Google
10/10!! Great food, great drinks, and great people. The schnitzel sandwich was delicious and I’ve not stopped talking about it. Friend got the pork belly pasta, pesto was incredible and fresh. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Google
Great staff and food on our trip to Kentucky. We were there when they were setting up for a street festival, so parking was challenging, but the food was wonderful. Our servers name was, I think Alyssa, but she was fantastic!

Super Tax Genius

The Belgian style beers were delicious. Cool atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. Good classic pub fare with some creative options Lots of European pub design aspects but distinctly American.

Google
Just had a super lovely lunch with my friend. I got a Paul bunyan cocktail and the hot brown flat bread and what a fantastic combo that was. I was super stoked about it. Everything and everyone in this place is very cute. The staff are so sweet and friendly. I'm never going to stop thinking about those potato croquettes 🤤

A beer brewing gem in bourbon country! A great variety of beer styles, not just IPAs! Food menu has several delicious options. Also a decent selection of bourbons, too

First off thank you Tristan for an amazing experience! Me and my wife were able to do an awesome flight to start our night, being able to tell our server what we liked and them suggest things along that. On top of the great beers the FOOD was so AMAZING!!! Thank you monnik and Tristan for making our experience here perfect!

Recently visited with my partner. After a mistake with processing our order happened that was out of their control, all of the staff were super nice and helpful. Our meal was comped, and we had one of the most incredible slices of cake in my entire life I still can remember every bite good lord. We're regulars here and always look forward to making our way over for food and drinks. Shoutout Monnik and all the great employees there for making it a good experience.

Google
Star ratings. 1 bad. 2 below average. 3 average / neutral. 4 good. 5 excellent. Driving through town. Stopped for a drink and a snack. Beer cheese was great! Beer was good. Got a few 6 packs to go. None were disappointing.

Yelp
I think I have found my new favorite brew pub in Louisville, which is really saying something because we have a lot of 'em! My husband and I came on a Sunday for an early dinner and it was easy to find parking and a table. We were immediately greeted by the super nice and non-pretentious staff who had great beer recommendations. We started with the bourbon bacon jam crostini which was amazing. Super salty and sweet with a nice tang from the pickled onions. I definitely recommend this one. I also had the Local Burger which was insane. I now want all of my brioche buns to be everything bagel seasoned. My husband had the Bratadella Sandwich and he housed the whole thing! The fries are big enough to share for two people, too. The place is small but they have an outdoor, dog friendly patio which is always nice. We will 100% be returning!

Yelp
I think Monnik is one of the more unique breweries in town. The cafe-style seating on the street makes for a delightful experience. The inside feels more like a restaurant than a brewery. And on top of that, instead of outsourcing food or relying on pizza, they have a very diverse menu. I have been to Monnik several times, but this was my first time enjoying a meal. I ordered a beer to start, of course, along with a Bier Burger. It's a bit of sticker shock to pay $22 for a burger and fries, but my stomach was very happy. The beer was very solid and the burger was filling. I left feeling pretty satisfied and ready to face the day. I don't make it to this brewery enough because there are ones closer to my house, but I always have a nice time. While I do feel there are better breweries and certainly better restaurants, if you're looking for a place that satisfies a craving for good beer and good food, Monnik is a good choice.

Yelp
I had heard really good things about this place, and I had dabbled with some of their award-winning offerings at the Gravy Cup, and I was so excited to finally try it out. We came with some friends and sat at the bar for a little bit. The atmosphere is super cozy with all the wood and the low ceilings. The staff was awesome, too. We loved talking to the bartender and getting his inside scoop on the beer brewing process, and how they achieve the specific notes on their beers. Overall great experience. I can't wait to be back to try out some more of their food!

Yelp
We are in Louisville for the week, and hubby was looking on internet for places near us. We arrived on Sunday afternoon, and he found Monnik, and we decided to go. We had already eaten so we just had a couple of beers. All their beers are clean tasting. We looked at the menu and decided to go back the next day for lunch. So, on Monday we went back for lunch and a beer. He had one of their burgers, and it had a huge fried onion ring on it. He said it was a unique and good burger. I had a salad and added seared Ahi tuna, and it was very tasty. We will keep it on our list of places to go. Fun place and cool atmosphere.

