Let me tell you first that my rating does not reflect food quality. My friends and I wanted to try this cute new ramen place in convoy. Pros: Cheap, affordable, accessible, and staff is attentive. Cons: you get what you pay for. It’s not the best ramen I’ve had, but not the worst. Located in convoy, with so much competition, I guess I’m just picky when it comes to what I like. I would say this place is OK. If you’re looking for Japanese food on a budget, I would recommend this place.

Google
If your looking for an inexpensive and affordable restaurant on San Diego's Convoy Street ( Asian Cultural District) then this is the place for you. Not only are the prices great but the food is delicious especially the curry dishes and their Skewers. The service is great and the servers are very friendly and outgoing. We have dined here twice already and we had a fantastic experience both times.

Google
My new go to place for getting myself a ppatenof Japanese curry, i particularly like their spicy sauce that can be added to your dish of choice, they even sell it too. Lunch special is nice and affordable, but full priced menu items are also reasonable, feel free to come at any time, parking is a pain however. Highly recommend the Monsta lemonade, its actually tart enough to my liking, and pairs well with the curry when spicy sauce is added to it

Google
Super chill and super delicious! I was really surprised at the great prices, especially considering the portion sizes and quality. They get big bonus points from me for filling their ambience with relaxing music as opposed to the usual blaring pop-music that usually gets pumped in to restaurants. A very simple thing, but it really elevated the experience for us!

Google
Quick, casual, and cheap eats. It's good for the price. You can either order with the server or scan the QR code and order online for a more discounted price on certain items. The curry was flavorful with bits of pork. The ramen was good but was too oily. I liked how the chashu were thinly sliced. It made it less fatty and overwhelming to consume. Overall, not bad.

Google
Absolutely the best Japanese food. This reminds me of home, and it's really hard to find this kind of food in San Diego without your wallet getting destroyed. Servings are huge, the curry tastes amazing, and the pork cutlets (tonkatsu/donkatsu) are absolutely insane. The volcano karrage bowl is also insanely good. But what's even better is the price of the food is averaging anywhere between 10 to 15. It's SUPER cheap compared to other locations where you come out sad with bad and expensive food. The meals taste home cooked and remind me of Japan and Korea. I can wholeheartedly recommend the entirety of the menu as I have not tasted a single miss. Service is also godlike, and if you use their online ordering, you can swing by and pick up food really quick. This place is the definition of a true hidden hole in the wall gem, and I hope it is able to maintain how amazingly delicious and affordable the food is.

Google
The gyōza 🥟 was great. I love the spicy sauce. The Spicy Black Garlic ramen is good but not great in my opinion. The aroma is quite strong, the broth is alright. I would rate it 4/5. Price is cheaper than others because the portion is smaller for every item offered but that is okay with me because I don't eat a lot.

Google
The meal was both exceptionally affordable and delicious. The ambiance was pleasant, and the music complemented the setting. The ramen bowl evoked a sense of nostalgia reminiscent of Naruto. The stew was expertly prepared, possessing a well-balanced flavor profile that avoided excessive saltiness, a common pitfall in ramen dishes. The egg was cooked perfectly, and the entire dish was priced at only $10. Such exceptional value is increasingly rare in today's market.

Yelp
The best and most affordable dinner on Convoy! I believe all menu items were below $20 and they have all day specials. We got the tonkotsu ramen for $10 but they have plenty of $10 options and also $4 Sapporo beer!! For such an affordable price, the quality was great. The portions were perfect and the broth was flavorful. They also have such an easy and convenient ordering system. You just order from a QR code on your phone and it gets sent to your table. Totally hassle free! The food came out so fast too (less than 10 mins). On top of all of this, the service was amazing. There was only 1 server but she was so friendly, attentive, and let us know of all of their specials before we looked at the menu. I believe I just found the next best local gem in San Diego. Will definitely be coming back with some friends!

