Google
I've been here countless times and it's always been good quality food. This time I went for the Ox Tail for the first time and it was really flavorful, but you can't go wrong with anything here. The rotis and doubles are especially good. It can get busy at times... especially Friday afternoons, so try to avoid those otherwise the wait can be long

Google
Drove over an hour to try this place based on the great reviews, but unfortunately, we were disappointed. Ordered the boneless chicken curry dhal puri wrap, and while it was tasty, the portion size for $14 + tax was small. The curry was overly saucy, which made the wrap messy as the thin gravy dripped everywhere and soaked through the delicate thin flatbread. There were no seats, just high bar tables, and no extra napkins on the table. The server took our order in the front but also kept pushing additional items, which felt a bit much. Given the price point, I don’t think we will be returning for a second visit.

Google
I ordered their doubles and currants rolls they were both delicious. I am not from the area but their roti’s looked really good as they were making them at the front. It’s recommended that you order ahead so your wait is not too long. Parking was very challenging as it’s a busy parking lot with limited parking.

Google
Double is very good with tamarind sauce. Potatoes balls is not bad… but only taste good with the tamarind sauce. Service is quick and people are nice.

Google
Super busy when we went on a Saturday around 3 pm. But that tells you how popular the place is. Even though they were busy, we got our order fairly quickly. They’ve got one gentleman taking orders on a tablet, and the folks behind the counter make them super fast. Everything was SO delicious and we’ll be coming back from Barrie to dine again.

If you want doubles, go no later than 5pm-ish or call to pre-order. If you want steamy hot food, we were told by friends to go early as well. Our food was warm but I wished it gave my face a steam bath to open my pores to their goodness. Disclaimer: I missed the doubles. So close yet so far. So 3-star rating is based ONLY on the goat meal and ox tail meal. I'm sure the doubles are excellent as per many many people said. The goat and ox tail meal was very tasty but the meat was not as tender as it could (or should) be. Felt like it needed a more slow lovin on the stove. Also, I get the convenience of deboned goat meat (that one piece of meat left between bones is always so elusive) but you need that collagene and marrow to stew with the meat. I find that their sauce is a bit sweeter than other places but it still works for repeated satisfying and joyful mouthfuls. I like that their rice and peas is not overcooked and does not turn to mush with the sauce. I can imagine how delightful it must be when the rice is steaming hot. Side of pumkin was good but nothing special. Just satisfying. Portions are decent and very reasonable. Very good amount of protein. Can't complain. Mos def going back!!

Google
Tried their popular boneless chicken curry with dahlpuri roti after hearing the hype about this place. Tasty and flavour-packed!

Manuel Nunez

Google
Very delicious doubles and rotis too. I would love to have one of these locations closer to me. I recommend ordering the classic double, leave the goat for the rotis. The service is very good, the Indian guy at the entrance is very friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Mmmmmmona's. May you be in existence for the remainder of my natural life. This place is soul-soothing, belly satisfying and tastebud awakening. Tried and true over DECADES.
google avatar

Laur A.

Yelp
The ladies in the store were working so hard, I wish I could've taken a photo of how the rotis looked all freshly baked and ready to be filled! The store itself is just a counter, but theres a small standing table if you want to eat there. I took it home as I just went for a quick lunch pickup and got the boneless chicken dhalpuri roti. I asked for it mild but there's enough of a kick for me. It was on the dry side of chicken, i wished the potatoes were more saucy. The roti itself was done really well though. Id come back but I have had better roti.
google avatar

Yelp
I went to Mona's for lunch. They had one staff outside the waiting area helping customers take their order and pay with their tablet. It was convenient . But not sure if it would cause chaos as more people come in. Overall an easy process for me. I ordered the curry chicken roti. They have many staff working in the kitchen, it was impressive to see. The Roti was really good, but I felt like there could be more curry chicken filling in there. I enjoyed it still. Price was around $12 for the curry roti.

Enrique F.

Yelp
Mona's has the best roti's and doubles. Very friendly staff. A little bit salty but good. Prices have gone up but what hasn't? This place is a Scarborough institution!!! I wish they were open on Sundays but everyone should have at least one day of rest. Order ahead of you can to avoid the line up.
google avatar

Indira B.

