20 Best Taiwanese Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"The specialty at Monja Taiker is the red grain pork, decadent and deep-fried slices of pork reminiscent of Cantonese char siu. Round out any meal with the minced pork rice or the pork and mushroom dry noodles." - Cathy Chaplin

I gotta say, very consistent what I believe to be taiwanese comfort/street food. Of course I haven't been to taiwan before but the flavors of the food are comforting for me as a chinese person. Simple stir fry meat sauce over rice with pickled daikon and simple cabbage that offers a mild sweet flavor and nice crunch. What's there not to like. Service is fast since they're rather small indoor seating so it's easy to flag down staff to order. Of course there's also outdoor seating too, but it's "fast" food since you order and in about 10 minutes or less the food is already at your table. We're usually in and out in under 30 minutes.

I have been to Monja since my high school time. It is a very convenient place to eat quick and nice food. They have the best noodles and the best fried salted chicken. Their taste is exactly Taiwan style. It is also a good place to hang out with classmates and friends there to chat and play games. I love this place!

Google
They deep fry their meats really well. I tried the popcorn chicken, fried pork chop, and red grain pork. All had a nice starchy and lightly crispy crust with moist meat inside. It’s like they applied the Taiwanese popcorn chicken crust to the pork chop and red grain pork, which is a good thing because I think their popcorn chicken is exceptional. (Note: I’m used to the pork chop being fried differently and I’ve never had red grain pork before.) From the photos, I was afraid the red grain pork would be dry and not taste good, based on my experience with HK style char siu, but I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious and moist it actually was.

Monja Taiker is located in Four Seasons Plaza on Gale. I remember this used to be a good spot for Taiwanese food. I thought it was pretty popular. I went recently and it was empty. I got a soup and it was served in two layers of a compost-able bowl. After drinking half of it, it started leaking all over the table. The wontons were good and the rice balls were cooked well. The soup had good flavor. Free parking - a big lot but it is usually crowded. Check the underground parking lot if needed.

This plaza is full of yummy restaurants and we randomly decided to eat at Monja Taiker because we were walking around and saw other diners inside. Great, no-frills, solid Taiwanese food. The menu is huge but includes all the classics like pork rice, beef noodle soup, popcorn chicken, milk tea, etc. The interior is small but we managed to get seated immediately on a Friday night. We ordered Monja Red Grain Pork Rice (most popular item), Beef Noodle Soup, and a spicy side dish of seaweed, bean curd, and pig ear. Everything was actually really delicious and satisfying. My favorite was the char siu, I think this restaurant calls it "Monja Pork". It seems to be their specialty. It was slightly dry but the outside texture of the pork is really good. It's crispy and slightly sweet, really different from the char siu I've had elsewhere! The pork rice and noodle soup were tasty, very clean with good flavor (though I prefer mine with more fat! Haha) The side dish was a good complement to our meal, but I wish it was spicier. I was really surprised by how fast our food came out. The service was efficient as well. What a hidden gem! I'm glad we randomly came in here, I will be coming back whenever I am in the area :)

Google
Taiwanese spot known for their crispy “char siu” pork (red grain pork). My sister raves about this place for its plentiful serving size, delicious food, and reasonable prices. We were glad to see that they’re still operating during covid, and when we called in, said they were open from 11am-8pm. They offer takeout and there’s free parking since it’s located in the Diamond Plaza. Their A2 red grain pork with rice is a popular option and good for a first time visitor. The texture of the pork (especially the end piece) is so crispy and succulent. I liked that they mix browned pork with the rice and provide sautéed cabbage and pickled veggies on the side. I personally prefer the red grain pork with the dry noodle (C1) although I definitely recommend mixing it well since all the sauce drops to the bottom. The noodles were perfectly chewy and there was a generous amount of bean sprouts. We got an order of popcorn chicken and they made it fresh. I like that it’s not overly salted like at TenRen. Also got the Hokkaido milk tea with boba which was a good size and had the right amount of sweetness/creaminess. After we called in the order the food was ready in 15 min. They do take credit card. We fed a family of four for ~$32 which was a great deal. Overall a yummy option for when you’re hungry and are craving some Taiwanese food.