Yelp
I feel like the large number of reviews for this place are not true reviews. We had dinner here on a whim and we will not be a returning customers. My son and I were looking for ramen and we decided to venture off from our go-to spot and we were both disappointed. We ordered the Spicy Black Garlic ramen and the Tonkotsu ramen. The spicy ramen it was excessively greasy and the pieces of pork are so thinly sliced, it's hardly any protein at all. The broth had a bitter taste to it as well. The Tonkotsu ramen was just ok. Although order your own food through a QR code, the server that brought our food and brought our check was friendly, kind, and overall very pleasant. The two stars are for her. As far as the food goes, I don't recommend it at all!

Anne C.

Yelp
Came here for an early dinner on a Saturday around 6pm... a smaller restaurant, our group of 12 did wait about 30 mins or so to be seated. We ordered through our phones, and our food was brought out to use within a few minutes. A decent selection at decent prices. I took advantage of their $10 ramen deal amongst other things. My kid liked their fried gyozas. The ramen was rich and filling. They also have curry plates. There was only one server, she was busy but friendly and we were taken care of. A decent place to go for some Japanese eats.

Yelp
This place is marketed as affordable and tasty and it is! $10 ramen special, $4 gyoza. Service was very minimal- you order on an app. The restaurant was clean and bright and had a cool wall with their egg logo on it. The spicy gyoza ramen was also super tasty. I'd like to come back and try the chicken katsu

Angela M.

Yelp
I adore Mostra Ramen. The restaurant reminded me of some Japanese train station menu items where it's no frill, standard ramen, curry, and rice bowls at a very affordable price. It's pretty impossible now to find any Japanese restaurant serving food in the $10-13 range and it feels like it's Monstra's mission to make food affordable. With the reasonable price, the quality is still there. The pork katsu curry was very crispy and the portion was massive. The Gyudojidon and Japanese sausages were very flavorful. The Tonkotsu ramen broth was mild and not as rich as other ramen shops in town, but for $10 a bowl, I devoured it. Our server was beyond lovely and sweet and would come by our table several times to make sure we are doing alright. I highly recommend this restaurant for folks looking for yummy Japanese food without breaking your wallet. A really good spot for local college students!

Jerry X.

Yelp
I love this place for a quick meal! It's super affordable, dare I say the cheapest ramen in town. The service is super quick and friendly and you order off your phone. They also make it easy to split bills if you're going with a friend because the online menu allows everyone their own tab. We always get the 10$ Tonkotsu ramen and the pork cutlet curry with rice. The ramen is good, it's got 2 pieces of meat and half an egg for 10$. I'm not really sure there is anything of such comparable price around town. The curry is also a huge portion and the katsu was crunchy and yummy. Parking is easy in the afternoon and shouldn't be a problem, but it's still Convoy so it could be tough during the dinner rush.

Natalie Z.

Yelp
In a day and age where a single meal often runs you over $25, Monsta Ramen is a gem. For ~$10 each, their tonkotsu ramen and curry with kurobuta sausage scratched the itch. The service was efficient--you order and pay with a QR code. Within 5 minutes of ordering, we received our food. The curry was decent --smooth, no clumps of roux, perfectly cooked rice. Yes, technically it's something that you could PROBABLY make at home but sometimes you don't want to eat a giant pot of curry leftovers for a week. The ramen is no Menya Ultra, of course, but it has all the fixings you would want--an egg, scallions, corn, wood ear, and chashu. Our only gripe is that the noodles were a little bit overcooked, but everything else-- flavor, portion, etc. was very good for the price.

Tim T.

Yelp
Great ramen and Asian comfort food like dumplings, katsu and similar dishes that go well with ramen. Cool character logo as well, although I do not know what it is (the titular "monsta" perhaps). Service great and cozy interior atmosphere. In a shopping center on Convoy with other Asian spots but is able to hold its own!

Audrey W.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE. The pork cutlet is so good. The waiters are also really nice. There is an online order option so the food comes out pretty fast. The only bad thing about this place is the parking is horrible in the area. Otherwise I really love this place, sort of has that home-cooked meal essence.

Larenzo D.

