11 Top-Notch Italian Restaurants Around Phoenix

"Celebrity chef and James Beard award-winner Scott Conant moved from New York to Phoenix in 2017 to open Mora, his loud, buzzy take on Italy’s neighborhood osterias, and diners fell in love. A huge, center-stage bar and an eye-popping, Italian-themed mural set the let’s-have-fun tone, which is reinforced with clever cocktails and Italian dishes that feel traditional-yet-modern, casual-yet-elevated. Start things off with focaccia di recco (Italy’s airy kissing cousin to Arizona’s cheese crisp) before moving on to pasta, pizza, and inventive main courses such as Calabrian black cod, harissa-spiced salmon, or roasted chicken with gnocchi alla Romana." - Nikki Buchanan

Omg! Felt so guilty to have so much food to eat. Outstanding for value. We had the "Chef sample menu" ( I think that's what they called it). Scott Conant ( judge from Chopped) did an incredible job as usual. His staff was amazing and service was outstanding. Unfortunately, we are always sitting at a small table next to a large group. ( This has happened more than once). It was very noisy after they had a few drinks. Table was too small to have 3 dishes served at one time but it was an incredible experience, nevertheless. Remember, if you order this menu, take small bites of everything or you will get full fast. We took home 10 different servings as left overs and had 2 extra meals ( for 2)out of it. Tip your waiter generously because he will spend 3 hours just on your table. That's how long it took for dinner with a 5:15pm dinner reservation on a Saturday. It was worth it for sure! Thank you Scott for bring back this chef sample menu!

Def recommend Mora Italian. The atmosphere is very chic. We started off with drinks and appetizers. I had the “I’ve just got a lot going on” drink and also the Drunken Wifey. Both great cocktails. For appetizers we had the pork belly and the meat balls. Both were so delicious and full of flavor. For dinner we shared the funghi pizza, tagliatelle, and the pork chops. All were good but I was expecting more flavor from the pizza. I just felt like I was eating bread and mushrooms. There was no taste of cheese or sauce in it. But other than that everything else was great.

I love Mora. Everything I have had has been delicious. Service is great. Easy to get on a reservation list, whi h i suggest for busy nights and weekends. The menu is all good. I haven't had everything, but everything is worth trying. I've not been disappointed yet. Price is typical for an upscale, trendy place to eat. The atmosphere is hip and fun. There is no need to dress up, but it may feel better if you do. This is great for birthdays and girls' night out. Full bar and bar seating. The only sad part is that the menu has seasonal items, and you can only get things at certain times. So when you come back, sometimes, the menu may be different, and that one thing you were hoping for is not there and out of season.

My chef nephew came in to town for a visit and when I asked him to select a good place for dinner he suggested Mora Italian. I love some good Italian food so I was excited to try them. The restaurant is well decorated, inviting and open. The staff are on a different level, I’m not kidding they were amazing and treated us like VIP’s. My wife and I my nephew and niece met up for dinner and my wife and I got there a bit early. The staff was overly friendly and offered to seat us and then were just nice. My nephew ordered the calimari appetizer and they enjoyed it. My nephew had one of the pastas, my niece had the pork chop, my wife had three salmon and they all said their food was very good. I ordered the half chicken and it was delicious and had some fantastic flavors. My only negative comment is the half chicken part, I was given plenty of food and had leftovers so it’s not the quality but it didn’t seem like half a chicken. Maybe rename it to just roasted chicken? A minor complaint that has no bearing on the quality of the food or the perfect service we received. I had a coffee at the end as they had desert. It may have been the best coffee I’ve been had. Just coffee with sweetener and cream was so good. My bio and nephew each got the tiramisu and my wife had some salted caramel budino custard dessert that I had a taste of. Very good and very rich. I want to thank Mora Italian for a great dinner with my niece and nephew. I would love to go back again and try more menu selections.

The first time we went to Mora was a 5 star experience. We loved the food, the ambience, the cocktails. Even though we had a long wait on delivery of food that almost made us late for our concert, the food was phenomenal enough for us to return again 5 months later to celebrate another special occasion. That experience factors into my rating. Food was burned, not charred. Service was incredibly slow and we were overall disappointed by the inconsistency between our first and second experience.

The food was amazing. Dishes were served fast, even during a busy time. Service was exceptional. Free valet. Definitely do reservations here. We had a great dinner experience.

Our server Justin was fantastic. Very personable and open. He made us laugh and even offered to make me new food because I didn’t like all the arugula. TJ was also very sweet even offering us dessert on the house!!! Overall great atmosphere and wonderful service for me and my husband to enjoy our date night!!!

Google
This was our first time at Mora Italian. The meal did not disappoint!! Our server Eric provided outstanding recommendations and service! All of the dishes from appetizer to dessert provided well balanced flavors and excitement! Of particular note is the Fiorentini Verde, which is a dish I will not forget. I’ve dinned at a number of celebrity chef restaurants and Mora is definitely up there at the top! I will be back next time I’m in the Phoenix area. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Yelp
The best pasta! The spaghetti is the best! I'm so bummed out they closed this location. The vibe, drinks and food were on point!

Yelp
We waited too long to try Mora. We have been to Americano a few times and it was always great. If you can do the $75 5 course menu. You will have more than enough food and plenty to take home after. The "5" courses was two salads, two apps, three pastas, entree with two sides, and dessert!! We couldn't believe the amount of food that kept coming out for the two of us and was full after the apps. But everything has great flavor. Service was good. Music wasn't too loud. It takes a lot for an Italian place to really wow me but this one did. Definitely going back.

