What to Eat at the New Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport

"Michael Gulotta’s bold Vietnamese meets Louisiana menu at MoPho across from Delgado sets a high bar and the MSY version is still ramping up when it comes to getting the pho just right. The space is beautiful, awash in bright colors and light wood. No contest on the order, the lemongrass ginger Thai chili mega-wings (and any of the bowls) will satisfy." - Beth D'Addono

Yelp
Pho at the airport...... heck yeah. So the price is pretty comparable to what you pay out in town. Little disappointed that they don't have spring rolls or egg rolls, but they have fried green beans. Not to bad with the special MOPHO mayo sauce. The star of the show was the pho, I eat a lot of pho all over the country and world so this got a 4/10 score. Not very flavorful with the provided herbs and had thin-sliced top round, meat balls, mushrooms, and shaved onions. I really enjoyed this dish. The meat balls have a weird texture but I broke them open and the broth in and it wasn't as bad. It is almost like they didn't drain all the water off of the noodles before combining them with the soup. Come and give them a shot you will be happy with a different take on airport food

Yelp
The asian in me made a pit stop cuz i was craving noodle soup. I knew prior to coming here that it was nowhere near authentic. I just needed my asian soup broth!!! You seat yourself and the waitress will come around to get your order. There was only one waitress when I was there so she was running around alot. Be patient. Ordered the beef pho. Again, it's not your authentic pho. But it was what I needed at the moment.

Yelp
The food was wonderful, but I had a couple of complaints. They won't accomodate to-go orders, which I feel is strange for an airport as people commonly do pick up food to eat on their flights. They also told us they had a full service bar but my friend tried to order a few different drinks and it seemed they were not able to make any of them. They seemed understaffed with just one person taking orders, putting thr cold/fresh toppings on the bowls, delivering food to tables, and taking payments, so the service was super slow and I had to ask for water multiple times. The veggie pho was very delicious, especially the veg broth which can sometimes be tasteless and bland. I really enjoyed this one and would definitely eat here again.

Yelp
Absolutely one of, if not the worst pho I ever had. I've had a few drinks at this point and this pho was still terrible. Extremely bland and the soup was luke warm. More noodles than broth. I believe this is only the airport location and the real location is much better. I will have to try the original location and report back next time I'm in town.

Yelp
As a frequent flyer, I love going to this place on the way to my gate. Jarlyn and Yeidy are great. Ask Yeidy to tell you a joke.
google avatar

Yelp
There was a lot of food but the shrimp was pretty bland. I would much rather have a smaller amount of food (especially when about to board a flight) with a lot more flavor. Some of the other options looked like they might be more flavorful and I could see myself trying the pho. Al in all...it was okay but disappointing by New Orleans standards.

Yelp
Food and service were fast. Not a large selection but everyone should find the 4 to be acceptable. Portion was just right and reasonably priced for an airport. I actually thought the food was very good compared to casino food in town. The decor tried to be upgraded to separate you from the typical airport setting. No touch menus were available as well. I'd want something flavorful, hot and tasty I would recommend. I liked it!

Yelp
The food was ok and not crazy overpriced for an airport. The service was nice but understaffed. I felt bad for the only waitress. There were a lot of people standing outside just watching the football game. The beers are expensive but that's to be expected. They were out of wings when I went.

Yelp
For an airport eatery I would say it's probably the best I've had in comparison to any other restaurants in an airport. The broth is very hearty, but yet satisfying. Original Pho broths are usually light and herbal. MoPho has its own twist and it's great. For the two times I've visited Nola, seems like they are always short handed, but the ladies that have helped service me were always in a positive attitude and try their very best in accommodating the customers. I've never had mushrooms or eggs in my pho before. I have to say it's an eggcelent way to combine different ingredients. I like that it is located centrally near the boarding gates and we can eat and wait without being too far when it comes to boarding time.

