15 Essential Korean Restaurants to Try in Orange County | Eater LA

"The popular K-town soondae outpost expanded to OC with a location inside H Mart in Irvine. Its grew locally, which led to another expansion to Irvine Plaza on Barranca Parkway. The beef short rib soup and the beef back rib soup with glass noodles are the more approachable bowls for first timers but diners-in-the-know come for the soondae, Korean pork blood sausage. It’s served sliced or simmered in soup, which can also be ordered spicy. The soondae sampler is another option to share with the table." - Jenn Tanaka

Google
One of my favorite eats in the bay , it never disappoints. The food is always incredibly flavorful, fresh, and consistently delicious. The portions are great for the price. I have eaten here around 5 times and i must always get a different soup to try. The staff is very attentive. Sometimes the wait can be long on a weekend or with a bigger party. The literal only downside to this establishment is the parking lot gets full and has an awkward exit/entrance. Highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic, consistently great Korean food in Oakland!

Google
Food tastes fairly well. Highly recommend the rice cake noodles as those were delicious and a nice sized portion. Their fried chicken was good as well however I think Bonchon is better. Would not recommend the calamari. Be aware it is quite pricey

Google
It’s hard to find pig’s trotters in the Bay Area. Love it! Tender, juicy skin and meat wrapped by vegetables, garlic, pepper with pickles and yellow soybean. The food here is more delicious than many ones in Seoul . Service was great!👍

Google
We had a wonderful experience at Moo Bong Ri! The soups were our favorite, a perfect combination of being flavorful and light and the meat was incredibly good! Will definitely be back!

Google
This place is fantastic! I got their Galbi Jim’s with cheese added on top and also their pink rose noodles. I loved the texture of their rose noodles and it had such a great flavor. The Galbi Jim was big enough for 4 people and was delicious. Such a great place to eat at and they have parking available.

Google
MBR is my go-to for Korean blood sausage, I think it's better than some places I've been to in Seoul. We like how they serve atypical Korean dishes and opted for a shrimp-baby octopus-small intestine casserole this time. The portion size is enough to feed 4 people even though it's listed for 2, and we always bring leftovers home. Also, they make my favorite radish kimchi. Great value, we will keep coming back!

Google
Disappointing Experience – Don’t Be Fooled by the Reviews I was excited to try this restaurant because of the high ratings, but it turns out many of those reviews are likely influenced by the $5 off promotion for positive feedback. Unfortunately, the reality was very disappointing. The food was terrible—especially the chicken, which was oily, dry, and completely lacking flavor, yet somehow priced at $18. The sausages with rice noodles were no better: chewy, bland, and inedible. The overall quality just doesn't match the price. If you value your money and your time, I strongly recommend avoiding this place. You’re better off elsewhere.

Google
Best Galbi Tang in NorCal! I always order it whenever I’m here. Very authentic Korean Food - various dishes such as seollantang, blood sausage, squid along with the modern popular Korean Fried Chicken and Rose Tteokbokki! Fast and Efficient Service every time.

Yelp
The food here is really good! We all loved the naengmyeon, which was a perfect balance of savory, sour, etc with chewy noodles. The creamy tteokbeokki was great as well. I've never seen this style of long thin rice cake before, but it was good with the creamy sauce. The soup in the pork rib soup was also very savory and enjoyable with the rice and kimchi. Service was good. The waiter was able to point us out to allergy concerns and give helpful recommendations. The food arrived very fast as well. We waited a bit after arriving but the wait-list was smooth. The parking lot is a bit limited but spots freed up as it got later. The tables and seats were comfy, easily fitting a party of 6. Would totally come again with a large or small group

Yelp
If you don't want to be spit on, stay away !!! The guy at the front desk came to my table and started spraying!!! After I asked him to pull his mask up, he did not even apologize. Didn't even bother to cover his mouth afterwards Food: seollantang has lots of meat. Just disappointing broth. Fried chicken was ok, too much breading and quite salty. Service: terrible, horrible and all the bad in between

Yelp
No regrets about trying this place out! It reminded me so much of one of the restaurants I visited in Seoul, the vibe was amazing. The servers were very welcoming and friendly. We ordered the sausage soup combo and added $1 to make it spicy. We were debating whether to get the Bo Ssam, but I'm glad we tried the sausage dish first. It was so good. Condiments like fish paste, gochujang, spicy salt and pepper, and the basic salt and pepper were all readily available on the table as soon as we sat down. Even the utensils were tucked away in a small drawer under the table, something I've only seen in Korea. The banchans were super fresh too! We also ordered half of the Soy Garlic chicken and a full order of the Yangnyum chicken to-go for some friends who were drinking at home. They all loved it! They said it was perfectly crunchy and juicy. Definitely planning to come back to try the Bo Ssam next. The prices were very reasonable for the quality, and the flavors were so authentic. Giving 4 stars for now, but I'll update this after our next visit--which is happening soon!

