I live 15 minutes from Dormont but embarrassingly have yet to go to that Moonlit Burgers location. Today I was stopping by Duquesne, my alma mater, and took advantage of the opportunity to stop in here. I didn't have much time after my visit to the Bluff to get back to work Downtown, so ordered my food to go. I ordered the veggie burger, which I knew would be similar to their famous smash patties, and some shoestring fries. Unfortunately the phone number for my order was put into the system incorrectly so I didn't get notified when it was finished, and was probably sitting there waiting a good 10 extra minutes before someone finally asked me what I was waiting on. My order had been ready behind the counter for quite some time, which didn't only make me later getting back to work but also made my fries cold. I have to detract a star for those things, and the fries weren't that notable cold, though perhaps I should've heated them up in the microwave when I got back to work to get a better idea of what they are like hot. I'm still giving this experience four stars because the veggie burger was that good. Two thin smash patties, and I have no idea what they are using to make them but it's delicious. I am not normally a fan of the impossible type of burgers, preferring vegetable-based patties -- but whatever they are using for these plant-based burgers, or maybe it's just the thinness, gets it just right. The Martin's potato roll is delicious, the griddled onions are delicious, the cheese, the kosher dills, the signature moon sauce. It is a top veggie burger in the city. They also have Millie's ice cream, cocktails and lots of space for groups. I wish this had been here when I was going to Duquesne. I will be back, and likely will make a point of visiting the Dormont location soon to try some hot fries!
