Cute wine shop. There was a girl working who was very friendly, shared the wine club with me - which sounds super cool, if only I lived here. Good selection of wine & the staff member was able to answer the questions I had.

I have been shopping here since they opened. Justin loves wines that are pushing the boundaries of what Americans expect in wine. Huge Champagne section. Mostly Old World wines with a smattering of California. This store is for the wine lover in us all.

Went shopping for birthday gifts and couldn't have been better treated by Justin, the owner. This has become my go-to spot for wine and wine education. Highly recommend!!

As good as it gets when it comes to a wine shop with classic and unique wines not available in most big box stores. The staff is very knowledgeable and spends time with you to figure out what you like. They also have a decent amount of older vintages. Whether wine is your passion or you're just looking for something new, you need to go to Monarch.

I emailed Justin and told him I was having two events and needed about 4 cases of wine. He sent me back 3 options for sparkling, red, and white, all in the budget provided. I picked them and they delivered them the next day. Guest raved about the wines and they were all perfect. Highly recommend!

We tried this neighborhood wine shop based on the above average reviews. We were pleased with the selection and knowledge of the staff and we were looking for a special bottle, for an anniversary, outside our normal price point. We selected the bottle and it was placed in a rather flimsy paper carrier bag; the bag failed in front of the shop and the bottle broke as it hit the pavement. We took the bag back into the store and showed the manager that it was faulty and the remnants of the bottle ten yards from the front door of his store and he claimed ‘once the bottle was out of the store it was no longer our [the store’s management] responsibility.’ He was happy to offer to sell us the same vintage again at the full retail price. He showed little concern and would not replace the bottle or offer a discount. Find better customer service at the many other reputable wine shops in the vicinity.

Best wine in town with the most knowledgeable owner you could ever imagine. If you like wine that tastes like the soul of the earth, this is where you want to go. We haven't bought wine at a grocery store since Justin opened this shop two years ago. This place is a rare gem.

Nice little find on upper King. There's a great selection of wines, many that you can't find anywhere else. They are all organic without additional chemicals or preservatives. The owner or employee reminded me of the sister on Schitts Creek and had me laughing - she was so cute and knowledgeable of wines and very helpful in helping us find a gift for somebody else. Love this place and will be back! Check it out, Charleston!

Hands down the best wine shop in charleston. I Great if you want either a 20 dollar bottle for pizza night, an expensive Bordeaux or Barolo for date night, or to find a new grape to geek out over. Justin, the owner is happy to spend as long as you want helping you find the right bottle and just chatting about wine. He has also been able to hunt down some more difficult to find bottles. Highly recomend stopping in if you ate able.

What a grand wine store right in the middle of Charleston! The selections are excellent--all varieties and price ranges. Best of all, Monarch Wines is family-owned. Justin, the proprietor, will help you with all of your wine questions and he provides great knowledge and interesting choices of wine all year round. There is a back room which is very nice for company parties, etc. Everyone will enjoy coming out to support this lovely local business.

I cannot say enough good things about Monarch - the selection, the staff, the customer service - all top notch. The owner of the shop (Justin) is incredibly knowledgable about wine and after several visits, began recommending things he thought I'd like (all recommendations were perfect). Whether you're looking for a fancy wine, a unique wine or an affordable wine, Monarch has you covered. I'm also a resident of the neighborhood and happily support this small business. This is by far the best wine store in Charleston. A treasure!! Justin, the owner, is a true wine professional and wine enthusiast. I highly recommend going here if you need a bottle of wine for any occasion. A charming and welcoming store.