Yelp
Monsta Ramen is the place to go for a cheap and filling meal. They always have some sort of deal going on, making a good portion of their menu discounted. One deal that I tend to gravitate towards is their $10 Kurobuta Sausage Curry. Today I ordered their potato croquette curry ($12) and their Kurobuta Sausage ($3 [Discounted from $5 due to deal]). The curry has great flavor and seasoning. There is minced meat in the curry, adding another dimension to it. The potato croquettes had a nice and crispy outside, with a fluffy texture inside. The Kurobuta Sausage was served with honey mustard and a spicy mayo, and they were a perfect accompanying sauce for the sausages. The service here is always top-tier. While you can order online at your table and keep a tab open, the waitress working here is super friendly, accommodating, and helpful when it comes to ordering food and customer interactions. While there are lots of tables, this still seems to be a cozy place to eat at. Overall, Monsta Ramen is a great place to get food that tastes like it's made to order for a cheap price. Their lunch specials and all day specials make the menu affordable, even though prices are on the lower end to begin with. Never disappointed with the service here and I will be coming again.

Yelp
5 Stars! Best ramen!! We drive from OC to Monsta. Spicy Miso and Black Garlic are delicious! Appetizers are delicious and $4 beers. Can't go wrong!

Huyen N.

Yelp
Hefty portions for a good price! This is a cheap place in Convoy to get a yummy meal that leaves you satisfied. We got the tonkatsu ramen and the sausage curry rice. They were both delicious but maybe not the most memorable that we ever had. However very good for the amount we paid. Their online menu ordering system sometimes have discounts on certain items and is cheaper if you use their QR code to order. The service is very fast. We got our food soon after we placed our orders. The space here is more casual and allows you to have a fast relaxed meal with hearty food options.

Cindy L.

Yelp
I definitely recommend this place. It's super affordable and I've never found a ramen place selling Tonkotsu Ramen for $10! The discounts are great with both paper & online menu. Atmosphere is very warm and there are photos of the menu all over the restaurant. Parking is slightly a pain since it's near other restaurants/cafes. Luckily, I found parking on another parking lot. My visit to this restaurant was a great experience. Service from staff was really good. I got recommendations and my food came out fast. My friends and I had the Tonkotsu Ramen, Gyoza (5pcs), Potato Croquette Curry, and the Gyudon. The Gyoza is very crispy and juicy. The hot sauce that's provided & the peppers makes the dishes more delicious! I love my meals with a slight kick at the end. Although the food itself is already plentiful in portion and seasoned well. I liked that all dishes were piping hot which actually helps on a cold night. Definitely coming back to try other menu items!

Charles C.

Yelp
The food and service was amazing, and the price was amazing too! Our waitress, Hannah (hopefully I spelled that right), was super helpful and full of positive vibes! With the variety and price of the food, the wife and I were expecting this place to be a miss, but boy were we wrong. Definitely looking forward to coming here again!

Wes V.

Yelp
A friend invited me to Monsta Ramen for lunch and I was impressed. The lunch special has ramen and curry at an unbeatable price. I got the spicy ramen, which was full of flavor and the serving amount was great. The service was quick and friendly. It's a sit down place but with a sort of fast food feel. I will be going back. Affordable and good.

Erica Z.

Yelp
One of our favorite place for fast casual eats. You have to approach this with the price special factor, you get what you pay for so don't expect 20 dollar quality tontoksu ramen at the price of 20 Dollars. Only wish is that they had bamboo on the ramen. Service is very friendly and the food comes out hot and fast. Our usual items are: Curry plate (pork cutlet) 4/5 Fried croquette 5/5 Tonkotsu ramen 3/5 Volcano Chicken Karaage bowl 4/5

Ian O.

Yelp
I needed to pick up milk tea from next door to Monsta Ramen when I realized I was craving curry or katsu (cutlet). So I just looked at the menu and noticed they had pork cutlet curry, which is what I was craving. I put my order in and got my food within 10 or less minutes. I was very pleased and satisfied my cravings for pork katsu curry. The flavor is excellent and the pork cutlet was very tender. They also give lots of food for what you pay for as well! I will be sure to come by whenever I am in the area!

