Montagu's Gusto

Saw a video of a chicken cutlet sandwich on focaccia here and was craving it ever since! Let me tell you what, it didn't disappoint. Food: The picture of the sandwich is all you need to see. Yes, it tasted just as good as it looked. They loaded that thing with meat, cheese, and arugula and I could barely fit my mouth around it, it was massive. The chipotle mayo on the sandwich was phenomenal. I asked for it on the side because I didn't want the sandwich to be drowning in mayo like some places do, but I ended up basically licking every last bit of that mayo out of the ramekin it was so good. Service: The lady who took my order was so nice and helpful when choosing what I wanted to order. I had the chance to speak with the owner after I finished my food, and he was so sweet. He and his wife own the place, and you can tell he takes pride in his establishment and just wants the guests to have a great experience with their food. Whatever they're doing, they're doing it right and should keep it up! Atmosphere: Clean, welcoming, and appealing cafe vibes. They have a few tables to sit down and eat inside, but a lot of people just grab and go. I like how you can see a lot of the fresh ingredients they use for their salads on the deli line.

Staffs were super friendly and helpful. The ladies greeted us nicely. We were here for the foccacia but too straving that we forgot to tell the lady to change the original bun to the foccacia. However the sandwich was still on fire. The beef was tender and juicy. It wasn’t too wet either just right beef sandwich. Weve seen the staffs making salad looking amazingly mouth watering. Will definitely come back for the salad and the foccacia next time

🚨 gem alert 🚨 Now this place is well around they offer a variety of different foods. I order there skirt steak sandwiches , and man they’re fantastic. Both was well made and all made to order, both offers different flavors so they are worth getting. If in the area check it out !! PS . Order ahead if you in a hurry because they take there time (in a reasonable fashion) but I like that.

Best sandwich and Salad shop I’ve have in Newyork! The taste and the toppings are amazing and soo fresh! Absolutely LOVE IT and would highly recommend this place! Staff also really nice!

I called my order in for pickup and the sandwich was ready 5 minutes later- Great job on the speed. We ordered the Buffon Special and upgraded to focaccia bread. The focaccia was extremely thin (for what focaccia should be) and didn’t elevate the sandwich to be worthy of a $2.50 up charge. The sandwich itself had a great make up but unfortunately it lacked the flavor you expect in a $22 sandwich. The chicken cutlets were plentiful but very thin and dry. We felt the pesto was tasteless.

The bread was delicious, which is important. Everything tasted fresh and the flavors were good. My critique is in the build of a sandwich. Allow me to explain. When there is a lot of meat on a sandwich, is has to be stacked in a way to allow air pockets, otherwise the various meats blend into a single mass and it’s hard to differentiate the flavors. I fear this happened with this sandwich. This sandwich would be a home run if the meat was layered differently. I also wouldn’t mind a little more of the oil and vinegar, as the salty meat needed to be balanced a touch more. But don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it a lot. My lovely partner got the Tuna grilled cheese and said “mmmm yummy” and “it hit the spot after a long day of travel” so do what you want with that information. TLDR: solid, would recommend.

1st im from Chicago, came to New York to see the chicago cubs play the Yanks!. A friend that lives in New York took us there it was her 1st time there also but she said this place had great review on TikTok and other social media platforms so we went to see for ourselves. The Cubana Sandwich was very good and great flavor and hot of the press. The Philly steak was a little on the salty side but maybe it was my taste buds, or the cheese, it was still good. My sons friend had a spicy chicken sandwich he said it was very good and flavorful. My sons girlfriend had a non spicy chicken sandwich and she it was also good. We loved everything that we ordered. Definitely worth the hype from social media.

Montagu’s Gusto is my go to restaurant from now on! The ambience felt great from the moment I walked into the restaurant, to the moment I got my food. I ordered the Focaccia special, and it was insanely delicious! It was jam packed with many flavors, and the focaccia bread was a delightful touch. I would definitely recommend this place anyone considering coming to this establishment, because trust me, it’s definitely worth it.

Flying solo in NYC and I've been walking all day. 25,000 steps and about 10 miles later, I was hungry, and saw this sandwich shop on instagram so why not check it out. To be honest. I was going to say to hell with gluten intolerance, I wanted to try one of their amazing breads of which they have a lot of options to go with one of their amazing sandwiches, again, a ton of options. In the end though, I decided to go with the gluten free wrap and the godmother. Yes yes, the chicken cutlet was not gluten free but better a bit of breading than a hunk of bread. Anyway, this cutlet with roasted red peppers, arugula, mozzarella and balsamic was fantastic. One of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. The wrap wasn't anything special-just a standard gluten free wrap-but in the plus side, the tastelessness of a gluten free wrap made sure I enjoyed the flavors of everything in the wrap. Come here. You won't regret it.

