Van Leeuwen Is Giving Away Free Ice Cream Today | Eater NY

"After a fire closed it down in 2013, the East Village Korean fried chicken restaurant Mono + Mono is back at 116 East Fourth St., between First and Second avenues, operating as a flower shop by day and a bar-restaurant at night; the menu has been changed up a bit, but the fried chicken is still available." - Stefanie Tuder

From the moment we walked in the video was amazing. The staff was super friendly and the service was great. We were seated in one of the intimate booths which was great seating. The in house DJ was playing perfect upbeat dinner tunes and the noise level was well balanced. First the drinks very very well prepared. Great balance, great taste and beautiful presentation. Prices were very reasonable and based on the food and service - the price was a bargain for this amazing experience. You must make the effort to go!

Dining at Mono+Mono Restaurant was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is stunning, with beautiful floral decor that creates a warm and inviting ambiance. The food was exceptional — the beef tartare appetizer was fresh and flavorful, and the bibimbap had a distinctive taste that set it apart from other places. The galbi jjim was perfectly tender and rich in flavor, a true highlight of the meal. Overall, Mono+Mono combines great food, lovely presentation, and an enchanting setting — a place I’d gladly return to.

I love this place. The menu isn't super full but it covers a good amount of bases. Happy hour here is great. $30 bottles of prosecco, $2 oysters 😋, if you love floral arrangements you'll be in love here. Give the bulgogi burger a try 👌 It is cash or Amex only. There is an ATM on site.

Google
LOVED that spot! The ambiance is adorable. I’d recommend sitting in the little booth area by the vinyl walls. There’s a DJ (I went on a Monday, so I’m assuming it’s every day!), and it’s full of flowers and Vinyls everywhere! Those chicken wings are the BEST ones I've ever had! A mix of crunchy and slightly sweet (from honey, I guess). A plate of 6 for two people was not enough… Also had the shishito peppers and okra, which were really good and not spicy at all. As a main dish, we shared the Kimchi fried rice with egg and beef, and the braised beef short rib. The fried rice was super flavorful and a pretty unique dish. The short rib was disappointing… a bit chewy and not memorable. Skip it. We had the coconut cake to share for dessert, which our waiter highly recommended and commented that it was his favorite. It was definitely good if you like coconut. A bit sweet and slightly too much icing, but soft and moist inside. Overall, a great dining experience, great with friends or with a date. Would 100% eat here again!

Google
This place is beautifully and uniquely decorated, love the fresh flowers and walls of vinyls and the photo frame booths!! The food was delicious! MUST get the wings, they’re hands down one of the best wings in the city!!! We got the sangrias and they’re yummy. Don’t miss their $2 oyster happy hour, such a great deal and the oysters were so fresh and came with three sauces. We order the bulgogi burger with fries and truffle japchae as our main dishes and omg this meal from ambience, taste, and service was top-notch!! Price is very reasonable for the food quality and portion. Thank you MONO+MONO for an overall enjoyable meal experience 🙏🏻🩵

Google
I expect more from the food and service considering the price point, but independent from that the experience was solid. The fries are a decadence-day delight, and the savory pancakes are nice and crispy on the outside, soft and layered on the inside. The soup was fine. The decor is top tier - smart use of (what I think) is a repurposed garment conveyor belt dotted with vintage records. I wish the thought invested in design and aesthetic extended to the rest rooms (which make me suspect the cleanliness of the kitchen - the rest rooms are a bit grimy, and not in the “curated mess” kind of way. A tad disarming). I’m being harsh, so I’ll balance it by saying I’d still dine here again (I’ve been 3x before) - especially if my mind blanks on restaurants and a friend is visiting town - this is my default. Keep in mind this establishment is cash-only!

Jessie

Google
This is honestly one of the best restaurant atmospheres I have been to in a while. The service was phenomenal and the portion sizes are large! The food is a bit oily in my opinion so get a salad to help balance things out! If you’re looking for a trending yet comforting place to go definitely come here!