Yelp
Went on the other night to pick some quick comfort food. The curry is not as great as my mom's but the dahlpuri is their true strength here. We ordered boneless goat, curry mango (it's a sweet, curry style: I prefer the black masala Chief blend from TnT but alas Mona cooking more in grounded in the culinary traditions of Guyana), and always our standing order is always a pack of currents rolls. Shout out to Joel and Josh who are consummate customer service professionals, very friendly accommodating and generous. I would go back more often cause the staff are great!

Sashinna S.

Yelp
I had the boneless goat roti It tasted different I heard they changed owners The food is not the same

Percy D.

Yelp
Got the boneless goat dal roti which was excellent! Very tasty and flavorful and highly recommend! The staff is also very courteous and helpful!

Yelp
It was a foodie adventure guided by Yelp. We were in an unfamiliar neighhourhood. Yelp queries showed that there were lots of good Indian and Carribean food places, so we picked Mona's out of the bunch based on Yelp review rating and numbers of reviews (Mona's is one of the most reviewed food places). Needless to say we scored again. While we were no expert in Carribbean food, the jerk chicken rotis we got were tasty and spicy. The portion was huge. They were jam packed with meat. The cost wasn't jaw dropping low yet the value, that was food quality-portion-price ratio, was good. Mona's regular spiciness level was too spicy for me. I reminded myself while I was devouring the roti that I should get mild spiciness next time. Mona's is a takeout joint. Services is super efficient.
google avatar

Lisa V.

Yelp
After all the hype around Mona's, I finally made it there. SO worth it! There was a long line, but they had a person going down the line taking all the orders. You can also order online. There were so many people working there! The service was quick and paratha roti was fresh. I got a boneless chicken roti with potatoes and I can't wait to have it again.
google avatar

Catherine S.

Yelp
Can't believe I've never written a review for Mona's... Maybe, it's a sign that I should eat out less? I went back today to pick up a quick lunch and the pandemic lunch service was as efficient as ever! I was impressed by how they were limiting the number of guests inside the restaurant waiting for their order. There was a staff at the door to greet you, let you in, take your order on her tablet, pay and wait until your order is called. All the staff working behind the counter and their open kitchen were properly masked (unlike another establishment I visited last week which just freaked me out) and handling food with gloves on. Another bonus! I ordered the usual curry goat on rice and peas and picked up a 12 oz order of oxtail for dinner. The goat curry was tender and flavourful with chunky potatoes bathing in the same delicious curry over my favourite rice and peas IN THE WORLD!!! Yes, their rice and peas is the best I've ever had. I always get my order with Mona's tamarind sauce and the hot sauce for extra tasty oomph. I just saw that they have an Ajax location so I may head out East to give it a try. TGIF!

Yelp
Have been meaning to come here for ages and never got a chance. Finally stopped by and only tried a couple of items but I can already tell everything is delicious and undestand why this place is so busy! Got a curry goat paratha wrap with pumpkin, pepper and tamarind sauce. It was sweet yet also had a nice kick to it. Very tasty. Also tried their oxtail on rice - for some reason the spiciness level was a lot higher even with the same pepper and tamarind sauce. Still delicious. Tried to get some doubles, pholouries and potato balls but they were all sold out by 5pm on a Saturday. Can't wait to try them one day!
google avatar

Julia S.

Yelp
The line was long but sooo worth the wait!! On my visit to Toronto, we ate at Mona's TWICE...it was so good & service was also great!
google avatar

Shay S.

Yelp
It has been a while since I've gone to Monas so I was pleasantly surprised to see the brand new renovations. The food has always been excellent, I was glad to see that that standard had not changed. One thing that has changed, is the customer service, it was exceptional. I ordered a goat roti, with potatoes and pepper sauce and it was absolutely delicious. * I recommend calling in ahead during peek hours and just doing a pickup so you don't have to wait in line.

Darivoj J.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Employee walking around with an order tablet reduced the wait by half in this busy place!
google avatar

Imelda M.

