On the Grid : Mony's Tacos

"For a quick, tasty, and affordable bite in the Funk Zone, you can’t miss Mony’s. They fly under the radar, with La Super Rica being the best known Mexican spot in town, but Mony’s definitely ranks up there. Their salsa bar is like no other, offering varieties like pistachio salsa?! (it’s good!), peanut salsa (yep), habanero salsa, and more, along with a variety of tacos in the $2 price range. As a bonus, all orders eaten in include free chips and salsa! So stay for a while, try some salsas you maybe wouldn’t have tried before (or even known that they existed) and enjoy your food at one of their several outdoor tables." - Amanda Proudfit

The 25 Best Restaurants & Bars In Santa Barbara

"Located on a side street in the Funk Zone, Mony's is a solid Mexican spot that's perfect for a casual lunch in the neighborhood. Everything at this dime-sized taco spot is worth ordering, but our usual is the barbacoa combo or the chicken burrito. Whatever you do, get involved with the salsa situation. Particularly the pistachio salsa. Warning: weekend lines here get insane and they close at 3:30pm daily. " - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins, garrett snyder

Google
Delicious and authentic Mexican restaurant located near the water front in Santa Barbara. I recommend the tacos! The asada and Al pastor are both great. They have a good selection of house made salsas. I recommend that you try them all! The rice and beans are a good side to add to the dish. They also have a good selection of drinks and beers ready to go as. The only seating is outside the front the of the store.

We were a group of awesome 13 visiting Santa Barbara on Amtrak. One of us found this place. It is not on a main street but surprisingly this was the only place with a line outside. Around 10 people all the time in the line to order while we were there for around 90 minutes. Good vegetarian choices. Reasonable prices. Almost everyone in the group enjoyed the food. Outside seating in sunny Santa Barbara made it even more fun. The staff was also courteous and helpful. A bit of a slow place, slow service but it was worth the time and money.

Google
I had chilaquiles rojos added avocado and carnitas. Best I’ve ever had! No food pic - I stood in line for about 30 minutes (worth it) and it was a late lunch - opened it up and just started eating it!

Google
What a great choice for lunch. This little restaurant only has seating outside on the street (oh to be in California with no rain!). You queue on the street, then enter a smallish area to order, take a seat and wait for plates of deliciousness to arrive. The menu is really interesting and flexible: you choose your meat (type and cooking style), then how you want it presented: taco, burrito, quesadillas, etc. They then serve your selection with some homemade salsas and nacho chips. We chose tacos with a selection of fillings: - Carne Asada (Roasted meat) - Pollo En Molle (Chicken with mole) - Rajas Con Queso (Vegetables with cheese) - Chorizo - Pescado (Fish) Every one was freshly prepared and delicious - we loved them all, but the Chorizo, for me, was outstanding. The salsas were also excellent. All served with a smile. We loved it! Also posted to my food blog on Instagram @AbbeyKing16

Walked into this cute taqueria to grab a quick lunch to go. Service was great and I was pleasantly greeted by the front employee. I got a beans, rice, and cheese burrito with chips and salsa. I got my food within 5 minutes and on my way! I’d only had wish I’d gotten more chips but all in all I loved it!

Google
Amazing Mexican food! The carnitas taco was phenomenal. They give you tons of freshly made chips in each bag — enough to try all of their fun, unique salsas! Try the pineapple salsa, peanut salsa, pistachio salsa, and roasted pepper if you can. The barbacoa grilled burrito was delicious — the barbacoa was pull-apart tender which I loved. The meat had a strong spice/smokiness to it. If you’re not into that, get the carnitas instead. Friendly and fast service with a bunch of tables outside to enjoy the nice weather. Highly recommend!

Google
Popped by for lunch - super reasonably priced and delicious! Love their outdoor seating - some well-shaded options. The chips and guacamole are great. I went with the crispy tortilla shells and grilled shrimp and it was great! Fast service, great meal.

Google
This is a real experience worth waiting for. I advise getting there early because there will be a line every single day. Locals considered it the best Mexican food for lunch (closed for dinner). Locally owned which is also extremely important. Barbacoa crispy taco is what I crave. They have an entire lineup of salsas, so don’t be shy try them all. Must visit. Thank me later.

