The Ultimate Guide to Boba in New York City

"Pa Tea is a cute bubble tea spot easily recognizable by its adorable cartoon bear logo. It first opened in Chinatown in 2013, and its second location on 14th street opened in 2016. Their popular drinks include the rose milk tea, an Oreo milkshake, and the Black-and-Yellow Milk. For those that can’t get enough, there is also a bigger stubby size — at 26 ounces — available." - Anna Huang, Chloe Chan

Google
Came fast, and super creamy!! I got the Thai tea with regular boba 50% sugar. Super cute and very good!! Size options were great, and even offer small or big boba pearls. It was $7.15 for 24oz. Do reccomend!!

Google
Sufficient bubble tea that will cost you an arm and a leg for vs it’s worth. But that feels like a systemic market issue rather than this place. Too sweet

Google
MooMooChaa is charming. A small space with limited seating, but filled with decorations and calm music. There is a board filled with post-it notes filled with art. It is a nice, relaxing place to enjoy some tea. I got the brown sugar oolong milk tea. Beautiful presentation for a plastic container. They were out of large bubbles so I got small bubbles. The taste of the milk tea was fine, what one expects from a milk tea. However, it seemed a bit lacking - perhaps for its price which is a bit higher than other places for I have been for the same size.

Google
Great value and great taste. Will definitely be back! I loved the passion fruit black tea.

Google
This place was nice to stop by and get a quick boba fix, and I did not expect the stubby size to be so big. 😭 I got the taro milk tea with 50% sugar, and it didn't disappoint. Could definitely come back, especially because the person who took my order was so sweet and gave me a post-it for the moo moo message wall.

Google
Tiny spot, but stellar bubble milk tea! I got the taro milk medium w 30% sugar and it was delicious. Perfect boba-- chewy but not "hard". Tea was sweet but not cloying. With boba the medium (16oz) was 7.02% including. Tax I've been here before but this time that drink was even better and the front cashier was very sweet. Again, very small space, maybe 3 stools, and there are 2 steps to go in. Not Accessible, but the sign outside says they are happy to assist all. Cheerful interior.

Google
Cute place, great bubble tea, vegan options available (see below)! Recommended! It's a cute little place, with very attentive employees and reaaaally good bubble tea! You can choose the amount of sugar and ice (see pictures) 🎉 Prices are reasonable. Some people have suggested to share the large (26 oz) option between 2 people.... if you like Bubble Tea, just get 2×24oz instead. The 26oz option is large for one person, but not really enough for 2 people in my opinion ;) Note: They have plant-based milk options for the Tea Lattes, but NOT for the Milk Teas. After asking, one employee told me the milk teas are non-dairy, but afterwards specified that he called it non-dairy because they use milk powder instead of liquid milk (so these are not vegan).

Google
This is 5-6 mins walk from 14th union square, its a tiny store, there is no indoor seating available. It was not crowded when i went in there, the service was quick and really nice! Was out with my bubble tea in 5-6 mins. The price is reasonable not expensive for a medium size it costed me $8. Which is not bad atall. Should visit, there is something different here than usual

Yelp
my drink was so sweet and i like sweet so maybe I would get less sugar next time. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for it to be this sweet but I say in the summer if you're really thirty and craving something sweet sweet then this flavor is for you with 50% suga. Mango Yakult bev. There is seats but about 5 individual seating, small shop so be aware if it's packed then hard to get seating

Yelp
very small tea shop with 1 small bar to sit at and small table for 2 people basically. the workers are friendly and be prepared to wait a bit for your tea! it took about 10 minutes to make. we weren't in a rush so this was ok but we didn't know that it would take so long so would've been nice to know beforehand given we ordered first with no customers ahead of us and one other person ordered behind us. Fresh lemon green tea - If you like sour you should definitely get this! the sourness is strong but super yummy and has a good amount of sweetness to help balance it out! I can really taste both the lemon and the green tea. 4.75/5 brown sugar oolong milk tea - I can really taste the tea in this drink too! nice ratio of milk to oolong but not as impressive as the other drink. bobas are about standard. 3.75/5

Yelp
The staff was very friendly. On a weekday night, it was quiet and my order was ready in no more than 5 minutes. The boba was chewy, although it didn't have much flavor to it. The hot medium Tie Guan Yin Latte was perfect for the freezing weather.

