Everything tasted fresh here. Friendly staff Khanh explained the ingredients and differences in their Vietnamese cuisine. Very quick service for freshly cooked chicken wings and garlic noodles. Their garlic noodles was amazing. So tasty!!!! Glad one of the customers recommended it when I was waiting for the imperial roll. Forgot to take picture of it until the last bite. The shrimp spring roll was refreshing with tasty dipping sauce. Not the normal peanut sauce, it’s a lot more savory with lighter texture. The beef vermicelli rice noodle was also excellent. Their peach ice tea and Thai green milk tea were not too sweet with fragrant tea flavors. Will be back to try their fried banana next time.

The Vietnamese spring rolls with shrimp are the best I’ve ever had! The shrimp taste incredibly fresh, and the vermicelli noodles perfectly complement the other flavors without overwhelming them. The peanut sauce has an ideal consistency that makes dipping effortless and delicious. I also LOVE the shrimp salad!!!

Stopped by today and just had to leave a review! Not only for the delicious food, but the wonderful service they provided! We came at a later time when food items were limited but the owners were kind enough to notice and check to see if they could make us a vermicelli bowl of our meat choice! They really went above and beyond with their service and the atmosphere of the small convi-styled location made it feel so warm and welcoming from both the owners and customers alike. The beef vermicelli bowl was a solid choice! (9/10). It was fresh, light feeling and the flavors of both the meat and fish sauce blended perfectly! My partner also tried it and enjoyed it so much he jokingly mentioned “I wish I could’ve enjoy it longer” referring to the fact that he finished it so quickly and wanted more! Haha Definitely will be coming back to try their shrimp spring rolls and also imperial rolls! ❤️

Mon Superette is a wonderful vignette into Vietnamese cuisine in the format of a charming convini-styled restaurant where you can get great quality and delicious food to-go or even enjoy in the window-side nook if you’re lucky to be in the area. The crab sandwiches are divine as they’re crispy, have great fresh flavor, and the bread is perfectly fluffy. Also, the owner Khánh was so informative and engaging as she shared the ethnic roots of her family’s cooking behind the food. Of particular note, if you have been to Japan and have enjoyed the wonders of the aforementioned convini-lifestyle (or other Asian countries for that matter) then you will be pleased to know these egg sandwiches are probably the best American option I’ve had to this date. They’re wonderfully light and have that perfect egg-to-mayo ratio that I’ve missed since returning from Tokyo. Apparently Khánh brought together the influence of having lived in Japan to this setup and it’s such a refreshing take on grab-and-go eateries. The garlic noodles and vermicelli salad (Bún) are must haves. Seriously. You need to try these. I think this is probably my favorite garlic noodles to date as they’re not overpowering or oily but just perfectly balanced for that satisfying savory flavor. They have hot food options in addition to the cold fridge grab-and-go so if you’re there, try everything out. I know I have enjoyed it and will be back to do just that.

Really love this place! The fried banana has me in a chokehold. I crave it weekly and it’s reminiscent of something you’d eat at a night market is SE Asia. The service is always amazing. I’ve also had the sandwiches, the ginger wellness shot, iced tea, garlic noodles and chicken wings. What a great addition to Piedmont!

Finally stopped in today and got the shrimp spring rolls. Tons of fresh veggies and appreciated that pretty much everything is grab and go or takes ~5 minutes to prepare! Having a sign or chalkboard outside advertising foods and prices might help get more foot traffic in. A couple small tables inside would probably help. Excited to come back and try the fried banana!

The food is tasty but expensive. However, I realize I’m not their demo, it’s Piedmont residents -white, upper, upper class folks. The food is tasty but again, it’s super expensive for the portions. Not going back because I’m Viet, not from Piedmont, and also can get all if not all of their items at Cam Huong in east Oakland. Support local tho! From the same folks who own Bacogai, also one of the most expensive Viet places in the east bay. For context: I got their crab Sando, their fried catfish rolls with banh hoi noodles. I also got an order of their hot item: imperial rolls. The catfish rolls were bomb but again I just can’t rationalize spending $17 on 2 rolls. That’s crayyy in any other viet place.

Fresh, high quality grab and go food in a clean, cozy space. Both the red and green milk teas were great, with very fragrant tea and not too sweet. The pork spring rolls were good, but the crab cake sandwich was my favorite. They also had a small chalkboard with some made to order items that I’m looking forward to trying next time.

