I am so excited we stopped in. Food was delicious. The decor is outstanding. Outdoor seating ,Basement set up is perfectly done. Highly recommend. Tons of specials as well.

Prices on some items are outrageous co.pared to other restaurant bars. Three chicken tenders for almost $16! Etc. Service was good. Food was good. Too dark for my liking but other people seem to like it.

Did the pull-up for dinner at Monty's, and it was really good. For an appetizer, we had the pretzel sticks and beer cheese, which were both outstanding. For dinner, I odered the chicken pesto sandwich, and my wife had the stir fry. The chicken was good but very small compared to most chicken sandwiches I have had at another restaurant. It was the same size as a chicken cutlet. It was l pretty thin. However, it tasted really good, and I would get it again. I would also.

Drafts are only 12 oz! For a $7 beer, I assume I'm ordering a pint. Otherwise, it's a nice establishment. Food is solid if pricey; service is good; cozy atmosphere but not enough sound dampening.

This is a cool place! I have not been in the building since the old owners and wow it's all brand new! This place seems fun and I look forward to going here much more!

Finally made it to this local spot and really enjoyed our food and drinks! Plus the service was outstanding. I enjoyed their Margarita and we got poutine tots with an egg on top, chicken tenders, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and my husband got a dip sandwich. Everything was so yummy except for the mashed potatoes potatoes which I thought were pretty bland and needed some more salt or gravy to amp them up. Our server noticed I had barely ate them and was nice enough to even take them off our bill, without us even asking! Great and friendly service, food arrived quickly, and the relaxed sports bar atmosphere made this a great first time. We are excited to go back and try even more menu items!

The burger was a little bit thin, in my opinion. However, it tasted good. I highly recommend the onion rings, were great! The coleslaw was creamy & and delicious.

Loved the atmosphere of this restaurant and trivia night was a lot of fun. Waitress was very nice. Food was disappointing to me. Avocado egg roll was not hot and was black inside. Very weird texture. After inquiring about it, the manager was came over and seemed like a very nice and personable and explains that the avocado oxidizes and you kind of just have to close your eyes when you eat it… you were so nice but my food needs to look appetizing! I have had fried avocado and avocado egg rolls other places and they don’t look like that. They didn’t bring back my piece of egg roll and didn’t take it off the bill. Got the Cajun burger based off the reviews, the bun was bigger than the patty and just wasn’t anything special to me didn’t have a lot of flavor. The bacon on the burger was very weird. At first it was so thick and hard almost like fried ham. Then it wouldn't come apart and the whole piece came out of the burger and it was a weird globulous fatty meat piece. Sweet potatoes fries seemed like that could have been awesome but seemed cooked twice almost. We’re a little hard and had a strange taste. Regular fries were pretty good. Tasted almost like fryer oil needed to be changed. Best thing was probably the pomegranate beet salad. I think the food quality could use a boost and you have a winner here. We did still have a nice evening out.

Yelp
One of my favorite local spots in A2. Chill vibe, staff is nice, service is good and fast. We've tried a few different apps, Shepards pie, the single burger, meatball sandwich (not sure if that's there anymore), and the Buffalo chicken sandwich. Everything has been good. My one critique on the burger and meatball sandwich was they could have used more sauce but that's just preference, nothing to do with quality. We've lived here in A2 for about 8 months and recently discovered Monty's. We will definitely be putting them on a frequent rotation.

Yelp
I have read good things about this place so I decided to check it out yesterday. I came in mid-afternoon, found a comfortable spot at the bar and was quickly greeted by a welcoming bartender. I chose a beer from their extensive draft list and perused the menu. There is more there than the typical tired bar menu with some fresher, healthier options. I chose the BLT, it was served on a focaccia bun with a generous portion of thick bacon and slices of fresh tomato, it was delicious! There is much to like about Monty's, the interior is cool, fun, comfortable and food and service was great.

Yelp
I work waking distance away and not sure why I didn't try this place sooner. Dined in solo for an early afternoon lunch. Very impressed with the in house made cheese sticks and great Fish & Chips. Possibly the Best Tartar Sauce I've ever had and also made in house. Great Service & atmosphere. Made my wife jealous so I'll be back very soon with my special lady!!

Yelp
Love the decor. Very beautiful. Service was good. The potato soup was amazing but not sure why they wouldn't have crackers for the soup. The classic burger was very small, not much flavor, and the toppings were small. Tater tots were basic.

