I’m very picky about coffee and I can say their latte is super good! Spam n egg also really yummy!

There's few independently owned bubble tea places like this; all the drink specials are thoughtful and unique. Will have to be back for the rest of the food menu but I'll enjoy my puff pastries and boba in the meantime ☺️

Just had the most amazing time at 𝕄𝕠𝕟𝕜𝕖𝕪 𝕂𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕋𝕖𝕒 in Malden with Riannie! 🫖❤️ This cozy spot not only serves up delicious bubble tea and ice cream, but they also have game boards and books for the ultimate chill vibe. 🃏📚 The mural on the wall is an absolute must-see, and don't forget to say hi to the incredible owner, Christina "Teeny"! She's a talented artist, barista, and pastry chef all rolled into one! 🎨☕️ Here’s what we savored: 1️⃣ Signature Pineapple Bun: This gem tastes just like the classic HK style! 🍍🥐 2️⃣ Over The Moon: A dreamy concoction of blue raspberry, dragon fruit, and lychee tea lemonade. 🌌💙 3️⃣ M3: A trio of goodness with tapioca boba, herbal jelly, and custard pudding. Perfectly paired with your choice of milk tea! 🍵🤤 4️⃣ Strawberry Festival: Egg puff waffle topped with strawberry and vanilla ice cream, drizzled with homemade whipped cream, diced strawberries, and strawberry Pocky! 🍓🍦🍩 If you're in the Malden area, you HAVE to check this place out. Trust me, you won't regret it! 💫

Google
I love this place - food and drinks are both excellent. I usually get the spam and egg thing and/or a puffle sundae. Tried the volcano chicken and it was great. The one negative is that service is really, really slow. Probably would recommend ordering ahead unless you have extra time.

Amy

Google
Love this place! The drinks are not too sweet and the boba is soft and chewy. The spicy crab Rangoon is my favorite!!! If you're looking for boba in the area, stop by and support a local family owned business 😊

Google
Easy online ordering. Easy street parking right across from the cafe. Simple in and out to pick up my drinks. Mango and Lychee teas were super tasty and refreshing, the tapioca balls and jelly was fresh and high quality and the price was pretty reasonable (in my opinion anyway) for a quick ten minute drive and how popular they are now. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back for more and to try other stuff on the menu.

Google
We went there for boba tea after looking at the reviews. Little disappointed with the small menu, however we picked out favourite Thai milk tea. Disappointed with it as it was superbly watered down, that too, after asking for less ice in the milk tea.

Google
Bubble tea was good. The Hong Kong style egg waffle with ice cream and other sweet goodies was not bad. Very generous portion of ice cream. It would have been perfect if the wake is a little crispier on the outside, but nonetheless I enjoyed it a lot. Good service. Cozy place.

Jenny T.

Yelp
Food: Got the hot HK milk tea (less sugar, oat milk) and it was good, as I wasn't feeling well and really in the mood for a hot tea latte. Really warm, perfect temperature for Boston's fall weather. Service: The barista/cashier were both nice! It was the barista's first time making a hot drink and it was cute to see him being trained. Bathroom: A bit small, but clean and nice to have one for customer use.

Benjamin Z.

Yelp
Great HK style egg waffle and ice cream, 10/10. We tried many Asian style sweets in Boston, and this place is our favorite

Yelp
Three months ago, I dropped by this place for a quick bite and got the pineapple bun with custard cream, Korean corn dog and a large iced honey lemon tea. The pineapple bun with custard was a bit stale. Otherwise, the taste was there. The corn dog was a deep fried hot dog with mozzarella cheese. It was sweet on the outside and salty on the inside. It was good. The iced honey lemon tea was a disappointment. I could hardly taste the honey or lemon in it. The drink just tasted like water.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. It has so many amazing offerings. When I lived nearby I would get boba frequently with my friend, who had lived in Medford longer and had told me about it. Have enjoyed every flavor I've tried. Over the past few years they've expanded the menu to include awesome ice cream, and now mochi donuts. They also have indulgent snacks. The sundae creations have always looked really cool, so I finally tried one. It had matcha ice cream (the best I've had in a while!) pocky chocolate covered biscuit sticks, mochi (which I've missed as a topping), and a bubble waffle! My bf got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch mochi donut. Great spot, highly recommend!

Rifah C.

