Monica's Gourmet Cookies

Google
A friend raved about these cookies so much that I had to try them for myself. And let me tell you that they did not disappoint! I ordered the white choc lemon chiffon, oatmeal raisin, white choc macadami & the iced almond which was his favorite! Probably mine too along with the oatmeal raisin. I read the reviews just to see what others were saying. The one that said she ordered twice & they were dry.....not sure what she ordered but each cookie is flavor rich and moist. There was no dryness to be found! So, these are some very good gourmet cookies & worth the price. I'll def be ordering again!!!

Joyce D.

Google
Truly, these were one of the best cookies I've ever ordered on-line. The cookies were delivered on time and the order was accurate. The flavors, especially the iced almond, were delicious. The individually wrapped cookies were in a sturdy box to ensure their freshness. I will probably not bake cookies again, (unless it's my kid's favorite) because Monica's does such a great job of providing better than homemade cookies.

Emily L.

Google
We usually get these cookies from the grocery store but we finally had the pleasure to get them right from the bakery. They are even better when they are super fresh, and the woman who helped us was so so sweet.

Pamela R.

Google
The gourmet cookies have always been a favorite of my family. I use them for all of my favorite people. They are loved and consumed by all you won’t regret buying them

John M.

Google
These cookies are my one true guilty pleasure. I discovered them at a hotel cafe over a decade ago and I am still hooked. The almond iced and lemon are the absolute best.

JOE S.

Google
I ordered these cookies for Christmas gifts to extended family. They were delivered promptly, and were delicious when opened. It was great to share with distant family some great cookies, while supporting a local bakery. The only downside was that I had to put in each order individually, and not in bulk. Not a big deal for me, put if you have 15+ orders, you might want to avoid the website and call them instead.

Katie C.

Google
Purchased a chocolate chip cookie from Meijer by this company. The dough itself is tasteless and bland, and there was a dusting of flour on top of the cookie. It was definitely not worth the price point of $2.50.

Natalie R.

Google
My husband and I have been longtime fans and proud supporters of this incredible women-owned local shop. Honestly, my whole family is obsessed with these cookies, and for good reason. Try just one, and you're hooked for life. These are not your average cookies...nothing flat or overly crispy about these bad boys... If that's your style, keep looking. But if you're into rich, decadent, and truly satisfying treats, head to the bakehouse or hop online and smash the order button (you will not regret it). Beyond the cookies being out of this world, the team is warm, welcoming, and genuinely wonderful to work with. We love the cookies and the business so much, we even featured them at our wedding! We had a variety for our guests to enjoy...Chocolate Chip, Tiramisu & I Do, Iced Almond, Red Velvet, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, and Iced Lemon. They shipped beautifully from Grand Rapids, MI to Granby, CO, arriving fresh and perfectly packaged. No elaborate setup needed—the cookies speak for themselves. I'd say they were a hit because I literally saw guests sneaking them into purses and coat pockets, which, as the owners tell me, is a pretty common occurrence. TLDR: These cookies have serious fanfare. Whether you're sending a thoughtful gift, elevating a special event, or just treating yourself, do yourself a favor—order the cookies.

Yelp
A nice little shop for the gourmet cookie lovers of the world. Not my cup of tea or my rest stop, but my wife loves it. Servers are nice, patient and helpful, and my better half is blessed with a special gift.

Brett R.

Yelp
Recieved a box as Christmas gift . Iam not sure what these are ? but I know these are not cookies. I tried 3 different ones and then sent the box back to the person who sent them as a gift since they had not tried her so called cookies also.

Yelp
I first heard of Monica's from GoldBelly. Rather than be limited to the flavors available on that site, I decided to order directly from the source. For my initial order, I chose their Monica's Signature Chocolate Chip. I was told by the recipient that they taste like cookie dough. On the subsequent order, I wanted something more chocolaty. Due to the very favorable description of their cookies, I was not interested in brownies and almost settled for the Mocha Chocolate Chip. It was a fluke that I discovered the Chocolate Delight. I ended up ordering a dozen of both the Signature cookies and the Chocolate Delight. Unfortunately, someone messed up the order. Although the packing slip mentioned the Chocolate Delight, what was packed was an assortment of flavors. The store can not be trusted with future orders.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
I rec'd a doz of Monica's vegan chocolate chip cookies as a gift from Goldbelly. I ended up throwing them away. Doughy, super sweet, yuck! But the most disappointing thing is after 3 attempts to find out the nutritional content of what I was eating, CRICKETS! So I can only imagine the calories, added sugars & fats. I called them & was assured a call back w the info, texted & emailed that just looped back to me. I can only conclude they're too embarrassed to inform.