Yelp
Monty's is great environment! 1 star off bc the service was slow. We had the nachos with chicken and the chips were really good.

Yelp
I've sorely missed Banfield's, the previous occupant of this space, with its shadowy environs, classic cast of locals, and cheap food and (large) drinks. Things are a bit different now. Monty's is bright and airy with some quirky cocktail selections, a menu full of English pub favorites, and prices that aren't exactly cheap, but are at least in line with most other casual bar operations in town. On our first visit...I ordered the cheddar beef sandwich. I can't complain about the amount of meat and cheese, though it was a bit short on the advertised horseradish. When we returned, my wife had the classic burger, which met all expectations for a good bar burger. I tried the tikka masala and was impressed. It wasn't as saucy as the tikkas I usually get from Indian restaurants, but the sauce it had mixed through the rice well, making the entire bowl wonderful. Spicy! This is the kind of food experience you usually would have to drive--and park--in downtown Ann Arbor to get. It's nice to have all of the pleasure and none of the hassle.

Yelp
Very cool and casual establishment. They seem to have a good amount of loyal customers. Service was pretty good. Our waitress was very kind. Foodwise, The gator bites were okay, but the Alfredo pasta with steak was pretty spot on. I was quite happy with my entree. So I'm not a trivia for fun kind of person, but I came here with some coworkers anyways. So for those are are interested: TRIVIA NIGHT is on Tuesdays at 7pm !

Yelp
Tonight was my first time trying Monty's. I live in a nearby neighborhood and I have grown tired of what is nearby so I was excited to see the reviews. I was really hopping to love it. I ordered pickup from an app and unfortunately they were out of my first choice so I ordered the Sheppard's pie. I don't hold it against them for being out of something when I ordered closer to 8pm. It happens. I'll start with the pretzel and beer cheese app. The soft pretzels were good, but the beer cheese wasn't my favorite, and there was something in it of unknown origin floating in it. I didn't venture to see what it was. It didn't really matter anyway. The Cesar salad was sad. The greens were limp and the Caesar salad dressing was unremarkable. I did however, use it for the little croutons and pretzel sticks. The croutons unfortunately were my favorite part of my meal. On to the main event: Shepard's pie. I wish I could say something positive about it. There was hardly any of the meat filling, and what I could get out from underneath the hard cheese and crumbly mashed potatoes was maybe an inch of it. I didn't care for the taste at all. It reminded me of Chef Boyardee ravioli, but not as good. It was clear that it was probably made a while ago and put under a salamander to heat it. They can turn it out faster if the pie is shallow. I think that may have been the case. They left out my beverage and the side of sauce I had asked for, but they said that they would take that off of my check, and both times I spoke with someone they were very nice! I think going there might be the best for the drinks and events that they hold like trivia and karaoke. I love both and will probably stop by sometime to play, but I'll be sure to eat before I go out. The only thing is that my husband who said when he picked up dinner was that it is insanely noisy because of the music. When I called I could barely hear the person I was talking to so I can confirm that. I tried to tell them about my meal, but I could barely hear the other person on the line. All I got out was reporting the missing soda. If you have a problem after ordering from the app Toast the number that they have listed just rings and rings. And since they were out of the gumbo, I had to chose a salad that added + $3 to the $17 entrée I had. I could not place my order on the Toast app without picking one. Gosh, I write this with a heavy heart because we are neighbors and the people seem so nice! Right now I cannot recommend it, but I will give it another try and update my review when I do!

Yelp
My fiancé and I love coming here for a casual night out, especially when we want something unique in the Ann Arbor area. We've always had great service and excellent food/drinks, and enjoy ordering things that you can't get at other establishments, like the fish & chips or bayou (fried alligator) bites. Bonus that they have outdoor seating, a game room, and a clean establishment! This is definitely on our list of close, local hangouts where we can bring friends and enjoy a drink (or two)!

Yelp
Good food and ambiance - docking star a because my friends and I have been overcharged various times. We've gone here a few times after our rec sports league, and liked it until we looked back at our credit card transactions and saw we were overcharged. Reaching back out to them they were super nice and accommodating about fixing the error - maybe it's the software they use (tabs). Either way, good place, just check your bank statements later, and if there is a discrepancy, give them a call and they'll fix it.