Yelp
This place is great! The burritos are amazing and big! I got the chicken burrito. Everything is reasonably priced. The staff is super friendly and will offer any assistance that you need. It is conveniently located in the funk zone so if you need some food after a wine tasting, this is the place to go. Nice atmosphere

Yelp
Three-Star Review for Mony's, Santa Barbara Mony's in Santa Barbara is a decent taco spot, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The tacos are $3.50 each, with an extra $0.50 for certain cuts of meat, which adds up quickly. The portion sizes didn't feel like great value for the price. On the plus side, both the soft and hard shell options were available, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the hard shell tacos were. The flavors were solid, but the hot sauce lacked the kick I was expecting. Also, there's no indoor seating--just outdoor tables--so keep that in mind. Not a bad spot, but I've had better for the price.

Yelp
La Super-Rica Taqueria was closed for vacation, so I brought my guests to Mony's. The vibe is fun, with only outside picnic tables.... Perfect in the beautiful Santa Barbara weather. The food was tasty, ..but we would have liked more chips with the bowls. The line was long and the workers were pleasant and helpful. Is definitely bring friends back again.

Yelp
Always a pleasant meal at Monys! I typically find myself here during lunchtime during the week which isn't too crazy. However I have been during the weekend and other times where it can be more hectic. Nonetheless every time has been satisfying. My go to here is the burritos. They are good. The best ever? Okay we all have our favorites; But this one always does justice when craving a burrito. Really do need to try a Torta on my next visit...

Yelp
I have NO idea what kind of Mexican food people in this area have been eating. The reviews that say this is hands down the best, is a far stretch and comical. Tacos and salsa were TRASH compared to the flavors and taste of Mexican food in L.A. I was beyond disappointed with the chicken tacos. Meat was absolutely dry, tasted boiled and flavorless. I was curious why I kept seeing g people buy bags of chips because I never saw REAL containers of salsa, actual chunky salsa to go with them. The green salsa was somewhat palatable. I could've gagged on the orange one. All of them were too thin and just not what I expected for a place that sells decent tasting chips. I'm still baffled by the long line outside too. Had I known I would have never wasted time eating here during my visit, let alone standing in line. Aside from my subpar tacos, my friend threw away part of her carne asada burrito. It was not the usual meat flavor and had a strange light color similar to pork. The other friend really liked her chicken tacos and the salsa. That was no surprise because usually when she says food is very good, I find it disgusting. Lol! If you want authentic Mexican food and something to rave about, please visit any place in the L.A. area. This is NOT it!

Yelp
Tacos were DELICIOUS! There was a line but the food came out pretty fast, which was great! There are only outdoor seats, but considering Santa Barbara's weather, it's pretty nice.

Yelp
I was eager to try a new burrito spot and found Mony's. Upon arrival on the Saturday at lunchtime that I went, there was a decent line. Clearly this is a popular spot! They only offer outdoor seating but the usual Santa Barbara weather makes it nice to sit outside. The line moved pretty quick and our food also came out fast. I opted for the Mony's burrito with chicken. It was so good! The chicken tasted really fresh and I loved the lightly toasted tortilla. The burrito came with 2 salsas (spice level of my choice) and chips. I really enjoyed my meal. I can't wait to come back! They don't have parking on site but the Funk Zone offers street parking all around. Several people had opted to take their food to go, but a fair amount of people were enjoying their meal there.

Yelp
During our weekend stay in SB one of our uber drivers was raving on about Mony's and giving it a try if we had time during our stay. For our last morning we were in the area and remembered the high review we hear about this place so decided to give it a try. There was a short line and we ordered first. My partner ordered the green chilaquiles and added avocado and carnitas. I ordered the breakfast burrito of egg and bacon but it was mainly just beans and rice. I can see why this would be a favorite for the clientele but if you are use to authentic Mexican food and from LA this is a majorrrrrr low. We were so disappointed that this was our last meal in SB. If you are into gringo Mexican food than this may be the place for you... none of the salsas having any spicynesss in it told me everything I needed to know about this place lol.

