Monbijou Hotel (Berlin, Germany) 22 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Berlin may be Europe’s current capital of hipness, but its boutique-hotel scene isn’t all freaky furniture and graffiti-emblazoned lofts. A substantial contingent of the city’s hoteliers are embracing coziness, rather than edginess, as their guiding inspiration. And if it weren’t right smack in the mitte of Berlin Mitte, with views of the Berliner Dom, you’d think the Monbijou Hotel were somewhere in Scandinavia, so thoroughly has it embraced the warm-and-cozy vibe that’s all but swept aside the old stereotype of the cold, minimalist design-first boutique hotel." - Tablet Hotels

Google
The best thing about Monbijou Hotel is it's location. If you enjoy walking around , it's a great place to start seeing the sites. The rooms are clean and very quiet on the courtyard side but quite small. The rooftop is very beautiful and nice to lounge around and get out of your room. The breakfast was good and well balanced.

Google
Great location, one elevator so take stairs down. Small but good rooms. No coffee and tea in the room but I think it's fine with this kind of hotel. Great view from the room

An excellent stay in Berlin, in this very good Hotel. Great location , handy for all local transport, and they couldn't be enough for you. Rver cruises leave nearby, and about 10 mins walk from the nearest hop on hop off bus tour stop.||ROOM 201 , was very clean, the towels changed everyday , plenty of shower gel shampoo etc, and a bottle of drinking water provided upon arrival.overlooking the courtyard.||Booking in was seamless and staff were very helpful.||Breakfast had a bit of everything and you could have as much as you want from hot and cold options.||Roof top bar was very good indeed a good range of Malts available and Music.||No complaints from us as I say the staff couldn't be more helpful, make all the difference.Would we stay here again ? A big YES !

This was our third and very likely last stay at this hotel. We had great memories from our visits in 2022 and 2023, but this time everything changed and not in a good way. The air conditioning in our room wasn’t working, and we had to sleep in constant temperatures of 25–26°C. We reported it to the front desk every day, but nothing was done. No fan, no room change nothing. Cleanliness was also a real issue. Our white socks turned grey after just a few steps on the floor, which clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. The toilet was dirty and in need of a deep clean. Housekeeping was inconsistent sometimes the trash was emptied, sometimes not. Same with the complimentary water bottle, which seemed to depend on the staff’s mood. To make things worse, the housekeeping staff made a lot of noise in the hallways starting around 8:30 a.m., making it nearly impossible to sleep in. Add to that the total lack of soundproofing you hear everything from neighboring rooms and the hallway and restful sleep becomes a challenge. And finally, the price. It’s simply no longer justified. For what you pay, you expect at least basic comfort, cleanliness, and responsiveness none of which were delivered. A budget hotel like Ibis would provide far better consistency, less pretension, and often at a much lower price. In short: a major disappointment. Avoid if you’re looking for a relaxing stay.

I stayed 17 nights at Monbijou in July-August 2025. The positives: the location, the very friendly staff at the 24x7 reception, flexible housekeeping schedules, the soundproofing of my room, a lovely library-bar, a fitness studio (sadly, I had no time to actually use the last two), a safe in every room, and an elevator that always functioned. The negatives: I was told I was being upgraded to a double room since I was staying so long, but the double room was literally pocket-sized and impossible to move in, without bumping into something. Also and this made it worse - it was DARK. DARK curtains (and no net curtains) that couldn't be left open since there would be no privacy (my room literally overlooked a terrace garden where there were gardeners and others at work, as well as other rooms) and very few tiny, dim bulbs. And a TV that didn't work but that didn't bother me much. Otherwise a great hotel. I'll definitely check in there again but ONLY if there are privacy curtains / blinds to let in natural light and lots and lots of bulbs !

Google
Absolutely loved this hotel, lovely smell as you walk, warm cosy feel in the decor and fire at the bar, nicely decorated rooms with vast ceilings and classic balcony windows. Great location right next to a train station, minutes from the cathedral and museum island. Lovely vegan cafe right next door. I booked this as part of an easyJet holiday package and it was fabulous.

