The 24 Best Restaurants in Ottawa, Ontario, and Gatineau, Quebec | Eater

"Though the shop specializes in dairy-based ice cream, Moo Shu on Bank Street has gained a following in Ottawa for its tasty and extravagant vegan options too, as well as its commitment to using farm-fresh ingredients. There’s toasted oak and black olive ganache for the dairy eaters, and for dairy-averse customers, lychee-rose and raspberry swirl. Bubble waffle cones come out on weekends, and savory snacks are available, including frozen vegan dumplings and everything bagel hot dogs." - Joel Balsam

Tasty flavours! Not as rich, creamy and sweet like some other ice cream places. I think some newcomers too Moo Shu could be taken aback by that. My favourites are the Calico Chocolate, Blueberry Amaretto and Lime Leaf. The HK milk tea, Dalgona and Local Strawberry are you there on the list. I've tried a lot of the flavours over the years and would only ever not get a scoop of the French Onion. That one was a little crazy for me. Way more oniony than expected. Bubble waffles are worth a try. I also like their holiday scoops when they make little reindeer. Service is consistently just okay for me. Nothing special and nothing bad. Lukewarm might be the best way to describe it?

Google
What a boring place and location! This place has no outside signs or add (except one little signs on the side of the building), the inside colors are worst than a hospital and the menu display on wall without pictures. Seriously if your depress you will be even worst after a visit there! But at the end it's looks like kids was happy with their ice cream choice. Guys you have to do something for the first impression, I will never go back there.

Google
Vietnamese coffee & brownie ice cream sandwich - brownie texture had a nice chew and fudge flavor & the coffee ice cream wasn’t too strong and still flavorful. Generous size (you could probably share this with someone) Delicious! This was close to $10 CAD - pretty average ice cream price and worth it IMO.

Stella Chen

Google
Their Hong Kong Milk Tea flavour is the GOAT. Their Vietnamese coffee flavour is also top tier. Tried their durian ice cream sandwich and it had a pretty strong flavour. Their limited-time flavour Hinamatsuri had mugwort, tofu, and strawberry all mixed in one. It was a bit overpowered by strawberry. The best part is the tofu flavour. They really should do a permanent flavour.

Ali Mahrar

Google
The Vietnamese coffee ice cream jar and ice cream sandwich were absolutely incredible. The originality of the flavors is unmatched — I’ve never seen anything like it in terms of both quality and creativity. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. The restaurant’s high rating is well deserved. Definitely a must-visit spot to add to your list in Ottawa!

Google
my first time trying ice cream from this spot and the calico chocolate was very tasty and flavourful! it isn’t as rich or creamy as ice cream from some other spots but the waffle cone was delicious. would definitely come back to try some of their more unique flavour offerings.

Tina Cai

Google
The flavours are honestly so impressive and I couldn't tell which ones were vegan if not in the name. The vegan black sesame flavour is soo thick and creamy in the best way. The environment makes the ice cream taste 10x better as well. Exquisite! Would come to Wellington again just for this 💫 The strawberry matcha latte was exceptional as well, just a little small.

Jessica Batitis

Google
Everything here is delicious! Here’s how to maximize your trip to Moo Shu: start off strong with a latte and shaobing wrap. For dessert, grab a double scoop on a waffle cone (flavours of your choice, but don’t neglect the vegan options!), then finish with a strawberry matcha latte to go. Don’t forget to grab an ice cream sandwich or a pint or two for home! As far as atmosphere, it’s a beautifully thought out space. Managing the noise seems to be their biggest challenge. Their ticketing system is a great idea, but there’s nothing to really absorb the noise, so the staff often have to call out ticket numbers loudly and repeatedly which can kill the vibe a bit. I love that I can get asian skincare here as well, it’s super convenient.

