The Biggest LA Restaurant Openings to Know in 2023 - Eater LA

"Stationed in the former 41 Ocean venue is lounge/restaurant Mon Ami, Santa Monica’s hangout that debuted on May 5. The Pacific Coast Hospitality team — also known for Canary — found a similar lushness with tiles, stucco, and plush seating while providing French, Moroccan, Italian, Greek, and Spanish-flavored cocktails and bites. Dishes include prosciutto-wrapped tomatoes, chicken tagine with pickled carrots, and seared branzino with olive tapenade. A handful of creative cocktails adorn the menu, including the gondola with tequila blanco, Aperol, elderflower liqueur, and grapefruit, plus a respectable wine list." - Eater Staff

We had a meal at Mon Ami in Santa Monica with friends, and we had a great time. As French visitors, we really enjoyed the cocktails, which were excellent and beautifully crafted. The place is nicely decorated, warm, and welcoming. The staff was excellent – very friendly and professional. We ordered the tajine, which was good, but a bit simple in its preparation – a little disappointed with this dish that we know well. Overall, it's a place worth visiting if you're in Santa Monica!

We discovered this hidden gem for Valentine’s Day, and it was nothing short of outstanding. The restaurant had a prefix menu for the occasion, and every dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The ambiance was intimate and cozy—perfect for a special night out. The highlight for me was the potato leek soup—rich, velvety, and packed with flavor. The steak frites was also exceptional, perfectly cooked and paired with crispy, golden fries. Every bite was perfection. Service was warm and attentive, adding to the overall experience. We’ll definitely be back to explore their regular menu. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Wow! I walked in saying I'm not that much of a fan of hummus and walked out saying that's the best hummus I've ever had! First, this place is beautiful and so tucked away. We thought we were at the hostess for the mexican restaurant next door, but then she showed us the menu for Mon Ami, and we were sold. We arrived around 7:30ish on a Sunday night, and it was pretty quiet. We chose to sit outside with the warmers because it was so pretty out there. Our service was phenomenal! We ended up getting a platter to share with hummus, whipped feta, and shwarma spiced mushroom skewers. The pita that came with it was warm, soft, and sooooo good. The hummus was so creamy, and the flavor was so on point. We ended with a strawberry sorbet, which I originally said I didn't want but ended up eating like a third. The color was beautifully bright, and the texture was icy but creamy. I've never tasted a sorbet like it. I was blown away by everything about this place, so glad we had stumbled upon it! Please seek it out and give it a try!!

Google
Insane food. You must go. The mezzo platter is perfect to share. The lobster pasta, risotto, and octopus are all amazing, as well as the panna cotta for dessert. Atmosphere is great for date night or girls night. Also have late nights where they bring in dj’s and open up the space that are super fun! All staff are super cool and great people.

Google
Food and armosphere was perfect. The seating area outside was as if we were transported to a different location. The service was good, well taken care of by multiple people. Wish we had 1 clear/set server. Had no silverware on table and had to ask for napkins.

Let me start with the positives. . Great ambiance . Wonderful cocktails. I had the best Espresso Martini, I've ever tasted. . Different taste of food. Let your taste buds take a deep dive into Mediterranean and Middle Eastern goodness . . Impeccable service 👌 . Great choice of lively music 🎶 Now onto my experience with the bathrooms. Oh man! Literally!! The 2 stalls are unisex with one sink outside. So I was Literally peeing next to a man. The worst part that the locks on the bathroom seem to lock, but THEY DON'T! So a gentleman walked in on me as I was peeing. So embarrassing 😳 The manager comped us a dessert plate for that incident, because supposedly they knew that locks dont work at times. 🙈 I'd rather get the discount on my bill. I really think for a Friday and Saturday that the place gets packed, 2 shared stalls between the 2 genders is a bit much. I hope the owner comes up with a solution for this problem. I even hate to take off a star 🌟 in my review, but I feel like I need to do that because that is an experience that I have never experienced. 👀