Yelp
Have been looking for a good NFL place in the Ann Arbor area for years, great food, great service, Sunday Ticket.. awesome atmosphere! Hands down the best place to watch a game in Ann Arbor, will be here on Saturdays for away Michigan games.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place last night with some out of town friends. We all thought the food was fantastic! We ordered the pretzel sticks with beer cheese (DJ's Bakery-yum) and poutine for appetizers. I had the French dip sandwich- way too much bread but at least the meat was tasty. My boyfriend ordered the fish and chips and really liked them. He said the tartar sauce and cole slaw were more vinegary than he's used to but that's just a preference thing. My friend from Texas tried shepherd's pie for the first time and said it was amazing. Fries were tasty. I'll give the food 4.5 stars out of 5. The service, on the other hand, was atrocious. As a former server, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and be kind but our server was just plain strange. Courtney forgot to ring in a couple of orders of drinks and when we asked about where our drinks were, she snatched an empty glass in the most aggressive way I've ever seen at a restaurant. She was extremely awkward, calling each of us "friend" multiple times and was very passive-aggressive. All four of us felt it. At the end of the night, we were able to stop another server to cash us out and she was wonderful. Very kind and heard us out about our disappointing service. Emily is clearly good at her job. The food here was great and we will definitely be back to try more. We just don't want Courtney as a server again.

Marcia M.

Yelp
Service was great and friendly. However ordered three different drinks and they were out of all the alcohols required. Two times in a row. Food was terrible. Way overcooked. Chicken sandwich had a breast that was about 2 oz. Pretty pathetic for $14. Last time I had smash burgers they had the texture of shoe leather. Again way overcooked.

Yelp
This spot used to be a hangout for the theater crowd when it was a place called Banfield's. My theater moved locations so I hadn't been in a while but when I saw it had opened under a new name I had to try it and am very happy I did. The remodeling opened up the place and made it seem much more inviting. It has a bar with about a dozen seats and 4 tall tables in the bar area. The dining area has booths, some of them very large, as well as tables. Lots of TVs as well. As a bonus, the food is really good. I am personally hooked on the gator bites, as well as their chicken chowder and their pimento dip. They also have a beer especially brewed for them by Wolverine State Brewing. I have certainly added this bar to my hangout list. Hope to see you there.

Phyllis M.

Yelp
Seat yourself with no waiting. Service was fast and friendly. Food arrived less than 10 minutes after it was ordered. Good sized portions and very fair prices. Chicken was tasty with mixed greens salad. I would definitely recommend the cheeseburger- very juicy and delicious. Seating is spacious and bathrooms are clean. Noise level was fine, good music selection. If you can stand the summer heat there is also outside seating. Would recommend and would come back!

Yelp
Got take out from them yesterday. For a place offering traditional pub fare they really missed the mark. My brother's fish and chips were overcooked, nearly burnt on the outside and yet wet and mushy on the inside. My Shepherd's Pie tasted like someone had dissolved an entire salt lick in it. The mashed potatoes on top were gooey, had the consistency of silly putty. The only person happy with their meal was my husband who ordered the blackened pork chop dinner. We had been excited to have a pub in our neighborhood....but I am very disappointed in their food.
google avatar

Mallory R.

Yelp
Good place for some after work drinks. I've only had the waffle fries but they were good. Nice selection of draft beer and there was a lot of seating if you have a bigger group. There was a game room in the back that you walk through to get to the restrooms. Seemed like fun but didn't spend much time checking it out.

Yelp
I was excited about trying out this restaurant because of the fried alligator appetizer (BayouSticks). Boy was i disappointed. Its basically alligator flavored hushpuppies. I could not find actual alligator in any of it. For the 12 dollar price, I felt totally ripped off. The beer cheese tastes like it came out of a can and was also gross. Didn't eat it. Another 11 dollars I was disappointed that I spent. Our order was to go and they got by sandwich mixed up... classic rueben with a side of cole slaw...it was made with regular corn beef, but Georgia Rueben style....had to go back and pick up what I actually ordered. At least that got refunded. This was my first time trying this place out and I don't think I'll be back. Super inflated price for low quality food. I definitely expected better.

Kasey W.

Yelp
The food, the beer, the service - all 5 stars! We had a party of 8, we were sat quickly, served quickly and all enjoyed ourselves. Our server Emily was amazing and we can't wait to go back! Would definitely recommend Monty's, a great addition to A2s south side.

William W.

Yelp
Well this is certainly a step up from the old Banfields! Cool new spot in town. The place is lively and has a friendly staff. Lots of TVs and different seating areas too. The food was fantastic. The Cajun Burger is honestly the best hamburger I've had in the Ann Arbor area and the waffle fries were great too. Only downside in my mind is the pricing. It's was also weird to see the completely different clientele than Banfields used to serve...gentrification happening before our very eyes.

