NYC Bagel Shop Black Seed Bagels Closes in East Village | Eater NY

"A new cafe in Greenpoint at 387 Manhattan Avenue, near Frost Street, opened on March 29. Co-owners Sladjana and Ivan, who run barbershop Monteman Barber just a block away, said, "We wanted to bring a dash of coffee culture from back home, where people truly enjoy their time spent sipping coffee," the two told the blog. The cafe takes its cues from the coffee shops of Montenegro and features coffee and French and Italian pastries." - Nadia Chaudhury

Hidden gem, best coffee in Williamsburg! Pastries taste great too. Owner Evan is a big part of our local community - he really cares about every customer and pays attention to the little things, which is rare in hospitality these days. 10/10 recommend

Nicole was awesome! Asked her about specials and she came up with this pumpkin cold foam. Really fun and different from a normal PSL. Very inviting place to stop for a coffee imo.

Google
Charming new coffee shop with a lovely vibe and really friendly baristas. The coffee was perfect and the croissants are made from grain imported from Italy and baked onsite and they are goooooood with 7 ‘o’s (and very reasonably priced.)

The perfect spot for a coffee and relaxing when you have the time. The barista was very friendly and easy to make conversation with. I got the iced matcha latte and was impressed with the quality! I will definitely return!

I found this newer shop today near the corner of Manhattan Ave. It was shortly after closing, but they graciously welcomed me in and I tried their cold brew. It was very smooth and perfectly balanced! The shop is cozy and the staff is friendly. I will be back! 😍

The best coffee and service in NYC! If you need a gentleman’s haircut head to Monteman barber too. Same owners and same exceptional service. Love this place!

Yelp
Montemug: For the Coffee Enthusiasts Stopped into Montemug and ordered the Kotor Café (inspired by the Montenegro region). It had a bold, rich profile but was incredibly smooth--easily one of the more memorable cups I've had in Brooklyn. The space itself is bright and welcoming, and the staff were warm and attentive. You can tell the owners (Evan and his wife) really care about what they're doing. If you're into thoughtfully crafted coffee, Montemug should definitely be on your list. I'll be back soon.

Yelp
About a 2-2.5: montemug coffee is a newer cute coffee shop that had just opened up in Williamsburg - I was super excited to check them out while in the area, so we stopped by in the morning. They have coffee, and even some yummy pastries, too, like muffins and croissants - I absolutely loved their plain croissant, as it was warm, flaky, and buttery! Both chai and the matcha were very mediocre, which was disappointing. There was only one staff member, so there was a bit of a wait; she could have communicated better, as patrons were confused on whether to pay first, or to pay afterwards, as some parties were allowed to sit and enjoy their items first, and some parties were snapped at to pay up first - just weird and uncomfortable, and not sure what criteria was being used for this. Space is adorable with about 10 seats inside, and some seats available outdoors. +great warm croissants +avoid their drinks +indoor and outdoor seating available

Yelp
5 Stars - A Hidden Gem in Brooklyn! Montemug is an absolute gem of a coffee shop tucked into a beautiful little corner of Brooklyn. I stopped by for a latte and a pistachio-flavored croissant--and wow. Both were phenomenal. The latte was perfectly balanced and smooth, and the croissant had just the right amount of sweetness with that rich pistachio flavor. Truly one of the best I've had. The service is also exceptional--friendly, warm, and efficient. I'm lucky enough to personally know the owners, Annie and Evan, both locals who are deeply committed to the community. Evan has been my barber and friend for over 5 years through Monteman Barber, and I couldn't be more excited to see this next chapter with Montemug take off. Bonus points: they've got vegan options too--for all my plant-based Brooklyn folks out there, you're covered. I've posted a photo of the latte and croissant for you to see--highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area or just want to support a genuinely great, locally-owned business. This place is already a favorite, and I can't wait to watch it thrive!

Yelp
I'm so glad that this coffee shop has opened up so close to my apartment! I want to enjoy their creamy coffee, blueberry muffins, and great service every day. Especially on weekends when I can sit down and read my book by the window.