Google
I had high expectations for this. We were looking for a great outdoor atmosphere for my visiting mother-in-law. Per TikTok this was the place. We spoke with a pleasant woman on the phone to add a guest and make sure we could sit outside and was told yes. When we arrived two gentlemen took us in and he seemed a bit uncertain as to where to seat us, he was conferring with another gentleman. At that point, another woman, I assume the hostess, grabbed the tablet he was using (always awkward when an employee is condescending to another employee in front of guests) and took us to an inside table. I explained we had spoken to someone who assured us we could be sat outside. She told us unfortunately that person should not have told us that (she knew about it) and there was nothing she could do, "the food will be worth it" is what she said. We were sat in the back by the bathrooms and a room for storage that had a curtain covering it. No ambience inside. I understand things happen, but it is the reaction of these things that make the difference. If she was a bit sincere, offered the first round of drinks to make up for it, either of those would have gone a long way. On a $500 check that would have been the right thing to do. The food was good. The build your own platter was top notch. The entrees were fine. Not in the top ten restaurants of Santa Monica, but good. Side note, the busser that night (he said it was his second night working there) was great! Very attentive and genuine. Visit 7/18/2025 7pm.

Mon Ami is a true hidden gem! After a bit of trouble finding the entrance (thanks for sending us down a literal dark alley, Google), everything else was perfect. Our server (Justin) was helpful and very attentive. The cocktails and wine were fantastic. And the food! We enjoyed every bite, left full, and had leftovers. Definitely one to revisit the next time we're in town.

Yelp
Great meal, beautiful ambiance and excellent service!! We sat outside in the patio which is so pretty with the green vines cover overhead and the cute lights. Very very inviting! And it was perfect weather too surprisingly because apparently Labor Day weekend gets really hot but this time it was actually mild and nice. Lucked out for sure with our visit!! We ordered the Mezze platter - chose the chicken souvlaki skewers (4) since we were 4 of us, the hummus, the whipped feta, baba ghanoush, nas-o-musir, and the potato zeppole. It comes with a pita split in 4 quarters and some crudite veggies. We had to order additional pita because there were so many dips and spreads that was not enough. I would strongly suggest they add another pita to accompany this mezze platter. But everything was delicious! In addition we ordered the chicken tagine which is like a chicken stew with veggies. That was also quite tasty although we only ate a little as we were quite full already and got the rest for leftovers. We also ordered dessert - the loukoumades which are described as Greek donuts with honey drizzle served with a cardamom chantilly cream. We were all quite full so only ate one or two and took the rest for leftovers. The restroom was interesting - only 2 unisex stalls and a single sink. They definitely could use renovations and some updates. I took off a star for that reason- especially given the restaurant itself both inside and outside is really amazing in its decor - was expecting a much nicer bathroom. Overall a nice experience with great dinner and a great evening!

Yelp
So, I just finished my leftovers from last night and it's just so good!! Monami has a lovely, vibrant atmosphere, the service was wonderful. I said wow at the first bite of so many of the dishes! Fried potato and sauce, gnocchi, and donut were to die for. Hummus, the BEST I've had in forever. Maybe the best I've ever had outside the Middle East. I cannot wait to go back and try something else!

Yelp
Mon Ami in Santa Monica deserves a solid 4 stars. The restaurant theme is excellent, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The waiters were fast and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The food was outstanding. The octopus was perfectly tender with a smoky, char-grilled flavor that was simply delectable. The 7 spice chicken was a standout, boasting a rich, aromatic blend of spices that offered a delightful kick without overwhelming the palate. The skewers were succulent and juicy, each bite bursting with savory goodness. The Caesar salad was fresh and crisp, with a creamy dressing that perfectly complemented the crunchy romaine. One minor downside was the surprisingly low number of patrons dining during our visit, which impacted the overall vibe. Additionally, I believe offering complimentary pita bread at each table would be a great enhancement. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend Mon Ami for a delightful dining experience. I left feeling excited and satisfied, eager for my next visit.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delish! 3 of us shared the Mini Zeppole and Whipped Feta w Peta on happy hour for our app, then shared the Steak Frites, Lobster alla Catalana Pasta, and Mediterranean Branzino as our mains. The portions were great, we were all full and even had a little leftover steak and pasta to bring home. I personally thought the Mini Zeppoles lacked flavor, however they were my friend's favorite dish of the night. It's served with a yummy Spicy Tomato Dip which was sooo good mixed with the Whipped Feta. Knocking off a star because the restaurant was very hard to find and was extremely loud inside. Even without many people in the area we were sitting in, I struggled to hear my friend's talking across from me and the waiter. There is very minimal signage from Ocean Ave indicating that the restaurant is tucked away down a little alley. Maps doesn't take you to the entrance on Ocean, it tries taking you down various alleys. A sign on Ocean Ave pointing towards the checkin area would be extremely helpful. I will say it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL inside. Funny seeing the old 41 Ocean club turned into a high end restaurant, but they did it extremely well.