Yelp
Cute little Italian place in Arcadia. Due to the location, parking is a little tricky. They have a valet spot for your convenience. This is a great place to go if you have a large dinner party. It is very trendy inside. There are plenty of tables indoor and on the patio. The staff are all friendly. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt welcome. I started with Versace on 7th. It looked like a dole whip drink. Very tasty. I ended up ordering 2 more during dinner. Highly recommend. I ordered the Waygu bolognese. Sounded really fancy, but tasted no different from a regular bolognese. I also ordered the half chicken. Beautiful presentation and it tasted decent. Very comforting. It wasn't the best chicken I had but it was not the worst. Overall, my party had a great time. The service was good. Food came out pretty quick and tasted good. It definitely a place I will keep in mind if I'm in the area again.

Yelp
Finally got to check out Mora Italian last weekend! i was very excited to do so, as I have heard great things and a My husband and I went on a double date with our SIL + BIL, so was a great evening for a date night or special occasion. They only have valet, which is complimentary. I am not a huge fan of valet personally, but do understand, as the parking is limited at the midtown location. The atmosphere was very fun, modern, definitely inspo from Rome with graffiti artwork. They also have an open kitchen if you ar interested in watching the team from pizza to pastries. We were promptly greeted and seated. I ordered Versace on 7th, which is a vodka based martini with olive oil foam. It was super unique and though I do not lean towards vodka, the ingredients really intrigued me and I definitely enjoyed it. It was a tad sweeter than I would normally go for, but with the richness of the olive oil and the natural herbs, it was very enjoyable. They have a unique cocktail menu with ample options! I only had one, but definitely saw some others that caught my eye. They also made a classic Lemon drop for my SIL and my husband got their version of an old fashion, he did say it was on the sweeter side. After perusing the menu, which had ample options from starters, salads, pizza's entrees, pastas and side. My group wanted to do the coursed meal they had. The menu lists that its priced for two, but the whole table has to partake if ordered, so by majority we rolled with it. At this time it was 5 courses for 190 per couple. They did not list what was included on the menu, a server did have to walk us through it, but from what I recall it included L Focaccia di Recco, Little Gems salad, crab salad, baby beets salad, polenta cremosa, calamari, three pastas including, the fettuccini, pomodora, fiorenti verde , steak and lobster tail, broccolini and their sundae fundae Needless to say we basically rolled out of there. It was a wonderful line up of great food. There were definitely a few stand outs such as the polenta, the focaccia, beet salad and fiorenti verde. Personally, i would prefer to scale it back on price point and food. It was delightful and they do portion it, but its a LOT of food and a lengthy experience. i would prefer smaller portions or just a few less options at a lower price point. I did opt for tiramisu instead of the sundae fundae, which the service was kind enough to accomodate for me! The sunda fundae is meant for two and is very cute, they have a cart they roll around FULL of different toppings. They do only have ONE cart though, so the rest of the table waited about 15-20 minutes on desert because of this. In addition, the ice cream seems like standard soft serve, so not as impressive or tasty as it could be. Overall, was a lovely meal, great atmosphere, lovely service and we left full and happy.

Yelp
Great tasting menu, but come hungry! If you want the chef to determine your meal, this is a nice option to let the kitchen bring you a variety of courses. The photo and video below do not capture everything included, but there's salads, appetizers, pastas, focaccia, sides and a main to share family style. I think this is a good option for 4-6 people. Although next time I go back, I rather select my own courses. All the dishes were yummy, but there's some that are better than others. For example, the chicken as the main was okay, but not great. The frito misto had more vegetables than calamari and shrimp in it. I was surprised by how much we enjoyed the polenta cremosa - it is creamy, cheesy and has truffle seasoned mushrooms. The pastas are really the star here. We had the pomodoro, fettuccine, and fiorentini verde. The pasta is freshly made and the sauces are simple, flavorful and balanced. I especially enjoyed the pomodoro and fettuccine. Both are vegetarian options if you do not want or like meat/seafood. I would like to try their pizza, since I enjoyed the focaccia a lot. The service is good, but it can get busy so you may have to wait a little before your server comes back to you.

Yelp
I absolutely love the decor in this restaurant. It's beautiful! I'm huge on attention to detail and this restaurant checked all the boxes. This was our first time eating at this restaurant and it was restaurant week. My husband and I both participated. The service was top notch. I loved that our server described each dish in great detail as the food runner was serving them to us. We started with the bread basket which came with three different spreads. It was probably one of my favorite items. Next was the MISTICANZA salad. Which had mixed greens, shaved baby vegetables, lemon vinaigrette, gorgonzola. For my entrée, I chose the rigatoni. It was wagyu bolognese, pancetta, fontina fonduta. My husband had the pasta Pomodoro with meatballs. We enjoyed our meals very much. I would have given this restaurant five stars because of food and service, but I definitely felt like the regular menu items were pretty pricey. For example, the bread basket if you ordered it on its own was $20.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday with my finance and parents at Mora. We were greeted with complimentary champagne, the sweetest service, of course amazing homemade pasta and a delicious dessert. It was the perfect way to celebrate with family Can't wait to go back

Yelp
We came here last night for what turned out to be a $500-plus dinner for six. I did not enjoy it, will not be returning and here is why: The restaurant is very dark and the drinks menu is in such small type you cannot really see it. Our party of six was given two different dinner menus. Some people saw fish on their menus and some didn't. One changed her order after she realized there was fish. Seems like it would be good to have one menu. Wagyu rigatoni was a major disappointment. I couldn't find the waygu beef. I looked at some photos online of others who had order this and it looked entirely different. Mine had nothing but al dente rigatoni with practically no sauce whereas the one in the photo had lots of sauce. Did you forget to put it on mine? It tasted awful - just a bunch of stiff pasta. Lot of people seemed to be enjoying themselves so maybe it's just me.

