Where to Try Thai Ice Cream in Los Angeles: Best Thai Scoop Shops | Eater LA

"Started as a pop-up and now operating at Smorgasburg every Sunday since the summer 2023 with a retail location in Torrance that opened in September 2024, this maker treats ice cream like a lab. Owner Saran “Darwin” Wai draws on formal training—“I have a background in genetics engineering and a degree in molecular biology,” Wai explains—and on Thai culinary ingredients: his riceberry horchata uses riceberry (a purple Thai rice with antioxidants invented at Kasetsart University in Bangkok) and he explains the concept succinctly: “So it’s a flavor inspired by a Mexican drink, using Thai rice, turned into an Italian gelato, and made by a Thai guy,” Wai says. He also describes his entry into the medium: “I discovered the whole world of the science of ice cream, and it’s so fun. You can manipulate every single thing in ice cream, and when you taste that first bite, it made me want to start my own ice cream brand.” Signature and experimental flavors include Thai pesto gelato made with sweet Thai basil, durian-and-mezcal, and a Thai tea flavor (one of the first he developed). Wai returns repeatedly to coconut: “Coconut is the flavor that got me started, and coconut ice cream is my favorite thing,” and he frames the craft broadly: “But ice cream is a blank canvas. Once you know how to draw it, you can draw anything.”" - Kat Thompson

Yummy homemade ice cream with many unique flavors! My favorite (so far) is the pandan! Planning to go back and try other flavors. The lady at the front is super sweet and friendly too! Would highly recommend if you’re ever in the area.

Google
The place is really awesome! We were just looking for a gelato place in the South Bay and stumbled into this place. Their gelatos are all handmade with really good and exotic flavors. The waffle cones are a must! They are made with coconut and they are gluten free. The sweet glutinous rice at the bottom of the waffle cones is divine. Although the location is a bit hard to find in the Del Amo mall, it is really worth it to look for this place and try their extremely tasty gelato!!!

Jennifer Gopar

Google
Coming here was such a lovely experience! The person working the counter was super sweet and friendly. She let us try so many flavors before finally deciding what we flavors we wanted. We ended up getting their Thai tea, pandan, and mango flavors.

Andrea Romero

Google
Do yourself a favor and go try this place!!! Found it by accidentally entering by wrong side of the mall but that’ll be my entry from now on! I had a cup of the rice berry horchata flavor! And omg! So refreshing, not excessively sweet and so good!! A huge portion too!! And the lady attending it’s so sweet!! So excited to try the other flavors, they let you taste it but I like surprises and so far not disappointed!!

I recently visited Moom Maam, and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a super friendly attendant who made me feel welcome right away. They offered me a sample of their waffle cone, and let me tell you, it was hands down the best waffle cone I've ever had – perfect taste and texture! I was also given the chance to sample a few gelato flavors, and they were all amazing. I ended up choosing the Belgian chocolate and mango flavors. The Belgian chocolate was incredible—rich, creamy, and consistently flavorful throughout the entire cup. As for the mango, it was light, fresh, and perfect for a hot day. I would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone! The Belgian chocolate flavor is a must-try—you won't regret it. I'll definitely be coming back for more!

Google
Thai artisanal ice cream with unique flavors that you don't see often. Combos are the way to go if you want to share or try multiple flavors. Big scoops for the price. Very nice lady who's great at offering samples. I love the hand made waffle that comes with the scoop too.

Google
Absolutely excellent experience. The staff member was incredibly kind and helped us try multiple flavors so we could narrow down to our favorites. I loved the range of flavors too- super fun options including a durian based one and a sesame flavor. We ended up with coconut, pandan, and strawberry balsamic. The waffle cone pieces were absolutely delicious.

Google
Tucked away inside the shopping mall, but a must try. My favorite is the thai tea flavor. The crunchy coconut topping was to die for and the surprise sticky rice was so good

May A.

Yelp
When we arrived, there was already a line and now we know why! We tried the chocolate, black sesame, and almond flavors, all were incredibly rich, smooth, and unique. The homemade waffle topping added the perfect crunch. You can tell everything is made with care and quality. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Moom Maam Artisanal Thai Gelato finally has their own shop space located inside the Del Amo Fashion Center. To get here, it is on the lower level of the mall in the corner where Book Off is. There are limited seating options at the shop so keep that in mind and plan accordingly. For their menu, they have a variety of unique Thai-inspired ice cream flavors. Wifey and I sampled a bunch of them and they were all amazing. We ended up getting the Tofu and Pandan flavors with the Waffle Cone that comes with Sticky Rice and Toasted Coconut. The ice cream was decadent, creamy, and had such unique flavor profiles! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our ice cream experience here. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. From the Thai temple market to their own shop, this spot is a testament to hard work and craftsmanship. Come stop by and show them some love!