Yelp
Mon Ami is my new favorite restaurant. Best food and service! Everything I ordered was delicious.

Yelp
Someone recommended this spot so we decided to try it out. I got the Mezze Platter with hummus, the potatoe zeppole and chicken souvlaki. It came beautifully presented and the chicken was good, but the hummus was pretty bland with a lot of salt. Every bite I took had chunks of salt in it. The potato zeppole wasn't the best either, it really tasted like a donut in a way. The cucumbers that came with the hummus was super fresh and great, and the bread was yummy as well. Our friend got the potato gnocchi and said it was very bland. All and all - won't be coming back for the food. The service by Christopher was AMAZING. He was the best! I mentioned it was my birthday and he showed up with amazing delicious dessert. The vibes and ambiance were cute, very "date vibes". Parking: there's meters around, and parking structures. But it's fine cause it's a nice stroll and other spots around.

Yelp
Fantastic spot for a date or group. Food is generous so ordering starters may be enough. We didn't know this and went all out! Space... 5 stars Beautiful ambiance, natural foliage, heated patio. Off the beaten path, down a corridor from Ocean, near Colorado. It's a special oasis from a very busy area. Service... 5 stars very attentive and friendly. Servers checked in for our orders, for refills, the bill without issue. Parking... free 90 minute parking in the city lots - nearest one is off of 2nd and Broadway. Food...we ordered Mezze platter...5 stars. Came with potato zeppole, baba ghanoush, and nas o musir. Much more food than expected and wonderfully presented. Greek salad...5 stars. Very good, but presents differently. The feta is whipped, the vinaigrette is lemony, and the entire plate is delicious. Cauliflower Shawarma...3 stars. Earthy, lots of spices but not in a way that burns your palate! Very good but would have liked more cauliflower with pita on the side vs underneath the food. The pita in this dish tasted chewy and tough. Branzino... 2 stars. Our least favorite and priciest of the bunch. The fish was thinly portioned and salty. Served with very salty green olives on the side and a salad. I wouldn't order this again.

Yelp
What a cute restaurant! It's a bit hidden, has an adorable patio and the inside is quite nice as well. Our server Justin was fantastic. Gave us great recommendations. The pulpo was some of the best I had ever had in LA! Great flavor and the perfect texture, not chewy at all. The chef special squid ink pasta was phenomenal. Everything was truly great. I do wish the greek salad were more traditional (feta block vs whipped, black olives vs green) but it was still lovely.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance and great service however their Greek dishes and recipes need work. I long to see more Greek restaurants in LA.