Yelp
Monkey King Tea is such a cute little boba place - my favorite thing to actually get is their cream stuffed churros with Nutella drizzle! The servers and cashiers are always so sweet as well. Will be coming back.

Savannah H.

Yelp
Insanely good if you ever want a little treat. At this point I've had it all and the salmon onigiri is my fav my favorite spot for ice cream too!! The puffs are delish

Kelly Z.

Yelp
Money see, Monkey eat! They have a diverse menu and everyone's favorite Asian snack! Their quality and flavors have been consistent for all these years which is amazing! My favorites are their mera mera fries and crab Rangoon which are the perfect savory snack! The salmon onigirizu is smoked salmon, rice, and spicy Mayo. It was super yummy but I really wished I had more! Definitely a fun spot to go for a drink, a snack, or dessert! Support local family businesses!

Daryl P.

Yelp
Stopping in for some Hong Kong style ice cream with a warm and freshly made waffle cone. Opted for green tea ice cream for my dessert that had the usual pocky sticks, mocha and strawberry that continue to compliment it all well. The green tea was flavorful and genuine which sometimes can be a hit or miss. The store is small and mask continue to be required and with seating be closed for now, you'll have to enjoy your cold dessert outside or in your car. The area seems easy to get to and parking wasn't that hard to park which I can't say that about many areas of Boston.

Yelp
I recommend this place making ordering easier for customers by using pictures more than text -- most of the text on display render useless. I walked in and showed pictures from Yelp to order. Just thought this tip would help others ordering.

Luciana S.

Yelp
This local shop is a vibe! If you're looking for snacks, bubble tea and/or ice cream - you have to stop by! There's ample street parking and the shop is the bottom floor of a navy blue house. I got a bunch of items to try and I can tell you there were all delicious! I'd recommend the crab rangoon, the scallion pancakes, the churros, and the spicy salmon onigirazu for snacks! I'd recommend the mango tea and the milk tea also! You can order ahead at this location if you don't feel like waiting but there is limited bench seating if you just want to pop in and order something. Absolutely would return!

G P.

Yelp
When I first got there it's an empty place besides myself, I would say when I ordered two scoop of ice cream with the waffle, I assumed it'll be nice and fresh?! I only took a dinky piece of the waffle and it Turns out to be like a rock that you can't barely chew. The waffle is so hard that it gave me an upset stomach all day! First and last experience I've going to get ice cream or waffle's from MONKEY KING TEA! If, you be serving customer with a good business and would have them to come back at least make a fresh waffles and not having the waffle's sitting overnight or all day long?! It's bad Customers Service! I get it that people don't come there often it's because your business giving them a bad waffle's or bad Service! I recommend your Business is to make a fresh waffle's like other places so that your business doesn't ruined your reputation.

Kathryn G.

Yelp
I ordered the Golden Monk today and was very impressed! The flavor of the coffee is so delicious. The tapioca boba doesn't have much flavor (maybe it isn't supposed to?) but was a great texture. Next time I order this I'll try the popping boba. Really looking forward to testing out the milk teas as well! Seems like they have an awesome menu and they offer a lunch special with the tea and overload fries. Note - ORDER AHEAD! You can't order at the window. I ordered from my car when I got there and waited a little under 10 min.

Connie C.

Yelp
2 big scoops of homemade ice cream for $6. Black sesame and milk candy ice cream and Vietnamese coffee ice cream on bottom. Vietnamese coffee ice cream flavor was my favorite. The black sesame milk ice cream was not as potent, but very light in black sesame flavor, but very unique! The mix between the 2 was great! They have so many various homemade ice cream on their menu! I'm curious to try other flavors next time! Thinking of grabbing a pint next time! They also serve ice cream with an egg waffle with unique toppings. They also have great selection of food and bubble tea! During Covid, they're taking orders at a window there but suggest ordering online and do pick up. Worker was wearing masks and gloves when serving thru window.

Yelp
This place is absolutely fantastic! A must visit. Woman owned, and operated makes it even better. Have not tried the bubble tea yet, but it is on the agenda for my next visit. Stop by and check this establishment out... you will not be sorry.

Marni M.

