Google
I love their croissant sandwich and coffee. (I order it quite often) The employees are super friendly and sweet as well! I'm not sure which barista drew this on my cup, but they are for sure the coolest person working there. It was so cute it made my day; I had to write a review. They somehow magically guessed I love this alien cat thing

Google
Nice place, tasty coffee with a nice variety of choices, and lots of seating. Only issue is parking..it gets a bit hard to find a spot sometimes. Staff is very nice and polite.

Google
Cute, delicious pastries, good quick above average coffee shop style food, spacious, conveniently located with ample parking. Love the name!!!

Google
I'm giving this coffee shop and Cafe mixed reviews. The honey luv oatmilk iced latte (honey, cinnamon, ginger) was delicious. The espresso was rich. My Monkey Nest Special sandwich was tasty (grilled bread, honey mustard chicken salad with capers, tomatoes, cranberries, and red onion). Not the best I've ever had, but it's quite good. The mixed part of my review is that the staff was not very friendly and kind of ignored me for some time before I could order. I was the only person at the register! They didn't even acknowledge me! Another negative is that the cafe was a bit dirty in spots; the cleanliness could have been improved. Not so much so that I walked out, but, it made me question my choice a bit. The atmosphere inside is nice with a lot of seating, tables, and places to plug in, read a book, or work. The outdoor patio was not clean or attractive, and they are on a busy road, so it's very loud. Would I go again if I lived here, maybe.

Google
Monkey Nest Coffee offers a solid coffee experience. We tried the Maha Latte, which was excellent - rich, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The café has its own distinct atmosphere, and it’s clear that many people use it as a workspace. The setup is well-suited for that, with comfortable seating, quiet background music, and a variety of different areas to settle in. Despite the relatively standard layout of the space, they’ve done a great job dividing it into different zones - there are cozy couches, tables, and even a separate enclosed room where a training session was taking place during our visit. This adds to the versatility of the space, making it welcoming for both casual customers and those needing a spot to focus. The one downside for me was the counter and ordering setup, which felt very much like something from a large coffee chain. The display case is filled with pre-made sandwiches wrapped in paper and foil, along with plastic containers of pre-assembled meals. While practical, it takes away from the charm and personality that makes independent coffee shops special. This kind of setup feels impersonal and is something that could be improved to create a more inviting experience. That said, the coffee and overall atmosphere make Monkey Nest a great place to visit, whether you’re looking to work, meet friends, or just enjoy a well-crafted drink.

Google
Not sure how this place got so many good reviews. As you can see in my picture that they barely put any espresso in their drinks and the customer service was awful! The guy that took our order was extremely cold and more interested in talking to his coworkers than taking our order. Will never come back!

Google
Great shop with good food offerings as well. I ordered a green tea matcha and I wish it was sweetened already but I guess I needed to ask, I don't go out for coffee much but this place has a nice vibe. Just wish they had more comfortable seating inside.

Emily K.

Google
After breakfast I saw this place and thought we would try it, so glad we did! It has a great atmosphere, the upfront parking situation said “10 min. parking only” so we didn’t stay inside long, but it was cozy! Lots of seating, and tables if you want to study or do some work. I got the Honey Luv latte with honey 🍯 cinnamon and ginger, it was delicious! ( I asked if they could go light on the honey, and they were happy to accommodate!) Friendly, warm staff, great set up to add cream, sugar, etc., equipped with to-go lids, paper sleeves, napkins, etc. I instantly regretted parking in the 10 min. spot, because it was such a great vibe I wanted to stay!

