Monkey Sushi

Hi Rosedale Monkey Sushi Team, I’ve been a regular customer for several years and have always enjoyed your food, but over the past 6–12 months I’ve noticed a decline in quality. The rolls have become smaller, and the Spicy Alaska Roll (8) in particular now contains very little salmon. In my most recent order, I even found salad leaves mixed into the box, and the filling seemed to be mostly panko crumbs with mayonnaise rather than fish. I understand prices have gone up everywhere, but the quality doesn’t feel consistent with what I used to expect. Unfortunately, it’s no longer my go-to choice as it once was.

It was good food was good, great customer service, loved the shrimp tempura, and the shrimp sushi , and the salmon

We come to Monkey Sushi often and it’s always great. Today our order came super fast, and the food was fresh, tasty, and filling as always 😌. Highly recommend!

⚠️ Public Safety ⚠️ Do Not Enter This Restaurant Alone at night. Person tried to intimidate me by showing aggressive physical activity. On Saturday around 9:30–9:40 PM, I went to pick up a order. When I entered, there was no one at the counter. I waited for about 5–10 minutes and called out several times, but no one responded. I could see a staff member in the back who noticed me but did not acknowledge me. After waiting a total of 15–20 minutes, he finally came forward and spoke very rudely, saying I should either wait or cancel and leave. When I explained that I had been calling out with no response, his behavior escalated. He started shouting aggressively and appeared extremely angry. I felt genuinely unsafe, as his actions suggested he might become physically violent. At that point, I decided to leave the restaurant for my own safety. I understand that working alone can be stressful, but this level of aggression is unacceptable and raises serious public safety concerns. Customers and delivery drivers should never feel threatened in a restaurant. I strongly urge the owner or management to review this incident and ensure appropriate steps are taken so that staff behavior does not put customers or workers at risk. I was about to call 911.

Monkey Sushi runs "Monkey Poke" via Ubereats. Ordered "Monkey Mega Poke" ($22.95) to take advantage of "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" promo. Ubereats allows to choose either Salmon or Tuna( or both combination) along with 8 toppings. With seevice fee, delivery & tax, it worked out as $36 for 2 Mega Poke. When I received poke, then I realized that Mega means "mega topping choices", not maga size poke bowl. Size of poke was just a regular size and just barely enough to be a meal size

Ordered teriyaki beef dish with miso soup. The soup was ice cold and watered down. The beef was in cubes and chewy with no flavour. Also there was barely any sauce. Finished the food because I was hungry, but won't be ordering from here again. The rice is the only thing they got right, hard to mess that up.

Thanks for chopstick and napkins that you didn't put in for my take out order, i guess i had to practice to have them with fingers this time

Monkey Sushi is probably the best budget sushi chain in the city. Unfortunately the quality can be a bit hit or miss, but the value is great. I got the Dragon Roll Party Tray twice from here. The first time I was honestly a little disappointed in the result. The presentation was so-so, the rolls were a little small, and you could tell they were being stingy on the fish. Overall it still tasted good, but I wouldn't have considered it particularly high quality. Despite my lukewarm experience the first time, I got it again a second time since there was a good deal on a delivery app. The second time I got it, you can see it was significantly better. The rolls were plated nicer, they were bigger, and the pieces of sashimi on the nigiri were thicker as well. Overall, I would say be careful when ordering from here as it seems their quality control is a little lacking. Regardless, the price of their platters and combos can't be beat, so if you're looking for a cheaper bite and you're not picky then I would still recommend it.

Almost without meaning to, this restaurant (with multiple locations all over the place) has become one of my regular spots for cheap sushi whenever I have a craving, which is every other day or so. There isn't really anything that stands out, presentation is pretty much nonexistent, but the taste is there and it's a source of comfort for me. Delivery is always super fast, and they often put in a complimentary item (spring roll, salad, small maki roll) which is appreciated. I'd recommend it for a quick fix. :)

Whenever I'm feeling cheap but tasty sushi, this is the place to go. I used to order via UberEats for the deluxe salmon lovers set and other specials. I never had a miss. It manages to keep me full every single time. I dined here recently and the dine-in section is limited to just the right hand side of the entrance. While seating is limited, the service here is great. Food is presented in a take out boxes, so if I wanted to eat it to go, it's already set. Most people wouldn't like this idea but I did. It was a very relaxed environment other than the constant Uber drivers entering to pick up orders but I did not mind one bit. Would definitely go here again.

I ordered the hot fusion roll, avocado sushi pizza and tempura. It was tasty but had a slight odd taste to it. I couldn't tell if the food was stale or just over salted..... it was a strange experience

We have been long time customers at Monkey Sushi (Rosedale location) and have seen the quantity of food in the bento boxes and customer service slowly disintegrate over the past year or so. The person preparing takeout orders often seems angry to be serving you despite customer attempted pleasantries. Inevitably, something in each of our orders over the past 6 months has been wrong when we get it home. We have kept going back, chalking it up to post- pandemic changes or just a one off, but are finding these things consistent and will likely look for a new place to give our business to.

Vegetable tempura had gone bad. Called them to complain and they refused to admit that they had a quality issue. The unapologetic attitude was triggering. Manager and staff kept on emphasizing that they NEVER had quality control issues. What an arrogant restaurant and unpleasant experience. I advise you to go somewhere else for sushi if you don't want to have spoiled food.

I walked over to get some sushi and my goodness this place is a dump! There is garbage all over the front patio - the fence is falling down and is in such disrepair, windows are filthy - I ran not walked away. Imagine if they keep the outside looking like this -how do they cook our food- absolutely filthy environment.!!!!!!

Got Uber eats but one get one free deal for the torched dragon roll and it falls apart. Also got karaage and it is so dry and hard to chew. What a disappointment