Yelp
I have come to this place a handful of times since they opened up a few years ago. Their fruit teas are good however the milk tea was subpar. I enjoy the texture of their boba and the typical toppings offered. What brings me back is there food options offered including the puffed waffle cones. More recently, I tried their corn dogs which were pretty good. The batter wasn't as thick as I was hoping but the sugar coating was a special touch with the spicy Mayo on the side you can request for. Looking forward to trying more from their menu.

Yelp
This is my favorite boba tea shop in the Boston area and I have been here probably 20 times over the last few years. It's a bit out of the way for me. They have fresh brewed tea and good snacks. I highly recommend the octopus balls and the crab rangoon. Usually parking out on the street out front is not a problem. They recently reconfigured the interior to focus more on takeout instead of eating in, I guess due to COVID.

Winni C.

Yelp
The drinks here have always been just OK or disappointing but the food have always been surprisingly good. Drinks: - Royal Sunset - really pretty but very disappointed bc this tasted like straight up honey citron from the jars. Not worth the money at all when you can buy a huge jar for the same price and make many cups at home - Earl grey milk tea - this had a decent tea flavor but was also bland and watered down at the same time Snacks: - Ice cream egg puff waffle - haven't had this in a while but I recall it being pretty good - Firecracker shrimp onigirazu - straight up bomb and surprisingly very filling - Smoked salmon avocado onigirazu - another delicious filling snack! TLDR: pass on the drinks, come for the snacks and dessert

Yelp
I'm new to the Asian dessert scene in Malden, but I'm so glad I was able to stop by and try Monkey King Tea. It's located ~12 minutes away from the Malden Center T stop, and it's a pretty straightforward walk to get to the shop. I arrived 15 minutes before closing and I wasn't sure if Monkey King Tea was still open because it has a very unassuming exterior. It looks like a person's home with a sign plopped on top. It turns out that Monkey King Tea is just taking social distancing and sanitation very, very seriously (more seriously than any restaurant or store in the Boston area that's open, in my experience). You have to order and pay online, wait around for ~10 minutes, and then ring a doorbell. Someone will then open a small window near the front door and hand you your order. I ordered the Rainbow Road and Chocolate Overload. I absolutely LOVE fruity pebbles ice cream so I was happy this was an option. Overall, the ice cream and puffle were great; I think the portions were reasonable for $10. I'm only a little bummed that there's no outdoor seating anywhere near the store. I decided to take a 45 minute walk home, and that meant standing and eating the entire time. I understand that this is likely out of the store's control based on its location, but unless you're driving and live nearby, then ordering ice cream and eating it soon after is a bit inconvenient for the time being.

William T.

Yelp
I usually don't give 5 stars but the staff was polite and welcoming, I thought they deserved it. It is also a great location right outside my neighborhood for a quick savory snack or a sweet desert. My party enjoyed their bubble tea with no complaints and I didn't think it was that bad and I'm not even much of a boba fan. I will definitely be going back for the takoyaki and churro.

Jamie B.

Yelp
Good news, Malden folks - this place has finally opened back up (after a few months of being closed for renovations), and it is a perfect spot for an ice cream pick-me-up during COVID times (and beyond!). As of November 2020, their indoor area is currently closed due to COVID, but they have a takeout window for minimal-contact ordering. The cashiers serve you from a very elevated window which makes it a littttle difficult to get your order, BUT on the plus side it felt very safe and socially distanced, so I'll take it! The fun, themed ice cream concoctions (along with fresh puffle cones!) were what made me want to visit this place, and they did not disappoint. I got the Rainbow Road, which was fruity pebbles ice cream topped with strawberries, fruity pebbles, and strawberry pocky... all in a warm, fresh puffle cone. I had actually never had a puffle cone before (gasp!), and it was so so good! The puffle dots weren't filled with anything (I thought they might be filled with custard...), but still it was delicious. My husband got a dish of chocolate ice cream, which sounded simple, but he said it was actually pretty top-notch as far as chocolate ice creams go. Don't let the outside of this establishment fool you, this place is definitely worth a stop if you're looking to get a tasty, creative treat without having to ever set foot inside a building. Can't wait to work my way through the rest of their menu!

Yelp
Found this on #bostoneats IG - Oooh love the boba N ice cream - got the cookies N cream N matcha ice cream

Rocky W.

