100% would recommend this place, beautifully decorated interior, wonderful service, delicious & guilt free food. Food is authentic. On certain days they have deals (i.e. Buy 1 get 1 for $1 on select beef options). They also have solo soup options if you dont want to share a family style broth pot. Overall a great experience.

Went here for my brother in law’s birthday and I was surprised at how cheap the meals were and the variety you could get as well. The broth was very tasty as well. The waiters are kind and friendly. More people should be visiting here. This place is awesome.

there's a deal to get some food at a discounted rate. provided you give a 5 star review BEFORE eating. which to me is off putting. because of this, i would take 5 star reviews with a grain of salt. excluding the review policy, my experience was positive, service was good, food was good. i would easily give it a 4.

Wonderful experience at LaMeDuo. With 6 of us having dinner, we had a great suggestion by the waiter to choose the 4 soup pot vs each person having their own. Service was good throughout. The food was pretty fresh. The make flour own sauce mix is always a hit and depending on your taste. Soup base choice depends on taste and with 6 choices, folks have their own choice to make, however the waiter was gracious enough to let us know which are the popular soup base. Overall, it was a great experience with everyone from vegetarian, to pescitarean, each leaving the restaurant happy and full. Price after tip and tax is about $40 per which is normal for such type of meal. Highly recommend

Interior: Lots of seating areas and usually not too busy. Both times that I've gone we were able to be seated right away even on weekends. Food: the presentation of the food is always very nicely done. The spicy broth is quite spicy and we love the mushroom broth in the middle of each hot pot. Great for a cold winter day

Sichuan-Chongqing Hot Pot style, not all-you-can-eat, but you do get pretty big tables to try your hand at cooking your own food. Service was brusque and certainly more efficient in Chinese; my English was basically slower by a factor of at least 3. And yes, they are spicy, so not a place I enjoyed so much but others in the group liked spicy so they were good. Large square hot pots split into two soups if you wanted with a single clear broth in the center circle in case you needed to cook something not as spicy. A few different broth choices; some at an extra cost (like the pickled mustard + intestine). Meats, seafood, some fried dishes, veggies and noodles all available. Sauces much more limited than what I'm used to elsewhere, and the soy sauce is just labeled as a "special sauce". Big tank of sesame oil, though, that seems to be used a lot by the folks who frequent this particular style of hotpot, so it makes sense. Special dishes like the green pepper-covered beef are great for those who like spice. Meatballs and house made shrimp balls were ok. The noodle I asked how long it'd take to cook, and they basically told me to test like I would with spaghetti- take a piece, break it open and see if it's fully cooked. No sense of time or anything extra in the way of service. Overall too spicy and oily for me, but the lamb was good quality and the ice jelly dessert was an interesting mix of clear jelly, sour plum-like juice and some dessert haw flakes and spices. Not very sweet. Water pitcher and other service items (napkins, chopsticks) were provided initially but for any refills or additional plates, chopsticks, etc. you had to call waitstaff over. Didn't change plates or anything for us. They do take credit cards. Clean and large space, while I'd expected more ventilation, didn't walk out feeling overwhelmed with aromas so something was going for it. Seats were comfortable and they didn't rush us out.

Had such a great time here having late lunch/early dinner with my coworkers. Food was delicious, ambiance was great, and service was top notch! Great for those cold winter months! A great authentic, cultural experience!

I couldn't be happier to see a hot pot place in Somerset! Hoping to see more and more hot pot and authentic asian spots open in this area! The spicy broth was indeed VERY spicy but so delicious and flavorful. The portions for the toppings are HUGE and you get what you pay for. It is a bit pricier but I think it's justified by the reasons mentioned. The service was great - our waitress was helpful and attentive. Note: They are BYOB! The only thing is that I wish they had a bit more sauce options... Can't wait to be back!

I'm so glad we drove 40 minutes out to try this place. We've been craving hotpot and everything in our area on that particular Monday night had an hour wait. We decided to just take a look on Yelp and landed on Morals Village - how lucky were we! I am addicted to hotpot so I've tried many different places, New York and New Jersey included. Morals Village has some of the most authentic soup bases I've ever had. We opted for the half and half (the Original Spicy Soup Base with Beef Oil & the Tomato Soup Base). The spicy half was so well seasoned and honestly, I didn't even need any of the sauce I concocted myself at the self-serve station. Everything is so fresh too! Some of the things we ordered that I think are must trys - Meats: Beef Meatballs (these were made in house unlike most places I've been to), Lamb Slices, Supreme Beef Slices (their meat is honestly some of the freshest I have seen, the colors were so vibrant) Seafoods: Fish Fillet, Fish Roe Balls Others: Handmade Noodles (so bouncy, we ordered too much food and the server was so sweet and suggested to take some soup home to cook it with the next day and gave us containers) Food was great and the service was so wonderful. I cannot wait to come back!