Google
Drawn in by the flowers, jazz, and open vibe, I stopped for a drink and ended up getting oysters for happy hour. The soju-based espresso martini wasn’t really my thing, but the oysters were great. Next time, I’m coming back for wine and more food

Yelp
One of the best experiences we've had with close friends. The staff was friendly and truly amazing, making us feel right at home. The decor was beautiful -- full of thoughtful details, lush flowers, and vibrant plants that added so much warmth to the atmosphere. But the real highlight? The food. Everything we tried was outstanding. The beer and wine selections paired perfectly with the dishes, especially the crispy chicken wings. And the standout of the night? The exotic okra -- beautifully roasted without any mushiness -- and the shishito pepper marinade that brought a bold, delicious twist. A memorable night we'll be talking about for a long time.

Yelp
Greeted by a very kind and welcoming host. Gorgeous interior. Not sure what the theme is but it was pretty endearing, whimsical, fitting for my autumn visit. Tried the Cococane Mojito and Blueberry Cocktail. Pretty to look at but they left a fairly bitter vegetable taste. Almost like rhubarb. The food itself is average. While I did enjoy the overall flavors, I don't know if I could say it was worth the price. I thịmk this place is worth visiting mainly for the interior and vibes. Not many places like it. From the floral touches to the vinyl bookshelf seats, this was a cozy backdrop for dinner and I was in no rush to leave.

Yelp
Super cute interior, friendly staff, and decent food. Nice spot for dates with closed off bookshelf seating areas :) FOOD: Soy Garlic Wings (8/10) - Reminds me just like bonchon. Super solid and juicy wings with the perfect glaze Kimchi Fried Rice (7/10) - Good flavor, but pretty oily compared to most kimchi fried rice I've had. Worth trying Truffle Japchae (5/10) - Smells like truffle but you can't taste it at all. Extremely oily as well.

Yelp
Amazing ! Esthetically beautiful and pleasing! The food delicious and delightful. Next time I'm in NY I will definitely come back . Good food amazing ambience!

Yelp
I loveeee this place! The expresso martinis are the best I've had in nyc so far. The kimchi fried rice and bibimbap are my favorites to get. I don't even like martinis and the pickle martini was so good! The staff is great and very friendly - nothing bad to say about this. It's so pretty inside! Lots of flowers and a giant tree inside. Also has tons of books giving it an aesthetic garden x library vibe. Perfect for casual dinner with friends or a dinner date. Even if you come just for drinks it's worth it. Also pretty affordable and won't break the bank

Yelp
The vibes of MONO+MONO are so uniquely beautiful. I was truly blown away by the beautiful bookcases, dried flowers, and wooden decor scattered throughout the place. The food was a bit of a let-down for me and the service wasn't the most attentive, but the ambiance is truly unmatched. FOOD [4/5] + Squash Soup (3/5) A pretty good take on squash soup. I wish it had a little more depth and flavor because it just tasted like soup out of a box. It was also served a little cold, which was unappetizing. + 6 Chicken Wings (5/5) These were great! I loved the addition of veggies and sauce. The chicken wings are crunchy, juicy, and flavorful. A bit expensive for just 6 wings but I would order again! I would come back to MONO+MONO to try more food but this is a great place to take a date. :)

Yelp
MONO+MONO has that dark, moody vibe that feels made for date night -- cozy lighting, shelves full of books (no, you're not expected to read them), and just enough atmosphere to make you feel cooler than you are. There's a huge flower arrangement in the middle of the room that's definitely trying to be the main character -- and honestly, it kind of works. Food-wise, the braised short rib was super tender and packed with flavor. The crazy kimchi fries were messy in a good way -- spicy, cheesy, and hard to stop picking at. Solid spot if you're looking for good food and a place that feels just a little more interesting than your usual dinner out. Service was solid, what you would expect at a place like this.

Yelp
This, placd is beaituful and unique with flowers decoration. Amazing! Lovely! Food is tasty - we ordered truffle japchae and salmon rolls. Both very tasty. You must visit this place. I was impressed.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has the coolest decor/ambiance. Good lychee martinis, and some more adventurous options like a pepper martini or pickle martini. We enjoyed the food, apps especially. Don't miss out on the shoshitos/okra! For mains the japchae noodles were tasty but a bit monotonous, and the kimchi rice really needed the bulgogi to shine. Bimibap (served w soy meat substitute) was just ok. Detracting from the experience were the servers pushing our table to leave at the end.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
I believe most people come here was because of the stunning inside decoration But the happy hour food really surprised us. Especially the kimchi fried rice! Yummy. Super cheesy. wings are also good but kimchi fried rice was my favorite Servers are really nice.

