The Hottest Cocktail Bars in San Diego, December 2024

"The newest addition to the Mission Bay Beach Club, Moonlight carries people from afternoon to evening. Housed in a silver trailer across the courtyard from Superbloom, right on Mission Bay, it offers beer, wine, boozy slushies on tap as well as a collection of classic cocktails. Co-work on the patio with ginger and rose spritz or catch up with friends at sunset with an island-spiced Old Fashioned." - Kelly Bone, Candice Woo

The Presley in Liberty Station Hosting Free Vaccination Clinic | Eater San Diego

"Staff at Moonshine Beach will be able to get vaccinated at a pop-up clinic hosted at The Presley in Liberty Station on Tuesday, August 10, with employee-only appointments reserved from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. during which staff will be compensated; the clinic is free, requires an I.D., and will open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to family members of Good Time Design employees and other local hospitality, restaurant, and bar industry workers, and while Good Time Design isn’t requiring vaccination, it hopes offering compensation and a convenient option will encourage those on the fence to get vaccinated." - Candice Woo

Where to Watch Super Bowl LIV in San Diego - Eater San Diego

"There’s no better place to be should San Fran advance to the championship than San Diego’s official home of 49ers football. In addition to its supersized screen, Moonshine Beach will offer food and drink specials, including $25 Budweiser and $30 Stella Artois buckets, plus prizes, and giveaways every quarter." - Keri Bridgwater

Google
Have the absolute best time ever there this weekend.. My favorite part was Charlie singing Gigolo On the karaoke side!!! Definitely come back to visit. It was absolutely the best time in San Diego. The atmosphere with electric the service was outstanding and we felt so welcome to just have a great time

Google
We were looking forward to our first line dancing experience, but unfortunately we never made it inside. The security staff member at the door was deliberately dismissive and disrespectful, and it set a tone that made it impossible to feel welcomed or safe. It was disappointing to be treated this way. A good security guard is professional and supports creating a positive experience for guests while keeping boundaries he has to uphold. Based on other reviews, it seems we are not the only ones who have had a negative encounter at the entrance. This kind of treatment doesn’t reflect well on the venue and kept us from ever stepping inside.

Google
We got tickets to see William Green Clark, a country rock band with guest star country singer Erin Kinsey through Vettix. Note that this venue is standing room only except for a few tables. We got lucky, and another couple offered to share their table. We got the double smashed cheeseburger with fries to share and plain crispy wings served with celery & carrot sticks accompanied by ranch and buffalo sauce. Good portions. Reasonably priced. We had a round of drinks followed by water. The food came up promptly, and once done, it was cleared off quickly. So much so that my water was swiped when I turned my back! The bands were decent, but perhaps an addition of a soundboard could control the acoustics. Once the concert let out, it was confusing as to where the exit was. Two doors were guarded, pushing the flow of people towards the other exit, which was being used as an entrance only. It might have been intentional to persuade the crowd to stay and play some of the games or get additional beverages. Either way, it worked, and we got sidetracked by their dollar menu stand, which featured $1 hot dogs, $1 chips, and $5 mini pizzas. This place is in Pacific Beach (PB), so plan ahead for parking can be at a premium. Expect to pay for parking or have to walk a few blocks. Overall, we had fun, but this is a primarily 20-something crowd, so likely this will not be a return spot unless another good concert opportunity comes up!

Google
Great bar for dancing on Tuesdays! Come Sunday football season, it’s a huge niners bar. Would recommend any team to come watch, it’s a great fun environment

Eli S.

Google
The bar tender was mad because I don't tip them. Ever waitress seem like they want a tips the wings was the best thing. But the other food were a small proteins. It's a good place to watch the 49ers games.

Google
I have ate, drank, and danced at this bar for 7 years. They have great food, friendly staff, and wonderful entertainment throughout the week. Hannah Bergman is also one of my favorite staff as she worked there since its been open and has always made me feel welcome and helped me learn the dances they do there.