Yelp
Overall this was pretty good! The seollang tang was flavorful and had lots of meat! The bossam also had various cuts which was nice. Service is quick and we had so much leftover for a second meal!

Yelp
I come here with my brother whenever we're feelin cold Korean noodles. My go to is the acorn noodle dish + can't pass up on the fried chicken (usually get the yangyum..sticky, crispy, spicy goodness). Never disappoints! Also..the workers (all of them, not just a subset) seem to always be enjoying themselves and getting along with each other, which I so appreciate. Service has always been kind. Also if you have soup leftovers, they'll seal it up for you in a vacuum seal thing (like the thing that seals boba drinks) so it doesn't spill!! If you come with a group, don't miss out on the casseroles/stews. I'm sure it won't be long before I'm back :))
google avatar

Yelp
A bit pricey, but omg. Food: We got the bossam and korean tteokgalbi and it was so filling and good. I loved the bossam the most, as it was super refreshing with the lettuce. Service: we came a bit late, but were super kind about us even though we came last hour. Ambiance: great place to eat inside and spacious!

Yelp
Came on a Sunday night at 8pm for dinner and was seated right away. We were here for lunch a couple months ago and food was great. Food still solid and enjoyed everything. We got the rice cake and dumpling soup, yangnum chicken, tater tots, and kimchee fried dumplings.
google avatar

Kathleen W.

Yelp
We got their fried chicken since that was the main dish I enjoyed the last time we had it. The chicken was very crispy and flavorful. The meat was quite tender and overall had a much better taste than the first visit~
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to MBR a handful of times and every single time, I want to come back to try their other dishes! At lunch, parking is not an issue. The lot is pretty small and there are other dining establishments, so when we came once for dinner, we actually had to park down the street in the residential area. Not horrible, but just be mindful. As for the food, the banchans vary based on what you order. I highly recommend the pork belly wraps (bossam), it's perfect for 4+ people. With only 4, we couldn't finish it and brought it home. The rose creamy rice cake dish reminds me of carbonara but Asian! It was delightfully sweet but creamy. The beef short rib soup with glass noodles were so fresh and tasted like comfort food. We've also ordered their spicy braised beef short ribs and it was a massive portion. For the price, it's a steal compared to Daeho. Their fried chicken cutlet was also amazing. There were two layers of meat and their salads complemented the fried meat. Lastly, their fried chicken is a must order. The chicken pieces were huge and the meat was perfectly proportioned to the batter. Overall, this is the place to get Korean food! Super laid-back, a little loud, but seating is perfectly for large groups or smaller with benches and tables and chairs.

Yelp
This place is amazing and worth going to. Service was great and food was even better. I tried the spicy braised beef short rib, beef short rib soup, and creamy rose spicy rice cake. - Spicy braised short rib was flavorful and had a kick but that spicy. Portion is huge. - Beef short rib soup was light. It was a great balance with the other two dishes heavy in their sauce. - Creamy rose spicy rice cake was good. Had a sweet taste to it. Rice cake was chewy. Also has fish cakes and sausages inside. Small parking lot outside the restaurant.
google avatar

Melissa P.

Yelp
Super solid spot for Korean short ribs! The rose tteobokki was also super saucy and flavorful. Daeho is still superior in my opinion although Moo Bong is up there too. Moo Bong keeps the short ribs in bigger chunks on the bone with also makes it a tiny bit chewier than the tender slides you find at Daeho. We came by on a Sunday evening around 8pm and waited for about 1 hour before getting seated. Shortly after the service was prompt and efficient. Ambiance is no frills and to the point, pretty spacious with good amount of large tables given the big dishes on the menu. Definitely would come back! Would love to try the chicken wings next time.
google avatar

Sherry L.

