Cute bubble tea shop with cute decor. My friends and I stopped in after dinner to grab a refreshing boba drink. Drinks were good, but staff was not friendly at all. They didn’t even greet us when we walked in and just stood at the counter. We asked how much certain items were (plushies and merch) and they said they didn’t know. Both workers didn’t seem to care or try to find our prices for their items either. Not in a rush to visit any time soon.

Google
The workers were amazing and very friendly. I had asked how they cooked their Boba and the guy went out of his way to write it down for me instead of just brushing it off. I enjoy their customer service and the tea. Here is amazing as well as the Boba. it’s all in the house

Google
Tea was good. Love the name of the shop and the logo, but the inside of the shop seems confused. Covered in hello kitty. Which is cute. But not giving monster. Lol

This is my second time coming here, I really like it!! I get my drinks at 50% sweetness level because they are very sweet. The drinks are great with a lot of variety. However, I feel the food is slept on. The Oreo waffle is great as well as the Musubi and if you’re hungry for more than a beverage, I definitely recommend those!! Also, a great place to hang out with a friend or getting some work done .

We came here while we were waiting for our clothes that we thrifted for an estimate. This boba has been on my list to visit eventually mainly because of their themed drinks. When we visited they had Mario themed drinks probably because of the latest Mario movie. I was a bit sad hoping it'd be a different theme like Barbie since that is the current trend. However, I wasn't as sad because I didn't miss out on trying out the Mario themed boba. We got the Mario which was raspberry strawberry juice sunrise, Princess Peach which was peach raspberry milk tea and ube coffee with boba. The place was fun to be in and hangout and the drinks were refreshing and did their job of satisfying us.

Abbie L.

Google
This is such a cute boba shop. I love the fun theme. It's very clean and the tea was also very good. They have the typical options and it was a fun experience. I highly recommend for a fun place to get your boba. We did not try any food.

Jocy F.

Google
This is such a cute boba tea shop! They would occasionally switch out the themes, and right now, it’s Hello Kitty! I ordered the Cinnamon drink and it was just right. Went on a weekend and it was packed, so I would recommend going on a weekday.

Chris P.

Google
Took my 5 year old here the other day because he is obsessed with Mario. He loved all the decorations and wanted to play with and hit everything. Did make the mistake of getting the boba in my drink, he wasn't a fan of those but I really enjoyed and the peach smoothie was delicious.

Yelp
I've been to Monster Tea House a couple of times and think the decorations are super cute with Sanrio characters. I ordered the passion fruit tea and thought it was refreshing especially during hot times. The employee answered our questions and provided information on the menu.
google avatar

Jin Z.

Yelp
Very helpful guy at the counter who explained what drinks had caffeine and various ingredients. I got a winter melon milk tea hot, with boba and oat milk. The funny thing is that while the "About" on here says they don't use artificial flavors or powders, the employee said that is absolutely not true and that the business owner doesn't use Yelp at all, so not sure if that's just way outdated info or what. But FYI if you're looking for all natural boba--this place isn't it! The drink I got is super tasty though.
google avatar

Dina E.

Yelp
What a cutie spot. I chose them because they have boba beverages with the option to add alternative milk (coconut, oat and almond I believe). I ordered a fresh black tea and got coconut milk and boba, light sugar and hot as it was a really cold day. Staff was friendly -- drink was good, took a little bit as I believe they brewed it fresh. Decor is all pink. I'd come back if I were in the neighborhood to try other drinks.

Yelp
The shop was cute don't get me wrong, but the actual drinks / food were not super impressive. My boyfriend got a spam musubi that had already been sitting out on the counter, who knows for how long but it wasn't good at all, even if not fresh, just flavorless. The drinks we got really were not that great, I've definitely had better drinks at mall food courts. We got the hello kitty and my melody, honestly not great and didn't even finish mine. The service was casual, it was fine.

Andrea S.

Yelp
Yes! Perfectly cooked boba. And milk alternatives for the win!! We got blended oat milk matcha at 75% sweet and it was delicious!

