Absolutely Excellent! Food was authentic, creatively seasoned , waiter suggested garlic naan on the side which was the best I ever had. Keep your spice level to "2" because it's spicy but in a good way! Restaurant was very clean, staff very helpful and friendly. Loved everything except the 'elevator music '-wish they had music from their culture. Overall very impressed!

Went there and it happened to be restaurant week. Ordered the prefixed menu. Got the food with medium spiciness. Everything was delicious and savory; highly recommend this place. Great service as well.

As a 1st time guest, my experience was exceptional. Having Indian food for the 1st time was enjoyable. My spice level was 2 and it was bearable. The ambiance was serene and relaxed. Pleasant staff, fresh food, well seasoned, fast service and the wait time wasn't long at all. The lamb chops were a hit👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Its been a few weeks since I went to this place, but it was fantastic. The food was amazing and the service was phenomenal. They are doing renovations so it appears as though you shouldn't go in, but you most certainly should. I am normally not a huge indian food fan, but I would absolutely come back again.

Delicious Indian food. The garlic Naan bread ,lamb Tikamasal. Lamb Kebab and seafood Kebab were all delicious. Also, the Shrimp Bryani, Fried chicken were 😋 yummy. Excellent customer service, clean, excellent atmosphere for families or couples.

The food here is really good—freshly made and full of flavor. The restaurant itself is nice and clean. They do take a bit more time than average to serve, but it's worth the wait. As a nice touch, they even gave us complimentary ice cream. Overall, a great experience!

Very nice atmosphere, but still very casual. We each got a lassi and since it was our first visit we got some of our go to items to try for appetizers, crispy samosa chat and aloo paratha. We also tried the cauliflower and ginger soup (the soup was the only item we didn't love it wasn't bad, just compared to everything else it wasn't as flavorful). I tried the garlic paneer tikka masala and he had the Patiala Shahi Goat. We both enjoyed our choices. I also have to add I don't usually eat any rice with my dishes because I'm generally not a fan but the rice they brought out was really good. I tried some just to say I tried it and ended up having several spoonfuls with my meal. We'll definitely visit again. Service was on point and overall it was a great experience.

While on a business trip, I was craving some Indian food close to my hotel and stumbled upon Monsoon’s, located in a business section of Providence. The moment I walked in, I was struck by the upscale ambiance—it had a modern yet authentic Indian feel. The service here is excellent. I noticed a team-based approach where multiple staff members refilled my iced tea and water without me ever needing to ask. They were attentive without being overbearing, which I really appreciated. I started with the tandoori wings, and they were both visually impressive and flavorful—great way to kick off the meal! I also ordered garlic naan, and for the main course, I went with Chicken Tikka Masala (medium spice). The dish had just the right amount of heat to it! The presentation was fairly standard, but I liked how they served the rice and chicken separately, letting me control how much masala sauce I used. Overall, it was a delicious meal and a great experience. I’ll definitely be returning to Monsoon’s the next time I’m in town!

Yelp
A Sensory Delight at Monsoon Eclectic Modern Indian Restaurant My close girlfriend and I finally made it to Monsoon Eclectic Modern Indian Restaurant for lunch on June 29, 2025--a visit we had been planning for about a month. We were looking for something quiet, tasteful, peaceful, and of course, delicious. This place did not disappoint. Although the restaurant is currently undergoing renovations (you have to enter through a side door instead of the front), the moment we stepped inside, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The service was outstanding from the beginning: water was poured, menus were handed out, and we were given time to settle in and decide. We started with the variety of chutneys appetizer, which came with five or six types of chutney paired with garlic naan. There was a mango chutney, a lemony citrus one, a green chutney, a deep red pickled chutney (which was my favorite), and a dark tamarind-like chutney, along with a cool cucumber yogurt sauce. The chutneys were flavorful and the naan was perfectly warm and chewy. My girlfriend ordered from the lunch menu, choosing the lamb tikka masala, which came with basmati rice, garlic naan, and her choice of soup or salad--she chose the soup. She also enjoyed a glass of wine. She rated her meal 10 out of 10, saying the lamb was tender, juicy, and absolutely delicious. I usually order butter chicken (my all-time favorite), but this time I stepped out of my comfort zone and went with a seafood stir fry dish--and I'm so glad I did. It featured salmon, crab meat, jumbo shrimp, and moist scallops, all seasoned with nuts, spices, and served over basmati rice. The colors were vibrant, the aroma was heavenly, and the taste was next level. Every bite had my taste buds doing backflips. I had plenty of leftovers--enough for two or three more meals. The waiter who recommended the dish was extremely helpful and encouraging--I'm thankful for that push! All of the staff were kind, polite, knowledgeable, and attentive. Even though they're renovating, you can already see that the decor is top tier. The flooring alone was mesmerizing before the remodel, so I can only imagine how stunning it'll be when it's complete. It's a great spot for any occasion--a quiet lunch, a dinner date, a birthday party, or even a business meeting. I've been to many Indian restaurants in the Hampton Roads area and beyond, and this one is easily among the best. Monsoon truly lives up to its name--eclectic, modern, and unforgettable. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine or just looking to try something new, do yourself a favor and come here. You won't be disappointed. If I could rate it higher than a 10, I would. This place gets a 100 from me.