Yelp
They don't monkey around here. The coffee is excellent. There are stuffed monkeys everywhere and lots of monkey puns on the coffee menu. I'm not sure why they love monkeys so much but, honestly, who doesn't love monkeys? If the coffee is great, I'm good with it. We loved our drinks and we also got a breakfast taco that was very good. They've got cookies and other pastries and everything looked really good. No outside seating but plenty of indoor seating. The environment is inviting and funky. Who knew Austin had such great coffee?
google avatar

Chelsea L.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop with (not real) monkeys! They have a drink line and a food line. You can order from a tablet there and they'll call your name. I thought the empanada was really small but it actually filled me up for breakfast. Also got Monkey's Uncle. You can order drinks iced or hot. Ordered lunch to-go and really just wanted sandwiches but they l came as meals (with chips and a drink). I don't normally eat chips but the chips are actually super delicious! The bacon apple grilled cheese is really tasty. Wi-Fi works really well and there are outlets, so it's a great spot to get some work done. Quite a few parking stalls outside.

Yelp
Monkey Nest coffee is a nice little coffee shop. They stand out in their specialty drinks. Names like Monkey's Uncle, Spicy Monkey Mocha, or Nutty Irishman really got my attention. That Spicy Monkey Mocha was soooo good. I don't know what the ratios of coffee, chocolate, and syrup were, but it border lined on magical. I'm definitely going to come back and try something else. Staff didn't mind me hemming and hawing as I tried to narrow down my order. It's well maintained, with medium lighting to give off the "relaxed coffee shop were you can definitely get a lot of work done" vibe. Chairs are comfy and the restrooms were clean. I came here with one other person on a Thursday and it never got too crowded or too empty the couple hours we hung out.

Yelp
We were out shopping and needed a quick pick me up to finish up for the day. This place was AMAZING, it was a little packed when I arrived but they have an outside patio that accommodated us. The blackberry cobbler has to be one of the best iced drinks and my wife's salted caramel latte was DIVINE OMG. The service at this place was also one of the best I've ever experienced, if you're looking for a good coffee and a relaxing spot this is the place. The gentleman behind the counter was fantastic, he was easy to speak with, made conversation super relaxed with us, and was just a nice guy to talk to. When I ordered my latte, he went on about how amazing it smells and that when he makes it everyone he just can't get the smell out of his nose. I was really hoping he was right and he absolutely was. The taste was incredible, it was a sweet blackberry flavor with a coffee taste and was beautiful. This place is amazing, I'm a little sad that there wasn't enough room to sit when we arrived because it was so busy but I'll absolutely be back. I can imagine coming here and reading a book or doing some school work for sure!!!
google avatar

Mariel T.

Yelp
It was.. fine? I remember this spot being a go to in college with decently priced coffee/food but alas it hasn't lived up to what I remembered. The monkey muffin was a fun take on monkey bread with a muffin bottom. The lavender latte had to much syrup for my preference that I had to let the ice water it down before I deemed it drinkable. If I'm in the area, maybe I'll go again, but I won't go out of my way!

Yelp
Really great study spot with lots of seating and parking. I tried their green friend and tropical sunset smoothie, both were delicious and refreshing. They also have really creative coffee drinks like monkeys uncle, which has PB, chocolate, and banana.
google avatar

Katelyn W.

Yelp
If you want a fresh cheesy pesto grill cheese. This is what you want to order. Comes out warm and gooey. Pairs nicely with Miss Vickie's jalapeño chips. There is a lot space in the building to work and sit down. They allow pets outside. The staff is very patient and friendly. Can't wait to come back for desert.
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered the Thai iced coffee and the cafe latte. Both were good, but not the best coffee I've had. The Thai iced coffee is strong and sweet. The cafe latte is a 6/10. Will definitely return but will try something different. They also have pastries and other snacks. There is seating indoor and a few tables outdoors.
google avatar

Filip S.

Yelp
I came here on a Monday evening when I was craving some hot chocolate and the place was packed. Most folks there seemed to be working on their laptops, so there wasn't much chatter. The walls and shelves were filled with tropics-inspired and monkey decor, quite fitting for the name, which was very amusing to observe. Me and my friend ordered from the touch screen near the entrance and our names were called couple minutes later. I had the large hot chocolate with whole milk and whipped cream, as well as a brownie sandwich. The hot chocolate, unfortunately, was very disappointing. It seemed that it was made with cocoa powder and the milk might have been open for a few days because the drink gave off the flavor of milk that has started to go bad. The whipped cream also wasn't anything special. The brownie sandwich did redeem the experience a little bit, but it would've been even better if it was warmed up. Also, this sandwich is quite large, so we ended up splitting it with my friend. Overall, I liked the vibe of the place and hope that my hot chocolate was simply a fluke.