Yelp
The cutest boba cafe ever with the Hello Kitty theme going right now. The place was clean and bright, decorated with Hello Kitty items. Attentive cashier. Drinks were good too. Boba was nice and chewy. The mango fruit tea with boba was really good. I had the My Melody drink which was dragonfruit sunrise with strawberry jelly. It was ok, it just reminded me of medicine growing up but the kids liked it. Overall cute boba place.
google avatar

Ovo C.

Yelp
Yummy fruit tea, cute place, quick service. Nothing bad to say, I did go to get a passion fruit tea but realized the menu changed so the menu you see on the reviews has been changed since then.
google avatar

Mark F.

Yelp
I got the Strawberry Green Tea with Brown Sugar Boba (50% sweet / less ice) and it was just what I was hoping for on a warm day. Really nice person taking the order. Fast service. Cute decor.
google avatar

Yelp
Gotta be one of my fave places for boba. Such fun options for drinks and sometimes you wanna treat yourself to something that actually looks like the pic on the menu! Service was friendly and quick. Make sure to order online if you're getting take out and don't skip the spam musubi if you've not tried it...very filling and a good deal for a snack!
google avatar

Yelp
My boyfriend entered to inquire if we could bring our dogs in. To our delight, the cashier said it would be fine and we were able to sit down and enjoy our drinks. Our cashier was very friendly and patient with us when we ordered! First, I loved the cute Mario themed decorations and menu! Super cute and well thought out for fellow fans to appreciate. My boyfriend ordered the Luigi drink while I got the Golden Star. Our drinks came out perfectly as the taste was sweet and delightful after a long 3 hour drive from Washington to Portland. Definitely check out this spot!
google avatar

Yelp
The staff is so kind, pleasant to interact with, and the space itself is so neon kawaii cute! The coconut milk matcha tea was yummy, and the hello kitty pink top made it even better! So many cute props to take pictures with, petf location for food-hopping and shopping around the area.
google avatar

Kaythlin Y.

Yelp
Cute Mario themed boba spot on Hawthorne. My group was looking to satisfy our boba craving and this did the trick! We ordered the Golden Star and Mario drinks, with boba and crystal jelly added, respectively. The drinks were on the sweet end for me, but having fresh boba was a plus! I would come again if I were in the area. They've got plenty of options to choose from. The staff were fast with putting out orders, which was great for our quick stop in!
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
Great boba in a cute shop. Ok, so I LOVE boba, and I've been drinking it for 20 years. This is fantastic spot for a certain category of boba experience. This is not the place you go for the finest tea; this is the place you go for fun tea combinations and well-crafted tapioca pearls. Plus, the decor is really fun and Nintendo themed.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Out of all the boba tea places I've been, and I've been to a lot, this is the best I've had! I oddly saw it on tiktok- but the consistency of their blended teas is very milk shake like! Not chunky or 'grainy' like some are, very smooth but thick. I loved that they had a sweetness option, and milk alternatives! Oat milk included which is cool. They had lots of topping options too including pudding and popping boba. I have my opinions about charging for a topping when that's the point of a bubble tea.. so toppings are an extra .75 There was a Strawberry Shortcake drink option and man oh man, I've never tasted something so delicious!! Very sweet though *For the blended options they have them in open top lids and milk teas are sealed (not a fan of that for on the go)

Yelp
I remember coming here frequently when it first opened up, and the drinks were really good and I liked the way the interior was set up here. It used to be my top 3 favourite boba places in Portland. However I think as of lately it isn't as good as it used to be. Don't get me wrong, drinks are still pretty solid and I would recommend it if you're around Hawthorne. But these days I consider this boba spot pretty average like most other boba places in Portland
google avatar

Yelp
Nothing scary about this bubble tea ~ monsters theme, Harry Potter points, figurines adorn the wall. Unique indeed. Tea ~ syrupy sweet, so ask for less sugar. Boba fresh & chewy. A couple seats to chill, free Wi-Fi for laptop work. Nice stop while street hiking Hawthorne.
google avatar