Yelp
Monsoon is my favorite Indian restaurant by far! They have the very best chicken korma I've ever had and are very accommodating by adding no nuts to it so that I can have it because I'm allergic. The servers are very attentive, and the server assistants always keep your water full. Everyone is very polite and friendly and the atmosphere is calm but not too quiet. There's light music playing in the background. The kitchen staff always remains very appropriate and professional, especially since there's an open kitchen that's so important. I could eat their chicken korma every single day and so could the rest of my family lol! The prices are great too, and you get plenty of food. I drive an hour to get there and it

Yelp
Some renovation going on so we were worried when we arrived. But our party of 10 received excellent service, friendly staff, amazing food. Will definitely be returning!

Yelp
I went for restaurant week and opted for the $35 pre fixe menu. I told the waiter it was my first time trying Indian food and he had excellent recommendations. Food was delicious and filling. Be prepared for some spice. I sat at the bar which was a nice option. It was clean and quiet. I will definitely go back.

Yelp
I ordered delivery today because I was visiting my mom and just got into town and didn't want to go out. Let me tell you, there is a reason this restaurant is still thriving and one reason is their Scallop dishes. Whether you dine in or have delivery, their scallops are a heads and shoulders above the rest of the restaurants I have visited in the area and up in New England! Taste, flavor, size and cooked to perfection! Definitely Happy with my delivery today. It got the spot!

Yelp
We had chicken tikka masala lunch, which came with a salad, rice, and naan (a choice between regular and garlic). The lunch serving was even big enough for me to have leftovers for tomorrow! The servers were fast and friendly and the decor was fun!

Yelp
I don't know much about this area, and a friend showed me Monsoon. I was pleased that it is Indian since I love Indian food. I got the lunch special of salad, saag and naan and washed it all down with a Prosecco. He got wings and samosas. Mine was delicious. Loved every bite and everything was well-portioned. Great service. Nice ambiance. Convenient corner restaurant in Peninsula Town Center of Hampton. I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
Amazing Indian consistently since 2013. My favorite place to go. Service is great. Food is awesome. Good lunch prices.

Yelp
I went here for Restaurant Week. The food was good as was the service. I had the vegetable pakora, which is a fritter fried in lentil flour. It was tasty. I tried the chicken curry...first time having it and I was pleased. The flavors were simple, yet hearty and good. They have booths and tables so the ambiance works for date night, dinner with the family, and grabbing a bit with friends. For dessert, I had the gajar halwa, which is like a carrot pudding...very tasty! My friend had the gulab jamun, which were fried pastry balls (think donut holes in a honey syrup).

