15 Essential Korean Restaurants to Try in Orange County | Eater LA

"The popular K-town soondae outpost expanded to OC with a location inside H Mart in Irvine. Its grew locally, which led to another expansion to Irvine Plaza on Barranca Parkway. The beef short rib soup and the beef back rib soup with glass noodles are the more approachable bowls for first timers but diners-in-the-know come for the soondae, Korean pork blood sausage. It’s served sliced or simmered in soup, which can also be ordered spicy. The soondae sampler is another option to share with the table." - Jenn Tanaka

I had a nice dining experience here. Had the spicy beef soft tofu soup, garlic pork belly wraps and a few sojus. 👍 The food portions were larger than expected. 👍 The prices were reasonable. 👍 Wide variety of dishes in their menu that are harder to find at other Korean restaurants. 👍 Service was exceptional given it was a full house.

Google
This was my first time here the and I was looking for soup and Bossam. The Seol Leong Tang was good and tasty and the Bossam with Garlic was a huge portion, but the garlic was a bit overkill for me. The garlic tasted very mild in flavor and slightly sweet. Nor what I was expecting, so I should have ordered the regular Bossam. It was a good experience overall.

Google
Popular Korean food. They are known for the blood sausage. We came on a Monday at the opening time 4:30. No wait. We had both hot soup and cold noodles. All great. They also seals the to g o containers so no leak. I thought that is very thoughtful touch. Small parking g lot, but lots of street parking.

You know you’re in the right place as soon as you notice that the utensils and dishes are toxin-free metals, good for you, good for the environment! Then come the appetizers, including rice (which would have been enough for my solo weekday lunch outing). They are gracious when it comes to portions, so a group outing is best suited for this experience. I ordered the Spicy Beef Short Rib Soup, perfect for a cold day. It arrived in a large metal bowl, and the soup is beautiful with its vibrant red color. I’m no expert in Korean food, but whether you call it Korean or simply good food, it’s excellent from the colors to the taste in your mouth. It’s just perfect. Well worth the $25 lunch with two large ribs floating in the soup. Surely a must-try place!

Fantastic cooking skills with truly fresh ingredients. Particularly recommend the Nakgopse Authentic Korean food. Clean. Fast service. Great vibe. Excellent kimchi quality. Will come back.

Google
One of my favorite eats in the bay , it never disappoints. The food is always incredibly flavorful, fresh, and consistently delicious. The portions are great for the price. I have eaten here around 5 times and i must always get a different soup to try. The staff is very attentive. Sometimes the wait can be long on a weekend or with a bigger party. The literal only downside to this establishment is the parking lot gets full and has an awkward exit/entrance. Highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic, consistently great Korean food in Oakland!

Google
Amazing food, amazing service as usual. Get the spicy soondae soup. Make sure to come early on weekends to skip the line, there could be a wait on weekday nights. The menu is quite expansive but every item is worth trying! This is one of the few places in the Bay area that has gamjatang

Google
This experience was quite disappointing. We ordered many dishes and couldn’t finish everything, so we asked to pack the leftovers. One of the dishes was pig trotters with garlic and green peppers — the garlic and peppers were clearly part of the dish. However, when packing, the staff did not include them. For this dish, I think the garlic is essential to the flavor. I politely asked if they could pack the garlic and peppers, but the staff refused. I don’t understand why such a simple and reasonable request was denied. The attitude was cold and unhelpful, which ruined our dining experience.

Yelp
Delicious food and huge servings! Will be coming back for more! Delicious food and huge servings! Will be coming back for more! I just wanna leave a simple and truthful review but this review thing is asking me to write at least 85 characters, wtf?