Yelp
Monnik makes my favorite beer I have had in Louisville and I am picky about my beer! I was so pleased they offer flights so I could try a variety of different beers and there were many appetizers that looked delicious on their menu. I got the shishito peppers the first time I went and they were tasty with a great dipping sauce. The second time I went I had the local burger and that baby was delicious. Topped with beer cheese and juicy! The perfect pick me up after a late night out. The pretzel and beer cheese were fantastic as well but beware of the spicy mustard... she is not playing around. It definitely has a wasabi heat that packs a punch. Service decent but definitely better when we sat at the bar. The beer and food here are tough to beat which is probably why we went twice in a single weekend

Yelp
Very dimly let inside, but gave a retro trendy vibe. Servers were really nice and the service was good. Unfortunately the food was very bland. Not much flavor at all. The burger tasted like plain hamburger meat and the fries were the same. The "pretzel" was more like a fluffy breadstick. Definitely could see the potential, but doubt I'd be back. Expensive for what it is too.

Yelp
So friendly and great food and beer! Just passing through town but would definitely come back!

Yelp
This is my favorite brewery and Pub too. I have often attended for their best beers. Their foods are excellent. However, I have discovered that they had new chef and change the menu. I decided to give a try. I will definitely come back fo3 more menu items to try! I ordcred the fried chicken sandwich. It was top notched I ever had. It is not too spicy. It is just the right amount of spicy. The chicken was moist and the breading was good. I wish I could order different side but I was in mood for fries. I saw one item that I am curious to try was Koren Fries Cauliflower. Thats the reason I will come back to try it. Come and try this fabulous Chef Wes's menu!

Denise M.

Yelp
It's a bar. Food was ok. I don't drink beer so probably should have picked someplace else.

Yelp
The staff were very welcoming in this cozy tavern! It felt like we were arriving at a medieval inn-turned gastro pub after a long days journey into night. The food was German-inspired (we were in Schnitzelberg after all). Savory and delicious, and a great example of the style. There's plenty of variety throughout Louisville's restaurants but this felt like a great example of a "local" favorite. Be sure to check out the beer fridge before you go! They make their own stuff and often have a variety of cans for purchase too.

Yelp
Great food!! The beet and goat cheese flatbread was to die for. The hot honey chicken sandwich was also delicious. The drinks were amazing, as well. We will be back soon to indulge!

Yelp
Menus come and go, but Monnik is a keystone. My friends and I are always sure to have a wonderful time!! Right now, check out the KFC (Fried Cauliflower) for the wing fan. Execution is on point, and the atmosphere is easy. Sit outside on a nice day and laugh over perfectly crafted beers.

Yelp
Very elective vibe. Love it. Delicious beers and food. Great staff. Love the local vibe even tho we aren't

Yelp
Passing through Louisville and needed a dog-friendly spot for a break and a snack. Monnik has some excellent beer and the food and service are both top-notch and better than I ever would have expected from a random stop while traveling - I guess I lucked out. Next time through my stop won't be random - it'll be on purpose!
google avatar

Yelp
Very good beer option with just price for flights. Good menu is tasty. Great vibes and music.

Yelp
Excellent rotating menu! Had the curry fries last time I was there and the taste profile was exquisite and unique. Always find a drink or two on the menu that interest me and the vibe within the restaurant is perfect for a quick bite or a nice dinner with the family! Service is always fast and friendly

Yelp
This place is AMAZING!!! we didn't have a single thing that was *meh*, it was all different levels of amazing. we got a Bavarian pretzel, with 3 great accompaniment sauces, a pork belly pesto pasta, and the most buttery soft lemon pepper asparagus! We got two flights -total of eight beers- all what the description promised. All their beers are made on sight. we are home brewers and were so impressed with flavors, pairings of grain/flavors and the finishes. Our server was chatty and knowledgeable! Its is nestled in the heart of Shnitzleburg, in Getmantown. We ate outside, everyone walking by with their dogs and knowing each other was great. When you visit Louisville, visit here.

Ken A.

Yelp
Great beer, great food, great service. Definitely recommend a visit. I recommend the pasta or burger.

Yelp
4 - I'd drive 30 minutes just to come here. Skip to the end to see my rating scale. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but that seems to be a common case in Louisville in the two days we were there. I'd really like to check it out in warmer weather when the pet friendly outside areas can be used. Big plus in my book. Good selection of a variety of styles. On this trip to KY and TN we noticed that IPAs aren't the same as in other places. I didn't look specifically, but I'd guess that the IBUs are significantly lower than what an IPA drinker might expect. But other than that, the beers were pretty good with plenty of darks and lights to choose from. The bartender recommended the local burger. We got a big order of War fries to go with it. The burger was way too salty for my taste, but the fries were good. The house mayo and peanut satay made them pretty interesting. Next time we in the area, I'd gladly drive a little bit out of the way for appetizers and beers. (Just not an IPA or a burger.) And I hope to have the opportunity to hang out on the patio for a few hours on a warm spring evening. Rating Scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive up to 30 minutes just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here

Roseann A.