Yelp
I've been suggested this restaurant a few times and my wife and I finally made it. I don't know why it took us so long to get here! Aniket was our server and he was fantastic. Gave me a wonderful suggestion of Patiala Shahi Goat and it couldn't have been a better suggestion. My wife had the chicken mango with no spicy, because my wife doesn't like spicy. The only thing to make this dish better would be spice. The restaurant was clean, aesthetically pleasing and we can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Really long wait for pick up, overpriced, and not the friendliest service. I wouldn't be eager to come back here the next time I'm in town, but I guess I don't know what other options there are in the area. The food was tasty but small portions for $21.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this restaurant and thought that they would have an amazing butter chicken (my favorite Indian dish) but was sadly let down. Not a very flavorful sauce. My husband had the spicy version and I tried the sauce and was a little bit more flavor but not the rich tomato butter sauce that I prefer. The other food we had was very good. We shared the assorted vegetarian appetizer plate and they were all delicious and came out hot. Very good tamarind sauce. The garlic naan was some of the best I have had locally and the rice was nice and fluffy. I had the chai tea and it was very good. I had never seen it come at any other Indian restaurant with a little biscotti. Cute touch! Service was great and very attentive. Waters were always refilled and they let us know right as we asked for a table that it would be a 45-1 hour wait due to the kitchen being backed up. We were in no rush so we were fine with the wait and appreciated the honesty.

Jaii D.

Yelp
The food is great, but the service is all over the place. This used to be my favorite Indian spot but they have changed. They rush you to order, take the menu super fast, bring the check fast, the waiter took my half drank glass of coke from my hand when i asked for a refill as if they dont have any more cups in the back. Super uncomfortable experience, they also stop doing unlimited rice with your meal, you only get one refill and portions are way smaller now compared to 2yrs ago. Would not recommend this place for date if you want to sit down relax and talk with your date, they will rush you!

Yelp
We have been to a handful of Indian restaurants and while this isn't the best one we've been to, it's still delicious. The service is a bit understaffed, which makes sense for the slower food service. I'd rather not sacrifice quality though, so the wait was alright. We ordered a handful of items; bread basket, cheese stuffed naan, vegetable pakoras, vegetable samosas and then our meals. Two of the three appetizers came out fast. The vegetable pakoras were better than the pakoras at our regular establishment. The naan was a little on the bland side. I prefer the garlic and herb covered naan where it's still slightly greasy from the olive oil and garlic. We had a small hiccup with service. The meals came out and one wasn't ours. No big deal, but it took a while for the actual item to come. After we were just about done eating, the cheese naan came out. Which was not really worth ordering since it's just small pieces of cream cheese inside the bread. The meals were good. A number 3 on the spice scale was just right for someone who likes spicy. 5 would have killed me. The only real complaint about my specific meal was it said it was cream cheese and almond paste chicken, but it just tasted like a grilled chicken. A good grilled chicken, but I guess I expected maybe a creamy sauce or more cheese. It was tasty, but I must have misinterpreted the menu. All of us enjoyed our meals. We could have had the appetizers a bit later since the food took so long, but it gave us time for more talking among the table. The staff did bring water all the time and kept the drinks refilled, so that's a plus. Overall, I would try out other items next time just to see, but the food was good.

Piper W.

Yelp
I made a catering order for a work event, and I was told to let them pack my car with the order. A nice gentleman did so. Ultimately, the main dishes and bread were lovely, but when I returned to work, I discovered that there was no rice. When I called, I was told that it was normal for rice not to come with it. Which, if you've ever had Indian food at a restaurant is...highly unlikely. So, I had to serve all this very (delicious), but liquidy food to my coworkers with no rice. If it's true that catering orders do not come with rice, then it would have been nice if I had been told that up front, so that I could have ordered some.

Yelp
My wife and I finally decide to try Monsoons. Monsoons is a Indian restaurant near the back of Hampton Town center. We we warmly greeted, and seated immediately. My wife ordered the chili chicken appetizer (level 3) and butter chicken. The appetizer arrived relatively quickly . The food was good, hot and spicy!

Yelp
My first time having INDIAN FOOD and what an introduction it was. The restaurant decor was very modern. An the ambiance wS amazing! We weren't sitting on top of another couple. Beautiful intimate setting. The food was sooooo good! EXCELLENT! I can't wait to go back!!