Yelp
Monsta is tucked in a small plaza along with other competitors. It is a decent restaurant that provides both ramen and curry. Our first time here and noticed instantly their A/C was not working but had 2 machines to provide the cool air atmosphere (kinda helped). My party started with edamame (quantity was scarce), the chicken teriyaki skewer was tasty and different with the breading (the kids approved without the breading) and preferred the chicken karrage. As for the ramen, the beef ramen was nice and light, savory and just the right amount of flavor. The black garlic was light as well and not as rich as other ramen shops. Decent bowls at a respectable price. Pair it with the house hot sauce (which also they sell for $6); probably one of the best hot sauces I've had (and gas a definite kick- caution) The curry is decent as well. Good flavor and amount of portions. It was not busy on a Tuesday night and had great service all around. Id come back for the beef bowl ramen and their house hot sauce but will definitely try their other ramen bowls next time.

Jannie T.

Yelp
No frills kind of restaurant. Service was friendly and prompt and the restaurant was clean. I got a chicken katsu curry plate, a side of kurobuta sausages, and takoyaki as an appetizer and my total was $22 before taxes and tip! Prices on the menu were reasonably priced and the menu online using the QR code has special deals on certain items. The chicken katsu was moist and the breading on it was crispy with a nice crunch. The curry was flavorful with a subtle hint of spice. I enjoyed the small serving of pickled vegetables that came with the plate. The sausages were yummy especially with the dipping sauce and the takoyaki was chewy, flavorful, and had good filling. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Cute mascot. Cool menu. Convenient ordering system. Cordial service. Economical prices. Why so vacant on a Sunday night? I wandered in, curious and hungry in equal proportions. Ordered quickly by scanning QR. Server can take your order though if you prefer. The Chashu Don had a well-timed soft boiled egg and well-seared chashu. Palatable, especially drizzled with house hot sauce. The problem? PORTION. This would've been a meal when I was 12. Now it's a snack. And I'm not a big eater. The prices are low, but it's obvious how it's done. They should offer a regular size for a few more bucks and call this portion a small or half. That way, people know to get appetizers with it. Monsta Ramen hypes you up and lets you down faster than you can say Pikachu. The only monsta at the end of the night is you stomping away hangry.

Roger P.

Yelp
Monsta Ramen is another new addition to the ever-growing list of ramen restaurants in San Diego. But unlike other places, they also serve curry! It's located in an already busy plaza so if you're planning on visiting, I'd recommend non-peak hours. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the food but it's affordable and they often do deals. Chicken Karaage: Great appetizer to start. Each piece is fried really crispy and the meat was juicy. Compared to everything else we ordered, I liked this the best and that's disappointing for the main course. Kurobata Sausage: We only got these to try because of a special deal, making each sausage only $1. It's got this bouncy texture, where each bite is crunchy but not like deep-fried crunchy. It comes semi-sliced and the sauce gets stuck in the crevices for maximum sauce-sausage ratio. Pork Cutlet Curry Rice: Comes with a generous serving of curry and rice. The pork was a little dry and the curry could've been a bit thicker and a little more flavorful. They also had chili oil available on each table and I ended up adding it to my curry for some extra heat and flavor. Not the worst but it doesn't beat my favorite Japanese curry place in San Diego. I also got to try a bit of the Tonkatsu Ramen and did not like it at all. The broth was really watery and missing that richness of a fatty broth. I also tried the Black Garlic Ramen and it was better than Tonkatsu. Although it was still missing the richness of a fatty broth, it packs a lot of flavor. If you're looking for ramen, I would recommend passing on Tonkatsu and go for the Black Garlic.

Rene G.

Yelp
Food - 8/10 Service - 9/10 Ambiance - 8/10 Price is so insanely low without sacrificing the quality of the food. Will come back and recommend.

Ros A.

Yelp
Super affordable menu and service is great. Love trying ramen places and a friend referred me here. You sit and scan the QR code menu to place your order. The staff brings your meal and they check up on us often. For two people we each ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees and it was all under $50. It can be pricey eating out and I'm glad too see there saw affordable options.

Ginger P.