Yelp
Mona's Roti still tastes as good as it did before. They made several changes since the beginning of Corona and it has made the pickup experience more convenient. Their recipe has not changed so the food tastes just as good. My colleague and I stopped in for some roti. It seems like everyone else had the same idea too since there was a lineup. You know what they say, it's worth the wait. My colleague ordered a regular roti and I ordered my bone in curry chicken and potato roti with a paratha shell. It was exactly the right taste that I have come to expect when ordering Mona's Roti. Two thumbs up!
google avatar

Paul J.

Yelp
Mona's is our go to for Roti. It was a busy spot, but they have a person near the front taking orders and payment. We opted for ordering online and picking up. No eat in option, but always delicious.
google avatar

Wilma R.

Yelp
What a hidden gem this place is. The doubles are yummy & very satisfying. I like to go classic and get just channa (for $2.50/double, you can't beat the value) but I've tried the beef doubles as well and they're really good. You can see into the back where the employees are making the food, and you can tell this business is very well run. Will definitely be back time & time again!

Salini R.

Yelp
Delicious! I love this place and eat there often. I often get the doubles but occasionally get roti and curry.

Cynthia G.

Yelp
The Roti and curried chicken are the best that's what I normally purchase. However I would recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
The food is delicious and reasonably priced. I'm not sure if you can dine in but I would like to come check it out some day.

Sarah B.

Yelp
I've gone to this place numerous times; however today was by far the worst. I called to place an order and I asked if I can get a "fresh roti". Little did I know that those words hit a nerve with the individual on the end of the phone. Her name is Bibi, who went on to say that they "don't sell stale roti" and that "they feel bad when that is said". I said to her that I did not say that they served stale roti, all I'm asking for is a fresh & hot roti and that why is she giving me attitude, which she said she was not. And then, she preceded to tell on what to say next time I call to order (if this was the first time I was placing an order with them) and the attitude I received from her was uncalled for. I was assertive when speaking to her. I called again to speak to the manager and Bibi answered and indicated that she's the manager. I said that I don't want to speak to her and that I want to speak to a manager she was like "ok bye" and hung up the phone. For being a fixture in Scarborough for so long and the service they provide to their customers is unacceptable. She will make them loose customers due to her attitude. Just like children are an extension of their parents, employees are an extension of their employers. They don't deserve even one star. I messaged them via Instagram asking to have a manager call me - haven't received a call back.

Tanveer K.

Yelp
I heard about this place for a while man it was a line up, I got polari, doubles and the goat roti The Polari was light and fought and goes well with the tamarind sauce, the doubles were soft and the channa tasted amazing, the goat in the dalpuri was well seasoned, had some spice tender they were quick didn't have to wait too long for my food, just careful don't touch the roti cuz it has hot sauce and then rub your eyes lol that's why I did lol
google avatar

Shaan A.

Yelp
I really liked the roti here! It was super fresh. Came on a weekday and was served right away for takeout. They've upgraded and have an iPad system to take orders - very efficient. Lots of staff to prepare your order all while taking precautions because of Covid. Staff were prompt and attentive. Price was also super reasonable. Ate right when I got home and everything tasted amazing. They take care to prep the food really well and the roti is wrapped really nicely to ensure no spilling. I ordered the basic Channa roti which is the classic roti with a channa (potato and chickpea filling). It was delicious. I didn't find mine too spicy, but you can customize the spiciness level. You can tell everything is made fresh of when you order. I would definitely come back whenever I am craving some delicious roti!
google avatar

Joanne L.

Yelp
Tucked in the corner of a pretty ghetto plaza - honestly, it wouldn't be the kind of place I'd think of bringing my foodie cousin to if it were for the amazing reviews! The ladies that work here are AMAZING!! The girl that served us clearly knew that we didn't know what we wanted - instead of telling us to make up our minds or ask if she could serve the people behind us, she put on a lovely smile and told us what we should try - Doubles. She said if you're here, this is what you have to try. And god, it was absolutely amazing!!! I have never ever EVER in my life seen so many fresh rotis laid out on a table - EVER! We finally opted to order their Doubles and their goat roti, and seriously, it was delicious even after a 20 minute drive back up to Richmond Hill!!! Again, goat roti and Doubles - a must get at this place oh, and don't forget to tip these wonderful ladies working there!! They definitely deserv