Yelp
When you're waiting at MSY airport and have a craving for something interesting and filling, try MoPho! We got the fried green beans (crispy and juicy with a little kick of garlic) and the fried shrimp Po-Mi, with MoPho mayo, cucumbers, jalapenos and pickled slaw -- crispy, warm, cool, spicy and everything in between. A nice way to leave New Orleans with a modern smashup of Vietnamese and New Orleans cuisine. Try MoPho - you won't be sorry!

Yelp
Honestly this is the best food in the airport The pho is tasty and not expensive for a large portion The service is good and it's way better than any of the high priced places there.

mike ..

Yelp
Pho was disgusting. The broth had zero flavor. I had to spit the meatball out. Mine had about a teaspoon of cinnamon in each meatball. Shrimp ban mi wasn't any better. The breaded shrimp pieces were salty and barely edible. The service matched the horrible food. We tried to get a chicken ban mi but were told they ran out. Everyone around us were ordering them and they were seated after us. Whoever opened this place has never eaten pho or a banmi in their life. Avoid this place at all cost.

Mike T.

Yelp
Worst pho I've ever tried. I wonder how many people eat more than two bites. Service was fine. Ambience ok for an airport.

Yelp
Considering every restaurant in the NOLA airport is rated below a 3 on Yelp! (Shake Shack and Emeril's included), you might think eating at the airport is a dicey prospect at best. MoPho is an airport kiosk from Michael Gulotta's mid city restaurant. Pretty limited menu. I got suckered by an old menu touting fried oyster banh mi sandwiches but that wasn't on the current menu. The beef pho broth was good and the rare steak was in fact, (appropriately) rare. Hate when the broth is so hot and beef so thin it's cooked through by the time it reaches you. It's a solid basic beef pho with home made meatballs, not the typical rubbery chewy stuff at a lot of corner or mall pho shops. Food came out fast and hot. Service was par and prices what you'd expect for dining at the airport. You could do worse in the airport I suppose, but in all a good experience.

Chris a.

Yelp
The service here is horrific. The wall is literally engraved with lettering saying you can order to go, but when I reached the front of the line I was told by a staff member that they do not accept to go orders. Bummer for an airport!

Yelp
The server Karen was very rude. Our flight was to board in about 45 minutes or so. We sat in the restaurant area, we were only seated for a few minutes when she came by and asked if we were ready to order. We planned on ordering some food to hold us over on our long flight. After a few minutes with her, we ended up not ordering any food at all. Our experience/conversation was as follows. *sits at 4 top table, there's two of us* Karen: "Are you ready to order?" Us: "Oh no, we're not y--" Karen: *snaps* "Well you can't sit here if you aren't ordering anything" *doesn't wait for a response and immediately walks off*" *returns about 5 mins later* Karen: "So are you guys ready?" Us: " Can I have a coke and a Pinot Grigio" Karen: "The Seeker?" Us: "No, the Inscription please" Karen: "That one is really expensive, you probably want the Seeker" Us: "Okay, sure, I'll take The Seeker" Karen: "Okay, and food?" Us: "We don't know yet, we also have a short wait for our plane to--" Karen: "If you are not ordering anything else, then just give me my table back" Needless to say, we didn't stay after that. We went to the nearest stand, and got some snacks to hold us over for our flight.

Yelp
Thank you MoPho! Prompted by the hubby to eat here and after looking at some of the reviews, I braced for the worst. Someone promptly came to take out order (not a lot of people on a Tuesday afternoon) which was nice. We both ordered The Sober Me Up Pho because it seemed to have a lot of stuff in it. The wait was not long and our broth was hot when it arrived. In summary, The Sober Me Up Pho was delicious. It tasted homemade, with the right amount of seasoning and fresh tasting ingredients. We could taste the fried garlic (we love garlic) and the braised beef shank was legit. I also appreciated that they used paper bowls and wood chopsticks (biodegradable).

Yelp
Tasty pho! Great place for a quick meal in B terminal of the airport since A terminal has no food options. Wish they had more menu options like appetizers but think it's limited due to Covid. A bit expensive for the portion but typical for airport prices. Seems like many of the places in the airport are Pepsi pours too :( Also I think the beef pho was supposed to have meatballs & mushrooms & mine did not
google avatar

Kimberly W.