We just came from DC to NyC Our daughter ordered two types of sandwiches .Their sizes are huge .Very tasty .We ordered Burrata Caprice and Turkey . Both full of flavor size is huge . one sandwich can be shared by two people .

If you're in the area and feeling a sandwich this could be a good option. The place is nice and the service is friendly. It's a fairly large sandwich and you can eat half later. The chicken noodle soup was the soup of the day and it was good! I shoulda got a bigger bowl. I'll order again soon!

I have ordered catering from here multiple times for corporate lunches and I cannot express how easy they make the process. They've shared their recommendations with me, they also deliver, and are very communicative throughout the whole process. The food is also delicious! Thank you Montagus Gusto team! I corrected an Egregious wrong by finially going back to Montagu's to get the correct skirt steak sandwich! Honest review of Montagu's Corona Skirt steak sandwich Honest Review of Mantagu's Skirt Steak Sandwhich with Brie cheese, fresh arugula, fig tahini sauce on a freshly made bun. This sandwich was sooo sooo tasty! The steak was tender and seasoned just right, the Brie complimented the Fig tahini sauce...the next time I order this sandwich I will be sure to add caramelized onions when I go back to 645 2nd Ave Manhattan NYC.

One of my Meal Pal staples specially on Tuesdays. I love their pancho villa sandwich. It's spicy and full of flavor. I find that their portion is large and I split the sandwich for two occasions. I love how quickly the food is made and that it's made in front of you. The staff is friendly and the seating area is small but cute.

I love Gustos oh so much! I order from here at least once a week while I'm at work. Their food is always delish. Glory Caesar Sandwich of the Month -- this pic doesn't do it justice, but try it you won't regret it!

So many choices! They have so many options! I went for the Habana Cuba, but the ciabatta bread wasn't really pressed; it was chewy instead of crunchy, which defeated the purpose. Good selection of ingredients, though. They don't come cheap, but the portions are sizable.

While staying in NYC, I've had enough pizza slices so I ventured o to Yelp go find something else. The reviews and photos looked great. I ordered the Frank Sinatra grinder/hoagie/whatever (!) and man, it did not disappoint. The sandwich was so good and so big!! The bread was great and the meats and veggie totally fresh! Service was fast. I received the sandwich in no time. I'm not sure what the place looks like, but if it's as good as the food, it must be nice!

Huge sandwiches! Perfect for sharing (or not). I got a special that was offered last month but they were able to make it again for me but slightly modified. It was a chicken cutlet sandwich which they have a few other ones to choose from. Found the staff to be friendly.

This place has cozy cafe vibes, and the staff is always ready to help when I step in. The first time I visited, I looked at the menu and immediately wanted to try several different items. Of course, I came back for more! I ordered the Charrua Bravo Sandwich this time, and they once again did not skimp out on the meat. The meat was a little too chewy for my liking, but the flavors together all combined really well.

Today, I got takeout for lunch from Montagu's Gusto. Inside, there are very few indoor seats and tables. It's very clean inside and decorated simply. Ambiance rate 7/10. The staff was nice, and the service was quick since my order was ready by the time of pickup. I ordered the M1 Venezia Moon Sandwich. The Italian herbs seasoning they used was delicious and flavorful. The bread was also nice and soft which I liked. The size of the sandwich was very big and kept me full. However, a huge downside is the Chicken Milanese was not crispy at all, like advertised on their menu. Instead, it was grilled and very soft. It lacked mozzarella cheese and balsamic glaze, so I wish they added more of that. Lastly, it was a bit pricey for a sandwich ($17), and considering it wasn't exactly how they described it, I don't think it was worth the price. Rate 7/10. Overall, I would definitely try other sandwich delis in NYC.

I stopped by there for lunch today and it was super nice inside and clean. Everyone that works there is so nice and the service was quick. I got the chicken teriyaki bowl and it was delicious. It had a lot of protein in it and was tasty. I will definitely be returning.

The sandwiches are great...if you get the right one. We love the Viva La Gusto with chicken, cheese, bacon, and spicy sauce. However, on 2 separate occasions we have been given a completely different sandwich from what we ordered. Both sandwiches had our name and order description on it but contained something completely different inside. I would suggest placing orders in person and verifying them before leaving the building.