Yelp
One of my favorite Korean spots in the Bay Area. It's a fun place for a night out with friends, but definitely expect a wait. We were a party of four on a Friday night around 7:30 PM and wait about an hour. Must-haves: -MBR Wings (Soy Garlic): Juicy wings with a crispy batter, lightly tossed in a savory soy garlic glaze. They always come out freshly fried, and the wings are a great size. No skimpy pieces here. -Rose Tteokbokki: Made with thinner, longer tteok, almost like tteokbokki "spaghetti." It's cooked in a creamy gochujang sauce that's rich but not overpowering, which I actually prefer over the usual tteokbokki sauce. There's also a nice kick of spice. -Assorted Intestine Soup: Not for everyone, but if you're into this kind of dish, it's excellent. Served bubbling hot, slightly spicy, and the intestines are cleaned properly. Finished with perilla leaves, which adds a nice herbaceous and nutty flavor. We also ordered the medium-sized Galbijjim, which was supposed to be enough for two people. The portions were very generous and we had plenty leftover. Flavor was good, though I personally would've liked the meat a bit more tender. Lastly, their house-made kimchi and kkakdugi are fermented and seasoned perfectly.

Yelp
Met up with a coworker who drove to this place for lunch. We were lucky and got a parking spot bc it is located in a small business strip with other food places so the parking lot was filled up. Even though my fried. Recommended this place, I knew it had to be good when authentic older Koreans were eating here in groups. We had a noodle dish, soup, and fried chicken which was perfectly crunchy. The food was very filling and loved how they sealed the leftovers for us to bring home and keep fresh!

Yelp
Got a bit too adventurous with their traditional blood sausage soup combo. They give you enough protein to begin with. I wasn't able to finish it all in one sitting. I'm also not used to seasoning it myself. Definitely needed to go a bit harder on the seasoning. Anyway I thought it was a pretty good price and I haven't seen this offered in other korean restaurant I've been to. Excited to come back and try their other items! Side note: was not impressed with the fried chicken. The sauce mainly sat on the bottom. The chicken had little sauce so the flavor was lacking. Other than that the chicken had good crispy texture.

Yelp
Great Korean food in the east bay. My favorite is the rose ddeokbokki. It is a massive plate that can honestly just be a meal itself. All their servings are very big so if you're by yourself or with one other person, I would just stick to one dish. They place isn't massive so there is usually a line. The parking isn't great either so be prepared to spend some time looking for parking and waiting to be seated. Otherwise, the service is pretty standard and food is great. It's not the cheapest, but it is reasonable for the bay area. They do have kpop blasting in the restaurant, so if that isn't your vibe, prepare for that.

Yelp
Finally decided to give this place a try since we noticed the line whenever we visited Don Blanc. I supposed they are known for their casserole. A casual eatery, small and.clean. We came on a weekday so we got seated right the way. Looks like the pork belly Salm was popular and most of the dishes on the menu were meat focus. So we decided to order an army stew, the kimchi dumpling and the garlic wings. The stew was quite salty and I think the wings we okay. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes. Their bancjan though was excellent.

Yelp
MBR had great selection of items to try, ranging from soups/stews to Korean fried chicken. We went as a party of 3 and opted for the beef short rib stew and soy garlic chicken. The stew had good flavor but the meat was not as tender as I would have liked it to be. Many pieces had more bone than it did meat. However, I may be a bit biased coming from the South Bay and comparing it to the likes of Daeho. The Korean fried chicken was just okay. We all felt like it could have used a bit more sauce for flavoring. However the crispness of the skin was perfect. Overall, it was a decent meal and we all left with a full stomach!

Yelp
Solid spot for Korean food in Oakland. They do a great job on a wide variety of dishes. From crispy wings, to soft tteokbokki, everything was very tasty. My family and I came on a rainy weekend for lunch-- thankfully no wait! What we ordered in ranked order: * Bossam - pork belly was tasty!! Just wish it came with more cabbage (extra charge for more) * Rosé tteokbokki - good texture and sauce * MBR Chicken wings - good fry! Nice and crispy * Seol long tang - refreshing, but wasn't my favorite Kimchi was good too! Service is OK. Need to be assertive if you need something. Ambiance is cozy. Good for groups smaller than 4 people. Parking can be hard to find. Overall, would recommend checking out!

