Great variety of stones, I was amazed at the amount they have on hand. Absolutely a wonderful shop with friendly staff.

I'm a healer and I stopped by Moonlight Gemstones on the way back from Big Bend and it was my favorite crystal/gem store I've ever been to! I felt there was more ethically sourced gems as they were all labeled with location and some the owner has found himself and there were a lot of local gems! I bought a couple that were actually from alpine & marfa and I loved that they were local and I could connect more deeply with the land here and support more environmentally-friendly methods :) I loveee this shop and can't wait to come back

Google
I LOVED IT HERE! So many beautiful gemstones. Inside and outside. All sizes, and sold by the pound. The owners were very nice. They were very knowledgeable of all the gemstones. 💎 I’ll be back!

Paul made this incredible bolo tie with my resin scorpion. It was so fun to collaborate with a master craftsman. He made this in just two days knowing I had to return to Fort Worth. Excellent service, impeccable quality. Highly recommend. Thanks again, Paul!

A great rock and gem shop. The proprietor is friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are very good. Always worth a stop when in Marfa.

Yelp
We drove up and down the main drag in Marfa (Hwy 90) and noticed people at this store several times. We parked in the snow and went in where it was nice and warm. Beautiful minerals and great stuff in natural and polished forms.

Yelp
Worth the trip to Marfa alone. I've been here every trip from houston. Huge rocks for a price per pound, and very affordable

Yelp
I first visited Moonlight Gemstones in early September 2024, when I visited Marfa on a work project. My son and I have returned twice since then. Moonlight offers a wide selection of items, including many different types of rocks and gems. Some items are in their natural state and others are polished or have been sculpted into figures. My son loves collecting gemstones and has enjoyed our visits. I have purchased something each visit and find their customer service to be excellent and their prices are highly competitive. I am now a regular customer and highly recommend a visit particularly for those with an interest in gems.

Yelp
Moonlight Gemstones is one of the best rock shops I've ever been in, and definitely one of the two best in the West Texas area. Paul Graybill, the owner, is kind and friendly and happy to answer questions. He has a great selection of local minerals as well as minerals and crystals from around the world--and he is very knowledgeable! There's no fake "aura quartz" here--these are the real deal. Paul also makes beautiful jewelry, and you can pick out a cabochon and have him set it for you. Be sure to check outside as he has huge flats of great rocks and minerals that won't fit in the store. He packs everything carefully for the trip home. Moonlight Gemstones is an absolute Must to visit every time we're in the area.

Yelp
How does this jerk get such good reviews? In 2017 my wife and 2 girls went into his shop. I was the first one in, and the first thing I heard was "Do you belong to a cult?". He was unfriendly the whole time we were there. At one point, in the next room, I quietly told my daughters that I thought the price of what they were interested in was too high. The owner then told us rather loudly " If you don't like the prices you can leave". After we left my wife said that his rudeness and grumpyness may have been a response to the MAGA hat I was wearing.

Yelp
Great rock shop, with both raw and polished stones. Paul was super knowledgeable, generous with his time, and not bothered by all our questions. We picked up some cool geodes, agates, rose quartz, and a fabulous chunk of rainbow fluorite.

Yelp
Really cool store with a great selection. The kids loved it. The owner (I think his name was Paul) was very knowledgeable and helpful. You should definitely check it out when you're in Marfa.

Yelp
Full disclosure: my husband is a nerd. He likes rock shops. A lot. Seven days in West Texas, and I think we visited five or six rock shops. This was the best. Not only did they have a store cat, but even I thought their rocks were interested (you don't know me, but this is unusual - usually I can't be bothered to look at rock shops). This is a great store. Stop in and then walk across the street for lunch at Food Shark (a food truck serving up great falafel and other Mediterranean food).

Yelp
Found small cute crystals here when we first got into town. Wish I would of waited, don't get me wrong the crystals I purchased were beautiful but discovered were over priced after visiting another shop. Maybe they are more authentic, not sure.

Yelp
This is a cute little shop! There's so much to look at and the owners are super nice and incredibly knowledgeable. He talked a bit with my boyfriend about some minerals. It had some expensive gifts, but also a few inexpensive trinkets that would make a good souvenir. For anyone into minerals and gems I recommend this place.

Yelp
We are a rock-loving family. So when we came across this little store while driving around Marfa, we had to stop for a closer look. This place is well worth a visit. It's crammed with geodes, agates, jaspers, minerals, petrified fossils, you name, it's probably here. They also have the mysterious and beautiful peanut agate from the local region... did you know, there's no theory on how it's formed? If nothing else, this alone almost forces you to believe in a higher power. My daughter bought a knob of dogtooth calcite. It's cool but bizarre, like a geologist's version of a pale lavender coloured baby porcupine. Her brother decided on a polished black rock with an orthoceras in it (an ancient, squid-like creature). Also cool but bizarre. Definitely the most interesting souvenirs of West Texas I've encountered.

Yelp
Love this place! So many beautiful stones and custom jewelry at great prices. I would definitely recommend

Yelp
This was exactly the kind of shop I wanted to see in West Texas. A little place packed tight with everything from polished cabochons to "Texas Egg" geodes to giant shark teeth. They had a great selection and the shop owner was friendly and extremely knowledgable. He also does custom jewelry and will ship anywhere, which is pretty cool. It was a little pricey in my opinion, but hey, it's Marfa. I ended up buying a gorgeous fist-sized periwinkle geode for $25. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Moonlight gemstones. They showed me how to cut rocks, and strung the pendant I bought onto a necklace. They showed me everything and where it came from. Definitely my favorite store in town!

Yelp
I LOVE my earrings from Moonlight Gemstones. I found this little shop when I was in Marfa to visit the Judd compound. There is nothing more beautiful that Marfa agate in my opinion - so I started with a pair of agate earrings. I have since begun enlarging my collection with more agate earrings, as well as lapis lazuli and jade. I get compliments on the, everywhere I go! The craftsmanship is very beautiful and do justice to the stones.

Yelp
Eh. I was disappointed when I came here. If you are in Marfa and a fan of rocks its a place to see but you probably won't find anything you want. Things were a bit over priced too.. and the guy behind the counter was a bit creepy and didn't say anything.. made me feel awkward. Sorry, I really wanted to like this place.

Yelp
Very nice spot. Paul is very sweet and very knowledgable. My wife is going to be happy when I get home.

Yelp
This place was too cool!!!! It's not like I'm a geologist, but there were some really rad rocks. Rare, colorful, weird shapes, they had it all. I got this awesome blue, orange and green rock from Moracco. It was like $60, but it was an memorable souvenir. You can definitely find cheaper stuff, or things for like $2000 if you roll like that.

Yelp
Came here after noticing it on a previous trip and really enjoyed the shop. It's a great place to just browse around all of the beautiful gemstones and fossils. We probably spent 45 minutes perusing and I walked out with a small ammonite and a small bit of peacock ore. My girlfriend left with a good amount of small gemstones for $15 after he reduced it from $20. Although I'm no rock expert, this place seemed pricier than the other rock shops we've stopped at but he has a great selection and is nice enough.

Yelp
A true treasure chest. We read about this place in PaperCity and it was not a disappointment. The owner, Paul, was also very kind. Every price point available.