Yelp
A big group of friends came to Mon Ami for dinner last night. We had about 6 people at one table and 7 at another, so it was essentially like we were two different parties. The ambience was amazing and the drinks were super good. The mezze platter was also so, so delicious! I especially loved the potato zeppole and the baba ghanoush. But here is where the issues were: The table of 6 ordered a mezze platter wit, baba ghanoush, hummus, whipped feta, two orders of potato zeppole, and an extra order of pita bread. We also got a chicken tagine, and a Greek salad. The first time they gave us our mezze platter, it had chicken (which we did not order), and was missing the extra pita and second order of potato zeppole. We told our server this, and she told us that our order was accidentally given to our friends at the table of 7. She took away the mezze platter and said she would get us our order. It came out a while later....except it was the exact same thing that we had sent back. The man who put down our order said he was sorry, the chicken was on the house and that he would get us our two additional orders. The additional zeppole and pita came out and we moved on. Everything was really tasty and we were having a great night! But the chicken tagine and salad came out WAY later. And while the mezze was delicious, the tagine had almost no flavor and the salad was just fine. Our waitress came back and told us she was giving us some donuts because of the issues we encountered. They were absolutely delicious! We all raved about them. But when the bill was delivered, it had the chicken we didn't order and the donuts. When we told her that these were included on the bill, she apologized for the donuts but said that the chicken was correct "because it was consumed." But we hadn't even ordered it!! She said she needed to talk to her manager about this. Ultimately, they did wave the chicken fee (and the donuts), but the whole experience left a very bad taste in my mouth. My husband ended up telling me the same thing happened to them - when they got the extra two orders that we ordered (but his table didn't), the waitress said that it should be paid for by them because "it was what was consumed." Even though it was the restaurant's mistake, they charged us for food we didn't order but that they gave to us. I wouldn't come back because of this experience. I thought the restaurant was really pretty, but the price point and major issues made it a weird experience. We thought this was due to the restaurant being new, but it's actually been open for almost a year. It just isn't worth it to me to go back after this.

Yelp
$27 for a vodka soda is NASTY work. Added insult to injury that it was definitely underpoured. Eric W, security guard at the front, pulls some really shady moves on guests.

Yelp
Mon Ami is a hidden gem of Mediterranean cuisine nestled on Ocean Ave. We indulged in three items from the Mezze Platter: the whipped feta, Calabrian chili prawns, and chicken Souvlaki, all of which were delicious. Though, we wished there were more prawns. For our main course, we shared the lobster alla Catalana pasta, which was generously portioned, allowing us to take some home. The ambiance was fantastic, transporting us from the tourist-filled streets of Santa Monica to a Mediterranean destination. It would be perfect for a gathering with friends, and I'm definitely looking forward to returning.

Yelp
We asked a friend to meet us at Mon Ami for the first time ever eating here. The bottom line is there was some good items and there were some not so good items and a situation . I enjoyed the lamb shank, but they serve it in an extremely small dish. I've never seen anything like this. But I will admit it was tasty. One person had the crab pasta and she enjoyed that. Where the 1st snafu came in was my wife ordered the Branzino fish. This is something we order a lot at restaurants, and this was by far the smallest portion of a fish that I've ever seen and for $39 they should've probably served her both halves of the fish not just one fillet. My wife wanted some bread so they gave us two pieces of pita bread cut into thirds. It was hard to believe but they changed us $9 dollars for these 2 pita breads ( something that most restaurants include with the meal) . We did mention it to the waiter and showed him how small it was. Where the real screwup happened was, we were splitting the check and I thoroughly explained to the waiter, whose name is Jay how to split the check and I repeated my name with the amounts. He said he understood but what happened was he turned it over to the manager and they reversed which Card got which amount. You always hope when you explain something throughly to somebody that they're going to do it properly, but obviously when he handed it over to this manager, the ball got dropped and it was aggravating. They did correct it and it took four days to show up on my credit card with the correction. Pay attention, this should not have happened. I mentioned to the manager that there was no paper towels and the toilet seat was broken in the bathroom. I'm not sure if they did anything about it but they do need to keep up on the maintenance and make sure things are in order. The bill came to $200 for three people plus the tip. For these prices and the snafus, I'm not sure if I'm gonna come back. But I do wish them well.

Yelp
A great meal with great ambiance. The food, especially the octopus, was excellent. Service was great. We had a lovely evening. Really beautiful courtyard dining.