Yelp
Great place to eat with family and friends. Located in a small little plaza with limited parking, this place serves a variety of staple Korean dishes. I'm huge on gamjatang- the fam and I ordered their serving good for 4. It was delicious, but the meat could have been cooked a little bit longer. It wasn't as tender, fall off the bone tha I'm usually used to. Their KFC had nice flavors. Meat was a bit hard, wish it had more of a crunch. Otherwise, their pasta was soooooo good. Highly recommend! Service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
Came for dinner on Thanksgiving Day and had a surprisingly short wait. Arrived at 6:35 PM and was seated by 6:50 PM. Each table has a hidden utensil drawer on the side and note that the fried chicken takes about 20 minutes to prepare, so plan ahead if you order it. We ordered the rose rice cakes, calamari, a half order of soy garlic chicken, the spicy beef rib soup, and the pork rib stew. Banchan came out quickly at 6:54 PM: pickled onions with jalapeños, kimchi, and kimchi radish, plus a side of radish with the chicken. The pickled onions were excellent, spicy with a great kick. Kimchi was standard, and the radish was refreshing. Rose rice cakes arrived at 6:59 PM. The portion size was quite big. The sauce was sweet probably something I would've loved as a kid on a cold, rainy day what with the sliced up hotdog and fish cakes. Calamari leaned more toward overcooked squid; a bit tough for my taste. It was also more battered than squid, which was a bit disappointing. I did dip it in the sauce that made it taste quite good though. Spicy beef rib soup was the standout dish of the night, fall-off-the-bone meat, perfect level of heat, and really flavorful. Could've used a touch of salt, but that's easy to adjust at the table. Absolutely delicious. Pork rib stew was interesting... uhh I dunno how to really describe it... earthy and herbal definitely not the flavor profile wasn't for me. When the soy garlic chicken came out, my friend said his boneless breast piece was dry, but the drumstick was astronomically better. I thought it was pretty good overall though. There are parts of the chicken that are more dry then others, but that's what happens when you fry a whole chicken. Overall: It's a good restaurant if you know what to order. Some dishes are fantastic and make the meal worth it; others you could easily get better elsewhere. No shade, just the reality of the menu.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday night, and it was fairly quiet, so we didn't have to wait long to be seated. We ordered the seolleongtang with assorted meats. The soup comes unseasoned, and you're meant to salt it yourself using the provided salted shrimp, salt, pepper, and chili paste. It also included noodles. The broth was very rich and thick--if you let it sit, you could see a layer of oil form on top. Overall, it was hearty, filling, and came with a generous amount of meat. We were also craving fried chicken and ordered half soy garlic and half yangnyeom. The menu does warn that the chicken takes longer to prepare, which was fine, and it arrived piping hot. Unfortunately, that's where things went downhill. The quality of the chicken didn't seem great--it didn't feel very fresh and was noticeably overcooked. The dark meat pieces were okay, but the white meat was extremely dry and hard to chew. Flavor-wise, both the soy garlic and yangnyeom were overwhelmingly sweet, to the point where sweetness was the only flavor we could taste. The chicken ended up feeling dry, sticky, and one-dimensional. I wouldn't recommend the fried chicken here and would go elsewhere for better Korean fried chicken. Service was also lacking. The staff never came by to check on us or refill our water. We even placed the water jug at the edge of the table to signal we needed a refill, but no one noticed. Eventually, we had to get up to flag someone down. After we finished eating, we also waited quite a while just to get our check. The servers weren't rude, but they were inattentive--especially considering how quiet the restaurant was that night. Overall, this was a mixed experience with some decent food but notable issues with the chicken and service, earning it three stars.

Yelp
Came by for lunch on a weekend. The lunch rush by then died down, so we were seated right away. The menu is quite extensive. There are a lot of options of Korean foods - can get something more traditional like their soups or something more Westernized like the fried items. There's something for everyone. Ended up getting the large spicy acorn noodles, sausage soup combo, and pork belly wraps. It ended up being a lot of food for four people at a decent price point. The bossam was amazing - the pork was so tender. The soup was very heavy in pork flavor and such a good way to wash everything down. The soondae was good. They ran out of a specific type that goes in the combo, so supplemented with something else. Acorn noodles weren't very spicy. A very good option for a carb item. It comes with a lot of greens too, so it doesn't feel too monotonous. A solid place for Korean food if you're in the area.

Yelp
Whenever I visit Oakland and crave Korean food I will go to Moo Bong Ri. Love their fried chicken with garlic soy sauce and spicy galbi jjim. Big portion, great quality, always have to pack home some leftover which they plastic sealed for your convenient to reheat at home. The restaurant is always busy during dinner time, I waited about 30-40mins during my last visit for Friday's dinner. Staff provided good services, the ambience is good for small and medium groups of people, also serve alcohol.