Yelp
Yummy!! Always fun to go and try the new flavours. The new location is spacious (I would say at least 5-10 tables for seating) with warm lighting (and strong air conditioning!). There's also a small public square with some benches outside that will absolutely be useful for busy summer nights. My recommendation is to grab an ice cream sandwich bar from one of the freezers where you line up to order - great textures, fresh flavours, and lots of fun. Easy to split with a loved one! Prices are a bit high, but Moo Shu sources local ingredients (with the names of local farms on the flavour signs!), and pays employees a livable wage. It's a great place to stop by and support, while trying a delicious new flavour. Their new location is absolutely a step up :)

Yelp
It really pains me to write a partially negative review of a really cool place like Moo Shu Ice Cream & Kitchen, but if a flavor is inedible, that's a pretty big deal. I showed up around 9:00 on a random Tuesday and the place was impressively packed. The line was snaking out the door but it moved quickly. I've always been a huge fan of French Onion Soup, so when I saw a flavor called French Onion Scoop, I obviously had to get it. It's not good. The quality of the ice cream itself is top-notch (i.e. it's super creamy) but the flavor is just kind of gross. Plus there's a lot of sautéed onion in there and I think there's a reason onion and ice cream have never been combined before. I ate some of my cup but wound up throwing most of it away. To paraphrase Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park, Moo Shu was so preoccupied with whether or not they could make a French Onion Soup inspired ice cream flavor, they didn't stop to think if they should. (I should note I also tried a couple bites of their DunkaMoo's ice cream sandwich and it was really delicious, so obviously they are capable of making an excellent product.)

Yelp
I'd love to come back another day and try the other flavors! This ice cream was yummier than I was expecting and a great texture! I love the idea of a HK ice cream shop (as a HK American). The kaffir lime leaf & mint ice cream was SO refreshing and had the perfect amount of flavor from each. The local strawberry was also perfectly tart and not too sweet. It was the PERFECT combo on a nice day! Love this ice cream place and maybe I'll be back in Ottawa one day to try more flavors!

Yelp
I feel like this place is 5 star cuz it is ethnic and exotic for ottawa centretown ppl but I dont like ice cream having no samples or display when I go to one. I hope their new location can have space for larger snack area, and hot cream in winter since it is now a thing. I like their dessert not sweet and since I havent found one bbt place in town works for hk milk tea (or milk tea in general), I would get by eating the ice cream version if it here for now.

Yelp
Stopped in on a nice quiet Sunday to grab some treats. Got the calico ice cream for the kid (milk, dark, and white chocolate) and coffee brownie ice cream sandwich. Wow, that coffee brownie ice cream sandwich was AMAZING! The brownie was so decadent, chocolatey and chewy. The calico ice cream was enjoyed by the kid. I thought it was just OK. They have some neat and unique flavours. Not much seating (a cute bench out front), so be prepared to take and go. We ended up walking to the nature museum and sat in the park there. I love supporting local, especially shops that are friendly and welcoming. Not only that, they pay their staff a living wage, and have a scoop donation program where you can pay it forward and claim/ buy a scoop for someone, no questions asked.

Yelp
Worth the wait! I never take a photo fast enough because I just eat my ice cream right away! This is the best place in Ottawa for ice cream. Willing to walk hours just for one scoop. Freshly made cones, seasonal flavours and fast and kind service. Never fails to put a smile on my face. The only way it can get better is if they play some light happy music outside while I dance with my favourite flavours.

Callum H.

Yelp
How do I start? Portions are small, prices are sky-high, lines are long, and flavour is mid at best. If you're looking for a fad, then go here I guess. If you want quality ice cream or even just good ice cream at a reasonable price, do NOT go here. Look elsewhere (but not at Merry Dairy).

Yelp
It was a bit pricy but absolutely worth it They have many exotic authentic flavors Make their own waffle cones Will definitely visit again

Yelp
Moo Shu has quickly become a fav ice cream spot of mine for their unique and Asian-inspired flavours. I really appreciate their creativity in the kitchen plus their Fortune Cat signage is super cute. I've tried the following flavours of ice cream so far and they have all been yummy: Basil Haskap Berry, Hawaiian Vanilla, White Rabbit and Heirloom Carrot Cake. I've also tried their waffle cone and their bubble waffle cone, both which I enjoyed. The Basil Haskap Berry scoop was neat to try as it was my first time eating Haskap Berry in addition to eating Basil in something sweet instead of savoury. It was refreshing on a warm summer evening! The White Rabbit scoop was also particularly delicious as part of their Easter special. White Rabbit is an iconic creamy milk candy made in China that works very well in the Moo Shu ice cream form. You need to check out this local spot for their scoops! They also make dumplings, dipped bars and pies, which I haven't tried yet, but I hope to one day!