Yelp
Best roti in the area... And I'd argue the doubles are even better than the roti. This Caribbean takeout joint isn't fancy or glamourous, but it's a top contender for blessing your taste buds (and breaking a diet!) What We Got: Doubles. Jerk chicken roti. Chicken roti. What We Liked: doubles yooo the price went up to 50 cents to $2.50 and it's still amazing! Jerk chicken and curry chicken roti are real good too. Solid customer service full of smiles. What We Didn't: the chicken roti is a bit dry. I'd definitely recommend the jerk or curry variants. Parking can be challenging. There aren't any frills, bells, or whistles here. Come in, line up, order, follow the line, pay, stand to the side, wait, get your order... And try to wait until you get in the car before chowing down!

Joe F.

Yelp
Very very delicious curry chicken roti. Bit of a slow service for a Wednesday early afternoon but I guess the wait paid off. People lined up to outside the door for a reason. Fair prices and turn around of the food trays was non stop so you know it was fresh.
google avatar

Yelp
This spot has been on my list for a really long time and I wish I had tried this place sooner! This place honestly has the best rotis I have ever had! Thankfully live 10 mins away from here and with their online ordering it makes it so much easier now. We ordered: -2 goat rotis - Meat was tender and had good flavour -1 shrimp roti - It was nice to try this as I don't see it often at other roti restaurants -4 doubles - Vegetarian ones The roti skin was so fresh and chewy. None of the filling came out. We had never had doubles before and we are hooked! They're so good and the dough is so soft and fresh. Prices are reasonable and service was prompt, just a bit overwhelming for me as it was the first time visiting. Will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone who has a craving or wants to try this spot - DON'T HESITATE! GO! It's so delicious!
google avatar

Janice C.

Yelp
Wow ... one of my biggest regrets is not coming here sooner! Mona's is just in my backyard and I finally visited today. For some strange reason I had the sudden urge to try a double today. I've seen them in pictures and my coworker raved about them, but I didn't know what to expect. I got to Mona's and there was a short line inside but by the time I left, the line extended outside! The service was seamless, one of the workers took orders and payments in line to speed up the process. While you wait, you can watch the workers prepare giant flakey rotis that honestly are the size of a small blanket! I got 2 doubles with chicken, I know they usually come with chickpeas but I don't really like chickpeas. I was so blown away with the depth of flavour!! I haven't had a lot of Caribbean food before but Mona's will definitely be my new standard. I can't wait to try their roti next time!
google avatar

Mrjay B.

Yelp
Best roti spot in Scarborough Love the preparation and right amount of ingredients in their chicken and potato roti or shrimp Curry roti delicious!
google avatar

Max R.

Yelp
Simply the best roti in Toronto. Period! The staff are incredible and the roti and the variety are unreal. I wish that they had a downtown location as the drive is 30+ minutes on the 401. But, oh so worth it!
google avatar

Citra S.

Yelp
After many years I wanted to eat doubles and found that 100 that's not Mona's doubles something has gone wrong it was the worst doubles I've ever had in my life. Sorry will never eat doubles there again trish
google avatar

Niral P.

Yelp
Firstly, the staff here is soooo nice! They went above and beyond to advise what they enjoy, make sure all our needs were met & even ensure to personally greet and say bye to their customers! They also serve very quickly, so the tight space isn't that much of a worry. We ordered two meals, which you can get either with rice or roti. The rice comes with a side of vegetables & the roti comes with dhal and curry potatoes. One we got with jerk chicken (roti) & the other ox tail (rice). The jerk chicken wasn't that flavourful, in the roti at least. The curry potatoes and dhal was too overwhelming. Good size though. The ox tail wasn't great either. The rice, even with the curry, was bland. The potatoes weren't anything special &the oxtail had a lot more fat than meat.
google avatar

Gina B.