Nicole B.

Google
Hannah, the honeys, and all bar staff make me feel so special each and every time I go in to dance. It is always a good time and I laugh a ton when I go in. If you want a good time, go to Moonshine Beach. Security also makes me feel so safe when I am dancing. If there is a problem, they have my back.

Eric

Google
Nobody got mad at me or made fun of me for my horrible line dancing skills! It was my first time and I tried to get it, but the dances are actually pretty complicated and very fast paced. Not to mention literally every song has a different dance so that makes it entertaining. They also give you food tokens when you pay the $10 to enter. How cool is that?! You get two for Free: burrito, quesadilla, hot dog, chips. Nothing crazy good but they totally don’t have to do that but they do! Our party had a great time and we will be back for sure!

Yelp
What an awesome bar/club!! The manager was amazing. That's him on the picture. The tall guy. This club/bar made the Halloween bar crawl the best!!! The music and the DJ was awesome. He played all the great dance jams. Totally worth my experience!! Loved this place!!! The drinks were delicious
google avatar

Yelp
Ay whaddup. This place is 100% not my vibe type shit. Kinda wild had to pay 10 whole bones to get in this piece. Racing machine is pretty lit tho, set 3 top scores, look for XxALLDAYxX on the leader boards. Drinks are fun I appreciate the buckets of Buena Beers those things get me rockin. Outside areas always cool if you wanna make sure the honeys can hear the fire game your spittin. If your not nice like that, keepin it player on the dance floor is always a sure bet for some lady attention. What really keeps the ambiance fresh is my guy Donald, this guy is a straight rock, holding down this place. If it wasn't for this buster I don't know if this place would still be in business. Keep up the good work Moonshine Beach, I'll see you Saturday

Yelp
Moonshine Beach is one of those rare nightlife spots that manages to feel both electric and welcoming at the same time. Tucked away in San Diego, it's more than just a bar--it's a full experience, a place where locals and visitors alike come together for music, dancing, and memories that seem to stick around long after the lights dim. On any given night, you'll hear a mix of country hits, pop anthems, and live bands that get the whole room moving, but what sets Moonshine Beach apart is the way the entire place feels like a community. The wooden décor, the expansive dance floor, and the ever-energetic crowd give it a country-roadhouse-meets-beach-party vibe. It's casual enough to walk in wearing boots and jeans, but also polished enough that you can celebrate a big night out with friends. Of course, a bar is only as good as the people who run it, and Moonshine Beach excels in this department. The bartenders are fast, friendly, and somehow manage to remember faces even on the busiest nights. The DJs and performers keep the energy high without letting the music feel repetitive. But the unsung heroes of the experience are the security staff, and among them, Donald stands out as the true guardian of the door, the floor, and the overall spirit of the venue. From the very first moment you approach Moonshine Beach, Donald sets the tone. He's not just another bouncer checking IDs with a scowl; he's a professional who understands that hospitality starts outside the entrance. His presence is commanding without being intimidating--he manages to create a sense of safety while still being approachable. For new guests, his warm greetings and easygoing attitude help ease any nerves about entering a packed venue. For regulars, seeing Donald at the door feels like a reassuring sign that the night will run smoothly. Inside the bar, Donald's role becomes even more important. Moonshine Beach often gets lively--hundreds of people dancing, celebrating birthdays, singing along to their favorite songs. In that kind of environment, security staff can sometimes fade into the background or, worse, become overly aggressive. But Donald strikes a balance that few can manage. He's attentive without hovering, firm without being harsh, and he always treats patrons with respect. Whether it's calmly diffusing a disagreement on the dance floor or helping someone find their way out after a few too many drinks, Donald does his job with an almost effortless sense of grace. What's remarkable about Donald is that he doesn't just maintain order--he enhances the fun. Guests often talk about how his positive energy adds to their night. You might catch him exchanging a quick joke, offering a friendly nod, or making sure everyone feels included. In a place where the atmosphere relies on people letting loose and enjoying themselves, knowing that someone like Donald is watching over everything makes it that much easier to relax. He embodies the idea that security isn't just about keeping trouble out; it's about creating an environment where good times can flourish. Beyond his immediate duties, Donald represents what makes Moonshine Beach such a beloved spot in San Diego nightlife: consistency and care. In an industry where staff can sometimes feel interchangeable, Donald leaves a lasting impression. Many guests say that their favorite memories of Moonshine aren't just about the music or the drinks, but about the people who made them feel safe and welcome--and Donald is at the heart of those stories. It's no exaggeration to say that he's part of the identity of the bar itself. Moonshine Beach already has all the ingredients of a great venue: a high-energy dance floor, a fantastic lineup of live performers, quick service, and an atmosphere that makes every night feel like a celebration. But what elevates it above other bars in the city is how it combines those features with genuine hospitality. Donald is the clearest example of this hospitality in action. He's not just doing a job; he's creating a space where people can have fun, feel safe, and want to come back again and again. If you're looking for a bar that blends the excitement of a concert venue with the friendliness of a neighborhood hangout, Moonshine Beach is the place. And if you're lucky enough to meet Donald while you're there, you'll understand why so many people mention him by name when they talk about their best nights out. He's proof that one person's professionalism and kindness can elevate an entire establishment. Moonshine Beach would still be a great bar without him--but with him, it becomes unforgettable.