Yelp
The server was friendly and informative. The mortadella brat had a good texture. The hot honey chicken schnitzel had a very nice flavor, but a bit overcooked. The fresh, hand cut fries were delicious. Great menu items. Family friendly restaurant.

Yelp
Great food & amazing service! Service was top notch as the server continuously checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed! Food was good, I really enjoyed the appetizers we got, the charcuterie board & pretzel were both delicious and rather large! That of course didn't stop us from ordering a main dish and taking home the leftovers. I got the schnitzel and the only thing I didn't like was that it was a little dry for my liking. I love that they have their vegan & vegetarian options clearly labeled, can't wait to bring some friends here! The space is what you'd expect of a beer company restaurant, casual and a bit industrial meets old timey.

Yelp
As a recent retiree, I'm on the lookout for cheap good eats. I feel like I hit the jackpot at Monnik Beer in Germantown. Their sides are $3 at lunchtime. Hub and I split a lion's mane sandwich with 3 sides: pickled cabbage, grilled broccolini and stamppot....mashed potatoes with carrots and kale. So good! Love Monnik s menu everyday but love their lunch special even more. They have a really nice atmosphere, outside seating, great service and upscale pub and healthy food items. Of course the beer and drinks menu is great with fun non alcoholic choices. I tell the bartender what I like and they create a mocktail for me. Nice garden outback that is good for kids. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants and with good prices.

Yelp
Don't go here unless .....you want great beer and a great service. Such a great atmosphere and great food. Definitely worth a check out

Yelp
Oh my gosh! Best burger ever! Anna was a great server. Fast and courteous. Good location. Nice atmosphere. Now the burger! Bier Burger! Wow! Wow! Fresh ground beef, beer cheese, beer mustard (With really good horseradish, just the right amount!). And the best beer battered onion ring I think I've ever had! We WILL be back!

Yelp
Great gastropub. The Korean fried cauliflower was great. Burgers were excellent with good solid beers selection.

Yelp
Best sausage and mash I have had since moving to the US from England 20years ago. Couple this with great beer and service it's a win.

Yelp
Incredibly knowledgeable server! She must have been a manager or owner, and of not? Wow!!! She knew every detail possible and every recommendation she gave us was spot on perfection. We will be going there again the next time we go through town! Food was beyond delicious! Drinks were as well! Don't second guess, just GO THERE!

Yelp
It's been several years since I have been to Monnick, but we stopped by for dinner before a concert recently. It was a Saturday night and we had no reservations, but showed up around 6:30 pm and were able to be sat immediately (score)! We had a large table by the window with some extra seating. We had a very nice server, who admitted it was her first night. She was friendly, but we noticed service was a bit slow and we had to remind her about a few of our drinks - we were in no hurry so that didn't affect our experience. We began with drinks - I don't love their beer options but they had a margarita slushee that was calling my name! It was delicious and I ordered at least two. They have lots of beers on tap and then some can and bottle options. The menu is very diverse with meat, vegan and vegetarian items on it. We started with the grilled crudite ($15), fried green tomatoes ($14) and pub pretzel ($11). The grilled crudite was slightly disappointing for the price. They gave us a huge bowl of fondue but was mostly raw veggies. The fried green tomatoes were excellent - not green - but we loved them anyway. The sauce on the plate had everyone scraping for the last bite. The pub pretzel was good but small portion for $11 and they barely gave any fondue. For dinner we ordered the Reuben sandwich ($15) and local burger ($17). Pricing is high considering it doesn't come with a side. The Reuben was a good traditional sandwich but not sure if I'd get it again. All in all, the drinks were flowing and we had a great view of the restaurant and street. Food is on the pricer side, but it was all very good.

Yelp
Just stopped in for a beer! Great atmosphere, great service and hospitality. Even though we did not eat, everything that came out from the kitchen looked amazing! They have really good beer! I totally recommend! Enjoy!!

Yelp
Great beer Friendly staff Always love when there's rice beer on tap. Let alone two. Worth a try. Burgers look fabulous.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Good beer selection. They do flights with 4 small pours. Had dinner also. Food quality and quantity both great. Sat at the bar since I was solo. Service was excellent.