Google
This is my second attempt at Monja. The first time my pork chop take-out looked and tasted outright spoiled and just went into the trash. But I keep seeing this place packed with people, so I tried it again. Pretty underwhelming. Had Beef noodle soup - 4⭐: good fragrant broth, tasty meat and veggies, but very bland and a bit overcooked noodles. And Steamed chicken with rice - 3⭐: average chicken, not entirely bland, but dry, very stale rice (surprising), unappetizing veggies. In the end I'm not sure why so many people come here. Am I ordering the wrong dishes? It's definitely a very cheap place, but the food is not great. Note: The parking lot can get crowded, but there's always a lot of available parking underground.

Google
A great Taiwanese restaurant, with all the dishes that you might expect. The cold noodles, vegetarian, were delicious. The fried chicken, definitely order it. The vegetables with sprinkling of meat is worth ordering as well - and to meet your mom's advice to eat your veggies. We also had the Boba tea, it was OK (get one next door at the matcha place).

Yelp
Our family visited Monja Taiker on a Tuesday evening around 5 PM, craving some good Taiwanese comfort food. As longtime customers, this review is well overdue. We ordered some usual favorites: - Monja Red Grain Pork Noodle (C1) - Ground Pork with Mushroom Dry Noodle (C5) - Monja Red Grain Pork (E1) - Fried Chicken Steak (F5) - Taiwanese Sausage with Sticky Rice - Beef Noodle Soup (B17) - Chicken Steak with Rice Combo Every dish hit the spot--warm, flavorful, and satisfying. This is the kind of food that brings you back again and again. We devoured everything! Service was friendly and attentive as always. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Too much MSG and no shaved ice now. Service is ok. Dishes are disposable. Suggest noodle extra if you are hungry.

Yelp
This place is located in Four Seasons plaza on Gale. I used to come here a lot since it had good lunch deals and portions. Haven't been here since probably 8 years ago and decided to get the red grain pork rice for dinner since it was next to half n half for some boba. The food was just ok. To be fair, I may be a bit spoiled by having way better Taiwanese food elsewhere. The popular red grain pork was slightly dry. They only provided some Napa cabbage and one piece of yellow radish. Other places, as comparison, provide way more generous flavorful sides. The dish felt underwhelming and was disappointing. Probably better when it's eaten fresh at the restaurant. I suggest to come here only for lunch combos!

Yelp
As a Taiwanese person who has been to Taiwan multiple times, I approve! The service is quick and the food is good. I'm a big fan of the rice dishes as it comes default with the mushroom pork rice and other sides including veggies. I tried the popcorn chicken rice which tasted authentic. I also had the braised beef noodle soup; I feel like it was okay and I've had better in terms of the flavor but the noodles were bouncy and yummy. The beef was also very tender. I ordered a side of red grain pork and it was so delicious! Very flavorful and one of my favorite parts of the meal next to the rice. There is plenty of parking but it's located in a busy plaza; there is an underground parking lot that has even more space if needed. There are also a lot of sweet treat options nearby for dessert.

Yelp
What can go wrong with Monja on a "I don't know what to eat" night? NOTHING. They are famous and popular for their red grain pork. Love it fried crunchier, but nothing can go wrong with popcorn chicken too! So much flavor, crunchy, nice vegetables and rice with some minced pork. Service might not be as good but c'mon guys, it's worse in asia! Lunch specials are even more worth it here! It comes with a green tea or black tea!

Ordered the following for dine in: - 1 wonton noodle soup = $10.99 - 1 assorted balls noodle soup = $10.99 - 1 fried squid tentacles = $8.99 - 1 chicken roll rice = $12.50 SUBTOTAL = $43.47 TAX = $4.13 TIP = $10 OVERALL TOTAL = $57.60 Service was quick. Relatively small inside but there are a couple of outdoor seatings. There are also other locations throughout SoCal.

