Moonrise Hotel

Loved this hotel. Spotlessly clean and in a good state of repair. The reception was a bit spotty - one of the hosts was great, full of information and the other, hmmm, less so. Our room was opposite the elevator and I was woken at 3am by loud guests in the hallway so my suggestion is - when you get your room, ask to be placed away from the elevators. Also there was free parking behind the hotel, but because of a concert nearby, the lot was completely filled up. The neighborhood was great and we had an excellent BBQ dinner at a restaurant nearby.

I left a much more expensive chain hotel downtown to come to moonrise. And it was the best decision for the remainder of my trip, the room and room features for superior in every way. It's on Delmar and by Forest Park which is just a great vibe and things are walkable. Highly recommend staying here even if you're in town for the Enterprise Center. It's worth the drive

Stayed at the Moonrise Hotel and had a great experience overall. The hotel has a fun, modern vibe and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well laid out. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location is excellent—walkable to great food, drinks, and music venues. The only minor downside was parking being a bit full due to shows at The Pageant, but that’s understandable given how close the hotel is to everything. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and I’d definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful experience! The hotel was clean and the theming was fantastic! The staff was so welcoming and helpful. We had an excellent view of the immediate area, which has great business signs and neon to create a great vibe. The rooftop bar was a wonderful way to spend the late evening under the open sky. The location is excellent, with many unique businesses and bars/restaurants available close by. We had a beeping smoke detector, which the hotel fixed within minutes of our arrival. Overall, we cannot wait to stay here again!

So convenient for staying the night after a show at the pageant next door. Nice room. We had a king room that was nice. Comfortable bed. The chaise lounge in the room could use a good cleaning, but everything else was good. Towels were bright white and fluffy. They have a hair dryer and a make up towel in the room. We were in the 7th floor right below the bar. It wasn't quiet, but not loud either. There was a nose machine in the room that worked to down that out well enough for me with ocean sounds. I liked that you needed to use a key card to use the elevator. We found parking around the back of the hotel at no additional cost. Lots of places to eat in walking distance. Didn't get to try strange donuts, but Katsaya was a nice place for dinner. Adult vibes for this hotel.

Aside from the bed in room 310 being broken and sunken in on one side and the toilet smelling like sewer water, we really enjoyed our stay! Place was very clean and convenient location with great parking and walking distance to venues and restaurants. Definitely will be a regular spot for us from now on!

I loved staying here. We only had one night in town for a concert at the Pageant on 12/6 to see Foxing. Andre took excellent care of checking us in early. We were so glad. We set our bags in the room, and had breakfast at the restaurant. I had the biscuits and gravy. So yum. My boyfriend had the traditional breakfast, he said the bacon was perfect. Our waitstaff were pleasant. :). The beds were super comfy, the pillows perfectly plush yet firm. I slept like a baby. The rain shower was magnificent with awesome water pressure, the shower amenities were luxurious and smelled amazing. The make up remover towelettes are incredible. I drink coffee all day, and I saw a turn down service staff member and asked for extra coffee and creamer for the room. She happily obliged. When we left for the afternoon, they had Mr and Mrs Clause available for pictures with your puppies. While ours doesn't fly with us, we will definitely keep it in mind if we drive through! I loved all the decorations for the holiday as well as the attention to detail of the space and moon theme. There's an art and care taken in the arrangements of each whimsical shelf that you can't help but smile cheerfully. We checked out the roof top view and saw the Arch in the distance, though still a little hazy in the morning. We definitely plan on returning to St Louis since we have friends in the area, I will definitely make it my first choice to book. It was easy access taking the Metrolink from the airport.

Stayed her December 12th 2025 to see the ho ho ho rizzuto show at the pageant! This place is right next door. Super friendly staff, clean and cool vibe. Comfortable bed. Room was awesome!

This is a really cool boutique hotel in a really cool area of St. Louis. The decor is amazing. Be prepared, Missouri has legal weed, so it is pretty prevalent on the sidewalks and parking lots.

We stayed here a few weeks ago, and while I thought the hotel was fantastic, decor, location and all, the parking was impactful. Upon booking on Expedia, it stated that parking was free;however, this isn't completely accurate. The hotel's actual parking is valet parking, and they really push this. The reason why? There are a lot of undesirables in the area that break into cars and most of the free parking is in dark areas, away from the hotel. Fortunately, the guy in charge of parking spotted a nearby free spot, so that was good. We were lucky to not need to park anywhere else since we just stayed for one night and walked everywhere we needed to be.