Yelp
What can I say. We've been here numerous times. This time a party of 7. The place is amazing, it's an asault on your senses - jungle (yes live plants galore), DJ spinning, 15K album wall, studio tape player, conveyer belt on the cieling carring album covers...and then the food. Must have - wings, clam chowder, braised beef short ribs, Truffle Japchae - glass noodles with mushrooms and truffle oil We've never been disppointed

Yelp
We were accommodated as a group of 8 celebrating my friend's birthday! They were super great with us and service was fast and timely. They did say the amount of food we originally proposed were not that much food for 8 people but honestly we were all so full after eating all the dishes. The vibes here are perfect for a get together and a date night (my friend has been here on a first date five times) and I definitely enjoyed my time here. I think the only thing I would flag is that the price is really high and especially because we were charged $30 for two tiramisu with birthday candles also. Kind of pricey... and the tiramisu isn't that good so I would recommend probably bringing your own cake here and seeing how much it is to accommodate it. -- APPS -- Baechu jeon 1/10 - Korean pancake. Absolutely soggy and not good. I wasn't a fan- I've definitely had better. Artichoke - 1/10 waste of money- hard to chew and eat Mono wings- 10/10 amazing actually. So crispy and tasty. I always expect this to be good at a Korean restaurant though. The soy garlic was flavorful and not too oily and/or coated! -- MAINS -- Truffle japchae 10/10 - probably my favorite one! So tasty and flavorful. Bibimbap- 4/10 very average... don't know why someone would pay for this other than dieting. Kimchi fried rice - 6/10 good but it taste less kimchi than expected. Egg is cooked nicely. Strip steak 10/10 - my fave! Everything was cooked to perfection and the cooked carrots made the mashed potato even better. The meat is so tender. I really enjoyed this one. Braised beef short ribs- 10/10 excellent! Cooked and marinated really well. We also ordered some pork dish that wasn't on the menu online but it's not that good. -- DESSERT -- Tiramisu 1/10 $15 too much. I didn't like it- very bland and not soft enough. Overall I really enjoyed the mains more than the apps I especially didn't like the artichoke and the Korean pancake which I would avoid at all cost since the price tag is already so hefty. I would prioritize other things or even just order more wings. My favorites were def the skirt steak and the truffle japchae.

Yelp
Mono+Mono was as tasty as it was beautiful. Impeccable decor, fantastic playlist, unique seating options, and so many little details to notice throughout your experience here. Very attentive and helpful staff. The drinks though, to die for! The pine soju and fig soju cocktails were unique, mild, and earthy, perfectly balanced and not too sweet.

Yelp
I came here for dinner one day and truly had a good time. The interior of the restaurant is probably one of the most stunning restaurants that I've been to in New York. It's spacious, with high ceilings and plenty of seating as well as detailed decor, with natural greenery and records everywhere. Service was good here. My friend and I got their truffle japchae and a sushi roll to share. The truffle japchae was amazing and was packed full of flavor. I just wish they had an option to add a protein or something to it. The sushi roll was also pretty solid. Would come back here to try their fixed menu or other items!
google avatar

Yelp
One of the cutest restaurants I've ever been to?? You'd never guess the interior looked like that given how innocuous the exterior looks. We had a party of 3, and technically you need a party of 4 for prix fixe, but the staff was kindly able to accommodate our request! The prix fixe was A LOT of food, though. We got so full off of the apps that we could only take a few bites of our individual entrees at the end. Something to keep in mind if you plan to do prix fixe with a smaller group! With that being said, we only got so full off the apps because they were all so delicious! Seriously all hits no misses. My Wagyu fried rice at the end was also phenomenal - recommend! Overall, this spot is worth a visit! Just be sure to come on an empty stomach!

Yelp
The atmosphere inside was amazing, such unique decorations and it looked like I was in like a wizard's quarters. Very cool and the service was fast. However, I was a little disappointed in the food. The bulgogi burger was definitely pretty good but the bibimbap was very arbitrary and didn't feel like real korean food. Everything was just alright and I couldn't feel the Korean influence on the food as much as I would've liked. But very cool space!