Yelp
This mini-mart is perfect for a quick bites to-go. It's the sister shop to Bacogai in Alameda, so no surprise the food here is fresh and tasty, as well! This was my second time stopping in. I highly recommend the Crab Cake Sando, the Garden Salad with Shrimp, the Fancy Pork Summer Rolls and of course, the delicious Vietnamese Ice Coffee! BONUS: they have the good ice!! If you know, you know!! The service is always friendly and the ambiance is welcoming. You won't regret picking up lunch from Mon Superette!

Yelp
I had the chance to try out Mon Superette today because my wife had a yoga class nearby on Piedmont and picked up some food to-go for the two of us. She grabbed a crab sandwich from the ready-made section along with an order of spring rolls. The spring rolls were some of the best I've had. The lettuce inside was crisp and refreshing, paired nicely with the fragrant sprigs of mint. The shrimp were plump, and the vermicelli noodles had a nice bounce to them--just like the outer rice paper wrapper, which had great texture. The rolls were tightly wrapped, making them easy to eat without the filling falling apart. Poorly made rolls often unravel with each bite, but that wasn't an issue here. The accompanying peanut sauce was well balanced -- sweet and savory, though a bit thinner than I personally prefer. Nonetheless, it was a very enjoyable dipping sauce that I wish I had more of. The crab sandwich was excellent. The crab cake had the crispy, golden texture of a deep-fried hash brown but was generously packed with crab meat. It was topped with just the right amount of slaw: enough to add contrast without overpowering the crab. Even after sitting for a bit, the bread held up well and didn't get soggy. You get three pieces per order, making it a great option for sharing. This casual, to-go venture from the team behind Bacogai is seriously impressive. I'll definitely be back to try some of their hot food items next time.

Yelp
Great Asian lunch selections from their grill or in a grab n go format, featuring Japanese Sandos and Vietnamese Spring Rolls and much more. Fast and friendly staff is right there to take your order and get you on your way! Eat in? There is a small counter along the storefront window for you to enjoy your meal. As expected, this little storefront embodies that weekday lunch kinda vibe, but with modern touches in their simple decor. One of the things I miss from Japan are the convenience stores serving really fresh, inexpensive and delicious Japanese sandos (sandwiches). Thankfully Mon Superette has bravely stepped up to answer the call! I loved their crab cake sandwich and the egg salad was good too. Both were served on soft pillowy milk bread with the crust trimmed off in the Japanese style. It was almost like eating a cloud! I can't wait to be back for another crab cake sando!! They said that they will be expanding their grab n go menu soon too!

Yelp
I am so into the idea of this place and hope to make an updated review that's different than this one. I have to be honest though and say the tofu summer rolls were bland and underwhelming. For that price ($9) they should def be bigger and taste like something. They will also need to find a way to separate them because they stick together and are likely to rip apart. The tofu is plain/no flavor, definitely needs to be seasoned. There were no herbs at all and the dipping sauce was ehh and couldn't save it. I will come back to try some more items and am hopeful they can improve the summer rolls. A couple stars given because staff is pleasant and the place is a good little grab and go spot idea. They gotta up their game cause it's a good concept for those that don't want Ebiko sushi up the way.

Yelp
freshly batter-fried banana. is it the best cold-weather snack? def was on a chilly grey wednesday afternoon in February! late late lunch stop to check out this newish to-go place. there's a small window bench where you can wait a few minutes for your banana but it's not really space to eat. there's a small refrigerated case that holds ready-made sandos, salads, bowls and drinks (there may be more if you go closer to lunch?). think they also make hot drinks to order. sandos on milk bread, sliced in thirds. i appreciated that the small rectangles were easier to eat neatly - tho i might just be a messy eater. tried the crab cake because its season, was tasty and had to leave 1/3 for later because banana but the panko crust was still slightly crunchy even the next morning. slaw helped balance both flavor and texture. soft but never mushy milk bread keeps softer fillings from squeezing out. but. the. banana! hot, crunchy, sesame flecked lightly sweet coating holds melty banana lava. you can't help but break into it immediately as you walk down the street nibbling and grinning and make everybody else want one.