Yelp
This review can't speak to the website, service, friendliness, or anything else. My hospital unit was gifted a bunch of these amazing cookies from a patient we cared for. If you're reading this in the far distant future, I'll set some background. Picture it: Sicily 1925. Jk. Holland Zeeland area 2021: the covid 19 Pandemic is now basically a toddler and medical workers are saving lives and eating snacks. We are tired. Worn out. Run down. Some of our amazing patients and community members send treats. These have legitimately been my favorite treat in the past two years of Pandemic, and I've had some great ones! I lived in Tampa Florida and so I have two states of snacks to compare. I feel like that makes me a subject matter expert. The cookies: the lemon one was good. The almond one blew my mind. I'm about to place an order or something. I have to get more almond. I tried a pumpkin one too. That was pretty great as well, but nothing beats that almond cookie. They're soft and delicious. I'm usually a crunchy cookie person but this just feels like an entire decadent dessert. You have to experience this for yourselves. Instant morale boost. Instant happiness. Instant seratonin. 10/10 I will never again want to drive to GR for Crumbl Cookie when I can have-These.

Yelp
So I spotted this cookie shop when I was inside Schuil's Coffee. So I decided to come a little later that week. I tried the cinnamon roll. I also tried a PB, and red velvet. I have in the past gotten cookies at Horrocks, I have tried the pumpkin which is do very delicious. I have gotten iced lemon as well also a tasty treat. With my visit to Monica's, I really enjoyed the red velvet, I got the peanut butter dipped that was a nice balance of sweet and salty. These cookies were soft and moist. I really thought I would enjoy the cinnamon roll but it was really wet in the middle and seemed to be goopy. I'm a fan of gooey, not goopy. So I was really excited to to try out some cookies.

Jackaline R.

Yelp
Absolutely love these cookies! They are my go to every holiday season for gift giving ideas. Love how soft they stay even after shipping.
google avatar

Sarah V.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE these cookies! The texture and taste are so unique to any other cookie out there. It's like a heavenly marriage of edible cookie dough and an actual cookie. I love the Iced Lemon, Peanut Butter Dipped in Chocolate and the classic Chocolate Chip. She also started making Lactation cookies for new mommas which I think is absolutely amazing. I also decided to pass the love onto the clients I work with, and regularly order them as gifts. They all love them as well! One even said it was decided among their office as the "absolute best cookies!" Plus, their customer service is amazing. Can't wait to keep watching this business grow!

Yelp
I received a dozen these from Goldbelly and these are honestly the worst cookies I've ever had in my entire life. And I've eaten A LOT of cookies...cookies are my favorite. But if this is what cookies were supposed to be like, would never eat a cookie again. The entire thing just crumbled when I bit into it. After I managed to get moisture back into my mouth, I could taste the worst fake flavors I've ever tasted. The caramel flavor reminded me of the fake syrup you find in a motel lobby coffee corner. I even could smell the fakeness before I bit into it. The chocolate is awful too! How do you screw up chocolate?! Where are you getting your ingredients? They are horrible. Anyone who likes these has zero tastebuds.
google avatar

Nola G.