Yelp
You must make a reservation here! The place is super cute and nice for a date night!! Try to get seated next to the bookshelf it's so cuteee. Service is pretty good and food comes out fast. I got the half and half wings and the truffle japchae which was enough for 2 people. Everything is very rich in flavor/filling, but I didn't think it was anything special. Overall the vibes are super nice but the food is alright!! Worth a try if you're coming to nyc and want korean fusion food.

Yelp
We had an 8 PM reservation for 14 but arrived at 7:47. Despite that, our seats weren't ready until 8:16. When we asked for an update around 8:03, the front desk attendant simply told us we had to wait 15 minutes. Meanwhile, they seated another large party that arrived after us. It was frustrating that reservations didn't seem to be managed properly--what's the point of booking ahead if the timing isn't respected?. Food-wise, it was good and unique. The truffle japchae was great--you could really taste the truffle. I also enjoyed the kimchi fried rice. The shishito peppers were interesting, with a nice spice and seasoning. Some dishes leaned a bit heavy on the salt, though. We also tried a meat dish (I forgot the name), which was savory and tender on my end. However, my friends, who had larger pieces, found theirs tougher to chew. It seemed like some pieces might have been overcooked or not handled evenly while cooking. We also got the infused soju, which is perfect for those with a lower tolerance--it mostly just tasted like juice. The decor is really cute, with books in the background, adding to the cozy atmosphere. Overall, I'd say this place is better suited for a date night rather than a large group gathering. Disclaimer: They only take Amex and Cash, so be prepared when you come

Yelp
A flower shop/cafe/restaurant is gonna blow your mind. Beautiful interior design of a library. The seating inside is very cute. You can sit in these tall chairs next to the shelves and it'll look like you are framed artwork. The service is good. They filled up our water pretty frequently and the servers were very welcoming. We got the Caesar salad. It was good but probably had a little too much dressing. I had the bulgogi burger paired with fries which were delicious. Very juicy and get ready for your hands to get messy. A nice combo of sweet but also salty with the bulgogi. My wife got the bulgogi kimchi fried rice which was also delicious. Not as spicy as other kimchi fried rice I've had. Definitely make a reservation when going even for lunch or dinner as the restaurant can get very crowded.

Yelp
Lovely date spot. Had lunch here with my husband and we had a great time. The interior is so aesthetically pleasing. When you walk in you're drawn in by the beautiful decor and strong aroma of fresh flowers. There are old vinyls that line the walls, and there are a couple of tables along that wall with high chairs and each are tables for two. Each of those tables are lined with a frame that you literally walk into to get to your seat, which makes a perfect photo op. The ambiance is so romantic, which seems a bit of a juxtaposition with their menu which offers some gastropub like items on their menu, such as burgers, and fried chicken. My husband and I ordered a ceasar kale salad to share, which was good but had a bit too much dressing. I myself, got the bulgogi kimchi fried rice, which was so flavorful and tasty. The balance of flavors between the kimchi and bulgogi was perfect and the cheese on top tied it all together. My husband got the bulgogi burger which he really enjoyed. The burger was juicy and delicious. The fries were also A+. Would want to come back to try other items on their menu especially the korean fried chicken.

Yelp
I seen Mono+Mono all over Tiktok, so my guard was up when I walked in. In my experience, places that are hyper curated like this tend to lack attention to detail when it comes to the food, and I was here to GRUB. I was nervous as I walked in with my big bro, my grand big bro, and grand bigs sister. Grand big RARELY invites me to dinner, so this was a big event. This place passed the vibe check with flying colors. Little 2 seat high top tables tucked under a 20 foot wall of 15,000 vinyl records, the most beautiful floral arrangements you've ever seen, jars of fermented foods above the bar, honestly one of the best ambiances I've seen in the city. It was almost too good. My words feel futile trying to describe it. As our group was appreciating the modernist quasi-industrial interior, I said "I hope it's not just fluff to hide some mid-food... it's feelin real fluffy in here..." Right when the words left my mouth I wished I could have them back. Grand big shot me a look that I can only liken to a prime Mike Tyson in a pre fight faceoff. I knew I would get a knuckle sandwich later. We opted to share everything and ordered 12 wings (6 garlic & 6 spicy), shishito peppers, a baby artichoke, bulgogi fried rice, and 2 bulgogi burgers. I almost ordered a martini but grand big doesn't drink, that would have been strike 2. The crispy wings made me eat my words right off the bat. They were delicious. No fluff. I couldn't decide if I liked the garlic or the spicy more. The shishito peppers did their thing as well. I didn't eat the artichoke because I never understood the artichoke hype, but the rest of the table loved it. The bulgogi fried rice was GAS, but was a small portion for $22.95 if we are keeping it a buck. The burgers were the only thing that we got where my fluff meter was correct. It was eh. Although this was the first bulgogi burger I've ever had to be fair. When I come back, it will be for the wings, shishito peppers, and a couple of martinis as these drinks looked bomb. All in all, Mono+Mono should be in the dictionary next to "ELITE 2nd date spot." I'm out the game now, but fellas this should be your only 2nd date spot. I think it'd be too much for a first date, but I would always do a chill first date when I was still hoopin. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

