I'm convinced that Pho Ba Luu, a Vietnamese restaurant on East Main Street, is exactly what is needed in this insane season of sickness. On the tail-end of a COVID quarantine, we are still masking and therefore unable to dine-in any establishment. Third-party delivery services have become our new best friends. Sometimes weary of ordering Pho via delivery, Pho Ba Luu continues to impress.
I'm not a vegetarian, but do like to substitute for other proteins at times. I ordered the Vegetarian Pho because the tofu is marinated to my liking and lemongrass is always appealing when I'm feeling unwell. My husband had Beef Pho, which I opted not to taste, but he was pleased. We shared Shrimp Spring Rolls.
An order of Shrimp Spring Rolls comes with two steamed shrimp rolled in rice paper with vermicelli noodles, lettuce, basil, mint and bean sprouts. It's served with bean sauce or gluten free soy sauce. The Vegetarian Pho (pictured below) has lemongrass marinated tofu with carrot, Napa cabbage and mushrooms in house-made vegetable broth with rice noodles, scallions, white onion and a medley of vegetables and herbs. It includes the expected accruements, bean sprouts, jalapeños, basil, lime, hoisin, and Sriracha sauce (per my request).
I ordered through Uber Eats and, in my opinion, this restaurant is more affordable than similar establishments. Our food was packaged perfectly, fresh, and hot. It was substantial and satisfying. I felt significantly better after eating. I'm not saying it's the cure for COVID, but it's worth giving it go on a cold day, a rainy day, when you have the flu, or just because it's downright delicious.