My goal is to hit all of the best sandwich shops in nyc. Next on my list was Montagu's Gusto which sells both hot and cold Italian specialities (they also sell breakfast items, rice bowls, soups, salads and other foods). The first thing that stuck out to me from their menu was their wide variety of breads. For any of the sandwiches you order, you can choose to substitute for another type of bread. Among the bread options are Balthazar ciabatta , filocino hero, strecci doppio hero and more. I knew right away that u wanted to order a chicken cutlet sandwich. I went with the God Mother which is chicken cutlet with mozzarella cheese balsamic glaze arugula and red peppers. I asked for mine lightly toasted. Weirdly mine didn't arrive with either arugula or peppers, but I didn't mind frankly. The sandwich was very big. You certainly get your moneys worth. They give you a generous amount of chicken and mozzarella. The chicken was very well seasoned. Overall, it was quite good. In terms of how it stacks up to the other sandwich places on my nyc list, I'm still deliberating. I would certainly order again though.

Just absolutely phenomenal sandwich joint. Will say it is WILDLY overpriced, but you are definitely getting some good quality ingredients. They tend to have monthly specials which are always interesting! The service is always quick and easy, but it's small so there aren't many spots to eat inside

The food was good, but didn't really seem worth the $15+ price tag per sandwich. The ambiance was nice, but the wait was kind of crazy. We showed up as the only people in there, placed our order and then a few groups came after us. Somehow the groups after us started getting their food first, and our order took over 15 minutes for 2 sandwiches. The sandwich I got was a pretty good size though

I wanted to try the focaccia king but it's listed under grilled chicken and I wanted fried chicken, so I just ordered the godmother instead. I'm glad I made the switch as I ended up really liking it. The sandwich is a pretty big portion, I saved half for dinner. It was juicy and actually dripping in sauce, which shows the sandwich was not dry at all. I went during lunch hour on a weekday and it was pretty crowded inside, but it wasn't difficult to get a seat. By the time I finished waiting for my food, some tables had cleared up. Also, the lady at the counter was very nice. She offered me the menu when she saw I was reading the menu on the wall. I'll definitely come back to get the godmother again and maybe even try the focaccia king since a lot of reviews show it with fried chicken.

Sandwiches are terrific. I love the bread selection! This is a build your own skirt steak sandwich with mozzarella. Excellent.

This establishment never disappoints!! The sandwiches are delicious and full of flavor. The portion is pretty generous as well. The place is small so not much seating inside. I think you will be happy with any sandwich you choose!

Glad to report that Montagu's has upped their game recently. Well stuffed sandwiches with thin-sliced fresh meat, crunchy chicken and large salads. Well worth a visit.

this is one of my favorite sandwich spots in the city as a serve up, huge delicious sandwiches and even salads and other bowls. Every time I've ordered a sandwich from here, I usually save the other half to eat the next day and when reheated sometimes tastes even better! I love getting the godmother while my boyfriend likes experimenting with different types of sandwiches all which have been winners. I've even gotten some salads from here before and they are absolutely huge and worth the price as I always save half of it to eat for dinner or lunch the next day. There is very limited seating inside, but during the warmer weather, they put chairs and tables outside so you can enjoy your sandwich there. Everything is fresh and the staff is very friendly there - whenever I place an order for pick up I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes.

Nice Sandwich. The chicken cutlet was very well seasoned, the vodka sauce wasn't my favorite but it had a good Sandwich. However, the monthly special was over 19 dollars which I think is a bit too much.

Rarely ever leave reviews- but these were the most flavorful, easy to eat, and memorable sandwiches we had in nyc. The S3 Corona Steak had my favorite flavor combo of fruity/salty-savory with brie cheese, fig, and med rare steak, and I absolutely loved it. Bf got the Focaccia King, and on his first bite his eyes were bulging out haha. Called it the best chicken cutlet sandwich he's had, and he loves chicken cutlet sandwiches. Came from watching a tiktok video of the place and potentially found the best sandwich shop in the city. The grilled pineapple gave apple pie with the cinnamon/sugar and was such a nice way to end the meal! The ingredients look super fresh and quality is top tier!

Hands down, the brisket sandwich at Montagu's Gusto is a GAME CHANGER! The tender, smoky brisket was piled high and paired perfectly with the fresh, crunchy toppings. The bread was soft and slightly toasted to perfection. I've been to plenty of steak sandwich joints, but Montagu's Gusto's take on brisket is top-notch. If you're a meat sandwich lover like me, do NOT miss the brisket sandwich here. 10/10, would recommend!!!