Yelp
Very aesthetically pleasing, decent food, and mid service. While the ambiance is beautiful, the seating is extremely tight with no hooks for coats or bags- making things a bit uncomfortable in this cooler weather. They have a wide selection of unique cocktails and tasty meals. The bibimbap was delicious, Truffle Japache was tasty but a bit oily. I definitely recommend the coconut cake for dessert. Everything came out pretty quickly after ordering and somehow managed to fit on our table. I'm giving 3 stars as a glass was dropped on me by a server, leaving shards of glass in my seat. Accidents happen and I'm glad I was not cut by the glass but it did not feel safe and was probably due to everything being so tightly packed. Not sure I will return.

Yelp
Mono Mono has the most unique, one-of-a-kind decorations and vibe of any restaurant I've been too. From giant flower arrangements, pristine behind the bar decorations, floor to ceiling book shelf stocked with records, and conveyor belt in the ceiling with vintage records hanging down, there's nothing that didn't surprise me. There was even a unique smell with fresh flowers at each table and a piano with bouquet decorations next to the live DJ set up. The description of cocktail and appetizer bar is very applicable, as the Kimchi fried rice left me more hungry than I entered, although appetizers including Korean Beef Tartare and Dongchimi Ceviche provided the adventurous pallet allure I was desiring.

Yelp
This restaurant is only good for aesthetics. The interior looks really nice. However the food was just so so. Maybe I ordered the wrong dishes ? I ordered the pork tenderloin which was seasoned a bit too much and there was just so much sauce drenched on top of the pork. The steak was just okay, nothing special. They have to do something about the chairs which are hard and like the ones you see in classrooms. I saw some chairs at other tables that were much nicer. I didn't know until I scanned the QR code for the menu that they only accept cash or Amex, but usually not everyone has Amex. We told the server we only had Visa and when it looked like we were going to leave, she said she would confirm and came back and said they accept Visa.... So then why are they saying they don't ?

Yelp
this place is out of a fantasy book, decorated beautifully and super romantic. the space had a lot of flowers and antique books and made me feel like I was on a set in a movie. with that, this place def has more of a vibe for couples than groups of people. the food was delish!! the chicken was fried to perfection with delicious sauce (soy garlic or spicy). the potato wedges were good as well, with three different dipping sauces. the truffle japchae was good, a unique dish but wasn't the star of the show. the artichokes were ok, a bit too oily for my liking. overall, this place is solid and the prices weren't too bad. would recommend for a date night!

Yelp
We had a lovely wintertime experience at Mono+Mono. The holiday decorations were absolutely beautiful. This place makes you want to snuggle in with a warm blanket, sip a cocktail, nosh on delicious food and relax. We had a very friendly hostess who sat us promptly at our reservation time. We were immediately provided water, one of my most favorite attributes when dining out, and quickly met by our server. At first it felt rushed as he was very quick about drinks and ordering but as time went, I think he was simply being efficient. The food was fabulous. Yes- order the wings!! Sounds crazy but these might be some of the best I've ever had. My only disappointment is I wish we would have tried more dishes. Guess that's what next time is for :) Put this place on your list. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
My friends and I visited this restaurant on a Wednesday evening, and overall, we had a pleasant experience. The ambiance was lovely, with tasteful decor that added to the charm. Although our larger party was accommodated, the seating was a bit snug but still comfortable enough. What we ordered: * Korean Beef Tartare (Yukhoe) * Strip Steak * Bulgogi Kimchi Fried Rice * Baby Artichoke with Garlic Aioli The standout dishes for me were the Korean beef tartare and the strip steak. The steak was cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and paired beautifully with its side dishes. The yukhoe was another highlight, beautifully garnished and balanced with vegetables and a sauce that brought the dish together harmoniously. The bulgogi kimchi fried rice was good, but it didn't particularly stand out compared to similar dishes I've had elsewhere at a lower price point. As for the baby artichoke, it was just okay--nothing remarkable in flavor. The overall experience was enjoyable, especially for the ambiance and service.