Yelp
Was craving some Korean food for lunch and was in the neighborhood. Not sure why I've never been here even though I've been to almost every other Korean place in the area. Got the fried soondae appetizer with the rice cake and dumpling soup. Portions are large. Both were pretty good. The menu isn't your typical Korean place, but I liked it because there are things you usually can't get elsewhere, like the soondae.
google avatar

Bobby L.

Yelp
Most of the dishes I've had here with friends have been heads, especially the carbonara pasta. My friends have gone as far as to bring their families to try it as well. Depending on who makes it though, it can be very spicy or more on the mild side. From what I can tell though a majority of their dishes are pretty solid, the picture below was a one off I suppose, but still adding it to my review. Unfortunately, no other pictures since someone decided to steal my phone in Japan (ooouf...)
google avatar

Long D.

Yelp
Good Korean food with changing innovative menu and cozy seating in small setting. Derive is quick and attentive. Line is long but no reservation. We ordered ox tail soup, Seolleongtang, need to add salt for taste, but the beef bone taste is really heavy. Mool Naeng Myeon cold buckwheat noodle topped radish, cucumber & boiled egg served in cold beef broth is sweet and clean the palate. Casserole is fulfilling. Parking is tight, had to park one block down the street. Will come back to try other items in the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here with a group of 10 and we had a great time. We had the creamy rice cake- it tastes like some sort of Korean American fusion dish. It's on the sweeter side and the rice cake does not have the typical chewy texture, but I really like it. We also ordered the blood sausage and I'm not a fan of the texture. The fried chicken was done perfectly- freshly made. The original flavor tasted bland and better consumed with some salt/pepper. The kimchi fried rice performed good and average. We all loved the bossam. It's a big portion that is perfect for sharing. The homemade banchan was really great. They tasted homey and with the right level of spices. I will definitely come back!

Yelp
Came to Moo Bong Ri on a Tuesday night with my parents after reading rave reviews about them. We found parking in their lot and were seated immediately. The restaurant is spacious, and it's fun they have Kpop videos and music playing. For 3 people we paid about 64$ before tip to split their bo ssam (pork belly napa cabbage wraps) and soy garlic chicken wings. The bo ssam is definitely worth it! And the wings were so crispy and flavorful. Loved their banchan. And we took home leftovers. Service was friendly and quick. We'll definitely come back again - can't wait to try more dishes.
google avatar

Elaine C.

Yelp
Pro tip: don't wear a white shirt if you're going to order the spicy braised beef short rib--this sauce stains! Some cuts of meat were a little funky and difficult to chew, and the meat could have been more tender, but everything else was done very well. They use lots of cabbage and winter melon in their kalbijjim instead of the usual potatoes and carrots. Definitely add on the glass noodles since those and the rice cakes soak up all the flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by the traditional blood sausage soup, which was a light, milky broth that perfectly contrasted the rich flavor of the kalbijjim. The soup dish actually came with a decent amount of meat, but next time I'll just get the platter of blood sausage. Blood sausage is filled with glass noodles and delicious--don't be intimidated by the name. The banchan is limited but high quality. Service is extremely quick, and the interior is nice and cozy. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the Oakland area and craving Korean comfort food.

Yelp
Good food and service. Place is nice. The soup is not as good as Sun Nong Dan in Southern California Workers are friendly. Takeout packaging is great, very secure, liquids are sealed
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Mmmm Moo Bong Ri has a lot of great food options. I personally love the soups, but they also have fried chicken, meats, noodles and more. The blood sausage soup is so amazing, but I like to get the combo with which includes another side of blood sausages and meat on the side! Love the side dishes they offer here as well. I also got the Spicy assorted pork soup which was super spicy and had lots of pork and ingredients, it definitely cleared up my sinuses haha. It was so spicy, halfway through the soup I ended up adding some of the broth from the blood sausage soup to make it a tad less spicier haha. Both dishes were so amazing and it's a big portion so I was definitely stuffed. Lunch and dinner they might get a bit busy, but they usually have tables open during off hours.
google avatar

Grace M.

Yelp
Galbi Jim was delicious and we also ordered the wings and tater tots, our friends usual order. Everything came out hot and fresh and service was attentive. Situated in a corner of a small strip mall parking may be tough to find but is usually best along the street behind.
google avatar

Juliet C.

