Moores' Flour Mill

Moore's has been my go-to mill for a while. How can you go wrong when it's my mother's maiden name: a Moore from Elaine AR but probably not related. Loved it when the new plant owned up. Get all my bread flours, cornmeal and other goods at Moores. The bread flour works great for my sourdough. Large selection of flours, beans, rice, spices and more. Service is good and pricing is great.

Come here!!..if you love to bake this is where to go. Too much to tell what they have but go here. They have a lot of bulk items for baking and to make goodies with.

Prices are very good and they know a lot about their products. My wife is allergic to mass produced wheat products but does not have any issues with the flour I buy here. Much of the wheat is grown locally as well.

If you bake or cook and you're anywhere near here, stop in. Grains, flour (from wheat, other grains, and non grains), nuts, beans, pasta including quinoa, granola, spices, and a few specialty things like powdered buttermilk. Prices are reasonable. They mill their flour, so it's fresh. Friendly staff can help if there's anything you don't find.

Very cool store. Just got back into bread making. I was able to get all the supplies I needed and supported a local business. Win win!

My daughter and I were out and about on a photo shoot on 4/23/22 and were in the neighborhood and decided to check the place out. What a wonderful place. I was like a kid in a candy store. I wanted to buy everything. I do agree with a couple of reviews. The store looks wonderful, is in a great location, the displays are lovely, BUT THE CLERK WAS TOTALLY DISINTERESTED IN OUR SHOPPING. Please, please find workers that are friendly and courteous. This was my first time visiting and I plan on coming back. I am hoping that the next clerk working there will be friendlier.

They have so much more than just flour here! The prices are extremely reasonable, especially for locally made stuff. 100% would recommend and I will definitely be back

As an instructor of professional baking I have found Moore's to be my one stop supplier of all my needs. Highly recommended.

Back in 2013, I gave Moore's one star, based on a sack of oat groats that was loaded with rocks. We haven't bought any more grain till now. We just bought a bag of hard red wheat. Based on a very close look at two pounds, I've never seen wheat this clean. There was no debris, non-wheat seeds, husks, or diseased wheat kernels. The grain was found to be suitably low-moisture during milling. Pending a taste test, this wheat is perfect. However, I wish there was a lot number. We were a little disappointed not to find corn flour. I think Moore's may have it from time-to-time. We were surprised to find some nice gunpowder green tea.

Great products but the woman at the counter is consistently unfriendly and unhelpful and seems put out with simple questions. It is like she is just tolerating you.

I used to buy their flour at Corti Bros. Market in Sacramento but they quit carrying it. Their website is totally useless--they should at least list the stores that carry their products. C'mon people let's get with it!

What a neat shop! My mom had visited in the past to buy bread flour and I've been wanting to stop by to check it out. They have so many neat beans, grains, cereal, as well as freshly milk flour. There's a section with spices and extracts as well. The attendant was friendly and I enjoyed the antique decor. I almost felt like o was stepping back a century with the decor, antiques and even the displayed in a way that you felt like you're in an old time mercantile. If you're a baker or someone that likes to cook, you should visit! I'd love to see the mills in action someday.

Great to have a local mill to get freshly milled flour and other local products! I like to make my own bread so I appreciate their well priced large bags of bread flour!.

We've bought our flour, yeast and so much more there at Moore's. For years! We've just moved out of state and wish we could order our bread flour and yeast and have it shipped to us. Debbie P.

Great products but THE WORST customer service. We have gone several times and every time the woman working acts like we are putting her out if we have questions, never smiles, and doesn't greet us when we enter. Her grumpy attitude is extremely off-putting for such a beautiful place. We are not the only ones to notice either, friends have said the same thing and haven't returned because of it.

Nice products but they've completely abandoned customer service. I've been out repeatedly trying to get one or another of their products and they're almost always out.

Love the fresh local non gmo milled grains. Their yeast is top notch and makes the best pizza dough and breads. Cream of wheat, fresh dried raisins, cranberries, coconut all for your baking needs! Oh, and aluminum free baking powder.