Yelp
Cute restaurant with beautiful decor. Love the wall seating that looks like you're sitting in a library. The staff were friendly and came to check up on us a couple times through the night. My favourite dish was the japchae - it was nicely flavored and loved the mushrooms in the dish. The kimchi fried rice wasn't spicy but a bit oily for my personal preference. The wings were delicious but we couldn't tell what the sauce was and it was a bit too liquid. I really liked the White Peach Bellini cocktail so I would recommend!

Yelp
What an incredible find! Happy Hour starts at noon! The interior is filled with a mix of art, wooden furniture, and plants galore. Get whisked away for a few hours to another world. We enjoyed the chicken wings, fries, the Korean pancakes, the oysters, Kim chi fried rice, and pretty much everything on the menu! They also have a cafe menu so grab an iced matcha latte while you're here too!

Yelp
My overall rating for this highly anticipated restaurant was 3.5 stars. We were a party of 3 for Saturday dinner at 5:15. They let you know that you have an hour and 45 minutes until they need the table back. You MUST bring cash or AMEX card only!!!! I completely missed this. You see it on the menu page. They have an atm inside for you to take out cash for a fee. We were seated right by the entrance leading towards the kitchen/restrooms. It was honestly the worst seats in this beautiful restaurant. Not only that their table is small. We barely fit all of our foods and drinks on the table. Very cramped! It was uncomfortable. While we were eating, they decided to mop the hallway floor with clorox right by us. Perhaps there was a spill while delivering food. I am not sure, but it stanched so badly that it ruined my dining experience. I was inhaling cleaning supply while eating their delicious food. The other thing was a man (worker/owner) decided to climb up on a giant pot of flowers and add some flowers to it while people are dining around. Then he proceeded to spray water or whatever is in his bottle at the plants right by us and the customers near. Like what is going on here??? The other odd part was our drinks came much later than the food. The waiter that sat us and took our orders disappeared at some point so we had to ask bus boys/other workers in black to give us more water, utensils, and drinks. More than halfway into our meal we got another waiter who introduced himself and said he was taking over. The second waiter was excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious: Baechu Jeon, bbim bbim bap, soy and garlic sauced chicken wings and braised beef ribs. Our cocktails were also great. The kitchen staff & the bartenders are cooking amazing food and making great cocktails. However, the hostess/waiters team needs to do a better job here (except the second waiter) we had. The hostess never had a smile nor friendly greeting. Maybe I came at a bad time or maybe it's like this all the time. But the service needs to be consistent and well delivered. It needs to match their delicious dishes & drinks.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant + delicious food + ideal location to start the night = MONO + MONO Went for a girls night and the server made the Birthday dessert so special by tossing rose petals like confetti! Pro tip! Go family styled here, so much to try!
google avatar

Xiao O.

Yelp
I came here for my birthday brunch and everything was absolutely delicious. I've been craving to come back ever since! The galbi was so tender and paired perfectly with the rice cake and mashed potatoes. The japchae was on point, and the kimchi fried rice was full of flavor with a perfectly cooked egg on top. The fried chicken was crispy and beautiful, but it didn't have enough flavor for me--could've used more soy garlic. The espresso martini was fantastic, and while the tiramisu was just okay, the coconut cake was divine. It was creamy, sweet, moist, and just so good. Mono Mono also doubles as a floral shop, adding to its unique charm. The vinyl jazz vibe is a lovely touch and really enhances the atmosphere. Service was decent. I love the food so much and can't wait to return!