Yelp
I'm not sure how a person lives in Schnitzelburg for half a decade and doesn't patronize Monnik Beer Company....but that's me. That's my family. The Germantown Schnitzelburg Blues Festival was going on tonight. We parked and were walking by when we decided to pop in on the fly. We weren't starving. We'd had a significant meal already today, but it was hot enough to be able to appreciate a crisp beer, if nothing else. I ordered an Italian Disco (and then another) and Kyle ordered a Hauck's American Pilsner (and then another). We got pretty comfortable and ordered a house-made pretzel with beer cheese and Gouda fondue. Now, I haven't been to Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, but it was the best I ever had. The Gouda was phenomenal. My two-year-old asked if it was okay to dip her fingers in it once the pretzel was gone. I didn't blame her. I let her. I was jealous. The beer cheese had a kick and the perfect texture. I can't recall having better. It was intriguing. It led us to consider having another "snack." And so came the BBQ beef fries, smothered in smoked jalapeño jam, Gouda fondue, Eagle Skull onion straws, and house BBQ spice. The consistency, distribution of toppings, the crispiness of the fries, it was delicious. We were so impressed, it left us jonesing for more. Needless to say, we'll be back. Not only did the food leave us satisfied, the service was exceptional. Our server, LJ, explained the rotating menus and use of locally sourced food. She gave us the space and time we needed while we debated if we needed food and/or more drinks on what is probably one of their busiest nights. She was charismatic, kind, and accommodating to our children. If I'm completely honest, there's some local spots that, in my experience, haven't measured up to the hype. This doesn't seem to be the case with Monnik. I'll be heading back in the near future. The local burger is next on my list. And I'll be crossing my fingers that there's room for a party of four in LJ's section.
google avatar

Andrea E.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a long time! I heard they have vegan options! Today I ordered the beet salad and I loved it! My friends all ordered burgers which they loved. I'll definitely be back. I'm not a beer person but they have a ton of crazy beers.
google avatar

Yelp
Monnik delivers on fantastic seasonal menus, beer, and Vibes! Everything Monnik does is with a passion and intention. You can always tell when a business model follows this approach or doesn't. And Monnik doesn't let you down. The food is by far some of the best in town. The menu rotates baded on tje season. The jackfruit and vegan dishes always change - which, I appreciate. You can bring dogs to sit outaide and they always have fun events!

Willis P.

Yelp
Very good vegan options. I live in Lexington, but have hit them up several times when in Louisville. Never fails. Plus excellent beer.

Chris M.

Yelp
The food was fine, other than a limited menu that day, but when I got my bill, I found out something else. I had a $100 gift card, and when I gave the waiter the gift card, he took it and came back a little later, saying their system was not accepting gift cards due to an issue, and I had to pay some other way. This was a real inconvenience since the reason I tried it was the gift card.

Yelp
I'm not sure how Monnik Beer has flown under my radar for such a long time. My book club met here recently, and I was delightfully surprised by the various and sundry options. There were plant based choices in multiple areas of the menu (including a truly glorious mushroom sandwich with vegan boursin which I devoured, and vegan mushroom poutine fries which I have my eye on for next time). Our server was intimately familiar with the menu options and ingredients, and without hesitation was able to direct us toward menu items that would fit our dietary preferences and allergy restrictions. I'm not a beer person, however several of my dining companions are, and they were very happy with their choices. I have only two pieces of constructive criticism. First, it's not a quiet place, which makes it slightly difficult to have a conversation. Second, the tip is added automatically to parties of 6 or more, and added before tax so the tip is also taxed. One of our members did the math and determined the tip was 22%. This honestly is likely less than we would have tipped if we had been left up to our own devices, as we tend to linger for a while and like to compensate for that, but being told how much we should tip made us not want to add our typical extra. Overall, however, Monnik is an excellent place for food, friendship, and festivities, and I will certainly be back to try the poutine.

Yelp
We were looking to kill a little time between touring the Kentucky Derby and our reservations at a local distillery and we randomly stumbled upon this spot. Since we wanted a small bite to hold us over, we decided to share a couple of appetizers. The pub pretzel with gouda fondue was so amazing that we ended up ordering a second when our friends arrived. We also snacked on the crudites, which also happened to come with the gouda fondue for dipping.

Yelp
When looking for a local brewery, that has great food, Monnik is ALWAYS a win. We used to bring potential new hires to Monnik so show off Louisville's unique neighborhoods and amazing food. Now, bringing my husband to Louisville it we a a must. We had Turkey chili, crispy fingerling potatoes, beer cheese and bread, and he had the schnitzel sandwich. All around YUM. We sat at the bar and the bartender was knowledgeable and welcoming. My husband love the beer list. We took canned beers back to the hotel. The restaurant is reminiscent of a German lodge. Cozy, dark ambience; great beer, and delicious warm food.

Angie R.