I stayed a night at the Moonrise Hotel and overall had a good experience. The area this place is located is one of the trendier parts of St. Louis, although--I did have trouble finding good coffee within a short walk of the hotel, which seems slightly problematic for a trendier area. Nonetheless, the hotel has a fun futuristic vibe full of LED lighted stairs, a rooftop, and all sorts of cool little trinkets. There were little fruits/snacks upon checking in, which was neat. The bed was comfortable and there was Starbuck coffee pods as well, although the front desk seemed to have some issues providing more when asked (they mentioned they only had decaf handy). All in all though, it was a comfortable stay for a night in St. Louis and I'd recommend it. I did think it was weird that it was more expensive to book direct than through a third party and I would have loved if the front desk would have matched third party pricing so I could book direct! (I walked in and asked how much a room would be and they named a price that was more expensive than what third party sites were showing), so they just said to book on the third party site...and that was a little strange to me!

Very cute kitschy hotel with moon-themed decor through-out! I stayed here based on booking thru Bring-Fido (I was traveling with 2 dogs). I love that they use NEST toiletries (delicious orange scent). GREAT ROOFTOP!! Such a nice vibe, and the giant rotating moon is also iconic. All dog accommodations are on the 4th floor, so it is possible you will hear other dogs barking. The walls are kinda thin. There was a person screaming in the hallway at 1:45am and it woke up some other dogs on the floor and it was too late for there to be that much noise and barking, but I just turned on the air and that dulled a lot of noise out. If I happen to be back in StLouis, I will come back here! Free and easy parking in a lot behind the hotel. Just keep driving thru the valet area.

Hotel Review 2.5/5 Man this is a hard review to write. Let me start off by saying that I am a huge fan of Joe Edwards, the mastermind behind Moonrise Hotel and many of the other businesses keeping the vibe and culture of The Loop alive. I'm a St. Louis native and remember when Moonrise first opened. Moonrise is a very cool, retro-futuristic, space/moon-themed boutique hotel that has always marketed itself as being on the nicer end of the spectrum. This was THE place to go when this place first opened in the early-20-teens. This was one of the few nice rooftop bars in town and the rooftop was always packed and thriving. Because of the unique lobby, the cool rainbow lit staircase, the rotating moon on the roof, and its cool concept for a boutique hotel, this was the hottest place in town at that time. Fast forward to present day, 10-15 years after its opening, as with everything in life, things tend to change.... I stayed here last week, and this was my first time actually staying at the hotel. I'm struggling with writing this review as my mind is juggling between the memories that I have of what this hotel once was, understanding the ideal of what this hotel is trying to be, and now knowing in present day what this hotel has become. While the aesthetics of this hotel are very nice, sadly the execution of this place in terms of cleanliness is severely lacking. (Seriously, give the interior design team a raise because they did a great job designing this hotel!) Upon first arriving to my room, I checked the bedding as I always do when staying at a hotel. I pulled back a tucked flat/top sheet, and noticed A LOT OF STAINS all over the fitted sheet. Like, a lot! Like, throw this thing away and buy a new fitted sheet! Are you guys washing these sheets at all? Or can you just not get the sheets clean? The solution they chose for this was to hide this sheet under a top/flat sheet. I noticed that this bedding ultimately has a fitted sheet, a top sheet tucked to cover the dirty fitted sheet, another top sheet to use as cover, a thin quilt/comforter, and a topper/duvet-esque layer. Seriously people, buy a new fitted sheet! While disgusted with the bedding issue, I thought that this was where my disenchantment with the room would end. I was so wrong. When I first went to bathroom in my room, I could tell that the shower floor wasn't as clean as it could be. It seemed to have permanent discoloration on the floor. I thought, "well that's a shame but it's a nearly 10-year-old hotel so what can ya do?" Then I had my first actual shower... Upon walking up to the shower, I saw that there was a clump of blond hair on the floor in the corner of the shower. GROSS! Then I looked at the opposite corner of the floor and noticed a clump of pink sludge (I seriously don't know what it was, I just knew that it was disgusting!). There were also black flecks near it. I don't know if they were dead small bugs or just motes of debris. I took a hand towel and wiped up all of these things. As I did this, I noticed that some of the dirt was coming off from the floor of the shower. I didn't apply any pressure or soap/cleaner. Bottom line was that the shower had not been cleaned AT ALL!!!! DISGUSTING!!!! It's bizarre considering the rest of the room, seemed cleaned. The floors were clean. There wasn't anything in the mini fridge or trashcan. It was just the shower hadn't been cleaned, and the fitted sheet, of course. This is a problem. Your quick fix for the dirty bedding is one big strike, but an unclean shower is a whole other level of dirty. There are only two main things in a hotel room where you distinctly want to make sure it's clean - the bed because you lay there, and the shower/bath because you wash yourself there. You can ultimately avoid the other surfaces of the room aside from the floor, sink, and toilet. This comes down to being a housekeeping and management issue. As nice as the furniture, decor, theme, service, and colors of this hotel are, if the place isn't clean, then no one will want to stay here. Again, this makes me sad as I love the vision that Mr. Edwards had for this hotel. Without proper management and upkeep with cleaning, this place will never be as great as it could potentially be, or as it once was. Based on this experience, I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend someone else stay here. I really hope that changes are made so that this hotel can get back to the level that it once promoted itself as being 15 years ago when it opened. How truly disappointing.