Yelp
Yummy Thai Gelato spot located inside the Del Amo Mall! My friend and I split the special with two flavors: Thai Tea and Pandan and it was great! My favorite was the Thai Tea which was not too sweet and flavorful. The Pandan was also good, but I wish the pandan flavor was stronger. Both of the ice cream flavors had a smooth and creamy texture which I liked. I loved the crispy and crunchy coconut bowl that it was served in which was also nice and sweet and I also liked the texture. There was also sticky rice inside the bowl which was good, but it was too carby for me. Overall, a great dessert to share! For the amount we got at $14, it was a pretty good price! The service was also good and the lady serving my friend and I was friendly and kind. She allowed us to sample different flavors. There also a couple of seats/benches to sit on at the shop to enjoy your desserts. I would recommend this ice cream shop to anyone visiting the Del Amo mall to try.

Yelp
THIS GELATO SPOT HAS BECOME MY TOP ICE CREAM SHOP. literally every flavor was delicious to the point I couldn't decide. Highly recommend checking this place out because you won't regret. I tried the black sesame and it had so much flavor. Can't wait to go back to get more flavors and take my friends and family

Yelp
Gelato, but make it Thai inspired!! Such a cool twist on gelato that adds Asian inspired ingredients that calls for the perfect pairing. I got the saffron with mejool date caramel on top of their waffle with coconut sticky rice on the bottom! It was sooo soo good, we ended up trying another flavor, we got coconut and it was even more tasty. I will definitely be coming back as this is the perfect place for a sweet tooth craving.

Yelp
Unique flavors, amazing customer service, and it comes w some sticky rice?! Just come and order. You will not regret it. Owner is super sweet and cute. Let us try all the flavors! I gotta come back weekly for this fix. Saur good!

Yelp
This is rather unique and the odd sounding flavors like Tofu, you can sample and determine which you like. We tried a few and everything was pretty good. The prices for artisan ice cream was okay as the portions were decent and you can basically get a 3 scoop for about $15 and it's shareable sized for 2-3 people... although it's delicious enough for one hungry person to devour it solo. This is located at the end of the Del Amo Mall where Cold Stone Creamery once resided in the wing that has a USPS post office, Macy's, JC Penny's, Book Off and Dave & Busters, the area that Joann's and Sears once resided. It's worth checking out.

Yelp
I ran into this shop while wandering the mall. It's on the "dead side" of the mall downstairs from the army recruiting center and next to Macy's. It's where the cold stones used to be, but I guess corporate ice cream gave up the ghost. There wasn't anyone there because it was 1pm on a weekday but that didn't stop me. My mom, baby, and I sat there and enjoyed the LA times special (sticky rice, coconut wafer, mango gelato) and a scoop of Belgian chocolate. I also tried a sample of the pandan flavour. Just wow at the flavors! Everything delicious and creamy. I never would've thought to eat ice cream with sticky rice but it was a delicious combo. There are no tables but there are a few benches to sit and eat. It reminds me a lot of being on vacation for some reason.

Yelp
OVERALL : I have not been to Smorgasburg in a while, but it was such a treat coming back! The food options are tasty, and there's a wide variety of options to pick from. Truly something for everyone! Casual, but lively spot to grab a Sunday lunch. This review is for Moom Maam, a vendor we tried during our most recent visit. I saw a lot of people getting their gelato (they specialize in thai gelato), but I was on the hunt for a fun drink. Service is alright, not stand-out or particularly friendly this day. I got their Mango Sticky RIce Spritz -- this was a unique option I have not seen in other places before! Price is on the steep side ($12.95 for 24 oz) and there was a bit of a wait when I came, but it was a good treat since I don't visit often. PARKING : This is a vendor located in Smorgasburg, an outdoor market hosted at the Row DTLA every Sunday 10am - 4pm. Park at the structure located on 777 Alameda St and it's free parking for the first 2 hrs! FOOD/DRINKS : Mango Sticky Rice Spritz - mango sticky rice inspired mocktail spritz with mango gelato, coconut milk, and toasted coconut on top -- Fruity, fizzy, creamy and ice cold! It gave me creamscicle vibes but with mango sticky rice flavor instead of the usual orange you'd find in a creamscicle. Delicious and great alternative if you'd looking to try something new beyond just the usual coffee/boba/matcha!