Yelp
We come here pretty often because the food is great. Parking is usually hard to find but not impossible if you don't mind walking a few blocks. Restaurant is always clean and lively. Can get loud when it's busy. Came on a Friday around dinner time and only had to wait about 10 mins for a table for 2. We ordered our usual: bibim naengmyeon, boneless soy garlic chicken, and the pork fried dumplings. The bibim naengmyeon is always a hit for us. It looks spicy but honestly isn't. The noodle is always cold and refreshing and filling. The boneless soy garlic chicken was okay this time, it was dry and mostly batter than meat. We used to order the bone-in chicken but it was always dry and chewy so we started ordering the boneless because it was more tender. The flavor is always on point though, sweet and crispy. The pork dumpling was a new order for us and they were huge! The inside was packed with pork filling. I would order it again if I was in the mood for it. Service was decent this time could be better especially from our waiter. Our waiter took our orders really quick, grabbed the menus and walked away. Food took about 30ish mins to come but we didn't mind the wait since we were just snacking on the assortment of kimchi. Once our food came, our waiter never checked in on us until we were done eating and ready for our check. They could work on their service a bit. Everyone else was super nice especially the busboys who would sometimes drop off our food with a big smile.
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
One of our new go to spots! But come early or else you'll need to wait. The beef short ribs are super yummy however its no longer spicy and just sweet now so that's a bit disappointing. We never had acorn noodles before but it has become one of our top dishes!! Great for both big and small groups.
google avatar

Jia M.

Yelp
Was craving a heartwarming dish so we got the army stew for 2 people! The portions were generous and we had a lot of leftovers!
google avatar

Yelp
ONE OF MY FAVORITE KOREAN RESTAURANTS IN THE BAY!! You know it's authentic when you walk in and there's mostly korean diners cheering at each table. Let me tell you--quality of every dish was just IMPECCABLE and the proportions were insane. The creamy rose spicy rice cakes were perfectly spiced and had the most ideal texture. The longer thin rice cakes is something I don't usually see at restaurants but omg were they so yum (I still think about them). The fried dumplings were soooo crispy and had the perfect meat to wrapper ratio. And the fried chicken wings with soy garlic sauce--just simply delicious. Even their banchan was so delectable. One of my favorite kimchis I've had since the cabbage and radish was so crisp and not soggy at all. (My friend also loved their potato salad). The service was great and I loved that the tables had built in drawers filled with all the utensils and napkins you'd need. A restaurant that truly made me ECSTATIC to have leftovers to enjoy the next day.
google avatar

Judy L.

Yelp
Service was decent and food was good with the exception of the radish kimchi that appeared to be soggy/old. Restaurant was clean and ambiance was nice for family, would not suggest large parties. The menu appears to have changed, Possible change in ownership. Previously 5 star experience, however, this one may have been a missed.
google avatar

Florence K.

Yelp
Such a good Korean place in Oakland! We came on a Friday night and there was a waitlist on Yelp. We added ourselves and got seated within 15-20 minutes. We ordered so much food and it was so worth it. We got the rose rice cake (5/5 - basically tastes like udon cause of the long rice cake and not too spicy at all), bossam (4/5 - a little bit dry), cold noodles (5/5 - the soup was so good), and galbi tang (5/5 - honestly what they're known for) plus soju and beer. Honestly such a good place that I would come back again!
google avatar

Isabel T.

Yelp
The way I think about this place so often... Ordered: Fried chicken (not pictured), pork belly wraps, creamy rose tteokbokki, pork rib soup. Highlights: Highly recommend the creamy rose tteokbokki. I've never had creamy tteokbokki like this and I STILL dream about it. The cakes were in noodle form like extra large udon. I took it home (fought my friends) and somehow it tasted even better as leftovers? The wraps and soup were also so flavorful. Portions are huge for all so def bring a friend or two! They also wrap and pack the leftovers for you which is super clutch. Notes: I've gone twice now and learned to pass on the fried chicken. It was good when we ordered the first time but it was more chicken skin than meat. If that's your vibe then go for it! Service: great, no notes. We had to wait a little on a Thursday night but so worth it.
google avatar

Christy L.

Yelp
It's hard to find a restaurant that has good balance between flavor, comfort, and quality. Moo Bong Ri has all those aspects and was such a comforting meal after all long airplane ride. The food is portioned well, although pricey you get what you pay for. The 딱잘비 and crispy fried chicken were marinated to perfection. The casserole style dish was meant for two, but my family of four still had so much leftover. The service is fast, but since it's a popular spot be expected to wait. Getting on the waitlist before going is highly recommended. It also gets pretty packed at night since the food pairs well with drinks.
google avatar

Jamie D.