Yelp
Service was quick and friendly. Ordered the beef pho. It was probably my mistake hoping it would taste more traditional. It was very confusing with mushrooms and diced beef chunks with spaghetti meatballs. The broth had zero aromatics. Tasted like a warmed up can of beef broth with a can of mushroom juices and funky spices. I drenched it in sriracha to tone down the awfulness. Would not recommend. Food was a 1/5 sporks.

Yelp
The fried shrimp po-mi was delicious, overstuffed, and exactly what I needed to end my trip. The hot sausage was ok but not as good as the fried shrimp. There was one server for the entire restaurant and every table was taken. My heart went out to her, I assume this is pandemic related. We had plenty of time but we were there at least 30-40 minutes. Customers around us were antsy. I'll be back for that sandwich. *Request to add Crystal sauce for the poboys, please!
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
I purchased a drink only and wasn't "allowed" to sit there and drink it. In order to sit, food was required. Don't stop here, go somewhere else. There were plenty of seats for one at the bar, and I tip well so that $20 was her loss. Wouldn't have been so bad if bar tender hadn't been so extremely rude. I feel sorry for her. I was so tempted to order something and leave zero tip just for the rudeness. BUT I'm a better human than that.

Yelp
Pretty dinging area with vibrant colors and creative swing chairs but the food did not impress. We ordered beef pho and chicken pho. The beef was too tough and over cooked without much flavor. The meatballs were tender and soft but flavor wise weren't my favorite. The onions were a bit too raw. And the broth did not have much flavor unless m drenched in sriracha and lime. The chicken was boiled and white with no flavor. Half way through our meal we noticed we didn't get the herb basket with toppings like bean sprouts and jalapeños. Adding those did enhance the flavor. The chicken pho broth did have more flavor but I liked the beef meat better.

Yelp
the service hear is terrible. I sat for over 15 minutes and watched the staff chat with each other. finally ordered and the food sat on the kitchen window for a long time before it was brought to me. they don't even care. I'm sure the food is adequate if only I could get it brought to me. sigh!!

Yelp
My pho was very mid especially compared to everything else I ate in New Orleans but the service was great!!

Yelp
Worst airport dining (non)experience ever! I had to ask the older white woman a question, regretted that instantly. They were not very busy as it was just about 1045 to 1100. Plenty of seats & tables open. So, after I sat, I read the menu & decided what I wanted. The older white woman walked past me, ignored me 5 times. There was a younger black woman, but she was bringing food or drinks each time. But, she also never hesitated to say anything to me. Neither woman looked my way; said they'd be right there...or squat. I'm most annoyed by the white woman because she spoke to me, & walked behind me as I seated myself. So, she has absolutely no excuse to just be kind & greet customers. I sat there for nearly 15 minutes waiting, & waiting, & waiting more. I got fed up & just went back to the gate I was leaving from. Everyone that follows me, knows my Pho trek. This was a complete failure. I do not like having to leave a negative review. However, this place only deserves the one star, & it's strictly for how well the black woman cared for the customers she had. Glad I don't have to worry about ever returning, because I won't ever darken their location again.

Yelp
I can't believe this is airport food. It's hard to do high volume food this good. You're still in an airport with massive crowds so you have to wait your turn but it is delicious.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Not gonna lie, I wanted to hate it because it's not real pho in any way, but it does seem to be the best option in the airport. The pho is just so confusing. It's like a ramen/pho hybrid which makes it a not good version of either. Also, the wait staff seems to not be able to tell that you want to order from you sitting there. Not the worst place, not the worst food, just okay.

Mr. T.

Yelp
this is one of the worst pho places I have ever eaten at, this is not your traditional pho restaurant. I ordered a beef pho and it came out with four golf ball sized meatballs, the meat balls taste like they where cooked right out of the freezer. Service was fine they where nice The Ambiance is fine
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
I am no expert on this type of food, but this is really good. I've just spent a few days in New Orleans eating Cajun Creole food, and I needed a little change. This broth noodle meat bowl is really nice.