Yelp
I am obsessed with this ice cream shop. My SIL is a local here so whenever I'm in town visiting I always come here - she introduced me to this place and I've been hooked ever since! They have such interesting selection of ice cream flavours. hK milk tea is a solid one they always have, but I always love trying the new and limited flavours they carry. This summer I got to try their peach brulee - it is the bomb. Custard-y and full of egg yolk richnesss paired with chunks of peaches. Their blackcurrant and cream cheese is also spectacular- it wasn't available as a scoop so I just got it to go. Sooo soo good. If you're ever in ottawa you NEED to try this place out - you will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Cindy M.

Yelp
Not your average ice cream! Come here if you like premium ice cream that offers unique, intentional flavors. I got the strawberry pocky and HK milk tea. These were so flavorful, and after one lick of the strawberry pocky I was transported back to my childhood.
google avatar

Jasmine L.

Yelp
When we came during January 2022, they still only sold pints rather than scoops (due to Covid). The flavour selection was unique and we ended up choosing the 'cowherd & weaver girl', which is a caramel chocolate marbled with milk bread. It was WILD how accurate they captured a milk-bready taste in ice cream form. Their ice cream texture is a bit more icy than I liked, but still glad we tried it!

Yelp
Update Review on #ThanksYouThursday Guys, these people, who work here in Moo Shu, they are just great. I have been having immune issues, so could not really go out except groceries, so they offered to deliver ice cream and sourdough bread to my place. I think in those tough time a pint of the best Ice Cream Place in Ottawa, a pint of mouthwatering Matcha Ice Cream will definitely make you happier. Thanks to the owners, I believe that one day I will meet you guys in person to say thank you for your hard work, outstanding quality and excellence of craftsmanship. P.S. This review is not a paid promo. Also, please bring back Hinamatsuri! One of the top flavors I am craving since winter times. I have actually never seen that kind of blend, but it is one of the best I have ever tried in my life. Stay Safe Everyone!

Yelp
These ice cream sandwiches are NOT messing around! We love Moo Shu because you can order ahead online and pick up super fast. We got the compost cookie with malted milk, ear grey with brown sugar cake and Vietnamese coffee with brownie. They were all super unique and tasty!

Yelp
This was high on my list of things to try when I got to Ottawa. And needless to say, I've been 3 times in the past month already. Depending what time you go, there may be a line up, but it's well worth the wait. Saturday night the line took about 30 minutes. Sunday afternoon about 10 minutes. Thursday evening no wait. I'd recommend trying as many flavours as possible, so that you're satisfied with what you order. I'd say Hong Kong milk tea is the best flavour they have. But other ones that stood out were Grandma's house, fruit loop cereal milk, blueberry chocolate, London fog, and jade. Some of their other flavours are too subtle. I found their gluten free cone interesting but not something I'd get again - good for the gram, oily in the stomach. They also have truffles and ice cream sandwiches in their freezer. If you want to take a pint home, you can always ask for a sample of those flavours, as they may have them in the back for you to try! Parking on the street is available within a few minutes walk. Note that they don't have washrooms here. It doesn't compare to the ice cream in Vancouver, but it will be my go-to dessert stop in Ottawa!

Yelp
I heard great things about this ice cream place so I was super excited to try it out when I was in Ottawa. When we got there, the store was super cosy and cute. They had an array of interesting flavours like Tang Zhong Milk Bread, Hong Kong Milk Tea and blueberry Jam and Pepper. In the end, we opted for the Tang Zhong Milk Bread and the Hong Kong Milk tea ice cream flavours for $6. I loooved the milk bread flavour. It really reminded me of the white rabbit candy, but better! The milk tea flavour was also very rich and had strong red tea flavours. The ice cream was very smooth and you can tell they used quality ingredients for their amazing ice cream. You can also buy pints of their ice cream, and their truffles - which are like mochi filled with ice cream.