Yelp
Hands down THE BEST MEXICAN RESTERAUNT we have ate at in Santa Barbarra. Went with a group of co workers and we all agree'd. A must if your in the area and craving great aunthentic Mexican food. Stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday and this place had a long line. We took that as a good sign and waited in line for maybe 10 minutes before we ordered. There was about 10 tables with shade outside for you to grab...if you are able too lol. I went with a plate of barbacoa and my wife ordered tacos (chicken mole, chicken tinga and grilled fish). The barbacoa plate was a 10/10, full of flavor and such a huge portion of food! The mole taco in my wife's opinion was a 10/10, fish taco was a 10/10, and the chicken tinga was a 8 out of 10. Food was far beyond our expectations. Thanks Monys for the delicious lunch. We will be back! Till next time.

Yelp
What do you do when La Super Rica is closed and you're now craving Mexican and have a Los Agaves close to you at home and want something new? Go to Yelp, read the reviews and wind up at Mony's. Thank you fellow Yelpers!!! Cute little place that lines up fast for lunch. We timed it right (before noon) and got in before the rush. We had to wait a little bit for a shaded table, but the turnover is pretty quick and I would imagine people would share space if available. This is a perfect stop before a day in the Funk Zone (breakfast burritos) or a lunch stop when you want casual and delicious. The staff is super friendly and made some great recommendations. We split a Breakfast Burrito with Pico de Gallo and eggs, Mexican rice, Peruano beans, queso, onions, cilantro and crema wrapped in a lightly toasted flour tortilla. And a Burrito Al Pastor with Mexican rice, Peruano beans, queso, onions, and cilantro in a lightly toasted flour tortilla. This also had some pineapple in it, which gave it a little sweet kick. Both were so delicious. Even the onions burst with flavor and freshness! And the salsas and chips were top notch, too. Definitely add this to your SB list, Funk Zone or not!!!

Yelp
They made a special appearance at a gallery showing, and did they bring the flavor. Even though their menu was limited that day (understandably son), it didn't cramp our style one bit. Tacos were the star of the show, priced just right at $3.5 each, and made fresh to order. The folks behind the counter were a delight - friendly vibes all around. The pastor was piled high with meat, delicious! Carnitas - bursting with flavor, especially when paired with their zesty green salsa. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I'm already counting down the days until I can visit their spot in SB.

Yelp
There are many Mexican restaurants in Santa Barbara, but Mony's is one of the best in terms of the quality of food in my opinion. Another thing that separates Mony's from their competitors is that prices seem slightly lower. Their service was ok. Nothing to brag about. They have limited seating, but it's nice to sit outside and enjoy their food.
google avatar

Brooke D.

Yelp
Best mexican food in SB ! Came here with some friends for lunch and we all loved our food. This taco spot has outdoor seating and limited hours. My only complaint is that they are not open for dinner. When coming for lunch expect a line but it does move quickly. And the food comes out pretty fast as well. I recommend trying anything on the menu and you wont be disappointed. I tried mole tacos , fish and chicken tinga. My favorite was the mole taco. My partner got a shredded beef plate and it was delicious too.
google avatar

Gail M.

Yelp
Excellent food! I had the Mony bowl with carnitas and served with some homemade tortilla chips. Very nice portion and very delicious. My hubby had 3 tacos he said was very good. Nice outdoor seating and food was ready quickly. Keep in mind that the hours are 10:30 - 3:30 closed on Sunday.
google avatar

Paige N.

Yelp
The menu offerings and flavors at Mony's were unexpected yet delightful! It's not a traditional taco shop, they have a defined menu with unique dishes. Loved the chicken mole enchiladas-- I would absolutely get these again. Chips are a bit greasy, but tasty. I could have taken the guac with less tomato/onion, but guac is guac so of course it was still good. My boyfriend really enjoyed the Mony's burrito, he just wished it was a bit meatier. This is somewhere I'll be back!
google avatar

Stephanie W.

