Monbleu - Review - 9th Arr. - Paris - The Infatuation

"If you've ever dreamed of dining in a cheese shop, you’re in the right place. Past the cheese counter and glass-walled aging cellar is a two-storey dining room that’s unapologetically devoted to cheese. At Monbleu, you can go à la carte to feast on breaded rounds of gooey Saint-Marcellin paired with sweet, slow-cooked leek, or a hot dog topped with both fried and slow-cooked onions and tons of funky Taleggio. You’ll even find cheese on the dessert menu, with a citrus-spiked Brillat-Savarin cheesecake. The raclette here is one of the best in the city, with an unlimited offering of no fewer than nine flavors of cheese from smoked to truffle. Place each slice into your own personal frying pan and melt it underneath the tabletop broiler before drizzling it over potatoes and your choice of charcuterie or seasonal vegetables. Your group needs to unanimously order it to take advantage of this more-is-more mountain specialty, but no one will come out hungry or disappointed." - Emily Monaco

Google
The raclette was very good! The selection of cheeses and everything, the wine is average, not very good, and the best thing was mont d’or au four 🤤🧀 spectacular! The only thing is that the raclette is always very expensive…

We went for a Sunday brunch. Cheese selection was amazing! We got to try a loooot of them. And all of them were delicious. Brunch menu consist of all you can it cheese selection and plate of your choice (we had English muffins with egg). Staff was really nice and helpful. Prices were not too bad as well.

Google
Late review. The first time we went we were told they didn’t accept more clients because they didn’t have bread (???) Not sure if that is a French thing, but in my culture -México- that is something inconceivable to say to a client. Anyway, we went a few days later -we were “accepted” now- and the food was good, but nothing beyond the ordinary. I ordered a ratatouille and it was cold. I read very good reviews about this restaurant, but honestly I couldn’t find my experience as good as the others.

Google
Cheese for days—loved it! So many options, especially loads of sheep and goat cheese, which is perfect for me since I don’t really do cow’s milk. The staff were super friendly and welcoming—they spoke English and walked me through lots of different flavours. I left with a very full cheese paper, plus quince and crackers, and thought it was all reasonably priced. If I’d been with friends, I would’ve stayed for a drink and some cheese on the spot—it’s such a cute little place for that too!

Google
Great place for a quick (or long) lunch! Friendly staff, attentive service and great flavours on offer! We would've stayed longer but had a crammed schedule! Ambience was great and upbeat but still family friendly - great choice of tunes too!! We visited as tourists but there was plenty of locals in attendance as well. Food was delicious, well presented and balanced portion with "weight" really well. Can definitely recommend!!

Google
Hostess struggled to find a place although tables were empty. As a single diner i had to sit at the bar. Waitervmade uo gor her attitude with friendly service. I ordered agneau confit - superb. Sitting at the bar, I was able to see the chef and kitchen staff working. Cleanliness. attention to detail and pride in the work was obvious.

Google
Wet good ambiance for a date or a cozy time. Lot of cheese selection, both cold and cooked dishes. It’s a great place to try different cold cheese in one sitting. Sitting at the bar gives you a nice view of the kitchen. Especially good is the internal lighting and decor. A warning: the smell of cheese when entering is strong and might be overwhelming if you do not appreciate it.

Yelp
Stopped here for an afternoon snack on Saturday; 4 cheese selection, and 4 glasses of wine. The Rhône was delicious, and a nice contrast to the Bordeaux. Cheeses were goat, blue, truffle, and a soft one I didn't catch the name of but was the best of the bunch. They came with I believe was a purée of picketed red onion that was out of this world - make sure you enjoy that; Aimée asked for seconds! Bread was crunchy outside, soft inside, perfect crumb. When we got there it was quiet but by 530 the place was full. Great atmosphere and relaxing. Will go again when we are back in town!

Yelp
This is just a place with lots of cheese which may or may not be your thing. I typically enjoy cheese, but after coming here, I realized how much is too much for me. We ordered several dishes including a cheese platter. I think each of the cheeses had a nice taste to them, but it didn't seem like anything too special to me. It was a bit filling, but I would have preferred more variety in my meal. The service wasn't too great. The waiter was pretty inattentive, and we struggled to get the check at the end. They also weren't able to give recommendations when we asked for them. I think the value here is pretty abysmal. The quality was below average and it was quite pricey, especially compared to other restaurants in Paris. -

Yelp
Cheese shop/Restaurant. Both fantastic! The restaurant also some very nice wines and delicious plats. If I lived in Paris would be here constantly.

Yelp

Yelp
So many cheeses and only one lunch to sample. Get your cheese fix here for certain. We only had one lunch here, but could've had many more lunches and dinners before sampling all the cheeses we wanted to try. Had the most amazing truffle layered brie like cheese, though all the cheeses were exceptionally delicious. I also had a mac & cheese like pasta with Porchetta and it was delicious. I think anything with cheese here is worth trying.

Yelp
A great concept, cheese sourcing at its best for a decent price. We also appreciated the service with a friendly and competent server. What I disliked was the attitude of the sommelier and manager who was not capable of delivering on customer satisfaction. We ordered a bottle of Languedoc (~35€) that was amazing and then, decided to double it. The 2nd bottle came out weird, not corked but the taste was not comparable to the 1st one. Instead of simply replacing it, he gave us a lesson about bio wines and the inconsistency between bottles. At this low price and expected lower purchase cost, it would have been more elegant to change the bottle or suggest something else; he did not. We left a decent check (12 people total and more wine tasted) but it is the last one to this restaurant.

Yelp
This place has one of the best cheese selections in all of Paris. (Half of the restaurant is a fromagerie.) The staff are extremely nice and were helpful explaining the menu and cheeses in English. I've been in Paris for over a month and I can say, without a doubt, this is the my favorite restaurant for a reasonably priced lunch/brunch.

Yelp
Only 4 months old and worth 5 stars! Comfortable atmosphere, great service. Loved cheese combination and saucisson! Recommend for a meal or snack.

Yelp
Excellent food and wonderful wine, with great service. We were looking for a "date-night" restaurant while on vacation in Paris in August, and couldn't have been happier. The main dishes are all cheese-related. We shared a duck pate appetizer and two main courses - a pasta with ham and cheese, and a melted cheese with potatoes. The cheeses are high quality. We appreciated the great service - our waitress seemed to really respect the food she was presenting and we enjoyed wngaging with her.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this restaurant - their selection of wine is unique and delicious. The food was some of our favourite in Paris. I would highly recommend the croque sandwich and cheesecake but everything coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. The service is friendly and helpful as they were always happy to provide a recommendation or guidance, along with a taste of any wine you'd like.