Yelp
Good ice cream. I was in the area and from a recommendation decided to come here. Service only took place at their front entrance, so I was unfortunately unable to view the interior. We had to stand in the cold open (it was winter) but their friendly service warmed me up. I got a pint of matcha since I like the flavour but never had it in ice cream form. As it turns out, it is a good idea. Thank god for samples, otherwise I think I would've made a wrong decision. I will be coming back with friends.

Yelp
I loved this place!! This ice cream shop is super cute and trendy and the flavours are really interesting. We got there at around 3pm which is when they open on Mondays' and there was already a huge lineup. Once we finally got to the front, the girls working there were patient, despite the lineup and offered to let us sample a couple of flavours before deciding. We tried the Hong Kong milk tea and the calico chocolate and the blueberry amaretto. All the flavours were amazing. Being a big fan of HK milk tea, I absolutely loved this as an ice cream flavour. They got the flavour down perfectly and the texture was wonderful. It looks like they have some interesting Asian influences in their flavours like Vietnamese coffee and some Japanese cherry blossom type flavour which is nice to see! They also seem to emphasize their fruit flavours and the fact that they get their fruit from local farms which is amazing! They have a few different sizes for any type of ice cream craving. The most popular being the 2-scoop which will let you try 2 flavours for $5.00. I think this is good deal! Most ice cream places will run you about the same or even more for two scoops. Their homemade waffle cones are an extra dollar or so and they also do the egg waffles in different flavours if that suits you. I was pretty happy with 2 scoops in a cute cup. The shop is adorable, they have a cute cat as their 'mascot' I guess I'd call it. It's very instagrammable/social media friendly. Lots of opportunities for foodie pics and selfies. The service was great, the ladies were super patient and nice, despite the crazy line-ups right at opening. If I lived in Ottawa, this would be a regular ice cream spot for me! I hope they continue to create innovative flavours and keep up the great service! Next time i'm in Ottawa, i'll be sure to make a stop in!
google avatar

Wendy L.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. I have had a bunch of their different season or special ice creams and I've never been let down. They let you taste the ice crema beforehand (so you don't spend $5 on an ice cream you don't like) and all the staff are very friendly. The store is fairly small, but it is cozy and has some really cute decorations. My recommendation for their ice cream would probably be the hong kong milk tea. I love asian inspired ice creams!
google avatar

Shawn F.

Yelp
What a fantastic place for ice cream! All their flavours are made in house and very from traditional to creative. Went on a Saturday midday and had no problem getting a scoop without wait. The shop is small so i'd imagine at busy hours it might be a bit of a wait. Tried the Campfire Banana Boat & Brûléed Peach! These are seasonal flavours so the might not be around come winter time, but they were fantastic and delicious. My favourite was the Peach as you could actually taste chunks of the fruit in the scoop. The Waffle cone is also a must try, made with flax and special flour it is a snack in its own right. Total came to 7$ so a little pricy but worth every penny. I plan to return the next time I'm in town!
google avatar

Jocelyn K.

Yelp
They have such creative ice cream flavors here that change frequently. We came for the Hong Kong milk tea, and it did not disappoint. The milk tea flavor was strong. I wouldn't have minded if it was even stronger. You can get two flavors, so I also got the chocolate with honey cake. I loved the texture of the cake. I wish they didn't retire this flavor. Although, I don't live anywhere near the area, so I guess it doesn't matter anyways. I also got a chance to try their kale lemon curd and vegan date flavors. The kale lemon curd was very refreshing, and thankfully tasted more like lemon curd than kale. The vegan date had a strange texture. If I lived in the area, I would frequent this place often and it would no doubt be my favorite ice cream place.
google avatar

Yelp
I was so excited to try Moo Shu Ice Cream and truth be told I found it just ok. I had the Hong Kong Milk Tea and the Matcha Green Tea ("small" 1 scoop of each flavour for $5). Both were really mild in flavour and not all that milky. The green tea one at least tasted like green tea. If I didn't know what I had ordered, I wouldn't have been able to tell you what the Hong Kong Milk Tea one was. It didn't taste like Hong Kong Milk tea to me. My husband had the Strawberry and the Vegan Chocolate (he also got the small for $5). I had a taste of the strawberry and it was pretty good. It had a strawberry taste and was creamy. The Vegan Chocolate was chocolatey but a tad on the bitter side. Staff were nice enough. The place is super small and there are no washrooms for customers (there was a sign blocking off the hallway that read "employees only."). They do have free serve-yourself ice water, which I thought was nice. Yeah, I tried it to see what the hype was all about. If someone wanted to buy me some ice cream at Moo Shu, I certainly wouldn't turn it down, but I don't think I would go back and buy some ice cream for myself.
google avatar

Cherushi P.