Yelp
Been hitting this spot frequently the past month or so, and I LOVE IT! The Sando Sandwiches, the various rolls, are absolutely delicious. Recently I tried a yellow curry with vermicelli noodles and I was mind blown. Absolutely, frikin delicious!! The curry wasn't too thick and wasn't too runny either. Mon Superette is most definitely one of the newest highlights on Piedmont Ave.

Yelp
Was just opening up and caught a few items. The salad dressing on the pretty simple salad was the real standout, as was the service. I wanted to like the garlic noodles more but alas, the hunt continues for the perfect garlic noodles. The noodles themselves were good, very fresh tasting, but missing a flavor component.

Yelp
This is the best chuối chiên I've had in a long time! It brings back childhood memories of eating fried bananas in Saigon--so delicious!

Yelp
Came here on a busy day and omg . The store is super cute and the owner put a lot of thought into the space. The grab and go concept is awesome and convenient. I had the crab Sando which was recognized in the sf chronicle and a red Thai tea. It was delicious, light, easy to eat, and AMAZING price point. My drink was about $6, and my sand which was $13. Definitely coming back to try everything one menu and the service was excellent. Owner is always in store so pop in when you get a chance.

Yelp
I bought the Fancy Springrolls and it was very tasty. I was pleasantly surprised. Never had purple fine vermicelli noodles before, but found it to be good. Will be returning to try their other foods. I liked how fast, clean, and convenient it was also.

Yelp
Grab and go sister to Alameda's popular Bacogai hot pot, Mon Superette is offering quick and light meals for folks on the move. There is a cold case filled with drinks, salads, spring rolls, and sandwiches and a limited to order hot menu. There is also a fun assortment of snacks at the register, including potato chips and puffed rice bars (really recommend the matcha vanilla). There are no tables, but there is a bench to wait or snack. I had the $12 fancy pork summer roll, which comes with a lightly spiced peanut sauce and deliciously crispy pork. These were much more filling than I anticipated so I feel like I got a good deal for the cost. For $6 I took home Vietnamese coffee which is sweet and bold. I also ordered the $11 garlic noodles for later - well seasoned and tasty, perfect to throw in some veggies and protein at home. The staff are also very attentive and kind! As the new grab and go on the block with only a week open, there are plans to expand a hot plate section. With Oori and Ebiko on the same block, I would like to see a few more options in the under $10 range, but the food is definitely filling and delicious. I'll be back!

Yelp
Just got a quick lunch from them today and it was affordable and delicious. The crab cake sandwich was $13 for 3 little sandwich halves with a tasty Vietnamese flavored slaw on them. Overall the sandwich ate a tiny bit too sweet for my tastes, but it was still really good and I'd absolutely go back and try other items. Super filling and affordable given it's crab!

Yelp
I want to love this place, as others have said, but it was just ok. Our imperial rolls came with no sauce, which was a shame because they are pretty bland. I assume this was in error since I see sauce in at least one photo here for the imperial rolls, so I recommend checking before you leave. The fancy pork summer roll was good, but didn't have enough of the sauce that was included in the grab and go box. The wings are well fried, though, and the noodles good, but not good enough to make up for the imperial rolls.

Yelp
I miss simply Greek before they had a new owner destroy the restaurant. The viet coffee and coconut milk drinks are great here. The imperial roles are good but expensive for take out. Will need to come back and try more food

Yelp
Garlic noodles are great, though portion size is smaller than expected. Love the vermicelli salads, so refreshing and a great lunch option - I've been 3x since they opened. Haven't tried the fried banana yet! I wish they also did bahn mi to go!

Yelp
The service was very nice and I love how cute the place is. It's not a sit down restaurant just a place to grab your food and go. Seems to be family owned which I can appreciate. I loved their fried banana!

Francisco S.

Yelp
Tamarind Chicken Wings were so unbelievably good. Perfect amount of crunch, salty, sweet, and sour. Will absolutely be back for more.

Yelp
I love mon superette! I tried bacogai and loved it, so happy to see them open a place closer to me. Their crab cake sandwich is one of my favorite things, but I also like their vermicelli bowls. It's a great place to grab lunch when you're in a rush.

Gabrielle L.

Yelp
Everything was high quality and tasty. The person working there was also really nice and helpful. Great service and such a cute spot

Yelp
Crunchy goodness.... Those pork spring rolls are so tasty it has a special crunchy surprise that makes it a standout

Luna A.

Yelp
the staff was very kind and the food was kinda mid over-priced IMO. no space to eat to basically just take out.
