Greektown Casino’s Monroe Market and Noodle Art Restaurant Open on May 1 - Eater Detroit

"Monroe Market is a newly renovated food hall-style dining space within Detroit's Greektown Casino-Hotel. It features six fast-casual dining counters and a 280-square-foot 'living wall' with a video screen. Patrons can order, customize, and pay for their food using touch-screen kiosks or a cell phone app. The venue offers a variety of food options, including fried chicken, gelato, and barbecue brisket." - Brenna Houck

We went to the taco place which was fantastic. Very cheap as well. You can grab a soda drink for free in the casino and bring it over, reduce the price of your meal greatly. The tacos were very good. Employees were great, no issues.

Pretty disappointed, I came here to take my lunch break from work and grab a bite. Unfortunately, I was turned away from the food court as I carried my work bag with me. I wish this place were more welcoming to people working in the area.

The first time we were at the market it was pretty good, had bbq, shrimp, chicken and the lemon ches pie was very good. Today we were there and they had no shrimp on the menu so we had burgers and fries, burgers were good but the fries were limp and not very good. Then we had some lemon ches pie and crust was so soggy, I was really disappointed because of the price and had purchased 4 slices so there went my comps. I sure hope the next time we are there and eat at the market it is better, if not we will eat elsewhere. Greektown is my favorite casino so I sure hope it gets better.

Try the cardiac burger, served in a glazed donut. The price is a little steep, but for downtown Detroit not too bad. The selection in the market is good—BBQ chicken from the pit is good value and the sauce selection while limited, are all good.

Everywhere but the chicken spot is good. I waited 45 minutes for four pieces of chicken... And never got it because there was still at least 5 people ahead of me waiting! It's terribly understaffed for the amount of people who want their food. I ended up not eating and getting my money back! Oh this was on a Wednesday mid day!

I have ordered food from every restaurant in the district. Slow service, bad attitudes are the regular. I HONESTLY can't believe the way Greektown allows their employees to treat customers. I am a VIP member of all 3 Detroit casinos and Windsor. I only bring myself to greektown to use a few free hotel nights or meet my friend (for whatever reason loves greektown)

Perfect place to enjoy. Staff is always ready and willing to get you going with anything you need.

The service is horrible. This is the reason I won’t be back to eat here or ever stay at Greek town again. Evelyn was completely unhelpful along with the rest of her staff. And of course no manager can be found. Do your self a favor and go somewhere else

Yelp
I've tried everything they have to offer so far with the exception of the BBQ joint. I saw a billboard last night that said "....AMAZING new places to eat..." when referring to Monroe Market which reminded me to write a review. I have to say that there's absolutely nothing "AMAZING" about each outlet I've tried here. I had the highest hopes for the ramen place but it was the biggest disappointment. The pizza is probably the best choice followed by the burgers. We've always used comps to pay, so while the food is priced higher because it's in a casino, it's offset by the fact that the comps cover it anyway. In short, if you're looking to eat hear during a casino visit I'd recommend trying the pizza or burgers first. If you like those, you can probably move on to the rest. If you don't, just stop there and find somewhere else to eat before or after the casino.

Yelp
First time here wanted something quick before going to Red Wings game. Looked around at some different choices and came around to Tia Loca a really good Mexican place. I had the bowl which came with the choice of rices, meats, salsas and vegetables. I had the cilantro rice, spiced chicken, corn salsa, green onion, lettuce and sour cream it was very good not overly spicy. The ladies working there were really friendly and helpful. The only kicker was Pepsi product, not a fan. I would go back and try something different off the menu. It was a nice quick option on a very rainy day.

Yelp
There is a bakery in the market area. There are a few restaurants besides this bakery. Wowza. If you like pastries this is a dream come true! They have different types of coffee and so many selections of pastries. My favorite was the almond croissant. I bought 6 just to take home. They have a good selection of cookies too. This Bakery is in the Greektown Casino. As you leave the hotel and on your way (through the walkway) There is Monroe Market. That is where you will find this amazing bakery. We also ate at the pizza place in the Market. My husband said the pizza was delicious. It was also huge. I had a turkey sandwich and if you see my picture you will see I'm holding only half of it. It was delish.

Yelp
Pit Boss brisket is very tough and fatty. Lack of flavor. No way this was smoked 19 hours. Ribs were good. ( I had the $22 something combo) Will not be going back.

Yelp
My hubby and i went to Wings game and got delayed in traffic so ended up near Greektown Casino. Went in to their Market place to see what was at casino for dinner and found Tia Loca for dinner. Surprisingly good. They had a nice blend of different type foods. This beats Chiptole Grill hands down. The seasonings were not too hot but really good flavor. Nice options too.

