Become the hero of your own story. (That's the meaning, sort of, of the name.) Patronize a local business employing locals. Talk to friendly Texans who know their coffee craft. Buy a mug with their logo because you can call it Orion all you want, I see Sagittarius--MY archer. I travel the country and visit all sorts of coffee places, and this one is authentic, has character, and gives you a lovely latte (did not try regular coffee this time.)
Wandered over from the Overton Hotel on foot. Nice walk from campus I'm sure. I tried the maple bourbon latte, it was lovely to look at with latte art, and lovely to drink with a nice balance, not too sweet and still espresso-forward. I asked, and all drinks come with at least two shots. They sell pastries which looked delish-next time. Crisp, clean white paint on all surfaces has refreshed this small home into a bright workspace. (I guess where it never snows, you cannot go too white!) There are numerous chairs and tables to accommodate many guests. I chose a seat at the window bar to watch the street traffic and was thrilled to find the former brick porch wall as my footrest! It appears they only have a single restroom, but it is gender-neutral, large and accessible, and has a changing table. So glad to see this sort of space in Lubbock. I'll be back next time I am in town.