Yelp
Seated for 20 minutes, so we tried to order at the bar and the server said they'll be right with us. 20 minutes later, the server seated more groups and proceeded to serve them water and take their food orders without stopping by the table.

Yelp
this shit was fire. i didnt expect it to be much because i have has a lot of different pho's from a lot of different places. but to my absolute surprise this pho was very good. i got the beef pho and the meat was very tender and the meatballs were very good as well. service was very good too. quick and sweet. i woulda posted a picture of the food if i remembered but i ate it before i did. i think this is a must if you are ever in the NOLA airport. i will be coming back if i am ever here again.

Yelp
Rude wait staff! I tried to purchase a non-alcoholic beverage and sit at a table. Was told I'm not welcome unless I purchase alcohol. Glad to know they're promoting alcoholism. It's understandable if you need to make a purchase to sit down but this policy is ridiculous.
google avatar

Yelp
For your Pho fix this is the place. Nice bar with great drinks. Friendly service Worth a try
google avatar

Lea J.

Yelp
For being airport food the pho is okay. But it's definitely no way near traditional pho. I would skip this place and just get fries somewhere. The service is really good tho.

Asheville H.

Yelp
Best airport food I've maybe ever had. Excellent vegetarian options and just delicious vegetarian pho! Wifey had the breakfast hot sausage po-mi and it was excellent (per her) Larry our bartender was a gem. Can't lose!
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
Of the bad choices at the airport, this one is less bad. Airport restaurants, named after others, in New Orleans proper, are a million miles from the real deal. The closest you'll come to the real Mofo is watching much better food on the screen next to the kitchen, that you will NECER see in this Delaware North run POS. They put drinks in the menu. They have a bar. Can you get them? "They don't exist" says the surly server. We asked for extra sprouts for our pho. It set off a competition between the two servers to see who was going to be stuck walking the 12 feet to our table. Sadly, this is good eatin at MSY.
google avatar

Rhianna J.

Yelp
Me and my girlfriends where on the way to our flight and decided to stop for a drink at Mophos! We sat for about 5-6min got zero service. Then decided to go to the bar I was stopped and told to go sit back down because if I was at a table she wouldn't serve me at the bar. Then I was approached by a manager who came to the table asking if we were just sitting here or where we actually going to buy food or drinks. While we where sitting at the table with our ids out, because a server had asked us what we wanted and then asked for our ids and walked off and never returned! I have never had this wild or a service experience and I'm very sad that this happened at my local airport that I frequent between 8-10 times a year!
google avatar

Johnny M.

Yelp
The fried shrimp Po-mi was worth it for an airport. Shrimp was a heavier breading than I prefer. But, tasted good on the sandwich with the sauce. We got our fried chicken wings with sauce on the side since it was a sweet sauce. The wings were very good. The are pricey $16.50 for six wings. That's almost three bucks a wing.
google avatar

Ryan B.

Yelp
Good Pho for an airport. The server did a great job handling an understaffed restaurant.

Ashley M.

Yelp
This place felt tailor made to hungover people leaving New Orleans in shambles with the shakes, like myself. The smell of burgers, eggs, and hot dogs had me unbearably nauseous, and I was desperate for something to settle my stomach. Enter this place. Everyone there was still decked out in their Bourbon Street beads and hats, sipping broth in silence and just barely holding on. It felt bonding. Considering airport food is, and never will be, a revolutionary culinary experience, always extremely over priced, and mediocre service at best, this place was pretty good for what it is. Therefor this is an airport rating, not a real life restaurant rating. It was about 9:45 am, and I ordered the Morning Refresher pho, a chicken broth based pho with chicken thighs, kale, mushrooms, vermicelli noodles, and a soft boiled egg (was not soft boiled, but boiled) which makes it breakfast. It came out in about 1 minute, so not cooked with love, but with convenience, and that's fine by me in an airport. Was it real genuine pho? Nope, but that warm buttery broth calmed my stomach enough to get on a 1 hour flight without barfing, and that's all that matters. It did cost $19 which was painful, but that's about the price of a beer at this point.
google avatar

Robby M.

