The 15 Best Hotels in Singapore to Book Now - AFAR

"A bold, art-infused boutique in the Duxton Hill neighborhood where contemporary gallery-style interiors showcase works like a towering copper KAWS sculpture and Dawn Ng’s time-lapse video. Intimate guest rooms open with floor-to-ceiling windows, while Shophouse Suites offer soaring ceilings and entertaining bars; public highlights include a rooftop T-shaped infinity pool with pink-striped cabanas, the Jungle Ballroom’s inventive Southeast Asian cocktails, and Bottega di Carna by Dario Cecchini for prime cuts. Thoughtful sustainability touches—refillable amenities, recyclable-water cartons, and a closed-loop spirits system—underscore the design-forward experience." - Charlene Fang

The 31 Best New Hotels in the World of 2024 - AFAR

"A playful, locally rooted hotel that spotlights Singapore’s creative community rather than colonial tropes, staffed by a diverse team (former Olympians, DJs, part‑time drag performers) and serving as a social hub where locals and visitors mingle at Christina’s café/cocktail bar and destination restaurants like Bottega di Carna by celebrity butcher Dario Cecchini. Guest accommodation includes 302 rooms some featuring augmented‑reality art and arched windows inspired by traditional shophouses." - Jennifer Flowers

The Most Exciting Hotel Openings of 2023

"This Duxton Hill opening is the first Mondrian (currently found in the likes of East London, Los Angeles and Doha) in Asia. As you might expect it's a high-rise–but architects have cleverly drawn inspiration from the area's Chinese shophouses and art scene to become more rooted and artsy than you might first imagine. Rooms are flecked with locally commissioned art, there's a rooftop bar and pool–plus a handful of other restaurants, from a steakhouse to a laidback diner."

We were drawn to the Mondrian, art-themed hotel for a weekend staycation. Hotel was well-located but ultimately we left generally underwhelmed. Or I suppose we had expected too much. Perhaps due to size limitation, the small room didn’t seem to be able to incorporate much of the hotel theme. It felt like a souped-up Mercure. For its relatively young age, the room’s lounge sofa looked well-used and the stool in need of some dusting/cleaning. Service was ok, transactional (unfortunately my ALL accorpoints were never credited by the hotel after more than a week. This was rectified after I contacted ALL customer service. It’s been a long while since I experienced a hotel lapsing on this). We had the hotel breakfast, which I felt the quality was very good, in exchange for limited choices. Maintenance of the coffee machines seem overdue though (each machine seemed to serve up its own version of a latte!) Kudos goes to the smiling and bubbly lady who welcomed guests and thanked them for their patience at the breakfast queue.

Excellent location, the food was brilliant, the staff could not be more helpful. It was a lovely experience and we will be back. Highly recommended!! Korean bbq close by, was delicious and very friendly environment not too far from the hotel and we went to see the historical shoe shop and purchased some comfortable shoes. The market place and laundrette was also all in short distance! Perfect for a few days to wind down and enjoy Singapore culture.

Enthusiastic staff who try their best but hotel design results in huge lines during check in and checkout. Air conditioning malfunctioned during our stay and room was really hot at night. Bathroom was nicely designed but really small, particularly at this price point.

We had booked 5 nights at the Mondrian and were concerned about some of the recent poor and average reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. On the downside the rooms are small and lack sufficient storage. Definitely a case of the interior designers preferring form over function! The service was good and efficient. We did not wait very long for room service requests. The main breakfast dining room is large and elegant and plenty of tables available around 7.30-8.30am. The roof top pool area was pleasant but only a small number of cabanas and no shade covering the rest of the outdoor seating. The quality of towels is not great and the hotel could well do with upgrading to large, fluffy high quality towels. Christina’s downstairs is a bright and fun place to have a few drinks. A huge plus for this hotel is its location. Literally a few minutes work to Maxwell MRT - a very efficient and cheap way to get around the city. Maxwell Food Centre also close by. And a variety of restaurants, bars (try Chef’s Tavern) in the immediate vicinity. Mondrian does not have the grand public spaces of the 5 star hotels but overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Mondrian Singapore – Great Stay with a Few Service Gaps We had a fantastic week at the Mondrian, booking two rooms for our family – a Mondrian Suite (with amazing views) and a Pinnacle Reserve across the hall. Housekeeping was outstanding – rooms were always spotless, refreshed quietly while we were out. The breakfast buffet was underwhelming, especially the lack of espresso coffee at a 5-star level. Luckily, Cristina’s café offered a much better experience – excellent coffee and consistently warm service from the staff, especially the young man who was there each morning. With club privileges, we returned to Cristina’s in the afternoons for drinks and snacks. Again, the service was exceptional, thanks to the attentive and friendly staff. However, it would've been nice to redeem club drinks at the pool bar instead of only indoors. The rooftop pool was busy but enjoyable – we could usually find space, and cocktails were great. Service was a bit slow due to understaffing, but staff were always pleasant. The biggest letdown was the lack of interaction from the main hotel staff. Over a week in a suite, we expected some personal engagement – even just a “good morning” – but got none. Reception also felt chaotic at busy times due to the small lobby layout. Location was a highlight – far better than expected, with fantastic dining options nearby. We usually stay at the Ritz but would now choose this area over Marina Bay. Overall, highly recommend and would definitely return.

What a fun n quirky hotel. Fabulous location in heart of Chinatown. Stylish well designed rooms making max use of space. The rooftop pool was so relaxing especially after returning from a hectic holiday. The greatest asset of this hotels was it staff. Always smiling and friendly. Nothing too much trouble. Would I stay there again?? ABSOLUTELY.

I will be completely honest — my stay at Mondrian was truly enjoyable, and I would like to share the details. The interior, room layout, and overall design were absolutely perfect. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The warm welcome and hospitality from the hotel staff were also commendable. However, if I may offer some constructive feedback: the check-in process was quite slow and complicated. As loyal members with higher-tier status, we were expecting a more seamless experience, but instead, it felt unnecessarily difficult. There were even a few things the receptionist seemed unfamiliar with, which was surprising given our membership level. Ideally, members with status should have easier access, not more obstacles. One more thing that could be easily improved — especially for a hotel of your caliber — is the consistency of the towels. Some were thin, some had different colors, and they felt a bit low in quality. I believe if these aspects are addressed, your hotel could easily become one of the best.

This is one of the best boutique hotels I have ever stayed in. The room facilities are very clean and the location is close to the center of Chinatown. It is very convenient to go to nearby attractions. The service staff is also very good, especially Yanjuan from the housekeeping department who greeted me with a big smile every morning. She is such a treasure, please cherish her! The housekeeping also did an excellent job, very attentive and considerate at check-out, providing guests with a great experience. We will definitely come back again.