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised to see that they opened a brick and mortar store so close to home! They are located in Del Amo Fashion Center, bottom floor, just outside of Macy's. People have written reviews for Moom Maam, but I think they're for the Smorgasburg location. However, this review page is now for the aforementioned location. I have seen them at Smorgasburg and probably tried their gelato. i love their flavors board with descriptions & pictures. Very useful information! TIP: If you're coming from the Food Court, it's quickest to walk through Macy's to use their escalators. Go down a level and walk out of Macy's ... you'll see it there on the right. When we arrived, the owner was sitting in the Shiatsu Massage Chairs located directly outside of her store. She came in immediately, greeted us, and we made small talk. Then we got to tasting samples. I was going to just sample maybe 3 or 4, but then she said to sample them all! Hubby and I shared each sample. The samples got a little larger near the end. We were also given a sample of the Gluten-free Coconut Waffle which is light, crispy, and delicious! They have a Durian flavor for a Limited Time called Durian Mezcal Drift. It costs a dollar extra. I liked the sample, not sure if I'd enjoy an entire scoop, but who knows? Hubby didn't care for it, but at least he tried it! We finally settled on getting The Special with Three Flavors because it includes that beautiful Coconut Waffle and 3 scoops of gelato. It was more than enough for us to share! Thai Tea is always a winner with hubby, so we chose that and then the Belgian Chocolate, & Almond Amaretto. This was assembled with care and looked so inviting and scrumptious! Oh, the base layer is Coconut Sticky Rice and that was lovely! There are no tables inside this small shop. You could opt to walk over to the play area outside of the JoAnn's (it's closing) entrance. We chose to head back upstairs to the Food Court and eat there. Since it took a few minutes to get there, the gelato had started to melt. We enjoyed this creation with our gelato selections! The gelato has a nice texture and is very flavorful! We will be back!

Yelp
Moom maam is delicious! Fun flavors, excellent service (endless samples), but come with an appetite! You can tell their servings are huge! We got the 2 scoop, it comes with a waffle and semi frozen sticky rice. Moom maam is on the first floor of the mall, enter through the Macy's entrance for quickest access. The prices are fair for how much they give, I just wish they gave smaller portions cause it's a lot to eat but delicious overall! Matcha had a nice deep flavor, the tofu koromitsu was just sweet enough, love!!!
google avatar

Nicole N.

Yelp
My husband I were walking around Del Amo and were intrigued when we saw "Thai Gelato". We were able to sample the many unique flavors and they were really good! We decided on getting the Riceberry horchata and Fior de Latte flavors. The Rice berry horchata had a really unique sweetness and cinnamon fusion that we loved! I especially loved the Fior de Latte, it's like the milkiest and creamiest vanilla soft serve! We ordered them in a cup and it came with a delicious house-made crunchy waffle crisp that complemented the gelato perfectly! Not to mention our server was so generous and patient with all the samples she let us try! A great experience overall, and such cool flavors, I highly recommend you give this place a try :)

Yelp
If you're at Del Amo and need a bit of dessert with all that shopping or even in the area and want some ice cream, definitely drop by. They are located in the old part of the mall but close to an exit that swinging by isn't too hard. The ice cream flavor has a Thai twist and I'm totally for it! My favorites are the rice berry horchata (using purple rice) and the tofu with black sugar (soy milk with a caramel touch). You can have it with sticky rice and a waffle bowl but I'm simple and opt just for a cup. The price is a bit with $8 with one scoop but it's a nice treat with a bit of unique Asian flavors and these days that's the average price. Owner and staff is nice and I'm excited for new flavors!

Yelp
Moom maam is a store that makes unique and delicous homemade ice cream! Located in the first floor of the older side of del amo (near dicks sporting goods) I tried the Belgian Chocolate, Uji Matcha, and Strawberry Balsamic flavors of which were all delicious, I especially enjoyed the Belgian Chocolate as it had a rich taste of cocoa, being just the right sweetness, matched with the Uji Matcha and Strawberry Balsamic, it was like eating a icy, creamy strawberry matcha latte, topped with decadent chocolate. I also had it in "The Special" a coconut gluten free waffle cone plus sticky rice, it was a crispy and glutinous Thai-themed addition. There are so many more flavors to try at moom maam and I will make sure be back!