Yelp
This place beats all the Asian dessert places in Chinatown! The desserts were very original (because they're not a chain) and at reasonable prices. We got the Strawberry Festival (vanilla ice cream, strawberries, chocolate, whip cream, and pocky) and the Churro Puffle (vanilla ice cream, cream filled churros, homemade whip cream, and finally topped with NUTELLA). The Churro Puffle was my favorite. The Nutella on top of everything was AWESOME! The Churros were freshly made, soft, and puffy. Just the combo of the ice cream, churros, Nutella, and Hong Kong style puffle cone waffle was out of this world! On top of that the desserts came out beautifully and made for some great pictures Environment - They have a very Asian vibe with decorations of One-Punch Man, Totoro, and wooden tables. However, they were blasting rap and hip-hop, which I enjoy, but it seemed out of place. The place is small with only like 6 or so tables. We had to wait like 10 minutes for a table to free up. Overall, it's nice to go to an Asian dessert place that's not a franchise and that has original desserts. I'll definitely be back again!

Yelp
Puffle cones have been on my list of things to try for a couple of years now. Being a yelper, I'm a little bit ashamed that this gem has been RIGHT DOWN THE STREET from me for 3 years and I didn't know. We finally stopped in today and WOW. I got the churro puffle cone which was one of the most decadent things i've ever enjoyed. It was a waffle, vanilla ice cream, and FOUR INSANELY DELICIOUS CHURROS, all topped with homemade whipped cream and nutella. Oh my god, a party in my mouth to say the least. My boyfriend got the matcha puffle cone which was also fantastic, and topped with asian favorites such as pocky and mochi. I can't wait to come back and try their snacks, bubble tea, and coffee drinks. What a hidden gem. Edit- Went again for bubble tea and it was soooo gooooood. I recommend the london fog which is earl grey milk tea :)

Alexandra M.

Yelp
I got the chocolate overload and have to say that it was an overload in all the best ways. Can't wait to get it again. I also got the black bubble tea and it was the first time I thought bubble tea was not really sweet (and I normally get low sugar). Surprising and now I have a new way to always want it.

Bob L.

Yelp
The outdoor signs really don't do this place justice (it's easy to miss if you're not specifically looking for it!). This is the PERFECT place to stop by on a hot day (as was such when I went). The indoor seating is quite limited (a few tables and a couch to sit on). There's a bathroom here that has a surprisingly small door (I'm 5'9" and I had to duck to avoid smacking my head in there). This place has a food menu but we were here for some ice cream so I can't comment on the hot foods available here (though they did look good). I got the strawberry egg waffle which had strawberry pocky sticks, chocolate syrup drizzled over vanilla ice cream. The combination was quite delicious as the egg waffle was nice and crispy but not too sweet to overwhelm the ice cream. The whole experience was quite refreshing! Do note that there is a $5 minimum (If I recall) to use a credit card though with the egg waffle ice cream starting at $7.25 it shouldn't be a problem! Give this place a try if you're in the area! There was ample street parking nearby when I went (Sunday afternoon).

Yelp
Of all the cafes we could've gone on our 4-day weekend getaway to Boston, my boyfriend and I decided to come here twice in a row because we loved it that much! The first time we went here, we each got an "I Luv U So Matcha" puffle cone and we're really glad we did. Between the perfect amount of sweetness of the puffle cone and combination of its soft and crunchy textures and all the toppings of the green tea ice cream (red bean mochi, chocolate pocky, strawberries), it really hit the spot and my sweet tooth. The second time, I ordered the black sesame shake with tapioca boba and pudding which was beyond amazing and brought my taste buds back to a delicious bubble tea shop in Arizona that I often frequented when I visited family there called Yo & I (now closed). It's a very small but cozy café to catch up with friends and play games that they have on their shelves (Jenga, Uno, etc.), and the staff/management makes you feel right at home. Christina was especially pleasant to meet and talk to. She even went out of her way to send me a detailed list of places in Boston that she thought we'd enjoy during our stay. I wish they could just move their entire shop to New Jersey so I can be a regular! I'd give Monkey King Tea a 10-star rating if I could. Thank you for the great experience!

Cindy L.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check this place out the last few months. This time, I finally went and it was worth it. We drove out of our way in the snow storm to come check this place out. I got the "I Love you Matcha" which was green tea, lavender boba, wrapped with egg puffs and drizzled with hot chocolate. I was so happy to finally check it out. Good or bad weather, I didn't let that stop me. You wouldn't really know this is an ice cream place. It says tea on the outside of the building but once you're inside, you'll see in the menu that they offer quite a bit of selections for food. This place also sells boba teas and some light snacks and appetizers, definitely worth checking out.