Yelp
Always a good meal here and happy hour is legit. I will say the one thing you just know is they don't have tap handles or anything from a dispenser it's all bottled canned or glassed! Wife and I went to enjoy each others company prior to a week serving our youth from church in Cali. We really enjoyed the food and will definitely come back as HH is really good here.

Yelp
Went to Mora while visiting a friend in Phoenix. The location is very large with seating both inside and outside. We were there during restaurant week which included three courses, and we added on from there. The cocktails were so fun and tasty, my favorite was the Versace. A must order is the flatbread with ricotta! I'm still thinking about it days later. Meatballs were also great, as well as the rigatoni bolognese. I will definitely be visiting again in the future!

Yelp
We ate at Mora this evening. We wouldn't return because of the notable bad service and when we talked to a manager about our poor experience, she just said sorry we are busy and brushed off our frustration without any acknowledgment. Let me backtrack. We were served by a man with blonde hair and glasses near the bar. I have worked in service industry for many years and we have grace for busy. I don't expect to see our server all the time. However, when your food drops and you don't see your server for an hour and have to go to the bar for water, your drinks never hit the table and you can't ask for anything your whole meal, that's unfortunate. It is also frustrating that the tables near us received pretty good consistent service, so it wasn't a busy thing, it was our server. The manager at the end of our meal came by and asked how things were and we said, food was great but the service was non existent. She sadly brushed off our comment with zero acknowledgment. We believe that you shouldn't just complain to complain and if you have an issue always talk to a manager to give an opportunity to make the situation right. We tried and this experience, after paying for a babysitter, fell short.

Yelp
I was really excited to try this place as it came highly recommended by my sister. Unfortunately it really fell short for me and I will explain why. First off, we made a reservation for 8 pm. We were celebrating a special occasion + birthday so we made sure to do this with plenty of time in advance. We arrived about 20 minutes early and we let the host know we were there early but were happy to wait until our reservation time. The restaurant was very busy on Friday night so we were patient and understanding when it took 20 minutes past our reservation time to get seated. When we sat down, a waiter let us know that he would be taking our drink order and that our actual waiter will be coming around later to take our order. This guy looked super flustered and did the bare minimum the entire time. I understand that it is a busy night, but look at the prices people are paying to dine at your restaurant. I think at the bare minimum you can deliver decent service. We ordered a bottle of wine, and only the first glass was poured for us. Once the bottle was done, no one came around to ask if we wanted another, or maybe a different cocktail. You're missing out on money people!! I will say all of our food came out at a decent time, and very very hot. So at least they were on top of inputting orders and running the food in a timely manner. The same guy ended up taking care of our table for the duration of our meal. After our plates were dropped off, we did not see him again. We ordered the focaccia to start and WOW. This was definitely the star of the night. Its huge but lasted a total of two minutes on the table haha we loved it! For my entrée I ordered the pomodora pasta. Honestly had very little flavor.. maybe if I would have added a protein it would have been better. After we were done eating, a different server showed up and asked if we needed anything and let us know he would be taking over the service. We asked him for the desert menu and he said right away and never actually came back with it. My sisters fiance ended up going up to him to close out the tab and we went and had dessert at home. I think this is probably a decent restaurant and we were just unlucky with the service. Regardless, I will not be back.

Yelp
I had heard great reviews of Mora when I lived in PHX but never made my way over. When my Fiancé and I were back in town, we finally gave it a shot and our experience was underwhelming, a "meh" feeling. Our server, I believe his name was Austin, was attentive and went over the menu and gave us the specials for the night. We started off with Burrata. The cheese was ok and the prosciutto was soft. The bread didn't seem very toasted, it reminded me of white bread that was toasted for a minute and rips when you try to spread a condiment on it. We also got the Brussels Sprouts - this was a decent side dish, crispy Brussels topped with cheese. The rigatoni was subpar. It was described to be a wagyu bolognese but to be honest, it tasted like Hamburger Helper. I actually like Hamburger Helper but for $34 for this dish, I expected more. I felt like we paid 12x for someone to serve us this box meal. Next up was the Fruitti di Mare. I will order this dish 99% of the time if I see this on a menu but perhaps this should have been the 1% I pass on it. Upon first glance, it looks great - shrimp, clams, and pasta! But as I dug in, I found pieces of clam shell throughout the dish. The shells of the clams looked to have been broken or smashed and I found myself eating very carefully as to not choke on a shell piece. Aside from the shell part, the dish was tasty and the seafood was cooked well. Overall, this was an ok experience. I would pass on this as I feel there are better Italian restaurants in the valley.

Yelp
So happy I finally made my way over here! Mora is SUCH a fun spot. The decor inside and outside is amazing - lots of potential for fun photos!!! We also had great service, even coming later in the day. Our server was really kind and patient, especially with my friend who is partially deaf. Everything we tried was also delightful!!! The starters, the veggies, the main courses... just amazing and SUPER tasty! The menu is huge- I can't wait to come back soon and try the desserts!