Yelp
This place is incredible! From the cocktails to the food, it won't disappoint. We had the 7 spice chicken and the lobster pasta and man...mind blown. The flavors were so well balanced and unbelievably unique, it makes you want to come back and try every dish on the menu. And don't sleep on their cocktails, they're special on their own. Highly, highly recommend this spot. Great for a date night for sure. Oh and the service was bomb, our server was so helpful with descriptions and recommendations, it made things so much easier.

Yelp
Beautiful ambience and wonderful service. Christopher started us off with the El Rey cocktail which was innovative and refreshing and paired well with our humus and mezze platter. Actually all of his recommendations were spot on. We moved to the shrimp on skewers that were a really nice treat and then shared the lobster pasta that was out of this world and the risotto with mushrooms and truffles even better. Christopher was so helpful and kind and even though they were supper busy he moved us away from the music later in the evening. Really one of the best spots in Santa Monica!
google avatar

Mikki W.

Yelp
The food, the ambience, the service were all amazing! I'm not a big Mediterranean food fan but this place converted me into a big fan! The appetizers of grilled shrimp on a stick with hummus and veggies were a great start. The order came with 3 shrimp but one of the shrimp was slightly undercooked so we let our server know. She took it away and brought us 4 more, which was more than generous and so delicious! We had lobster pasta and gnocchi with cremini mushrooms and their signature chicken that melted in your mouth.

Yelp
This restaurant is tucked away in the back of other bigger restaurants off Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica. You cannot see the restaurant off the street. You need to walk to the back of the other restaurants and then you will see it. It is a hidden gem. The minute I stepped inside, I felt transported to a Mediterranean garden and an upscale lounge/restaurant. The restaurant opened three months ago and a local friend took me here. Otherwise, I don't think I would have found it. We selected the Baba Ganoush (eggplant), Prosciutto Tomatoes, and Olives for the Mezze Platter. The Prosciutto wrapped tomatoes were my favorites. The sweet and savory prosciutto paired nicely with these small juicy flavorful tomatoes. Each mouthful was a burst of flavor and absolute deliciousness! We also ordered the chicken tagine and that was enough to share for two to three people. It was chicken slow-cooked in a curry sauce and came with vegetables. This dish felt hearty and comforting. It came in a hot pot. The chicken was tender.I highly recommend it as a shared entree. For drinks, the Cave Rose was great but the Virgin Paloma (mock tail) was bland and lacked flavor. The reason why I am not giving this place 5 stars is because I am allergic to loud noises. If you like loud music, go for dinner (they are not open for lunch yet) Thursday through Saturday when there is a DJ. I was there on a Friday night so the DJ was blasting loud club music. If you don't like loud music, then go Sunday through Wednesday. I learned this from our waiter. I highly recommend making a reservation. The place was mostly packed. Except for the loud music, the place was lovely. Service was good and the food wasn't bad.

Yelp
Say hello to the new it spot in Santa Monica! Tucked away on Ocean Avenue, this is one of those places you can't stumble upon, but need to know about. Once you open up its wooden doors, be prepared to be taken to a Mediterranean oasis! The patio is super cute with pink umbrellas and greenery everywhere. The indoors is great as well that serves as a good date spot. As for the food? So many good choices! Recommended is the Mezze Platter where you can build your own platter to try a bit of everything - get the Potato Zeppole for sure! Who doesn't love a crispy potato donut with tomato dip? We went all out with the Steak Au Poivre and Crab Fregola Risotto which both blew our expectations out of the water. The hostess, servers, and busboys were super attentive and helpful the entire time as well. You can easily drop a pretty penny here but for a nice night out or a special occasion, just do it!

Kassandra S.

Yelp
The shareable board was absolutely delicious - highly recommend the whipped feta & Baba ghanoush (eggplant) dip - i had the gnocchi potato pasta & WOW it was very tasty and made incredibly well - we also ordered the steak which was not entirely cooked "medium rare" & the mushroom sauce they put on top wasn't the the best Overall the atmosphere was vibey & played mixed house music, this place is a very picturesque & Instagram worthy spot! The service was fast & our server was kind & knowledgeable about the drinks & food -** if you're a good & love trying new foods & drinks this is a place to visit & try the basil tomato cocktail (it was a complete miss for me, but an interesting try!)