I was there on a Sunday with my husband and son. The service was great! Our waiter gave us suggestions on what to try, as the menu has tons of variety of meats and seafood. I loved the banana paratha!! Having the option of having both mild and spicy broths helped, as I don't eat spicy food as much, but my husband does. The ambience was calm and welcoming.

Delicious food but service definitely lacking. If you're brave order the spicy broth but be careful with the peppercorns one wrong bite and your mouth will be on fire and numb at the same time. Try the spicy special beef. Definitely special. Generous portions of veggies. Interested sauce bar, with a myriad of sauce bases and toppings that you can mix and make your own dipping sauce for the proteins and veggies. Based on the food we would come back without a question but... The service. We were 5 people they only set 4 plate settings, and getting the server's attention was impossible. Once another server finally came around and we asked for another setting they only brought a bowl and a fork (no chopsticks, nor spoon). The forgot some of our orders (but didn't forget to ring it in our bill). No napkins and once again could not get anyone's attention. Water and tea refills were far in between. If it was extremely busy I would be more forgiving but it was not.

I just so happened to come here very soon after having had delicious hot pot in Brooklyn Chinatown, so my expectations were set rather high, Thankfully, this place turned out to be very good! We tried a spicy broth and a bone broth, and a good variety of meats. The lamb and spicy beef were great and really stood out, but I was hoping for better options overall (no clams?). The duck tongue was not very enjoyable as there was a lot of bone/ligament, and the ribs were a bit hard to cook correctly as they were served on ice. This often meant they'd either be cold in the middle or the whole thing would just get over done unless you time it perfectly. Still, we really enjoyed the food overall, especially due to both broths being very flavorful in different ways. The price ended up being around $40-45 per person, which seemed slightly high compared to what I payed near sunset park in Brooklyn (closer to $35). I think we had more food there as well. Still pretty reasonable though. Our service was superb and the interior was very nice and spacious, so overall a very good experience that I'd recommend.

Came here on a weekday for dinner. Not that busy which was good. Ingredients were fresh, presentation was nice but soup base was bland. For mala hotpot it wasn't flavorful. Also their sesame oil sucks. Szechuan mala hotpot is all about the nice sesame oil. Could improve.

Really happy to have found this spot, it's a bit of a random location for hot pot but definitely a great quality restaurant. This is not an all-you-can-eat spot So you order a la carte off the menu. The food quality is definitely top notch but it does end up being a little bit pricey depending on what you order and how many people you have. We had four different broths so that we could try a little bit of everything. We had two spicy and two non-spicy. The two spicy broths definitely have a kick but they're manageable. All of the flavors are absolutely delicious. All of the meat that we ordered was really high quality as well as all of the vegetables.

Since our favorite hot pot place is under renovation, we decided to try this place out. Interesting name...Morals Village, one can make lots of jokes about it. But I will tell you what is not moral, when you have to pay $2.99 per person for the sauce bar. Waiter: Do you want to add the sauce bar for $2.99? Me: If we don't, will we still get a complimentary dipping sauce. Waiter: No. That gives us no choice. Who goes to a hot pot place and not have dipping sauces? We felt forced to add it to our meal. Along with the $2.99 sauce bar, they have roasted peanuts, shrimp chips that were soft like a sponge, a bland dessert soup and watermelon chunks. That being said, the food here is really, really good, super fresh and I love the varieties they had that many other places don't. The slices of angus beef (sliced so big that it can cover my entire face) was tender and tasted like high quality beef. Another item I saw was fish maw. But it's not like the ones in the soup, it has a gizzard texture. I didn't mind it. Another veggie I loved were the pea shoots that you don't often find at hot pot places. Decor is chic with cool light fixtures. Allow about 2 hours to eat. Always fun to go with a group of family or friends. My motto for hot pot is always try that one item that you never had before. You just never know! I will give a huge shout-out to the entire staff. Super friendly with a smile, came by often to check on us. Asked how everything was, changed up our dirty plates 3x, refilled our water and the broth and kept giving us napkins. They were also good at clearing each plate as soon as we finished. It's like they were hiding behind me. I docked one star for the sauce bar. I don't like it when hot pot places put this extra cost on their patrons. Note: Items here are expensive.