Yelp
Ah Scott Conant. Your famously wind tunnel tested coiffed hair and variegated open collar disco shirts with your chest hair proudly poking through was not enough to make your staff capable of running a great operation in your absence. I will preface this review with context: my husband and I have eaten at many "TV Chef" flagship restaurants such as Buddy V's in Vegas, Gordon Ramsay Steak, Gordon Ramsay Burger, Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill, and we enjoy trying places like this. That said, we also like good food and feeling like we as customers are a priority for the short time we visit. When we arrived at 8:15 for an 8:30 reservation we were seated at the bar to wait for our table. I had a $17 drink called a 951 which was beautiful to look at with a fresh Rosemary sprig lovingly placed across the glass rim. Unfortunately it tasted like the back of my Italian grandmother's shoe closet, kind of leathery and lotiony all at once but not entirely undrinkable just WEIRD. Here's the kind of person I am: it was $17. I slurped that m'fer like it was delicious. Another note: I've wanted to come here forever - I like watching Chef Conant on TV and when we go to places like this i like to buy that chef's cookbook etc. it's a whole thing. So my hubby surprised me with finally taking me here and I wanted it to be wonderful in appreciation for him and the trouble he went through to keep it secret and get me out of work and the house for a culinary escape he was sure we'd love. He's the best husband. Red flag 1: shortly before 8:30, the bartender unapologetically served my husband the LAST PERONI in the building with no other similar beer available. First world problems yes but when you come out to a place like this you expect them not to out of the only Italian beer there at 8:30 on a Saturday night. We got seated pretty much on time and we're taken to a tiny table for two. Fine, but there were larger tables empty and clean and no more reservations were being seated in many of them. Our server Blaine was earnest and sweet, and helped us quickly get our food orders in. We got the polenta cremata as a starter- which was spectacularly creamy and mushroom forward. We were so optimistic for the rest of the meal based on the starter. My husband doesn't usually LOVE polenta but this was really creamy and smooth. Very, very well done. For dinner, Hubby ordered the pork chop parmigiana and I ordered the pasta Campanelle, which was clams, shrimp, calamari with squid ink pasta w/ basil breadcrumbs. I was immediately disappointed with the first bite of a hard, rubbery piece of overcooked and flavorless shrimp. (shrimp w no flavor! How'd ya DO that?!) the pasta managed to be over cooked and also have zero flavor and no sauce or broth to speak of. Tasted a calamari tentacle, again no flavor. Literally reminded me of eating while having Covid and my taste buds all died a hasty death and everything tasted like cardboard. I was so disappointed. My husband's pork chop looked great on top but the bottom was so burned and solid black that the bite he gave me to try was not even chewable. I don't know how he ate this charred ass piece of meat but he was starving and knew my food was worse so he took one for the team. I was given a menu again to choose another dish; and asked Blaine if perhaps I could get a piece of bread in the meantime. (The bread at Mora is supposed to be house made and is $20 as a starter.) We deliberately didn't order bread because we wanted to try the pasta and a dessert but now I was feeling hungry and a little cranky. Blaine said he could try to get one (dude is Peroni and Bread RATIONED here?!). The bread never came til my new entree, rigatoni with Wagyu bobognese, made its arrival. And the bread was twice toasted with nothing on the side, no olive oil etc... everything was so begrudgingly done, it felt like. The rigatoni was dead ass RAW. I love aldente, but when the pasta is so toothsome you taste raw flour it's not okay. They rushed the remake and it was absolute shite. I was so upset and talked to Blaine again. He was sympathetic and apologized profusely. A manager never even came to talk to us. My husband did also tell Blaine about the pork but that he had to eat something, he was just so hungry. Blaine took the pasta dishes and pork off the bill, which was done so quickly it made me wonder how often this happens. Blaine and the valet, David, were the only good things about our visit, so we tipped well and skipped dessert. Never, ever again. They had two chances to do their specialty (pasta) right and failed miserably. The bad food coupled with the apathy from management told us all we need to know about this money grab cashing in on a TV chef's fame. Scott's chest hair would NOT approve.

Yelp
Came back about a year later to celebrate my husband's birthday. He was really excited to get the Giro di Mora (5 course tasting menu) again. The good: The 5 course meal is such GOOD VALUE. If you love large portions, being able to try a variety of dishes, and having tons of leftovers after, this is for you. For $69/pp you get 12 different dishes. We even had leftovers enough for 3 more meals that we ate at home. We got to add an Argentinian steak for an additional $25 total and it was huge and tasty. Such a good deal. The service was amazing as we remembered. Everyone was super kind, friendly, attentive and every dish was explained. There was a a disappointment that was addressed in the right way. Areas for improvement: During course 2, we got an extremely salty polenta dish, I almost gagged on it as it was so salty. They respectfully replaced it with a different dish that was better. Unfortunately, many of the dishes were salty as well after - the server ended up not charging us for the steak add on so we were happy about that! We actually do plan to return and will just ask if it's possible to go light on the salt on all dishes next time. I feel like the quality of food has gone down. Last time the polenta with meatballs was so good! Instead of chicken, there was a whole branzino. I understand seasonal menu changes though so it's fine, just feels as though we are getting less value than before. And same as last time, the ice cream sundae at the end was underwhelming - a different dessert such as a slice of cake, a individual tart, panna cotta, etc seems more appropriate. Even so, we will come back since the service was so good and my husband is a big eater that loves huge portions lol

Yelp
Mora offered an upscale atmosphere for dining & socializing...very attractive & super chic. We dined here for a Birthday Dinner, which is over all good food and decent service. We wished a few things would have happened to improve the [Lux] dining experience. The two staff members waited on our table were somehow switched out -- we didn't know their names nor we were informed -- it was odd! The first bottle of wine we order (Rose to start out) was not available (not yet chilled & would take about 10 mins to chill it). We opted for a second choice. We got a different staff at this point. As we ordered main course, we ordered a bottle of red wine -- it was also not available. At this point, we need to make a suggestion to have the wine list updated accordingly. There was also some of mis-understanding between the staff and manager about a "free dessert" for the Birthday person, not like we couldn't afford to pay for dessert -- it was pretty weird! In sum, we enjoyed the experience with our friends but definitely better without these hiccups.