Yelp
First time at Moonshine Beach to attend Ty Myers concert! Had an awesome time! Super impressed! The venue is clean and well maintained. The bouncers were friendly and did their jobs well and kept order but still let everyone have a good time! The lines to get in moved fast! Drinks were very reasonably priced and made well! They offered food but although I didn't eat friends did and said the food was good! The sound was excellent and I really enjoyed the concert! One big plus: bathrooms were really clean and monitored throughout the concert! I'll be back for sure!
google avatar

Yelp
MOONSHINE BEACH @ PACIFIC BEACH One of my favorite spots to go out with my friends, the lines are always out the door, but it's worth the wait! It's a $10 fee on a weekend (+ Friday) and free during the week. There is free hot dog or burritos when you enter (the BEST part), and several parts in the place, there is also Karaoke, takes a while to get up there because it's first come first serve. The space where all the music is feels like a concert, it's huge and has lovely lights and a great atmosphere, sometimes it can get overheated. Overall, I'd come back here for the karaoke and hot dogs, it's the best that a bar/club can give you. Highly recommend stopping by.

Yelp
I try to always come here for 49er games! Been coming here for a few years now and it's always a blast. Even worth the 1.5 hours I have to drive at times if I'm not working out in San Diego. Such a fun vibe from start to finish. For anyone who is new, the doors open an hour before game time (ex. 10am game then 9am opener for loyalty card holders and then 9:30 for non-loyalty). These cards are given out at the very first game of each season so make sure to show up then cause they are a nice perk to have! Half time always has $2 fireball shots so definitely get yourself one of two of those!!
google avatar

Marisa M.

Yelp
It's cute for what it is-- a country bar for college kids. The drinks weren't very strong, but they sure were cheap. Bartender was friendly enough. Line dancing was very "San Diego" style but everyone seemed like they were having a good time.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Best place to watch a 49ers game!!! Drinks are cheap, food is solid (especially the fries and pizza!) and great vibes! Service is great, bartenders are fast and nice, really no complaints. Get there early on game day to get a table as it gets packed! Or you can get a loyalty card for the season which lets you get in extra early to secure a spot. It has everything you want for a sports bar!

Rory C.

