We were in the area for dinner and wanted to grab some cocktails after. The interior was really laid back and the they had an amazing nostalgic indie pop music playlist on. Had a super delicious mezcal cocktail with tajin oil. Highly recommend this place for the vibes and drinks!

This place is truly beautiful!! Amazing patio, super friendly staff, great service , amazing food and drinks! Everything is just perfect! Definitely coming back

Google
Great drinks, amazing service, and hella chill vibes. Can't wait to come back to Montauk. I ended up at Montauk on a whim and had such a good time that I had to go again for my last night in Toronto. Chris and Esteban were super laid-back and made sure I always had a drink in hand. And after a night of spicy margs and shots, the best moment was when Chris told me I could grab a steamie (I had two). I hope I can make it for an upcoming trivia night!

Google
Chris was awesome when we came a few weeks ago! We'll definitely be back. The cocktails are delicious!

Google
A true neighbourhood gem. I will never turn down a chance to pop in and say hello to Mike, Will, James and all the other friendly faces. A great spot to enjoy a Boulevardier made with Signal Hill Whisky, a Crystal Head Vodka Moscow Mule or a grilled cheese sandwich ! Honestly these people are some of the good ones we should be supporting. Make sure when this lockdown ends you go down to Montauk and show support to these legends.

I’m in search of top of the tops cocktail bar and I’m happy I’ve visited Montauk bar. It is cozy inside, very intimate feels, and perfect for a date or catching up with a friend. Niko and the other gentleman were very pleasant to chat with. I had the chance to try the Meet Cutie drink (my fave so far!) and the House Plant (this reminds me of Seth Rogan lol). I was supposed to order Good Grief next but my night’s plan changed. I will definitely come back again and try the other cocktails! Thank you so much for making my night 👌🏻👌🏻

Google
Amazing neighborhood gem - have been here a few times for cocktails but most recently rented the bar out for a birthday party! Chris + staff were great at making sure we had fun, keeping the music bumping and the drinks flowing. Minimum spend is very reasonable & drinks are the most affordable in the area. Would definitely host another event here - perfect for 30-60 person events.

fantastic vibes, music selection was fire and the staff are super friendly and attentive. the cocktails are also super tasty at a reasonable price, definitely coming back

Yelp
Your typical dive bar. The bartender seemed to be more interested in serving his buddies/regulars than a solo new patron like me. The drink menu is also not very impressive.

Yelp
Yesterday evening, 7 friends and I stopped in here for a nightcap after visiting another venue nearby. We were seated on their makeshift patio and enjoyed being able to people watch on both sides of us. Several of us - including myself - ordered their Time Bomb: Watermelon Lemonade beer to drink and I found it quite refreshing and good. We had good service and an enjoyable time. Inside is fairly small.
google avatar

Elaine K.

Yelp
A very small bar with dark wood, black pipes and low lighting. So a perfect spot for an intimate date. The bartender was super friendly and they have some great cocktail specials.

Yelp
Amazing vibes, amazing cocktails, unparalleled bar tenders. If you want to have a great night getting kick ass drinks from cool people..come here. Doug especially is one of a kind. Champion of whiskey shots.

Yelp
Great bar go some nice cocktails. Lots of wood and amber lighting. Great service. Really creative and well balanced cocktails. A lot of nice bourbon cocktails but they have a great gin and rum based ones as well. Lots of beer as well if you prefer that. Music is always good too.

Yelp
It's a small place but makes for intimate and personal conversations. I liked the dim lighting as well as the light fixtures, quick service and reasonably priced drinks. To drink I got a Bellini which was good (not the best I've had, but good). It came as a liquid and not a slush consistency which is what I'm used to from past experiences. I will say that it you've come here for something to eat then go elsewhere as I don't think they have any food. As for our bartender, he didn't do anything out of the ordinary to make our experience great--he just did his job and that was that. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again in the future.

Yelp
What's all the fuss about? This place is just okay. The space is small, the drinks are small, the prices are high. I didn't LOVE any of the cocktails I tried...they were just okay. There are better cocktail bars out there.

Yelp
If there was only a 6th star, I would be all about giving Montauk Bar this high honour right now. They've mixed me the craziest cocktails. They've named whiskey menus after Robyn's Call Your Girlfriend (I'm listening to it right now). They've seen me at my worst and still always treat me like I'm the best. They're all really strapping men.* I just can't find enough good words to say about this place, above all else they're creative, scrappy and good for the hood. I just asked the owner if I could bring a confetti cannon in tonight for a celebration,** and he obliged... like come on. Does it get any better? This summer when you're finished at the hipster pool nearby, just come here for a drink. Don't go all the way back to Ossington or Parkdale. You want The shit, not the Same Ol' shit. *Seriously. Dustin. Do you require headshots with resumes? The ladies (and many boys) thank you. **Don't do this to a bar owner. It's mean.