Yelp
If you want to try some of the best ice cream in Ottawa that also treats their employees like gold? Look no further !!! I live in the neighbourhood and this place is an absolute must-visit every other day in the summer. Pricey ice cream but SO worth it!! They usually do some funky East Asian flavours that are to die for, though I usually default to Black Sesame or their amazing Strawberry ice cream. can't wait to visit this place again on a warm summer
google avatar

Audrey T.

Yelp
This is probably one of my favorite ice cream spots in Ottawa. Although it's a little small, it serves up some very unique and eccentric flavors. On Wednesday's, their bubble waffles sell out the door so get there early! I love checking out their Instagram to see what waffle flavor is on special, as well as all the special ice cream flavors they have. I particularly like their asian flavors and local fruit flavors. The taste is very rich and authentic. Sometimes I get the chocolate dip if I feel like having a special treat!
google avatar

Kristie W.

Yelp
Cool flavours! First time having milk tea flavoured ice cream and it was delicious. Two worlds collided in a wondrous way. They also have other neat flavours like milk bread, classic flavours like black sesame, and several yummy vegan options.
google avatar

Clara Y.

Yelp
Amazing ice cream in Ottawa! Love the Asian inspiration of flavours and the variety to choose from. It does change from time to time, but staples like HK milk tea are always there. Be prepared for a wait when the weathers nice but this is a MUST GO TO ice cream spot in Ottawa.
google avatar

Alexia B.

Yelp
The most creamy vegan ice cream I've ever had! If you need a sweet, or savory, fix Moo Shu has loads of unique ice cream flavors! The cones are made fresh all throughout the day. The line was a little long but for good reason. The staff worked efficiently and the line moved quite quickly. Bank street has a lot of other interesting shops so it's worth a look. I can't wait to go back and try more flavors!

Kelly M.

Yelp
Very very good vegan ice cream. I got the dalgona and coffee flavour and i would highly recommend it. Very friendly staff I will definitely be coming back
google avatar

Dawn M.

Yelp
Found Moo Shu at a Micro Brewery event in Beechwood. Love the ice cream. I had 2x Malt and Pretzel, made with Black IPA. It was wonderful! I'll be checking out their shop! Would I recommend: Yes Would I return: Yes
google avatar

Tricia L.

Yelp
The best ice cream in town! Also just a great and socially responsible business, which must be why they always give good customer service.
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
Love the innovative and different selection of flavours! I tired the black sesame and the Hong Kong style milk tea ice cream. The black sesame could have been stronger in flavour but the milk tea was fantastic! The server said the ice cream is denser because it is a Philadelphia style so no egg yolk in it. I liked the denser texture! The store on Bank street ensures one has access to it without having to chase them down at markets. It is simply and nicely decorated too.
google avatar

Colin C.

Yelp
They don't compost. Nice ice cream though. Come here often. Compost the waste myself at home.
google avatar

Edward W.

Yelp
My aunt recently took me to this ice cream shop. When we got there, they said they were closed. However, the owner was really nice and let us be the last customers for the night. It was really nice of her. I ordered the hong kong milk tea flavored ice cream on a waffle cone. It was the bomb! The ice cream was not too sweet and it was very tasty, just like a hong kong style milk tea. The cone was fresh, warm and crispy. One of the best ice creams I've ever had! I tried a taste of the lime leaf and fresh mint flavored ice cream and it was very refreshing. Definitely recommend this place!
google avatar

Cha M.

Yelp
Wondering all theses five stars rating after tasting.. it's like half water+ half sugar.. The price is highly than what I expected... Was coming to try the homemade ice cream but discover that the employee does not care about the food hygiene. How can you no wear hat or gloves when preparing this kind of food?
google avatar

Madi R.