Malica S.

Yelp
Monkey King Tea is having their soft opening still but I'm so happy they're finally back. Inside: It is A LOT more spacious. More tables = more seating area. They have a menu board above the cash register/area you order. They also have menus you can physically hold too. The walls are all monkeys to which I'm assuming someone drew them! How cute is that and so creative! They have different flavors of ice cream to choose from as well. Drinks: I ordered a mango tea and my boyfriend ordered their lychee tea drink. I really liked their mango tea because it wasn't too sweet and I could still taste the tea infused flavor. I also tried the lychee drink and that was also very good too. I can't wait to try their food and ice cream. I will definitely be coming here again. I'm just so so happy they're back because now that I live in Malden, I have another place to visit and go to when I need my boba tea fix! Price: For the two drinks I spent about $12. Parking: Street Parking

Linda T.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for a year but every time I head over with a group of friends, they were closed. At last, I finally visit like what felt a million years later. I end up getting the famous "I Luv You So Matcha," spam masubi, and a bubble tea drink to share. Honestly I don't remember how the drink tasted. The egg puff with ice cream was good but a bit pricey for non-premium ingredients. I should have asked without hot fudge but that's just personal preference. It can easily shared among 2-3 people. First time having Hawaiian Spam Masubi and was satisfied. There was only 2-3 people and only seem like one girl in the back making the eggpuffs and bringing it out to customers. Staff were friendly and helpful when we asked questions. Atmosphere is laid back. Small place of a townhouse that became a commercial business with a few tables and seats. It can easily get cramped in there, especially with a bunch of high school kids. Street parking. Would I come back? Only if I'm in the area and craving for semi-sweets.

Sharon C.

Yelp
I've been waiting for their re-opening and was not disappointed! ATMOSPHERE // there's limited space but definitely more than before. There's more tables which is nice. I loved the wall full of monkeys!! DRINKS // We ordered the pink dragon with mango popping bubbles, a coconut shake and passion fruit tea with lychee jelly. All the drinks were great!! It tasted as expected and they add a lot of ice so I'd ask for less ice.

Rebecca L.

Yelp
Perfect, hole-in-the-wall snack spot! Easy to miss this unassuming place, but hopefully you won't! They made great bubble tea and fresh Asian snacks. Like, there's an actual kitchen and the food wasn't just a bunch of frozen microwaved things! I had the dairy free taro slush with red bean-- red bean was perfect and good taro flavor, not overpowering. Was able to try the shrimp tempura onigiri which was a much larger portion than the usual with a tasty spicy sauce. Had the takoyaki, crab raggoons, and loaded fries. All excellent, well seasoned and good portions! Inside is small, no indoor dining. I suggest pre-ordering for food since it takes a bit. We pre-ordered and still waited a few minutes and ending up picking up the food at the pickup window. Friendly service!

Goku U.

Yelp
Malden is the best you can offer. We've been dying to try monkey king because of all the high reviews and we finally had the chance Tuesday night. We arrived right before closing at 8:45pm (they close at 9). I was surprised the employees didn't seemed annoyed at our last minute purchase. After asking about a couple of drinks we ordered the monkey king tea and the zen (Jasmine) milk tea with boba and aloe. I started noticing aloe at most places is soaked in syrup so it tastes overly sweet to me (it's the same here at monkey tea). The boba tasted old - maybe because we came late at night, the boba was just decomposing. But they were not soft and chewy. The tea - the Jasmine was delicious and would definitely order again but with no sugar instead of little sugar. You can definitely taste the delicate jasmine flavor. The monkey king was gross and had hints of caramel and chocolate. Overall, the drinks were ok, service was fantastic. Probably won't go out of our way to come to this boba place again but at least we know what it tastes like.

Christina N.

Yelp
I like the egg puffs, the ice cream and pokey sticks make it even better. Definitely an item to share though. Wished they had more games and put more work into the shop.

Donald S.

Yelp
Suddenly I'm young again. Monkey king tea brings me back to the younger days, college student hanging out at the campus cafe, playing board and card games late into the night. Had the Takoyaki, which was a great dish. My best description would be an octopus potato fritter. I know, doesn't sound appetizing, but trust me it works! Japanese snacks? You have yourself a winner. A unique concept at a very affordable price. Monkey King tea has made a fan out Of me. Please expand the menu!!