Yelp
I've been to this spot when it was PaTea and when it became MooMooChaa and it's about the same either business. It's an ok spot if you're in proximity and want your boba for the day. Otherwise don't go out of your way to come here when there are better boba options in the city. This is a not a spot to come with a group of friends to hang out, it's a take out spot and not because they're so busy. Even when you're waiting, it's better to go outside if you're not by yourself or there are already a few people inside. So if you come during winter, then be prepared to wait outside for your order because this place is so small. It's got two little corners on either side of the store that people could stand at but if there's already 4 people in the store then you're out of luck. As far as the drinks go, they do their job and taste like a typical boba spot, I don't have anything to complain about from the ones I've tried. Got both a hot and cold drink here before. The staff here aren't the friendliest or create a better experience compared to other businesses but maybe they don't like the store layout either because it's almost like they are hiding behind that counter ha

Yelp
Stopped by this place before the movies and Im glad I did! The inside is small and there's not much seating, but the workers are nice. I got a small grapefruit green tea. The grapefruit flavor is strong and fresh. I didn't get boba this time, but will definitely come back to try it.

Yelp
Really liked their drinks but would definitely recommend getting 30% sugar. The drink size was also big for an average large price elsewhere and there was a lot of people when I went though the drinks were made at a pretty fast pace. Overall a good bubble tea spot!

Yelp
Awesome place! Found it when I was walking around in the area. The bubble teas are amazing and the shop is small and cute. I ordered the mango ice cream swirl and then jasmine milk tea. Both were so good!

Yelp
I love this boba place!! I got the lychee milk green tea, and it was sweet and milky. I like that their drinks are creamy - it was so refreshing. The place is small, only one seat to sit at. Their service was fast. Overall I would definitely recommend! Their drinks are a bit pricier, but I think it's worth it for the higher quality.

Yelp
Stumbled here as I was looking for bubble tea options along 14st. This was the highest rated one. I see photos on Yelp showing the PaTea logo but that's not their name right now. I'm thinking if MooMooChaa took over when PaTea closed rather than simply changing names. This place has the highest ratings out of all the nearby options but I don't think it's worth the ratings. All parts of my experience were not good. I ordered an oolong milk tea with tapioca, less ice, 30% sugar. The oolong tea base was very "dusty" and rough in the mouth. The tapioca was less than expected and was stale. It was tough. The milk is using milk powder. I probably haven't drank milk powder bubble tea in over a year, and now I take fresh milk for granted. I forgot how the powderiness of milk powder is so overpowering and also rough to the palette. Also this is the first time I've been to this store (in the past only went to the Soho PaTea). It's not their fault the store layout is so weird, but it still affects the experience. The stairs are steep and narrow. The storefront is also very cramped. You have like two steps between the front door and the cashier. Then to the left and right of the cashier are seats. I don't know where to stand while waiting for my order, because I'd either get in the way of someone sitting or someone ordering. If I'm paying $7 for a bubble tea, why should I buy it here. I honestly should've walked a little further and went to FiftyLan instead for the SAME PRICE which is way better - not saying they're especially good but at least none of this unpleasantness.

Yelp
I ordered a slushie and was surprised by how bad it was for the price paid. Slush was more of a crushed iced drink than a smooth shaved iced that can be slurped up with a straw. The ingredients certainly came from a powder. For the price, I would go a few blocks south to get more quality stuff by St. Marks.