Yelp
A solid Korean soup spot that hits the mark--but a few minor dips stop it from being perfect. Tried the Army Stew (budae jjigae)--rich, hearty, and packed with flavorful meats, sausage, tofu, and veggies. Comforting and well-seasoned without being salty. Also had the Ox Bone Soup (seolleongtang)--a soothing, creamy broth that's simple yet satisfying, perfect when you want something mild and restorative. Portions are generous and come with tasty banchan. The space is casual, seating is easy to find, and service is efficient and upbeat--even during quieter times . Not a full five stars only because certain meat cuts can be hit-or-miss, and the menu isn't extensive. But if you're craving comforting Korean soups that feel custom-made, this place delivers. Would definitely come back for those stews and a bowl of cozy broth.
google avatar

Lynn N.

Yelp
We came back for a dinner here, and tried new dishes. All of them were so good and hearty. We were immediately seated, and the service is super quick. With lots of seating, we were lucky to have an open table considering how popular this place is. I got the beef short rib soup, and it was super warm and comforting. Definitely a great meal for a cold day. It also has a very big portion size. We also got the Seafood Stir Fried Noodles and Sausage Soup. Both dishes were super filling and flavorful. Next time, we will try even more new dishes!
google avatar

Alicia L.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from this location to get Korean fried chicken - their "crispy fried chicken". I was really upset to find out their chicken isn't even crispy or even battered for that matter. It was simply deep fried in oil. If I wanted chicken wings like it came from wing stop, I would've gone there.. -_- This looks absolutely nothing like their pictures on their menu so I was severely disappointed...
google avatar

Alexei I.

Yelp
Delicious. Also package of your food very nicely for you for any leftovers Highly recommend
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Came back again to try something different! We got the pork belly wrap and it was honestly super worth it. Anytime I'm craving rice cakes I always gotta get the rose one! I love how fast and polite the servers are as well! Def a must try, hole in the wall place
google avatar

Seth E.

Yelp
We had a group of 6 once again and waited about 30 minutes before we were seated. Aside from the dishes that I've tried before which we ordered, some new dishes that I tried were the Pork Belly Wraps (Bo Ssam) and the Fried Calamari. I loved the bo ssam! Eating the pork belly with kimchi wrapped together by cabbage was really satisfying. There was less cabbage than meat surprisingly, so I resorted to eating the pork belly on its own or along with the other entrees. The fried calamari was also solid and paired well with the tartar sauce. The to-go boxes were a cool concept. The staff gave us boxes to fill with leftover food from our meal. They took the boxes back and then sealed them with plastic on top. It keeps the food safe on the drive back home! Always have and always will be impressed with this place!

Yelp
Got seated right away at 5 PM on a Saturday night. It's a loud place, and my table was no exception to the vibes. They have a pretty large menu so it might be hard to narrow down what you want. The portions are large, and you do get a couple banchan to round out your meal. We ordered: Galbijim MBR wings in Soy Garlic Creamy Rose' Spicy Rice Cake The wings are an absolute yes, just wish they had a spicy soy garlic option. Maybe next time, I'll ask. The rice cakes were so good! They're creamy and not overly sweet. I love the shape, as it's kinda like a chewy pasta. The galbi jim was just okay. The sauce was good but when you've had Daeho, it just can't compare. The cheese comes pre-melted so you don't get the fun torching experience. There wasn't an option to add veggies either, but do make sure you add noodles if you're getting this. The glass noodles soak up the sauce and it's super flavorful. The main reason I wouldn't order this again is because the meat wasn't tender enough. There were hella bones and you had to really gnaw at the meat to get it off. For a pretty pricey dish, I can't justify not loving it. The medium comes with 2 rice, but its plenty to feed 2-4 people, depending on what else you're ordering. I love that the utensils, napkins, etc are under the side of the table. Water jugs aren't clear so they won't know you need a refill unless you ask. Our waiter only checked on us a couple times, and pretty far in between so if you need something, you might need to get up and find somebody. We were pretty loud (we're loud people) but nobody seemed to mind too much, so this is the place for you if you're like us. They're located right next to a bunch of other restos and a karaoke room, as well as a bars down the street. There is a tiny lot, but parking will be a bit difficult during peak hours.