Yelp
This is so far the best Indian food in the Hampton roads area I've had. I went for lunch today and they offer a lunch special which comes with Na'an bread, basmati rice, a main dish and either the soup or salad of the day. I ordered the cauliflower soup which had ginger and some roasted garlic. It was slightly spicy. For this place I would say a 2. Their spice scale is 1-5. I also got the lamb tikka misawa, spice level four. The flapper of the sauce was very good. But the lamb. It was cooked to perfection. The Na'an was amazing as well. I cannot complain about the food flavor and portion was perfect for the lunch special. Decor is very nice and the facilities, including the bathroom are clean. Some of the staff spoke very little English which is fine just be prepared to use body language. My only complaint is the price. My dish only had like 6 or 7 pieces of bite sized meat and the soup was very small. The lunch special was around $15 so it's not bad but I would have expected a little more meat. Overall worth the experience and great food. Service was excellent.

Yelp
I did a late dinner takeout here. I ordered the Butter Chicken (mild - as in not spicy) and Garlic Naan (with just the perfect amount of garlic and herbs). I have tried many Indian places, and honestly, this has been THE BEST butter chicken and garlic naan in the area...Some places make the butter chicken ("mild" as in spicy or has a kick, which I do not like), but here, it is not! Some places make the garlic naan....not garlic enough or there is no garlic...but here just perfect! Butter Chicken 10/10 Garlic Naan 10/10 Recommend here!

Yelp
Best Indian food I've ever had by far! I've tried many other places and the food does not compare!!!!! I do take out from here a lot, but anytime I dine I'd the service odd always as impeccable as the food!
google avatar

Steffie A.

Yelp
I have been here multiple times. The service is always SO SO slow and the food is mediocre. I keep trying to give this place a chance, but I always continuously disappointed by the service.
google avatar

Ara A.

Yelp
Haven't been here in years ... the flavor is still very good but the prices have gone up by 10-15%. Order dinner portion sizes and what I got was alarmingly small. Ordered the goat shai curry, lamb korma, and chicken curry. All dishes were very good but at about $18-$20 a dish I expected more. Not sure if they gave me lunch portions but these prices just aren't sustainable.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything always tastes fresh. Spice level is on point. Professional servers. Appropriate dining music. One of our all time favorites in the area.

Yelp
Monsoon is a great option for Indian cuisine on the Peninsula. I've been here a dozen times or so and the taste and flavor never disappoint. The service today was a very subpar, but knowing it's not always like today, I would certainly eat here again. We stopped in for lunch and they were quite busy with dine-in and take out orders. We browsed the lunch menu, which has great selections and is also reasonably priced. We waited at least 10 minutes to place our order, and my drink arrived sometime after my salad. The salad was simple, but so delicious because of the dressing. My husband had the lentil soup. For the entrees, they arrived about 30 minutes after our order was placed. I had chicken palak (level 1 for spice) and my husband had the Lamb Seekh Kabob (level 2 for spice). It comes with a side of basmati rice and plenty of naan. The food was absolutely delicious! The serving size was plentiful, especially the naan, and the flavor was great. 4 STARS! Great food, but very slow service today. It certainly was not a quick bite to eat, but I'll definitely give them another try.

Nicolas M.

Yelp
Food is superb but the service is not great, prepare to wait a lot. The food is well worth it thought.

Yelp
Lovely ambiance. Staff were intensely attentive and seemed to work together really well to monitor customers' food, drinks and general needs. This was my first Indian restaurant, and I loved it! I had the $25 dinner menu for restaurant week with vegetable pakora, chicken tikka masala & kheer rice pudding. What a great order! Highly recommend, but I didn't love the rice pudding. I ate the entire vegetable pakora and took half my chicken home, where I nibbled for a midnight snack and then ate the rest for brunch the next day. It was just as good. I love the naan bread. Overall, I'm so glad I tried something new for restaurant week. I will be back!

Yelp
This place is phenomenal it has never disappointed. Been coming here for years and would recommend to tourist and locals to try the mixed grill, mixed drinks, and samosas. Always flavorful, staff always courteous, can't wait to go back to Virginia and stop in.

Yelp
very good food, everything tasted amazing ! garlic chili naan was pretty spicy. Ordered online, pretty fast turnaround.