Yelp
I first had Monica's Gourmet Cookies years ago when visiting Grand Rapids. I fell in love with these unique, flavorful, decadent cookies at first bite. The texture (soft, thick, and dense) and appearance is not like other cookies on the market. You can taste the quality of the ingredients. My favorite flavor so far is Monica's Signature Chocolate Chip. Today, I also tried the "Caramel Rock!" There are also fun flavors like Almond Toffee, Candied Chocolate Chip, Mocha Chocolate Chip, Sugared Lemon Blueberry, Vanilla Pecan, and more. They also offer gluten-free and vegan options. Check out the website for iced, chip, or nut options. This location seems to have limited store hours due to COVID but the sign on the door also states they do curbside pickup. The cookies are also sold in several shops and restaurants around Grand Rapids, in other cities in Michigan, and on QVC. What a fun gift to send to someone to sweeten their day!! Warning...these cookies could be addictive! www.monicasgourmet.com @monicasgourmet

Yelp
Wow - these cookies are out of this world! I'm gluten free so I can only speak for the gluten free ones but I must say - my oh my are they delicious. The cookie is so moist and soft that it is almost as if you are eating cookie dough but the totally cooked through and can't make you sick kind of cookie dough ha. That truly is how decadent they are! Unbelievable. I've had the peanut butter dipped in chocolate and the lemon iced. Both are outstanding. I wish all of the varieties came in gluten free as I'm sure they are all just as tasty as the two I've had so far! I still have an almond iced one and chocolate chip yet to eat but the urge to eat them all at once sure is strong!
google avatar

Jamee K.

Yelp
Some of my fav cookies! I feel Like they are in their own category bc they have a different but delicious dense texture. Try the iced almond cookie
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
I absolutely love Monica's cookies. The gift shop in the Amway hotel carries three of the flavors and I have to fight myself not to go and get one every day as I work next door. They are so soft and rich tasting. The almond flavor is by far the best tasting cookie I have ever had. The only downfall is that they are very pricey.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
Move over Famous Amos and Mrs. Fields, this is not your ordinary cookie. Although it is difficult to sum up in words what a Monica's cookie is like, I will give it my best. These ultra-rich cookies are one of a kind. Their cute unassuming shape, like a cute lump, hold so much goodness within them. They are soft and decadent. I have heard many people moan in pleasure as they take their first bite. They are sneaky in the sense that they make you think you are being naughty and indulging in dough straight from the bowl, but these little babies are already baked. That's the genius and uniqueness behind these little delights. I could go on forever about the cookies, but let me tell you about the shop. The shop is a lovely large open space. There is a counter/cookie display with all of the daily cookie offering laid out and there is a full service coffee bar too, serving up Starbucks coffee. There is simple clean black tables, a high top bar with squishy stools, and some over-sized lounge chairs next to a quaint fireplace. Pop in for a cookie, or stay a while and make a date with a plate of cookies. Either way, you're going to leave with a smile on your face. Bonus, they offer free Wi-Fi!

Stacey H.

Yelp
I got a box of the 16 count variety of Gluten Free cookies for my 50th birthday and I was so excited. Well, they are the worst tasting cookies I've had in a long, long time. They have a grainy texture, bad tasting and horrible after taste. They give Gluten Free a terrible name! Don't waste your money! Very Disappointed, Stacey H

Yelp
I ordered these cookies on Goldbelly as I had read many good reviews about them. They are an acquired taste, not a regular cookie and not my favorite. They were also very expensive, 12 copies for $40. I did receive free shipping so that's likely why the price is a bit higher. I would not recommend.
google avatar

Mindy K.

Yelp
Ordered gluten free cookies to NJ. Tasted very good unlike most gf cookies. I highly recommend the almond and chocolate chip especially.

Ella A.

Yelp
Um. Gee. Ah. Welp. I wish I Never Found these cookies.....because THEY ARE ADDICTING. A friend had them in her refrigerator and she gave me a little bite. Oh, Myyyyy. They are almost like fudge. The consistency is, DEFINITELY, not like a typical cookie you would buy at your local bakery. These are very dense, thick, like i mentioned, FUDGE LIKE and best of all.....not TOOOO SWEET. They are, well, perfect. Monica. Monica. Monica. You have a GOLD MINE here......thank you for making these cookies the ARC of your life....you chose VERY WELL my friend. There is a REASON you are successful. SMILE.

Yelp
Looking for America's best gluten free cookie, we ordered from Monica's through Goldbelly. $55 for 12 cookies and meh, no better than homemade. Cookies were dense and more like scones. Maybe better on-site, but oh well.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Delicious cookies! Quick delivery and great communication!
google avatar

Denny E.