Yelp
I have literally been looking for a place in the US to get bubble tea that has mini boba ever since I spent time in Taiwan and had mini boba there. It is so uncommon where I am from and I was ecstatic to find it while visiting New York City. This place was a hole on the wall of perfection. Perfect tea to milk ratio and perfectly cooked mini boba. I would have gone back every day if it were closer to my hotel. The service was quick and they even had a bogo special going when we were there. They have an extra large option ans cost wise its worth it to size up. We got the medium size and wish we would've opted for the bigger!

Yelp
One of my favorite bubble tea places! It used to be named PaTea but I think it's still the same owned but with a different name. My go to order is Jasmine Milk Tea, 50% sugar with MINI BUBBLES. The tea is strong and gives you that welcoming aftertaste. And you MUST get the mini bubbles, I love it so much more than the regular size ones. If you're feeling thirsty, get their stubby cup! It resembles a bowl which can get you some interesting looks on the NYC streets. Bring your Student ID card to save a little money :)

Yelp
Stumbled here for after dinner tea. Had their mango peach green tea. With boba. You get to choose between the small and big boba also get to choose the sugar levels. Also they serve a huge huge cup if you're into that. Very tasty tea. Service was super quick. Seating isn't much but if you're planning to sit you can get boba here and sit at union square. Thanks for the delicious dessert!

Yelp
It's hard to stand out as a bubble tea spot nowadays. For me, I like a solid tea flavor - not too sweet and balanced with both the milky/sweetness of the drink and tapioca bubbles that, the fresher the better. It was a solid 5/10 on all accounts. Got the brown sugar boba drink and each boba spot now usually has some variety of this; this one wasn't quite the best. It wasn't too sweet which was good and had a nice brown sugar flavor but it was milky, runny and the flavor wasn't very concentrated. The boba were chewy and standard - didn't feel super fresh. Maybe will give this another try someday!

Yelp
Jasmine green milk tea: refreshing and not too sweet! I've been drinking a lot of bubble tea these days, but I like to stop by Pa Tea when I'm heading by East Village. I'm a sucker for cute branding, and the happy little bear on the storefront always draws me in.... There's no seating indoors and it is quite a small space. If multiple people are ordering, you usually have to wait outside the shop because there's no room inside. What I like is that there are multiple places to read the menu: inside above the cashier, on a TV on the side wall, and on the exterior of the store. I have really terrible vision so it's helpful to read... Despite the small space, there are cheerful signs hanging around the walls and seasonal decorations. It's a little cluttered but not overwhelming. I like to come here for a simple milk tea. My latest visit was for a jasmine green milk tea, which was refreshing and not overly sweet/cloying. You can really taste the tea without getting overwhelmed by the sugar. I usually don't get tapioca, but this place offers small tapioca which I actually like. Overall, a really nice bubble tea place with a wide selection of flavors, and the cutest branding in the world.

Yelp
So so good, boba is perfect texture tho I will say I prefer the normal over the minis

Yelp
I'm so happy PaTea is still thriving during this time. The store holds a lot of memories for me and my friends, having been around for years. The store doesn't offer indoor seating anymore, but nonetheless, I was greeted by the same owner/manager years ago. I only now learned their milk tea is made from a dairy free milk (can confirm my stomach was not hurt!) and they also use almond milk/lactaid for their other drinks. I got the Lychee Milk Green Tea with Mini Bubbles in Medium, and it still tastes as amazing as I last remembered. The lychee taste is prominent, and the mini bubbles are always so fun to chew. I love that they still keep their post-its wall. Going here is always a trek since it's not in our area, but my friends and I would never hesitate to adventure here for it.

Yelp
Drinks are awful and staffs are rude! Trash immediately after first sip! Go there only if you want to get diabetes!