Yelp
Awesome new find!! I love this place! My new favorite Taiwanese restaurant and reminds me of Sim Ba La in Rowland heights before it closed. The staff is really friendly and fast. The food is cooked quickly and is really flavor. I think the portions are really good and worth the price. The ambiance is simple and clean...wooden tables outside, clean tables inside. I love the variety of the options and have been to Taiwan a number of times and eaten a lot of different street food places there, and I would say this place is on point legitimate in options, flavors, etc. Another reason I love this place is because my daughter wanted to practice her Chinese with the guy who took the order and he did not skip a beat speaking with her in Chinese back-and-forth without making it harder for her than necessary. Very friendly about the whole experience. give this place a try today!

Yelp
There aren't too many Taiwanese food options so I'm glad I've found Monja. This place is a hidden gem and I go out of my way every once in a while to get lunch here. My go to orders are always popcorn chicken rice and their spicy wonton with dry noodle. My bestfriend got the C1 and I forgot what it was but he enjoyed it and had no complaints considering he's Taiwanese. All together our two meals cost a little less than $36 with tip!

Yelp
Food is great, ordered the noodle soup with pork on the side. I'll give it 4 stars. The service was 1-2 stars... I ordered black tea and the waiter brought me sweet tea... I told home I don't drink sweet teas... can I get unsweetened... he said yes but will have to charge.... I'm like WHAT???! Finally he realized ok I'll exchange it... Ambiance ok, some rude people in here and bathroom kinda dirty

Yelp
I was greeted immediately when I entered the restaurant and seated. The server could tell that I wanted the table that hasn't been cleaned even though I didn't ask for it. Once he cleaned the table, he offered me to switch the table, great customer service indeed. Our food was served quickly! Their price is slightly higher than the other restaurant in the same plaza but the quality matches it too. One thing I love about their service is their service integrity. After I finished my order, the server mentioned they have a special when I order more than $35. I thought he was pushing for more sales. I then asked how much more do I need to order, to my surprise, he said we've already ordered over $35. I really like how they proactively offer the free food without being asked especially, I didn't even know about the special. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Very delicious Taiwanese home-cooked dishes. I went there with my husband and sister after work to taste them. The sausages were very authentic and had a strong flavor. The cabbage in my husband's braised pork rice was so delicious and sweet. I ate a lot. It's a good place to satisfy your daily cravings.

Yelp
I always think of this place when it comes to lunch specials! I always get the red grain pork lunch combo (comes with a free drink). The meat is crunchy and juicy, satisfying my need for taste and texture. The drinks come with either green or black tea. There is indoor seating and some tables at the front of the restaurant. Their service is good!
google avatar

Janet C.

Yelp
The quality of street food, the price of a restaurant. Since the pandemic, they've switched to paper plates and bowls, which really affects the appetite. The quality has declined while the prices for each dish have increased. It's really a bit too much. 路邊攤的品質,餐廳的收費。 自從疫情之後改成紙盤、紙碗,非常影響食慾。品質下降還提升每樣餐點的價格,實在有點過份了。
google avatar

Yelp
Classic Taiwanese fare. The red grain pork and popcorn are consistently good here. We ordered them with lunch combos and the dry noodle was pretty good as well -- it could probably use some chili oil for some flavor. The noodle soup is a bit bland. The veggies that come with the combo were lightly pickled and offered a nice crunch. Good value for the price. Service is decent!
google avatar

Anna Z.

Yelp
I wish they had simple comfort food like this ready to go in West LA. For $15, you can get a lunch set with a satiating portion of rice, protein, and veggies! Not to mention the iced green tea that came with this lunch set was heavily brewed and surprisingly delicious (not pictured). This was about two servings for me, and I loved the well seasoned pork over the rice and the pickled cabbage side the most (top right). I would love to come back here to try their noodles. This place is a 10/10 and I would love to return to try more Taiwanese flavors when I'm back in this area!

Yelp
Food is satisfactory for the price. Portion is good. Would go back to try out their other menu.