Yelp
I always talk about how these are the BEST tacos ever! They do not disappoint. Add some of their guac sauce, and it's to die for. Yes, I actually took salsa to go because I loved it that much. They're like nothing I've tasted before. A very unique taste. The chilaquiles are good as well. Would love to try more of their menu bug I just have to get those tacos when I'm in SB. It's a really small place with tables outside. Service is good and they have plenty of different salsa you can choose from. Seriously, hard shell tacos, try them!
google avatar

Deirdre M.

Yelp
It was great! Really enjoyed to food and service. So here's the deal you stand in the line at the right of the door. The left line is for pick ups. You enter the small building when they tell you to come in. Then if your smart and more than one person one person orders while the other person grabs a table outside. They deliver your food and drinks very quickly after you order. Food was fresh, had lots of flavor and was hot. Service was great and checked on us perfectly. A usual beautiful sunny Santa Barbara day so eating outside is perfect. Quiet neighbor hood in the Funk Zone. Really easiest parking is at Amtrak Train Station and walk over two block. Easy to spot. Parking right by the restaurant is really iffy so we parked at Amtrak for $3.00 per hr.
google avatar

Claudia B.

Yelp
There's a reason Mony's overall rating is almost 5 solid stars... and they are in my book. Such EXCELLENT Mexican food. Yes, I'd prefer if they had full table service, and I'd prefer not to have to wait in line to order my food, but it is so gosh darn good that it's worth the hassle. At least they will bring the food out once ordered, and the servers are quite attentive getting you what you want if you need anything else. It's just waiting in line that is annoying. We happened to be only 3rd in line, but I kid you not, we waited over 20 min. to make it to the counter for food ordering. I think that was an atypically long wait time and that the line usually moves faster, but I really don't know since this was our first time here. Thank goodness we arrived before noon, or we would've had an even worse wait. The line was all the way back to the parking lot by the time we left. The important thing to know is how fantastic the food is. Everything... from the chips, salsa, guac, to the entrees, rice and beans. OMG !! Absolutely terrific. Plus, they give huge portions, and I'm happy to say that we had so much food left over that I'm super excited for dinner tonite cuz I'm gonna tear into this food again... and polish it off. DELICIOUS !!! My husband and I both ordered chicken fajitas, which came with red, yellow and green peppers, as well as onions. When I first saw it, it looked kind of dry, but it was anything but dry. Extremely flavorful, the chicken was moist, and it was just perfect. The rice and beans were outstanding, too. I don't know what kind of beans those were, but they were GREAT !! While parking can be a bit of a challenge, make your way to this place. It's awesome and worth whatever challenges/hassles await you. The food is perfect !!
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Terrible service, it's barely a functioning restaurant. They never brought my food and refused to refund the meal they did not provide. Clueless, rude staff, especially the manager, Carlos, who says that not getting your food is normal. This place is a joke being played on tourists who don't know any better. Avoid at all costs. Worst of Santa Barbara. Of all the Mexican places in this town, don't waste your money at Mony's.
google avatar

Jared W.

Yelp
All 3 tacos I got were great but if I had to rank them it'd be: 1. Al Pastor 2. Barbacoa 3. Carnitas Guac was fresh and home homemade chips were a nice addition!
google avatar

Matthew M.

Yelp
Solid Mexican joint in the Funk Zone! Difficult street parking when it is busy. The line looks intimidatingly long, but it moves quickly since they only allow one person inside at a time to order so it is not as long as it looks. The tacos and burritos were both excellent as well as the chips and salsas. As others say, the salsa flavors are unique and we enjoyed the pistachio, peanut, and avocado. Reasonable prices, helpful staff. Overall I recommend!
google avatar

Anne G.

Yelp
Just wow! I had the new Mony's Bowl and let me tell you, it was so yummy and fresh! Everything you get in a burrito but in a bowl! I got mine with the Al Pastor and I highly recommend! So tender and flavorful! I wanted to eat it all but it was large, so I took half home! Guess what? It didn't even make it to the fridge before my son got ahold of it! It's 5 stars from both of us! Don't forget to hit up the salsas! They have a great selection! My fav was the creamy green salsa and the pineapple! Forgot to mention the chips! So crispy with just the right amount of salt! Delish! You might have to wait in line, but it is 100% worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
My idea of what Mexican food should look and taste like comes from LA street taco vendors. I often think of that very strong, flavorful, and in your face kind of Mexican food. But this place was very different. Food tasted very clean, yet it was still flavorful and elegant in some way too. It was a strange experience but I actually enjoyed their food. Ingredients all tasted very clean and high quality. We came on a week day so the line wasn't so bad and we were able to secure a table. I'm not sure if I would wait in line to eat here or anything but if you happen to swing by and there is no line, I recommend you give it a try because I think it will be a pleasant experience.