What a wacky theme- but I'm here for it. Found right in the loop of St Louis, this was a perfect place to stop on our road trip. Very comfy- and dog friendly! Free and easy parking and many places to walk to for food and fun.

We chose this hotel based on its location. That did not disappoint. Nor did the kitschy moon theme throughout. In our room, multiple items were broken: the stopper in the sink, the TP holder, the shower grate, and the handle in the bathroom door (it would just fall out). During our entire visit, the beds were made with the flat sheets on TOP of the comforters. This was done for five days. Despite having a number of housekeeping staff people, dirty dishes and glasses were left outside in hallways and common areas for over 24 hours. The ice/vending machine room had stains in various places. When it came to the front desk staff, most were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The Friday, Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday folks were lovely. They greeted everyone who came and went, asked for if they could be of assistance, etc. On Sunday evening, there were two young white women who could not be troubled to look up from their phones for any reason whatsoever. That evening, I had an issue with a GrubHub delivery, which was not their fault. Their response was very rude and shady though. They told me that another hotel guest had taken my food and that I should "take theirs if it looks good", and then reorder mine. After communicating with GrubHub, I went upstairs and called back down to see if my order had been returned. It had and the young woman on the phone said that the other guest "looked grossed out" and put it back. (It was Ethiopian food.). Terrible customer service and very culturally insensitive to say the least. Overall, I would say that it was fair. If you're a family that likes walkability, maybe keep looking.

Basically my take on this hotel is it's not my cup of tea. There is an audience for everything and I know there is an audience for this establishment but it's my fault for not doing a deeper dive into this hotel. It got to the point where we cut our 2 night stay short by a day. The decor both interior and exterior is kitschy and themed around old school spaceships. There is a light up stairwell great for social media pics. The room itself is ok. I wonder what this property was before but it feels like an semi upscale La Quinta type of property. Honestly I'm kinda surprised this made a few lists of best hotels in St Louis. I also saw somewhere this is a 4 star hotel. No it's not as it's more like a 3 or 3.5 star type hotel. So either you can park yourself or use the complimentary valet (which left early Saturday night at 10p). If you do park yourself if not even a 40-50 yard distance from the hotel entrance. Do your research before you stay here and if it's your cup of tea go for it. I should've known since it was moderately priced per night.

The rooftop was closed for a private event but we called the night before and informed them we we coming and the hostess didn't covey this important information as that's the reason we were going for the rooftop. The food was okay and because of the price I would expect more. The drinks were good. The ambience was beautiful and upscale. I probably won't go back for the food but may revisit for drinks.

We came here before a comedy show at The Pageant on Saturday! We ubered to The Loop so we wouldn't have to worry about parking. We walked in a debated going to Eclipse or the rooftop, but ultimately decided the rooftop. When we got up there, there was a bit of a line to the bar, but realized there were two bartenders. It seemed that they designated one half of the bar for each, so we hopped up to the front of the right side. The bartender was helpful, and I ordered two orders of turkey nachos, two beers, and a club with lime. She gave us a number and we went and stood at one of the bar tables that is attached to a column. We ultimately got to sit down when another table left, but would love more indoor seating, as they weren't wildly busy! My turkey nachos were good and different. It was turkey confit, cranberries, and jalapeño/ sage ranch on sweet potato chips. Definitely the most different kind of nachos I've had! They were super filling, and I was happy to get some protein in while splurging :) Others in my group ordered the truffle fries (loved them- they were my favorite) and crispy Brussels sprouts. They came with a very clovey like sauce, which wasn't bad- just very strong! It was a great, convenient spot to grab something before The Pageant. No massive wait lines, over crowding, or food wait times. I'm excited for the patio to open once it gets warmer out!