I'm so happy I found this place, my salad was delicious. It's a very small takeout with a few tables to sit and eat. The service was fast and accurate. They have a fairly large menu of sandwiches and salads. I will definitely be returning to try other items on the menu.

Ordered the focaccia king sandwich for delivery, which I saw was highly rated. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. The sandwich was big, which was great, but the chicken was unflavorful and dry. The focaccia was also dry (almost grainy?) and didn't have any flavour. Overall just didn't have much flavour and was dry. Also couldn't really taste any sauce. I'm so sad because I wanted to love this place, but perhaps my sandwich was just an anomaly. Hopefully I'll get to try another sandwich sometime

Great find and barely made it before closing. Small shop just outside of the tunnel going into the city. We were 10 minutes before closing and the staff was cleaning up but happy to take the order. Didn't have time to look through the menu, so many choices so showed a photo of a sandwich I found when searching for the place and said "I'll take that!". They figured out what it was and I added fries. My coworker ordered the same after changing from chips. We had a 15 minute walk to our hotel and pounded these down there. Did find we were only given one fry but also only charged for one fry so our bad on confusion during quick ordering. Ordered medium red and was a little past that but probably kept cooking on the walk. Check out the pic. Sandwich was just plain delicious. Not as big as the pic online but a good sized sandwich and so good. The steak (skirt I think) was beefy, tender, tasty and easy to bite through. Flavors of the steak and toppings were on point and everything went together so well. Just a great sandwich all around. Only negative were the fries. Moist/soggy not salty. Could not really eat them. If you're short for time and want a great sandwich, don't go to a chain. Stop at Montagu's Gusto, skip the fries but grab a solid, tasty, almost gourmet NY sandwich here! You won't be disappointed.

Just ordered a catered lunch for 80 that was amazing. The sandwiches ware excellent to great. My favorite was the chicken cutlet with cheese and bacon. The green salads were really good. The two pasta salads were amazing. The presentation was excellent and the food was delivered on time. I would happily order from them again.

No other place manages to deliver this level of quality. You should try their flavorful food options. The range of dishes impresses and staff complements the food. Montagu's Gusto provided solid service while I enjoyed time with friends. My new local area is enhanced by this restaurant.

Yelp gets it right again. Solid four star sandwich stop. Lots of salad and sandwich options. Workers super friendly and efficient. Chicken a bit chewy - steak was stored cold and heated on the grill- Tried their two most popular.sandwiches - a chicken avocado w chipotle dressing and arugula- A skirt steak and cheese baguette- tough and chewy. Next visit would go for a good looking salad I saw the Avacadito. That was clearly their winner.

Video on YouTube brings me here. It says the shop is known for its skirt steak sandwich and focaccia bread, and that's what I tried. Overall, it's a reasonable sandwich with resealable price. I was expecting to have a beefier flavors since that should be the feature of a skirt steak. In ordered to made a tough cut steak tender, they finely sliced the meat. However, it cause the juice of meat soaking into the focaccia bread, made the too moist that can barely hold the shape. The focaccia itself was soft, garlicy but not crunchy. As for arugula, it really compensated the beef, make the sandwich more lively. Small shop with around 10 seats and a window bar, no waiting at a Friday noon. Staff is welcoming. Good place for a bite of lunch.

Pass on Montagu's Gusto especially for delivery. We ordered two sandwiches "all you need is love" which comes with pastrami, Swiss, and mustard" and a "freshly squeezed" orange juice and "hand made" bagel. We called to request tomatoes, lettuce, and extra pickles for our sandwiches. We didn't get any pickles or lettuce and tomato and we couldn't find the cheese or mustard. It was just a few pieces of pastrami on bread for an order total of $46.85. I called them about the pickles and they said that's extra and I said we could have paid for it and why didn't they tell me and they said with delivery, they get notes all the time from customers and ignore them. Whaaaat? The orange juice tasted sour and grocery store juice would have been better. Their plain bagel they sent, as pictured was rock hard and dry. How is this place still in business?

I have eaten at a lot of delis in my time, but this place is elevated beyond belief! A true hidden gem in the heart of Manhattan. This place is a go to for any, and all of your sandwich needs! I tried the Buffon, which had fresh, melted cheese and soft bread just the way I like Yum! And then I took the uncle Vinnie home, it had the most amazing and fresh ingredients from the prosciutto to the bread. I cannot express enough. I ate one and a half of each in the car. I could not wait until I got home, if you're in the area definitely stop by. And they have a variety of other healthy options for lunch, especially salads, health, shots, and other products.