Yelp
As with every single other boba milk tea shop I regularly try, I ordered the oolong milk tea, 30% sugar, with the lowest ice option. It was exceptional. The tea within the milk tea is stronger and definitely high quality. You can taste the difference as between this "tan pei" oolong tea versus some of the others in NYC. I believe most will gravitate towards oolong variants specifically because they appreciate stronger (slightly bitter) complexion, and that is the case for me. Creamy milk tea (I generally recommend milk tea versus fresh milk for a concentrated creamy taste). As compared to other oolong milk teas, which I very frequently purchase in NYC, I feel MooMooCha's is firmly in the upper, upper echelons of what is available. Their boba pearls are decent and well formed. They were "que", but not remarkably better or worse than competitor shops. Still above average: they are consistently spherical with springy texture, no sugary or honey coating, and of robust quantity relative to the amount of liquid milk tea. Many boba shops' pearls are sometimes inconsistently formed/chipped/halved, but MooMooCha's was not. Highly recommend. I think the oolong milk tea is unparalleled in the Union Square area of Manhattan (taking even into account the likes of Teazzi). As with other reviews, I will come back a number of times to re-evaluate over the course of multiple experiences. Will report any changes if I have lesser accounts. Otherwise, my initial impression is that this shop is first-rate.

Yelp
[NYC BOBA TOUR STOP #2] The standouts of this store are definitely the large selection, their signature 26 oz stubby cup, their mini boba, and their student/vaccinated discount. *chef's kiss* all around for all of these things. The stubby size is PERFECT for when you want a lot of boba but you don't want to actually feel like you're drinking a lot of boba (big brain move). Unfortunately, even though we finished our drinks (boba is boba), we were a little underwhelmed by the drinks themselves. The milk teas we got (brown sugar oolong and rose) were not very flavorful once you removed the sugar from them. I got less sugar in my brown sugar oolong and could only taste the oolong milk tea. My cousin got the mango ice cream swirl; she said it tasted good but was a little overly sweet (which, I suppose, is expected since there's a bunch of ice cream on the bottom but still). All that being said, we'd come back to try out their other flavors and to get those stubbies again!
google avatar

Florence F.

Yelp
Formerly Pa Tea this is the tea spot. Always quality, great service and they are the only folks who carry those mini bubbles that are THE BEST. Also their tea is just high quality, also they use fresh grapefruit for any of their grapefruit bevies which I really appreciate. Simply the best of all the other competitors around.

Yelp
I had the oreo milkshake with tapioca that's advertised in front. What's not to like? Oreo milkshake? Good. Boba? Good. The sizes come in medium, large and ... super? (s stands for the largest size). The oreo milkshake with tapioca in the medium came out to be $7 something - they don't ask for a tip. They don't even give you the receipt unless you ask. Turnaround time is maybe 5 minutes - they're pretty quick. Surprisingly the sugar levels aren't that high even though I ordered a milkshake. Inside is pretty small, but clean. They're blaring k-pop music although this isn't a Korean owned/run establishment from what I can tell. They play some really old ones as well - I heard some debut Big Bang songs there. Along one wall there's maybe 4 high stools where you can sit and sip for a bit. Too small to be a place to bring a laptop and work for an hour or so. And signal doesn't seem to reach inside this building - I didn't see a wifi listed for them either but didn't verify with the workers. Decent clean/affordable/delicious place on the east side for tapioca.

Yelp
One of my favorite bubble tea shops for the mango Yakult. They offer the stubby size which is a huge cup for those who'd like to share (or who am I kidding, drink the whole thing). Sometimes they offer a free upgrade form Large to Stubby, a great deal!
google avatar

Leilani S.

Yelp
Came to this place bc I was craving boba and they did not disappoint Got the passion peach tea and the mango peach tea both at 70% sugar. Very very sweet I recommend doing 50% or lower. 70% tastes like 100% at other places Cute little spot but not a place to sit and relax. It's a place where you get your drink and go.
google avatar

Crystale Y.