Yelp
The broth for my pho was delicious and there was plenty of meat and noodle, but I was really missing the fresh herbs, lime and peppers because the girl responsible for chopping them up didn't show today. Short-staffed, our server was boogie-shoeing it all over the place to keep up with the custom, and he never let us down. Kudos, man, I hope the rest of your day picked up! This is the airport MoPho, not the restaurant, by the way. I'd definitely come back, but I was still disappointed by the lack of herbs. Next time, eh? Reading other reviews, it seems they might be having growing pains or are just not going to be the best place to get fed. I certainly hope it's the former...good luck!

Yelp
Really not good. Service: About the only good thing - the bartender/waitress was friendly and fast. Food: Bad. At first sight, the pho seemed like it would be good, but it was not very fresh and after a few mouthfuls began to leave an unpleasant lingering taste in the mouth. It really didn't sit well with either of us during our flight (or afterwards). Price: A little on the high side and definitely not worth it I wouldn't go back next time I pass through - I'd prefer to go hungry with peanuts on a flight.

Lao Y.

Yelp
open but no one there to take order, other customers were waiting also. We and other customers left. This is a go to places if you suck. Never again to to this place if in New Orlean airport.

B A.

Yelp
Don't sleep on this place. We got the crispy chicken vindaloo po mi. It's basically fried chicken tenders in vindaloo sauce and served as a banh mi sandwich. Absolutely delicious and our server Michelle was very friendly. Gonna have to look for MoPho at home!

Yelp
Probably the best airport pho you'll find. This is a Modern Vietnamese American with some Cajun influence, so be prepared. The restaurant is smack in the middle of the southwest B gate terminal and has 6 or so flat screens in the center of the restaurant. It's a great place to kill some time, if you can find a place to sit. This place definitely deserves more than 2 stars. Traditional pho 4/5 This is a beef broth, noodle soup with onions, green onions, pork, and meatballs. I've had my fair bit of pho, but not sure if I've seen served with spaghetti meatballs or braised pork before. This is probably the Louisiana influence. The broth was good, little sweeter than I've seen elsewhere, but it is not over salted Crispy wings 4.5/5 These were one of the best Asian styled wings I've had. It's surprising because it was from an airport location. They sauce it with a sweet garlic sauce and it is strong, just how I prefer. For a place that serves their soup with plastic forks and spoons, this is a surprise.

Yelp
Ugh I should have looked at the reviews first. First of all, the bartender seemed like she hated life. I asked her what drinks were good and she just shrugged. Didn't offer a menu or anything, just avoided eye contact and putzed around. Ended up getting the weakness mule ever and then she just went to sit with her friend at the kitchen across the restaurant after my food came. Got the "sober me up". Meal served on all disposable stuff, including the bowl. "Basket of herbs" more like a sack of dead looking bean sprouts mixed up with cilantro.. Real pho the broth should be hot. It wasn't even hot enough to cook the poached egg which was definitely under done. This is the worst "pho" I've ever had the displeasure of tasting. The flavors are lacking any sort of depth and the beef "shank" and bacon just both tasted like rehydrated meat. Very little noodles too, which was the only decent thing. For $15?! Should have just gone to shake shack.
google avatar

Toan D.

Yelp
One of the worst bowl of Pho I've ever had. Instant rice noodles bathe in a broth that resembled an oil spill off the Gulf of Mexico. Onions cut to the size of my head and meat a grade above jerky tender. Good fast service and clean atmosphere.

Yelp
Interesting place, fusion pho as it advertise. The appetizer queso was great. Good beer selection with full bar, and somewhat Vietnamese cuisine. Interesting menu items and beef pho was not bad. South of the city park, easy to get to. A tad pricey and the veggies were not the best, but must try place!