Yelp
Good food & portion size for a great price. I have visited here twice already and had a great meal both times. The lunch special is a great deal and has several menu items at around $10. That's SUCH a great price for ramen/curry in San Diego. My husband and I ordered the black garlic ramen and potato croquette curry and paid less than we did at Taco Bell the other day for much better quality food. Ramen comes with a variety of toppings already built into the price, too. Taste-wise I also thought it was a winner. Portions are pretty big too. I needed help finishing my curry. They also gave us house spicy sauce, which I enjoyed as well mixed into the curry sauce. Restaurant is clean and the service is friendly. Can't think of anything I dislike about this place. Definitely support this business!

Lina P.

Yelp
Plenty of parking! Still new so not to busy when I came on a Saturday evening. You can order with waitress or by scanning QR code (benefits of scanning QR code-you can see daily specials but you can still order in person). Love the simple menu! I really wanted to try a spicy ramen but I'm pregnant now :) and must steer away from them because of the heartburn I now get. So I got this simple tonkotsu ramen with the egg on the side (to give to my cousin since I can't eat the yolk as not fully cooked). It was pretty tasty! Especially for the price point. The broth was clean and I loved the corn and wood ear toppings. The sliced pork was thin and very tender-which I really enjoyed. My cousin got the curry dish with the pork cutlet. I really enjoyed that as well. The curry was smooth and the pork had a nice crispiness. I'd definitely come back for a quick meal.

Rachel C.

Yelp
Fun casual spot for ramen and curry. They often have specials/deals when you order through the app. There are still servers there too if you don't want to deal with tech. The chicken cutlet was better than the pork cutlet. Parking on the lot was easy to find when we got here on a Friday night.

Stefany C.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. I've passed by it numerous times, and finally gave it a go. Prices are great, with all day specials. You get your bang for your buck with delicious food. Service is great, fast, and friendly. Black garlic ramen- absolutely delicious - full of flavor Cutlet chicken place- scrumptious , the coat is crispy and airy, and juicy inside. Try this place out!

Michael T.

Yelp
This place is a small little shop in Kearny Mesa that sells delicious takoyaki, ramen, and curry at an affordable price. Each table has a virtual and paper menu with slightly discounted specials for ordering online. The place was well-lit, clean, and pictures of their food plastered on the walls. The food was timely and delicious, especially for the price. I had the tonkatsu ramen and it had a rich, creamy broth accompanied with nice noodles that had a good bite while the takoyaki was piping hot and delicious with all the sauce, mayo, and bonito flake. All in all, an awesome place for great food at decent prices. Definitely worth trying out in the area and while the food could definitely be matched by others in the area the prices sure are great.

Maynard O.

Yelp
I was hungry during my lunch and found this new place on Yelp that just opened up. You sit down and order via QR code. The waitress was more than helpful and offered to place my order with her if I'd like. I went with the QR experience and did everything through there (ordered and paid). I was by myself and there was only one other couple in there, so it was super chill. After placing the order, it was only a short wait until my order came out. I ordered the Black Garlic Ramen with a side of Kurobata Sausage and rice. Everything was perfect. The table had its own chili powder and a hot sauce. idk if it's homemade but it was better than any table hot sauce you get anywhere else. It was kinda like sriracha but better with a tamarind feel to it. The ramen was flavorful and so was the sausage and even better with the house spicy sauce. I'm not sure why there weren't more people in here. Maybe they're still new and nobody really knows about them yet. One of the better ramen places in SD, so I would definitely come back.

Veronica H.

Yelp
We walked in on a Friday for an early dinner and we were seated immediately (right after it got busy). It's a small location, the later you go on a weekend you can expect a slight wait time. Customer service was amazing, the level of attentiveness and knowledge of the menu made our dinner even more pleasant. There's two options for how to order: you can opt for the traditional way and order through the waitress or you can order by scanning a QR code (this second option offers a few more items and most of the menu is offered at a cheaper price). Everything we ordered tasted great and the food came out at a good pace. They have a house spicy sauce that's on every table, try adding this to everything as it enhances the flavor. We ordered more than enough food for 2 and we didn't pay more than $75 (including soft and alcoholic drinks). We have been back a handful of times since these pictures were taking. Our experiences have been just as great since the first.