Grant S.

Yelp
To the start this off I have a huge San Diego bias. I refused to believe there was any great Mexican food in Santa Barbara. That was until I came here. Its easy to say I have eaten a burrito almost everyday for the past 10 years and this place is a top 3 spot for me. The seating and restaurant itself are simple. There is a spot to order your food and an outside seating area. The service is good. They bring your food to you and they are friendly taking your order. The food though is incredible. Every time I stop in Santa Barbara I make it a point to come here. I'm not sure how they cook their rice and beans but they have incredible flavor. The meats they use here taste so fresh and the seasoning is excellent. I currently live back in San Diego again but if I could I'd go to this place every day.

Yelp
This was my first time to West Coast and was really excited about getting really good tacos in California. I asked some locals and Mony's came highly recommended. After waiting in line for over 30 mins, I was really excited and hyped up but was pretty disappointed. I ordered the shrimp, carne asada and chicharron tacos. The shrimp taco was flat out just not good; under seasoned odd toppings. The carne asada was good but i HAD to add salsa cause it was kinda dry. The chicharron was very tasty but it just wasn't what i was expecting. The pork pieces was soft and covered in sauce. I thought it would be crispy pork belly bites. The tacos are extremely affordable and they also give you a side of chips and salsa.

Donna N.

Yelp
Quick service and delicious tacos! We got the lengua, buche, tripe, and cabeza. The cabeza was hands down our favorite, next being buche, lengua and then tripe. The cabeza was a perfect combination of fatty and lean meat making it extremely flavorful. The buche was cooked very well and well seasoned.

Yelp
A Taste of Mony Locally-owned Mexican spot that's been open for nearly ten years now and came recommended to me by a good friend who lives in the area. The Good: *Pet-friendly outdoor seating *Friendly, fast and efficient service *Order and pay at the counter--they also accept CashApp® *Loved that they had a full complement of Mexi meats, that included everything from the typical carne asada and pollo asado to tripas (tripe), buche (stomach), and cabeza (head). They were out of lengua (tongue) on our visit, but I forgave them. *All the food we tried was really good and prepared fresh. No complaints on the food quality here. *Out of the meats I tried the pollo mole (chicken mole) was outstanding and had great flavor in the mole, and the tripas were cut nice and thick and fried-up crisp the way I like it. *Guac and housemade tortilla chips were a bit pricey ($10) for what you get, but at least it was delicious. And they do give you a ton of chips, so it was nice to have those for snacking on later. The Meh: *None of their salsas seemed very spicy. Definitely tamed down for their clientele base, if you catch my drift. *It seems like they used to have indoor dining at one time but are outdoor seating only at this time, still operating under Rona® Rules. I'm not sure what they do when it rains, but I guess it's SoCal, and you only have to worry about ten or so days of that these days. *No alcohol which is a bit unusual for a Mexican joint, as tacos and beer go together like milk and honey. *Not a tremendous amount of outdoor seating, so you'll have to get lucky like we did to score a spot. Fortunately, it did seem like most customers got their grub to-go. The Ugly: *Location is kinda sus operating near a "Gentleman's club" and surrounded by commercial buildings. Parking was a bit difficult, but we did manage to find a public lot near the Waterman Hotel. TLDR: Great place to get your Mexi Munchies on in a nice, comfortable environment.

Yelp
Probably one of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at in downtown SB. The burrito was packed with flavor and they have a wide variety of salsas you can choose from! I really enjoyed their habanero salsa the most. The ambiance of the outside seating area was nice as well to people watch. Quick service too. Definitely will be coming again!