Yelp
This visit was the first time we've been back to Monsoon in 2 years. Initially for this day, we were gonna go to Park Lane Tavern to eat out, but with them being packed and having a long wait on seating, we decided to head here for some Indian cuisines. It was less than packed with probably up to 5 tables being occupied, but for some reason, it took us 5 minutes to have someone come and take our orders. And once they were placed, we waited like over 30 minutes for food to come out. I know lately for restaurants, they have been limited with staff due to the pandemic. Also keep in mind, certain cuisines may take longer to cook. I admit I may be a bit harsh in my assessment and it has been a long time since we dined here. Then, the food came out steaming hot and ready. I ordered the chili chicken dish which is boneless chicken, bell peppers, onions, broccoli, tomatoes and spices (my spice level was a Level 2) and my girlfriend ordered mango chicken along with garlic naan bread for sharing. And of course, a heaping of basmati rice was on hand to go with both our dishes. Hot and a lot of spice to where my mouth was burning and nose running. That's where you know your dish is really good. Even though I thought the chicken was a bit overdone, the meal was really good. And you could use the bread as either for dipping or just go to as a side. Other than the long wait, it was a good night. It definitely won't prohibit us from coming back here at all.
google avatar

Brittany P.

Yelp
So fresh and they never disappoint !!! Everything on the menu is delicious with fresh herbs and seasoning.
google avatar

Yelp
Two stars docked for an extremely slow service and a very long wait for food arrival (40 minutes after order placed!) The restaurant was only about 15-20 percent full and it was well staffed with a good 4-5 servers just walking around, standing and chatting yet the service was very slow. We had to flag down our server for a water refill, napkins, spoons etc. 3 stars for great food so will return for food. Hopefully the service will be better next time around!
google avatar

Nona L.

Yelp
First time at Monsoon Eclectic; it's a beautiful restaurant. We were greeted by the hostess and sat at our table immediately. We ordered our food; it took a minute, but great food takes time, and it was worth the wait. The "Sweet Lassi" is our fave!!! However, I would recommend to the owners to have plastic Tupperware continues for the patrons that order curry dishes. The plastic styrofoam doesn't hold curry well, so most of it was in the bottom of the plastic bag when we got home.
google avatar

Cristian Q.

Yelp
Only been here once for a coworkers going away but it was very good. We had a lot of people and they got all the food out in very reasonable time and everything was good and precise.
google avatar

Chanel T.

Yelp
This is my first time here and I got the Aloo Gobi and chicken biryani. The food tasted good, the biryani also came with vegetables and a whole sliced egg.
google avatar

Wilbur R.

Yelp
This is probably the best Indian food/Middle East food I've had outside of a deployment!! The biryani and masala's are amazing. The flavors hit in EVERY BITE!!! The goat biryanis (which is what I ordered) was outta this world good. So good I could slap someone else's mama. I will say, get the boneless version because some of the bones are super tiny and sharp and no one wants to choke on those. In serving size to price portions, it's a good balance I think. One plate was enough for lunch and dinner which costs about $20+tax. The food service was okay, we went on a Friday during lunch BEFORE the rush and it took make 30min to receive my order. Was it worth it? Ask me again AFTER a second visit and a different order because I will be back. The eating area was pretty clean and modern which is a good eye-catcher, but their bathrooms looked pretty beat up. It almost looked like they upgraded the eating area but not the bathroom. I hope their not hiding anything in the kitchen. But I will be back for another visit to taste more foods.
google avatar

Steve C.

Yelp
Delicious food! My favorite is the lamb korma. Large portion sizes and so flavorful! This is my go to for Indian in the area by far.

Traci H.

Yelp
Very good! The staff basically walks in a circle around the dinning room non stop it seems. Yet they are very friendly and the food is amazing. A bit on the pricey side but a great selection to choose from with a variety of heat levels.
google avatar

Sean T.