Yelp
After staring at a board for a long time, like trying to decipher a code, I went with the familiar Mangonado,it was just right amount of sweet for me The staff are patient and answer all your questions

Yelp
After many boba places, I have to say this one remains on my top 5 in Portland. This boba place is situated in a small part of Downtown Portland, where it is a bit more suburban and not as much city-life. It is an easier place to park then straight downtown, but it's not a walk in the park! Overall this place is grear! My husband always managed to get their classic and there is nothing wrong with it. He loves it! However my choice is always Ube! We met this business at the Portland Night Market and we've gone down to their actual location a few times now. My favorite drink was the Ube Latte and let me tell you- DELISH! Not only is it delicious, but it is also insta-worthy that I had to take a shot! Overall; definitely a place to try if you are in Portland on Hawthorn for their mini downtown f

Yelp
We wanted to try Portland boba so decided to come here after 10 minutes of researching. I know a lot of people said this place is Mario themed, but I felt like there wasn't really enough Mario stuff to say that. We went on a Thursday afternoon so it wasn't crowded at all, but there was a steady stream of people coming in. The store itself is also pretty big with a moderate amount of seating for a boba shop - would be a good place to get some work done! I got the jasmine honey milk tea which was not bad, but definitely needed stronger tea/more of a tea flavor. It was a little bland otherwise. My friends got fruit teas which were also not bad, but I feel like it's hard to mess up a fruit tea. My other friend got the sea cream boba monster latte at 100% sweetness which was very sweet. I would say the sweetness is pretty on par with other shops though. Overall, I thought it was not bad, but not sure how the boba scene in Portland looks like.

Yelp
After lunch, I suggested to try a boba place around the Portland area as the weather was 90+ degrees with pure dry heat. One of my friends found this cute boba shop with a little cartoon monster. Decided to give it a try! It's located next to Mio Sushi on SE Hawthorne Blvd in Hawthorne. There's only street parking but with a lot of residential areas to park at especially when roaming around the area. I saw that they had three types of coffee drinks and wanted to try their Dalgona Coffee. I asked if they could make it 50% sweet but the coffee already had an adjusted sweetness booooo. Didn't want to risk getting a super sweet drink, so I ended up getting their Signature Milk Tea for 50% sweetness. My first initiate thought: kind of watery. Not much tea flavor as I generally prefer. Overshadowed by the creaminess of the milk and probably the wateriness. Sad to say, didn't really care for it. My friends got the lychee black tea with boba (very good! Strong tea flavor. I wish I got that), Hokkaido milk tea with caramel (same as mine, kind of watery. But the caramel gave it a nice flavor), and Thai tea (strongish and good!). Very cute cafe to be in with its aesthetics and vibes! There are three tables that customers can sit and study at (if they have wifi) with really good outdoor lighting. Prices for the drinks are also on the more expensive side but lots of variety!

Yelp
Cute small tea shop, with Boba options, If you are Sanrio/Hello Kitty Fan you will love this cute decorative spot! Good Service and the drinks were delicious! I will return

Shira S.

Yelp
Good boba and alt milk options, but not many snack or food choices. The ambiance is cute with good seating indoors, very nice staff and fast service!

Yelp
I went here with friends after dinner and it's such a cute boba shop with places to sit down and chat! The service was pretty quick and friendly. Their menu is pretty unique and there are various options for different moods (I love how they blended drinks and lattes!). I got the strawberry shortcake smoothie with less sweetness and it was really good! (I do recommend lower sweetness though, as they're already so sweet) Although it's not my favorite, I did really like the boba and the vibe of the place was really nice for hanging out with friends or even studying. :)
google avatar

Melia F.

Yelp
Monster Tea House is so cute, I love the Mario theme! You can adjust the sweetness levels of the drinks, which were made quickly! Inside is smaller but ample seating that didn't feel cramped, staff were kind and efficient!
google avatar

Marie R.

Yelp
This is a cute fruit tea shop that's Super Mario Bros themed. I got a Passionfruit Green Tea with lychee jelly. I didn't adjust the sweetness or the ice level but it was just right. My friend and her mom got the Mario drink and the Raspberry Tea and they both liked what they got!
google avatar

Lakshmi M.