This hotel used to be very cool and my favorite place to stay. I have stayed here on about 7 or 8 occasions when seeing something at the Pageant. It was great until last year, when my room was not clean. I chalked it up to being a fluke, although certainly annoying as it was a suite and not cheap. This time I requested the room we always stay in when making the reservation. And this time we did not get it and the desk guy was really rude about it "we tried." And he said this suite was the same as the one reserved. It is not. It is much smaller. No refund. No discount. Plenty of other options to spend entertainment dollars in St Louis.

Very nice hotel. Our dog was doted on by the staff. The bed was one of the best I've ever slept in. The shower was huge! The onsite restaurant was just ok. I didn't get to try the rooftop bar. Location is really interesting.

Made a booking for 2 nights via Booking.com for a King room as it was next door to the Ludo concert venue that brought us to St Louis. I called the week before we arrived to confirm the booking just to make sure and all was OK. We caught a taxi from the airport as we arrived late at 9pm due to delays and storms and it cost an eyewatering $50. Uber was going to cost the same. (It is much cheaper if you go to/from the airport early in the day without surcharges). On arrival we were welcomed and booked straight in without a problem and the invoice was exactly as stated by Booking.com, apart from a $50 incidental charge which they don't run if you don't use it. Our room on the 4th floor overlooked the front street, but it has a white sound machine which we played at night and all we heard was the soothing sounds of waves on the shore and no street noise. The bed was a good King, nice TV, mini fridge, shower with plenty of clean towels, ice bucket, safe and plenty of space in the room. It was cleaned immaculately and we put out the sticker saying we wanted to keep our towels to reuse to save water. There are toilets behind the reception area if you need backup ;) There are a lot of restaurants and coffee shops in the area within walking distance plus a grocery store and drug store a very short walk up the street so you have everything you need at hand. We bought wine to keep in the fridge for night time tipples. The hotel is funky and the neon stairs at night are great for photos. We didn't get up to the roof bar as we were out at night and it was raining. We did visit the hotel bar facing the front street and I had a perfect Negroni made with flair by the barman. He also created a delicious mocktail for my daughter. It is situated in the university district and felt very safe walking around. Highly recommend Salt n Smoke BBQ joint a short walk up the road, the Blick Art shop on the opposite side, and Skaldi's Coffee on Skinker which is also walkable. The coffee shop is opposite a big park if you want to stretch your legs after a long flight. Yes, we found the hotel a bit pricey, but it was perfect for our needs and nearly everyone visiting St Louis for the Ludo concert weas staying in the hotel that weekend so it was party central in the elevator and reception area, with everyone discussing lyrics and signing.

Overall an OK stay. The biggest downfall was that the room was NOT fully clean and there was nothing done to mitigate the discomfort. As you can see in the photos they really only half cleaned to space so it looks ok in photos. There was a hair in the robe, stain in the sheets, dust and dirt everywhere. When asked for a discount, there was NO effort given to improve my stay. On the other hand, beside providing help in improving my stay, the staff was nice. Rooftop was conveniente, but all the sofas were dirty and run down like the chair in the photo. Overall, an ok stay if you want a cheap quick trip, but if you are a stickler for cleanliness I DO NOT recommend.

Order: two old.fashion Pros: the roof is amazing! The drinks are not bad but it's really about the roof and the view here. Cons: one of the drinks was sweet but the other was pretty good!

So I met up with my cousin who was staying at the Moonrise Hotel on a Tuesday night. I've been there before earlier this year when my cousin was in town before and dined on the rooftop which view is to die for and so we're the Jerk Wings. That night it was cold and we still went to that floor but into an indoor section, the Eclipse Restaurant and Lounge. I wasn't drinking alcohol that night but wanted something nice to drink with my cousin while she ate. I asked the bartender what types of Mocktails she could make and she asked me what I normally liked and I got a custom drink that was very tasty. It had orange juice and piñata and was super refreshing. The cherries that came with it were just alright, I have a preference for maraschinos but whatever. The atmosphere was really nice as well. I can see why my cousin chose a this place each time when she comes in town.

This hotel is funky and cool but the thing I look for most in a hotel is safety and that's where my rating drops a few stars. Moonrise Hotel is in a cool area on Delmar Loop "The Loop" surrounded by restaurants. The parking for the hotel is in a lot behind it and then you cross through an alley to get to the door. There were random people outside just standing around and would watch you walk into the hotel which made me uncomfortable and I was with my husband, I definitely wouldn't stay here alone. The walls are really thin, we could hear someone's alarm in the next room going off at 5:30 am and music from the bars on the loop. That being said, it is really cool inside. They really leaned into the "moon" theme in a fun way in the lobby, hallways, rooms, etc. I wouldn't stay here again just for the safety and thin walls but if you do, I would stay with a group or at least one other person.