Yelp
Still 5 stars!! I will never stop talking about them and wishing them all the success. The Thai Tea gelato flavor is actually my favorite and my go to. Customer service is so friendly and Darwin (Saran) has amazing culinary ideas. I consistently make the trek into LA to smorgasburg just for this gelato, and im so excited to visit their store front at Del Amo Fashion center. They are always innovating and coming up with new specials and ideas, and new flavors. I genuinely cannot recommend them enough.

D C.

Yelp
Delicious Unique flavors and a sweet lady. Really love the combination of the sweet sticky rice, thin crispy Thai waffle, and ice cream. It's unfortunate the shop is located in the emptier part of the mall, otherwise I think she would have lines all the time. But def worth the trip over the bridge.
google avatar

Michelle X.

Yelp
So glad we caught Moom Maam at DTLA Smorasburg because it truly is gelato fusion done right. A little on the pricey side but worth it. It's innovative, presented well, and delicious. The waffle skirt, the sticky rice at the bottom, and my black sesame was actually the nutty, gritty, black sesame, not the artificial watered-down kind.
google avatar

Leslie H.

Yelp
Came here based on the reviews but didn't realize it was inside of Del Amo by the Macy's home side. The owner, I think she was the owner was so sweet and offered us to sample many of the delicious flavors. We landed on the strawberry balsamic and the rice berry horchata. They were both soooo delicious on top of this very thin, crispy cone-like bowl. Can't wait to go back again and get some more!
google avatar

Ji K.

Yelp
Love this place! We got the mango sticky rice that comes with actual rice with a thin waffle like crisp along with mango and coconut ice cream. Omg sooo worth it and a must try!!

Yelp
A coworker brought us here and we have been back many times since! The auntie working there is super friendly and always recommends us try any flavor before deciding on our order. We've tried practically all the flavors available so far (couldn't help it!) and some of the flavors surprised us. So if you are unsure, I'd recommend trying it first! My current favorite is the limited durian mezcal drift flavor. I'm a durian lover and although it doesn't contain as strong of a durian flavor, I think this combination helps make it overall more enjoyable for those who may not like durian as much as I do. The best combination is to have some with the sweet rice, which is part of the special. Alternatively, the thai tea and flor di cocco combination is also delicious. Price-wise it may seem a bit pricey but they are quite generous with the serving size and the rewards accumulate quickly. If you haven't stopped by this gem yet in the older part of the del amo mall, you should make your way there now. You won't be disappointed with their flavors or portion size and I promise the wait will be worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
I'll always have soft spots for small businesses that produce excellent foods with excellent service. If you haven't had Thai style gelato, try it. I can't distinguish the texture between the different types of gelato, but what I can say is that the flavors are very much Thai. Not just the coconut or mango, which are standard fruit flavors, but they also have Thai tea, matcha, and black sesame. The worker was very nice and knowledgeable. I had the Special (which has waffle bits, coconut sticky rice, and toasted coconut w/carmelized coconut sugar) I had the mango and coconut gelato flavors. Absolutely delicious! It is such a treat, and definitely recommend you try it! Your taste buds will approve!
google avatar

Debora K.

Yelp
Had a hard time finding it but if you park near Macy's & Dick's and travel to the first floor of the old Del Amo, you'll find this hidden gem w/o having to travel around the mall like us (unless you like to walk)!! I remember seeing them as a food truck a long time ago & was very excited to see they opened a store front so close by. Finally had the honor of trying their gelato & was very pleased w/ the sweet owner's service & offerings of delicious/solid flavors. We tried a variety of flavors & eventually chose the thai tea & strawberry balsamic. The owner was so patient & sweet even when there were some people taking advantage of the samples. The price might surprise you at first but they give you generous portions. It's enough to share if you're hesitant, but you might not want to later. I think the best & hidden star was the waffle. DELICIOUS! Such a great snack w/ the gelato. Best waffle I've had in a very long time. It's hard to find an ice cream/dessert place w/ Asian/specifically Thai flavors in the South Bay & hope they flourish! I would come again just to see the owner bc she was so genuinely sweet. They also have a rewards program, so you could stack up points. Very excited to come again & try other seasonal flavors~