Yelp
Very attentive, friendly and helpful staff from reception to the waiting staff. Our server Vicente helped up pick dishes and made sure we liked our food. We ordered potato zeppole, Baba Ghanoush, cauliflower Sshwarma, which tasted as Tava fry vegetables. Very rich flavor. Atmosphere was very lively and plenty of space, seating to hang around. Surely recommend this restaurant

Yelp
From start to finish, this place got it down right. The ambiance is a vibe & the food is on point. Chef Dan has a very creative array of Mediterranean dishes that blend well with the awesome cocktails on their menu. The mezze platter is a must for a group dinner. You can't go wrong with any of the mains, but both chicken dishes, the risotto, and the lobster pasta are next level. We got the chance to meet the head Chef, Dan, and he was as real as it gets. He treated us to some drinks on the house and made sure we felt at home. This is the new spot in SM! Right across the pier/beach and a little heaven tucked away from all the traffic on Ocean Ave. 10/10 recommend, I'll be returning again shortly.

Yelp
It wasn't what we were expecting but was a delightful surprise! The food was delicious and interesting. First of all the service was excellent which is much appreciated. The cocktails were expertly crafted. I had Amalfi Spritzed which was garnished with a sprig of fresh rosemary. We started with a mezze plate of rich creamy hummus, a variety of olives and grilled prawns on a stick. We also had a greek salad that had whipped feta. Delicious. For our main four of us shared the chicken tangine and gnocchi broccolini pesto. Amazing flavors. We'd go back in a heart beat. The restaurant is tucked in the back between two other restaurant. The patio is lovely and the aesthetics and attention to detail make the space inviting. Do not skip dessert. The Greek donuts are to die for! Now the bad part. Parking. Ugh. We paid $30 to park. They do have valet but we somehow missed it as we were instructed yo pull into the underground parking. It was a madhouse and the traffic was so bad we opted just to pay as there was no way we could back up.

Yelp
Mon Ami is Santa Monica's newest restaurant/bar located right across from the pier on Ocean Blvd! They serve Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine and have a great cocktail menu too! I absolutely love the aesthetics and the space they have here, making it a great place for lunch or dinner! I got their Smoked Salmon and their Mezze Platter, which came with whipped feta, veggies, and homemade naan! Our server Jeremy gave great recs too! I've tried their Lobster Pasta and Chili Prawns before and their food really hits the spot. Their craft cocktails are super refreshing. One of the bartenders, Joseph, was great when suggesting what cocktails I would like too! When you visit, make sure to head down the alley next to Red O and keep an eye out for the pink neon sign and head on in!

Kristella P.

Yelp
Food was tasty but wayyy overpriced for the amount you get. Mezze plate came with very small amount of bread - but the dips were good such as the feta and baba ganoush. I payed an additional $12 to add chicken to my salad and was a very small amount as well. Cocktails were good too!

Yelp
Tucked away from the tourist traps, you will find the cutest and most yummiest spot in Santa Monica. Meet Mon Ami. They have a live Dj ( I came here on a Friday night) and the most charming outdoor patio. The drinks are impeccable and mixologist/bartender definitely knew what they were doing. We had some custom drinks made and it was so good. Immediately, I fell in love with their charcuterie board concept. I love trying a lot of variety and having small bites of everything. All their dips were amazing! The sea bass was nice but almost wanted a bit more flavor- maybe some more fragrant olive oil? This is a must when in Santa Monica and recommend skipping any of the tourist restaurants here.

Yelp
Mon ami is located in the heart of the Ocean Avenue restaurant row. It is accessed through an ally and a private gate that connects you with a world of calm and elegance in contrast to the crowds thronging the nearby restaurants. Service was excellent and the food was pointedly housemade and creative. The small Jed salmon was high quality and we really enjoyed the pesto flavored gnocchi. We also enjoyed the boba and fruit dessert that was as flavorful as it was low calorie. My only issues were that you need to order at least two items for the mezzo platter even though the menu did not state this. I was rather disappointed since I only wanted the baba ganoush. The other issue is that the mock tail was a bit dilute and disappointing. We also had to wait over 10 min to pay the check. Mon ami is a promising addition to downtown Santa Monica. We look forward to returning once they iron out the kinks.