Yelp
Josh made a couple great drinks for me and my friend, had it not been for whiskylicious I would have never made it into the place. Now, I'm upset I live too far away to visit frequently. Loved the atmosphere and the bartender was extremely friendly and knew his booze.
google avatar

Yelp
Cool vibe. Dark interior with wood, pipes, and light bulbs. I hate it when a drink is on the menu but is no longer available. That's always a disappointment. Rub off the chalk and replace it with something else, please. The votive candles seemed very ironic. Irony for the hipsters I suppose? I saw photos of this place on BlogTO and the bartenders looked way happier than they did last night. Don't order the house wine.

Yelp
Went here to wait for my bf to get off of work so we can go to Good Hombres for dinner. The bartender was really friendly - he let me charge my phone. I don't remember the name of the cocktail that I had other than it being served in a martini glass, having a bit of lavender in it (or was it elderflower?) and it was rather good. There's no food here unfortunately (which I found out while I was starving...) so I would suggest adding maybe fries or perogies? Just a small food menu would be nice :)

Yelp
If you are in for a cocktail treat, this is the place to be! Well created and innovative cocktails with a perfect date like atmosphere. Must visit if you are into fancy cocktails

Yelp
Sweet location good vibes and friendly service. Also, knowledgeable staff have drinks and excellent selection of liquor. Came here late on a Tuesday night to grab a drink before heading out of town and I was very impressed by everything also people they're just super nice and I was super cool. Will deathly come here again
google avatar

Delphine D.

Yelp
Went there on a Monday. Nice dim light atmosphere, nice rock music (but not too loud so that we can hear each other speaking). Nice cocktails (the list is not huge, but descent) and convenient location! Must be too crowded on weekends, though.
google avatar

Mel G.

Yelp
Awesome bar! The guys make incredible cocktails and I love their wines - particularly the graffigna pinot grigio really great spot to head with friends for a chill drink. Fun old school music too!

Yelp
Great little place on Dundas in Toronto! Bartender was very nice, and made the best drinks! A definite place to return to on next visit!
google avatar

Yelp
Great ambiance, music and awesome service (bouncer and the bartender)! Lots of local beer choices, and apparently cocktails are delish (I'm not a cocktail drinker!). Love the dim lights and industrial feel of the place - great for a chill night to lounge around and hang out with friends over drinks! Would have given this place a 5 star if they had more food options (only offers jerky and pepperettes). So come after dinner!!
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
I love this place, I wish I was there right now. Here are the things you need to know about Montauk - 1.) It is a warm port in a storm 2.) They have Manhattans on tap 3.) They have delish nuts and nibbles behind the bar 4.) Their bartender is a wizard among men with cocktails. Just give him a liquor and and he can make magic happen. 5.) Decor is awesome! 6.) They have Manhattans on tap. Go there, go on!

Yelp
The most appealing thing about this place was the drink menu, charmingly hand written on the wall. We ordered the tame impala ($9), which was very tasty. A little on the sweet side, but who's complaining? Also, the Manhattan on tap (VERY cool idea), fell short of our expectations. It felt unbalanced. First come first serve seating style, no food available, DJ up top who played some decent music. Call me grandma but it was a bit loud and everyone had to yell to converse. But that's bar life I suppose. The bartenders seemed indifferent to our presence. You have to go up to the bar to order and even that took way longer than it should. When one guy cleared our empty glasses off the table, I thought he would offer another round. But not a word. You'd think they would try to pump out more booze to guests. Our experience wasn't exactly customer service oriented. That was the most unappealing thing. Although the cocktail was yummy, there are many other spots in the city where you can get great cocktails AND great customer service that makes you want to go back. Unfortunately, this place didn't make the list for me.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place based on Blog TO's review so I decided to check it out. First impressions are important so when a customer walks into your bar, don't ignore them. Neither of the bartenders (who did not seem busy) acknowledged me until I asked for a table and a drink menu. The menu is on a chalk board on the wall and the print was so tiny & smudged that it was not visible to the human eye. So I just ordered a martini. It was good. They should really consider getting a printed menu. I sat at the front end of the bar on a stool that was far too short for the height of the bar. I felt like a child who couldn't see what all the grown-ups were doing. After my companion arrived, we moved to a table and the music became obnoxiously loud. My friend and I were shouting at each other. Not ideal. They should considering lowering the volume. That said, the place itself is just fine (standard hipster cocktail bar but not fancy by any means which is what I expected based on "$$$"). The wooden table was chipping away and it put a hole in my stocking! If I'm in the hood, I will stop by again. Sure. But next time I'll wear pants. As for the name, I can't say that this place is reminiscent of Montauk itself. Oh well!