Yelp
The atmosphere and space here is just gorgeous. It's filled with records and florals throughout the dim-lit, rustic space. If you're on a date, there's a couple tables tucked along the wall within a book surrounded by vinyl records. I will say that all the tables are small, so it's a tight space especially if you're ordering a lot of food. We started off with some cocktails and I had the Fig & Ginger Soju ($16), which was delicious. All of their drinks tasted exactly like the ingredients and pretty light on the alcohol. Between the three of us, we shared the Grilled Summer Corn ($7.95), Potato Wedges ($13.95), Baechu Jeon ($13.95), Small 6pcs Mono Wings ($18.95), Truffle Japchae ($22.95), Bibimbap ($18.95) with Beef Bulgogi (+$4). Everything was good and tasty, but the wings and potato wedges stood out the most. You can't go wrong with Korean fried chicken as they're huge pieces, flavorful, and crunchy. I liked that we could get half and half flavors but come for happy hour discount for a real good deal. The wedges seem simple, but they're strategically stacked like jenga and paired with various sauces while sprinkled with parmesan as well. The corn is too simple for what you pay, but pancake is good for sharing too. The entree plates seem almost like appetizers since they're pretty small portions. I like the take of truffle and mushrooms in the japchae while the bibimbap is a classic. Overall, delicious food in a beautiful environment. I'd love to come back for happy hour for their $2 mono wings though. Great spot for any occasion!

Yelp
Honestly, I can't believe this restaurant was so empty when we went! The food was amazing, everything was very flavourful and the right flavours all came through. I especially loved how soft the galbi was. The vibes in the restaurant are also so cool/unique, with a bunch of flowers and records rotating around the ceiling! Such a fun place, would 100% recommend

Yelp
Feels like something out of a retro garden fairytale inside. Great service-some of the waiters tag-teamed tables to make sure everyone was being checked on frequently. I would have a hard time coming here and not ordering the potato wedges & wings. Both excellent. We chose the soy garlic wings-flavor was not overwhelming. We both loved the kimchi fried rice as well. Can pay extra to add fried egg on top.

Yelp
I came here with a group of 4 this past Friday for a friend's birthday dinner! The service here was good! Food came out quick. Interior design is a vibe! mono chicken wings (half and half) - amazing, crispy, and def worth it! truffle japchae - fav dish, really good and smells even better beef tartare - decent! galbi jjim - decent! the cocktails here were very very good. your typical beloved cocktails with soju integrated, it worked really well! they also had a dj playing music throughout the whole night - which was really loud to a point where we couldn't hear each other in conversation, granted we were seated right by the speakers/dj, I'm sure the noise level is different in other places of the restaurant. i would say that is my only complaint here.

Yelp
I've been to Mono + Mono a few times and I always love coming here. I tend to go during the week so I always miss the crowds. It's a beautiful restaurant and you can definitely appreciate it more during the off hours. For drinks, I always order the espresso martini. It's well balanced and on the happy hour menu. For food, I tend to go for the bulgogi kimchi fried rice as my entrée. We'll order the mono wings and shishito peppers for the table. I've tried all the desserts at some point and the coconut cake is my favourite. The portions are large considering the price point. They have vegetarian and gluten free options. Be prepared to pay with either cash or Amex.

Yelp
Service is a bit slow and the seating isn't as comfortable as it's pretty tight and there are no bag hooks. All three of us had to try our best to get someone's attention to get some water and our orders in. Shishito Peppers + Okra was well seasoned and textured. We finished it up before all the other dishes came out. Kimchi Fried Rice was actually pretty fire; as a Korean myself I don't really order dishes I think I can make at home but this was pretty unique and so tasty. Recommend getting that fried egg on top! Still Cash or Amex only!!

Yelp
Ambiance was amazing the service for happy hour was not the best but once dinner service started the atmosphere changed and the wings were to die for so crispy and delicious and the oyster .

Yelp
Beautifully decorated for sure. Unfortunately not worth the hype it gets for vegetarians. The bibimbap is intentionally served cold which is quite unpleasant. We also had to wait 10 min for our table outside even though we had a reservation. The only positive about the meal was the truffle japchae.

