Google
By far the BEST Tom Yum and Khao Soi in the Portland area. Spicy, flavorful and great portions. The Yellow Curry and Basil Fried rice are excellent as well. The server is kind and friendly. I go out of my way to eat here.

I went with some friends to have a lunch and the place is nice, the service was good, and the food was super delicious. I also ordered a very delicious iced chai coffee. I recommend this place if you want some delicious Thai food.

Upon first walking into this place you're placed in a weird interim area where they have placed plastic folding tables to keep people from going into the dining area? I rang the bell to get service and someone came somewhat promptly. Sat me and shortly asked if I was ready. I wasn't, which there was no issue with. I asked when ordering if I could get some food for my friends to go once im done. She insisted I order it now so she that I could pay and she could cook the food. Slightly inconvenient for me, as I was planning on texting them and asking what they wanted. But it was mostly fine honestly and I get it. So I just got them 3 things that looked good on the menu. My food arrives and noticeably it is very, very watery. There is still some decent spices kicking around in there but just awful meat and vegetable quality. Seriously really bad. I continue my meal and cannot help but overhear the only other customer in the place having a very bizarre issue. She isn't being allowed to use the bathroom until she pays for the meal. Clearly this is because the only lady in the store is back there helping with the food if not cooking it entirely herself. She gives her card over expecting to be able to use the restroom, but now has to deal with the payment. Eventually it gets sorted. Overall I just got really weird vibes and treated nor very hospitably. I don't think the lady was that personally rude. Just insanely understaffed. Again, the food was really bad quality as well. Super dry chicken, really watery curry. Not worth going to.

Went in on a Friday night. The place was empty and had absolutely no heating in the dining room. Too cold to eat in, so we ordered out. I ordered chicken pad Thai. Upon opening at home there was a big lump of noodles in the middle of the tray with a few peanuts dumped on one end, and on the other end a small amount of tofu (no chicken!). All very bland and tasteless. Never again!

I come here frequently and the food is always delicious! I love the pineapple fried rice and tofu salad rolls. The folks who work here are always nice and service is quick. The atmosphere is welcoming and authentic, highly recommend!

Google
We found this restaurant on Grubhub and wanted to give it a go because it was close to our house. Well, the food was pretty bad & had no flavor. In fact, it was the worse Thai I ever had. How can any Thai restaurant mess up a yellow curry dish??? Don’t waste your money.

Google
Ordered vegetable Massaman curry. Extremely watery, and a tiny quantity of vegetables for $16. I got maybe 3 pieces of potato, and mostly cabbage. The flavors are good, but I'm severely disappointed by this meal. I see that others also got runny curry, so this isn't a one-off. If you like soupy curry and don't eat much, this might be your place. Otherwise, the other Thai places in the area serve great, filling curry.

Google
The food looked good but terrible customer service. I found a piece of metal in the food and when I told the staff there was no apology, no interest in seeing what fell in the food, and instead I was yelled at when I departed. They need to check their practices and learn about customer service.

Yelp
Had the chicken Tom Yum Noodle Soup & it was delicious! I had the place to myself too so I appreciated the quiet environment to enjoy my meal. Service was quick as well. Gave me a bell to ring if I needed anything. Definitely plan on coming back when I'm in the area.

Yelp
We ordered the spicy "basil" fried rice, which had literally no basil in it. There were also no vegetables other than onion. You have to pay extra for protein. As a vegetarian, I was excited to be able to add soy chicken, despite it being an additional $4. We literally counted 6 pieces of soy chicken in the entire carton. The flavor was decent, which is the only reason it gets a second star, but not worth the $21.50 we paid (with tip) for this dish.

Yelp
oh no! Got our order wrong, the place was freezing ! she brought over a space heater- didn't help much. The pad Thai was ALL noodles. hardly any sauce or peanuts.

Paula S.