Yelp
One of my favorite go-to Korean places!! There is usually a small wait because the restaurant isn't huge, but well worth it. Portions are big, prices are reasonable, and flavors are delicious. Service is decent as well. I always leave happy! This time we ordered the Bossam, Rose Tteok-bokki, and pork soup. We usually order the fried chicken as well, yum! My only complaint is that the parking lot here sucks, so you would have to find street parking. Usually not too difficult though.

Yelp
On a wet rainy day, we didn't feel like cooking so my husband found this spot for lunch. We were able to get seated right away on a Saturday during lunch time. The menu has a ton of Korean classics and it was so hard not to order everything! We did end up choosing the Spicy Braised Beef Short Ribs (매운갈비찜) in medium to share. We also added the Glass Noodles and Cheese for $5 extra. At first we weren't sure if it would be enough for us since we were really hungry, but our waitress warns us about ordering more because the medium was already a lot for two people even though it's listed as two servings. While we waited for our food, we got two kinds of kimchi which both tasted so fresh. When the food arrived, we knew right away we wouldn't be able to finish it. The portion was massive and made the price actually pretty reasonable for short ribs. The flavor was great and it wasn't that spicy. There were rice cakes underneath, which were cooked well so that they were soft but still chewy. The glass noodles are a must! I just wished they put a little bit more in there for $5. The cheese was good but could have been a little more melted so it was just one glob that we ended up cutting up with scissors. The meat was tender and juicy! Overall delicious meal and very filling. We're definitely coming back again to try more of their menu!

Yelp
Nice spot for rice cake and dumpling soup with fried chicken. The self serve utensil drawer with napkins is convenient. The assorted pork soup was a little too porky for our taste but we enjoyed the addition of soft tofu. The rice cake and dumpling soup was a winner. Fried chicken was also very good - crispy and fresh. The makgeolli Korean rice drink was also good and served with large metal bowls. They make food to order and you can tell. The restaurant and bathroom were clean and it's nice they have two bathrooms since it's a small place.

Yelp
Had a craving for some Korean food in particular for the spicy braised short ribs, I came across this restaurant in Yelp and decided to try due to their good reviews. Even though we were only eating for two, we decided to order the large size of braised short ribs so we can have some leftover and the difference in price wasn't that much. It's $69 for small (1-2 people) and $$83 for large (3-4). The ribs tasted so good, but I think I would prefer spicier sauce next time. I wish they would have asked the level of spiciness. I asked the waitress something to make the sauce a bit spicy, and she gave me some fresh chilli cut. We also ordered some Korean fried chicken (half order). The portion was also pretty big and the sauce tasted hot and sweet (it's called Yangnyum sauce). Overall, I will definitely make another visits in the future when I have the craving for some Korean food and to try some other delicious options.

Yelp
The kalbitang was really really good. The bossam was also great, not the best I've had (especially compared to the ones you can get in Seoul...), but potentially the best I've had in the US? Service was friendly. It's a pretty casual joint, come with friends for some soju and some shareable dishes.

Yelp
Love this place. Brought my family here this time! Sooo yummy as always. Love the table set up where they have this little drawer that pulls out with all the napkins, silverware, and extra bowls. We ordered the braised beef short ribs for 2, mool naeng myeon cold noodles, brisket on rice, and soy garlic fried chicken. Also came with lots of kimchi and pickled radish banchan. And rice! Spicy braised beef short ribs: 5/5 SO GOOD. HUGE portion. Could be enough to feed 6 people. Took home leftovers. The meat right off the bone was so soft and flavorful and literally melted in my mouth. The rice cakes were the perfect chewiness and really soaked up the soup flavor. Mool naeng myeon cold noodles: 5/5 So refreshing. Amazing texture of the buckwheat noodles. Very hard to pull apart because they were so long, which means they're high quality. Came with cucumber and pickled radish slices too. Brisket on rice: 4/5 Yummy but nothing too special. Came with some beef broth which tasted delicious when soaking the rice in it. Also got some crispy rice from the bottom! The chives really added to the flavor. Soy garlic fried chicken: 4/5 Don't usually get fried chicken just because of the low nutritional value but indulged myself in a piece today. It was so crispy on the outside. Amazing soy garlic flavor. Coated really evenly could barely tell there was a coat! Inside was a bit drier than I would have preferred but still really yummy. Wasn't oily at all! Overall had a very enjoyable meal. Music was all K-pop but not too loud. Service was pretty fast. Had to wait about 10 min to get seated because it was very busy, which is a good sign! (There was a never ending flow of people coming in which just goes to show how popular the place is. Lots of Koreans too, so must be authentic.) Anyways we decided what to get during this wait so we could order as soon as we were seated. Then the apps came and not long after, all our orders. Highly recommend sharing everything as the portions just show that everything is meant to be shared.