Yelp
We tried Moom Maam during their soft opening. They're located inside Del Amo Mall near Macy's, just a casual, quick service dessert spot. Both of the ladies helping us were so nice and friendly, and I think one of them was the owner too. They let us sample the different flavors of Thai gelato and also gave us samples of their glutten-free waffle. The thin waffle chip is sweet, crispy, and a wonderful complement to the gelato. I wanted something refreshing so I got the strawberry balsamic gelato, and it hit the spot. I also really liked the mango flavor I sampled. It's sweet and tart, just like a great mango, and the owner let me know they use fresh Costco mangos to keep up the quality standard. My friend ordered the black sesame gelato, and it was rich and creamy.
google avatar

Melanie G.

Yelp
Great customer service! They let you sample before choosing what you want. I sampled the mango and black sesame. The black sesame was one of the best black sesame desserts I've tried! Very good flavor without it being too strong. I tried some of the Thai tea gelato and it was also one of the best Thai tea flavored desserts I've had! I ended up getting a single scoop of the mango flavor. It was very fresh and was a great balance of sweet and tart. The coconut waffle chip on top is thin, crispy, sweet, not too coconut-y and buttery! A bit pricey for a single scoop of gelato but they gave a good sized portion! They're currently in their soft opening; definitely worth stopping by and trying! I'll be back to try more flavors!
google avatar

Yelp
It's hard to pass up Thai tea whenever I see it. And when it's in gelato on a hot day? Game over, man. I'm there. I came across Moom Maam at Smorgasburg earlier this month. Its flashy booth with lots of cool treat options immediately drew me in. I ordered a scoop of the Thai tea gelato, which came with a wedge of coconut waffle as well. After an early afternoon of indulging in lots of treats at Smorgasburg, I only ate about half, but what I had was delicious. It was worth the extra stop and extra purchase during this trip. I will say that if you do order it on a particularly hot day, grab some extra napkins because it was quickly dripping down my hand, even though it is served in a cup. Mess worth it though. Great ice cream option.
google avatar

Sabina D.

Yelp
I was craving ice cream and found this place nearby - sooo glad I stopped to try it! This spot has many unique flavors, but I specifically tried the following: thai tea, coconut, and almond. I got the special which comes with this crispy cone and sticky rice underneath. It's a little pricier, but I would say it's completely worth it!

Mia H.

Yelp
Very good gelato!! The flavors are very South East Asian as well which I loved. I got the Pandan flavor and my friend got the Thai Tea flavor and both were delicious. The lady working was also really nice and kind! It's in the older part of the mall, just outside the Macy's which enters into the food court, so it is a little hidden out of the way but still very lovely area and has some seating!
google avatar

Adam L.

Yelp
I looked up "dessert" on Yelp and found this place, and decided hey sure why not? Thai gelato sounds interesting. And ohhhhh man it exceeded expectations. Every flavor was punchy without being too sweet, the fruit flavors refreshing, the other flavors comforting. The two women working were SO nice, and clearly cared about their craft. They also offered as many samples as you want :) It's a smidge expensive, but they give you a lot, and the quality is the best you'll find. I don't even like ice cream and I'm already looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
I first discovered this ice cream spot at Venice Fest in Mar Vista while craving something sweet. With so many dessert vendors to choose from, their truck immediately stood out because of its unique, authentic flavors. I remember trying a variety of options: Thai tea, a horchata-inspired rice berry flavor, and more but the one that stole my heart was the Belgian chocolate. As a chocolate lover, I had tasted plenty of chocolate ice creams before, but this one was on another level rich, creamy, and indulgently smooth. It was unlike any chocolate flavor I had ever had before simply heavenly. From that moment on, I was hooked. My daughter opted for the horchata flavor, and someone else in our group tried the Thai tea, both of which were just as delicious. After that Venice Fest experience, I kept searching for them, hoping to find them nearby, but they were always at events and locations that were a bit out of reach. Then, a few years later, I was thrilled to see that they had a residency at Smorgasburg LA, where I could finally get my fix every Sunday at the weekly foodie event. Fast forward to recently. I saw on social media that they had opened a brick-and-mortar location, and to my surprise and excitement, it was close to home! Since Del Amo Mall is my go-to shopping spot, I made it a point to visit. The woman working there was incredibly kind and welcoming, making the experience even better. Of course, I sampled a few flavors, all of which were just as amazing as I remembered, but I ultimately stuck with my favorite the Belgian chocolate. And let me tell you, it's still just as phenomenal as the first time I had it. Despite trying countless ice cream shops over the years, I crave this one. Belgian Chocolate: 5/5 - The best chocolate ice cream I've ever had, and I frequent many ice cream spots. Riceberry Horchata: 4.5/5 - My daughter loved this flavor, and she's very hard to please! If they have the coconut flavored waffle bowl, get it! You will not be disappointed. The shop itself isn't huge, so you won't find tables and chairs, but they do have benches where you can sit and enjoy your ice cream. If you love unique, high-quality ice cream, you must give this place a try. Let's support them and help ensure they stay open for years to come!
google avatar

