Monbijou Hotel

PROS: The service and welcome from staff was amazing. People were really lovely and the location perfect. Beautiful breakfast! CONS: no kettle or tea in our room. Make sure u ask for these. I thought it must be a Berlin thing, but I found out it’s just a Monbijou hotel thing. The rooms haven’t been dusted in a long time. Phone and tables covered in thick dust. The double room was two skinny beds pushed together. Very uncomfortable beds. Again, the staff made it a great place to be. I think the boss should think about some simple comforts and compliments for their customers (comfy double beds, tea and coffee in rooms). The breakfast downstairs is £24 per person, per day.

The Monbijou is a great little hotel in a fantastic location in Berlin. We were able to check in early which was an added bonus. Rooms are so what small, but have almost everything you would need apart from a kettle, which would be an added bonus! Reception staff are lovely and helpful. Breakfast was a major let down especially for €23.50 per head. ||Disappointed that the whole bar area was closed to all guests for a staff engagement. Didn't seem right to alienate guests looking to relax in the lovely, quiant and stylish lounge area. ||Ideal location for museums and close by the river. Ideally located next to Hackesher market for tram/ S bahn from the Airport.||Brilliant restaurants in close proximity also! ||Wouldn't stay again

Stayed here for 2 nights and they upgraded my room when I arrived! The location is perfect to get around the city easily and the museums, East side etc. The lobby with the open fire is lovely. The room and bathroom was great, only thing letting it down is the room needs a lick of paint.

Stayed here for a 3 night stay and wasn’t disappointed! Flew into Brandenburg airport and caught the S-Bahn to Hackecher Markt station which is only a two minute walk away from the Monbijou Hotel. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the reception staff and given the key cards to our hotel room on the first floor and, even though it was directly opposite the main street where the trams operate we did not hear any noise from them. The room was clean and compact, but also well equipped with everything we needed, overlooking the courtyard area. The room was freshened up each day by housekeeping which was a nice touch. There is a roaring fire in the bar area which was inviting, especially after a chilly day out exploring what Berlin has to offer. The Christmas markets in Alexanderplatz were a 5-10 minute walk away (or one stop on the S-Bahn) We would definitely stay here again :)

I stayed at the hotel for 7 days, and to be frank other than the location, nothing is great about this place. For the price you pay, no coffee or tea in the room, not even instant, no Smart TV therefore as an English speaker, no media entertainment. Asked for a double bed, got 2 singles pushed together, of which have different firmness. No fridge or minibar. 1 bottle of water on the first day, never replaced for the remaining 6. To be honest I expected a lot more. There are far better options in this price range

The great thing for this hotel is only the location, cleanliness is not so nice, very small room, no tea, coffee anything for this price. Oh and 1 bottle of water only per stay House keepers are like untrained, no manner, increadible talk so loud in the hall way, opened the loud music during cleaning that you can here when you are in the room. The room has no noise cancelling at all. Last day of stay, the cleaner just knocked the door and opened the door without permission and I had to woke up. Then she judt closed without staying anything. Again around 10.30, now it is unacceptable, the old big moman cleaner, knocked the foor and asked me WHAT TIME IS IT now? (She spoke in German.) I said 10.30 am. Then she said like when I will be out. I said checked out is at 11 am. What is the problem? Then she just walked away like annoyed without saying sorry or anything. How the cleanner has the right to try to get rid of guest before agreed time. I paid for it, on the other hand, If i check out late, they will charge. The whole week judt bad manner of cleanners what a pity for hotel that invest alot on the property but not train ot monitor staff.

A lovely, cosy hotel in a great location. Public transport near enough on the doorstep and Museum Island about 10 minutes walk. The surrounding area is quite nice to explore too, with plenty of shops and restaurants. I had a single comfort room, a good size, I could see the TV Tower and Berlin Dom from my window. Very comfortable bed, the German style double, with handy bedside tables on each side, a couple of little stools and a table at the foot of the bed. There was a hanging rail with hangers supplied and an area underneath that was just the right size for my suitcase to sit. There was also a safe, free of charge and the complimentary bottle of water waiting on arrival was a lovely touch. Very pleasant staff at reception. The rooms were cleaned daily and to a good standard. I did think the breakfast option was a wee bit overpriced, especially with such good cafes nearby, so I didn't bother. The bar area was very welcoming, with an open fire. I did go up to the roof terrace to enjoy the view, even if the bar up there wasn't open yet. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Berlin and would recommend to friends and family.