Jake T.

Yelp
I would recommend going to Monsta Ramen. We went here at around 8:30 pm on a Thursday night and it was really good. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and it is located right next to Yun Tea and Olleh BBQ. One thing that is really interesting about this restaurant is that you can you a QR code located at your table in order to order your food really quickly. I really liked this method as it allows you to both order and pay for your own meal really easily. We got the Katsu Curry, the Gyudon rice bowl, the Chashu rice bowl, and the Churros. The Curry had a really good portion and I would highly recommend it to anyone that goes here. I could not really say the same about the Rice bowls as I felt that they were a bit on the smaller size. The flavors were really good however the portions were a bit small for me. The prices are pretty low for the rice bowl and roughly the same for both the curry and the Rice bowl so I would highly recommend getting the Curry. The churros were also great, they came out really hot and I thought they were really sweet which were both pluses in my book. Although the dining experience was great, as it is with most places in Convoy, the parking is really difficult to find even on weekday nights. We got lucky in the fact that we were able to find people leaving however Im sure if could take a while to find parking in the lot on weekends. Overall, I would recommend going here.

Yelp
I love this place!! Such a hidden gem ! I've always come with my doggo, so I never really ate inside. We might go one of these days. The place is so cute and customer service is excellent! They are so nice!! The food is sooo good!! I love the curry and how crispy the fried chicken!! The takoyaki is addicting! Everything is just so good that we always come here very often!! I need to try more of the menu, but the curry is just too good! The price is amazing also! Especially in this economy, you can't beat good food with that price tag!! We will continue to come and enjoy the delicious dishes!

Cholmeida A.

Yelp
AC: Out of all the ramen spots in Convoy, I recommend Monsta ramen! We were in line for RakiRaki and it was 40min, so chaotic, and over crowded - let alone, there was no parking. We came across Monsta (just down the street) and it exceeded our expectations! They have a ton of all day specials. I got the gyoza ramen and it was so filling. We loved every dish we got here!

Kellie P.

Yelp
Me and my suitemates' new spot! We loved it so much. I forget the name of the lady but she was so nice. They were closing and they were so patient with us. The food was so delicious!! I always tell everyone that their sauce was too good. Great ambience too!! We will come back trust!!

Alexander A.

Yelp
You order using your phone by scanning a QR code at your table. You can order for yourself or for everyone at the table this way. It's nice and efficient. I liked how the food came out only a few minutes after we put in our order. We were super hungry so we got two appetizers, the Potato Shrimp and the Potato Croquette. They come with a spicy mayo sauce. Both were hot and crispy, but they didn't taste amazing. Just your average fried dishes. They were also smaller than we expected. My fiancee got the Tonkotsu Ramen, and she said that it was just okay. I also tasted it and thought the same. Nothing stood out with the flavor, though it had a lot of additions in it. We definitely have other ramen places that we like more. I got the Gurobuta Sausage Curry Rice. I immediately noticed how small the sausages were. Again, it tasted okay. I would have liked it more if it came with another sausage link, more rice, and/or more picked vegetables. Due to the portions being smaller than we expected we weren't completely satisfied. For the special soft opening prices it's fine, but I would hesitate to pay the normal prices for the same meal. If you're familiar with the area, you know that parking can be tough. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, but it doesn't get very crowded. We were there during dinner on a Friday night, and there were maybe only three other tables with people. The staff that come around to bring your food and check on you are friendly, but Monsta Ramen needs to do more with the flavors and portions to get a real crowd going.

Sharon L.

Yelp
Great prices for a quick casual dining option, especially considering how expensive other ramen places are now. This time we actually tried their rice options - gyudon and pork cutlet curry rice, and the pork sausage. They were all pretty tasty. You can order via QR code or by the server. It seems like they encourage you to order by QR code because there are specials on there (below the drinks). Despite that, our server was super friendly and helpful. The interior of the restaurant is clean but a little empty (?) - feels like a place to would grab and quick meal but not stay long.