Yelp
This place was delicious and has an awesome ambience!! I had fish and chips which were absolutely delicious, the breading was incredible and the homemade tartar sauce was so so tasty. My boyfriend had the beef and cheddar sandwich and it was like Arby on absolute steroids. It was so so tasty. I also had their in house tap beer and it was really caramelly and tasty (I'm not much of a beer drinker but wanted to try it, and loved it!) Everything was out of this world good, we can't wait to come back for happy hour!!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
good food nice environment, but the service is mediocre. once you place your order & get your food good luck seeing your waitress again LOL. had to go up to the bar where she was talking with her coworkers to get my bill
google avatar

Felix G.

Yelp
Not a bad spot. Spent a good dinner here. Mouth bartender Megan was super badass. Food is good to. I'd come back here for sure. I wanted to try the games out but we lost track of time in Megan's eyes.
google avatar

Hanine C.

Yelp
Yes, absolutely loved this place! Everything was delicious and I feel confident anything on the menu is good. Burger was delicious, wings were super crispy and not greasy, blueberry salad was fantastic. Can't wait to go back.

Michael S.

Yelp
Thought I'd give'm a 2nd try :/ Got the georgia reuben w chips. Didn't think you could go wrong w/ that, but it was well below the A2 mediocre, including the house made chips. They were short wait staff, which didn't bother me b/c I was there for relaxing me time, planning on getting a drink or coffee, but glad no one came back to ask. I asked for the check & the wait staff took my $20, then actually asked me if I wanted cash back for a $13.78 bill??? Umm... seriously.. you're expecting a 50% tip?!?! Seriously?!?! That got me feeling petty. I would've tipped my normal 20+%, or actually even give'n it all to him in a better interaction. But with that question, then returning my change w/o the coinage, I only left 15%. Shoulda went to Achilles, the reuben is much better and I think less in $. Unfortunately, I kinda forget they're there. Ooops, next time
google avatar

Matt T.

Yelp
Laid back bar eatery!! Good simple bar food. Locals seem to like this spot. Nice service!

Kris F.

Yelp
Decent food, uneven server experience. Don't believe their posted hours - the kitchen actually closes before then. So if it's half an hour before closing, don't waste your time.

Bradley P.

Yelp
We tried this out for the first time tonight. Our son hangs with the Ann Arbor restaurant staff crowd and has some acquaintances working there, and told us to expect good things. He was right. Vision is a British pub, therefore special focus on fish and chips and shepherd's pie. Though we had different dishes! I enjoyed a French dip; my son their name brand burger, and wife their vegetarian sandwich. All first rate. Service was attentive and fairly quick. And, happy hour all day Thursday! Their house brand lager was good, and there were a number of other good craft brews and a full bar. We'll be back!
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
Atmosphere and staff are very nice and friendly. Definitely a small quant location. I do hope they stick around for a long time.
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
Enjoyed my time at Monty's. It's a good local. Rode my bike up there, had a couple drinks and watch the British Open for about an hour. The staff was super friendly and they play good music. I'll definitely go back.
google avatar

Josh G.

Yelp
I'm super happy that the old Banfields turned into a cool neighborhood pub instead of another dispensary or burner cell phone store on the block. The place is cool, the staff are super friendly, and the food is great. We've had the Monty's sticks, fish and chips, shepherds pie, bangers and mash, and the reuben...and they're all really good. The patty melt was just kind of OK. This is definitely going to be a regular place for us. People are complaining about the higher prices than the old joint, but for the quality of the food, I think it's completely worth it. Banfields was cheaper than fast food, and though we Ioved the place, I don't know how they made any money with those prices.
google avatar

Ben G.

Yelp
This new place is great! This area of town needed a bar like this. The food is excellent (and veggie friendly), the drink selection is good, and the wait staff is super friendly. There are even some outside tables for some of us who are still hesitant of indoor dining. If you'd like a quick meal and a beer I couldn't recommend Monty's more.

Tara T.

Yelp
First time there and was eagerly anticipating the fish. We were a party of two, sat at the bar late afternoon on a Saturday. Place was not busy, we were the only ones sitting up at the bar when we got there. Sat there for a full ten mins before we were acknowledged or our drink order was taken. Several employees walked past us at least 5x in that ten mins. Food looked good, but the fries were clearly pre-cooked, then briefly re-dropped and served to us...dry and overly crunchy. Fish was a bit oily, (maybe oil wasn't hot enough?). Overall, just a lackluster experience. Wanted to like the place because I really liked Banfields, but may not return.