Yelp
The cookies are amazing! I've tried four of the flavors, and love the taste, consistency, the way they look - everything about them. They're a perfect size, and the richness of taste is incredible. What's even more attractive to me is the customer service, however. I had ordered several desserts from a website that aggregates a variety of unique food items, and one of the items was gluten free cookies from Monica's. There was a glitch with Federal Express and I didn't know if I would get the cookies on time. It was over the weekend, and as soon as I knew there was an issue, I left an email response on Monica's website. Within a very short period of time, I'd received an email from Monica directly, explaining the situation and letting me know that she had in fact overnighted the delivery. Unsolicited by me, on my doorstep on Monday, was a large tin of delicious cookies as a gesture for the inconvenience and stress I'd experienced. That level of customer service is all too infrequent, and I'm delighted whenever I find an owner who "gets it". There's very little else to ask for in an online retailer: fabulous, creative, delicious product, an owner who's engaged and oversees the operations down to the fine details, and attentive customer service. I will be frequenting her website for gifts to lucky friends in the future.

Lindsay Q.

Yelp
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Monica and her cookies. I used to work for a company that would send these cookies to all the new hires. It was a HUGEEE hit! Knowing how good they were, I just had them at my wedding and have always been a full supporter of these cookies and an advocate for Monica's business. Everyone who had one followed up to see where they came from and asked where they can get some. I have never met anyone yet who doesn't just LOVE them. Monica herself is wonderful to work with and her product is top of the line! I can't find any other cookies like it and the customer service is always stellar.

Tricia M.

Yelp
I ordered some of the 'quarantine mix' for my daughter's work. They gave high marks to these delicious cookies!!!
google avatar

Chelsea K.

Yelp
When there was an issue, Monica fixed it completely. I will use her for our next big gathering, but will definitely order even earlier than 2 weeks out. These cookies fly off the shelf. Thank you, Monica!
google avatar

Will A.

Yelp
I get their cookies while shopping at Village Market in South Haven. I really do like the Caramel Rock. Most of the time, the cookies are spot on. I did think when I had one cookie it was a bit more like cookie dough taste, but it still tasted great. I hope when I make it up to Grand Rapids that I can stop by the actual shop.

Kelly S.

Yelp
I was sent a box of chocolate chip cookies as a gift. Not sure what the hype is about. I've had store bought cookies that taste better. My 9 year old even spit the cookie out. I would describe these as so-so at best
google avatar

Wendy R.

Yelp
I love these cookies I think they could be a little more moist but I think they are a perfect treat if you're looking for a gourmet cookie that's not too sweet. I love the selection of flavors pb/chocolate is my favorite. I also love the presentation (in the jars) I think it adds a cute homey touch.
google avatar

Sara B.

Yelp
Okay, so first thing is first: once I figured out how to eat these, I can't STOP eating these. I think for all those who are unnerved by the "unbaked" quality, or the texture-- try this with your chocolate chip cookie. Pop your cookie into the microwave for 9-12 seconds. It'll warm slightly and start to just melt the chocolate chips AND YOUR MOUTH WILL THANK YOU. Nay, your SOUL will thank you. It'll get you closer to a traditional cookie, but give you that special extra quality that makes it gourmet. That said, I'm mad to have discovered these little lumps of Nirvana as I'm trying to lose weight for upcoming nuptials, because I want to eat these bad-boys all day. I love the doughy recipe, and I love the chocolate chips. I had one once a few years ago and, like some of these reviewers, was unnerved by the texture. After stopping in at Monica's cafe (which is JUST SO ADORABLE and friendly, with her and her kids working the storefront), I bought a wider selection and gave it another shot. This time when I got home, I thought, why not warm it up? I'm a cookie dough lover, but I love a warm, gooey cookie too. So, I did it. 12 seconds did the trick. The chocolate chip cookie that I once frowned over is now my biggest temptation when I'm at the grocery store. Monica's cookies are WHERE IT'S AT. :D I also adore her sugar cookies with the icing, no warming needed-- I am a sucker for the gratuitous dough. :)) Mmm!

Marie W.