Yelp
Whenever I come here, I always get this and it's one of my Korean friend's favorite dish and place to go whenever she visits Berkeley. The food is amazing and the service is just as good. Always love coming here when I can and can never go wrong with any of their dishes.
google avatar

Michelle Z.

Yelp
Cozy and homey spot in Oakland with a ton of soup options! The portions were generous for the price. I got the rice cake & dumpling soup and it was super fragrant. The rice cakes and dumplings were a bit more soggy than I prefer but it was still very yummy. Ambiance inside was chill and the service was friendly and very fast. They also have a unique tteokbokki dish that looks great.

Yelp
"A restaurant where you can enjoy clean and flavorful Korean hot pot dishes" Food: I ordered delivery via Uber Eats and tried both the sundae-guk (Korean blood sausage soup) and galbi-tang (beef short rib soup). The broth for both was clean and tasty. Each dish was around $20. Both soups came with a generous amount of meat, so I was very full. The sundae pieces were a bit small, but considering it's the U.S., I was satisfied. The kimchi that came with the meal was also sweet and delicious. Service: Basic condiments (pepper, salt, salted shrimp) were well-provided. The delivery arrived on time without any issues. Ambiance: Although I haven't dined in person, the place is set up like a food court, so it's good for a quick and compact meal. It can be a bit noisy, though.

Yelp
This cozy Korean spot in the Temescal area of Oakland is one of my favorite Asian restaurants period. Love taking my family and friends here for a good time. It's also super close to a lot of other good restaurants, breweries, and bars as well. Parking is always a bit of a hassle and sometimes there's a wait but it's well worth it. The food here is delicious and the service is good.

Yelp
Came here for a late dinner around 8:15 PM for a party of two. We did street parking since the parking lot was cramped. We put our name down immediately and it took us an hour to get seated. I recall going to this place before when they had an additional room, but it seems like they don't have that anymore. There's limited seating. A lot of families were eating dinner. We definitely ate with our eyes. We got the bossam, creamy rose tteokbokki, and an order of half-half fried chicken. The portions for everything was HUGE. Creamy rose tteokbokki - This was absolutely massive and honestly it could've been dinner if we got just this one item. I've never had rice cake with this texture. It wasn't thick like your typical rice cake, more of a noodle-like consistency. Really delicious but recommend having more than one person to share with. It doesn't keep well the next day in the fridge as it becomes one big block. Half-half fried chicken - Half spicy, half classic fried chicken! The pieces were fresh, hot, and crispy. The meat was moist inside. This could've easily been our only item for dinner too. Bossam - This was massive! The pieces of pork belly were big and had a good ratio of fat to meat. I like how evenly everything was cut. Wrapped with the sides, a piece of meat, and warm piece of cabbage, you have the perfect bite. There were other salts and sides like fish on the table that paired well with our meal. While the food was good, I wish that there was a better estimate of time and timing. We were literally the second last people to eat, and we ate for around 20 minutes before we were ushered out since they were cleaning; we ate from 9:15 to 9:40. Overall I'd totally recommend this spot; just be aware of the seating, portions, and wait time.

Yelp
I don't each much Korean food so when I do, I will go to good places. I came here for my cousin's birthday last year and it was so delicious. The portions are huge..... I got a number of items to share. The seafood stir fried noodles, beef short ribbed soup, half and half crispy fried chicken and soy garlic chicken and creamy rose spicy rice cake. I loved that they provide descriptions of the food in the menu. The creamy rose spicy rice cake - braised noodled like cakes with fish cakes, sausages, onions, cabbage and scallions in a house made creamy rose ttokbokki sauce. This alone is to die for. I think about this dish often and how well this place executes it. So creamy and so delicious. 10/10 Mixed chicken was great. Could be crispier but the flavor is great. Not overly breaded. 8/10 Stir fried noodles - Udon noodles with octopus, shrimp and assorted veggies topped with katsuobrushi. Interested flavor 8/10 Braised short rib soup - beef short rib with green onion and class noodles in clear beef broth. Nothing special, but it hit the spot and warmed up our tummies. 9/10 Great service. The utensils are under the table so you can grab what you need when you need it. No outside drinks allowed. They were nice enough to keep our matchas refrigerated while we dined.