Yelp
Sick of waiting in an hour and a half line for Uniun, my boyfriend and I stumbled upon Montauk. We didn't know what it was, we just saw lights and hoped for a bar. Wow. No line, no cover. I'd take that over waiting in a 2 hr line any day! The place was small and busy. We liked the music the DJ was playing. I guess this is a hipster bar? I looked very different in my leather heeled sandals and white, backless dress. Most people were dressed in jeans and boots. I thought it was odd for summer, but it was cold so I was probably the one that didn't get the memo. To drink my boyfriend and I had tallboys of Steigl ($7 each). Speaking of drinks, I think I saw the drunkest people in all of Toronto at Montauk. Seriously. They were doing the wave. Everyone was friendly, striking up a conversation with me. The bench running along the wall was comfy and possibly velour. The bathrooms are back behind the bar, past the dj. It looked really sketchy... like peeling paint, half-hazard black drapes hung up. I was a little scared. The single person bathrooms were okay though. Neat place, good beer. I wouldn't be opposed to going back.

Yelp
Came here Friday night on a recommendation from a friend who thought I'd like it. Well, I'm glad I have friends who know me well. Favourite part was definitely the decor. Very charming woodsy atmosphere, almost rustic. Wood everything, chalkboard walls, and an antler tap. (?) The bar is small but my group managed to snag some tables. I'd guess there's seating for maybe 30 people inside, plus another 5-10 at the bar on the bar stools. Props for a clean bathroom, which is always a plus at a bar. The bartenders were very nice and knowledgeable-- as an ultimate test, my friend (who was several drinks in at this point) asked for a "sweet drink a small Korean girl would enjoy" and they delivered. I wish I knew what the drink was, but I guess it'll serve as an excuse to return until the mystery is solved. Their beer got thumbs ups from my friends who ordered beer. I wasn't aware there was space upstairs until I saw the other reviews, so now I guess I have even more reason to return!

Yelp
I came here after work to meet a friend and I really like the ambience there. It's just steps from the corner of Dundas and Bathurst and very easy to miss. It's pretty small and comfy and it definitely feels like a stereotypical hipster bar and I surely stood out from the other people there as I wasn't sporting a beard, very skinny pants, lumberjack shirt, boots and chunky eyewear. I sampled a couple of their popular cocktails which were ready in no time. I like the combination of ingredients but I found them to be a bit on the sweet side and not boozy enough. They went down like water. I was surprised to see Manhattans and Sazeracs on tap, but when I asked the bartender how were they he said that they were okay. So as much as I like my Manhattans, I decided to skip this on tap despite the novelty factor, though it's reasonably priced at $7. I really like the fast and friendly service and will come back again to try their other cocktails.
google avatar

Albert T.

Yelp
Expert cocktail list, but the bar can get a little chi-chi on weekends. On a Wednesday you can get a spot at the bar, the bartenders are playing T Rex or Notorious, and it's pretty perfect. Try the Manhattan on tap or ask the bartender for a recommendation.

Yelp
I went here for a quick drink before dinner at Campagnolo, and I was really sad that we didn't have more time to stay. While spending hours on end in Montauk on an empty stomach is probably not a good investment in tomorrow-me, I probably would have indulged if we hadn't booked a reservation in advance. In any event, this is just one of those bars that you want to start spending all your time in right away. It's cozy, they have a great cocktail list and they have Negronis on tap (uh-maz-ing). Service was friendly. This is something that I've never said in a review before, but I think the servers were really good at reading how much they should interact with each group. Some people wanted to chat with them a bit more, while others were clearly having more intimate conversations. In any event, I will most definitely be back. Though, next time, I'll make sure that it's for after dinner when I have a good solid foundation on which to develop my intoxication.