You know what's great about this place? They have bull frog. End of story. There's not too many spots in the US where you can throw frog into your hotpot but the ones here were lit. Super tender and MUCH better than chicken. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

We come here often and really enjoyed it in the past. Yesterday we took our daughter before she went back to college... To my surprise, the menu changed a lot, and the selection of soup is reduced... both 油条 and 滋巴 were not crispy and they were cold. I did not complain then which now I think I should have... The taste of red spicy soup was good

We had a good experience here on a Monday evening. It was surprisingly busy for a restaurant on a Monday. Overall, the quality of the food here was good. We ordered the half/half spicy beef oil and pork broth soup, meat combo platter, shrimp paste, fresh tofu, fish tofu, some assorted veggies and hand pulled noodles. We were generally happy with all the food - it was a relatively big portion size for the meat combo platter but the veggies and others, for what you pay, seemed small. I am giving this 4 stars since I just don't think it's worth it to come here over an AYCE place like some in Edison. Especially if you have a hungry man with you, you will pay more for this place than an AYCE place with the same quality. I also hate that they make you pay 2.99 for the "unlimited" sauce bar. Just incorporate it into the rest of the menu prices. Staff were really attentive. One person in our party dropped a chopstick, and not 2 seconds later, our waiter was next to us with a new chopstick.

It's located in a plaza. We went for Monday night. Plenty of parking space still available. The restaurant was not crowed. 5 of us decide to share a big pot together. We got spicy, pork ribs soup, and vegetarian mushroom for soup base. Spicy soup, not very spicy, compare what I had in other restaurant. The taste was okay. The other 2 non-spicy pot. Flavor not bad. And not too salty. Good to cook vegetable. All the dishes we ordered was pretty fresh. Everything was decent, nothing really special. Each of us paid $40 for this dinner.

I like that they make their own meatballs. This is not AYCE. We chose the split soup base: one mild (for the kids) and one spicy with beef fat (for us adults). For spicy, you can choose 3 levels, and we chose mild and were quite surprised on how spicy it was. I cannot imagine how spicy their highest level could be. Everything else was a la carte. We got the meatball platter, beef and lamb platter, and vege platter, plus fried bread with condensed milk (mmmmm). Everything was good. If you like blood cakes, you can get a plate of duck blood cakes for $0.99 just by scanning the code and posting about it. It works for WeChat; don't know about other social networks. The blood cakes have a soft-jiggly texture with neutral taste. The sauce area has a good variety and there are some side dishes, like shrimp chips, pickled chicken feet, and fruit. Unlike other places, they do charge $3pp for that, so get your fruit fill. We spent about $100 for four (no drinks), so we won't be coming here on a regular basis; maybe once in awhile. And we'll get the healthier soup bases with less oil.

For the unfamiliar at a glance you wouldn't know what to expect, but Morals village is a really great Chinese hot pot experience. As an experienced Asian food consumer I am ashamed this is my first time trying steamboat. Simple and fun application of interior decor leaves you focused on the extensive menu of options. With the moderate and friendly guidance of the staff you understand how things will flow and get started right away. Pros: Chic and simple interior, friendly staff and delicious food. Shrimp with heads were exceptional. Cons: Even for experienced spicy food connoisseur be aware that the spicy broth is not for the faint of heart. Fire.

Went in for lunch after a tired ski trip and had some delicious food here. The soup bases are relatively light yet flavorful (which is really good because most other places have very salty and heavy and makes me thirsty all the time), the chicken base was aromatic and the spicy one not too spicy. There are good portions in each plate and we ended up taking some home. My favorites were the Angus Beef Slices, Dezhuang Special Beef Tripe, and Bamboo Fungus Shrimp Slips. Service was great, the waiters are very friendly, and added soup and served the food very promptly. The ambiance was great too, the dining room is very spacious and bright, the tables are very large, and it was not crowded.

Lots of variety and selection, though since they just opened some items on the menu were unavailable. The broths are very good, their house special (chicken and pork broth) has a unique flavor that I like. Worth a try. The service was very attentive and very friendly. Good hearted people. The decor is very modern with a touch of traditional. It's very comfortable and spacious, good for big groups and families. The chairs are very comfy and the place is very clean. Definitely will be back!

I'm not the biggest advocate on a la carte hot pot because I think price wise you don't get your moneys worth. However Morals Village has changed me just slightly. The quality of ingredients super top notch. For the prices, you get a lot a single hot pot ingredient. The broths are super flavorful. My recommendations (always must get at any hot pot restaurant) is the fatty beef. The beef here is such high quality. Good amounts of fat to lean meat ratio. Thick cuts of it too. High recommendations to try to this place if you want the best quality hot pot ingredients.