Yelp
Service is good, they box your food for you! Nothing much to say about the restaurant interior. It's clean and simple. Got the spicy beef tofu soup, but they diluted it too much when I asked for a bit less spice, so the soup ended up tasting kind of bland. She looked very pretty and spicy still!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Moo Bong Ri for a while since I discovered it and I finally got to try it last Saturday. Moo Bong Ri shares a plaza with a few other businesses (including Don Blanc and Jaguar Karaoke). The plaza also has a small private parking lot! We got the rose tteokbokki and bibim naengmyeon. Based on the reviews, the rose tteokbokki looked like a favorite and we were not disappointed! The thin long rice cakes had a great texture and sauce was creamy with a hint of spice. The bibim naengmyeon was spicy and refreshing! Both were great portions for sharing and prices for our items were very reasonable! There were 2 of us in my party, and we had plenty of leftovers when we were finished. They provided us with great service and tended to everything we needed! They even provided tea when asked. They even packed up our leftovers in a sealed container for us! Really great experience! Hope to try their galbijjim (braised short ribs) next time!

Yelp
This place was such a hidden gem nestled in north Oakland. Let me say the rose tteokboki is what got me wanting to make the trip out there and am glad I did. It's so hard to find a place that makes good tteokboki let alone rose tteokbokki. It was one of the best that I've ever had. The rice cake noodles was soo soft and chewey. It was absolutely flavorful and delicious. We also got the Moo Bong Ri special which were short ribs with rice cakes as well. The short ribs was also amazingly delicious and practically fell off the bones. It was so well flavored and tender that paired with the rose tteokboki was just superb. On top of this, they also offered rice punch that pairs so well with these dishes.

Yelp
A very solid Korean spot!!! The prices are similar to SF prices but they give you very big portions. We got a nengmyun and yukgaejang kalguksu and they were both very good and authentic. There is a parking lot directly in front of the restaurant which was convenient. We went on a Friday night and waited around 20 minutes! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Don't get the donkatsu here. It took a long time to get it. I think I they were thawing the pork. It's rubbery and can't even chew it. What a waste of money.

Yelp
The #1 food I highly recommend is Spicy Braised Short Ribs, it is a must try. I did not add cheese because it will be too much. The Blood Sausage Soup was okay, a lot of filling so there was not much space for soup. Not that I was not grateful but I like to have soup with meal. The taste was good. It is best if you come with friends because the portion is big. But if you can't it's fine, bring left over home, it is still taste good next day.

Yelp
We went here for my sister's birthday and there was a short wait. We were seated quickly, we've been here w couple times and there has never been a time of not leaving satisfied. The pork belly was tender and the cabbage gave a refreshing crunch. The noodles were spicy and sweet and honestly, I wanted to order another! We also got soju and beer for the table. The tables are spaced out and it's a great place for celebrating occasions. All the food is family style and a great place to either hang out with friends/ family or even a cute date spot! 10/10 service. They even kept our cake in the fridge to cut for dessert for the birthday which was really sweet! Would highly recommend coming here.

Yelp
This place has been on my list for a while, and I wanted to have some soju, so I decided to stop by. I've tried coming a couple times before, and there was always a wait. Our party of two arrived at around 6:40 PM on a Friday, and we ended up waiting half an hour, which wasn't too bad. We ordered the following: - Creamy Rose Spicy Rice Cake with sausage - I thought the rice cakes had a great chewiness and the flavor was creamy as advertised. Unfortunately, the sausage pretty much just tasted like a hot dog, so that add-on was not worth getting. - Beef Short Rib Soup - This was excellent and comparable to other good Korean places in the area. - Soul Night Soju - I enjoyed the crisp taste, though it was pretty strong for me. Overall, I enjoyed my time here. The food tasted good, and they use a lot of reusable foodware (see Eco Notes below). However, I know I can get similar quality food at other nearby Korean places without the wait, so I probably won't be back unless someone I know really wants to come or I'm interested in trying something here that you can't really get anywhere else. ECO NOTES (Dine-In) Dine-In Dishware: Reusable plates and bowls Napkins: Single-use disposable paper napkin in a wooden box (so it's easy to use your own)* Utensils: Metal chopsticks and spoons in a wooden box* Water cups: Metal cups *All of these were in a tray that slid out from under the table. First time I've ever seen that!