Yelp
The bouncers and employees were incredibly rude and disrespectful for no reason. Zero professionalism, terrible attitude, and the whole place had a bad, uncomfortable vibe. Definitely not worth the cover or the time. Plenty of better bars in San Diego.
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
I have wanted to come to Moonshine Beach ever since my last San Diego trip, and this time, me and my friends stayed in Pacific Beach, so it was an easy walk! If you're into country music, this bar is perfect for you! They have a corner for karaoke, arcade stuff, line-dancing lessons, and a DJ late at night. My friends and I each ordered a bucket drink as well; I got the BRB! drink and loved it! I do wish they had a bit more alcohol in them, but it was still very good. Moonshine Beach even had a $1 menu that had things like pretzels, hot dogs, etc which was pretty cool if you're looking for food on a budget!
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
Tuesday night country line dancing with no cover fee! Beginner friendly--I stepped on so many shoes and no one yelled at me(,: Doors open at 8. Dance lessons are at 9PM, 10PM, and 11. For the rest of the time, it's an open floor with the title of the choreography shown on the back wall. If you know the choreo, then hit the dance floor with everyone else! If you don't, then learn or wait on the side. It surprisingly gets PACKED, but don't be shy. Everyone's there just to dance, no judgement! There's also a lot of bars to grab drinks from for some liquid courage!
google avatar

Pono K.

Yelp
Hannah Bergman is the OG entertainer at beach. She crushes it and always brings a smile to your face! I'm thrilled to have been able to enjoy moonshine beach with her leading the charge on line dances and making sure regulars, new comers and friends are all having a good time and taken care of. 100/10 would recommend attending one of her lessons!

Shaughnessy C.

Yelp
HORRIBLE if i could leave 0 stars i would. i was kicked out for NO reason. i left the larger dance floor, went to a quieter area outside to call my boyfriend and security approached me and simply said "you need to go" and that they had "given me multiple chances" throughout the night - i was with 2 of my friends and my brother and we were all very confused by what was transpiring. horrible environment, horrible service, horrible security, do not go here
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
Fun ambiance. They play country at the beginning of the night, and eventually play throwbacks/house as the night progresses. Perfect place to go out with a big group. Big stage with live performances and DJs (depends on the night.) Cover is typically $10. Make sure you get the free, food tokens when you pay for cover. 10/10 recommend!
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
Moonshine Beach is the real deal. I come here often and have the best time. Great drinks, killer sliders (seriously, try them), and they have free line dancing every Tuesday night--no cover, just good music and good vibes. Quick story, someone walking past me knocked my beer out of my hand and walked away. Before I could even process what happened, Dahlia, the manager, saw the whole thing happen from above and came right over. She was super cool about it and offered to replace my drink on the spot. That kind of service is rare--and honestly, she made my night. The bartenders are great, the energy is always high, and the food goes way beyond typical bar grub. Moonshine Beach has definitely earned a spot in my regular rotation.

Gregory M.

Yelp
Moonshine is the best, bartender Sherilynn is the best! Very quick service, great songs and fun vibes
google avatar

Jaidacyn M.

Yelp
Moonshine Beach is my favorite place to go line dancing! The music is awesome, the staff is so friendly and very accommodating! Hannah the entertainment manager is the best and always makes occasions (like my birthday) extra special!

Danielle H.

Yelp
If you're looking for a quiet place to sip chamomile tea and discuss existential philosophy, Moonshine Flats is absolutely not for you. Instead, prepare yourself for the boot-stomping, whiskey-fueled chaos you didn't know you needed. The music? Loud enough to make your grandma's hearing aids cry. The dancing? A cross between the Wild West and a cardio workout you didn't sign up for. And the drinks? Let's just say my liver has filed a restraining order. But the real MVP here is Hannah B. Somehow, she manages to greet everyone with a smile on her face while managing the chaos, all while slightly judging my dance moves... just kidding :) Come for the moonshine, stay for the Hannah B experience. Just don't blame me when you leave with sore calves, a cowboy hat you don't remember bringing in, and a sudden urge to line dance at inappropriate times.