How does getting robbed sound? How does being threatened by the AG sound? How about having your reservation changed then moment you show up and then being charged for a room you never actually checked into sound? If this sounds good, the Moonrise is your place. My wife and I booked the Moonrise because their website says they have a car charger on site. It states that when you're done, just be kind and move your car. We were totally good with that. We got in town, went to see her mom, and came to the hotel at 8pm. We asked where the chargers were, and they said it was in the front of the hotel. When we asked to have the Porsche moved from the one spot with a charger, we were told we needed to pay 20$ to use the charger. We said that this wasn't on the website, and we weren't going to pay for it. We then asked to talk to the manager, were told that this valet was the boss, and then he went in to get his 'AG' to talk with us. When the AG came out, he said that this was how the hotel worked. We had to pay to valet the car to use the charger. I said this isn't on the website, and it's nowhere in the disclosures that this is a charge. I was informed that this was the only way "his boys" made money, and that this wasn't a thing he could change. He said the guys had to get paid for us to charge the car. I asked him to pay the 20$ and he said "I can't do that". I informed him he could, and he said it wasn't possible. When I asked why it didn't say anything about the charge on the website, I was informed that he didn't control the website and that 20$ isn't a big deal. I again said that if it's not a big deal, he could pay it, he again said no. He told me that "he's heard that there might or might not be a free charger in an underground lot just three buildings away that we could use". I told him the Moonrise was where we booked a place, not there. He said we could cancel our booking and asked if we'd use a third party site. We had. Expedia. He informed me that we'd have to go through them, but that we were past the 48 hour cancelation time, so it might not work. I then asked him to write up the conversation we had, and he refused saying there was nothing he could do. I then told him that my one superpower was writing, and that he'd certainly hear from me again. He then tried to tell me he was just trying to help, to which I asked how, and he said the underground lot might have or might not have a charger. It was infuriating, and honestly pretty hostile. By the end of the conversation I was fairly shaken. So we left, called Expedia, was informed we'd get a refund for one night because they were charging us for the first night for not showing up. We had shown up, but we were threatened, ignored, and then ripped off. Literally. They fraudulently stole 179$ from us, because we took the one nights refund. We're going to keep pushing to get our money back, but if you have anywhere else to say--a motel around the corner, the public bus station, the library steps before it opens the next morning, do it. This place is quite literally scary, awful, and will rob you.

Our experience on 8/31/24 was horrific. We booked the hotel for the electric car charger. When we arrived, a non-electric car was parked there in the charging space, and when we asked, we were told we had to valet and pay to use the charger. The attendant was awfully rude, as was the "AG." We were in town to visit my dying mother. The AG told us we could go stay in an Airbnb down the street. He was rude, sardonic, and condescending, exacerbating an already traumatic time. It was awful, and we left absolutely shaken and upset.

Cool spot in the Loop with great rooftop bar. Skip breakfast in the restaurant- slow service and mediocre food. Lots of better options in walking distance. Really fun place to stay and inexpensive booking through online sites.

My husband & I stayed at the Moonrise when In opened in 2009 and it was fabulous then and even more fantastic now. There were some similar paintings and lighted staircases, so we recreated our first experience there. Anyhow, the check in experience was smooth and we were impressed by the hospitality and attention to detail. The room was good. We had an awkward view of just over the roof of where you drive up to the check in. But otherwise, we could see Delmar nicely. I picked this hotel because I had an event at Forest Park and it was very conveniently located. I also explored other restaurants & businesses (hello Pin-Up Bowl) on Delmar. Overall this was a great experience!

View is decent, but we ordered two old fashions costing $12 each and this is what we got. Mine was about 2" of liquid and no ice. Each gulp is $6. And they taste bad.

Upon checking in the room had a funky smell from vomit on the floor. The area rug in the living area had little scraps of paper on the rug so it obviously was not vacuumed. Additionally, the couch had lots of crumbs packed into the crevices and stains. Housekeeping was gone when we called the front desk and the wonderful front desk clerk came and personally scrubbed up the vomit. However, that left an awful smell of vomit and harsh chemicals we had to deal with in the bedroom. Additionally, the shower area had not been scrubbed enough to remove a mold/mildew growing. I attempted on several occasions to speak to the manager but was told he was in meetings or unavailable. I sent an email which was not answered and left my number when checking out requesting to be contacted, which also wasn't done. Given the cost of the rooms and prior reviews we hoped for and expected more than what we got.