Yelp
If you lost your wallet 4/29 after 2:30pm it was turned in to cashier Oh yes.. food was delicious as always

Yelp
Post Covid and I'm back and Mony's is still as popping as ever. The lines are out the door every time and the line moves kinda slow so best to just call ahead of time (couldn't find an online ordering option on their website) as this would help a lot with getting in and out in 15 min even during lunch rush. Today I tried the Al pastor burrito bowl with tortillas on the side and it really elevated the experience! No more burritos for me! The bowls are huge and it comes with chips too for a nacho, burrito, taco, burrito bowl experience! I just toss all that creamy avocado salsa and pineapple salsa on the Al pastor and the fire roasted charry mild tomato salsa on the chips for some of the best Mexican food I've had. Just wow. Writing this review more so for myself to remember exactly what I got for the next time because there are just so many meat and salsa options!!

Yelp
Easily the best chilaquiles I've had & an instant hangover cure. I will go back every time

Yelp
Really good mexican food and low prices!! I really recommend it ! The bread for the Tortas was just amazing.
google avatar

Gauravi P.

Yelp
I highly recommend Mony's for the complete package of an overall great taco experience! Where else can you find tacos priced around $2-3 and 7 sauces included in that price? We ordered also it the entire menu, but my favorites would have to be: 1.) Pescado taco 2.) Mole en pollo 3.) Tinga de pollo 4.) Vegetables I would skip the shrimp and pollo tacos as those two were subpar compared to the others. For the sauces my favorite was definitely the cilantro crema sauce! If you like a deep fried chip, don't skip out on ordering some. We will definitely be back to try the fajitas and burritos!
google avatar

Mariah A.

Yelp
Great food. Just wish they were open later in the day! I ordered the Mony's Bowl. Excellent portion size + great flavor.

Yelp
I have eaten here before, but wanted to bring my friend to try it. I came to Santa Barbara for my birthday. My friend snuck in and asked them to sing happy birthday. They came out banging their wooden spoon to the pots and sang happy birthday. Such a happy moment. Now the food, there is nothing close to the chilaquiles anywhere else. It's huge and perfection. The red sauce is hot; green is mild. I went with red bc I like spicy and my friend went with green. The atmosphere is so nice and so California. There is only outside seating. If you come at 10:30 am, it's best. The music was a vibe. Food 100/10
google avatar

Alicia N.

Yelp
Everything was perfect!! The food, the staff, and the nice outdoor seating area, so you can enjoy the beautiful weather. It was my friend's birthday and they definitely surprised her by singing happy birthday. I don't think they usually do this, but they were happy and willing to make the request happen. This is the best chilaquiles I've ever eaten. Great value! You definitely get your money's worth! I couldn't even finish the bowl, so I was sad.... because who wants to leave good food on the table! I'm looking forward to coming back the next time I visit Santa Barbara! Do yourself a favor and just go! . Thanks again to the crew who made this day special.

Yelp
Looking for a quick lunch on a hot day in SB, so why not try a local fav? I am always on the hunt for a down to earth, no fuss spot that brings it! When we arrived for lunch there was a decent line forming. You order and then sit outside, but only if you are lucky enough to score a table! We ordered chicken tacos and fajitas. The complimentary chips and salsa were tasty! Loved the green salsa, and while the chips were on the thicker side (I am usually a thin and crispy fan), they were sooo good. The food was fresh, not greasy and I especially enjoyed the fajitas, which included tons of fresh peppers. The chicken street tacos were loaded with chicken and very filling. Flavorful food and with their salsa added a moderate little kick. Good sized portions, especially for the money. My only suggestion would be for a ramp for those that may have mobility needs. To place an order there are two decent sized steps and not a lot of room to maneuver. I have two littles (stroller life) and luckily I had someone to stay with them while I ordered. The staff were gracious and hardworking, and overall I enjoyed our food and will visit again when in SB!