Sandy P.

Yelp
Excellent gelato flavors and generous portions! Nice lady boss who graciously comped me a flavor since she saw I only picked the ones my kids wanted. Interesting idea to have sticky rice at the bottom! It worked! As did the flakes and thin crepe waffle bowl. My family and I had the black sesame, mango, and chocolate. Will be back for the Thai iced tea and espresso! We wish them all the success at this location! We will be back for all our special occasions!
google avatar

Sharmila T.

Yelp
The ice cream was top notch! We got the waffle bowl with rice and then tofu gelato and Thai tea it was sooo good! It was just very pricey is the only thing.

Yelp
Moom Maam is a smal Thai gelato spot located in Del Amo mall. At first, I couldn't find where it was, but found it on the first floor of the older part of the mall. I walked in with my mom and was greeted by the person I believe was the owner. She offered us lots of samples and even gave us samples of flavors we weren't thinking of trying. This place's specialty is their ice cream on top of some sticky rice, or maybe I should say a mountain of ice cream on sticky rice. Initially, the price turned me away because it is more expensive than other places. However, after seeing it being made, the price is definitely justified. We got the thai tea and matcha flavors, and both of these were great! The matcha reminded me of the matcha soft serve that I had from Japan. It was very strong and not too sweet. Definitely coming back for their matcha ice cream and to try other flavors!
google avatar

Ami M.

Yelp
I had the special with rice and gelato in fior di latte and fior di cocco flavors, wow! I will sweet sticky rice, creaminess, and crunchy waffle cone any day!
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
We were recommended to try this dessert place by a waitress at Lazy Dog and it did not disappoint. The woman who helped us was very sweet and let us try several samples. The One Flavor LA Times Special seemed pricey at first ($11.95), but it was large enough for two to share. The black sesame was delicious combined with the chewy texture or the rice and the light crunch of the coconut and waffle bowl. The main downside is that there isn't really any seating and it is not located in the mall's upstairs food court - you basically walk thru Macy's and go downstairs to get there. It is worth trying if you want a unique dessert experience.
google avatar

Jeni C.

Yelp
Wild flavors in a wild location. The cashier let us sample every flavors. I got burnt caramel tofu and my friend got some other weird flavor (LOL). The location is obscure-- down the escalator on the basement floor towards the old Sears location. Wandered the mall a bit trying to find it but it was worth the search, especially if you consider BR's 31 Flavors to be boring....

Yelp
this is a small shop inside del amo mall on the first floor! unfortunately there is no seating but you can walk around the mall to find a spot to sit down and eat your ice cream (at least that's what we did) the lady serving us was so nice and sweet!!! she let us sample the gelato before ordering and even let us have a little waffle chip as a sample too! not only that but she gave us a very generous portion of gelato! we got the black sesame gelato~ it's very difficult to find a place that sells this flavor of ice cream so coming here was worth the drive. the sesame flavor was also not mild like other places! it was very present and nutty (i love it!!!!) the waffle chip was also tasty; it reminded me of an egg roll (the sweet pastry kind, not the savory kind) it was kind of quiet when we went. business seemed slow which makes me sad because this gelato was really good! i hope more people can come over and try out this place :) 10/10!!!

Yelp
Matcha Gelato here is the bomb. Strong flavor of matcha. Their Thai Tea is really good too. Also try their special that comes with sticky rice. Best sticky rice here

Yelp
I've tried this place twice at Smorgasburg and both times I was not impressed. Yes, the ice cream flavors are unique but I wish the flavors were more pronounced - specially if I am playing close to $10 for a cup of ice cream.

Yelp
Don't forget to check into Yelp for 20% off your order. The owner was super sweet. We had some samples and eventually decided on black sesame and coconut. Coconut was really good. Underneath the ice cream was a layer of sweet rice. Very generous portion size. This place was really hard to locate. It's inside a mall next to the US postal service.