Dirty room and outdated. When we opened the room door, there was a random man inside? He said he was the engineer? I guess just hanging out on the clock. Nightstand was filthy with stains and dried food. The bathroom walls also had stains. Friendly front desk and great location.

Good location,safe and plenty to do and eat close to hotel. Service not so good. The maid knocked on the door and I asked her to give us 10 minutes. She never came back, when we returned at 2 they said all the maids had gone home. Phone didn't work in our room. Workout room/gym was not very good.

I have been wanting to stay at Moonrise for a while now. We were invited to a birthday party in The Loop and decided to make it a night! I will have to say our experience was lackluster at best. A three star experience at five star prices. And I find the only justification for the high price tag is the convenient location. We arrived at 4pm for check in and pulled into the drive and waited 10 minutes for a valet. I called the front desk and was told there was no valet on duty. The sign on the lot says DO NOT ENTER VALET ONLY. We went to park the car and headed to check in. This has to be the most unremarkable check in experience I've ever had. I was asked my name, for my ID and form of payment, handed a paper to sign and given my room key. There was no hospitality or warmth from the front desk staff. The aesthetic is hipster chic in the lobby, but deteriorates quickly after. The hallways were dark and dimly lit, but not enough to notice peeling wallpaper and worn carpeting. Our room was a dated sunshine yellow reminiscent of a La Quinta with moon themed pictures on the wall. Our bathroom was reasonably spacious, but the shower was the size of a postage stamp. And the sink offered only a smidge of counter space, which is problematic for doing hair and makeup for a night out. The beds were reasonably comfortable and the linens were standard white. We had friends in our party also staying the night. When we met up with them after getting settled, they said they had to move to a new room. When they walked in and turned the lights on there was a roach on the couch. After contacting the front desk, they were offered a new room on a lower floor, and two drink coupons for their trouble. They did not receive an apology for their inconvenience. The only positive interaction came from the night desk clerk Malichai from Zimbabwe. Such a nice guy with a lovely accent. He was hospitable and engaging. I'd be happy to give him a letter of recommendation for promotion to evening desk clerk. Someone with his customer service skills should be the one greeting guests when they arrive or at least be the one training the rest of the staff on the art of customer service.

RUN AWAY!! (or at least drive away!). This hotel has some good reviews, however if you read through them you will see a recurring problem: car break-ins in their parking lot. Our car's window was broken into and items were stolen one night, while parked in the hotel's lot. The "security guard" on duty WITNESSED this happen and did not call the police. Then, the thieves returned again (four guys in ski masks) a few hours later to continue the job, and again, the "security guard" chased them off and did nothing else. When we talked about this with one of the managers, he was very nice to our face, and seemed like he would help us. However, he never responded to our calls or emails after the incident. Eventually, we were given a $25 voucher to get breakfast at the hotel. An employee helped cover our broken window with plastic wrap. That was the extent of the assistance we received there. We paid nearly $200 to have our window replaced before driving home the next day. After the trip, we found that our room had been charged for the "free" breakfast they gave us. We emailed with a different manager for a while and he agreed to refund the cost of the breakfast and one of the nights we stayed. Getting the refund was a mess - it took hours and hours spread out over weeks trying to get it. Reading through the reviews, I can see that car break-ins have happened at LEAST 10 more times since our stay 3 months ago, and the hotel has done nothing to address the issue (yes, it has been 3 months since this happened, but I was waiting to receive my refund before reviewing). Do NOT stay here if you have a vehicle. If you do, you might as well just leave the car doors unlocked so the thieves don't break your windows. The hotel is in a sketchy area. The "valet parking" is a joke. I'm sorry if this review comes off as "Karen-y", but I'm just trying to prevent another person from having to deal with window repair, unexpected costs, stolen items, and extra stress while on vacation. Save yourself the hassle and stay somewhere else.

Beautiful boutique hotel with fun decor and great staff. Centrally located so you can walk around and shop the area. Room was clean and comfortable. The rooftop bar offers a comfortable indoor/outdoor space with beautiful views.

