Momo's Meat Market

This family owned business is really a gem in this community. If you're anywhere close on Broadway, you can smell them grilling outside! I got the 2-way plate (all plates come with two sides) and it was definitely enough food for two meals and they give you heapings of BBQ sauce! The owners are really friendly and have amazing customer service. It's fairly small inside and since it's a fairly popular place, it's quite cramped with people waiting for their orders. I would suggest taking your food to go and going to the Tahoe Park just a block away. I've definitely found my go-to lunch spot.

The wait was well worth it for such great food. This spot is cozy and inviting, making it a definite go-to whenever I'm in the area. I enjoyed a delicious two-way combo of ribs and tri-tip with sides of mac and cheese and baked beans. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to try more items from their menu! A must visit when I come to Sacramento. Friendly service, outstanding BBQ and sides. My favorites the brisket and links. Although the chicken is quite tasty. Collard greens and macaroni and cheese favorite sides. Generous portion!

By far some of the best bbq I've had in California so far. The staff here is top notch and are nothing but kind and sweet. The food is soooo delicious, I can't recommend it enough!! Also Glen is such a fun guy to talk too!

Updated review as of May 2022. The prices have changed and so have the portion.(smaller) This is great bbq place I've been. I ran into it on accident while going to the DMV and getting my live scans. The bbq is amazing, it's better than some of the places I've experiences in Sacramento. Today I have officially tried everything on the menu and the tri tip is my favorite. I love the sides like the greens or pepper jack Mac.

Worth the wait as great food takes time. A for sure return spot that is friendly and cozy. Enjoyed a two way with ribs and link that came with two sides: chose Mac and Cheese as well as baked beans. Can’t wait to go back and try some of the other items on the menu

The food was amazing. The customer service was even better.!!! I got the three-way combo, ribs, chicken, and tri-tip with beans and rice and macaroni and cheese ! This was my first time here I've heard a lot about this place. It did not disappoint. I will be going back. They have regular customer in me now.

I'll start by saying that I'm not a big carnivore...I like a much higher veggie to meat ratio in my diet. Despite this, over the years, I've had all their meats (ribs, chicken, hot links, tri-tip) and the following sides: coleslaw, baked beans, pepper jack mac, and potato salad. The meat is cooked perfectly and the sauces are delicious. The ribs are my personal favorite. I haven't had a side I've disliked, but I really love the pepper jack mac. Mac & cheese with a bit of heat from the peppers is one of my most favorite things to eat. If bbq/meat you should stop by, since even this non-bbq loving person enjoys Momo's from time to time!

Momo's is amazing. The customer service is grea lt and the food is delicious. It's a family owned restaurant and are busy every time we stop by to order. You may want to call in your order is you're pressed for time. That's how much people love the BBQ. You smell the BBQ when approaching because they have big smokers outside cooking the meat.

So very sad to hear that Glen had a stroke and they are closing immediately. Praying that Glen heals quickly. Going to miss Glen and Sharon. The bbq was delicious and they had one of the best mac and cheeses that I have ever had.

When I lived in Tahoe Park this was my go to place for bbq. The food was top notch and the people were even better. I'm sad to hear they're closing and I won't be able to get those ribs anymore but I wish them all the best.

This is one of those places where you need to be in the know. While they open at 11, food will not be available until after noon. We were informed when ordering and chose to spend an hour chattering away while waiting for our food. The space is a little run down upon first glance, but is made oh so charming by the personalities and smiles on the faces of those running the show and the regular clientele lined up to pick up their orders. The food is good! There is plenty of variety and it is pleasantly smoked without being overdone. The sides we tried were also tasty. Give them a call and place your order. These kind folks will gladly help you out!

I came back to Momo Meat Market and once again enjoyed great service and delicious food. The consistent quality makes it a standout choice. Keep supporting this great business--they truly deliver every time.

Absolutely delicious, this is the best BBQ I've ever had. We found out about this place when we saw them grilling meat in the parking lot and it looked/smelled so good as we drove by we had to get some to try and we were NOT disappointed! The tri-tip was so tender and juicy and paired so well with their delicious BBQ sauce. I also enjoyed the hot links and the ribs were excellent! I'm not a big fan of chicken but their chicken had great flavor, moisture and was cooked very well. Now the sides were also SO good-- we got potato salad, mac & cheese, beans, greens and fried cabbage. All of them were so delicious and went excellently with the meat. This is now a staple that I have to get every time I stop by Sacramento! Give them a try, you won't regret it!