Yelp
Best vegan ice cream I've ever had, super tasty and reasonably priced. We stopped by right before they opened and avoided the line that seems to frequently form outside. We'll be back

Alison M.

Yelp
Never had a bad flavour. The vegan and cream versions of their ice cream are the bomb, and don't sleep on the waffle cone. Recently starting getting their dumplings and really enjoy them, too. Recommend the mushroom and cumin ones!
google avatar

Wendy M.

Yelp
Best Asian ice cream you will find in Ottawa! (and this is important coming from a Chinese girl from Vancouver -- I know my Asian food very well! :P) It's not as creamy/ rich as Kekou in Toronto but nonetheless very good. I've tried a bunch of flavours (seasonal and regular), but found them all just okay EXCEPT for the HK milk tea ice cream, which keeps me coming back again and again! Recently with the warmer weather, there has always been a long line out the doors whenever I drive by in the evening. I passed by at 9:30pm last night and there must have been 20 people crowding outside the store! There is not much room inside the store to sit down and eat so a lot of people stand and eat outside.

Vivian N.

Yelp
I can't even fully explain how much I love Moo Shu. It is the hallmark treat of many of my summer weekends. The rotating flavours, bubble waffles, waffle cones, and nostalgic Asian quality of the flavours are entirely unique and amazingly done. Vegan flavours are essentially indistinguishable from regular milk based flavours.
google avatar

Gladys C.

Yelp
I am obsessed with this place. I moved nearby recently and I may or may not have been here at least 5 times already! This reminds me so much of Kekou gelato in Toronto. They make their own flavours from scratch. My favourites are the HK milk tea and london fog. I also tried the elderberry flower and strawberry basil? I don't remember the exact flavour for those ones but they seem to rotate and change up some of their flavours which is nice. Can't wait to try more!
google avatar

Cassandra G.

Yelp
What a fun place! The ice cream flavours were really original and delicious, I had one scoop of Frosty & Fries and one scoops of Vegan Chocolate. The hype for this small ice cream shop was incredible, there was a lineup down the block but waiting in line was quick and definitely worth it. The shop is very small though, not much seating inside.
google avatar

Tina T.

Yelp
I've been here a few times whenever I visit Ottawa. Service is always excellent and their ice cream superb. I love their frootloops cereal milk ice cream the most. They also have seasonal flavours that are good to try as well. Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Jaime H.

Yelp
Great vegan Ice cream! We went here after a spin class and the ear grey ice cream was amazing and tasted just as expected. My sister got the vegan ice cream and I was expecting it to be chalky or taste a little off but it was creamy and good and I pretty well took half of hers without asking.
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
Serious milk tea fan here & i can't get enough of this HK milk tea ice cream! Who knew the first time I'd try it would be in Ottawa, CAN? Seriously though.. their homemade ice cream is spot on with the flavour. I've tried: HK milk tea, black sesame, Viet coffee, lime leaf+fresh mint, local strawberry & white chocolate. All are so aromatic; not overly sweet; flavours are true to its ingredients. In particular, for the HK milk tea and Viet coffee, no deviations from the authentic tea/coffee taste, which are important to me. Prices are reasonable! However the scoops are rather small.. What I love just as much are their homemade waffle cones. They strongly remind me of Ginbis vegetable animal crackers (if you're a HK native who grew up in the 90's you'll know what I'm talking about! If not, google it!) it tastes soo good! I can eat just the cone alone. Upgrade to the cone, it's worth it! Sadly, I live in Toronto and can't visit as much as I would like. They sell $12 pints of all their flavours; would've really loved to bring one home but admitted it wouldn't survive the 4 hour drive. SO, definitely a must-visit when I return to Ottawa craving ice cream. I highly, highly recommend!
google avatar

Brenda L.

