"Bring a go cup from any of the local bars on Frenchmen and take a seat at Mona’s, a no-frills joint where salad, hummos and griolled meats offer a healthful option when the body needs a break. No charge for bringing your own, same at Mona’s other locations on Banks Street and Magazine." - Beth D'Addono

This is a small nice and clean restaurant within a small grocery store in the heart of French quarters. I ordered shrimp plate(grilled shrimps with sauteed vegetables served with salad, hummus and pita bread). Large fresh shrimps were grilled to perfection. Their hummus was the best I've tested ever. I called in for to go order but later changed my mind and ate there. Also ordered Turkish coffee which was authentic and delicious. I am not sure if they sever halal meat but one employee verbally confirmed the meat to be halal. Would love to see if they have a certificate from their halal meat supplier. Parking could be an issue if you visit in peak hours. But do give them a visit if you are in town. I will definitely be coming back.

This place has surprisingly good Mediterranean food, given that it is New Orleans and you dont get many options other than Cajun food.I had my lot of Cajun food, and wanted something different to satisfy my appetite and this place did it.

It is HORRIBLE!!! The waitress was not paying attention and ignore us even though the place was almost empty, and the food was horrible. We ordered the falafel appetizer and the combination kebab shish, lula chicken. Falafel tasted a little burnt, but ok. The combination kebab were pathetic. The taste was lackluster! While we were eating, we saw a huge German cockroach walking around the place and the only waitress was playing with her phone and pretending that she didn't see anything! In fact she kept looking at us, but never approached the table. I will never go back and will be sure to advise anyone thinking of going to stay away. ** Try to avoid this place if you possibly can do so.

Great customer service and as a local tour guide I'd definitely recommend for the hospitality and location. However, I suggest the establishment uses a freah store made pita or a different store brand. (Tough like steak)

Kubba made with old bitter bulgur, safiha or lahmajun is made with gyro! Tests fatty and very bad it should be made with fresh meat, chicken shawarma wrap full of lettuce and few big chunks of untasty chicken, non of his food was right or traditional middle eastern or fresh, very disappointed. We ended up eating only the fries and paying $56 for inedible plates

You know a Middle Eastern restaurant is legit when they offer labna, a tangy yogurt dip, as a side. (Also called “lebna.”) I rarely see this item on the menu and immediately ordered it. I was not disappointed—the second the dip and warm pita connected, I knew I was in for a treat. I’m hoping to return to try other dishes soon. (February 2019)

Good price for good food. I didn't like the salad dressing they used and the rice wasn't that good, but the lamb shank and the vegetables were delicious.

Beautiful isn't it? All the way down to the packaged Pita Bread from Walmart?which was served cold. Mmmmmmm Mmmmmmm exactly what I wanted to spend $30 on. Should have just dumpster dived or something perhaps