Jennifer E.

Yelp
The staff is amazing!!! Tuesday, Friday, Saturday Moonshine host karaoke and it's always so much fun! When you go ask for Sherilynn behind the bar! Also huge shoutout to the most jacked & professional security guard Donald

Emily M.

Yelp
The best place ever to watch the niners!! Food is great, SERVICE even better! I was lucky enough to get a table on 11/9 and waitstaff went so above and beyond even though it was super crowded. Shoutout management team, your hard work really shows. Rock on :)

Nick R.

Yelp
I love this bar! In fact I have a story of how much I love this bar! Donald wasn't the head security guard of Moonshine Beach, but folks treated him like one all the same. He was tall, broad-shouldered, with a sun-creased face and a steady hand that could calm a horse or draw a walkie talkie in a blink. He wore a security guard t-shirt, but people said his word carried more weight than one. The town had learned that the hard way, years back, when a crew of violent patrons drifted in on a tide, looking to do what they pleased. Donald had stepped off the stage and into the dance floor, his boots sinking as he squared his shoulders. "You can drink your fill," he told them, voice even as the surf, "but you won't spill blood here." The way he said it--firm but calm--left no room for argument. The patrons sailed off by morning, and from that day forward, Moonshine Beach looked to him for protection. Donald never bragged about it. He checked IDs at the door, cleaned up every mess that was made, and tipped his hat to bachelorette parties the same as any ranch hand would on the prairie. But when gulls circled low and strangers lingered too long by the exit, he'd appear, quiet as the tide rolling in, watching with eyes that didn't miss a thing. One evening, word came that underaged guests planned to sneak in and get their hands on the Beach's alcohol. Instead of rallying a posse, Donald saddled his badge and security guard t shirt and radioed in alone. Beneath the silver moon, he cut them off by the breakers. No shots rang out that night--only the hiss of surf and the thud of fleeing boots as the children scattered like driftwood in a storm. By dawn, the bar was safe, and the townsfolk found Donald leaning on a piling, sipping coffee as if nothing had happened. They never called him a head security guard, but to Moonshine Beach, Donald was something more--a steady hand, a quiet guardian, and the reason the town could sleep sound each night.

Madeline G.

Yelp
I've never left a review on yelp before but made an account after this experience. The ambiance is usually great I love country music but this time the staffing was horrible. Some super tall lanky guy at the door was on a power trip and calling customers the "R" word for the way they were lined up even though the line went all the way around the corner. He claimed to be the manager but wouldn't give us his name. We ended up going to Hideaway instead to celebrate Halloween and had an amazing experience!! Would never recommend MB again.

Conrad W.

Yelp
The bouncers are power tripping losers. I was yelled at and not allowed in because of a case of mistaken identity. I haven't been here in 2 years but apparently I was kicked out last week somehow.

Khloë J.

Yelp
Vic is the best bouncer and always keeps us safe! Wouldn't feel as excited to go every week if he wasn't there to say hello. 11/10 best bar in sd

Daniel L.

Yelp
Moonshine will always be one of my favorite concerts venues. You can get right up front to just about any of them. Hannah is the best around and most accommodating!

Matt K.

Yelp
Vic, the door guy, was so nice and helpful. Loves to make a quick convo and bust kids with fakes. Although his shadow casts a large image from the dim lit side walk, he is rather short.

jenna k.

Yelp
I love this bar with my whole heart. Sherilynn is the best bartender in all of pacific beach! Keep it up!

Gilman B.

Yelp
I got covid. This place has NO ventilation inside. I went for the niners game. Me and 5,000 fans inside with NO ventilation. I'm Sooo angry. I'll never go back.

Randi W.

Yelp
Hannah was an excellent host! I am coming back just to see her! Her energy was unmatched and really made the night fun

Caesar G.

Yelp
I love moonshine. The vibes are always immaculate. The bartenders always do a great job as well as all the other staff! I really like the bouncer Donald, very nice dude.

