Monterey Bay Fish Grotto

This restaurant was referred to us by many locals, both for the view and the food… and they were right. The service was excellent, with Erin our waitress and Anna, the manager who came by and chatted with us. They have a nice selection of wines and whiskeys. I had the Sweet Rust Bourbon, a special blend local for the restaurant. I had the Red Snapper and my wife had the Shrimp Florentine, both of which were excellent. The view is amazing and valet parking ($8) is very convenient.

Food was very good, service excellent, music was great, and the view was amazing. Even the drinks were good and fairly priced. So why only 4 stars? For the elevated price you pay the small extras were missing, I wasn't offered cracked pepper with my Cesar salad, no grated cheese for my pasta and the crab cakes were served with no garnish, just 2 crab cakes on a blank plate.

Absolutely adored this atmosphere because the music was great and I wish we came Friday to enjoy the live music. Our waiter downstairs made sure to give us background on all the drinks so we knew we would love the choice we made or could adjust. The presentation and craftsmanship of cocktail was above and beyond. Now onto the meal. You NEED to with a group get the tower and spilt. If the have the crab bisque, DON’T miss out. I had the salmon and a it was a perfect lighter meal but still I felt full after. For my birthday and my friends we got champagne and dessert for free! Our waitress was the best waitress I’ve had in ages and was so knowledgable of the menu. She didn’t need to read anything or write anything down she was excellent. It was a fantastic evening, view and meal. If I could I’d flight out to have this dinner every year on my birthday!

Absolutely amazing restaurant and experience! We went here for our first wedding anniversary and I was blown away with the service and food. They started with a complimentary glass of champagne for the anniversary and the server was so kind and attentive. The floor manager was on top of everything as well. We ordered the seafood platter which includes Cajun shrimp, a skewer with Tuna, Swordfish and Salmon, and a crab cake. It was a great way to taste a bit of everything. We then ordered the salmon with mango salsa and the summer sea bass, which included a tajin watermelon topping. I loved both but the sea bass was phenomenal! We also ordered the Mexican street corn which was so good. The bread and butter was also delicious with the butter having an onion flavor. The dessert though was the best I have ever had. The Angel Food Cake Grilled Cheese is a must have! They even added an anniversary extra one for us. It is quite expensive to eat here but it is definitely worth it for the food and the views.

The starters weren't really a great... start but the main dishes pulled through. The oysters were mediocre, didn't taste of anything. I would have also liked to see a more creative topping. The filet mignon sliders were very soggy and the bottom bun disintegrated as we picked it up. But it was paired with a very flavourful beef bone broth. Both the Chilean sea bass and red snapper were unique and delicious in different ways! The Chilean sea bass was fresh and light while the red snapper was a comforting curry dish. Service was good, staff were very friendly. It was a bit of a wait when leaving the restaurant as there was only one elevator and many tables were leaving at the same time.

Romantic dinner with a spectacular view, tasty foods (appetizers, cocktails, entree and desserts) and attentive service. It is busy/popular place that requires ahead of booking, valet parking ($8) that is worth of extra efforts. Will visit again!

My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and it was absolutely perfect! The manager seated us at the best table with the best view of the city. Our server, Blake was very knowledgeable of the menu, had a bubbly personality, and gave us phenomenal recommendations. Monterey went above and beyond for us for our anniversary celebration. Next time we visit Pittsburgh we will be back.

Went here on our anniversary trip to Pittsburgh. The food was wonderful. The views are amazing. The staff was great! The views are spectacular!!! We loved the complimentary anniversary dessert.