If you are having cravings of a cookout style meal, but your circle of friends isn't throwing one anytime soon??? Don't fret and make your way over to MoMo's Meat Market! A small location but a great small business to support. Be a little patient as you wait for your food because it's all worth the wait. They put the "finger licking" into the 'finger licking good'. The best BBQ in town hands down.

Weve been going here for ever.The food is consistently delicious! Smoked to perfection, rub and smoke on point and generous portions. Beef ribs need to be in advance all the meats are tender and moist, the side are so tasty, greens and fried cabbage to die for.

I've been going here for a while now and Momo's always delivers! The plates come loaded your choice of meat with 2 sides. They smoke the meat in the parking lot which fills the entire street with appetizing smoke. All meat choices come tender and the hot bbq sauce compliments all the flavors. The couple who I believe are the owners are always super kind and friendly to all customers. The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated giving the restaurant a family vibe. Everything about Momo's is perfect. If you like bbq this is the spot for Sacramento!

This is the spot!!! Such a kind and whole hearted couple who runs this place. The food is so fresh and so good!! I used to have a spot in downtown for bbq and paid about $30-$40 , over here it's cheaper, more portion, and delicious!!! The service is always quick. The vibe of this place is great with the music and the wall arts. This is officially my go to spot when I'm craving bbq!

You don't get quality food for a reasonable price in SF. It's always expensive & mid. This place is DELICIOUS! The ribs were tender, the chicken full of subtle smoky-FLAVOR & the hot links is fire!!!! I've never had greens I actually liked, this was on point. The baked beans & rice yummy simple but full of flavor as well. Everything we ordered I could tell was made with love. Get it to go though because inside was hot

Amazing rib ends. I judge bbq on how well the meat is cooked without bbq sauce. Tri tip was great too. I ate it the next day at room temperature. Man! The ribs were so good, I actually took the leftovers next day to work. My classroom smelled so great.

I was nearby when the smell of the bbq outside took me by surprise. I had to know so I walked over to find two owners working hard and fast to serve everybody. From what I could tell they have some regulars that come by which gave me the feeling that this was going to be a great meal. I ordered a Tri Tip Sandwich. It was about $11 and when you compare to what we pay nowadays to eat out this was more than a fair deal. The meat was cooked perfectly, the sandwich was LOADED with tri tip and the spicy bbq sauce was the perfect addition. I can't wait to try a full plate. You may have to wait a little bit for your food to be ready but they are very busy and making everything fresh so it's absolutely worth it.

I'll never go there again. After waiting 1 hour for my ribs (about 4 bones), they were tough and partially burnt! I could barely bite the meat from the bone. The beans were mediocre, the links were just ok and the potato salad was AWFUL!! From what I was told, this place has been there for many years...you'd thing they would have done some upgrading inside ‍

Clean restaurant. Nice environment with refreshing music. Welcoming staff. Food is fresh and served hot. The portion sizes are always good and fit the price. The chicken seems to fall off the bone, and the ribs are tender, too. The sides are always seasoned right and taste delicious.There's not a long wait time for your order, either. I've forgotten to take pictures of my plates, but the next time that I go, I will be sure to add them.

Lord. The food here is amazing. Did a 2-way plate with potato and greens to go along with my ribs and tri-tip. Everything was fantastic--food, service, other customers. I wish I lived in Sac cause I'd be here all the time! Lovely little place where you can grab a booth and become part of the fam.

They have very good barbecue ribs, barbecue chicken and tri tip. Their staff are very friendly and very tolerable, but to give you fair warning that your wait can be longer than anticipated. The lady at the register was very nice and probably understood this quite well since one of the customers was very vocal about waiting for her order and she took it like a champ. I had the ribs and hot links with potato salad and baked beans. The 3 ribs and hot links were good and juicy. The potato salad was good and the beans were ok but up to my expectations. My wife loved her order of 5 ribs with cole slaw and potato salad.