The rabe babe was a good, solid vegetarian sandwich! I subbed pesto for honey sriracha, and thought the ingredients were fresh. That being said, it was nothing mindblowing, and I wish the bread was toasted (it seemed a bit stale). I'm sure their meat products r better but alas I'm vegetarian. The kind staff were deeply apologetic when they made a initial mistake on my order, and for that I squeeze them into a 4 stars. Thanks team!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Came across it while looking for breakfast in my neighborhood, and couldn't resist getting a sandwich after seeing the mouthwatering pictures. Anyone who knows me, knows that I hate sandwiches with a passion -- even if I was starving and someone offered me a free sandwich, I'd rather not eat at all -- that's how much I hate them. But I was dying to get a sandwich from here and it did not disappoint. I got The Godmother, and typically I don't like sandwiches because I think they are bland and the ingredients I see displayed don't look very fresh. But the ingredients here looked so fresh and clean, and the sandwich was so flavorful. I'm so excited to come back and try more of their sandwiches. Seriously, as a sandwich hater, the way this place wants me coming back for more and satisfied my taste buds says a lot. Highly recommend!!!!!

Amazing sandwiches! Lots of variety whether you want a wrap, grain bowl, and much more. Definitely an excellent choice for a quick lunch pick up.

Great sandwich but a bit expensive for the size. I've been to a couple of Italian sandwich places and a comparable sandwich is around $13-14 . This is about $15-18 here depending on what you get. Places like pisillo in Flatiron and tonys deli in whitestone give u a sub hero size for cheaper. Meats are tasty but not sure if worth the price point for sandwich size.

Ordered takeout from here via postmates - the order was delivered warm and quickly. However, you can't make any modifications, so if you don't like cheese, mayo, etc you're out of luck. We got a steak bowl, Havana Cuba, and William: Steak bowl - great portion size, tasty and lots of side options Havana Cuba - good but a lot smaller than expected and less filling/cheese than other reviewers' photos William - massive, a huge portion of chicken. Tasty sauce and a good spice level

Hey's very crowded during lunch time but the sandwiches are pretty delicious. They have an extensive menu with plenty of veg options. My favorite that I've tried so far is the rabe babe. Will have to come by and make my own salad next time. Prices are as to be expected of the area, but they do stuff the sandwiches pretty well. The staff is very sweet as well and I appreciate that they are all still masking. Not a lot of seating inside, so definitely more of a takeout place.

You have not made the right choice if you've ever decided against Monties here; if you've dove in I truly hope it was head first into a pile of their amazing sandwiches; from my hood to yours, I genuinely think this is one of Murray Hills shining stars. I've had a plethora of the options @ Montagus Gusto, from the Williams Style to the Cuban, Sinatra, the dear Emma and the Corona Steak... all and more! All were satisfying to say the least. Hands down a no brained and I still have more to try!

I usually really love this spot but tried a different chicken sandwich with chipotle sauce. I was a bit dissappinted the sauce wasn't creamy but instead more like chopped up peppers. The sandwich was still good just not the flavor I was expecting.

Initial experience at this sandwich spot surpassed expectations. Tried the Frank Sinatra's Style Sandwich which was absolutely delicious! Generous sandwich portion with the perfect meat quantity, and the bread was both fresh and tasty. I love Italian sandwiches and am constantly seeking out new spots to try them. Will definitely order from here again. Very impressed.

Solid neighborhood option for excellent salads and sandwiches. They are a little pricey but the portions are sizable and the quality is always consistent. My go tos are the Spicy Rainbow Thai salad with chicken and the Cuban sandwich.

By far the best tasting sandwiches that I've had! New York just can't be beat when it comes to food. And this adds to the many great places to have amazing unique sandwiches. The sandwich that stood out the most was the Corona Steak. They use quality steak that is very juicy and full of flavor. Then they add chimichurri and tahini sauce to the sandwich but you never lose the flavor of the meat. I would drive into the city just for this sandwich alone. My second favorite is the Havana Cuba which comes loaded with pernil and jamon. I've had many Cuban sandwiches but this one tops them all. Here, they get your order out fast! They get large orders so I suggest to order ahead. They also have a good tasting chai tea and coffee. The breakfast sandwich was also good and the pancho villa. Clean, nice staff, fresh food! There is comfortable and ample seating in the space and they offer a lot for very good prices.
