The pavilion worked out very well for a birthday party and there was enough room for all of us underneath on a very hot day.

Great small farmers market every Sunday from 9 to 1. Free Yoga class at 10. They have fruit, vegetables, BBQ sauces, bakeries, hand made lotions and shave items, crystals and jewelry, vintage items.

Good neighborhood park with a farmers market and public tennis courts. I got a wonderful lavender lemonade at the farmers market here. A nice place to stop if you are in the neighborhood.

Great tennis courts in great shape.

We go for the dog park, so that's what this rating is based on. The rest of the area is shaded, with lots of green space, an enclosed, well-shaded playground, and a pavilion. The dog park here is all gravel and only becomes shaded after 3pm.. and even then it's not all that well shaded. Your dog will walk away dirty if it likes to play rough with other dogs. Also once it gets dark, there is no light outside except what comes from the tennis courts.

Nice small park. Has a nice fence in dog park and a nice playground for kids. There is a school near by that brings the kids over to play on the playground during the daytime. In the evenings I've seen groups exercising near the pavilion. The tennis courts have timed lights. The lights have a manual reset to turn them back on.

Amazing green space near the heart of Old Town Alexandria.

Google
One of the most convenient dog parks in old town. Theo wners who frequent the park are generally on top of their dogs and don't allow much, if any misbehaving. You get the random out of town folks or irresponsible owners. Though the vast majority of the time you'll encounter wonderful people and pups! Only negative aspect is the gravel in the park BE READY TO BATHE YOUR NOW GREY COLORED DOGS!

Yelp
Nice, small, quiet and shaded. Just what I've been looking for. I'll come back, again and again.

Yelp
Convenient that's it...need to change the lame-ass dirt to the same water proof gravel at the Eugene Simpson park...bring your dog here only if you want to give them a bath immediately afterwards. Taxes hard at work

Yelp
I came across Montgomery Park because I decided to try out some of the other dog parks in the area. Sometimes Shirlington can be too crowded on the weekends and Simpson Stadium tends to have much bigger dogs than my pup. It's a pretty small dog run but it's a nice flat area for playing fetch. There is a mix of gravel and grass so the dogs will appreciate the variety of sniffs. The few times that I've been there, there haven't been many other dogs. I may regret saying this but...I wish more people knew about this place! One thing that could definitely be better is the single entrance/exit gate--usually, there's another door so that there's a separate waiting/leashing area.

Yelp
Small little park that has a dog run, tennis courts, playground, gazebo with picnic tables and several park benches. Perfect for grabbing the Perfect Pita across the street from the park.

Yelp
Four nice lighted tennis courts in Old Town. They have a meetup group that plays there on Saturdays and Sundays, for tennis. The courts are in very good condition. They have a decent sized playground (not very shady) and a gianormous gazebo with two diminutive picnic tables (they are normal size but seem small under such a giant structure). Alas, there is no more Perfect Pita, but there's a bike shop across the street (with lots of bike traffic) and a coffee shop and Italian restaurant around the corner. Specs from site: Fenced dog run, four lighted tennis courts, tennis practice board, parking, picnic tables, playground, shelter, and water fountain Montgomery Park has been adopted by the Old Town North Community Association.

Yelp
This dog park rocks! It is very quiet, meaning it's actually possible to come by yourself at off-peak hours. This is essential for me, with a rescue dog who loves to fetch and mingle with dogs, but does not appreciate the jumping and rough housing that tends to go on at other dog parks. We will be frequenting this park often!

Yelp
This is a decent no frills dog run in the neighborhood with enough space for dogs to burn some energy off in a fenced area. Whenever I've brought my pup here it's either empty or never more than about 6 or so dogs, all sizes. Owners tend to generally keep an eye on their dogs though there is a guy who comes by regularly with his two very large Alaskan Malamutes with his ear buds in and on the bench not keeping close watch. My dog and I leave as soon as we see them coming, not taking any chances. There is a water fountain and bowl. There are poop bags that people donate, which is nice. Unfortunately there is no shade; a little grass would be nice as there is currently only gravel, which gets messy when it rains.

Yelp
Nice courts but you can never get on them after work hours. The whole place is taken over by an organized group that makes anyone not in the group, playing or not playing, feel quite unwelcome. I don't believe they do this intentionally but it sure doesn't feel great playing having hordes of people hanging around your court waiting for you to finish so they can take over. I really hope the city is getting a whole load of money for this as this taxpayer isn't getting anything at this location for his tax dollars.