Le T.

Yelp
Drinks and desserts are okay at MKT. We tried the "I luv u so matcha" since all my friends raved about it. It's good but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it. The egg puffs can't be compared to the ones egg puff lady makes in Chinatown. Come on now, let's be real. Egg puffs here are dried and a bit burnt.. We also got their milk tea. Not the best milk tea to be honest. I mean give this place a try and see for yourself. You might like it, but it didn't do it for me. ;/

Julia F.

Yelp
This has been one of my favorite places I've tried in Malden. I have yet to find a drink or snack from here that wasn't tasty and delicious and delivered with a great simple yet unique and interesting plating. When I moved to Malden I was feeling pretty out of my element- in this scenario, my element is a bustling city area, where you can easily walk to restaurants or convenience stores that are open past 6, or 8pm, with good food options. I'm a sucker for a good cup of iced boba tea, in a variety of flavors and at Monkey King they have yet to disappoint!

Lucinda A.

Yelp
Love this place with a capital L. They make great finger food my favorite is the french fries with spicy mayo sauce. I had gotten the matcha ice cream and it was amazing. They always have great customer service as well if you haven't tried it I highly suggest you do. The environment is great as well cafe meets a mini board game style.

Alice S.

Yelp
I used to like this place when I first came last summer. However as I keep coming back for late night boba I am becoming more and more disappointed. I tried an earl grey milk tea with boba about a month ago, and it was bland and watered down. Last Friday (2 days ago) I came again and had the Thai tea with boba. Flavor was decent but the boba became hard after an hour. Also, both my fiance and I smelled something rotten or weird all throughout the hour we spent sitting there. There were strawberry pieces on the floor, no attempt to cleanup? Also never have I seen the TV on once in all the handful of times I've visited. I do have a fond memory of their waffle ice cream desserts. Just save your stomach before eating! So overall I can only give 3 stars. Please up the level of service and boba quality.

Rae S.

Yelp
Overpriced diluted bubble tea. Tasteless egg puffs. I'm not sure how/why this place has such great reviews. Also definitely looks like a hole in the wall compared to other bubble tea places around like kungfu tea, up tea and gongcha. Not coming back.

Christophe R.

Yelp
Ordered corn dog, fries and bubble tea. Overall quality is good and staff is friendly. The space is a small and having an in door option would have been good. Also some items seem removed from the menu. For instance I could not get the chicken puffle

Michelle H.

Yelp
Maybe it's because i'm out of town, but this was located on the most random block ever. I'm pretty sure they converted a house into a bubble tea shop, but hey, it was good! They have a pretty good selection of bubble tea and dessert, including ice cream. I wish I wasn't so full because I would have loved to try their dessert, but I settled with a bubble tea. Minimal seating and the tables were pretty dirty...bring a wipe and expect to clean your own table or take your food to go. They are pretty slow with making things, even a simple bubble tea, but my bubble tea was pretty decent and he enjoyed his dessert. We got our fix and I wouldn't mind coming back again, but please, clean those tables!

Caroline S.

Yelp
I've been craving egg waffles for the longest time and I'm glad there was a place to get it in Malden! I ordered the Cookies and Cream Puffle cone which comes with cookies and cream ice cream, chocolate Pocky sticks, an Oreo, whipped cream, and of course the egg waffles. I tend to like my egg waffles a little more fluffier (crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside) and these were a bit doughier. However, because I was eating it with the ice cream, I didn't mind it as much. Overall, not a bad dessert but would prefer a lighter egg waffle. I also ordered their hot oolong milk tea. I really liked it! It had a lot of tea flavor that a lot of places miss out on. I'd probably stop by here again!

Susan M.

Yelp
Small boba tea and dessert place. There's about 6 small tables. Avoid sitting underneath the AC because it drips water onto the seats. My Luv You So Matcha Egg Waffle Ice Cream was decent. Red bean stuffed mochi was good. The egg waffle has a good crunch to it. Friend enjoyed his Egg waffle with strawberries and vanilla ice cream.

Nhung N.