Yelp
Holy crap. I don't usually write reviews until I've been a few times. But I was so blown away by this place, that I can unequivocally give this place 5 stars without further exploration. First off, I live in Santa Rosa where there is approximately one Korean restaurant, and I'm kinda mad at them. (And the food is kinda just okay.) And so when we were coming for a show in Oakland, I knew I wanted to get some awesome Korean. I found this place and I was worried that it would be packed. We got there at 6 PM on a Friday night and the Universe helped us by awarding us a spot in the tiny parking lot where this restaurant sits. And we were seated right away. Every single dish they put down was mindblowing. First, it was the Rose Creamy Rice Cake . It was unexpectedly sweet and the rice cake was soft and yet 'boingy', exactly how you want your rice cake. It was so creamy - I mean, they must really put a lot of cream in this. And I don't want to know how much cream, or I may not order it anymore. Let's just say ignorance is bliss on this one, folks! Next, the Sot Bob. DUDE. What the hell did they do to this thing to taste like this?! We got the pork belly... and I don't know if it's from the pork belly fat or the yolk stirred up with the scortched rice. But it was so incredibly mindblowingly good. It was a total umami bomb and the pork belly was really good too. Just everything about it.... I would drive to Oakland just to eat this alone. Then came the fried chicken. We got the spicy one, and it was exactly what one would expect really good Korean Fried Chicken to be. Super crunchy, spicy gochuchangy sauce coated around it perfectly. Ours came with a combo of dark meet and boneless white meat. Which next time, I'd probably ask for all dark meat. But the white meat was still pretty incredible, and we ate the crap out of it all. This place is absolutely incredible. And now I will make any excuse I can to come back here. Definitely an amazing meal all around. I know there are a lot of choices over here for Korean food. But this place is incredible -- don't sleep on it!

Yelp
I've been to Moo Bong Ri so many times throughout college and it's always a hit even going post-grad! Typically, my go to item is the galbijjim to share with friends. Great portion and the meat is very tender! This time, I opted for the cabbage beef short rib soup, which replaced the glass noodles with cabbage. The soup was so flavorful and warming, and they give two large pieces of short ribs! You do have to gnaw around parts of the bone, but it was tender enough where it wasn't a challenge :D always a pleasure to go here with friends. Lots of seating inside, but parking can be a challenge

Yelp
No regrets about trying this place out! It reminded me so much of one of the restaurants I visited in Seoul, the vibe was amazing. The servers were very welcoming and friendly. We ordered the sausage soup combo and added $1 to make it spicy. We were debating whether to get the Bo Ssam, but I'm glad we tried the sausage dish first. It was so good. Condiments like fish paste, gochujang, spicy salt and pepper, and the basic salt and pepper were all readily available on the table as soon as we sat down. Even the utensils were tucked away in a small drawer under the table, something I've only seen in Korea. The banchans were super fresh too! We also ordered half of the Soy Garlic chicken and a full order of the Yangnyum chicken to-go for some friends who were drinking at home. They all loved it! They said it was perfectly crunchy and juicy. Definitely planning to come back to try the Bo Ssam next. The prices were very reasonable for the quality, and the flavors were so authentic. Giving 4 stars for now, but I'll update this after our next visit--which is happening soon!

Yelp
Causal Korean restaurant with stand out dishes like the galbijim and bossam. Huge portions and delicious food. Great banchan too! Be prepared for a wait! Gets busy at dinner time.