Vivi V.

Yelp
I saw on IG they had a new $10 black garlic ramen special promotion, so my husband and I had to come back and give it a try. The broth is so flavorful and delicious! Egg is perfectly cooked. Chashu is tender moist and charred. They don't skimp on the wood ear, seaweed, and corn topping. Noodles aren't overcooked. Our server, Angelica, has consistently been so patient, friendly, and checked on us and all the other tables very frequently. I had to ask for her name (since she didn't have a name tag) to tell her she was working too hard!!

Loved my first visit and can't wait to go back. They have a lunch special during the weekdays where they take about $2 off certain bowls. They have a paper menu but the full menu / specials are online using the QR code. Tried the Black Garlic Ramen for $11 instead of the usual $13. A lot of flavor! So good! Noodles are good texture. Hannah was super friendly during my whole visit. She explained how everything worked clearly and checked up on me frequently. Can't wait for next time!

Yelp
If you're looking for cheap eats definitely check this place out. Where else can you get a bowl of ramen for $10? The service was great, our server was so nice! The ambiance was casual and chill.

Yelp
When I think Convoy, I immediately think of easy and plentiful parking, (yeah right ). But seriously, convoy has some of the best Asian cuisine San Diego has to offer, so when my wife told me about this new ramen shop, we had to try it. We're hardcore ramen lovers, and since our last trip to Japan, the ramen bar has gone up exponentially. It's located in the same parking lot as Olleh AYCE KBBQ. The parking lot is a decent size, but parking sucks. The restaurant is mainly self serve so you order and pay by QR code. No human interaction necessary!! YAAAAY. There were roughly 10 tables with 4 seats each indoor. No outdoor seating available. Decor was ok, the store could use a bit more character Our food came out pretty quickly and our server was nice and helpful. The Tonkotsu broth was acceptable and had good flavor, the noodles were bouncy and had a good chew, but the star was the chasu. The chasu was charred and seasoned. The egg was soft boiled and had minimal flavor. The black garlic broth on the other hand was so delicious. Garlic flavor for days! Definitely my go to ramen here. They have limited promotional pricing, so each ramen bowl set us back $10. I definitely enjoyed the experience and would come back, even at full price.

Yelp
A new addition to the Olleh, Yun Tea House, and bbq Chicken plaza! Monsta serves up Ramen as mentioned in their name, but also has Curry, Rice Bowls and Plates! - PARKING - This plaza is always packed to the brim - usually I have to circle a few times until I see people leaving, or I opt to park on the streets or lots nearby and walk over. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - The restaurant isn't very large, but it seems like people go in and out fairly quickly. You have the option of ordering through the waiters or the QR codes on the table. You can either order on a single phone, or if you're dining with a party, you can all join in on the same order. They let us know that there are deals available and to check the bottom of the online menu to see. Once we ordered, it didn't take more than 10 minutes for our food to come out. If you choose to order with the QR code, you can also pay your tab and leave when you'd like! - FOOD - Spicy Miso Ramen ($13.00): I am a big fan of thick chewy noodles, and although the ramen here is chewy, it's not as thick as some other spots I've been to. The broth was pretty spicy and flavorful. The char siu slices were very thin though, and left me wanting more. Pork Cutlet Curry Rice ($13.00): Really generous portion for the price in my opinion! The Pork Cutlet was very crispy and had a nice flavor to it. I do wish the Curry had a bit more flavor, or if there was a choice to make it spicy that would have helped. If they also had some additional pickled veggies on the side, that would've made this even better! Potato Croquette (2pcs - $5.00): Similar to the Pork Cutlet, this was super crispy on the outside! There were also bits of veggies inside, but I do wish there was some more flavor to the filling. - OVERALL - I would actually come back for the Curry over their Ramen here - I have other Ramen spots I prefer better, but their Curry is solid! Maybe I need to try their different broths the next time I come.

Yelp
This is one of my new quick go-to spots in convoy for a few reasons. It's not crowded, it's relatively cheap, the service is quick, and the food is delicious! I've tried several items on the menu now and my favorites are the karaage, spicy black garlic ramen, and chicken Katsu curry plate. I've tried the pork Katsu curry and regular tonkotsu ramen from friends and found the pork Katsu a bit dry and flavorless and the tonkotsu fairly basic in taste.