Yelp
The cutest and smallest boba shop in the area! I ordered the stubby which is 30 oz and I have no regrets. I got the rose milk tea with boba and 70% sugar. I do like my drinks on the less sweet side so the 70% was perfect. The workers here are super friendly and will never give you a hard time. The atmosphere is very welcoming and you can even leave a message on a post-it on their wall. They also offer a student discount for all the students nearby! Will definitely be back when i'm in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Visited PaTea for the second time and ordered the Matcha Tea Latte with Almond milk and bubbles. Really liked that they offer a non dairy alternative, but it's only available for certain drinks, which I find a bit odd. Also, less ice wasn't available for this drink- and there was definitely too much ice. Unfortunately, I wasn't given a generous serving of boba. However, the matcha was mixed in well, and I like how the drink was presented in layers so I could mix it up myself. Will probably visit again and try something new in the future.

Yelp
Love the stubby! My friends and I used to come here before the name change but the quality still delivers! We ordered a rose milk tea, passion fruit green milk tea and lychee green milk tea, all delicious and with mini bubbles. 10/10 bubble tea spot! You also get a free upgrade to stubby size when you buy a large - always a plus :)
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered off DoorDash and was pleasantly surprised at how good this boba was! I usually don't have much faith in boba places with Hello Kitty-esque logos and huge menus, but PaTea proved me wrong. I ordered the Rose Milk Tea with Boba, and my boyfriend ordered the Lychee Green Tea with Honey Aloe. Rose Milk Tea (5/5) - This is one of my go-to orders in back home in California, but I don't see it as often on menus in New York and haven't found a place that does it well until now. Sweet (but not too sweet) and creamy, with a nice rose flavor that isn't too strong or syrupy. And the boba was pretty squishy too! Lychee Green Tea (5/5) - A nice and refreshing fruity drink, you usually can't go wrong with this order. It wasn't overly sweet or watered down, and the aloe was a fun topping that you don't see often in NYC boba places either. Would definitely order again next time I get a boba craving :)

Yelp
PaTea is my all-time favorite bubble tea shop and I've become a regular customer! I first discovered this place in high school when everyone was Instagramming and raving about the Stubby cups that hold a ton of bubble tea! Now, it's because my regular bubble tea shop because a) I live nearby and b) they have my favorite bubble tea flavor. My go-to bubble tea flavor is Rose Milk Tea. The shop itself is very quaint and small and meant for take out/pick up orders only. They have tons of bubble tea options but they don't sell food. Before the pandemic though, they used to have seating areas near the windows. The interiors give me a college spot vibe and I find the kitsch decorations and customer post-its very cute. They even have student and birthday discounts when you provide ID. The employees are also very polite and speedy with orders. I appreciate that they are also open very late, because sometimes you need this late boba runs! I highly recommend visiting this bubble tea shop and getting yourself a stubby because it's fun and most definitely will be back! When you check in on Yelp, you'll also get a Magic straw!
google avatar

Sanjna S.

Yelp
This spot definitely got some traction on instagram and since I was in the area figured I'd try it out! It's a very tiny but good spot! Service was super friendly and interior was cozy but not much space for people to sit/hang out. I ordered a classic black tea milk bubble tea 30% sugar w/ large boba (yes, they have a small size boba which was interesting!). My drink was delicious!! Tea was strong and creamy, the bubbles were chewy and good overall texture. My brother got the oreo bubble tea which comes w/ a prefix amount of sugar -- which was too much for our liking, wish that could've been adjusted. There is a yelp check-in offer for a "magic straw" which is a total scam haha I asked for it like a yelp dweeb and he acknowledged it and gave me regular large boba straw!!! haha It was amusing, because then he proceeded to tell me how to stab the top cover to drink as if I've never had boba :P Anyways, aside from that the spot is great for some classic tea and service was fast.
google avatar

Yelp
Some damn good boba tea!! And the stubby size is fantastic when you need more tea to fuel your thirst. I would travel to get this boba again because it's so worth it to me.
google avatar

Alicia L.

Yelp
Decent boba place! Ordered the black milk tea with boba at 30% sweetness. The sweetness level was perfect - not too sweet, and the drink had a good tea flavor. It could have been a bit stronger, but that that might be up to personal preference. The boba was a little too chewy and didn't taste super fresh, but still satisfied by boba craving. It's a really small store with only a few seats, so definitely more of a grab and go type of place.
google avatar

Brianna C.