It has been since pre-covid times that we did our last review. IT IS STILL THE BEST RIBS AND CHICKEN IN TOWN!!! Glen is very picky about the ribs and chicken pieces he will BBQ. The ribs are very meaty and the chicken pieces are moist and tender. The sauces - mild and hot, are tasty and easily slathered on the BBQ ed meats. The sides are where they can improve their menu, If they had matched the meats, they would stay on top of the crowd of rib /brisket lovers.

Food was delicious! The ribs, tri-tip, hot links, and chicken were all moist and very flavorful. The beans were very tasty and complimented the meat well. The BBQ sauces were spicy, tangy, and sweet which was delicious on top of the meat. Service is always great as the owners are friendly. Food sells out fast so picking up food early is always a must.

I have been going to MoMo's for more than 10 years and it has been consistantly good. This time I ordered the chicken sandwich which was good but it took a long time for my order to come up... they seem to be short staffed. I didn't like the fact that the owner started talking about her politics to one of the customers which is not a good thing. Politics should be kept secret as in the secret ballot. I guess they've never heard of Don't talk politics or religion so it was a major turn off. This is a free country and free speech, but your business isn't a place to talk politics.... Just sayin... There's no ambience. It's just a few tables and a couple booths with an empty case...

I felt like BBQ and I remember seeing this place and I always wanted to try it. I called ahead this time because I went a while ago and it was closed. The lady who answered said they were open until 6PM or when they ran out of food. I should of asked more but I just rushed over to the place and got there just before 4PM. There was a bunch of people inside. Some waiting for food in the booths and others like me waiting in line to order. It looked like a couple was running the place. Very friendly. They have smokers in the parking lot just across from their business. The parking lot was full but I got the last spot. Lucky We made it tot he front of the line and ordered. My wife and I got the same thing. We got the two ways with ribs and tri tip. Baked beans and potato salad. 16.99 a piece. She showed me the plates before she boxed everything up. It looked ok but they only do take out here no eating inside. When we got it home it looked done. We like medium rare but there was no pink on the meat. I trued the booth meats and they had great flavor and liked the taste. Yeah we would of loved to be more rare but It was pretty good. The potato salad was great and so were the beans. I would go here again but probably try and come earlier to get the medium rare. I like this palce and I am sure you would to.

Have been hearing about this place for a while now. Went today for lunch, ordered the 3 Way Combo. Put our order in and waited an hour for our combos. What a let down once I started eating. Beans were burnt and the tri tip, chicken and ribs were a huge disappointment. The couple are very nice. She apologized for us waiting so long. What a huge let down. Must have been a bad day!

This place is only for take out. You can see the smokers in the parking lot. The owners are nice and very friendly. The food is pretty good. I love the baked beans. I think it's the best one I've tried. I ordered the 2-ways, ribs and tri-tip. I usually like my tri-tip medium rare, but the well still tasted good. The ribs tasted good too. Good flavor. I would come here again when I'm in the mood for some BBQ.

Their son is ugly and rude and shouldnt be near the resturant. I ordered and he treated me with such disrespect that I couldn't even enjoy the mid food. The meat was alright but the mozzarella sticks wasnt eatable.

The bbq here is bomb. I was greeted by someone when I came in & directed to the counter when they were ready. They were packed when I came in but they got my order taken quickly despite the line. I got my large order quite fast - about 20 mins even though there were several folks ahead of me. Next time I do a big order I'll call first! I placed a large group order - two 1 way plates, three 2 way plates, & a hot link Sandwich. These included just about everything on the menu. Everyone was very pleased. I tried the chicken from someone else plate and it was very juicy and flavorful! The greens were good, folks loved the fried cabbage (I think there was bacon in it). The potato salad was not my favorite (I prefer savor of sweet potato salad) but folks enjoyed it. I didn't try them beans & rice but the person who ordered it enjoyed that side - though they preferred the greens over the beans & rice. The hotline sandwich was basic, bbq hot link on a bun, with a side of BBQ it smelled delicious and was piping hot. My order was a 2 way plate, tri tip & ribs with double Mac. They gave me healthy portions of tri-tip & mac, with three ribs. The ribs were thick and flavorful and the hot BBQ sauces was so good. The pepperjack Mac was good and they add jalapeños in it which was a plus for me. The trip tip was nicely sliced and flavorful. Overall the service was great, they are both kind and obviously share a lot of love for their customer base. They recognized regulars and chatted them up it was good vibes. There are no updated menus from this year on yelp from what I could do so here they are with the price changes.