Yelp
Went here for the first time on National Dessert Day. The service was polite and prompt. Overall I was happy with the food and drink. I must say, the cafe atmosphere and setting is more for teens. There is a couch and coffee table at the back of the cafe, and several two chair table seating lined the wall as you walk in. Register would be to your left as you come in. There are bookcases, a deck of card, and checkers chess set. Definitely for a youthful crowd. We ordered the musubi, which was egg, spam and rice wrapped in nori. This was much bigger and tasted much better than I expected. My husband said it was not salty enough for him but I find it perfect since I like salty food. We also tried the I Luv Matcha egg puff waffle which came standard with a scoop of green tea ice-cream drizzled in chocolate syrup, a cut-up red bean mochi, and two pocky sticks. My son loved the egg puff waffle. That was my favorite part. We also ordered the spicy rangoon which was good and definitely not spicy at all. As for drinks, we had the Monkey King milk tea with grass jelly. While the tea was fine, the grass jelly were huge and had a bad aftertaste. I should have stuck with bobas as "topping" when asked. I thought it was funny to call these toppings since they sink to the bottom of the drink. :/ The meal came out to a little over $25.if you pay with a card, you will be asked if you want to tip on the screen. This was a bit strange for me since I've never been to a cafe that asked for tip when you're ordering drinks to go. It was an awkward moment but I decided to tip in the end. It was only an addition $3.00. :/ The milk teas and smoothies were rather on the expensive side. $4 - $5 per drink for a regular sized cup. "Toppings" such as bobas, grass jelly, etc are extra? I am sorry to say that these drinks carried Starbucks price tags but did not have the same satisfaction of drinking a Starbuck coffee. I mean, I would definitely come back for the egg waffles with ice cream which seems to be their best seller, which they only have Friday and the weekend.

Yelp
Food: (4 Stars) Taro Egg Puffs Came out nice and warm in a paper bag. When I opened the bag, a nice steamy sweet scent of browned egg puff wafted up. I could wait to get my hands into the bag and rip off a chunk of the egg puff to try. It wasn't too hot so I was able to handle a few puffs out. The egg puff was soft in center but you can plainly tasted the subtle taro flavor mixed in with the regular egg puff flavor. It wasn't too sweet which is always a plus in my book since some places go over board with sugar. Drink: (4 Stars) Dark Twister Sesame and Taro milk tea...delicious combo and was definitely a new experience for me since I've never had the two together. The flavors definitely went very well together and was very refreshing. I like the frappe style since it was perfect on the hot day I visited. Could use a bit more sesame powder though, that was the only thing lacking.

Yelp
Monkey King attracts a lot of younger kids (i.e. high school) to grab desserts and hang out. Although the cafe was busy, there were still plenty of street parking right out front on a weekday night before closing. We ordered the "I Luv You So Matcha" with green tea ice cream, mochi, and fresh strawberry topped with chocolate drizzle wrapped in egg puff. Surprisingly, my favorite part of this dessert was the puffle - it was soft, doughy, and had a slight crunch around the edges. The matcha ice cream was a little too thick, making it difficult to scoop bites with a spoon. The mochi was not chewy but very tough, almost like it was frozen right before it was served. With so many other puffle dessert places popping up in Chinatown, I probably won't be returning to Malden for this treat.

Yelp
Well this place was an excellent surprise! A friend had recommended it to us, and we decided to take a chance when we are driving in the area when we can. Very small, but has a cool lounge hipster like vibe. I ordered a Thai tea with Boba. He got some yummy coconut type of thing with Boba. We are Boba freaks. Love them. Also got some crab Rangoon. They were out of the spicy version, so we got the regular. Probably the best we've ever had. Yes, really. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
It looks so good now after the renovations! It's great that they have soy and almond milk for non dairy options and their snacks are tasty. The only thing was I think boba was undercooked and definitely needed more of that honey boba flavor because it didn't have much taste. Also the tea could be stronger but that's true of most places around here. Love a family run business and wish them much success' Update: went again and the boba was so good!! Texture and sweetness on point!

Yelp
They recently reopened and soft openings are happening. However... I just had the worst Thai tea ever from this place. Not sure if they were just off, but it was so water down and taste less, I literally threw it away after 2 sips. It was like drinking cold water with Boba, which were not even sweetened. Super disappointing. If they can't even make Thai tea, I'm concerned. Next time, I'll just go to Kung fu tea