Yelp
I've been to MBR a handful of times and every single time, I want to come back to try their other dishes! At lunch, parking is not an issue. The lot is pretty small and there are other dining establishments, so when we came once for dinner, we actually had to park down the street in the residential area. Not horrible, but just be mindful. As for the food, the banchans vary based on what you order. I highly recommend the pork belly wraps (bossam), it's perfect for 4+ people. With only 4, we couldn't finish it and brought it home. The rose creamy rice cake dish reminds me of carbonara but Asian! It was delightfully sweet but creamy. The beef short rib soup with glass noodles were so fresh and tasted like comfort food. We've also ordered their spicy braised beef short ribs and it was a massive portion. For the price, it's a steal compared to Daeho. Their fried chicken cutlet was also amazing. There were two layers of meat and their salads complemented the fried meat. Lastly, their fried chicken is a must order. The chicken pieces were huge and the meat was perfectly proportioned to the batter. Overall, this is the place to get Korean food! Super laid-back, a little loud, but seating is perfectly for large groups or smaller with benches and tables and chairs.

Yelp
I'm visiting the bay and my gf took me to this restaurant. We were staying in Daly City, so I am so confused why we are going so far for dinner and we gotta wait about 30-45 mins to get seated too. It's nice they have two benches outside and one inside for us to wait in. I was super hungry by the time we ordered food but after I tasted it. I know why, it is freaking delicious. The portion is great for sharing too. So we gotta a spicy beef bone soup and half a chicken. It hit the spot. Super flavorful and everything was cooked perfectly. We even have leftover for me to eat the next day. It's fire! The parking lot is a bit small though so going at a less busy time and day would be best or find street parking. Follow me for more foodie spots! Yelp or @eatwithjennime

Yelp
We got their fried chicken since that was the main dish I enjoyed the last time we had it. The chicken was very crispy and flavorful. The meat was quite tender and overall had a much better taste than the first visit~

Yelp
Apparently the history of this restaurant is that it was established by an apprentice who worked at the head store in Seoul, Korea and they came to the Bay in 2017. It's definitely very traditional and the flavors are amazing. Personally I have yet to try a creamy rose sauce better than Anju House here in LA so the rice cakes were not my fave buuut the soy garlic chicken was so amazing. The skin was crispy and so flavorful. Soy garlic is my absolute fave flavor of Korean Fried Chicken and loved that they offered it boneless and in different portion sizes. I would come back for the chicken but the katsu and rose sauce were average tasting in my opinion.

K C.

Yelp
The food was excellent! Never disappointed! My favorite is their spicy tofu stew and the fried chicken . The service was fast and the waitress was just always so nice. It was a little more busy but thing it was because we were their later. But still the teas just really fast. It is clean and even more impressive. Super clean and didn't even smell like ammonia.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday night at 8pm for dinner and was seated right away. We were here for lunch a couple months ago and food was great. Food still solid and enjoyed everything. We got the rice cake and dumpling soup, yangnum chicken, tater tots, and kimchee fried dumplings.

Yelp
Good Korean food with changing innovative menu and cozy seating in small setting. Derive is quick and attentive. Line is long but no reservation. We ordered ox tail soup, Seolleongtang, need to add salt for taste, but the beef bone taste is really heavy. Mool Naeng Myeon cold buckwheat noodle topped radish, cucumber & boiled egg served in cold beef broth is sweet and clean the palate. Casserole is fulfilling. Parking is tight, had to park one block down the street. Will come back to try other items in the menu.

Yelp
This place is amazing and worth going to. Service was great and food was even better. I tried the spicy braised beef short rib, beef short rib soup, and creamy rose spicy rice cake. - Spicy braised short rib was flavorful and had a kick but that spicy. Portion is huge. - Beef short rib soup was light. It was a great balance with the other two dishes heavy in their sauce. - Creamy rose spicy rice cake was good. Had a sweet taste to it. Rice cake was chewy. Also has fish cakes and sausages inside. Small parking lot outside the restaurant.