Yelp
Definitely has become a favorite now! First time visiting this restaurant and it did not disappoint. When you drive up, they have valet parking only. The restaurant is very beautiful, they have an open kitchen style so you can see the chefs cooking. We went for a birthday, as noted on our reservation, and it was great to see that they acknowledged that from the beginning. We ordered our drinks and food and everything was delicious! I ordered the Pasta al Pomodoro and the What's in the Box cocktail. The drink was brought in a box but once opened, you just take it and it's a regular drink. To share, we had our server surprise us with one of his favorite pizzas which ended up being the Smoked Pancetta. They also ended up giving us the salted caramel budino as the birthday dessert and it was amazing! Will definitely come back to celebrate other occasions.

Yelp
Very modern atmosphere with an open kitchen and a large bar! They have an awesome selection of wine and cocktails. We started with the focaccia di recco and did not love it. It was slightly undercooked and very soggy. For entrees, we had the fiorentini verde and the black Campenelle. The noodles were hand made and extremely fresh. The seafood in the campenelle was fresh, too! The Fiorentini didn't have much flavor but it was a large portion size. For dessert, we had the banana froster bread pudding and it was HUUGE! The bread piece was so thick - that being said, it wasn't overly saucey. Would go back to try the pizza.

Yelp
Pretty fancy ambiance and good for special occasions. They thankfully have their own parking lot aswell. Went in for my husband's birthday dinner date. Food was good but quantity was pretty disappointing. I tried the pasta Al pomodoro and it tasted really good & fresh. My husband loved his Tuesday special burger. Cocktail- the drunken wifey unlike it's description, tasted like a normal margarita but the Versace on the 7th that my husband ordered was amazing and citrusy! Service - I made the reservation via open table so we were seated immediately. I did put a note that it's my husband's birthday however there was no mention nor any birthday dessert which is typical at most restaurants. Secondly, we went in for the Tuesday special which clearly mentions that you can order half bottle of their rose, white or red wine from their selection but our server clearly declined until we got up to grab this specials menu from the front and showed her. Odd? I expect the server to know better and do better! Really weird for this kind of service when it's a birthday dinner at a fancy place. Place has way too many gnats and flies that kept bothering us throughout and we had to literally keep our food and drinks safe :/ I haven't really experienced something like this in a long long time so they definitely need to do something about it. Too pricey for the overall experience. Might not return.

Booked dinner reservations here for my birthday since it was highly recommended/rated and had an absolute blast! Our server Jenny made our experience 3x better! She was very attentive, gave us the best recommendations, and just such great energy! FOOD: We started with the fries and Brussel sprouts both were very good, but I'd pass on the fries next time. For entrees we got the funghi mushroom pizza, tagliatelle, and the half chicken. Each dish was SO good I would have to say the tagliatelle was most certainly my favorite! We also ordered a couple of cocktails (I can't remember the names) but they were also very tasty! Highly recommend trying their limoncello shots!! 10/10 AMBIANCE: Ok can we talk about how freakin cute it is inside?! I love the open kitchen concept and how homey it feels inside. It's still giving luxury but like a cozy luxury dining experience lol. They already have the Christmas vibes going too! There's tons of parking and valet is complimentary!! OVERALL: I couldn't recommend this place enough, definitely great for date night & celebrations! Make sure to book reservations in advance to avoid wait times (we still had to wait 10 mins with a reservation) it gets busy for dinner time forsure.

Yelp
This is easily in my top five meals of all time. I dined alone since I was up in Phoenix for a work event, and the service was excellent. I started with the Versace on 7th cocktail, a bizarre and glorious concoction of chili infused vodka, honey, and white balsamic, topped with olive oil foam. It was something a mad genius cooked up, truly unique and delicious. For a starter, I went with the seared octopus. It was amazingly tender. The potatoes with it were nice, but the real star was the squid ink aoili. From there, I moved on to the black cod. Perfectly cooked, and topped with a mustard caper sauce I couldn't get enough of. And the roasted radishes were the perfect accompaniment. I really didn't need dessert, but couldn't help myself. The salted caramel budino was a total winner. So rush I only had a couple of bites- it could easily be shared after a meal. I hate Phoenix but I would come up more often if it means enjoying Scott Conant's genius again.

Yelp
Mora has declined over the last year the price and quantity of the food is way out of balance. The pomodoro was no more than an ice cream scoop of pasta on very small plate. The 20$ meatball appetizer was a joke. Was like three marbles on a bed of tasteless pasta balls. The pizza was good but the price out of whack. Service staff was good butt the place overall was understaffed with only two servers The food was overall good but notbany better than their lesser priced competitors. We won't be back

Yelp
What a cool place. The decor is hip and modern and the staff are great! Our server Jessica was awesome. She helped with recommendations and even cracked a few jokes. I asked for my pasta well done and it was perfect! I highly recommend the Burrata, it was so creamy. YUM!! Can't wait to come back to try the pizzas and wine Wednesdays. 1/2 off bottles!!

Yelp
OMG I love this italian spot! One of my go to's for sure! The happy hour is phenomenal and the pasta is so delicious!! Drunken wifeys get you the perfect buzz too. The service is so quick and very personal! Sat at the outside patio bar and we still could feel the A/C (:

Yelp
Wow! Mora was absolutely to die for. We came with family to celebrate finding my best friend's wedding dress! We got a bottle of champagne, wine, and tried a few cocktails. We tried the drunken wifey & the drunk maid of honor (as I called it lol). We did the focaccia di recco & calamari as appetizers. Two of the entrees we got included the seared pork chop, which was absolutely incredible and had so much flavor. The rigatoni was delicious as well. This restaurant has one of the BEST menus I've seen at Italian place in Arizona. The service was phenomenal and the staff was truly so informing, inviting, and constantly checking on us but letting us enjoy the night. The ambiance is dim & lit, classy. Can definitely dress up here!