Yelp
Had a chocolate chip cookie purchased at Fresh Thyme. Very disappointing. The texture and taste is that of a cookie half baked. I will stick to making and consuming my home made cookies.
google avatar

Valerie H.

Yelp
These cookies are adorable and scream gourmet from first glance. I was totally enticed by the icing that so elegantly drapes the top of these little cookie mounds. However, upon biting in, I was quickly disappointed. I expected the icing to be quite sweet, and it is. The intense sweetness of this icing definitely calls for a less sweet cookie base. These cookies are super sweet and super buttery. Which is cookie dough overload... In a bad way. The texture is very dense and has an underbaked feel, which I like, but the outside needs to have at least a touch of toasty baked brown to it to pull out some sort of flavor. I wanted to love them, I really did. Especially at three dollars a pop. But I can't say I even almost like them. They are much better to look at than to eat.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Tip for goldbelly orders- I put mine in oven for 12 minutes at 350* and I find it AMAZING

Jude M.

Yelp
There's no doubt that Monica's cookies are tasty...but, they are way too expensive for the amount that you get. My advice is if you want a great cookie and you have the time, bake them yourself it's not that difficult. I'm happy to support the small business owner but at $3 for a 2" iced cookie is ridiculously high. If they were bigger then maybe the public would buy more. ‍
google avatar

Barbara W.

Yelp
Heard this was the place to stop for cookies, so I stopped to pick some up for the office this morning. The hours on the door said 8-6 Mon thru Fri... However no one was there and the door was locked even though the open sign was lit up... There was also no phone number given in the door or on the web to call and get the correct hours. Pretty shoddy way to do business, I won't bother going back.

Haso K.

Yelp
The cookies to me were average, overpriced and the chocolate chip has been beaten by Jimmy Johns and Subways Chocolate Chip. In addition when i gave a fair review to Monica she decided to threaten me with a lawsuit/police over a 3/5 rating - I boycott the ones that threaten my Freedom of Speech and Opinion. The lowest to me a Cookie Place can go is becoming un-american. I will never buy a Monicas Cookie Again. Best of Luck Monica.
google avatar

Kimberly B.

Yelp
Love these cookies - my favorite being the lemon. Rich and buttery, they are delicious. The only downside is the price...but who can stop a woman on an amazing cookie sugar craving. I frequently buy at Westborn Market, but definitely planning a stop at the Grand Rapids location.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Cute little cafe. Starbucks coffee. Quiet but the chair are very uncomfortable and the tables are tiny. Enjoyed it though. I'll be back as long I don't plan on sitting too long.

Michael S.

Yelp
They're ok. I don't see what all the fuss is about. They're just ok - but there is nothing special about them. When you're paying $2/cookie, I would hope them to be bigger or be different somehow. Unfortunately, I just don't think they're all that great. Most cookies from any restaurant are just as good. I guess the gourmet part comes from the nice box they're in with the ribbon.

Dan L.

Yelp
I must say Wendy is correct. I received this as a gift from a wealthy client. Seeing the beautiful presentation and heavy weight of the box, I naturally assumed I was in for a treat. Instead I was puzzled bite after bite. I have never tasted cookies like these, ever. And thats not a good thing. COnfused, as I do have gourmet taste buds, I assumed I had eaten something which had shocked my buds, and thus they were not accepting the delicousness at that time. But it never changed. I gave some to family and friends, to see if it was me. It was all of us. But i figured, ok, maybe they werent cooked right, a bad batch? UNwilling to throw them out as I am cheap at heart, I baked them in the otaster over. They went form a 0 to a 1. Not much imporvement. Still angry that I couldnt fix this, I sandwiched them in a Foreman's grill, to se if direct plate contact might do something. Nothing. These are unfixable. I think they need a dash of salt in the dough so that they taste like something. Honestly, I didnt think cookies could be so bland and tastleess, despite the fact they were loaded with quality chunks of chocolate and looked nice (depite their oddly white color, i assumed this was some sort of fancy french thing). Wendy said it best, great presentation, but OMG the tyaste is wrong....its just wrong....

Yelp
I live in Chicago and we have these delicious cookies available to us at a local store. The almond and chocolate chip cookies are amazing! I love the dough like texture. I will for sure be back for more and will gladly stop by the shop when I visit GR next!