Yelp
I love this place - warning this place gets really busy so be prepared. They have different kinds of roti and rices dishes from boneless chicken to curry shrimp to curry duck. You can choose dhalpuri or paratha skins for your roti. They have also have amazing snacks from pholourie to tamarind balls to channa to plantain chips to my favorite .... DOUBLES!!!!! I get them spicy, not to spicy and at $2.50 please they can keep coming my way!! The prices are pretty good and the taste just taste like really good home cooked food.
google avatar

Jane Z.

Yelp
BEST ROTI IN TORONTO. Delish, fresh. Yes, you sometimes have to wait but it's so worth it.
google avatar

Seema N.

Yelp
I'm no roti connoisseur, but this place hit the spot. We ordered 2 jerk chicken roti's with a coconut water and ginger beer for ~$30.00 The meal was satisfying and the food was very fresh. If you like spice you can ask for extra hot, as the hot sauce wasn't the spiciest. Overall a good meal. The ginger beer was my only disappointment-it was too sugary for me. The vibes here are really good as well. They have good music playing throughout, so you can enjoy that while you order and eat.
google avatar

Tia C.

Yelp
I certainly can thank BlogTo article on top 100 restaurants to try in Toronto for bringing my attention to this gem of a place! It's a small place, ideal for takeout and it sure is a happening one! You can really see the food is fresh and I even came less than an hour to closing time. I ordered the Jerk Chicken boneless Roti and my husband ordered the Curry goat roti. Let me just tell you, it was delicious! The inside was perfectly seasoned, the curry potatoes were delicious and the filling was very good. The jerk chicken was yum and I loved that you were able to see them de-bone the Jerk in front of you before they put it in the roti. On top of the delicious Roti's we also ordered doubles and those were just yummy as well. I think I found my new favorite roti place!
google avatar

Marj J.

Yelp
MY FAVE SPOT FOR DOUBLES AND I LOVE THEIR MANGO CURRY! There's always a lot of people every time I come to buy food from Mona's and once you taste their food you'll understand why the neighbourhood loves them!
google avatar

Eric W.

Yelp
This is the best roti I've had in Toronto. I went for the first time a few weeks ago. Mona's is located in a strip mall in Scarborough, no seating inside. You can see the ladies making fresh roti behind the counter. The lineup was out the door when I arrived so I hoped I was in for something good. I got the curry duck which was excellent. I appreciated that they offer paratha roti without split pea. The curry goat was also great. You can tell how fresh the rotis are, mine had a lot of stretch. I will definitely return!
google avatar

Wei C.

Yelp
Okay, you know how when you discover something that you wished you knew about a long time ago and the regret that you wish you had done it earlier? You know like buy 5 houses 30 years ago, invest in Apple or Google stocks, mine a bunch of Bitcoins? Well that's how I feel about Mona's Roti....why didn't I come before!!!! Every time I drove by especially during lunch or dinner there is always a line up out the door...whenever you see line ups like that it means they are doing something right. When you walk in the first thing you notice is the army of hard working women pumping out the rotis like no tommorrow! Each and every roti is made from scratch and by hand. They rotis are not store bought and you can taste the difference as they are soft, chewy and flavourful. I ordered a boneless chicken roti along with a double (dahl puri) and they were both awesome with the roti filled with chicken, channa (chickpea) and potato. The only thing was that I asked for extra spicy but it wasn't spicy at all but then again I'm a chili head:). The double was filled with channa and a hint of tamarind chutney. You can also get the meat with rice but the roti is the real star here so I recommend you try it with the roti first. There's only a few seats for eat in as the place is more set up for take out but do it eat it soon as it tastes so good freshly made! Will definitely be back to try all the other items. Oh man I wished I bought that Spiderman #1 comic when I was a kid!!
google avatar

Alana S.

Yelp
I usually don't like Roti but after trying Mona's Roti, I find myself constantly craving this! It's so good. I always get the jerk chicken and it's a great level of spice and flavour. The size of the roti is so big and it's usually enough for lunch AND dinner! Just thinking about it makes me crave it again.. The only downside is the place is really small.. I get that it's a takeout place (there's only a small table for two), but there is not a lot of room and it is always so packed in there that people have to line up so close together!
google avatar

Ronald D.