Yelp
I just had lunch here with a couple of friends and the experience wasn't bad. The location is a little small, but they do have adequate 2-4 people tables inside, and a few tables setup outside. The wait staff is courteous and got our orders out pretty fast. I had the lunch special combo D. My choices were the Monja red grain pork with dry noodles and a half sweetened green tea. There was also a small cabbage salad that wasn't bad. The Monja red grain pork was pretty juicy, and the ground pork on the dry noodles was ok. The noodle was pretty bland to be quite honest. We also had the popcorn chicken, and it's exactly what you would expect with the basil, but the spice level was a bit mild. Overall, the experience was decent and you can't really beat the amount of food you get for roughly $15 and some change.
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the combo options for lunch....I ordered the ground pork with mushroom rice, chicken, and a green tea. Portions were good size, prices were a good value, and the food was very tasty. The service was very efficient especially given a 1130 arrival. They are located in a large plaza with plenty of garage and outdoor parking. Give this place a try

Yelp
I've been going here for years and use to get their popcorn chicken over rice but the last few times I've gotten it, the popcorn chicken were super large pieces and I don't think all the pieces were fully cooked. (Eek) Now my go to is the ground pork and mushroom dry noodles with thick noodles. Add some spicy to it and it's perfect! My husband really likes their red grain pork. The space is small but they do have a few tables outside, if it's full inside. The Staff are friendly and normally really quick to address anything you need. Recommend if you're looking for a decent Taiwanese meal in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
There is something very comforting and homey about eating at this place. Getting their lunch specials and eating their different types of appetizers is amazing. I love the variety and their tempura and popcorn chicken are very good options. I also really enjoy the side dishes that they have, including fermented vegetables and cooked vegetables. It always feels like a really well balanced meal. I actually believe that the Rosemead location tastes better especially for the specialty monja meat.

Yelp
I was not going to update my review, after one incident over the numerous years, but after the nonchalant response (on the phone) towards their food causing food poisoning... here I am. On Wednesday afternoon, I phoned in an order for A2 and they noted that the food would be ready within 15 minutes. By the time I stopped by, after 15 minutes, my food was not ready but I was okay with it because at least it had not been sitting there for minutes stewing in the to go box. For the summer heat, there was literally no A/C on in the restaurant and it was quite warm on the inside. A2 Monja Red Grain Pork Rice $13.00 After eating the food, later that night and the next day, my parent had not only vomited on Wednesday night to Thursday, but also encountered diarrhea. I had eaten everything else that my parent had eaten, EXCEPT for the Monja meal, so we knew it was attributed to the Red Grain Pork Rice. And... it was not just a little vomit, it was a whole lot of vomit, diarrhea, and stomachache. We called them today to let them know, as a friend had suggested to let Monja know, as it is a practice to do so in Taiwan, but the person who picked up the phone, Calvin, was very nonchalant. Did not care to take our name or phone number, and said that he would mention it to their manager. Even though we had requested to speak to their manager upfront, Calvin said that their manager is rarely there. Other than that, it is one of the fewer places that offer Red Grain Pork Rice, Taiwanese-style, so we are sad to have this happen... and the lackluster response. We may stay away for awhile just in case.

Yelp
I've got to say, the service and quality of food has dropped down here. I agree with a fellow Yelper - it's starting to feel like street food quality and portion with restaurant price tag. We came in on a weekday and opted to sit outside. We have 2 little ones with us and 1 needed high chair, but we were told that high chair was only available if we were to sit inside the restaurant. weird but okay. we decided to sit outside anyways because it was nice out! We ordered the lunch special of the red grain pork with dry noodles. It came in separate little paper plates and bowls. One for the pork, the noodles, and the pickles. The lunch combo came with either green tea or black tea. I opted for the black tea. BUT everything was served in paper plates and paper cups. I don't add bean sprouts to my dry noodles, and the taste of the noodles were okay, it was more saltier than I remembered. The pork was cooked and presented nicely on the smaller paper plates. The pickles were different than the ones I remembered. I think it was bigger napa cabbage in a different sauce, not an actual pickle so that part was different than what I remembered. Just a side note - my toddler and I had to use the bathroom facility inside. There is a sign that there's no public restrooms. When we were in there, we noticed that they did have 2 plastic high chair stacked INSIDE the bathroom x.x

Yelp
Authentic Taiwanese tomato beef noodle soup! Small portion but priced at $12.50 anyway. Most places with larger bowl cost $18+ . Jumbo sized shave ice is eye opening! Ingredients are delicious! Greta service and clean inside. Will come back again!
google avatar

Pete S.