Marie W.

Yelp
I had the chocolate chip cookies. These are not the typical chocolate chip cookie. They have the the texture of a shortbread cookie. Dry, crumbly and not too sweet. They were a good shortbread cookie but for $2.00 a cookie I expect a little more. I'll still probably try a couple other flavors that might be better with the shortbread texture but these will not be my go-to for a chocolate chip cookie. Wealthy St. bakery is one I would probably choose over this one.

Yelp
On my husband's birthday, we were taking a bus trip with other retirees to Indiana. I thought, what would be the perfect treat for 46 retirees to help my husband celebrate his "80th" birthday. Monica's Gourmet Cookies, of course. I purchased a variety of cookies, packaged them into "Celebrate 80 years" little bags and off we went, After our host made the announcement of having a birthday boy on board, the cookie treats were handed out. At our rest stop, I had so many people come up and say that these were the best cookies they've ever had. Some even shared, eating half of their cookie and then trading with someone else, to eat their half. At first, people thought I had made them and wanted the recipe, but I had to confess that they were from Monica's. If I had thought ahead, I should have asked if I could have seals to put on the bag as a little advertisement when I picked them up. Needless to say, these cookies were a big hit and I definitely will be back to get more. The problem with them is that you can't just eat one, unless you have a strong will.
google avatar

A R.

Yelp
The plain chocolate chip cookies are literally the best I have ever tasted. I am out of state and was introduced to them by my in laws who live in the area. If I was close to this shop I'd be in big trouble! They're definitely unique and I haven't found anything like them anywhere else. I look forward to Christmas or birthday boxes that have these gems packed in them.

Wendy W.

Yelp
Sorry, I beg to disagree with Megan's review. I had ordered these cookies before for friends who always politely thanked me, but I had never ordered any for myself before. Monica does a beautiful presentation, but I don't care for the taste and texture. They DO taste like unbaked cookie dough (even though they are baked, but since there is no color to any of the cookies it can't be for very long or with any real heat). That does not appeal to me - I prefer a chewy cookie with more visual appeal. Maybe they're better at the store? In any case, I can't see ordering again.

Ainslie G.

Yelp
We had the pleasure of trying these cookies when we were on vacation from Village Market in South Haven. Funny, that people are complaining that they taste like cookie dough - that is precisely what I LOVED. So unique and delicious! Wow, I'm craving them! Anyway, we had the caramel bar, peanut butter with chocolate and the chocolate chip cookie. All were fabulous but the chocolate chip cookie was the best cookie I have ever had in my life!!

Chris C.

Yelp
I consider myself a cookie expert because I have been fortunate to try cookies across the US. These cookies are so fresh and you can tell the ingredients use the highest quality. Look out Mrs. Fields, these cookies are the best!!! I have been there 5 times and the service is always outstanding with friendly staff and most important cookies are to die for!!!!

elizabeth K.

Yelp
I have given Monica's cookies to friends and relatives for special occasions for years and people always rave. There is simply nothing else on the market like them. She is always coming up with new flavors too and constanting improving her selections with new varieties. Her cookies look small and harmless and you think you can eat a few of them, but then you bite into them and your mouth explodes with rich flavor. By the time you are halfway through one, you begin to get full. They are so delicious you want more, but so rich that you can only eat one at a time. They are great with the Starbucks coffee Monica serves too. Absolutely fantastic!!!!!!

Cydney F.

Yelp
When I saw the cookies, I should have known better, but they were so expensive, I said they must be good. Boy was I WRONG. The presentation was beautiful and that was it. In MY OPINION they look undone but when you bite into it , It is somewhat done but the flavor is not good or lacking flavor. The people who like these cookies bless their hearts but must have NEVER had a GOOD cookie. If you want a good no I'm sorry EXCELLENT full of flavor cookie that is TOTALLY worth price(which is not bad even with shipping) check out The Cravory. OMG they will make you want to go tell Monica "REALLY". Bless Monica, I wish her the best but those cookies are AWFUL. Her store looks really pretty , her packaging is pretty but those cookies are YUCK!!!!