Yelp
Loved this place. It was quite empty and Serena the owner was on point with service, friendliness and the food was delicious. We had the chicken satay, the spring rolls. Pad Kee Mow (beef) and the Tom yum noodle. Which I ordered as a 2 and it was toooo spicy. Serena took it back and fixed it up smiling the entire time. Refreshing. Definitely will visit again. #hiddengemportland #thaiportland

Yelp
I have to imagine that anything less than 5 stars is just due to decor and the "Chinese food yelp effect" cause HOT DAMN! We went in and had some amazing pad Thai and fried rice. Portions were generous, service was quick and friendly, and the prices were more than fair. The flavor and texture on the fried rice was absolutely perfect. I can't wait for the next time I get to stop in and enjoy a meal!

Yelp
I ordered two dishes and both were very meh, bland, didn't have a lot of flor or seem very Fresh, crab meat smelled and tasted very fishy which makes me think it's not fresh as well- disappointed

Yelp
Best drunken noodles I've ever had in my life. Everything else was good. One woman running the whole show, kudos to her

Sasha S.

Yelp
WOW! Most amazing experience! Went in today in a bit of a rush and left in almost 5 minutes! Food was absolutely delicious, generous, and fresh. Good service, would 100% recommend. I'll go back soon:) Ordered an order of Pad See Ew with beef ($16.95) and it was all three of my meals today! Yummm. It's definitely a take-out place, but I'm not too sure about the ambiance because the restaurant portion is decided by a wall. :-)

Yelp
Delicious! Veggie options are wonderful. Great owners! Small pocket of a gem. We are lucky to live so close

Yelp
Nightmare!! Service from the women owner, She was so aggressive, Just asked for extra sauce and I'd love to pay for it but she said bad word and yelled at me and my friend. Food was dried and plain, Ambiance was okay, not fancy. Don't go!!!

Yelp
HIDDEN GEM ON KILLINGSWORTH. The food is wonderful, my favorite pad Thai in the city. It has a spiciness that is slightly delayed, not too overpowering, and 100% delightful. The take out pad Thai is also big enough for two meals. Great deal. But my favorite part about Moonlight is the staff. I order pickup and every time I'm in there, they are so kind and helpful.

Vivi L.

Yelp
I have been here frequently and I have enjoyed the service and food every time! Never fails to make me feel comfortable and relaxed. Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. I absolutely love the Pad Thai! Very affordable for restaurant quality food! Lovely owners.

Omar S.

Yelp
The best Thai place in Portland. The food was incredibly flavorful and the service was great. The cook is so sweet and super friendly!! I had the pad see ew and it was the most flavorful pad see ew I've ever had and this isn't an exaggeration!

Jo Jo M.

Yelp
I don't understand these one star reviews. I think they might have been given by racists. I popped in here for lunch and ordered the Pad See Ew. It was amazing! Go here and support a hard working minority family business!

Carissa B.

Yelp
Delicious! Veggie options are wonderful. Great owners! Small pocket of a gem. We are lucky to live so close!

Yelp
I really am angry to see any less than 4/5 star reviews for this place. The people who work here are kind, extremely hard working, and the essence of community. I am so lucky to live in this neighborhood because I've gotten to know the staff and let their food nourish me whenever I need it. This is real small business; delicious food, humble people, perfectly imperfect.

Joe H.

Yelp
Sarina has the most flavorful food I've found, not just Thai, food. This is a one woman operation with real, in depth cooking. I suggest her soups, wonderful complex creations. She will make sure that you are happy with her food. You can order online, but I would suggest that you come in and have a sit-down and get to know her, a most amazing woman.

Lakeitha E.

Yelp
The male server (who has been there forever ) was nice and brought us some good cold mango juice . Then the Asian woman came over to take our order / tell us to make sure we are going to like what we order and know what we are ordering and basically not to order anything we weren't sure about because she's had too many "African's " come in and not like the food and not want to pay or who complained and sent food back so, now she's afraid ( of us African's I guess), she did her little innocent look and said she just wanted to be honest and to just make sure we were gonna like whatever we ordered . We definitely didn't order . ‍‍ We went next door to the Hawaiian s& Indian restaurant .

Yelp
Hair in my food. HUGE disappointment!!!! Will be looking for another thai restaurant.