I went on a Thursday night for dinner and there was ample seating indoors. The price for AYCE hot pot was great and there are a lot of options to choose from, from meats to vegetables. I also enjoy the variety of flavors for broths. I opted for the double pot with the pork bone and tomato bases. As a nice surprise, there was a small portion of mushroom broth in the center of the pot. Everything looks to be delicious, but I noticed black veins in my meat and refused to eat it. The servers were nasty to me because I left it on the plate because I chose not to eat it due to the possibility of contracting food poisoning with my weak digestive system. The manager came out and tried to reassure me that the black veins were blood. Regardless, any food that is sent out should look presentable. After that, the servers kept glancing at me, talking about me behind my back. I would not come again.

I've visited Morals Village Hot Pot many times over the years and the quality has remained consistent. However, I would definitely say that it can be very expensive and there are other places that are better worth the money. I do enjoy that the service is very fast and that the restaurant is clean. Unlike other hot pot places, there is very rarely a long wait to get a seat. I would recommend this place if you have extra money to spend. However, if you want food that is worth the price... this may not be the place for you.

I came on a busy day, and the staff was a bit disorganized, but the meal ended up WELL worth it. The menu is a bit confusing, but basically you just get a large split pot and pick two soup flavors. I would recommend trying two distinct ones to get a bit of contrast. They also give you this umami-burst mushroom soup included. We ordered a variety of meats and veggies which were all as expected and excellent. I especially loved the shrimp paste - it does look a bit strange if you have never had it before, but you just scoop little spoonfuls into the broth to make your own meatballs. Delicious! Lastly, I would not recommend paying for the salad/topping bar. It is extra and not worth it. Just get more hot pot dishes! I would definitely recommend this restaurant over other hot pot places in the area such as Little Sheep - which is also very good.

I will like the viewers to know that this review is not to talk up or bash the business. I just want share my experience. I am a person that loves hot pot. I travel all over NJ to try new hot pot places. Moral Village is good because the sauce bar is excellent. The soup base is high quality and the food is fresh with great presentation. They have a VIP card program where I have not once but loaded 500 dollars on the card TWICE. So this tells you that I do or did enjoy eating here. Now with all the positive things I said, why will I give this 1 star? I hope this is not too confusing but I will try to explain. As I mentioned before I am a vip card holder. To get a vip card, you will need to load $300, $400, or $500 onto the card. Once you buy the card, you get an additional 10% added to the card as a bonus. The VIP card allows you to get discounts off certain items from he menu. You can not use the VIP card the day you buy it, but can be used on your next visit. That is totally understandable and as a business owner myself, I agree. I went with my family and friends to Moral Village for dinner. Food was great as always until the bill came. The total bill was roughly $310.00 for 5 adults. I informed them I have a VIP card and the waiter told me the new total was $268. I gave them my VIP card and after a short time the waiter came back and informed me that I only had $262 as a remaining balance on my card. I was $6 dollars short, 6 DOLLARS on a $300 dinner. I asked if I can pay the 6 dollars in cash. The waiter said no. I still didn't think it was a big issue. I don't mind refilling my card for another $500 because I do enjoy this place. The waiter told me that if I "reload" the card today, I will not be able to get my discount because I just reloaded the card and I will have to pay the full price of $310. After going debating with the waiter, the other option was to use the remaining credit on my card and pay the difference but because I was SIX DOLLARS short, they WILL NOT offer me the discount and still wants me to pay the $310 price. At the end I decided to pay the $310 and not ruin the evening with my friends and family. Lets be serious. I'm not asking for a free $6.00. I even offered to pay $12 but the waiter said "no". If the bill was $60 bucks and I'm 10% (6 dollars) off then that is one thing. I have a bill that is $300+ and they can see that I loaded my card 2x at $500 a clip and they want to penalize me for being 6 dollars short? Just take some time to thing about that. As I mentioned before, I am a business owner myself. If it is company policy, then there is nothing I can argue. I firmly believe the OWNER was standing behind the waiter playing on his phone hearing the conversation but chose not intervene. Regardless if the owner was there or not, the owner should allow employees so authority to make "common sense" decisions. If I was the owner and heard this story, I will probably discipline the waiter for upsetting a recurring VIP customer for how much? 6 dollars. Just an fyi, we were debating to leave a tip or not due to experience, we still left a 15% tip. We usually tip 18%- 20% but didn't want to take hard working money away from other servers.