Yelp
I got their jasmine green milk tea with mini boba 30% sweet and I loved it!! It was the perfect level of milky-ness and tea-y-ness! You could taste the tea flavor nicely while also tasting the milky flavor. Would get it again no doubt!! Love the mini boba too, so fun!

Yelp
So come and get some at PA TEA It's cheaper than Bae on a SPENDING SPREE It's easier than learning your ABC It's easier than counting One Two THREE It's easier than being gay in PARIS Than France being invaded by GERMANY Than Cochran declaring you're NOT GUILTY And getting the DA to accept your PLEA It's cheaper than my Bae's hourly FEE It's easier than bribing a FIFA REFEREE And every sip is more than one CALORIE It'll make you get larger, I GUARANTEE And all that TEA will make you run and PEE And if you have $$$$ you can go on ME But only after Bae changes my name to BAMBI Until then maybe you can have a FREEBIE But only if you take me to NYC And buy me Brown Sugar Milk PA TEA! WHAT! When I'm here, it's more like Oppa Tea. But anyway. False advertising. It's not even IN PENNSYLVANIA. Like wow. What to get: Brown Sugar Milk Tea What not to get: PA Systems here. They don't sell them. False advertising again. Incredibly extraordinarily friendly people at this particular location which has in some ways replaced the one in Chinatown that closed down but has itself been replaced by the Bar PA Tea location that serves generic soft serve ice cream which isn't my favourite, but is the obsession of all of Manhattan. The brown sugar milk tea and oolong brown sugar milk tea are both pretty delicious although they will try to talk you into getting the Oolong version and I highly recommend you get the regular brown sugar version because I think it's much better - but both of them are good. Definitely five star bubble tea and definitely well worth a trip when you are in town. Some of the nicer people that I came across in Manhattan. My review of the previous location (which still applies to this one, same products, but slightly different area of Man-Hat-On) was as follows: PA Tea is a cute little Bubble Tea shop in the Chinatown-Little Italy area of Manhattan. In an area that has about 573 bubble tea shops, it stands out because of its lovely service, its competitive prices, and its lovely tasting drinks. The Brown Sugar Milk Tea was yummy, but then I usually love this drink wherever I get it (especially at the chain Sharetea), but I'd much rather get it at a place like PA and support a little local business. Their menu is not only extensive but also exceptional. It has all the flavours I usually love, from Oolong to Lemon and everything in between. So far I've only had the Brown Sugar, it was very tasty and a 5-star. The exceptionally friendly young man who seemed delighted to serve me and get me on my way is what tips it over the edge. Next time I'm in Manhattan, I'll definitely stop by and try some more products since the Brown Sugar Milk Tea was great. They're famous for "Stubby Cups." Talk about the least sexy sounding type of cup on earth. Sounds like one of our clients. This is also the favourite bubble tea of PAnic At The Disco, PAula Abdul, PAul Anka, PAmela Anderson and PAtricia Arquette.

Danny L.

Yelp
Check out my in-depth review on Insta @dlireviews! :) Was craving boba after a meal, and after surveying nearby options in East Village, I landed on PaTea because of the 1) plentiful fruit tea options and 2) positive reviews. I ordered the large lychee green tea. It took a while to come out since there was only one worker in the store, but he was very nice regardless and I didn't mind the wait. Most notably about the drink is how generous they are with the bubbles - I had a LOT; nearly 1/4 the drinks! Now for me, that's amazing, and the boba was pretty standard but delicious as always. For the drink itself, it was very fresh tasting and not too sweet by any means on the standard 50% sugar. The green tea flavor is also stronger than most places I've had, which I actually like since it makes the drink more refreshing than sugary. Overall, a great boba stop here in NYC! PROS: - lots of fruit tea and milk tea options available - generous portion size for bubbles and for the drink itself - fresh tasting tea with a sweet spot on balancing sugar level and tea flavor - friendly and timely staff CONS: - store is a bit small so can be hard to find space while waiting