Yelp
We spent our wedding anniversary having a wonderful dinner at Mon Ami. It was our second time and we enjoyed the food just as much or more! They also offer a great happy hour until 7 pm. Last time we sat inside and we sat outside on Monday. We ordered the Mini Zeppole and Winter Salad off the Happy Hour menu. Both were amazing! Highly recommend! We also had the Gnocchi Genovese off the menu which topped the other dishes. Plenty of food for two. Daniel the chef pours his heart and soul into the food and business and it shows. The service was also excellent. Highly recommend for a night out!!

Yelp
This is a great new addition to Santa Monica, and one of the best meals I've ever had. The head chef, Daniel, has created a truly stunning menu. The gnocchi, Seven Spice Chicken, and potato Zeppoles were phenomenal, and the flavor combinations were unlike anything I've had before. The Nas-O-Musir with the house made pita & chicken skewers were one of my favorite parts of the meal. The ambiance is beautiful, the cocktails and wine program were fantastic as well. Service is top notch. House made strawberry sorbet and doughnuts to finish!

Yelp
Steps away from the beach and nestled behind Red O... a true hidden gem (a term often overused nowadays)! Every single staff member was absolutely wonderful. Our server was a lovely young man named Chris, from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out, everyone was so friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was delicious in a way that not only tasted good but also made you feel good. The space felt like a peaceful oasis, the perfect place to gather with friends or for a romantic tête-à-tête.

Yelp
What an absolute DREAM of a restaurant. I went here for the first time for dinner yesterday and was floored. Ambiance 10/10. Mom Ami was so cozy and beautifully curated. The food was delish! I had the cauliflower schwarma and it was easily one of the best vegan/gluten free dishes I have had in Los Angeles. The mushroom looked so must like beef that I had to double check it was vegan. Absolutely stunning! I also love the mocktails we had. They were placed in beautifully curated glasses that were so fabulous, you forgot they were alcohol free. The service was what really put this restaurant over the top. 12/10, everyone was so incredibly kind and attentive. We felt so well taken care of and welcomed. I highly recommend Mon Ami for date night or a fun night out with a group. There is plenty of space inside and out to where you don't feel squished. There is a super easy parking garage on ocean right next to it making parking super easy. Walk onto ocean from the parking lot, find Red O cantina and keep walking down that alley way alongside Red O to get to Mon Ami at the end.

Yelp
This review is updated for the newly added brunch menu! We ordered the mouth watering Shakshuka enough for two people, the PCH steak and eggs and the must have Mediterranean melt. Mon Ami can really do no wrong with their menu. The ambiance is always on point as is the service. This is the perfect brunch spot and I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
The food was delicious and well seasoned. The drinks were strong but fruity like I like them. The service was spectacular, Chris was a waiter and suggested many dishes to try. The ambiance was a 10/10, we sat on the dimly lit patio with heaters to stay warm. I recommend coming here for a date night or girls night.

Yelp
This beautiful restaurant is a perfect escape from the busy streets of Santa Monica to enjoy a delicious dinner in a relaxed atmosphere with great music. I highly recommend for a date night or meal with friends. The decor is gorgeous and the service outstanding! We absolutely loved the Mezze platter and the lobster pasta is perfection. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
I came here a second time for happy hour. I'd previously done dinner at Mon Ami a few months back, and was excited to try their happy hour which runs until 7pm. The restaurant itself is a bit hidden behind Red O on Ocean. They had a hostess stand near the curb, and the hostess walked me back to the restaurant and helped me get set up at the bar while I waited for my friend. We came on a Thursday, and the bar area was pretty empty. Which was great, because we got a seat right away. My friend and I shared the dip & pita and the mini zeppole. Both were delicious, and I would absolutely order them again.