Only reason not 5 stars is because my plate didn't come with bread haha. Tasty food. Sauce is definitely where it's at. Sides were great and the service was friendly and welcoming. Definitely will be back.

Not what I was expecting for BBQ. No smoke rings on ribs, no flavor to the tri tip, relies entirely on a side of sauce. less than stellar sides. It's edible and filling but extremely basic. It isn't real bbq that relies on indirect heat and smoke that should take 4 hours for ribs and have a nice smoke ring with a slight pull off the bone finish. Kind of just tastes like your neighbor put some meat on a grille in a rush at a party. Mediocre sides. What's strange is that it's not cheap at all ($18 for a two item combo) and the line of repeat customers has me even more confused. Do not understand the high ratings here. Feel bad writing this review on a local sacramento business.

Love them good food! You will have to wait only Downside but it's worth the wait! Ribs and links are my go to and never disappoint. The sides are good not the best I've ever had but probably the best barbecue meat in Sacramento for sure.

Solid BBQ but really really slow. Small joint located in a strip mall. Outside you see the BBQs cooking and you can smell the smoke from a mile away. When we got there there was a line out the door and just one woman working the desk. Turns out the line wasn't even people ordering it was people waiting for their food. It took 5 minutes to even get acknowledged. Once we ordered it was another 45 minutes to get our food. That being said the folks there were really really nice. Almost nowhere to sit here too. When the food came it was pretty darn good. We had tri tip and ribs. The tritip was nice and tender. The sauce was sweet and just a little tangy. Overall the food was really good. You have to decide yourself if its worth the wait.

Mom and Pop spot. This place has a lot of soul and it reflects in food. Great bbq spot. Stay blessed!

Reasonable pricing. Inside the restaurant looks kind of old and shabby. The meat was tender and seasoned well. I wasn't a fan of the jalapeno macaroni and cheese.

So today was our 3rd time at Momo's. We picked up Ribs,chicken,and Hot Links for our familys 4th of july get together. What a great day of hangin out with our daughter and her family. But once again, the real star of the show was all the BBQ's meat we brought. Everyone there couldn't get enough of it. I saw today just how popular this place is. People were waiting on line to get their BBQ. I called a day ahead for my order and they could barely keep up with the flow of folks coming to get BBQ to go. It really is a game changer if your having a party or not. Momo's deserves our business. The folks running the place are super nice and grateful for the business. You gotta check em out, Broadway & 59th across the street from the 7/11 store.youll see the smoke.

I called in a large to go order for a work event and things couldn't have gone better. The food was absolutely amazing and everyone was raving about their individual orders. The staff was beyond friendly and patient with how many orders I had. I will definitely be returning!

My favorite bbq place in Sacramento. The food taste very delicious the meat is cooked with just the right seasoning.

The food here was amazing. I showed up without a pre-order and placed a very large order just after opening. I did have to wait about 30 minutes for them to complete my order, but totally understandable as my order was over $300. Watching the three people working while waiting and I could tell the food would be great. All three were hard working and very friendly to all the customers. The food was fantastic, full of flavor and the meats were cooked perfect. I will definitely be back as this is one of a very few BBQ joints in Sacramento that are worth it.

Want authentic BBQ? This is the place to go! You can see the multiple smokers in action in the parking lot. Tri tip had a strong smoky flavor but I didn't mind it at all. Unique and flavor enhancing. The ribs were so tender and juicy. The BBQ sauce on the side was just right. The best part is that while I waited, I could see that this place had a huge following with lots of repeat customers who kindly greeted the employees as if they were family. I definitely stood out since I was a small Asian lady wearing a business suit but everybody in there was so kind and treated me as if I had been coming there for years (my first time was today). I will definitely come back if I'm in the area again. Go here to buy from local small business with authentic BBQ vs. some chain. You will not regret it. My full tummy certainly doesn't regret it one bit!

My friend and I stopped by here after going to UCD Med Center and this is a place we will definitely come back to! Such yummy food and great service!!

Great bbq. I live in the pocket area and go there often. I'm from Texas and it taste like home. Love their sausage and brisket.