Yelp
Plus points about Monster Tea? They have a strawberry matcha which is hands down such a fave~ Downsides, the sugar levels and the actual boba. We dropped by on a weekday around 5 pm and were able to grab a couple of drinks; no line so drinks came out pretty quickly! I of course had to get the strawberry matcha and got it 50% sweet which I expected would be a nice, mild sweetness. The flavor itself was fine overall. The strawberry felt a bit artificial but otherwise good balance between the fruit and the matcha. My main complaint was how sweet the drink was for 50% sweetness. Also, the boba itself was a little overdone and somehow also a bit hard in the middle. Strange combination to be honest. The price was at the higher end for boba so I'm not really sure I'll frequent this place based on the quality of the drinks. Cute place though not sure when they'll open up indoor seating again. There is a fair bit of easy street parking in the area, but definitely plan to grab and head out if you drop by.

Yelp
This place was magical -- and very friendly. We had just watched the Super Mario Brothers film at the Avalon Theater down the road so this was a pleasant surprise. Spam musubi was delicious too.

Shannon T.

Yelp
I saw this place on Instagram and it was advertised as a Harry Potter themed café. It did have a lot of nods to Harry Potter, and lots of HP things to decorate with. The space is cute with a good amount of tables. With the rise of boba prices, this place keeps their prices relatively low in comparison. I got the butterbeer drink and it's basically just cream soda with salted foam on top. There wasn't anything special about it. I wish I had opted for one of their boba drinks. My niece had a milk tea and she really enjoyed it. My sister had the Thai tea and said it was a tad too sweet for her liking, and I told her she could have possibly asked for less sweet in hers. My mom had the taro tea and she also said hers was on the sweeter side.
google avatar

Jojo N.

Yelp
It was just really bad. The boba was hard and flavorless and the drink was mid at best. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
Monster Tea House is an average tea place on Hawthorne. The set up of the store isn't great. There's a few large tables and it seems like there is too much open space. I like the Harry Potter decor. The menu has a great variety of drinks to chose from. I had a lychee green milk tea with pudding. I asked if I could adjust the sweetness and they complied. Usually, boba tea spots note on their menu that you can adjust the sweetness to different percentages but that was not the case here. The tea was okay. The green tea was a little weak. The pudding was good. Overall, its an average boba tea shop and it won't be a regular spot for me.

Kellianna M.

Yelp
Thai Tea here is a banger. Love the boba too. Good vibes. Real hard to find parking though.
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
Their boba is really good. I've loved every drink I've gotten so far. The service is pretty fast too. Not a whole lot of seating.. at least not comfortable seating but I always get to-go anyway. Prices are pretty on par.
google avatar

Linda N.

Yelp
Really like monster tea! I like how many options they have. I ordered the ube coffee and it was good!
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
The fact that Portland doesn't have many boba places to begin with makes Monster Tea House stand out quite a bit. The store is clean, organized, and has a very hip/modern atmosphere. The staff is nice and we got our orders quickly. Parking wasn't an issue for me. I got the strawberry matcha latte. The drink was aesthetically very well done. Layers are very clear and a good amount of boba. In my opinion, it was expensive. WIth boba (+0.75) it was $6.50...... After mixing, the strawberry flavor definitely overpowers the matcha, making the drink sweet. The bitterness of the matcha makes it not "too" sweet though. There wasn't a lot of ice in my drink, which I prefer. Another cute detail I noticed was that the straws colors were all pastel. Was inside the store for two hours, and there were consistently customers coming in and out. Would return.