Yelp
Visit was pleasant and to the point which I liked. Crew was friendly and welcoming. Lavender latte with oat milk - 7/10. Creamy, hint of lavender and not too sweet. Pretty tasty just wish it was a bit more lavender flavor. Good vibes. I'll be returning to try more of their special menu drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered the iced thai tea here. We ended up getting the wrong order - we got a bonus Vietnamese iced coffee! They were both delicious although the ordering system may have not been as organized as other places. Not too loud here. Good place to meet for a chat or study. Love all the decorative monkeys! Try them out!
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
This place was last minute find for our group. We needed something relatively quick and easy on the way out of town. They had a great special and their Thai Iced Coffee was delicious. Definitely worth trying out!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing chai tea latte and moist spinach feta quiche. Lots of parking and good food options. This place is a winner.
google avatar

Jacqueline P.

Yelp
Lots of great house coffee specials and snacks (many with a Greek flair) to boot. I've never seen a coffee shop with to-go dolmas until today. Place was busy but they were well-staffed and keeping things moving. My coffee was good as well as the quiche I ordered. Place has lots of extra seating in the back rooms if you need a quieter section to do work.
google avatar

Julie Z.

Yelp
Lovely place. I've been going here for years and just got around to write this review. On my most recent trip, I had an iced caramel vanilla latte. So tasty! I've had multiple types of their pastries. I appreciate this place because no matter how busy it is, I can generally find parking, the staff is nice, the wait isn't long, and it's pretty quiet in there. Most folks are working or visiting, so it would be a good place to read or study.
google avatar

River V.

Yelp
Very nice and chill environment great food with great drinks and nice employees. I Ordered two drinks for my friend and couldn't afford one so they helped me out and gave it to me on the house they and the employees were very nice about it. So now I come here all the time after school
google avatar

Yelp
This is my to go to for my morning rituals... And pondering "What do I want to be when I grow up?" "A bottle", Aahahahaha! Nutty Irishman (X-hot), and yes, with whole milk (everything steams n tastes better with whole milk), and 2 sinfully delicious black beans empanadas, pls.

Yelp
Monkey nest is one of the less crowded coffee shops that is open late. They have lots of seating areas for various group sizes, plenty of parking, and great drinks. I'm loving the cozy vibe in the room in the back. Perfect for studying!
google avatar

Loni M.

Yelp
I love Monkey Nest coffee! Their menu is so creative and everything is tasty! There is only one location on Burnet and I like that it's not a chain. Their drinks are on the sweet side I will say, but you still get that coffee flavor. It's good for me personally as a pick me up treat in the afternoon. The young lady at the front was very kind and patient while she explained the menu and I tried the Chocolate Chimp Coffee. She recommended coconut milk with it and omg was it good. If you like chocolate and coconut then you will love this drink. It tastes just like a bounty candy bar. I didn't try their food/pastries but it did look yummy. I saw empanadas, quiches and sandwiches mainly. Needless to say, I will be back to try more on the menu!

Yelp
Was in the area after running some errands and decided to give this place a try! When I pulled in I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of parking available - always a win! I also appreciated that they have the menu posted outside and over curbside and mobile take out orders. I was really excited to see a Spicy Mocha option on the menu as I have been on a quest for a good one in the area since falling in love with this flavor during travels for work. I ordered the Spicy Monkey Mocha - flavored with chocolate, cinnamon and Cayenne (12oz iced - $4.99). While it doesn't top my current all-time favorites (from Alabama and New Mexico) it is most definitely the best one I have had in Texas. The drink is well balanced with no one flavor over powering the coffee but each still remains distinctly present in the drink. The shop offers a wide variety of organic drinks, sandwiches and pastries. There is an abundance of seating for working or socializing. The noise levels are pretty low with some mild music playing in the background. Overall a great choice to meet up with friends or get some work done.