Yelp
After a not so lucky visit to the casino, we decided to try our luck at the Monroe Market food court. On our first visit we decided to try American Burger Bar and Southern fry. I ordered a burger that is kind of like a Big Mac and my husband got the two piece fried chicken with their coleslaw, macaroni & cheese and a biscuit. We divided the meals in half and shared them. I'll start with the bad news. The chicken was okay but it was a bit salty. for either of our tastes. I believe they must use some kind of brine where it had to have bewn left too long. I love coleslaw but when I tasted what came with the meal, I left it on the table. My husband who loves biscuits ate a bite or two, with the honey that was provided ,but didn't finish it either. Can you guess what happened with the mac and cheese? If you guessed that we didn't finish it you're a winner! Ding! Ding! Ding! Who doesn't finish macaroni & cheese? In this case us. It was bland. I mean really bland. Okay, now American Burger Bar. My husband considers himself some what of a burger connoisseur. With that said, he thought it was pretty good. I thought it was a freakin' great burger. Even with the same flavor combinations, it doesn't really taste like a Big Mac, but it stands on its own. The veggies were crisp and fresh. The burger, which has three patties, was juicy and perfectly seasoned. I'd order this again. On the next visit, we tried the Pit Boss station. We got the three meat plate. We chose the brisket, ribs and sausage. When we saw the sausage, it looked pale. So we swapped it for chicken. Just like the plate our feelings are a combo. The brisket was tasty, but we received portions that had been on the cutting board far too long. One piece was mostly fat and the other was a little dry from sitting. Because they weigh the meat portion, there was very little brisket to try, as you only get three strips to start. The ribs were also okay but we didn't care for the sauce. Happily, it was on the side. The Burnt End BBQ baked beans were super dry. It was because we received the very last of the pan. After our portion, the pans were switched out. There was also not one single piece of burnt end in the entire serving! I really likereally baked beans and this broke my heart. With all that said the smoked chicken saved the day! It was absolutely yummy! It was flavorful and at this point much more than I expected! I would visit again just for that chicken. On our last visit, we tried the Basil Leaf Pizza Station. We ordered the meat lovers, because we don't care for Italian sausage we selected to delete it and asked if it could be substituted for extra of one of the other toppings. We were politely informed that you could subtract items, but no substitutions could be made. Hmmmm....ok then. I am Pizza addict. I was still excited to try what I knew was going to be delicious hand-tossed, thin crust pizza with a crisp bottom crust and a top crust with that great bit of chewiness. Well maybe next time. Unfortunately, The pizza we received was really undercooked and doughy, with a squishy bottom crust that was simply a hot mess. I would have taken it back for extra cooking but unfortunately, I got it to go. You can see how pale the dough is in the photo. I don't really think I would try this again, though I'm sure it's better when cooked properly. So all in all, the total experience was very middle of the road. I will probably try Tia Loco because for some reason I've had this burrito thing going on. Maybe if I get lucky at the casino, I'll try one of the $3 cookies at Josephine Bakery. You have to love that name!

Yelp
We are staying at the hotel and grabbed iced coffees and a cookie from Josephine Bakery to take back up to our room. I loved the coffee from Great Lakes roasters. So delicious!

Yelp
The burgers at American Burger Bar are probably some of the best burgers that I have ever had. I think they won an award for them at some competition over the summer.

Yelp
It's hard to rate this accurately because there are several restaurant choices in the Market District. The Mexican place is decent, but this review pertains to the Pit Boss barbecue stand. I decided to try this in lieu of Red Smoke Barbecue across the street. I will not be back to Pit Boss. I ordered the beef brisket with a side of kettle chips and a drink. $16. They had two briskets and the worker cut thin slices from a small brisket and a large one. The small one seemed near the end of it's usefulness and the large one was new. So half of my meal had crispy edges around it and seemed kind of tough. The other half was much more tender but each bite had too much fat. This was the worst brisket I've ever had and not worth the money. The chips were not as fresh as you'd expect for the money and not very flavorful. I'd recommend you go downstairs, cross the street, and eat at Red Smoke BBQ.

Yelp
The food at Pit Boss was simply amazing! The reason for my low score is due to Cherokee, the name of the cashier on my receipt. When I went to the window to pick up my order, the very nice people accidentally threw away my receipt. Since I'm here on business, its imperative that I keep my receipt. When I asked for a duplicate copy, the young man had to go find a manager. The manager had to go to the cashier in the dessert section. After she put the order in incorrectly to duplicate my receipt, she had the nastiest attitude when I explained to her that I needed the receipt to match exactly how I paid with my credit card. If you want good food, come here. If you want good customer service, go somewhere else!!