Yelp
Montauk in name only but a relaxing spot. Any of you who think this has a Brooklyn hipster (should I mention hipsters are worthless pieces of empty space) vibe should have a lobotomy and force fed geography class on NY state (Montauk is about 120 miles from Brooklyn..). Having grown up frequenting the real town many times I can deduce that some Torontonian wanted to create a chill out bar that sort of is the vibe of Montauk (Montauk NY is really more New England and thankfully not even remotely close in vibe to the Hamptons). Honestly, I sort of wonder if the owner of this bar has spent more than a weekend in Montauk...nothing remotely nautical or anything outside of some NY themed drinks. As a bar however on face value it was a pleasant spot. PS..a Manhattan cocktail on tap is kind of tacky (think Jagermeister)..make them from scratch.
google avatar

Simon H.

Yelp
A solid lounge in a solid strip. The cocktails are made with effort and expertise. Had to fight for a stool at the bar, but got there eventually. Best manhattan on Dundas.
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
I real small joint but they make killer cocktails, serve everyone accordingly and play sick jams. Kendrick Lamar Daft Punk The Strokes At least 4-6 songs each, loved it!

Yelp
Montauk Bar (incongruously named after a small beach town at the tip of Long Island) is a pretty good bet for a decent cocktail in a very nice setting. Atmosphere: After coming from a crappy dive bar, Montauk was an oasis of clean concrete and filament bulbs. There's a nice bar area with a bunch of table seating as well. It's not huge so I can imagine it fills up as the night goes on. We were there a bit on the early side of a Saturday night and the vibe was pretty laid back. Drinks: Cheaper than the aforementioned crappy dive bar which was a definite plus. They were all kind of a little weird though... not bad per se... but just different. We ordered a couple of classic cocktails (a Sazerac and the Last Word) both of which we've had many many times before. The Last Word was relatively true to the original, but the Sazerac was... strange... again... not altogether bad... just not as expected. In any case, we had a good experience here and would for sure come back if ever we're in the The Great White North.
google avatar

Nathalie R.

Yelp
Came in after reading some reviews. Maybe my hopes were higher than I thought cause this bar is overrated. And people are right, the place is small and wayyyyy too loud. I actually had to go outside to talk to my friend - it was almost like a club with how obnoxiously loud it was. It's a gorgeous place, and the lights were a nice touch, but there's not much that makes this bar special, not even the drinks. I will probably come back just to see if the third time really could be the charm, but I'll wait till the ringing in my ears stop.
google avatar

Anni D.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends at opening time. I had one of the featured cocktails and it tasted like a whisky sour. Not going to lie, they have some pretty creative names for their cocktails. Only if they taste just as good! None of my friends tasted anything special/different with their cocktails either. The atmosphere probably would have been much better later in the night. But since we went at 8pm, I can't really comment that the vibe is not good.
google avatar

Abby M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick pre-dinner cocktail. I had the Montauk, which was just ok. Beer prices seemed a bit steep - $8 for a pint of Beau's which you can get down the street for $6.50 in Kensington. Service was friendly. Very small bar but nice atmosphere. Dark and industrial with some Jesus/Mary candles lighting the tables.
google avatar

Tucker S.

Yelp
Really cool spot on Dundas west. Great cocktails and great music. A bit pricey depending on what your poison is - but it's totally worth it. Bartenders know what they're doing too. Gets super busy on certain nights and can be a lot of shoulder bumping. So be sure to get there early

Yelp
This place has the coolest ambience! My husband has a thing for trying new bars and I love it when he finds these little gems. Montauk is not little.. its very popular but I say little gem because my husband and I are new to Toronto and are still exploring these places. We went here after dinner at Queen Margherita Pizza (thats another review I did but do check it out if interested) and Montauk is very close to it. We walked up to the door and they have a doorman (looks more like a bouncer type). Now we knew that you don't get to reserve a table here, its first come first serve and luckily for us we found a table right away. There is this tiny mezzanine level where the DJ has a setup and the music is really good. One entire wall has a menu on it, you go open a tab at the bar and get the party started. Some of the drinks we had were the Toronto, Endswell, Tame Impala and a few more which I don't remember cause I was pretty tipsy by then. All the drinks were good but my least favourite was Endswell (which seemed to be everyone's favourite) The place was crowded and the vibe was cool. And maybe it was this vibe but the people at bar was really friendly and its an easy place to start a conversation with strangers. Will definitely go back!
google avatar

E R.

Yelp
Appalled at the staff's behavior and attitudes. Wanna-be aggro bouncers posing as pretentious hipster bartenders. And from the reviews, not the first time they've been described like this. Does any other legit cocktail bar in town have or need a bouncer? Probably a sign you're in the wrong place. Run away.
google avatar

Andrew R.

Yelp
Service was good - the man was attentive and very nice. We ordered the paper plane - overall it was an average bar. Very simple and not very memorable. 3.5 may be more accurate.

