MONSIEUR DIDOT (Athens, Greece) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The proprietors of Monsieur Didot rightly call it a residence, rather than a hotel; this elegant neoclassical townhouse in the heart of Athens is more like an aristocratic pied-à-terre than anything else. And its French name is as clear a sign as any that this is no ordinary lodging; it’s inspired by, and named for, the type designer Firmin Didot." - Tablet Hotels

Monsieur Didot | Best places to stay in Athens

"An 1890’s neo-classical gem named after the Frenchman who created the first Greek font, Mr Didot is an atmospheric place to stay, giving a glimpse of fin-de-siecle Athenian life. The hotel is also apocryphally whispered to have been the secret residence of John & Yoko’s during their trip to Athens in 1969. Its six spacious, high-ceilinged rooms, connected by corridors and spiral staircases, sport parquet floors and coloured window grills on tiny balconies just wide enough for a small chair. This is a charming small hotel, ideal for couples or those that want to stay somewhere with individual, Athenian character. It’s also a great base for sightseeing, with the Parthenon a fifteen-minute walk, and Panepistimio metro station almost on the doorstep. " - John Malathronas

Had a great stay at MD in July. Great little boutique hotel that feels a little like being in a residence. We stayed 2 nights in room 1, which has an entrance to the street to a charming courtyard with a nice old woman who sells ice cream, beer, water, etc. Very convenient. This was a memorable stay and we will surely come back to MD.

Had a delightful stay at Monsieur Didot last week. My family rented out 3 rooms on the second floor. They were each unique, luxurious, and beautifully appointed. The location is perfect for restaurants, shops, and the active nightlife in Athens. Highly recommend, and hope to visit again soon!

Beautiful boutique hotel in Athens. Perfect to spend a few days. Room has al you need and more; very comfy and with tons of amenities - perfect to recover after a long flight. Products in the room are good quality. What stands out is definitively the breakfast; pick and choose from an a la carte menu and the lovely staff will prepare it for you the next day. 200% recommend.

High design rooms with an extremely accommodating and friendly staff. We also loved the location, perfectly placed in the middle of the city on a relatively quiet street between a crunchy artists’ neighborhood on one side and high end shopping on the other. This was our favorite hotel of our entire trip!

What a fabulous surprise! This little boutique hotel is in a quiet and rich side of Athens not far from the centre and tourist area. The room with the balcony was perfect for sunbathing and having the delicious breakfast served to your room every morning. Attention to detail and everything you need is in the room. Thank you to Natasha and the team for making it so perfect. Coming back soon!

My boyfriend and I stayed 4 nights at Monsieur Didot, and it was wonderful. We loved the 'homey' feel and decor. The service was incredible, and the staff was so helpful. The room was very clean and quiet. We loved the rooftop area for having our morning coffee and a nightcap. Monsieur Didot is far enough from the city that it is not too loud but close enough to walk to everything you want to visit. We have recommended Monsieur Didot to all of our family and friends who plan to visit Athens!

We stayed here for two nights super stylish and super friendly and helpful staff who make the place.Centrally located a 15 minute walk into the centre.I’ve given four stars as the room on the ground floor was noisy with people walking past talking constantly and next door’s room had their tv on full blast at 6.30am difficult to sleep.Apart from this everything else was faultless.I would recommend a higher room to avoid this.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights and Monsieur Didot. Located within walking distance of most of the sites- but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. We booked "The Tale"- a small suite, with separate living room (sofa turns into single bed)- beautifully decorated, with all we would need. We also had the benefit of our own entrance. Breakfast was delivered promptly to the room every morning- the orange juice was a solid 10/10. We enjoyed an evening drink on the (tiny) roof terrace, and explored much of this funky area. We hope to return on our next Athens trip.