Yelp
Love Mony's, we did a wedding with them catering and they were AMAZING! I'm in the hospitality business (Central Coast Party Helpers) and we rely on good food, on time and delicious, Carlos and his tram are all that,

Yelp
The seating is outdoors, really pleasant with red umbrellas overhead and palm trees in view. Feels like a beachside joint really pleasant and laid back. Just after we ordered, a long line formed The stellar reviews are deceptive. The tortas looked lovely, but biting into one it was clear that there was way more bread and cheese than anything else. The meat was just bits and pieces , almost like ground beef. The bread tasted fresh, but it fell apart. Overall a real ripoff.

Yelp
Wow, can I take this place with me to Palm Springs??? This is the real Mexican food I remember as a child in southern California. This is a hole-in-a-wall shop, with kind front staff and excellent back staff as it speaks volumes with the food quality, presentation and taste. We're coming back here on our way up the PCH for sure.

Yelp
Even though it was very busy, it seemed to run pretty efficiently and had friendly service. Chips, guacamole and hot sauces were so tasty. Tried the fish tacos also and enjoyed them!

Yelp
This place is unreal! The perfect healthy bowl, with nice outdoor seating. All of the workers are great and the food comes out quick. So much flavor, prices are worth it honestly.

Yelp
April 19, 2022 Mony's Mexican Food was a good pick for some delicious tacos. The place is small with only outdoor dining. It was a hot day when we visited so we were really stocking one of the tables with an umbrella to shade us from the sun. Mission accomplished and we were seated onder the shade of a bright yellow umbrella. The place was packed and the line was about 6 people long, but the wait to get to the front of the line took a while. Finally at the front of the line and we stepped inside to place oiur order. Paid, got our reciept and the wait began. Our food arrived and everything looked good. We ordered a little bit of everything, and we took a sample of each salsa to try them all. For the tacos yop have a choice of tortillas you can have them in a corn, flour, or hard shell, we went with the corn tortillas. For starters we ordered the guacamole with chips. The chips were good and had a good crunch to them. The guacamole was just ok, we added salt and lime and it was better. Everyone enjoyed the guacamole. Taco al pastor was really good, good seasoning, good flavor, the meat was tender and juicy. I like that they did not skimp on the pineapple, because it adds flavor to the pastor flavoring. It was topped with onions, cilantro, and pineapple. The tortilla was fresh and soft biut didnt fall apart. Tacos de pescado were golden brown and crispy. They were topped of with lettuce and tomato. Tacos de carne asada were very good. Meat was tender and juicy topped with onions and cilantro. Tinga tacos were good too, meat was tender and juicy and it was topped off withonions and cilantro. However they were a bit too sweet for my taste. Chilaquiles were loaded. They were loaded with tomatoes onions cilantro and cheese and topped with an egg. They also had a side of beans and mexican rice. This was a good choice especially when your hungry with a big appetite. For drinks we oered cokes and squirt, they were the imported ones from Mexico and are a bit sweeter than the american ones. WE all really enjoyed the food here and will definitely return here again when we are in the area. Every food item we ordered was well prepared and flavorful. Come try for yourself, you wont be disappointed.

Yelp
Stopped in to get some crispy tacos. Was excited to try this place. What a complete disappointment . The tacos were super small with hardly anything inside them! I can't figure out why this place is so popular. It is definitely not the crispy tacos that are pretty crappy! Santa Barbara has a lot of better options.

Yelp
Why do I always find myself giving the coveted 5 stars to taco places? Am I stuck in a rut? Nah, I just love good food cooked with love! That describes Mony's to a Tee. Family owned and operated. Her son David cleans the floor and busses the dishes. Pretty much everyone does what needs to be done to keep this pace awesome! Mony's serves authentic, inexpensive tacos, burritos and the worlds homemade chips and Quac. Hands down the Chips and Quac is the star of the show. Lightly seasoned, fresh and warm, these chips are the perfect vehicle for Quac from heaven. Run, don't walk to Mony's.

Yelp
I highly recommend the carne asada burrito. The burrito was delicious and the price was very reasonable. Service was fast and efficient. Eating area was spacious and very peaceful, this was perfect for a day trip outing. :)

Yelp
Man, this place is awesome. Fresh Mexican food with great seasoning, salsas, top notch. I had the Mony's Burrito with Barbacoa; my friend got the Lengua Quesadilla. No indoor seating, all sidewalk dining.
