This restaurant is in a class of its own. And it is made clear from the moment you are welcomed at the door. They genuinely WANT you to have an extraordinary experience —and that is exactly what we got.
The food was generally less visually “fancy” than the tweezer-style presentations you encounter in many other places (with one beautiful exception among the desserts), but that does not matter at all. On the contrary, it proves that the focus here is 100% on flavor. The flavors are balanced to absolute perfection, and I have never tasted greens such as dill and leek prepared in such a refined way. And for the first time ever, I actually enjoyed the mussel and oyster dishes I was served!
I DID miss something alongside the otherwise perfect duck breast, but the exclusion of other elements was probably intentional—to make us truly understand just how perfect the ingredient and the preparation were on their own.
Chef de Cuisine Dimitri Veith regularly visited the tables, both to serve dishes and to check that everything was to our satisfaction. Our waiter, Chris Midtun, with his warm smile and pleasant manner, made the visit even more enjoyable, while also ensuring that we always had excellent wine in our glasses. The lovely young woman responsible for the water service also did an impeccable job.
Thank you, dear uncle! We are very much looking forward to visit you again!