Yelp
Too spicy good roti most things are over priced curries are greasy sweet are way too sugary
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
I just love small take out restaurant like Mona's Roti-Caribbean Food!! Now Now.. you know why freshly made Roti tasted so much better... especially when I watching them making right in front of me!! Not doughy at all... and even it was thin, it wrapped and kept the tasty curry goat in place... You did not read wrong.. I am eating Curry Goat Roti and definitely enjoying it! Nice and tender hmmm not goaty at all?!! Tasted better than chicken!! I am converted! Stewed Chicken though on specials was just MEH! When anything that reminds me of my own cooking is MEH!! The chicken reminded me of chickend cooked in soya sauce. When the staffs know that we were eating in.. they put the styrofoam in the microwave to heat that up for us! ......hmmmm
google avatar

Abby A.

Yelp
It was good. The lady who took orders at the door was helpful for first timer. We bought Chicken with the Rotti and it tasted good and good portion! We also bought rice with beans and oxtail. The oxtail were not enough. Overall good food!
google avatar

Imtiaz R.

Yelp
What can I say about mona's I order a beef roti the curry beef had no taste I order 5 doubles I had to dump it for a Trinidad store I'm dispointed and the price is to much for the roti is to expensive the curry beef had no taste

Anna Elizabeth S.

Yelp
i got the curry chicken roti for take out, the flavours were very nice, BUT i have to mention, the food portion was just unbelievable. My meal was $11 for 3 tiny pieces of chicken with the curry...
google avatar

Tian Pu P.

Yelp
I got the fish roti and the chicken roti. Spice level is definitely there if you asked for spicy. It tastes really good and it is not as oily as some other roti places. You cant eat there, almost no space. The plaza its in has alot of Indian restaurant. The jerk chicken is spicy and really well done. They take visa and mastercard. Price is about $8.50 to $12.00 depending. The squash and spinach filling for roti really good.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
Have eaten lots of Caribbean food around Toronto and this is one of the best. Got the jerk chicken roti which screamed freshness, not too surprising since this was made to order including watching the lady hand pull the jerk chicken. The dhalpuri (ground split pea) roti shell is super fresh and soft, almost like facial tissue. The chicken was tender and had great jerk flavor but I wish it was just a tad stronger. Maybe it's cause I asked for her to add chicken curry gravy (most places do this upon request) to add another dimension of tastiness. Another specialty of this place, which I haven't seen at many others, is phoulourie. They're basically a larger, savoury, Trini version of Tim Horton's Timbits. One order has eight of these fried dough balls and is best eaten with the included sweet and spicy tamarind sauce. This place can be hard to find, but it's in the same plaza as the Timmy's, and facing Sheppard at the outer edge of one of the inner buildings. Also, note this is purely a takeout place. Should you go? "Yuh seein dat" Rating: 5 Tamarind-flavored Iced Capps out of 5

Yelp
Sometimes I hit up national sports on my lunch break, and if you've ever been to that national sports, it's got some basic b food around it. Coras? Does it look like I want some suburban food? A quick yelp search turns up roti hut, but then there is this place. Oddly enough, I've been to this extremely busy strip of food mall whatever autobody lot you want to call this, but not mona's. There were at least 5 ladies whipping up some rotis for the dude in the grill. I ordered a boneless chicken with hot sauce (might've been too hot for my white guy enjoyment) roti which was just so darn fresh. Probably the best roti I've had. Let's just mark it a 5.

Yelp
OMG! I had never had such tasting blasting mouth exploding experience. Came by a few times and always a huge line outside. But I went there around 3pm on a weekday , decided to try their JERK CHICKEN ROTI. Please, even me writing this afterwards, it makes me wanna eat that again. The roti is so soft and fresh. The jerk chicken is hand pulled in front of you. First, they spread the curry sauce with potatoes on your fresh roti, and then put the jerk chicken leg meat on top. With a huge spoonful of jerk sauce on top of it. If you like spicy, they will add some hot'dam sauce for you, I got medium. Yummmmmmy~ I was so busy devouring it and did not want to take my hands off the roti! That's how good it was!!!!