Brad B.

Yelp
Stopped in at happy hour and ordered the HH burger. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time, and can't beat the $7 price.
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
Incredible food, great tap list and cocktail menu, friendly, helpful service, and an atmosphere that can't be beat.

Kizzy W.

Yelp
It was horrible service. It took almost hours . Food wasn't good. Rude service. I will never go back. If I could give them a zero. My man paid $100 for 2couple beers wine cheap food.

Greg C.

Yelp
Excellent food, service, and location. Right off, I highly recommend the Tikka Masala, it's got the perfect spice level (and also is an excellent takeout dinner). The decor is bright and cheery, such a huge change from the dive bar (Banfield's) that used to be there - (used to have lunch at Banfields occasionally, but never would have taken the family there) Monty's is a place to take your whole family.

Jillian S.

Yelp
Stoked to have a new neighborhood spot! Very chill spot with friendly staff, great local beers and a tasty pub menu. Def recommend to watch a game or grab a beer and a shot after work.

Robert G.

Yelp
Great new bar. Awesome atmosphere, good drinks, and super friendly staff. Excited to go back and hang out again.

Dave H.

Yelp
Let's begin at the beginning. It was seat yourself, which we did, a few minutes ahead of a large party of other trivia goers. After they said their hellos to the staff and the rest of their party of 10 arrived, the waitstaff took their drink orders and brought out their first round. Then, we got greeted and menus. Ok fine, we have drinks and we're in business. For a while there, we could get more rounds and eventually ordered food - a salad with a chicken add-on and fish and chips; pretty basic. After a reasonable time, the food arrived: salad no chicken and partly burned fish and chips. Nobody came back to ask how things were, so we fended for ourselves for ketchup from another table. Long after we finished dinner and our drinks, the waitress came back. I pointed out the lack of chicken, and she said "oh, it's probably still back there" So she brought out a side plate of warming light grilled and sliced chicken to put on the last couple of bites of my wife's salad. This was after we said "it's fine, just take it off the bill." We did get one last beer, and then we sat there maybe 20 mins post the end of the third trivia round waiting for the bill. Eventually I walked up to the waiters' station and said "ok, we're leaving now. If you'd like us to pay, please bring the bill." He did. Back at the table, he asked how everything was, and I said the fish was over cooked. He thanked me for the feedback and said they have some trainees in the kitchen. No apology comp, round of beer, nothing. I wanted to sarcastically apologize for interrupting his evening as we left, since he was right back to sitting and laughing with the big table as we walked out. It's not worth the drive.

Yelp
Went for the first time since the changeover from Banfields. Nicely remodeled! Went for Happy Hour, which includes $2 off draft beer and well drinks and a buck or two off some apps. So this review is really just specific to their happy hour since we didn't eat a meal. We got pretzel sticks with beer cheese, which was 3 sticks with a cup of cheese, which were pretty good. Also got a basket of fries which were average. I got a G&T with well gin, Also got a Tanqueray martini which was good - but $13. My friend ordered "well vodka/soda double lime" which the bartender interpreted as double vodka (honest misunderstanding) but my friend had 3 not knowing they were doubles - $36! So with tax and tip $85 for two small apps, 4 well drinks (3 double) and one martini. We asked about the doubles and being charged for 6 drinks and were told yeah, 3x2=6. OK, but a $12 well drink during "happy hour"? Anyway...might be back at some point down the line but I have an $85 bad taste in my mouth right now.

Barry D.

Yelp
Burgers are delicious. Background music was meant to please everyone.. sometimes safe answers are not the best answers. Maybe needs more beers on tap, but decent selection nonetheless. Food menu needs more gluten-free options, but will definitely eat/drink here again.

Pascal H.

Yelp
I got the Monty's burger and this was one of the worst burgers I had in a long time. The meat had no flavor to it at all. The chips on the side were also not great

Aman A.

Yelp
They don't seem to allow reviews on Grubhub so here I am. I was excited to try this place after all the good reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I ordered a Monty's burger, fries, and coke. The coke was syrupy, the burger had a small amount of special sauce (so it was dry), and they used the wrong cheese. And also completely forgot the fries. Not a good experience.

Eleanor B.

Yelp
We will visit the pub house again. The seasonal salad was a standout for me but the Sunday Roast had a strange sauce instead of the juices from the meat. I would also request for medium pink the next time!