Yelp
Monkey Nest has a pretty extensive menu of unique coffee creations that put a spin on your usual morning cup. The Honey Love and Thai Iced Coffee were delicious! The Honey Love comes seasoned with ginger and cinnamon, and with an extra shot, it was absolutely perfect. The Thai Iced Coffee comes already sweetened with condensed milk and is great too. They also have breakfast tacos and pastries available for grub. I'm glad I tried this place out during my visit!

Matthew Z.

Yelp
The vibes are terrible. So is the coffee. Staff is fine. This place is trying to do too much and failing to do anything well. Food? Mediocre. Coffee? Bad. Deli + bakery + cafe = wtf.
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place! Between the fun name and the fact that it was absolutely poppin', I expected amazing things. The Spicy Monkey Mocha was nearly the best Mexican mocha I've ever had (not spicy, but I'm good with that). That deserves 5 stars. However the açaí bowl is not like an açaí bowl at all. The texture was a watery smoothie, and it took over 15 minutes for them to complete it. Because of this I was expecting something decadent and fresh, but was completely underwhelmed and left for wanting more. The vibe is 100% college students working on homework, and it's got some good space if you need to post up for a bit. Overall, probably won't be back unless I want that Monkey mocha!
google avatar

Nicholas L.

Yelp
Great coffee shop vibe. First time here, and love the neighborhood vibe. And yes, the coffee is good as well. Manager Eric and his staff are truly a team. Lots of activity, multitasking, and still friendly when it's time to interact face to face for an order. There is a certain "soul" to this place often times missing from the mainstream coffee shops. Give it a try, you won't regret it!

Rachael C.

Yelp
Premade food in the display wasn't good. The pressed sandwich was pretty decent. Latte was really weak.
google avatar

Tiffany H.

Yelp
If you like sweet and creamy coffee, Monkey Nest is a good option! Here are my thoughts on some of their drinks: Wildflower Lavender Latte- probably the creamiest latte I've tried here! A tad too herbal for my taste but objectively very good. Monkey's Uncle Latte- I believe this is their signature latte, and for good reason! I was a bit worried about the balance of a banana, peanut butter, and chocolate combo with coffee but none of it was too overpowering. A good specialty latte option! Espresso Shake- Now THIS is the drink that keeps me coming back. Not a frappe, so much better (if you have a sweet tooth, love ice cream, and coffee). This may not be for the serious black coffee drinker, but I'd recommend it as a dessert anyway.
google avatar

Jamie H.

Yelp
Their coffee is honestly some of the best I've had! I love iced lattes, and theirs was delicious. Perfect start to a Monday morning :)
google avatar

Sonal G.

Yelp
Really nice local coffee shop with a lot of unique drinks on their menu that I appreciated. I'm also mostly a tea drinker so I loved they have tea latte options and a good sized tea menu, people forget about tea a lot! I had the lavender honey latte, decaf, and it was nice, not too sweet and a hint of floral flavor. Lots of room inside to sit, tables and a couch. Small parking lot outside. I didn't get any food but they do have a sandwich menu as well. Would definitely be a nice place to come study once in a while, and the prices are quite reasonable as well.
google avatar

Alexa C.

Yelp
Much more of a warm local environment compared to the new minimal vibe in these popular Austin coffee shops. Appreciate the atmosphere a lot with space to get work done. I will say it's pretty dark if you sit at the back. More natural light towards the front. Service isn't that fast and it's not slow either. The iced latte is more milky than my preference. But I don't hate it either! Got the matcha. Prefer it sweet or else it tastes bitter. Sorry! Don't look at me like that. Save yourself some change of the extra costs of syrup and douse ur drinks with the free simple syrup!! Will go more for convenience purposes. Also, fast FREE wifi where I don't have to beg for a dang code. That's all loves!