Yelp
We love Monnik! It's our * go to * lunch spot with great beer and wine. The burgers are the best! I had the beet with prosciutto flatbread to try something new today, but it was lacking prosciutto. Proscuitto is listed as the first main ingredient in the menu for the flatbread, but I didn't see or taste any prosciutto (disappointed because I love prosciutto). The empanadas were all red cabbage with hardly any pork; also disappointing. Just wanted to give you guys some feedback. If the flatbread has significantly more prosciutto and fresh pieces with some arugula, it would be a lot better. The empanadas just need more pork in them to be more delicious.
google avatar

Karen J.

Yelp
We stopped in on a Friday afternoon to grab some lunch after just arriving into town. The vibe is very chill and a great brewery spot. My dude had the artichoke and spinach flatbread, which was phenomenal. I opted for the roasted beet and goat cheese salad with arugula and grilled chicken. Both dishes were incredibly tasty and not too heavy. The customer service was on point and we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing lunch. Definitely a great spot to check out.

Shannon C.

Yelp
We spent $60 on our meal only to be told we could not use our gift card. They said that they got a new system and could not take gift cards today. They are one of the choices on the Best of Louisville gift card and we drove an hour to get there. Will not be back.

Yelp
We stopped in for the first time 14JUNE'24. The food was very good, and our waitress was nice and attentive. I had the Brat on a pretzel bun, someone in our party had the Bier Burger, and he really thought it was marvelous, and my Wife had a burger that had their horseradish-mustard on it; so good! Great beer selection, including well--done German beers. Only one downside, the death-metal 'music' was not... optimal.

Yelp
We came here on a whim looking for some beer and lunch, and whew, what a great find. My fiancé asked me my favorite meal of the weekend, and this was it. We walked in Saturday around lunch time, and there was plenty of space at the bar, so we grabbed a spot. The service was super quick, and super helpful - my fiancé was able to taste a couple beers before ordering and their samples are pretty large! Both beers we had were pretty freaking awesome. Food came pretty quick as well, my fiancé has the Cuban and I got the bahn mi. The fries were super crunchy and tasty, the Cuban was packed full of flavor, and the bahn mi? In its own category. For the price, it's 100000X worth it. The cauliflower is perfectly cooked, crunchy outside and soft inside, then it's coated in the most flavorful sauce. Can I just eat the cauliflower every day? Then they load the sandwich up with tons of veggies and flavors. So. Good. I'll be dreaming about this lunch for a long time coming, highly highly recommend!

Yelp
I'm usually a very picky person when it comes to salads - or at least I used to be. Hopefully my last few trips to Monnik has knocked me of the annoying habit of only like *certain* topping on my salad with ranch on the side. I find it increasingly difficult to not order the seasonal salad when I go to Monnik now. It changes all the time, so you never really know what to expect. It's really broadened my view of a) what a salad can be and b) all the delicious combinations you can make to create something completely new and delicious! Last time I went, the seasonal salad had radishes and big ol' chunks of fresh cucumber - it was refreshing and filling all at once. They really do set you up with a hefty portion. Now I'm making myself hungry...

Yelp
I've been looking forward to a return to Monnik! I took three of my co-workers out for dinner and loved when they sat us down at a front window seat. Monnik has a good amount of seating plus a bar area and patio tables. While I've not been upstairs they have a room available for larger parties and rental too. Still love the available beers, especially King George! Another star was the side of brussels. I ordered a burger which was good, nothing crazy, and a side of fries. The fries used to be amazing but these weren't the same and fairly bland. Skip the fries and stay with the brussels. I was also bummed that Monnik doesn't have fish on their regular menu - it used to be my favorite dish and had been on my mind. Monnik is worth another visit! I noticed canned beers in a refrigerated area and assume you can purchase them to take home. Also if you're meeting as a group the host told someone that half their party needed to be there in order to be seated.

Yelp
When you want a local "neighborhoodie" place to meet your friends after work for a seasonal brew or have an impromptu date night (me!), Monnik is the spot. It's just got a cool vibe and although the food is "pub food", it's elevated. We just walked in and waited less than 2 mins. The burgers never steer us wrong, but def took some consideration. The brisket and the mushroom dish looked so good, and I know the salads are great too! Fries were solid! Don't get me going about the pretzel and house made beer cheese.... What more could anyone want??? The pretzel is the best I've ever tasted in my life. Its must-order item & perfect to split with someone, or not!! I ordered the seasonal basic witch drink & ended up ordering a second because it was just delicious! Seasonal beer too & specials ($5 certain beers on tuesdays).

Yelp
The rotating menu is always on point. Even though I may reminisce on items of menus past, they never disappoint with providing a new fave. The staff is very knowledgeable & engaging. Monnik is on heavy rotation in my restaurant circuit.
