Stopped by around 4:45pm on a Sunday with my wife and kid to check the place out. The door was locked, and when someone came out, she abruptly and aggressively told us they were closed for a private event and would reopen at 5pm. Totally understandable if you're closed—but the tone was unnecessarily rude. A little kindness goes a long way.

A cute, small cider tasting room in the heart of Austin’s east side. It’s perfect for just hanging out and playing board games. The tasting room constantly has changing ciders that are on the dry side. Perfect for me! Love having my event here will do it again They even added SOCO ginger beer to the tap wall!

We held our company kick-off at Moontower Cider Co. in January 2025, and it was a fantastic experience! Chelsea was incredibly accommodating, making the entire planning process smooth and stress-free. The space was perfect for our needs—easy to access, with tables, chairs, and linens set up for us. They also provided a projector screen and clicker for our presentation, which was a huge plus. Funny story—we accidentally took the USB clicker with our work things, and Chelsea was so understanding when we returned it. She was a pleasure to work with the entire time! The only minor challenge was parking, as we had a lot of trucks on our team, but there was plenty of street parking available. Overall, it was a great venue, and I’d absolutely use it again for another event.

I just had a big birthday party here and it was the PERFECT space to do so. The staff was very kind and it was really easy to book with them. We were able to bring our own food and drink and decorate it super cute. And it was a great size for the amount of people there. I had a blast. This is an awesome venue. Thank y'all for hosting us!

These were ok ciders, and I didn’t really love any of them. The miel one, made with mead, tasted as if the mead had gone bad.

Awesome place!! Met the event manager, first day on the job and she’s awesome. Talked for awhile and will bringing the wife next week to check out the cool little tap room. Tasty ciders! Hidden gem that’s for sure

Yelp
I have been wanting to check this place out and a private event with my fellow coworkers gave me the opportunity I was looking for. I noticed there's only about a dozen spots to park in and not much in the way of street parking. I have to admit this venue is actually a lot smaller than I imagined. When you walk through the door, you'll find that it is a small 700 square-foot space with a 6' bar which features a few home made ciders on tap. They also have a nice selection of organic wines and nonalcoholic beverages, but no beer. In case you're wondering, you can actually rent this room out for a private party for about 30, but probably not more than 40 of your closest friends (I recommend car pooling). If you rent this space, then you can bring your own beer which their license permits. They do have two relatively clean unisex bathrooms and a few picnic tables outside. This place seems to be a good neighborhood hang out, but also acts as a nice quaint venue for small parties. Photos included for more perspective.

Yelp
Checked out Moontower a few weeks ago with my boyfriend and our dog. Loved that it is dog friendly! We went at a random time on a random day, and it was empty. We were the only 2 people there. We sampled a few different ciders before deciding on what we wanted, which was ok -- not amazing, but not bad! I'll be back another time to check some more options out.

Yelp
Drove past and was drawn like a moth to clothes in off-season storage by the sign advertising espresso. As I was looking for decaf and they do not (yet?) have that, I tried their seasonal ciders: Raspberryberet (totally singing the Artist Formerly Known as Prince song of the same name)--a berry tart & dry cider; I was imaging it pairing well with the roast pork I'm serving for Thanksgiving so picked up a bottle of that. Then my little moth-like heart fell in love with their Hoppy Hour--a tropical IPA with a floral scent that initially made me nervous. The Hoppy Hour won't make it to Thanksgiving. Tip the bartender-- she makes good convo even with awkward turtles like me, and knows her stuff.

Yelp
My husband and I had seen this place for a while since we moved to this side of town. Usually I am running by it and we decided to finally stop in for a drink on a Saturday afternoon. We decided to do a flight of a piece of the ciders so we could try them all. It was the perfect choice as we both had different opinions of what tasted good. There are a few food options but we didn't eat here. They had a guy in the outdoor seating area that was cooking up some food on a grill. Overall a cool chill place to grab some drinks and hang out inside or outside.

Yelp
Cider was just OK. IMO, their selection is too limited, overpriced (no Happy Hour), and not customer focused. Feels like they are struggling. The day we stopped by their Taps weren't working, stuff happens I get it, but they poured from a can and charged full price (wow?!). If you are looking for cider in the ATX I'd highly recommend Austin Eastciders over Moontower. Sorry Moontower but not impressed.

Yelp
Moontower is a great neighborhood spot! The patio is mellow and the ciders aren't too sweet. I like that the offerings keep expanding with ciders, coffee, snacks and there's special events held on premise too including one with baby goats. I also stop by for refills of SoCo ginger beer with the rotating seasonal flavors. Check out Moontower and the personable staff will convert you into a repeat customer!

Yelp
This place had a super cute vibe! We went as part of the Austin Ale Trail and enjoyed some ciders. They had a cute outdoor patio, and we sat near the fan so it wasn't so bad during the summer day. There was also plenty of seating inside. I got a flight, and I found their ciders to be good, but thought the flavors were a bit similar. I enjoyed their frozen drink, the peach one. Definitely worth checking this place out!

Yelp
I came here for a private event, which was completely outdoors. It was supposed to be a very chilly night but thankfully the tent and the space heaters helped keep us warm. The server was very attentive and helpful. I don't usually enjoy beer, but I'll take a cider! And these ciders are crisp and sweet.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and stop by the Tasting Room at MoonTower Cider Co., over on Tillery Street, proudly brewing fine cider on the East Side. I was fortunate enough to show up just after the room opened (2-9 five days a week) and the ambiance and mood was perfect for a cloudy day: French jazz on the stereo, clean lines in the furniture and understated appointments and the well-informed and cider fan Anne-Claire behind the bar. She patiently walked me through ciders in general and expertly helped me understand one cider from the next from the "core four" and special tastings. Dog-friendly and laid-back, this is the perfect place to escape from the mayhem of daily life and enjoy an artisanal brew made by the good folks right here in town. How artisanal? They brew their own mead. Anne-Claire or others will be happy to recommend the cider for your palette and will speak to food pairings as well. All in all, a low-key, friendly no-pressure environment. There are no sales people here: there are artists happy to help you discover and share their fondness for cider. Go.

Yelp
I've only been by once, but they did a great job with distanced service! They gave me a little buzzer for when I needed something, brought my drink out to me, and had hand sanitizer at every table. They're just doing outside seating and to-go as of 9/11. Their Pomme Blush was delicious--not too sweet. I'll be back!

Yelp
Dear Moontower, I love you. Great patio, the staff seems to really care about what the company is doing. The cider flights are where it's at the get a full experience of the range being done here.

Yelp
Fantastic cider and a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly, and we will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Tasty drinks! I went to with my brother and we happened to arrive during a comedy night, so the atmosphere was a little different then what I saw online and it made seating awkward. However, I enjoyed being there and the ciders and almost all the drinks were very well done!

Yelp
Really great dry cider! Nice outdoor space too that's dog friendly. Would be nice to see a few more items of food on the menu but the cheese plate is delicious!

Yelp
Complex yet approachable, obsessive but laid back, a treat but also something you could drink all day. Moontower really reassembled my brain when it comes to cider. You'll want to easy into this space, try every last thing they've made, and tell all your friends about it. Such a welcome break from all the overly loud, vibe-first, money-grab breweries popping up around Austin. These people care about making an incredible product and giving you a relaxed space to enjoy it in. Kudos, y'all. See you every week!

Yelp
We just tried the two cider flights and cheese plate. Loved our experience! None of the other Cider places were open due to Corona so we were very glad to find a place with out door seating and serving cider on tap. The waitress was very sweet and educating as well! Will definitely go back!