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick happy hour on Friday (you have to sit at the bar for the happy hour menu). Edward was our server, he did a great job .. he told us about the restaurant and explained the menu, answered all our questions. I went with Dealers Choice which was a spin on a nigroni.. very yummy! I had to try the charred octopus which was delicious with baby potatoes & squid ink aioli served with pita .. luckily I didn't have to share this dish. I didn't think it was shareable size. We had the daily topping napolitana pizza .. the crust was delicious.. definitely shareable size. The bar area has plenty of high tops and bar seating, plenty of parking. Beautiful restaurant perfect for date night. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
We went to Mora Italian restaurant for a birthday celebration. When you walk inside, you will notice an open air kitchen concept with barstools as well as a vibrant dining room atmosphere and a covered outdoor patio area and bar with TVS. This place feels a lot bigger in person than in the photos. I recommend the bread/spread sampler to start given its variety for the table. We ordered frutti de mare pizza, pasta Al pomodoro, and Tagliatelle. All 3 of these were fantastic, but the Tagliatelle was definitely my favorite given the texture/flavor combo. All of the pasta/pizza taste authentic and you can tell that it's all made in this restaurant. Paired with nice Italian wine, Mora is fantastic for date night or celebrations. Highly recommend this place for those wanting a fun experience!

Yelp
My wife and I have had Mora Italian on our list of restaurants to visit for quite some time. While we meant to go there before the pandemic started, we finally got around to going recently and celebrating our anniversary. The service, the atmosphere, and the food were all superb. Their website (https://www.moraitalian.com) advertises "convivial vibes and a spread of soulful food," which sounded about right for us. We made our reservation a day or two in advance at Open Table, and we found that we had several types of options for seating including outdoor, which we took advantage of due to still not being used to dining out. They have working fans when it is hot outside and heaters when it is cold outside. For a weekend evening (early in the evening), we found that the service was very good, and we even had a trainee with our server, which meant that we had two people watching over us. We ordered crispy baby potatoes complete with fontina fonduta, crispy garlic, and chives. My wife's entree was a new salmon dish, that was delicious but served in a bowl when it would have made more sense to be served on a plate. I ordered an Argentine prime steak served with prezzemolo chimichurri. We both loved all of these dishes! We then were surprised with a complimentary dessert for our anniversary which was a lemon ricotta spongecake, a great way to wrap up our meal. We look forward to coming back another time in the near future. They also have a daily happy hour from 4-6 PM with various drink and food specials in the bar. Mora Italian also participates in Arizona Restaurant Week with a special priced three-course meal.

Yelp
We opted for happy hour at Mora this week, one of the many spots we tried for my wife's bday. Happy hour menu offered some really good options. We tried the schiacciata, which is a stuffed focaccia bread filled with prosciutto and fontina, with some fried sage on top. We were going to try a couple of options and decided to just finish off our focaccia. Nice crisp outside to the dough and the fried salty sage on top added such a nice flavor to each bite. Would definitely recommend for anyone to try. My wife had the drunken wifey, which is tequila, limoncello, elderflower, honey, thyme. She said it was strong, so definitely worth the $12. The flavors were well balanced and she enjoyed it thoroughly. I went with a mocktail and chose the "thank you berry much"; blueberry, guava, honey, lime and soda. Wow! We were both very surprised how delicious this was. I wish it was in a bigger glass since it was a mocktail, only because you aren't sipping it like an actual cocktail. Either way would definitely come back again, it was great! Staff behind the bar were really nice.

Yelp
My sister was in town for a brief visit, and we checked out Mora Italian with my Dad and Aunt. It was a GREAT experience from start to finish!! People The assistant manger, TJ, was immediately kind and helpful. We settled into our table, and Jacob, our server, came over to take our drink order. He was attentive and so helpful without being overbearing. We wanted to take our time, and he paced everything perfectly. The woman from the kitchen, who brought out the different courses, was also so nice. TJ came over to the table to check on us at one point and then was, again, so kind on our way out. Food The drinks and food were delicious. The different dishes were creative and we loved the variety of flavors. We look forward to getting back there to try more dishes! Ambiance The space itself is so cool - high ceilings with exposed brick and wood beams, cool windows, nice looking bar area and patio.... Thank you Mora Italian for an awesome EXPERIENCE tonight!! You set the stage and prepared a beautiful meal, so we could just relax and enjoy easy conversation and much laughter. (Next time, I will try to remember to take photos!)

Yelp
Great ambiance! We went on a Monday --not always the best day. Steak was great. Perfectly done. Squid pasta was just ok. Needed flavor. It was very bland. I also think the seafood was fairly sparse. Dessert (salted caramel) was something special for sure.

Yelp
So freakin delish and great looking. As soon as you walk in, you know something good is going to happen in your mouth. Our waiter, Justin, couldn't have been more enthusiastic and genuine about his love for the food and working at Mora. Always a plus. We were they for Happy Hour (Rush Hour) and the menu was different with much to choose from. The Blood Orange Spritz was tasty and refreshing on a very hot summer day. Meatballs excellent and plentiful. Shrimp were sitting in a pool of fantastic dipping sauce, the margarita pizza with ball of burrada outstanding. To top it off, Justin sent us home with a budino dessert to go that looks great too. I can't wait to go back for dinner! Well done Scott Conant!