Yelp
Best Thai on the west coast! I love the pad ka pow and the yellow curry. Service is always quick and professional.

Jenny J.

Yelp
Just don't. Don't eat this food. It is, hands down, the worst food we've ever had, yet take out from a Thai restaurant. The Pad Thai was mushy with a few greyish overcooked pieces of broccoli and anemic unflavored Tofu that seemed like it came directly out of a tofu package and into the dish. The flavor was oddly sweet, tasting nothing like Pad Thai. The second dish was equally terrible. Soup. It looked like wan dishwater, with, again, very few ingredients. It was flavorless. This food was inedible, and we are hardy eaters that will eat just about anything to avoid waste. They have no business selling this as food. Just don't go.

Kate A.

Yelp
Three stars for nice workers, but food is 0 star. The only thing I was enjoying eating was papaya salad. Sorry can't recommend:(

Yelp
Moonlight is mere blocks from where I live. I love Thai cuisine and good Thai food is abundant in Portland. There are a number of stellar Thai restaurants within a mile or less from my neighborhood. With so many amazing experiences I have almost come to expect a quality base line level for Thai food in this city as there is so much competition. I love many exotic Thai dishes but lately I have been a little more basic, craving/eating pineapple fried rice. It is an easy enough dish but there are many who go above and beyond by using fresh ingredients and adding their own style to the dish. So the other day during a craving I went into moonlight to order a carry out container of pineapple fried rice. The service was fine, no complaints about that at all. I was told it would be ready in 15-20 minutes so I walked home and came back in that time frame. When I returned the food was ready! I was impressed with this. E When I got home I couldn't wait to dig in, so imagine my disappointment when I opened my container only to find a pile of mushy rice with some very sad chicken on it, a few cashews and a few mushy sprigs of broccoli on it. That was it! That's all there was in the container, not a single solitary shred of pineapple to be found. No other veggies, no other ingredients whatsoever. Just a gob of mushy rice, a few pieces of over cooked broccoli, some sad gross trimmings of chicken breast, and a few cashews. No other sauces or anything. My 8 year olds son could have made this dish. There is no excuse for what I was sold. It did not even resemble the classic dish we expect when ordering pineapple fried rice. Effort would be required to fail this miserably. As such, I will not be spending any more money at this establishment for fear of receiving other sad presentations of classic dishes. There are far too many other amazing Thai options in the neighborhood to risk my dollars at Moonlight.

Yelp
It's a no from me! This is the crab wontons, see something missing? This is literally a pocket of air....how did you let this leave your restaurant? Thanks for the $8 air wonton

James B.

Yelp
The food is terrible the service is worse when I ask for a refund the restaurant totally refused I highly recommend you do not eat at this place

Peyton S.

Yelp
The food was very mediocre. I tried two different dishes and they were just very bland. I also got a Thai tea with boba, the boba was and extra dollar and there was barely any in it. The bobas were also very hard. The dishes are also priced very high for the amount of food you get which is unfortunate. They had good salad rolls but it's hard to mess up salad rolls.

Clint B.

Yelp
Moonlight Thai is so so great. The food is amazing and the owners are very nice. If ur vegan or vegetarian this is the Thai spot for u. They offer soy or meatless options in a variety of options I've never seen anywhere else. They have fake beef, fake chicken, and even fake shrimp. I've tried several of them and I'm a huge fan. Good job Moonlight!! Keep up the good work.

Yelp
Super disappointing. We found this place because of it's 5-star review on Google, so I have to weigh in that this place sucks. We ordered three entrees for three people that required rice, and they gave us one tiny container of rice - so we ended up having to cook dinner for ourselves anyway, which defeats the point of take-out. Also, the vegetable beef stir-fry was mostly cabbage, with like two tiny pieces of broccoli and barely any meat. The yakisoba was ok, but small portions and barely any chicken. And our Massaman curry was watery and had no taste, which I guess was fine because we didn't have any rice to put it over anyhow. Very annoying. Oh, but they did appear to spend a lot of money on very sturdy plastic to-go containers. Thanks, but we'd rather have the actual food ingredients. We won't be going back.