Great hotel, great location, great rooftop! Moon EVERYTHING. The owner also owns a few other businesses around and does a great job at keeping them up to date. The rooms are comfy, styled uniquely and the art and wallpaper vary so it's far from your normal run of the mill hotel. Comfy beds, lots of soft pillows and the AC blows nice and cold. Note that The Pageant is next door; which is a live music venue - so you'll get some noise late night but it's nothing that bothered me. The roof is neat! Fantastic heavy pour drinks and a spinning moon. Twinkle ceiling lights in the Twilight Room and outdoor patio heaters on the uncovered roof - open when weather permits. There are even observation binoculars you can use to see downtown. NOTE: you're not downtown so don't get hyped and then disappoint yourself because you didn't understand that this hotel is only eight floors and in a The Loop, not downtown STL - that disappointment is your own. Lots of seating inside and out and friendly staff and security. Sometimes the roof bars are closed for events- just ask the front desk before heading up, it's easy to do. Dog friendly as well. Free valet parking on most nights! The on-site restaurant is delicious as well. Fantastic hotel and will continually choose Moonrise when traveling through STL.

just left here tonight.... customer service was by far the worst with the bartenders and security guard. approaching this one long chin bartender she already gave me a off vibe with an attitude that was not needed just to get some food before we get drinks; she held my card when i told her that was all for ordering. 30 minutes went pass and she didn't even greet herself with any type of courtesy if she wanted to get tipped she came asking for payment when i already paid. Food: we ordered the burger, nashville calamari and jerk wings. Burger was okay but very huge and they didn't give us knives or napkins for our meals.. calamari was good just a lot of oil mixture in the bottom sauce, jerk chicken was good i guess will tweak up at home.. pretty bummed i forgot to ask for fries.

I only went to the rooftop bar, so I cannot speak for the quality of the hotel. The bar was fine, extremely overrated. The view is not very good, it's just some parking lots, it was very crowded so it was hard to get seats, they didn't have a lot of beer choices so I got a cocktail which was only okay and it took a while for a bartender to help me. They do sell food, but the kitchen was closed when I got there. The moon honestly isn't that impressive once you're up there. The whole experience was overrated, nothing impressed me. I probably wouldn't go back.

i called the hotel one of the workers answered and played an air horn in my ear!!! that hurt my ears so bad!!! these people are super disrespectful.

This hotel has the best customer service I have experienced in awhile. The attention to detail is so great. We took our dog and they had such cute welcome treats and goodies bags and all kinds of stuff. And the pet floor of rooms is so clean and smells great. And anywhere with welcome cocktails is a plus. Lol They have a rooftop bar/patio which was pretty good and an on-site restaurant which went didn't try. The only draw back was that my a.c unit wouldn't drop below 72 and the hotel didn't want to do anything about it. But I wouldn't give them a bad rating for that one mishap. I'd definitely stay again.

Cool vibe, clean rooms, easy initial check-in, decent on-site restaurant, and nice rooftop bar. HOWEVER, what's keeping me from giving it full star status was the super weird experience we had our first night .. someone knocking on our door at 945p claiming to be "housekeeping", followed immediately with literal pounding by a security guard telling us thru the door that we weren't supposed to in the room and needed to leave immediately. Chaotic, upsetting, and stressful to say the least which, in the end, was blamed upon an computer glitch. Apparently, the system didn't show us in the room, even though we reserved and paid for 2 nights. The same front desk clerk who checked us in a few hours before assigned our room to another party. When that party came up and heard the TV going, they went back to the front desk to advise. Instead of simply calling our room to ascertain the situation, they pull this completely stressful, embarrassing, and unprofessional stunt with no sincere apology from the front desk clerk when they realized it to be their/the hotel's error. I spoke with a manager the next morning, explained the situation and how it *should* have been handled the night before. He again apologized, advised they've had similar issues with their (new) computer system, and comp'd us breakfast in the on-site restaurant. It would seem if this were a situation that has happened before, they should have a better protocol in place than to terrorize guests in the middle of the night. More importantly, front desk staff should be better trained on customer service and to how show more empathy, especially when the business is at fault, than the "dead fish", apathetic response bordering defensiveness we received.

Was there for NYE and had 2 windows in my car broken out. I saw at least 6 other cars with broken windows that night. This is an ongoing issue with the Moonrise (see the reviews) and the hotel does nothing to combat this issue. DO NOT park in the Moonrise parking lot (even valet) or you WILL have your car broken into.

Four stars? B.S. Days Inn more like. The Moonrise reminds me of a precocious grade schooler that grew up, and the zits and body odor are showing. Someone curated this hotel in 2009 and simply walked away, and left all of his space toys in the shelf. The rooms are simply dirty, the carpets not cleaned in years. There is no valet, when every downtown STL hotel has restored this service since COVID. The EV charger is broken, with its sign at an angle. Our room's bed had shredded vinyl on the base, and the sheets had not been changed when we checked in. Gross. The restaurant, on a Saturday morning, was out of fruit and yogurt. Worse, 100 feet to the east of this property, was a very psychotic homeless person who maintained his presence on the street for the three days we stayed there. He ate on the street. He urinated on the street. He defecated on the street. He was mostly naked. NOBODY cared when we called 911. The City of University City thinks this is cute. My advice? Stay in Clayton, a few miles away, where there is real law enforcement, franchised hotels, and a diversity of food that does not cater to Gen Z's fried fetish.