I bought a 25 lb bag of bread flour from the store (7/27/2020) and just started baking from it last weekend. The flour smelled strange - perhaps not rancid, but not the neutral smell I would expect. The flour baked up some of my best loaves of sourdough bread! But the smell from the flour made it thru to my finished loaf, which I find unappetizing. I will throw out the rest of the bag (20+ lbs!). I called to let them know, but, to be honest, they didn't seem too interested. If I lived closer, I would bring the flour back to be replaced (which they offered to me). I'm wondering what the off taste could be! I've used their bread flour before (that had sat on my shelf for much longer than this recent bag I bought!) with good result, so hopefully it's a one-off.

This place is frequently out of specialty flours I need such as rye. When I as when it will be restocked they can never give me an answer. I have had to resort to buying them online from other suppliers. Too bad as I prefer to buy local.

THIS IS THE GREATEST THING IN REDDING. It's old, been there since forever (that's a bit hyperbolic), has a real down home quality about it. The staff is friendly but gives you space. There are never more than two other customers (when I've gone, anyway). And the selection! All the flours you could want! Pasta! Nut butter! Honey! Beans! Soup mixes! Grain cereals! I love this place. I go every time I'm in Redding, and I bring spoils back for my friends. I'm just ashamed that it took me so damn long to find this place, since I've been driving by it on a nearly annual basis since I was a child.

Really great products and such a cute store! Just know that if you take your kids with you the store clerks will follow you around. I'm not kidding. It takes away the joy of shopping at their store if I'm being honest. I now have to arrange my stops at this store for when I don't have the kids (& my littles are very well behaved but they still feel the need to follow us around).

I used to go here with my Mom growing up. She always made bread and I'm so happy that they're still around so that I can continue that tradition. Locally owned and milled here in town. Great prices. Great options from everything from bread flour to almond flour. If you bake you need to check this place out!

I really like Moore's Flour Mill. A friend introduced me to their 10 grain hot cereal many years ago. People like to call that cereal "bird seed", but to me it is very yummy. I miss their old store, but new one works. More room to have more stuff for people to purchase. I agree with someone else that the employees leave a lot to be desired. They should be much more considerate and appreciate what they have. So regardless of the unhappy employees I like the store and their products. Thank you Moore's Flour Mill !!!!! We accidentally saw this place and were curious to walk into it. They have good collection of all grains and flours. My wife purchased the wheat flour, semolina, raw sugar. I also got a chamomile tea for me. This is definitely a place where we would love to come back again for all our baking needs.

They have everything you need to keep baking. I was thrilled to find whole wheat pastry flour. I wished I lived in Redding but will do a "drive by" when I come back through to stock up.

Wild flower honey! It's like crack, but healthier. I don't live in the area, so if I want to re-up up my supply, I either have to drive up there (and I hate driving up there (I also hate being up there, but that's a topic for another day)) or I must coerce one of my relatives to make a delivery. Please, keep me off of I-5 AND help me have as little contact as possible with my blood relations by starting an on-line ordering service.

This business is a top notch business. Their customers service and quality are always impressive to me. I would recommend them to anyone . We buy of our bulk items here. The savings our substantial.

Moore's Flour Mill is located in downtown Redding, CA. I recently got a bread machine and found that most all recipes for it call for "bread flour" which I have never heard of. My boyfriend's mom told me there is a flour store in Redding so I did some research and found Moore's Flour Mill. Moore's Flour Mill has a very rustic, turn-of-the-century atmosphere, The store is litereally right next to the mill where they make all of their products. How AWESOME is that? You can't get any fresher than that! They create everything from bread flour to multi grain cereals and oatmeals. I seriously dropped around thirty dollars there and I would do it again. I am very much a "health nut" and when I saw that they had a four grain cereal containing oats, whole grain, wheat and barley I spluged. And you know what? I was more than happy to give my money to this establishment. The woman who was working that day gave me a free product because I mentioned that is was my birthday! Very, very nice people. Oh, and don't be worried about the prices. It is maybe a LITTLE bit more expensive than your average supermarket but you simply CANNOT beat the quality. I found it very affordable. The most expensive thing I got was a ten grain pancake mix that cost me $6.99. Other than that the prices started at 1.99 and went up from there. I want all the bakers in Redding to know about Moore's Flour Mill. I definetely feel that it is Redding's secret stash of amazement.