Yelp
I have to say, in the time we dined inside there were probably five to go orders. I can see why people choose to get food here, it spells comfort food in the most basic way. After reading reviews, getting the bento box that includes the drink is the best way to go to enjoy a little bit of everything. We basically ordered with the four of us 3 bento and one appetizer dish. The black tea / green tea was refreshing The popcorn chicken is tasty, tho I wished it had more basil The minced pork (lu rou) is delish The side stew cabbage with hint of dry shrimp tasted exactly what I remembered from my Taiwan days. It's so good! I really love how they and spice their food here. Just crispy enough and not super salty. Their famous pork is delish, but I wouldn't say it's the best thing here. My noodles was hot and fresh, I'd get it again. Left full and satisfied. This place looks like it's runned by an auntie and her son. Lots of parking including underground. There's a half and half tea house same plaza as well as a JJ bakery. Think I'll be back one day and just get everything Togo! I'll be back
google avatar

Jessie Q.

Yelp
I used to like this place because they had a good lunch menu and a decent afternoon tea set menu... After Covid, their food portions have reduced and the prices have gone up but the quality was still okay. So I would still occasionally frequent the place... But I went a few days ago and was gravely disappointed... There were two servers chatting as there was just one other person in the restaurant at 7pm, clearly not a busy night... got my orders in and the food came pretty quick but the bowls were paper and the food was truly depressing... I ordered a porridge and Si Shen tang and they both consisted of mostly water. The porridge is the worst of any place I have ever had! I've attached a photo because there was actually no substance! The two dishes that would have been enough to feed two of me was just liquids and I was still hungry... And the Porridge was overly salty despite the lack of content... It used to be one of my go to places but this is probably the last time I'll ever eat here again...

Yelp
Oh Monja. The glorious Monja red grain pork is no more. What used to be a beautifully tender piece of pork has now been relegated to a very unenthusiastically dry slice of meat. The pork just doesn't have the same flavor it once held. My sister and I shared the Monja Red Grain Pork Rice Plate ($13). It comes with plenty of pork, rice heaped with minced meat and some pickled veggies. It's a good value for the amount of meat you get. The spicy wontons ($9.50) were a little unexpected. The wontons themselves were a little lacking in flavor, but very meaty nonetheless. They sat on a giant bed of sprouts and rather than being tossed in chili oil, little dollops of chili crisp were spooned on top of the wontons. The spicy was definitely lacking. This is not my preferred way of eating spicy wontons. We also shared an order of the Taiwanese sausage ($8.25). The sausage is accompanied by raw garlic. While I do love a Taiwanese sausage, the one here was a little off putting because it had a grayish tint which is unlike anything I've ever eaten before. In all honesty, it looked rather unappetizing. I love Monja for their Taiwanese fare, but this wasn't what I was looking for.

Yelp
I have to come here at least once every time I'm down in SoCal!! The Red Grain Pork is very unique and something I can't find elsewhere. The outer layer is crispy, and the pork is soft, savory, and sweet. The service was great! I always call ahead and the food is ready within 10-20 mins. There are seats inside and outside. The inside is a little cramped though. There are a lot of parking spaces in the plaza.
google avatar

Liliana C.

Yelp
My siblings and I were craving Taiwanese food so we decided to come here. Inside is pretty small but they also have seatings outside. Service was good, especially from the lady there who was super sweet and friendly! I got their popcorn chicken, it was really yummy! Good crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. I also got their boba milk tea which was less than $5 but it wasn't my favorite. You get what you pay for. Most likely made out of powder and the boba was bland and too soft. I would also suggest to stay away from ordering the yam fries. It was very underwhelming and soggy, not worth $8! I would def be back to try their entrees though!

Yelp
Yummy AND affordable I had such a great meal here and my (boyfriend's) wallet didn't cry. I got the stewed chicken leg rice plate and it came with chicken, minced pork, preserved veggies, a piece of Korean yellow radish, rice, and stewed cabbage. There were so many flavors and I got a good intake of vegetables which is very important. I came with a party of 5 and they were very accommodating of us. The servers were also near us the whole time so seeking help was so fast and easy. The restaurant was kinda small but it had a good amount of seats. I also got the grass jelly with boba, pudding, and rainbow mochi. It was more of a jam consistency but I liked it a lot! I would so come here again.