Yelp
I very much wanted to love Mora Italian, but after two dining experiences, I haven't been thrilled. The first time we went was 5 years ago (to the day, I remember well as it's my birthday), and our second time was today. Reservations are easy to make on Open Table; they open at 5, if you're going to happy hour, you can sit at the bar before then. Menu items seem to change, except maybe a few most popular items. We wanted to get an appetizer to start our meal so we went either the Polenta "Cremosa". This may be one of the best things I've ever eaten. According to our server, they slow cook it for multiple hours. Anyways, the polenta with the mushrooms, truffle, and cheese tasted amazing! Dinner unfortunately was significantly less impressive. I ordered the Half Roasted Chicken, my husband got the Black Campanelle, and we ordered the Roasted Eggplant Al Forno to share. The chicken was cooked very well, it was perfectly tender, and the vegetables also, a nice blend of spinach, carrots, onions, and cauliflower. However, the whole dish was quite bland, lacked any flavor other than butter. My husband said his pasta dish had a good amount of seafood and was quite filling, although a bit on the salty side. Neither of us liked the eggplant, it had a very tart and off-putting taste. Skip, especially considering the $12 price tag. Since it was my birthday, I was invited to select any dessert, complimentary. I went with the Salted Caramel Budino. It was a thick pudding-y custard-y dessert with a bit of crunch and topped with whipped cream. My husband enjoyed it! So overall, a disappointing experience. I will also note that they need to make it very clear on their menu that fountain sodas are $5 each .. and each refill thereafter will also be $5 each. Absolutely ridiculous, although shouldn't make a difference for us personally, as we will not be returning.

Yelp
I came to Mora and was watching my calories so I was unable to order pizza or pasta which was a shame however I did try my friends food and it was fantastic. Although not a steak house, I did enjoy the filet mignon with chimichurri sauce. The asparagus side dish with goat cheese was also flavorful. The polenta with truffle was amazing, definitely get that! My favorite pasta that I tried from my boyfriend was the cavatelli. Service was just okay. I felt they main dishes took a while to come out and we waited a long time. All in all a tasty meal.

Yelp
Place came highly recommended, called for a reservation at 6.00 pm. We were seated promptly, the restaurant is nicely decorated , the customers were a younger crowd. Started with pizza margarita as an appetizer, it was a little light on cheese , the crust was good but not crisp. The next order was spaghetti with their veal meatballs , they were small and tasteless, I did like the sauce we also had the duck meat with pasta but the pasta was a little crunchy. We finished the meal with taramisu, this was their best dish ., Service was good , the meal was about 60 dollars a person

Yelp
I wanted a little Mora after I left. I went with a party of 3, we ordered family style, because they were my parents. We shared 4 things - margarita pizza (with added burrata), Argentine red shrimp, schiccaftia (spelling?) and polpettine. Everything we ordered was delicious, but what really stood out, was the garlic, chili oil sauce for the shrimp. The perfect dipping sauce for everything else. Our server Justin was awesome, loved his recommendations. It took me a minute to come to Mora but I will absolutely be back soon.

Yelp
This was our first trip, and we had a 5PM reservation with two friends. We were the first in. By the time we left, it was packed with happy diners. The food, the service (thank you, Hayley!) and the atmosphere were fantanstic. We each started with a glass of wine, me needed samples to select mine, and my wife asking if they could make a peach flavored prosecco -- which they did. With the dirinks, our friends started the table off with a large plate of focaccia unlike any I've had. It was flat and folded, like a nice pastry, and seasoned with stracchino cheese and sea salt. For dinner, I started with the pan seared octopus, which cam as a salad, with thinly sliced radish and cucumber, lemon labneh and other greens, flavored with fennel. The octopus was deep fried, and a bit over-done, but otherwise very nice. My entreê was the pork chop "parmigiano." It was a huge chope, cooked like you would cook chicken parm. The chop was nicely sauced with a tomato-based and cheese sauce, and served with a light spring salad. I surprised myself by eating every single bit. My wife very much enjoyed her Pasta al Pomodoro. Each couple split a desert, with our friends having the sea salt Budino, and kindly giving us a taste of this wonderful creme brulee style dish with gianduja crumble, sea salt, fresh whipped cream. My wife and I went overboard with the Sundae Fundae -- a ridiculously and wonderfully decadent "any and all the toppings you want" bowl of delicious vanilla ice cream, which was crafted table-side. When placed in front of us, I wondered how you manage a to-go bag for ice cream, but found it was not worth the worry, since there was an empty bowl at the end. Last, I want to re-tag our server, Hayley. I love it when the staff are totally knowledgeable about the foods and beverages, comfortable, pleasant, efficient, and clearly well-selected and well-trained. She was all of that, and from watching the room, I think her work-mates are, as well. It was a bit pricey for us, but we will certainly be back!

Yelp
We had a mixed group of vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The food was great and while the vegetarians had limited choice on the main courses, there was enough with the starters and side dishes to put you in a food coma. The dishes were all well presented and prepared. The server assigned to our table was exceptional and we could not have been served better. Having said that we were least impressed with the management. They put us at the very outside of the restaurant and 7th street was right behind us. With it being a cold evening, the cross breeze was freezing us and they only had 1 heater so we took turns rotating for the heat. The noise level was high because of the street traffic and when we asked the front staff to maybe split the group and give us something under the heaters in the porch, we were told it would be an hour and a half wait. When I talked to the manager about making some accommodation he told me he was going to check on his computer in his office and disappeared. He never bothered to get back in touch to close the loop and that was the most annoying experience we have had in eating at some very nice restaurants in the area. Having said that, it is a restaurant that has really good food and service and should be on your list of places to eat.