Yelp
I was hesitant and skeptical when I saw "modern" as generally, I prefer traditional foods when it comes to cultural cuisines. The tandoori chicken and homemade ras malai made the difference for me. Even better, I received extra pieces of the dessert due to an error in not receiving them on my first visit. The salmon curry and shrimp masala were fresh and equally delish, but I prefer chicken or veg primarily and the garlic naan was a home run

Yelp
Went here for dinner in a Saturday night. Lots of staff present & ready to go. We got there and they did say there was a little wait but it wasn't that bad. We ordered a bottle of wine & the appetizer came out in about 15-20 minutes. The chat was absolutely delightful. The spices and flavors were all there! The dinner (butter chicken & rogan Josh) were absolutely amazing. There was a great distinction between the two flavors and they were not greasy or cream based. They were busy with takeout and people coming in to dine. Got fairly busy. Pleasantly surprised with the flavors and finding a great indian restaurant after moving to the area. Don't sleep on this place if you're any good food & flavors!

Yelp
After living in the area for three years I finally tried Monsoon out during a work lunch. We came here on a weekday afternoon with a reservation and were able seated at a long table. The inside of Monsoon is very nice and modern with nice art and décor on the walls. We were able to put in our orders and although there was a few mix ups, the staff did a decent job in accommodating everyone. Points lost because two orders was completely wrong. I ordered the panner tikka masala lunch special which came with my choice of soup or salad. I went with the salad and was disappointed with how tiny it was. It was tasty though. The tikka masala was really delicious with plenty of spice to compliment the panner. The naan was also very tasty and I loved eating it with the curry. Overall the atmosphere and food were quite good but this place is a tad pricey.

Yelp
Amazing food! Pricey of course but delicious and authentic Indian dishes. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Went here on a stormy Friday after work to meet up with my roommate from college. Hadn't seen her in years, and it turns out she is now Vegan. We picked this restaurant because it had cuisine to make us both happy. I was impressed with the variety on the menu. I ordered the Lamb stuffed Pakora as an app, and the Lamb Seekh Kabob for my main dish. Words of warning... When they ask what spice level you'd like, start low I responded "on a scale of what to what." she said "one to five." I chose four. I chose wrong (for myself). My friend got the Pakora as well (vegan ones) and a fried cauliflower dish that was amazing (wish I'd ordered it). I gave this place with 3 stars because while I was eating, I bit into a small black stone/pebble. I would have taken a pic, but the server quickly took it away to "show the chef." She came back and tried to convince me that it was a piece of burnt food from the grill. It was not. (It actually made a ping sound and bounced when it hit the plate). My guess was that it may have come from the tandoori oven‍... Either way, I wasn't mad. I just wanted to know what it was and where it came from. If they had just owned it (and apologized) it would have been better - hence the 3 stars. I understand that crap happens, and I really like this restaurant. I will definitely visit again.

Yelp
1st..... there are alot of menu choices. Hard to really decide what you want. I kept it simple. Chicken marsala (sp) the chicken itself tasted bland and unseasoned. The sauce was delicious and the spice at a 4 was still very hot. I will go for a 3 next time. Food was ok. Ambiance was very nice. It was a cool experience. Not great, not bad.

Yelp
Looooooved this place. Reasonable prices and literally the best Indian food I think I've ever had. I love their naan and both sauces in both our chicken dishes were amazing. I only could wish for more sauce since we bought the bread basket we could have used it, and both were so delicious. I loved my Kashmiri chicken, it's creamy and has some fruit so slightly sweet. I would order here again anytime.

Yelp
Holy moly this place is amazing! The ambiance is very nice, perfect for a romantic evening. I had the Garlic Paneer Tikka Masala and it was legit the best I've ever had. I want to bathe in that sauce!!! Service is very friendly. Overall amazing.

Yelp
Our favorite Indian restaurant in the Hampton Roads area. Love the butter chicken! I get the mild and my husband gets his spicy.

Yelp
this place - hands down - should be overflowing with patrons. It is elegant in all aspects, from the calming atmosphere to the way the plates are dressed. The staff is courteous and professional and make the dining experience extremely welcoming. The food itself is incomparable. The only other Indian food I've tried that comes close was in Mallorca, Spain. Yes that's right, if you want anything comparable you will have to travel across the world. Monsoon has no competition in its surrounding area and I will absolutely be coming here again. 10/10 PS. Their spices are no joke, I love spice and even found myself struggling with a 3/5 level spiced dish lol if you do not like spice, just let them know and they will accommodate!