Yelp
Saw their instagram and was excited about this place! Grand opening this weekend (05/22 & 05/23) and saw BOGO was advertised. Double the excitement... until I got there: it was actually buy one now and get NEXT one free (starts 05/24/21 - Monday). At that point, I was only slightly disappointment by their verbiage. I still ordered anyways to try it. Ordered two of the same drink- Monster Supreme Milk Tea $5.75 each (includes three toppings: red bean, pudding and boba). It was not a bad price considering their regular milk teas are $5.00 each plus $0.75 per topping. When I received the drinks, I was excited because it looked good. Because we were masked up, we took the drinks to go. Hopped in our car and onward to the next destination. Anddd here's the major disappointment: took a few sips and my milk tea was gone. My drink was literally FULL of ice. If I could describe the situation, it would be: 80% ice and 20% milk tea. Thoroughly disappointment as I paid for milk tea, not a cup full of ice. Not to mention, not much tea flavor. At that point, I felt deceived by Monster Tea House. Also, I saw a girl in the kitchen, pull down her mask and drank something out of an open beverage container (no lid) and went back to working. I thought per food handler's health code, if an employee is "thirsty while working, you may drink from a closed beverage cup with lid and straw or cup with lid and handle". I am pretty sure food handlers must wash their hands after eating or drinking before handling food again. I am concerned about the food safety practices at this place. Place is small. Street parking. Accept Apple Pay & Google Pay.

Yelp
My friends and I have gone here at least once a week for the past few weeks. super cute shop that's perfect to study in. Servers are very nice. Comfortable seating and tasty drinks-- the ube tea is the best one like it in Portland. I love the monster energy bomb. It's always a surprise what new decorations they'll have around the shop-- there's been a Mario, Harry Potter, and now a more kawaii theme going on. Whatever the theme, the vibes are always perfect. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Not our first choice to get boba but it was within walking distance from the FARMHOUSE where we grabbed lunch. It was cutely decorated for Halloween. They have a pretty big menu so hopefully, they have something that peaks your interest (4/5): UBE COFFEE LATTE: The favorite of the bunch. Would come here just for this drink. Beautifully layered & the ube added this sweetest that complemented the coffee well. Recommend trying this one! (2/5): SEA CREAM BOBA MONSTER LATTE: Got it 50% sugar but still quite sweet. Latte because it is mainly just milk with brown sugar syrup, no coffee. If you're looking for a drink with tea or strong flavor, this one isn't it (2/5): STRAWBERRY MATCHA LATTE: They did add some strawberry chunks in the drink. My friend said it was ok but would not get again

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place by mistake after dinner and decided to try it for dessert. The place was fairly small but they worked with what they had to try to enforce the standard precautions. The inside decor was very nice and the staff very friendly. I got the dalgona coffee drink mostly because I like coffee and it looked cool. The drink looked amazing and once it was all properly mixed, it had a really strong Vietnamese-ish coffee flavor which was good for me. I have a pretty intense sweet tooth so it wasn't quite sweet enough for me but I think the overall sweetness level was good. The only strange thing about the layout was they have a long bench right in the main line strip; we had someone sitting waiting which obstructed the line slightly, but that's not their fault for the space being smaller. There wasn't too much places to wait inside but also not their fault and you can just wait outside because it was pretty quick to make the order. Overall it was pretty good and I would come back for the coffee drink.

Yelp
Being from the Bay Area, I wasn't expecting too much from boba spots in Portland, but I was definitely impressed with this spot! I got the seasonal Pomegranate Passion Fruit drink with boba. I think I'd rate the tea itself a 7/10, not because it was bad, but I just don't think it was my style. The boba texture was bomb though, and they gave a lot of boba too! Overall, it was a very refreshing drink for the warm day.
google avatar

Paul K.

Yelp
Monstar squad! Monsters enjoy tea at the house? In my classic nursing style of report, I came to this boba spot on a lovely Wednesday afternoon with a friend. I decided to get my usual jasmine milk tea AKA green milk tea AKA my favorite baseline drink. I got it with my usual specifications like less ice, 75% sweet without boba. So my rating is based on this drink alone. And I gave it a 3.5 but rounded down for all the aesthetics of the location. The drink itself was nothing special. But it wasn't terrible. One litmus test is to see if there were some remaining sugar or powder on the bottom because the drink didn't mix. In this way, I recommend you to check this place out and see for yourself! Loved the aesthetic. Beautiful Harry Potter theme and monsters like pokemon, etc.