Google
Nice hotel at the city centre, especially with its surroundings, like the mounboji park being in its paths. The rooms were nice, prices were decent. The breakfast though was abnormally expensive at €23 (per person). Otherwise, this is a good hotel if you want relevant exposure to the city centre.

Absolutely loved my stay here in July. The room was adorable, beds were comfortable, breakfast was elite, and the rooftop bar was perfection!

Yelp
Tiny clean room...comfy bed... incredible location...safe walking...terrific restaurants all about... boutique lotions and soaps provided...I only wish the breakfast was in a better price range.

Yelp
Lovely, quiet, genteel, comfortable public rooms (do not be put off my the hotel's affiliation with Hip Hotels: nothing offensively hip about the place); the guest-rooms are small but not unusually so for Berlin; those on the hof are extremely quiet, at least in the winter. The staff is far less cross than one expects at a German hotel and some--at the desk and in the bar (I notice particularly a young barman from Philly) even charming; and all the staff I have dealt with speak and understand German (even mine), which is not to be taken for granted. these days. The breakfast, praised by others, is indeed quite good and varied (with British and American breakfast dishes, not just those ham sandwiches the Germans like because they know no better); especially good are the scrambled eggs, which, mixed with sausage and spinach, are that rarest of things: scrambled eggs left out in a heated salver that were not perfectly vile. But be warned: the staff will leave a shot-glass full of what looks like orange-juice at your place. It is not: it is wee litte joke: a powerful spiced waker-up potion which has roughly the impact of eating a tea-spoon of Wasabi. And--in the nicest possible way--the staff chortle at your reaction.

Yelp
Sleek, stylish hotel that is incredibly well-positioned for museums and major sights. We had 2 rooms - a single that had a full-sized bed - on the smallish side but fine for one person. We also had a corner suite with a fold out couch - a good size of room with an ample bathroom (both bath and shower). Lighting is very dim in the hotel. Spotlessly clean. Front desk are polite and informative, but lack warmth. We didn't eat the breakfast. There is a great cafe a few doors down to the right that offers solid food at half the price. Overall would recommend the hotel.

Yelp
Unfortunately, although the quality of the room is nice, I have to give this hotel a such a bad review due to customer service. I booked my room through Student Universe and used the actual hotel website to decide which room choice to pick based off the descriptions and pictures. I wanted two single (twin) beds for my sister and I for a night stay. I got a double room with one bed. I politely requested at the front desk that I get two single beds after I looked at my reservation and the website to confirm I selected the right room type. The heavyset male receptionist tried to blame me for the reason I did not have two twin beds and was rude and annoyed he had to change it. When I came back downstairs, I had the female desk receptionist who was more pleasant explain to me how I could've specified that I wanted a twin bed through the platform I used to book their hotel. After navigating the app, she also saw there was no way to specify the room choice or to differentiate the two types of double rooms in the app. Stating I booked the right type initially to get two single beds. Bottom line quality of the rooms are good, but the service is bad. Also, the rooms are really small. My sister and I had to step over our checked luggage bags to navigate our room. I don't know if it's because I'm Black, American, or both that I receive that type of customer service. I definitely would not recommend based off the customer service at the front desk.

Yelp
We enjoyed very much at the monbijou hotel, we were upgraded upon arrival to a bigger room and had a big tub and a shower separately. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Amazing location a walk away from the museum island, tram station just a two minutes away also S station really near by. The only minus is that the room is a bit dark and there is no fridge. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
Loved this place! It has a perfect location within walking distance to many of the major sights, and the s-bahn is right next to the hotel. Very friendly staff, nice rooms, wonderful deck. Breakfast is a little expensive, but the buffet is so big so it's okay. We're coming back for sure!

Yelp
We tried to go there Friday night, the rooftop bar has not opened yet, but the very friendly waitress offered to take us up there. Definitely worth to wait for the official opening to go again.