Yelp
Moon maam is such a hidden gem in Del Amo. We heard about it from Smorgasburg in LA and now they finally have an official shop! The staff was super friendly and patient when we had a hard time picking which flavor to get because they were all so unique and delicious!! Our top favorite was Thai tea, riceberry horchata, strawberry balsamic, and mango. Each gelato was so creamy, fresh, and tasty. I would highly recommend trying the gelato as a special with a waffle cone, coconut flakes, and warm sticky rice.

Yelp
A new ice cream spot at Del amo mall! The owner is so friendly and let me try sample some of the flavors and even the yummy waffle chip. The flavors are unique and so good! I ended up getting 1 matcha scoop and appreciated the rich/strong flavor (but not too bitter) and wasn't too sweet. They are very generous with the portions as well. It's located next to the post office so it is in a more remote area of the mall but please try it! The service and flavors/quality of the ice cream was awesome:)

Yelp
Wasn't too sure what to expect with Thai gelatos but wow I'm glad I've tried it! I got the black sesame gelato and it was really good! The cracker that they give you on top... so so good! I would love to go back and try other flavors on their menu!

Yelp
I'm honestly having difficulty on how to write this review because I'm so blown away by all the flavors!! I sampled many flavors, and although I loved everything, it actually made my decision in choosing which flavor to get much harder. I ordered The Special with Khanom Phing (Thai candle-smoked cookies); the gelato sits on a bed of coconut sticky rice (true to Thai style ice cream), with both being nestled in a thin waffle. Let me just say that it was AMAZING! The textures are enriching; with the perfect bite you get the cold, creamy, and smokey gelato with sticky chewy rice all whilst getting a crunch from the waffle. I love love love the smokiness of the Khanom Phing. Moom Maam is located in Smorgasburg LA, and is perfect for anyone visiting with a sweet tooth. Highly suggest adding to your list!

Yelp
An amazing hidden gem gelato spot!! Small local spot that should get more of a shoutout. It was quite difficult to find. It's inside the mall right side of Joann and Claire's. That's probably why not a lot of people know about this hidden gem. The workers were very kind and patient and let us try various flavors. We got the espresso and fior de coco (coconut milk) Amazing flavor, not too sweet - must try spot!!

Yelp
Well the ice cream was great and I had so much fun coming to this place!!! But then when we ordered we had to wait a long time to the point where we had to tell the guy who worked there where is the ice cream with matcha and Thai tea and then it took like another 25 minutes then we finally got are ice Cream. out of ten I rated this a five

Yelp
This shop is owned by the sweetest lady! She was so kind and we were able to sample a lot of the flavors before committing. Not to mention the gelato was phenomenal!! I usually prefer ice cream over gelato and do not like coconut flavored things but their coconut gelato was incredible. It was my favorite! Tip: The easiest way to get there from macy's is actually going downstairs within macy's to exit instead of going down the escalator near aah's. Quicker way to get to the shop!

Yelp
This is one of those true hole in the wall places that I'm sure will be busy with long lines out the door very soon. My boyfriend and I were visiting the mall and noticed this new place tucked away right under the bridge between the old and new parts of Del Amo mall We were super intrigued by their sign saying "Thai gelato" and had to stop by. We were greeted right away and got to learn a little bit about Moom Maam, like how they use ingredients imported from Thailand and also how offer a gluten free coconut waffle crisp. We tasted just a few of the flavors which were all great but landed on the Thai tea and Uji Matcha for our order. They gave us crazy huge portions and the flavor of both were amazing. I'm an avid Thai tea drinker and the Thai tea flavor was SPOT on. The matcha was nice and rich as well- my boyfriend's family is from Japan and he actually dislikes most matcha ice creams because they're too sweet, but he really enjoyed this one for its genuine matcha flavor. Our favorite part of the treat actually the waffle crisp- it was thin, crunchy, and had this savory coconut flavor that we really enjoyed. Overall we had a great experience, and we really hope this place gets the recognition it deserves! If you are in the mall and want a quick and yummy sweet treat, this is a great spot to go!

Yelp
Delicious gelato/ice cream! And the owner was so kind, letting me try the flavors to make my choice. I'll definitely be back. P.S. to find them, park outside Macy's on the bottom level and enter the mall from there. They're right across from the Macys interior entrance