Yelp
Super solid spot for Korean short ribs! The rose tteobokki was also super saucy and flavorful. Daeho is still superior in my opinion although Moo Bong is up there too. Moo Bong keeps the short ribs in bigger chunks on the bone with also makes it a tiny bit chewier than the tender slides you find at Daeho. We came by on a Sunday evening around 8pm and waited for about 1 hour before getting seated. Shortly after the service was prompt and efficient. Ambiance is no frills and to the point, pretty spacious with good amount of large tables given the big dishes on the menu. Definitely would come back! Would love to try the chicken wings next time.

Yelp
Was craving some Korean food for lunch and was in the neighborhood. Not sure why I've never been here even though I've been to almost every other Korean place in the area. Got the fried soondae appetizer with the rice cake and dumpling soup. Portions are large. Both were pretty good. The menu isn't your typical Korean place, but I liked it because there are things you usually can't get elsewhere, like the soondae.

Yelp
Most of the dishes I've had here with friends have been heads, especially the carbonara pasta. My friends have gone as far as to bring their families to try it as well. Depending on who makes it though, it can be very spicy or more on the mild side. From what I can tell though a majority of their dishes are pretty solid, the picture below was a one off I suppose, but still adding it to my review. Unfortunately, no other pictures since someone decided to steal my phone in Japan (ooouf...)

Yelp
moo bong ri is one of my favorite Korean places in the bay!! it's tucked in a small plaza so you'll need to find street parking. service is nice and friendly and there's limited seats in the restaurant. love the selection of banchan here especially the radish kimchi. the rose udon is so good and definitely a treat. so good you'll probably want to order two for the table! the bossam wasn't one of my favs but I appreciated how well cooked and tender the pork belly was. the cold noodles was amazing and probably my favorite part of dinner. super refreshing!

Yelp
Came to Moo Bong Ri on a Tuesday night with my parents after reading rave reviews about them. We found parking in their lot and were seated immediately. The restaurant is spacious, and it's fun they have Kpop videos and music playing. For 3 people we paid about 64$ before tip to split their bo ssam (pork belly napa cabbage wraps) and soy garlic chicken wings. The bo ssam is definitely worth it! And the wings were so crispy and flavorful. Loved their banchan. And we took home leftovers. Service was friendly and quick. We'll definitely come back again - can't wait to try more dishes.

Yelp
Good food and service. Place is nice. The soup is not as good as Sun Nong Dan in Southern California Workers are friendly. Takeout packaging is great, very secure, liquids are sealed

Yelp
Galbi Jim was delicious and we also ordered the wings and tater tots, our friends usual order. Everything came out hot and fresh and service was attentive. Situated in a corner of a small strip mall parking may be tough to find but is usually best along the street behind.

Yelp
Pro tip: don't wear a white shirt if you're going to order the spicy braised beef short rib--this sauce stains! Some cuts of meat were a little funky and difficult to chew, and the meat could have been more tender, but everything else was done very well. They use lots of cabbage and winter melon in their kalbijjim instead of the usual potatoes and carrots. Definitely add on the glass noodles since those and the rice cakes soak up all the flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by the traditional blood sausage soup, which was a light, milky broth that perfectly contrasted the rich flavor of the kalbijjim. The soup dish actually came with a decent amount of meat, but next time I'll just get the platter of blood sausage. Blood sausage is filled with glass noodles and delicious--don't be intimidated by the name. The banchan is limited but high quality. Service is extremely quick, and the interior is nice and cozy. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the Oakland area and craving Korean comfort food.

Yelp
The galbijjim wasn't as good as daeho a lot of the pieces tasted too chewy /: the price for the spicy braised beef was about $90 for a large I think I'd rather go to daeho for that price. However the noodles and rose rice cake were really good.