Michael A.

Yelp
Was a fun night with my friends. Had an issue that Donald the security guy solved. He was the happiest guy I've ever met with only positive energy.
google avatar

Shaza A.

Yelp
It was my first time at Moonside Beach Bar, where I attended a Theo Katzman event after a friend invited me. The venue is cozy, clean, and offers plenty of activities even when there isn't an event. We were fortunate to find parking right across the street. They have some great happy hour deals.

Aaron H.

Yelp
Establishment is good especially this one bouncer they have. His name is Donald. He always makes sure there is no funny business going on while being a friend person, he's a good person

Yelp
I come here for Salsa Bachata nights ( every so often). Security is on it. They are doing their job so well; At same time courteous and pleasant. Thank you. You deserve acknowledgment. A blonde young man in particular; great job.

Yelp
So this happened during the football season last year I found this in my notes because I told some friends about the experience and figured I should post it here, I got to the bar early for the 49ers game, got my table, ate some food. Partway through the first quarter manager says the table was supposed to be reserved and tries kicking me and my girlfriend off the table, His offers went from Buy your next round of drinks Buy the rest of your food and drinks for the game (I already paid for food and ate so this offer was dumb) third offer was Now here's a small table off to the side (one of the small barrels) I Had to argue hard just for a table Then he didn't even let me keep the high chairs, Gave us shorter stools After being unhappy with the lack of a view I said can I just be reimbursed and we can leave He says yes, thennnn says actually no I gave you the "vip experience" and why should we pay you for food you already ate, you didn't pay for that table Like bro NOBODY paid for the table, those reserved tables are friends of the owner. I'm not sure how getting kicked off your table for a terrible view is a "VIP experience" seems like the people that took the table I was at got the VIP experience. After arguing with him he got his boss and he was willing to cover the cost of the food we ate there and gave us some gift certificates or whatever for $50 which was fine, I thought I'd go back and use them but I was so unhappy about what happened I never went back. Also after asking some questions it seems like those front tables (not the one I was sitting at) are always reserved for friends of the owner and they give it some little club name that no one is allowed in, it's just friends of staff or whatever, sucks that no one can get those tables because I would've been happy to pay to reserve one, the people that always sit at them are so damn tall you'll never really have a good view watching the game over there. While the atmosphere there is cool for the 49ers games I wouldn't recommend because you just can't get a good view

Paula B.

Yelp
Jacob the bartender is AMAZING customer service. Made. My night!!! He gets 100 stars!!!!
google avatar

Mari D.

Yelp
Went here Saturday and had a great time!! Rachel Horter performed and was amazing!! Staff and drinks were excellent. Crowd was diverse and very friendly! I don't even like country music but I'd come back again for sure!! Also came here for a Niner game Sunday and it was almost better than being at the actual game!!! The TV was huge and the sound system was nice and loud!! I was happy to hear the game on a huge speaker system!!! If you're a Niner fan- this place is a must!!!

Eli H.

Yelp
Charge a $10 cover when INSIDE and then took my friends actual ID never coming back. Actually ridiculous. Vick did not handle it well.

Elizabeth K.

Yelp
Jackson was so accommodating at the door! He truly went above and beyond to make our night fun and stress free. The music was great too and lots of people were dancing, with fun drinks, especially the buckets. But really Jackson was the highlight and the main reason we will be back!!!!
google avatar

Zay R.

Yelp
Went to this place for line dancing and when I entered the bouncer almost didn't let me in, because he suspected my ID to be fake because of my photo being zoomed in. I went to DMV about this issue a while back and they said nothing looks wrong with the ID. The bouncer asked me for another form of identification even though my ID was real and the flashlight going through the ID showed the bear and CA state, proving it was a real ID. Please train your bouncers better when checking ID's! I shouldnt have to worry about carrying my birth certifcate or passport book just to prove my ID is real.
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
This place is so much fun! Live music, dancing, games like giant connect 4 and pool. Everyone's so friendly and the service is top notch. We didn't try the food so can't comment on that, but if you're looking for a place to hang with your friends and just have a great time listening to country music, this is it!