Yelp
A new ramen and curry shop has opened in the Convoy Village Shopping Center right next to a couple of boba tea businesses near the northwest corner of the plaza. I believe Monsta Ramen is locally owned as I don't see any other locations as part of a larger chain. The interior was bright and clean with seating for about 40 customers. A menu sheet was available when you walked in, but the staff recommended scanning the menu using the QR code at each table. That's because the online version offers special discounts that can only be purchased using the toasttab.com portal. The prices were really good as the most expensive offering was only $14. It happened to be the Beef Ramen which was one of the items I ordered. The other things I chose were the Potato Shrimp and the Kurobuta Sausage Curry Rice. I took the latter to-go for a future meal. Rice plates, rice bowls, and skewers were the other three menu categories besides the ones from which I made purchases (i.e. appetizers, ramen, curry rice). The shrimp came as four pieces with deep fried potato as an exterior. It was very crunchy and unique as I had not seen such a fried snack before. The ramen featured a house made beef soup base, beef belly, bamboo shoot, wood ear mushroom, and green onion. The broth was light which I enjoyed and was able to consume all of it at the end when I had finished the bowl contents. The rice dish featured mild brown Japanese curry in one compartment with three sausages on top of a bed of white rice in another compartment. The quality and serving sizes were solid, especially for the cost. The service was prompt and efficient. I would definitely return with a larger group to try one of the other eight ramen varieties or the pork or chicken cutlets.

Yelp
The food was pretty good. The garlic edamame loved it. The sausage also was pretty good Liked the potato croquet. It had good flavor and crunch. I didn't tryl the ramen but they both said it was good. The reason only 2 stars is for the way you order. Bits a QR code and you place your order online and then they bring it to you. I get that places are starting to do this now and honestly I hate it. I go out to eat to interact with the servers and have an experience. If I wanted to order through an app or online I could stay home and do Uber eats or take out. Plus the QR code wasn't working for me so if I was alone I would have walked out and gone somewhere else. The service was virtually non existent since the only time you interacted with a server was when they brought you water and then the food. Other than that you never seen them except standing in a corner waiting for someone to come in or wait till food was ready to bring to the table. (they could totally be taking orders the old fashioned way) But that's just me. Not sure if others feel the same but I like to go out to eat to have human Interaction. I probably wouldn't come back here because of this. Definetly wouldn't come back if I was dining alone.

Yelp
Loved it here! Our waitress was super nice, the food is VERY affordable, and the parking isn't too bad. It's Convoy, so parking is always gonna be a hit or miss depending on the day. I went with a friend and my girlfriend a while back, and we all agreed the food's great for the price we got them for. Portions aren't bad either. We were all decently full by the end of our meals. The interior gives minimalist, and the place has this comfy vibe going on. I would for sure come back for more when I wanna have a budget friendly meal ‍

Yelp
Monsta Ramen is currently in its grand opening and offering various deals, such as 10$ ramen and curry plates as well as discounts on drinks and sides. It is a very fast casual restaurant that definitely provides both decent ramen and decent curry. When we visited we tried the tonkotsu ramen and the chicken katsu curry plate along with some appetizers. I love the kurubotq pork sausages!!! Next time I'd come back here just to get those. So fun and juicy. The food comes out fairly quickly and the server walks you through the menu and how to use the QR code to view and order. My ratings of the food we ordered: Tonkotsu ramen: 4/5 Chicken cutlet curry: 4/5 Potato shrimp: 3/5 Gyoza: 4/4 Kurubota pork sausage: 5/5!!

Yelp
Came here for the $10 soft opening deals for the black garlic ramen and the curry dish. I think it's a really great deal for the dishes but I would not pay full price for them. The ramen is a pretty basic as well as the curry. Service was quick. You can order through the QR code at the table. The place is kinda smol and the parking in that plaza is horrendous during prime lunch and dinner times so beware!