Yelp
This is the only bubble tea chain in the city that I know I can fall back on. I have never been to their main location in Chinatown, but the service in the Union Square location is great and hassle-free. I actually haven't stopped by for 2 years and was surprised that the same cashier was still there. He was patient and nice and when I asked for recommendations, he actually sounded enthusiastic about his choices. I ended up getting the passion fruit green milk tea and the brown sugar milk tea (his recommendation along with the rose milk tea). Although you have to pay 50¢ each now for the toppings, they still have the free stubby upgrade they've honored for years. They also have almond milk for an additional 75¢ which is a super rare alternative in boba places (usually they will use whole milk or milk powder in their drinks). By default, they use coffee creamer or lactaid milk here. This is a big concern for me as I am lactose-intolerant and I'm glad the gentleman at the register was transparent with me. The passion fruit green milk tea surprisingly worked. I was a bit skeptical since most places usually have their fruit flavors and milk teas separated, but I love passion fruit and I trusted Pa Tea enough to know that they wouldn't make something disgusting. I wasn't disappointed. The tea flavor was a little bit of an after taste, but the passion fruit flavor was there. The brown sugar milk tea is pretty self explanatory. The pearls that they use here hold their shape well. I wasn't able to actually open my drink until 2 hours after ordering because of running to meetings but the pearls didn't become overly chewy which is what I usually experience with Kung Fu Tea. The girl making the drinks was very efficient. I was able to order and get my drinks within 5 minutes with another customer ahead of me. Although this place is very small and more for to-go orders, there are seating areas on both sides. One side has a small bar and stools and the other is a decently spacious wooden ledge with a cushion. The post-its all around are a cute touch and a little something to look at while you wait for your order.

Yelp
There's Gong Cha right next door & Vivi across the street, but PaTea is unique from other bubble tea spots in that they offer a stubby (large soup bowl-like) cup. Like why would you not get a stubby when you come here?? The stubby cup is cute & it holds more liquid than a standard large cup, so it quenches your thirst/satisfies your bubble tea cravings all in one-go. It is a bit pricier at a price tag of 5.99 (with topping), but it's worth it because it takes a while to finish. In fact, I had this cup in my hand all throughout my 1 hr+ commute back home. PaTea also has similar options to other bubble tea spots, so you can choose from your favorite ones. Or try a totally new one like the brown sugar tea options, matcha oolong, etc. And they also offer different toppings and bubbles ranging from the standard/mini or a mix of both. They have lots to offer, so this makes for competition among the other bubble tea spots in the neighborhood.

Yelp
A little on the sweeter side even though I asked for it less sweet (30%) the milk tea was too sweat & too milky... hard to actually taste the tea flavor. I did appreciate that they offer discounts to students and those who are vaccinated! There is a wide selection of drinks and I would come back to try some more. Overall, I was not blown away, I think I definitely still have others I would prefer but this is great in a pinch since it's near me.

Yelp
Super tiny bubble tea shop - if they didn't have the sign out in the front I would have definitely missed it haha. It looks like they always have deals going on and free upgrades, so take advantage! I tried the black tea with ice cream with mini bubbles and it is soooo good! The tea flavor is strong and goes really well with the vanilla ice cream. Should have gotten a larger size. Will definitely come back to try the fruit teas.

Yelp
I saw this place in an article and really wanted to try it. I happened to be by the location and came in around my 8:45pm. They have quite the menu and I decided to try a brown sugar oolong milk tea. I had less ice and 50% sugar. No toppings added. I loved my drink! My boyfriend got an orange yakult drink, he loved it. We both got larges and its about 75 cents more. Both drinks were so tasty and I highly recommend! Drinks weren't super sweet but delicious! They also have a 5% discount for students.