Yelp
I tried two ice cream flavors: hong kong milk tea and lime leaf (kefir leaf) and mint. I had both in a kids size (single scoop) on their gluten-free vegan cone. I loved that their cone was crunchy, thin, crispy, and almost see-thru. It was extremely unique and is like no cone I've had at other ice cream places. On Wednesdays, they do puff-waffles (eggettes) or what they call "bubble waffles" in fun flavors like earl grey. In their fridge, you can buy their ice cream by the pint in different flavors like green tea matcha, Vietnamese coffee or London Fog. I liked that you could taste the bitter tea flavors in the Hong Kong milk tea ice cream. I thought the lime leaf mint would be more POW in your face but it was fresh and delicious without being overpowering. It was also creamy and not sorbet-like as I had expected. I liked that the girl working there took time to explain their menu for us. The flavors written in green and orange (I think) are their constant flavors while the other font colors are seasonal/specials. I love ice cream shops that change up their flavors. I overheard the staff talking about a sour cherry flavor. This would easily be the top flavor in my flavor palate. The shop has indoor and no outdoor seating. The indoor seating is one tall communal table with barstools and one window high-top table with 2 barstools. A lot of their flavors are named with political references ("not my cheeto", "free healthcare") which threw me off since they aren't obvious flavors.

Yelp
I was disappointed that they don't have waffle cones and scoop ice cream in the winter, but I definitely wasn't disappointed with the ice cream. I had the ice cream sandwich of the day - they had partnered with a local craft beer place to make this special beer ice cream. It had almonds, raisins and toffee in it and then stuck between 2 oatmeal cookies. Amazing! There was so much going on in this ice cream flavour, but everything was a perfect complement to each other. Nothing was too overpowering. I was only visiting Ottawa for 2 days, but will definitely return here when I come back next.

Yelp

Yelp
Best Asian ice cream you will find in Ottawa! They do a great job at integrating famous asian flavouring into their ice cream. They make their cones fresh and they taste amazing. It's very affordable compared to the other ice-cream places in Ottawa. They let you have unlimited samples unlike the others where you only get 3 taste tests. One small thing I didn't like was that some flavours you could only get if you bought the tub like matcha, which I really wanted to try! But all in all very good ice cream for a very low price.

Yelp
TL;WR: Unique and great tasting ice cream, known for their Hong Kong Milk Tea flavour. Food is available, closed on Tuesdays. Two flavour cups are $5 and 3 flavour cups are $7. Definitely worth a try. Review: A friend and I came to this place on a Saturday afternoon hoping to kill some time before a reservation. The interior was simple and casual, and the seating was pretty limited. I usually do some research before entering a location to see what they have to offer but as this was unplanned, I asked the person behind the counter to give me some recommendations (being unable to see the chalk board menu cus I forgot my glasses might have also been a factor..). She said that the Hong Kong milk tea flavour was what they were known for and she also gave some samples from some of her favorites. Customer service here was excellent! I ended up getting the HK milk tea, peppercorn and plum and Port Wine & chocolate (My friend and I initially heard this as pork rind & chocolate, but thanks to the clarification provided after the review, the flavors I tasted makes a lot more sense). They have a 3 flavour cup for $7 and I think the ice cream was well worth the money. The HK milk tea was pretty good. It was really smooth and that tea flavour was definitely there - enough to coat your whole tongue. The peppercorn and plum had more of a texture to it and the classic peppercorn tingle was there for the after taste here and there. The most adventurous flavour - which I had to later confirm with my friend to make sure that I hadn't misheard was chocolate with pork rind (it was actually Port Wine, not pork rind). There was little to no pork flavour in this (makes a lot more sense after knowing that there wasn't any pork in there to begin with... though there wasn't a weird taste from the wine either), instead it was a really deep/rich chocolate flavour and it wasn't too sweet - which I actually liked. Probably my favourite of the three, though the other two doesn't really fall too far behind. Beware of brain freeze though! They do have a small food menu here as well, and they are closed on Tuesdays. Overall this was a great place to grab some great ice cream "made from scratch". I'll definitely be back whenever I visit Ottawa.

Yelp
I found about this place last week when I was craving matcha ice cream. Unfortunately they didn't have matcha ice cream that day (it was out of stock) so I had the "Play" which is guava flavor. I really loved it and it had those popping candies in it. Today I went there again and got the hinamatsuri flavor and it had tofu and some other things too but I don't really remember. To be honest I never thought I would love tofu ice cream so this place does know how to make ice cream