Yelp
Overall: Came here for their grand opening promotion - "buy one, 'NEXT' one free" that you had to come back to use and you have to like, tag, and post a picture of them on social media. Location: It's located right next to New Seasons with limited parking but luckily, I have not struggled with parking while I am in that area. Drinks: We ordered the Monster Supreme Milk Tea and finished it in just a few sips, not because it was good but because it was full of ice! The tea lacked any flavor and the only thing they had going was the toppings which you could buy from the store - nothing special. Service: Just like drinks, nothing impressive. The only positive was the drinks came out fast which made sense since they were overstaffed.
google avatar

Charlie T.

Yelp
Been here a couple times and had a pleasant experience. The decor and atmosphere is nice and pleasant. I really enjoyed the Monster Supreme Milk Tea. The flavor and the toppings were great. There's a good combination of toppings in that drink. The Strawberry Matcha would've been better if it had fresh strawberries rather than the canned/syrup one. Overall, pretty good place with lots of options to try out.
google avatar

Linh T.

Yelp
Subpar bubble tea drinks. The flavors tasted artificial. I don't recommend this place and would likely not return. There are definitely much better bubble tea shops around the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Saw some videos on Instagram that really hyped up their Harry Potter theme they have. Unfortunately it was a huuuge let down. If you're a potterhead, you'll be disappointed! They just slapped some $20 amazon basic Harry Potter decor up but it's really nothing special at all. Their staff was literally the worst. We were hyped about being there until the energy of their staff sapped all our joy. Literally couldn't answer a single question we had, all just staring at us & were soooo unhelpful. In hindsight we should've just left but after driving 30 minutes to get there, we were committed. The overpriced drinks were sugary & forgettable. Don't waste your $$ on the "butter beer" - it's literally just club soda. We asked if there was a topping & the unhelpful blob working the register said no. Only to get the drink & it had a topping! The ube latte I got was not layered like the drinks I've seen here & on insta. The Musubi was extra salty & the puffle waffle was like a sticky disgusting lukewarm croissant. Would not ever waste my time or money here again!

Yelp
After searching for a new boba place to try we decided to give this one a try just because I wanted the milk carton cup! My friend ordered strawberry matcha latte with oak milk and I got taro milk tea with oat milk and of course we had to get them in the milk carton cups!! SML was a bit sour but the the Taro was good Overall would come back again

Yelp
Right now during the Halloween season, the shop had a Harry Potter theme going on and I thought it was a perfect way to get into the spirit (Slytherin for life). I should have asked but I did go there when they first opened so I'm actually not sure if it's always been Harry Potter themed. It's still super cool though. There was a really cool claw machine right in front of the entrance and the claw doesn't even wrap around the plush all the way. So that bummed me out a little but I ordered a Creme Brûlée tea with bubbles and it was pretty good. I also loved how they melted sugar on the top to make it really look like a crème brûlée dessert. After drinking their crème brûlée bubble tea drink, I wasn't so bummed out anymore.
google avatar

Miki M.

Yelp
Cool bubble tea shop with a cute monster theme! The wall decor is really nice, I love the cartoon art. I ordered one of their specialty drinks, the Ube Coffee with boba. The ube flavor wasn't very strong in the drink, so it basically tasted like regular coffee. The boba was good, not too chewy and not too tough.
google avatar

Jerry M.

Yelp
Monster Tea House is a neat, tidy, and very pleasant place to enjoy cold drinks and treats. I like how their walls are meticulously decorated with shelves of interesting artifacts. Their whole space didn't feel bland and "sterile"...it had "character". In addition to the atmosphere there, of course the tea is really good too. I ordered a Jasmine Lime Blast...Jasmine tea with honey and sugar with fresh lime plus Crystal Boba. I don't like teas that are too sweet, and they were able to accommodate me by reducing the honey and didn't use any sugar at all. Well, it came out perfect...refreshing and citrusy. They also have some snack items...bubble waffles and musubi. Being located on Hawthorne Blvd, sometimes finding a place to park can be tricky, but that's the only downside.