Yelp
Mono Mono has an incredible ambience inside, beautiful plants, lighting, and rotating record display. I watched a server trim and rearrange various plants for probably 30 minutes straight. We managed to snag a high top table nestled among the vinyl collection, which was adorable. Only tried the Truffle Japchae and potato wedges but both were delightful. Service was average, there seemed to be some sort of miscommunication between servers, but overall this did not detract from the dining experience. Would love to come back.

Yelp
AMEX or cash only. Cons: - When you're a party of three, they seat you at party of two table and throw in that extra chair. Guess they need to keep the other tables opened. It was uncomfortable because the tables were so small, it was very difficult to fit our entrees, apps, drinks and all the other stuff they had on that mini table. Not sure why they decided to bring the entrees out the same time as our appetizer. The least they could've done was give us a bigger table if that's how they'll serve. - Difficult to get our waiter, or any of the servers attention for that matter. - AMEX and cash only (yes, im mentioning this again). Pros: - wings were on point! crispy on the outside, juicy inside. - galbi was ok. there was a piece that was dry and rock hard. only piece left on the plate. - plenty of chicken amongst other goodies in the congee. - bibimbap, also plenty of ingredients as well. $2 extra for the egg, $4 for bulgogi. Not sure what the hype is with the interior setting. It's OKK. Overall, it's neat to check it out, but I would not return.

Yelp
The ambiance here is excellent (dark, interesting aesthetics with floating vinyl records above the tables surrounded by books) but the food falls a bit short. In a city with so many great Korean options I struggled to be impressed by the flavors. Our galbi jjim was a bit dry, although the chicken porridge was excellent. The Mono Wings (half soy garlic / half spicy) were juicy, but lacked the flavor profile of even fast casual places like Bonchon.

Yelp
Ambiance of love. Someone put a lot into creating this very unique space. On this August night it was relatively cool and the front of the restaurant was open enhancing a great atmosphere. Great cocktails and good food. Service was prompt albeit a little impersonal. AMEX and cash only. They do have an ATM. They should tell you this when you sit down. This is a big no no these days.

Yelp
The vibes here were immaculate. It was giving club dark academia vibes, perfect for Friday night. They offer a variety of soju based cocktails and have a pretty large menu as well. We ordered a couple appetizers from artichokes to sushi and a couple entrées as well such as the steak, the truffle noodle dish and the kimchi fried rice. My favorites were a truffle noodle dish and the kimchi fried rice. I would come here again.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant decorated with a million flowers and jazz records. Terrific Korean cuisine. The beef stew was flavorful and hearty. The fried chicken hand roll was an explosion of flavor. Gotta try the fried chicken too. Highly recommend

Yelp
This is my friend's favorite spot and she wanted to bring me. I loved it!! What a vibe in there. It's really sexy in there and also has a garden feel. They even have hydrangeas and lavender for sale. There's one area of seatings that literally has plants all over the place. It's very pretty! And then the other side is decorated with vinyls, very cool! We started with some drinks. The ricewine sangria was delicious - I had a couple. Almost like juice! We shared a bunch of things. Artichoke, potato wedges, tartare, truffle japchae, and the Korean chicken wings. Everything was really good. The truffle japchae really stood out for me, wish we had more. And the fried chicken was amazing.... I'm a fan of the soy garlic. We had a great time. Everything was amazing! Definitely want to come back.

Yelp
If you want to impress people or have a very nice dinner, then this is DA SPOT! The vibes, decor, service, cleanliness and atmosphere really shoots this up to a 4.5 rounded to 5. It's the type of place you come in and say WOW, you won't see another place like it. It can be a bit compacted so definitely get a reservation and if you are doing a night for two, highly recommend the section by the records as they operate similar to booths. I originally came here with a large group to celebrate my friend's birthday. Luckily that meant we got to try quite a selection of food. Food Bangers for me were the Baechu Jeon - Which is a korean pancake that is cooked to this crispy savory delight. They serve sauce on the side that pairs well. The Chicken wings are a classic and is a recommendation. Definitely above average compared to other k-wings, especially if you love them saucy. I was a bit disappointed in the Jujube tenderloins though. For 35 bucks, it was overcooked and to me seemed like the other entrees were better. Overall food is solid but not mind-blowing. The place is a solid 4.5 rounded to 5 because it doesn't feel like a 4. Interior and cleanliness are top notch. Service is great and for a birthday person they give flowers :). Give it a try