Yelp
In light of one of the bubble tea competitor businesses being unwilling to include their macchiato teas in their online delivery menu, we decided to give Pa Tea a try next door. Very pleased with the taste and quality of both their Peach Tea Macchiato cream top, and the Black Tea Latte. We have a new favorite spot in town! And the convenience of not having to subway to Union Square every time we need a drink is a big plus. Uber Eats delivered both our drinks with no issue and no quality degradation during travel.

Yelp
3.5 stars. No lasting impressions with their normal boba (no cheese cap). It's a good drink, but I think it's just an ok drink. Bubbles are chewy and soft, and the cups can be cute to carry around. A bit expensive for boba, but there is a student discount if you can utilize that.

Yelp
Stopped in here today on my never ending bubble tea quest. Ordered a Mango Green Tea with honey aloe and accepted a promotional upgrade from large to stubby (aka XL) which ran me $5.44 which is comporable to the Flushing price I'm used to paying. My tea was delicious and the aloe was very soft and chewy. The green tea was beyond flavorful and not overly sweet. The interior and the overall vibe down to the cups here is truly adorable. They also run a bunch of promotions and student discounts. Please be aware the card minimum here is $8 or a .50 cent surcharge (it is clearly printed on the register)

Yelp
This is my favorite spot to get bubble tea from in NYC. Luckily I live and work pretty close by (maybe this is a bad thing on second thought...) but PaTea has really captured a special place in my heart. Obviously I go to the stubby when I come here (can you say no restraint..?) but what really stands out to me about PaTea is how authentically Taiwanese the tea tastes here. Not necessarily the highest quality tea I've ever tasted but for whatever reason the drinks here really take me back to street shops of Taipei selling bubble tea. The boba here is interesting, as there are two sizes that you are able to choose from, mini and normal size tapioca. I typically for the normal size tapioca because they bring a better chewiness that isn't found in the mini version, although sometimes when I'm adventurous I'll get a mix of both or if I'm trying to savor the drink and enjoy it slowly, I'll even get the mini boba alone (smaller straw = longer lasting drink!). I've tried a variety of the different flavors here, including the oolong (always my personal favorite), black and jasmine tea. Overall, fairly priced for NYC boba. Locally owned - this is their only location. A must try for any boba fans in the area!

Yelp
I really liked the bubble tea from here. The matcha was really tasty, and I got it with a dairy free milk and bubbles! They have a lot of other flavors to choose from and I would go back!

Yelp
I loved PaTea. I didn't get that their name is supposed to sound like Party. The people working there were really nice and helped me decide what to order. It's really tiny location so good here isn't really much room to sit. Really yummy bubble tea. And the cup was so cute.

Yelp
If I could give extra stars here, I would - PaTea has come up the ranks to be one of my favorite bubble tea shops in Manhattan (please open one in midtown). Definitely love the fact that they give you a free upgrade to the cute stubby cup when you order a large. One of the few bubble tea places in NYC that actually serves mini tapioca! What's good about this place (aside from really nice guys at the register) is that their regular sweetness is NORMAL (i.e. 50%) instead of sickeningly sweet 200% that's marketed as 100% (where I tend to order 25-50% to have a normal drink). I was expecting very sweet 50% drink, but it's very nice and subtle. Another thing I love about this place is that their drinks don't taste like powder. We ordered the black sugar oolong bubble tea @ 50% as well as the red bean milk shake with mini bubbles. The bubble tea was not too sweet at all, and reminded me of a milder and creamier "coffee" flavor (obviously not coffee, but an option for people who want a tea that tastes similar). The red bean milk shake tasted like they literally boiled red beans in sugar and then blended those beans into the drink - super refreshing. Customer service here is also super on point - I walked in the store and was very very hot, so immediately began shedding layers - without me even saying anything, the guy at the register noticed that I looked hot and turned on their AC - so considerate! +1 extra star for that! The decor is also nice and fun - they have two bear mascots (panda and brown). There's also a guy named Raymond who draws really good Pokemon on sticky notes! Insider tip: Check in on yelp to get a free magic straw! Changes color by temperature.