J A.

Yelp
Just yes! Small intimate great atmosphere fantastic cocktails. Can't go wrong -- great whisky prohibition style drinks.

Yelp
This places is the bee's knees. Such great vibes and good drinks to boot. Service is on point and the crowd is great. You can't just come here once. I visited some friends in Toronto and am so glad they showed me this spot. Order a Tame Impala, you won't regret it!

Sam L.

Yelp
My favorite bar in Toronto. It really reminded of Montauk NY. Super laid back, great vibes and great drinks. My dude Chris made me an awesome cocktail and then gave my friends and me a round of shots on the house. Would definitely recommend.

Matt C.

Yelp
Amazing service. It's run by two guys who love everything about running a bar, and one of them, Chris, came over and was just super friendly the entire time. We couldn't decide which of their cocktails to get, so he just asked us for what kind of drinks we liked and mixed all 3 of us our own custom drink and it was actually cheaper than a normal cocktail. We told him it was our first time in Canada, and he immediately started telling us about everything cool about Toronto and the entire country, then brought 5 shots over to our table and the three of us, Chris, and the other bartender (forgot to catch his name, but also super friendly) all did shots together, and really it was just an awesome way to end the night. The atmosphere was super relaxed and friendly (they let us order food into the bar too) and overall would definitely make sure to come back if we ever made it back to Toronto.

Pouneh R.

Yelp
I love it! I went there on Friday night, it's only been open for a week and the bar was packed. There is a tiny space on the second floor where a band was playing. I'd say its a great space to book in advance for a birthday party and get a cool band play. It's a small space but very well designed. Great place to go for a drink or two. No table and chairs there so don't expect to get cozy. Overall cool crowd and good vibe.

Pat M.

Yelp
Went to visit the charming Dustin , who owes this establishment. Very nice vibe and nice décor. Drinks are very creative and made professionally by the bartender Josh. Very cool place to hang out.

Yelp
This was my second time going there .....and I've experienced better bars ! The music was way too loud , the waiter looked miserable and my friend and I DRINKING cups were dirty !
google avatar

Natalie B.

Yelp
The owner of this bar is way cool. Meet me... in Montauk...
google avatar

Christina W.

Yelp
My friend and I were visiting Toronto and we stumbled upon this bar on a Friday evening. We decided to stop in and grab a drink before exploring other bars in the area. This bar definitely has the Brooklyn hipster vibe. The bartender was knowledgable about cool and hip places to check out. I had the Kensington brewery beer, a watermelon wheat beer, which was good but not great. My girlfriend ordered the tame impala, a tequila, ginger beer and chai tea cocktail. It was sooo good! Highly recommend that cocktail!

Mila V.

Yelp
Love the ambiance of this gem of a bar. Dj Illacuts (aka Ben) was playing 90s rnb throwbacks and the supa fly cocktails with fun names made it just right. Giving it a 4 star only because the bartender took forever to take our order + get us our bill; typical TO arrogance.
google avatar

Maureen E.

Yelp
I had a bad experience here. The owner was combative when I asked a question and told me he could kick people out of his establishment for any reason . I disagreed and told him he could be sued if he refused to serve a patron based on discrimination. He argued and became really agitated. When I tried to lighten up the conversation he continued to badger me. So I just paid my bill & left. I'll never return . It's too bad because I frequent so many places in the neighbourhood (Bar Raval for over a year & on first name basis with everyone & the new French Place Coq of the Walk & even Old School & Dundas Video Bar) and all the other owners treat me very well, welcome me with a smile, really appreciate my business and my company. And they tell me so. My friend told me that the Old Fashion Cocktail she ordered was not good at all. This guy needs to learn how to treat customers . So I agree with the guy who said he wasn't treated well here.

Yelp
We wandered over here on Saturday night. Nice place. Small and cozy, cute decor. A wide range of drinks. Pretty casual atmosphere. No dance floor here though, as one of our companions noted on a number of occasions. There's a peculiar taco stand at the back, with unmarked pricing, but overall it's a cool vibe.
google avatar

Shannon F.

Yelp
I like this place. Small, intimate, great cocktails, comfortable seating arrangements, attractive, slightly older (+30) clientele. I've been twice - two separate birthdays - one was for a 30th that had rented out the place during a snow storm and we still packed the place. Delicious cocktails made with care by the staff and a fun space to have to ourselves. The second birthday was a 35th on a Saturday night and while it was packed it was a lot of fun, good music, good crowd and same delicious cocktails.