I have stayed in Monbijou Hotel in August for one night. I was very happy with chosen location and room. Young guy, which checked me in, was nice and professional. Despite not really good services received upon check out from elderly not very pleasant woman (don’t know the names), I was happy to stay there and left hotel with good impression. However, in the evening i missed my train and spent hours to find my luggage (it’s another story), and I had to stay one more night till the morning, so I could take another train to Bremen in the morning. I had no other option than come back at night (around 23:30) to the same hotel, as I knew no other place to stay. I was honestly so tired and frustrated after 4 hours spending in the train station. I arrived to hotel with my luggage, found old man receptionist, doing his night shift, obviously. I asked him nicely if he has available rooms, informing him that I just checked out in the morning and explaining that I don’t know where else I can go and it will take time to look for hotel for me, etc. He answered very nervously, what was unexpected for me, that he has not rooms and he still has more to arrive and he doesn’t know. He didn’t even look at me, angry, nervous and not welcoming initially. Didn’t ask my name, didn’t even say that it’s pity and he will check or anything else, what should be done in hospitality. I told him ok, I will sit here a bit and look for a hotel. I set in the chair tired and was looking for the hotel, also chatting with my friends, who was worried about me, as I’m alone at night in the city. When I was already going to leave (in 15-20 min), as I found hotel just 1 stop from there, and while I was finishing my sandwich which i just got at the Haupfbanghoff before I came. This old receptionist started shouting at me that I have to leave before 12, otherwise he will call police as he knows ppl like me who like to sleep in the hotel lobbies 🤯🤯🤯😖😖 I was honestly shocked! As I don’t look like person who sleeps at the street or hotel lobby 😖 plus I stayed there only 15-20 min. And I told him my situation. I told him that I’m a guest and he doesn’t have a right to talk to me in this way. I found him really psycho unstable. I asked him about his name so I can leave review. He nervously removed his badge shouting at me and hiding it in pocket. Even one young man guest saw this and was shocked asked me what’s happening and offered help. However, I preferred just to leave. (Other hotel was nice and welcoming with kind ppl). However, after this situation I’m sure that I will never stay in this hotel again and all my impression about Berlin (it was my first visit) was spoiled because of this man. Very sad and shocking. Me, after working in hospitality (I used to work in hotel front office before 7 years), would never allow myself or my stuff this behaviour either guests. P.S. I feel sorry for all elderly ppl, I always respect them and help if it’s needed. This how I was raised by my parents. But this case flipped my word upside down 😒

Tiny clean room...comfy bed... incredible location...safe walking...terrific restaurants all about... boutique lotions and soaps provided...I only wish the breakfast was in a better price range.

Lovely, quiet, genteel, comfortable public rooms (do not be put off my the hotel's affiliation with Hip Hotels: nothing offensively hip about the place); the guest-rooms are small but not unusually so for Berlin; those on the hof are extremely quiet, at least in the winter. The staff is far less cross than one expects at a German hotel and some--at the desk and in the bar (I notice particularly a young barman from Philly) even charming; and all the staff I have dealt with speak and understand German (even mine), which is not to be taken for granted. these days. The breakfast, praised by others, is indeed quite good and varied (with British and American breakfast dishes, not just those ham sandwiches the Germans like because they know no better); especially good are the scrambled eggs, which, mixed with sausage and spinach, are that rarest of things: scrambled eggs left out in a heated salver that were not perfectly vile. But be warned: the staff will leave a shot-glass full of what looks like orange-juice at your place. It is not: it is wee litte joke: a powerful spiced waker-up potion which has roughly the impact of eating a tea-spoon of Wasabi. And--in the nicest possible way--the staff chortle at your reaction.

Sleek, stylish hotel that is incredibly well-positioned for museums and major sights. We had 2 rooms - a single that had a full-sized bed - on the smallish side but fine for one person. We also had a corner suite with a fold out couch - a good size of room with an ample bathroom (both bath and shower). Lighting is very dim in the hotel. Spotlessly clean. Front desk are polite and informative, but lack warmth. We didn't eat the breakfast. There is a great cafe a few doors down to the right that offers solid food at half the price. Overall would recommend the hotel.

Unfortunately, although the quality of the room is nice, I have to give this hotel a such a bad review due to customer service. I booked my room through Student Universe and used the actual hotel website to decide which room choice to pick based off the descriptions and pictures. I wanted two single (twin) beds for my sister and I for a night stay. I got a double room with one bed. I politely requested at the front desk that I get two single beds after I looked at my reservation and the website to confirm I selected the right room type. The heavyset male receptionist tried to blame me for the reason I did not have two twin beds and was rude and annoyed he had to change it. When I came back downstairs, I had the female desk receptionist who was more pleasant explain to me how I could've specified that I wanted a twin bed through the platform I used to book their hotel. After navigating the app, she also saw there was no way to specify the room choice or to differentiate the two types of double rooms in the app. Stating I booked the right type initially to get two single beds. Bottom line quality of the rooms are good, but the service is bad. Also, the rooms are really small. My sister and I had to step over our checked luggage bags to navigate our room. I don't know if it's because I'm Black, American, or both that I receive that type of customer service. I definitely would not recommend based off the customer service at the front desk.

We enjoyed very much at the monbijou hotel, we were upgraded upon arrival to a bigger room and had a big tub and a shower separately. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Amazing location a walk away from the museum island, tram station just a two minutes away also S station really near by. The only minus is that the room is a bit dark and there is no fridge. Will definitely come back!

Loved this place! It has a perfect location within walking distance to many of the major sights, and the s-bahn is right next to the hotel. Very friendly staff, nice rooms, wonderful deck. Breakfast is a little expensive, but the buffet is so big so it's okay. We're coming back for sure!

We tried to go there Friday night, the rooftop bar has not opened yet, but the very friendly waitress offered to take us up there. Definitely worth to wait for the official opening to go again.