Very cool hotel. I lobe the decor and theme of the hotel. Very clean and i can tell they sanitize and take covid seriously. They also allow dogs and big dogs too not only 25 lbs . THANK GOD!! I just wish our dog was allowed on the rooftop. But its cool

Stopped in for a drink before the chris distenfo show at the pageant , sat at the bar for a drink and never have I sat for 5 minutes without any acknowledgement . They were not busy as I know how the industry goes ! Terrible customer service . I myself bartend so I know customer service . What trash bartenders ! Maybe if I was a man I would have been seen . Little did he know I would if ripped better than any person at the bar .

The rooftop bar gave me the worst old fashions I've ever had. They took forever to make them and they came with no ice and tasted terrible.

Front desk, Scott was courteous and informative. The Vincent Price Room was cool with its mid century modern decor. The rooftop bar and terrace had a great views and great bar staff. AND it's animal friendly-what more could you ask for in a great hotel?fx

No idea about the hotel but a nice rooftop bar with good options and a comfortable setting. Came with six others and we all had a great time.

Cute decor, but stains in the sheets. Poor attitude. Don't recommend and won't come again.

I can't say enough about Elisia that works in the kitchen she literally made my stay here at the Moonrise Hotel worth every dime. She was so accommodating and so refreshing early in the morning when most people are not. Thank you Elisia you made my day. I'll be back!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was lovely! Our wedding was galaxy themed so this place was a perfect fit. The decoration is detailed and beautiful. Being disabled, I so appreciated that after putting a note in the reservation about it, the staff made sure that our room was right in front of the elevator so I didn't have to walk far. The Aveda toiletries the hotel provides are rosemary mint and smell so good! The front desk staff took some pictures for us in the evening. And then we went to the rooftop bar and met some nice people who bought us a celebratory drink. We got a Sidecar and the bartender did a great job on it. The cons I have: I found a cricket in our bathroom and a rubber band in our sheets. We were a little underwhelmed by the setup for the price. And when we checked in, they forgot to give us our Rise and Shine gift card for the Eclipse Restaurant. But that worked out. The restaurant staff got it for us.

If you want to see my moonrise come over to my house later. But this particular moonrise is a gorgeous hotel in the trendy part of St Louis. It towers over the area and is really memorable. I was only in here for a couple of hours but the prices seem fair if a little on the high side. And the company I had was 10 Stars not just 5 stars. But that's not what the review is about.

Amazing! Clean, friendly staff, cool vibe, free guest parking, well appointed rooms, including Starbucks coffee and Aveda hair and body products. Loved everything about this hotel! Well done. Will recommend!!

We really enjoyed our mini-honeymoon stay here. The employees at the counter were very friendly, and there was plenty of parking in the lot that we never had to pay for the valet. The decor in the lobby is beautiful, as was the decor in the room itself. The room was very clean and lovely. The bathroom looked newly remodeled with a modern sink and standing shower and fantastic shower head that was installed in the ceiling. (They had a shower cap since it was hard to use the shower without getting your hair wet.) The Aveda products in the bathroom were great quality, and I appreciated that they also had a makeup removing wipe available. The robe was warm and comfortable, and I am strongly debating going back to the lobby shop to purchase one for my home. The bed and pillows were amazingly comfortable, and I slept much better on them than on my own at home, which has never happened at a hotel before. The two layers of blinds/curtains also kept the light out when the sun rose, so that we could actually sleep in. The location is optimal for sight seeing and foodie explorations.

This review is for the rooftop bar since it doesn't have its own account. The rooftop bar seems like it's only for guests, but I promise you, you just hop on the elevator and go right to the top. It's for anyone in St. Louis (local or not). The rooftop has a great view onlooking the city, you can see the arch and everything. Drinks are from real mixologists and are extremely delicious. Ambiance is very welcoming and warm, you get to sit out on a patio on the top of the hotel, which is awesome. Prices are a little more than most places in the area, but you're definitely paying for location. They have a ton of comfy couches, if you get here early in the evening you can snag one and relax all night. It's a great spot to end your night on the loop. I highly recommend for anyone in the area!

Ashley and Clay were outstanding with customer service. They still practice the customer service you got back in the day. The recommended a breakfast place the peacock down the street. Would definitely stay back here again.