Yelp
I went to monkey nest in September but forgot to review it, so here it is: I wanted to try there specialty coffee so stopped by Sunday afternoon, place looked neat, dine in is open, was able to order as soon I entered, ordered iced nutty Irishmen and requested for less ice, the kids who took the order were friendly and helpful. Took a first sip and loved it, it wasn't too sweet nicely balanced flavors, just the way I like it( sweetness ), was driving and took a second sip after couple of mins then, could hardly taste the flavors, had requested them couple of times for less ice but still it wasn't less ice actually it was more and it had watered it down so much, I should've checked at the shop itself but was in a hurry so dint, my bad‍ Definitely give it a try but just check before leaving the shop!
google avatar

Alexis G.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying i do live Monkey Nest. I used to come here regularly when I worked near by and i would often do homework here. The vibes are wonderful and the food is good! The only reason i'm giving 3 stars is because the coffee is very hit or miss. When it's good it's great, but when it isn't, it's pretty not great. I most recently got a blackberry cobbler latte and it tasted like nothing. Like not even coffee it tasted like steamed water and milk. But i've had coffee there that was also absolutely phenomenal. I would rate 4 stars if the coffee was consistent
google avatar

Diana X.

Yelp
It's not my most favorite flavors even the recommended ones. I just couldn't get around how the monkey mocha tasted. And for the food specifically the monkey muffin tasted like pure sugar there was no other flavor and the monkey taco was way too overpowering with its spices. I couldn't finish it. The ambience and service is really nice though.
google avatar

Anthony M.

Yelp
I've been asked many times about where one should get coffee, so I've made it an effort to try more spots. I recently came to Monkey Nest and damn, they have a good selection of specialty coffees to choose from! I got the: - Wildflower Lavender Latte: wildflower honey and lavender latte. For the person who likes something more herbal and light, this is for you! I'm not the biggest lavender enthusiast, but it was done nice and balanced here. ($4.99 for large) - 4/5 - Monkey's Uncle: peanut butter, chocolate, and banana. Imagine a chocolate dipped banana, but in coffee form! That's what this tasted like and damn it is SO GOOD!! The banana isn't artificial tasting either, so no worries there. This easily is one of my new favorite coffees in town! Must try!! ($4.99 for large) - 4.75/5 All in all, I am very satisfied with Monkey Nest. I'm a sweet drinker, so I'm highly satisfied with the vast amount of specialty coffees to choose from. I will definitely be back soon to try more! With all that said, I give them a 4.5/5 for being amazing!

Serena N.

Yelp
The coffee was good! There were a wide variety and the employees were very friendly even close to closing time! There were several people in the coffee shop doing work so the environment is calm and fairly quiet - perfect for getting work done. There were also plenty of tables to work at!
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
Customer service was great!! Everybody was super friendly & received my order quickly. The Monkeys Uncle iced coffee is great if you're someone who has a sweet tooth. The vegan Hummus sandwich was a little under whelming. Wish the bread was toasted (next time I'll ask) and i wish my sandwich was cut in half. Not a huge deal though.
google avatar

Melanie R.

Yelp
Five stars in my book. It's cozy but has lots of seating at socially distant spaced tables. The ambiance is perfect for studying or meeting up with friends. The back section is often missed but is a little less natural light if you prefer. Outdoor seating available - I've brought my dog here before with no problem. Half covered and half of the outside seating is in the sun. Excellent teas! I always get the Egyptian Chamomile either for there or to go. The mocha was perfectly blended and didn't taste like it was loaded with sugar. Very nice balance. They offer socially distance seating. Quick time from order to pickup. Everyone that's works here that I've met has been very down to earth. I asked them about 10 questions (lol) when I go in and they are happy to respond every time. Can be easy to miss - just don't park in the Papa John's parking lot!
google avatar

Skyler B.

Yelp
If you like sweet specialty lattes, this place is definitely worth checking out! I usually play it safe with iced na villa lattes most of the time, but I decided to try the iced Monkey's Uncle latte (chocolate, peanut butter, banana) and it was so delicious I finished the whole drink in 5 minutes. My husband tried the iced Nutty Irishman and really enjoyed it also!

M D.