Love this store! I have been buying here for years. Why would a person not want to buy 'freshly' ground grains! They only had whole flax seeds on one visit and the offered to grind them on the spot for me! Only a 4 star because they should offer more organic and a web site!!! All in all, check this local business out........they offer shipping boxes at holiday time, makes a great gift!

Beans, flours, grains, spices and mixes that are as promised -- no GMO and always fresh -- harvested in the year you buy it. A Redding institution, family owned since the 1800's! You can't find the variety of goods anywhere else. Ever cooked beans or a bean soup mix and they never get tender? They are old -- one or two seasons behind. Never at Moore's.

Oh, just writing this I can almost smell the shop again! Wonderful products, friendly staff! They have a variety of teas, spices, flours, oats, some snacks too! Definitely worth checking out.

Love, love, love this place! Premium products at a very reasonable price. I but the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and spices. The granola is amazing and I definitely recommend the fig bars.

Moore's Flour Mill is as GOOD AS IT GETS. It is wonderful. Moore's Flour Mill is an under discovered fortune, and goldmine for California cooks, and anyone whose tastes are spoiled, and crave fresh, whole foods. The selection, for home spun, local, small, NO GMO, business is amazing. Bread flours, gluten free flours, bread mixes, rices, beans, lots of different beans, ..coconut flour, rice bran, corn meal, southern grits.. is AMAZING. I had a question about making bread using their RYE flour. The owner quickly came out from the back and happily provided me with the most accurate of instructions. Shop here! I am will forever.

The place where Bob's Red Mill, of health food and Whole Foods fame, began, Moore's Flour Mill is a gem for anyone shopping for staples - from run-of-the-mill (!) flours to specialty items like gluten-free flours and xantham gum. The small store is teeming with whole grain products, and the prices are right too. Plus, the old, fading logo splashed on the building, high curbs, and wooden plank floors give off a feeling of stepping back to a time before superstores when Redding residents criss-crossed the railroad tracks to gather daily supplies. Don't leave without a bag of their homemade granola! EBT cards accepted.

They're a bit over priced, but at least they're not more than two $s. When I used to go in their store, I was always with my mother, except for a couple of times. Service was always very good! I go by there, once and awhile, but I was told that they've moved. Then I find out online, that according to their website, they're still there. Wish, I knew what days and hours, they're open.

I love this place for so many ingredients for banking, nuts, etc. Many assorted flours and grains.

I live a long way from Redding but if I will be driving through I will always time it so Moores will be open so I can stock up. Amazing line of spices, grains, beans, nuts, flours, pasta, cookbooks, honey, rice, and local products. I wish they had a store in the Bay Area, it is truly a Redding treasure. Prices are great too. The spices especially are far less expensive than supermarkets, nice big jars for less than $5. Try the bread machine mixes, you just dump them in with some water and turn it on. Wonderful! They need an online store for those of us out-of-towners.

Great quality! Friendly atmosphere and best of all, Mr. Moore makes sure his products are non-GMO! He just planted many acres of Organic corn along interstate 5 between Knighton Rd. exit and South Bonneview exit which will be used for his mill. A great way to support local business!

This was my second visit to Moore ' s. I bake all our bread and treats so the variety is great. Items I havent found in other stores they have here. The staff is very helpful and they have good prices. If you bake or make bread this is the place. I wish their Web site listed all the items they have for sale with descriptions. These days they need a good Web page and at least a FB page.

Everything is perfect about this store except they seriously need a website that includes "online shopping" which is a necessity for many. Love the fact that they now accept EBT cards, a "healthy" opportunity for all :)