Yelp
Omg. This red pork is something I dream of. This meal has everything you need! It fills your tummy and your heart. Their red pork is very flavorful, soft inside, and crispy outside. I like their seasoned, steamed cabbage and the grain pork on top of the rice as well. It' a small place which can seat about 8~10 tables. It seems like a family-owned restaurant.

Alexis P.

Yelp
The people in this establishment were extremely rude! The younger gentleman with glasses and a hat took my order and give me so much attitude like if he didn't want me in his restaurant. I came in with a handicapped scooter. Don't recommend this spot!

Yelp
Very unique and have never had before. Tried the monja red pork and char siu but honestly char siu was better. Also got it with some congee which was good but overtime not as great. Amazing value tho with some amazingly cheap specials

Yelp
Hidden among other star places in this plaza, Monka is no slouch in it's own! A great little Taiwanese place with a great variety of dishes. My choice of dish today was the Monja Red Grain Pork Noodle Soup w/ thick noodles. -The Soup was flavorful, yet not too rich or overpowering. -The grain pork was delicious as a topping along with the other veggies. -Most notably, the crispy yet somehow very juicy red pork on the side. -The noodle itself was honestly kind of just alright, but a great pairing with everything else. Overall, I was really impressed with the pork, since there was a lot of similarities with Taiwanese popcorn chicken as well with the crispiness & juiciness. I'm excited to come back sometime to try the other dishes!

Yelp
This is an authentic Taiwanese restaurant. The food is delicious, especially the popcorn chicken. Service is excellent - they even helped me bring my to go order to my car all the way across the parking lot. The place is a little cozy but overall, it offers a good low-key dining experience.

Yelp
Wow beat my expectations for sure! I read the most recent reviews for this place and almost suggested to go somewhere else to catch up with a friend. The reviews kept saying how horrible service and the food were. I fortunately didn't have that experience. Came here on a Saturday night at around 6:40pm. This plaza is so popular now! It used to always be pretty empty but it was almost all full this time. Lots of restaurants and dessert places have now opened which is nice to see. There were only about 2 or 3 parties when we got here. Opted to sit outside and ordered the red grain pork rice. The food came out surprisingly quickly. It wasn't piping hot so probably not freshly cooked, but it was a warm summer night anyway so I didn't mind. The pork was nicely crisp and tender! Not super flavored with bbq flavor despite the redness, but it was good for a light meal. I wasn't planning on finishing the meal because I had a big lunch earlier, but before I knew it everything was gone! I was too busy catching up to really notice the service. She came by once to refill our waters, but largely left us alone until she brought the check much later. There also weren't many tables outside. Solid choice for dinner!

Yelp
I've been to Monja Taiker many times and they provide authentic and delicious Taiwanese food. I always like to order their lunch combo but ONLY available on weekdays (popcorn chicken, fried pork chop and red grain pork), they were flavorful and the meat quality was good. The lunch combo also comes with a drink (green tea or red tea). The portion was big and price was reasonable. If you are looking for delicious Taiwanese food in City of Industry, I would highly recommend this place. btw, they also have other location in Rosemead.

Yelp
$9 for few pieces chicken roll. Totally not worth it. It's like $2 for a tiny piece and didn't even taste that good. So other foods are ok and when I mentioned to the waiter they pretty much didn't care. Oh well.. I'm not coming back.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Saturday and so happy that we did! It's in the same plaza as jazz cat hot pot, JJ's cafe, and several other restaurants on gale Ave (four seasons plaza). The restaurant is quite small but they have a big menu- lots options of tawiwanse dishes and some drinks. It's also not the most fancy restaurant and the tables were a bit sticky lol, but the service was descent and the food was great (speaking from a Taiwanese girl here). We got the red grain pork (what they are most known for), chicken rolls, and pork chop rice. Each rice plate came with minced pork rice, cabbages, and pickled radish. The sides were tasty (loved that the minced pork was lean and that everything was not overly oily or salty) and all of the meat (ie. the red grain pork, pork chop, and chicken rolls) was crispy and well seasoned. *For anyone who's not had red grain pork before, it's a Taiwanese speciality dish that is similar to chashu but not the same, so make sure to set your expectation accordingly. Also, The chicken rolls are thin bean curd skin wrap with shredded chicken and cabbages. This will be my new favorite taiwanese food takeout spot!