Yelp
we dropped in with a family of 7 and received 1:1 attention. the building is totally cute, the employees were kind and wonderful, the drinks were terrific, the pastries immaculate, and the bathrooms were plentiful in the ladies room. no waiting. we will be back!!!!

emma p.

Yelp
Evangeline is the sweetest barista ever! She provides the best service and is always a joy to see!

Yelp
Coffee & Pastries were really good but the Double Sized Hungry Monkey was nasty. You can't microwave a taco in plastic paper and then expect the taco not stick to paper. I ended up with half tortilla and my egg making a mess. Charging $6.00 for a taco to fall apart was messy. Fernie C San Antonio

Yelp
Another great find...Our new thing is coffee after lunch and we are really enjoying bouncing around ATX and trying all the different place...People that are sticking to the Big Box Joints are Really missing out and we get a chance to support local ATX businesses...Super friendly and really a cool looking place...we grabbed 2 Cafe Mochas and 2 Muffins....one Blue Berry...one Cinnamon Crunch...Both were huge, super fresh and hit the spot...The Cinnamon Crunch would be killer with some Hot Coffee...We add to my Collection and keep them in mind when in the Area.
google avatar

Emily T.

Yelp
I was hoping I would like this better. I really enjoyed their drink which I got the one that was a hazelnut cold brew though was a bit disappointed by the pastry options, they were a bit bland which was disappointing. Might try again on drinks but not sure about the food.
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
I miss the days when Monkey Nest was a late night coffee shop. I used to study here all the time when I was a freshman. Their coffee is just okay. I really only come because they open late and I prefer it to other late night coffee shops. They have a lot of seating, which is great. I don't think I would come here just for the coffee, but my recommendation is the chai latte.
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
--- awful wifi!!! there isnt a single time i ever go here anymore in which the internet doesnt fail me. every other part of this place is great, but this is such an integral part of a coffee shop for me that it takes the review down many stars. And the fact that its been consistently bad for many many years is just absurd.
google avatar

Kim N.

Yelp
Went here once before but was disappointed, tried them again today and unfortunately still disappointed. Coffee here tastes watered down. Even tried the cold brew to get something with more of a kick and I must say this is like an iced coffee I can make at home. Not strong whatsoever, and tastes watered down. I will say the banana nut muffin was great! To add, both times I came here the staff seemed "annoyed" even when I asked questions I get a blank stare and one word answer back. For someone who wants actual "help" I suggest going somewhere else.

Jessica C.

Yelp
The coffee here is very inconsistent last time I got a French vanilla iced latte with oatmilk and it was so good and decided to try again and it was different taste I don't know if it was because of a different person making it and the consistency of the syrup wasn't the same but I feel like it should be consistent. The icing on the cake was that we got a bacon egg and quiche and it was cold and warm!! It wasn't heated up all the way and it was frustrating...
google avatar

Lauren D.

Yelp
A cute coffee shop with a great atmosphere to chat with friends or put headphones In and get some work done. The staff is always kind and there's seating on weekdays during the day. In the evenings and especially Sundays you may have to fight college students for seating or parking.
google avatar

Nan T.

Yelp
Their iced coffee is so good!! Really great service too. There is a nice parking lot with lots of space and the inside of the shop is roomy with lots of tables to sit. Both of those things are sometimes hard to come by in Austin.
google avatar

Arthur S.

Yelp
This is my favorite go-to spot for getting some work done outside. Staff are always nice people, there's a good selection of outlets, and the atmosphere is has an excellent local conducive towards productivity. Tbh, many things could be improved - drinks and snacks quality could be more consistent, wifi could be better. But I've felt myself drawn to this place many many times and frequently come here. Overall, I wouldn't come here for the drinks or food (or even the wifi), but the atmosphere is really amazing and perfect for productivity with a nice local feeling and plenty of parking.

Regina L.

Yelp
I really enjoy their cold brew but the baristas could definitely use more training on steaming the milk. I do not want my drinks to look like a bubble bath. The milk should have a silky creamy texture. My cafe au lait definitely did not. So I'll stick to drip coffee or the cold brew.