Yelp
I'm a little older, so I came crazy early (hey, mad hungry) - like 6:15ish, the up side was I got a booth on the side! As time went by, the crowd started to flow outside. As the evening and my meal progressed, the place filled up, energy hopped up nicely, I could see how it might get pretty frenetic in there. The menu is kind of just big enough especially w/ a nice selection of share dishes/meals to not be too overwhelming. Now the food... huge delicious servings of kimchi & daikon to get you going during the short wait for your meal. Had the beef bulgogi soup w/ glass noodles & veggies. There were these otherworldly diagonal slices of a rice noodles/mochi like thumb diameter sized nuggets in the soup I have no words for. I can go on and on, but I won't. I need to go at 9:00 on a Thursday to grant a 5th star... STAY TUNED

Yelp
We loved the food here. We ordered the beef pot (+$5 for everything) and half soy garlic chicken. Both were worth getting. Minus one star for some misses in service. We were seated at the table near entrance. Later when we asked for high chair for our baby we were told we couldn't because our table was at the main passage (like, how should we know?). It's a bit surprising we weren't asked whether we needed a high chair when we came in, that should be pretty standard practice. Anyhow, if we are around this area we would still consider revisiting. The price is a tiny bit steep compared to the Korean food we are used to in Jersey.

Yelp
This is where I go when I miss my mom's home cooking or I'm feeling run down and need something nourishing. The soups are perfection. The pure white milky pork broth and the crystal clear but intensely flavorful beef broth is a visible sign of how much effort they put into making high quality clean broths that simmer for hours. Random discovery: I find most restaurants take lots of shortcuts with naengmyun (it can be very basic) so I don't usually order it. But all of theirs are really nicely done, balanced flavors and they use the good veggies.. i might even say better than my mom's and aunties!

Yelp
The food here is really good! We all loved the naengmyeon, which was a perfect balance of savory, sour, etc with chewy noodles. The creamy tteokbeokki was great as well. I've never seen this style of long thin rice cake before, but it was good with the creamy sauce. The soup in the pork rib soup was also very savory and enjoyable with the rice and kimchi. Service was good. The waiter was able to point us out to allergy concerns and give helpful recommendations. The food arrived very fast as well. We waited a bit after arriving but the wait-list was smooth. The parking lot is a bit limited but spots freed up as it got later. The tables and seats were comfy, easily fitting a party of 6. Would totally come again with a large or small group

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious here. Just be cautious as the servings are def family style. It was just my friend and I, so we didn't finish our food entirely. However our server was kind enough to package our food in very well sealed containers. The kimchi fried rice with cheese was absolutely phenomenal!! 10/10. The only downside I would say would be the limited amount of banchan you get, I thought we would get more choices than 3. I wasn't a huge fan of the kimchi but did love the pickled radish. The fried chicken portions are huge we got the small 7 piece soy flavor and it was good. Very crispy and flavorful. The parking was def terrible. There's only one entrance and exit and it's very compacted so be prepared.

Yelp
Overall this was pretty good! The seollang tang was flavorful and had lots of meat! The bossam also had various cuts which was nice. Service is quick and we had so much leftover for a second meal!

Yelp
I come here with my brother whenever we're feelin cold Korean noodles. My go to is the acorn noodle dish + can't pass up on the fried chicken (usually get the yangyum..sticky, crispy, spicy goodness). Never disappoints! Also..the workers (all of them, not just a subset) seem to always be enjoying themselves and getting along with each other, which I so appreciate. Service has always been kind. Also if you have soup leftovers, they'll seal it up for you in a vacuum seal thing (like the thing that seals boba drinks) so it doesn't spill!! If you come with a group, don't miss out on the casseroles/stews. I'm sure it won't be long before I'm back :))

Yelp
My fave Korean restaurant I dare say? We found this gem in Oakland a while ago and continue to go whenever we get the chance. We're big fans of honestly everything on their menu. I've tried a large portion of the menu and my favorite dishes are their bibim naengmyun and their rose ddeokbokki. There is almost always a wait on Friday and Saturday. We usually go in a group of 4 but they can seat up to a party of 6 comfortably. The parking is maybe the worst thing about this restaurant. There are probably 15 spots in the parking lot (which they share with a couple other restaurants), and street parking. The parking lot is almost always full and street parking is hard to come by. I'd recommend dropping off someone from your party to put your name down and then scoping out a parking spot.

Yelp
If you don't want to be spit on, stay away !!! The guy at the front desk came to my table and started spraying!!! After I asked him to pull his mask up, he did not even apologize. Didn't even bother to cover his mouth afterwards Food: seollantang has lots of meat. Just disappointing broth. Fried chicken was ok, too much breading and quite salty. Service: terrible, horrible and all the bad in between