Yelp
The hubby and I had a delightful dinner at Mora. We were greeted by a couple of hosts who were warm and inviting and seated us right on time with our reservation. Our server was just as phenomenal and was attentive but gave us enough space. We started with the meatballs which were made of pork and veal and sat on top of a semolina pudding. The semolina looked like mashed potatoes and were smooth and had a nice mouth feel. The meatballs were just as soft, tasty and perfectly seasoned. We then had the mushroom pizza that was topped with pickled red onions which balanced it out nicely. My husband chose the pizza which was surprising since it has a white sauce instead of the traditional marinara. The crust was chewy but charred nicely. Last was the pasta, which I picked. We ordered the ricotta cavatelli which was very rich and cut with a whipped ricotta. The pasta was cooked Al dente and was tossed with a liberal amount of ragu. It was heavily seasoned and I'd at almost too salty with the sausage and olives. A touch of acid would've helped cut through the richness. My husband and I were both pleased with dinner and would highly recommend it.

Yelp
Came here for a friend's birthday dinner. They have valet parking available outside. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Ambiance is nice but can get loud. We ordered the fried calamari (and other seafood) which I thought was ok. I did like the margherita pizza. But. I chose to add on the burrata which I actually regretted afterwards not because it wasn't delicious but because it was cold on too of the hot pizza and I just didn't like that combination temperature wise. Next time, just the pizza. They did have candles om our dessert for the birthday girl which was nice! And the deserts were good.

Yelp
First time we came to Mora's in November 2021 it was amazing ! 5 stars!! Hands down! So when we were back in phx for a birthday we wanted to celebrate here. Wish I took more pictures of tonight's meals. We ordered a salami and cheese board, 2 pizzas, pasta Pomodora and I had to get my favorite from last time the fettuccine. First disappointment was the board. We opted for the full board which is $26.00 vs the happy hour option that was $10.00 it arrived. The bread that came out was not warmed up and flavorless and kind of stale tasting. The part that made us a little peeved was when the person table down from us ordered the happy hour one and our boards were the exact same. Lame ! Next issue I wish the waitress mentioned we were paying by the glass for soda. Most places in the US is not that way and if it is then that's ok it's the restaurants decision but it needs to be mentioned because majority of us expect it to be the other way. Third we order one pepperoni pizza and it came out wrong and they charged us the wrong price on our pomodora And last my fettuccine that brought me back wasn't as good as it was last time. Quite a few pieces of my escarole was old and looked rotten. I know the difference of cooked and bad escarole. The flavor of the sauce wasn't as rich. Pretty disappointed. Especially since the first time was so amazing and I kept telling people to try it and now I'm embarrassed I recommended it. Pictures attached are from our first visit and I added the one pic of tonight's escarole.

Yelp
If you're looking for Italian inspired food , then Mora's a great option. On my recent visit I tried the chef's daily selection happy hour pizza, which consisted of arugula, honey, fresh garlic, cheese and fresh tomatoes. Very tasty, not disappointed at all. I had tried the happy hour meatballs, which were stuffed and fried and oh so good. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very nice and made great suggestions on the items that I purchased. He was also very friendly and always had a smile on his face when servicing us. The ambiance of Mora, was very quiet, very empty because of the time of day went, but overall a great atmosphere.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite Italian restaurant I've tried in Phoenix. We came here on a Saturday night which we made reservations for in advance. To start we got a round of cocktails, I had the drunken wifey which is a tequila based drink and was very flavorful and strong. For food, we ordered the margarita pizza with burrata, fettuccine Alfredo with a side of shrimp, and the rigatoni. Every dish was incredible but the show stopper was the rigatoni. The flavors of the wagyu rigatoni was like nothing I've ever had before. This was the perfect girls night out spot. The portions of the food were a little small for the price but the pasta is homemade so that compensates. The drinks were cute, food was amazing and the atmosphere was great, I'll be returning!

Yelp
Everything about this place was fantastic except that it took two and a half hours. It was loud and busy but it wasn't fully packed. Tables around us were getting their drinks before my friends came out but we didn't say anything. Took roughly 25-30 minutes just to get our drinks and by the. Our first appetizer rolled up soon after. The pizza was so good. Something about the sauce. My friend got an old fashioned but asked for a normal one and enjoyed it. I got the spaghetti, which was delicious. The protein/meatball on the side was very flavorful as well. I'd go back but would be more vocal about service. We were kind and quiet but majority of the time we couldn't talk because it was so loud and it was hard to hear, even sitting there to five feet from each other.

Yelp
I wish I could leave more than 5 stars as this was one of the best dining experiences we've had for a party of 6. When you walk in the ambience is perfect with dim lighting, an open kitchen and tons of seating. Our server Calvin was one of the best servers I've ever had! He was so full of energy, he was so knowledgeable and made us feel as if we could taste the food just by listening to his favorites on the menu. They provided our table with a round of drinks and the most delicious focaccia after a little delay on our reservation. That was not needed but very much appreciated. Our pastas were amazing and full of flavor. The pomo doro pasta had a vodka sauce taste and cooked just right. The black pasta is perfect for seafood lovers and do yourself a favor and order the pork chop! We finished the night with the donuts and espresso cookie! If you have the opportunity to try Mora please ask for Calvin he will take your experience to another level.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our meal at Mora!! We ultimately sat at the bar due to the long wait, which was no biggie, but important to note for future visits. I had a friend advise us to stick to the basics here, so we ended up ordering the pomodoro pasta, focaccia, and a wagyu bolognese. I throughly enjoyed my meal, but was mildly disappointed because the menus they initially passed out to us were apparently the wrong ones, which got my hopes up and then broke my heart. Ultimately, Mora had average pricing for Phoenix, a very cute ambiance, and friendly service. If we're ever in the area, we will be back!