Josh H.

Yelp
My friends and I went to go see ty myers and was very crowded and we couldn't breath so my friend passed out due to medical issues. Another girl passed out right after my friend and was let back in. They told my friend he wasn't allowed back in due to policy but let the other girl back in right after. They kicked us out and wouldn't let us back in. I wouldn't want to let gender or race be brought but i feel like it was a big role.

Autumn B.

Yelp
Great place to see concerts, very intimate and good sound! All the staff is very nice and made it a great experience for my friends and I.
google avatar

Sharline L.

Yelp
Food was great. Service was great. Ambiance was killer lively fun exciting... would definitely recommend going

Hannah P.

Yelp
the strap on my shirt broke while at moonshine and vic&mike told their manager and they let me have a t-shirt such sweet workers the best!!!!

Juan Pablo V.

Yelp
I was double charged for some drinks, and getting a refund has been a complete headache. I've tried reaching out multiple times, but no one answers, and there's no clear way to resolve the issue. I understand mistakes happen, but good customer service means fixing them. Really disappointed with how difficult this process has been."

Yelp
We came here on a party bus for a bachelorette party night out and had a blast! We knew we were coming here for line dancing but had no idea how this bar would transform throughout the night. We got there right at 8pm when they opened for line dancing. There were people who work at Moonshine out on the dance floor doing line dancing. It seemed like many regulars were also there who knew the routines. My friends and I attempted to jump in and learn the dances, some were definitely easier than others! We had a great time trying to learn and even getting the hang of some of them. One of the guys who works here was really helpful with trying to help teach us! They do lessons a few nights a week for line dancing, this was not one of those nights. However, they did have a segment where they taught one line dancing routine for about 10 mins then we all did that dance to 1 song. That was a fun way to get more people to participate! They did a high kick competition which my friend won, then one of the staff members bought us all shots to celebrate! The line dancing was all to country music and lasted about 2 hours. After that, a live band came on that did some covers of popular songs! It was quite different than the line dancing and we couldn't believe how fast the place filled up as the night progressed. We loved getting to sing and dance to some live music! After the live band ended, the whole placed turned into what felt like a club with EDM type music. We all joked at the end that it felt like we went to 3 different bars because of the super different vibes throughout the night! We loved the variety and had a great time. There were multiple different bars to order drinks from, so it seemed like there was never a wait. They even had multiple different bathrooms to choose from which was great to see at a bar where girls usually have to wait in long lines. Our night out at Moonshine was definitely a highlight of the trip and I would highly recommend it for a group night out!

Yelp
Line dancing... it is the best we've been to the sister bar downtown and this one has a larger dance floor footprint. Coming back after the shutdowns from the pandemic and seeing a lot of familiar faces, really awesome. Bar is friendly - excellent service- and I yelled out a line dance and the dj played it. Could have been a coincidence but still hilarious! They now on Saturdays charge cover starting at 7- get on the guest list to avoid this. We really only go once the dance hall opens around 8 and leave when the live music starts around 9:30-10. Which some may argue is when it gets turnt. I have a few notes about the bouncers- this seems to be a popular topic on other reviews. The bouncers and security that I've seen have always cleared drinks, kept people safe and kept the place running super smoothly. It's part of the reason we keep coming back. They don't let it get trashed or let over served people ruin it for others. Tip: they have dance tutorials on YouTube if you want to see a few before dusting off your boots.

Yelp
A downfall for what used to be one of the best bars in Pacific Beach. The DJ/ music they have now is laughably embarrassing and actually ruins the entire experience. Who thought it was a good idea to give some random guy a mic to try to hype up the crowd