Yelp
Vibey spot in the heart of Santa Monica. Perfect for drinks with your girls or a lovely date night. To me, the cocktails are the star of the show here. Mon Ami has a unique and tasty cocktail menu - be sure to try the El Rey! For food, definitely be sure to try the Nas-o-musir, the burrata toast with gazpacho and the gnocchi gnovese. Cheers!

Yelp
Mon Ami is the type of restaurant that makes you feel like you are on vacation. It's tucked away in a prime location in Santa Monica, right across from the pier. Parking was very easy, you can pull into paid parking right on Ocean Blvd or park a block away in a structure for 90 minutes free. You are going to want to stay longer than 90 minutes though. We ended up staying and hanging out for 3 hours. The servers are super friendly. We started off with drinks, Riviera Punch is a must try. If you're with a group I recommend the Mezze Platter so everyone can sample different options. It came with 4-5 different sauces, all were good. If you're not up for the Platter, just go with the Potato Zeppole. For an entree I went with the 7 spice chicken. If you're a fan of getting punched in the face with flavor like I am, it won't disappoint. This is a perfect place to catch up with friends, coworkers, or go on a nice date! Will be back!

Yelp
The dip appetizer was great, however, there was one other group of girls eating in the whole restaurant and we never got our entrees. We had to leave after an hour of waiting and we cancelled the entrees. Something is going on with their kitchen staff. We made eye contact with the only other table in the restaurant and we bonded over their similar experience. They said it took 1 hour to get their burger with fries. Again, we were the only ones there. It was confusing. Beautiful location but plan on paying $10 for parking. I would not go back unless I have 5 hours of free time to deal with their unique service approach.

Yelp
The ambience of this place is 5/5 so cute with the boho umbrellas and wooden decor. The food however was disappointing esp given price. The portions are on the smaller side the prawns for example is 4 pieces after you take off tail and head not much left, prices run almost $15 for appetizers. Extra pita and bread costs $9. Overall the dishes weren't anything special the only stand out was the yogurt and lobster pasta

Yelp
Across the street from the Santa Monica Pier, a great date location , because you can go across the street for a walk on the pier after, there is a parking lot right next door. My favorite things are the mezzo platter. you can pick 3 things from a list, i suggest the Humus and Whipped feta chicken skewers, but get extra bread. the drinks are amazing, but they have a Margherita Pizza Vodka Drink with washed mozzarella and basil. Vegetarian Shawarma was also really good.

Yelp
This restaurant is tucked away off of the Main Street, which is nice. We were seated outside and the ambiance was great. The waiter and waitstaff were helpful and friendly. The mezze platter was delicious, got the potato, baba ganoush and nasomusuir. Justin, the server, helpfully mentioned that portions are large so three of us split the Caesar and lobster pasta. It was good, but not amazing. We all left full and happy we tried it out. A dj was just starting to play house music inside as we left.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. I had my birthday brunch here and everything was amazing. From the food the the atmosphere I loved it! We ordered the steak and eggs which were perfect! The shashuka was so flavorful and a little spicy! The French toast was the perfect consistency and taste. Definitely will be coming back.

Yelp
Had a fabulous time at Monami restaurant on Ocean Avenue. Fabulous outdoor patio that turns into a cool lounge scene at night. Almost directly across from the Santa Monica pier and across the street from the Palisades Park/looking over the ocean. inspired by countries and regions that border the Mediterranean Sea: chicken tagine from Morocco, lobster pasta from Catalonia, and loukoumades, which are donuts that originated in Greece.

Yelp
Great ambiance, but very expensive. Not many choices and small portions. $8 for 4 small pieces of bread. Have to order bread multiple times for amount of dip and food. 20% tip also automatically added for party of 6. Definitely won't come back.

Yelp
Beautiful indoor and outdoor seating area, extremely friendly and fast service. The food was both delicious and aesthetic which made the whole experience a success! Thank you so much Mon Ami Cafe!

Yelp
Great spot with delicious food. We had the whipped feta, hummus and chicken souvlaki. Then we shared a Caesar salad. Would definitely recommend Mon Ami!