Yelp
Came here for a free lunch Friday. Work pays for my lunch so today I chose Monja. I'm definitely satisfied and pleased. Service was meh. Not bad but not good either. But that's ok. Back to the food: portions are good and quality meets freshness. I came in to try that battered/fried pork. It was sooooo good. The noodles were on point too! Plenty of parking and there's plenty to choose from on the menu. I'm definitely coming back. I have to bring friends so they can try this stuff. Thanks for the good food. Keep it up.

Yelp
Their food is consistently good here. The monja red grain pork lunch combo is so good, I like that it comes with a drink and how the rice is topped with minced pork. Their rice is also so soft (my favorite type of rice). I think this is a must try if you come here. Other things I have tried: Spicy wontons (抄手): good flavor, they are huge! I like that their is minced garlic with the sauce. Beansprouts are hiding under the wontons Pork chop with rice: solid pork chop! Popcorn chicken: big pieces, they don't skimp! And theres a lot of meat to breading ratio, you get the best bang for your buck. Monja red grain pork with noodles: same thing but with noodles, but they give so much beansprouts with the portion (i don't like beansprouts) I always order takeout and they're super fast making the orders! Their drinks are also pretty good, the normal green tea is solid.

Yelp
A great place to get Taiwanese food for cheap. Disclaimer: I got this all to-go but ate it right away so it was all still fresh! Monja Red Grain Pork Rice: I ordered their iconic dish of red grain pork rice because I have this self-made rule where I have to try the most popular item on the menu. The marinated pork with red grain has a sweet, slightly crispy outer layer and pairs nicely with the rice. I'm happy I tried it but I don't think it's something I'll order again because the meat was a little dry for my liking. Personal preference though. Pork Chop Rice: This dish on the other hand was absolutely delicious. It basically had the coating of popcorn chicken but in a different form. I could eat endless amounts of this no problem. Fried Sparerib Noodle Soup: Had to try out a noodle dish of course and this one had bouncy, chewy noodles which I loved. The soup itself wasn't the main star but it was a filling dish for sure. I'd love to come here during their lunch specials and try out more Taiwanese food since their prices are affordable for the quality.

Yelp
If you haven't had Taiwanese style roast pork, this is your sign to go go go! The monja style pork was so tender was having a similar profile to char siu, maybe a little sweeter but the texture was so velvety Pair that with some fried rice and cabbage and you have a wonderful bowl full of umami and happiness I grabbed a to go bowl, but I'll be back for the in store experience

Yelp
Still 5 stars even after all these years :') $38 for 3 items. Brought my fiance here and he super loved it. We both sat in absolute joy with a bowl of noodles and their pickled cabbage. Dry noodle with red grain pork (thick noodles) $10.50?? The sauce tastes better with the thick noodles. They have some chew, but not overly so. This dish comes with a bed of steamed bean sprouts and plenty of cilantro to cut any richness from this dish. Must get. Hot and spicy noodles $9? Bae got the thin noodles, overall as a dish this is ok to me, it's not bad - but the dry noodle that COMES WITH PORK is just stellar. It's kind of a one note dish, but I've just had more flavorful cumin-y noodles elsewhere. Pickled cabbage Wow this is the first time I got this dish and def not the last. This honestly might be my fav, but it's very close with the dry noodle. The cold pickled cabbage with the slight funk of fermented bean curd, with cilantro errwhere is great. So happy I got this dish. It helped to elevate the hot and spicy noodles. Service was kinda eh, but they were super busy so that's ok.

Yelp
Ordered the monja red grain pork rice 8.5/10 The pork was tender, not dry, and well seasoned. I enjoyed the side of veggies and rice with minced pork. The star of the plate though was definitely the red grain pork. The service was okay and the interior was clean. I would return for the red grain pork!