Our first hot pot, staff was super helpful. Everything was fresh. Definitely get the quail eggs, they burst in your mouth. Super good!

The sauces&fruits&snacks are about 6 bucks per person. It seemed unmentioned until I got the check. Service was attentive. They paid attention to the soup and added more before I even asked. Same goes to adjusting the temperature. The hot soup was actually hot and numb, unlike a more tamed version at the little lamb in Edison. The mushroom soup in the center of the hot pot tasted like dried mushroom. I got half and half btw. The pot itself is deep, which may make it not so easy to fish out the food. The 酱香 (soy sauced??) pork was sooooo tender, juicy and well seasoned (w/velveting technique). Worth a try :) it is listed on the front of the menu. At first I thought it was prepped food but it's also for the hot pot.

This was really really good hot pot especially for it being in NJ. Definitely on par with some of the bigger names in NYC chinatowns like haidilao or xiang. Would come back here.

This is definitely best hotpot place in New Jersey. I like the spicy beef, beef tongue and chicken gizzard most. Every dish is fresh and delicious and the portion is bigger than most hot pot place. I went there on Saturday night and there were plenty of tables available. Now this is my go to hotpot place in town and I don't need drive to flushing for hot pot anymore.

Good place for hot pot. It's not AYCE but the quality of ingredients is pretty good for the price. The broths are very good although I'm not a fan of the soup that they place in the middle when you order two broths for the table. The spicy broth is extremely spicy and I ended up not eating much from that broth since it wasn't too enjoyable. I can see others that really enjoy spicy foods liking that option though. All the food that comes out is fresh and of good quality though. One thing I will say is that I've been here twice and both times the staff has either forgotten to give us food that we've ordered or given us something that we haven't ordered. The first time we went, the staff kind of pressured us to get on WeChat and scan their code to receive discounted food that we weren't really interested in and then gave it to us anyways. I would come back here for hotpot with a group of friends but I would be on the lookout to see if I received everything that I ordered and that I didn't get anything I didn't want in case they would charge me for it. The food is good and service isn't too bad that it would deter me from coming back.

They just reopened recently. You can eat hot pot indoor or outside. Eating our pot outside on a cool summer night is a wonderful experience. I recommend trying it out before it gets too cold to do so. Staff is consistently nice and you always feel so welcomed here. Will be back soon! Third time here but first time coming here on a weekday, and I loved it! Unlike the weekend, you don't need to wait 30-60 minutes to be seated. If you can, I highly recommend coming here during the middle of the week. Food is consistently fresh! I came with my American friends, and we ordered the spicy and tomato base combo. It's a Sichuan based broth, so it can be VERY spicy, in a good way, after water starts evaporating. If you can't normally take spice but want to be adventurous that day, staff recommended telling them you need the minimum level of spice, which isn't an option on the menu. Essentially, they put a tiny bit of chili in, and can add more if you want more. It's possible to add, but not decrease the chili if that makes s. I love this place for the food and the top notch service. The staff is so responsive and friendly, without shouldering over you to rush you (as is the case of many Korean BBQ places), or being overly enthusiastic to an uncomfortable level. Will come back!

I can confidently say spicy broth mala broth is the best broth in the tri state area. The meats and vegetables were fresh and great quality. The tables have big sharing family style and also small individual pots. As of Dec 2020 this is my current favorite hot pot. Also the servers were friendly, helpful and quick give you want you ask for. During covid, the tables were spaced out and they had hand sanitizers out to use after the sauce area.

Came here on a Monday night at 6pm, waked in and instead of hello they said, this is not all you can eat. I wasn't even thinking this. Got seated and looked at the menu, I've been at many Hot Pot places, but needed some questions asked. The guy was not helpful at all, although it seemed he spoke English, from the puzzled look on his face when I asked him about Vegetables he did not seem to understand me. Finally ordered, they just brought the food and put it on the table. Looking around there were many Asians seeming to have better interactions. My wife who is Asian, inquired about the type of food, they told us Chinese. They didn't explain about the sauce bar in the back or have any input or suggestions. If you come here you better know what you want, as they will give you no directions. It was very hot inside like they had the AC on 80. I like to try and support local business, but unfortunately I will not return.

Who goes for hot pot when the temperature hits 100 degrees? This gal! I'm a hot pot newbie, having tried this style of cuisine twice before with mixed results. But today, I arrived at the start of the dinner hour, before service became busy, and received a lesson in hot pot from "Sara," who demonstrated how to concoct a wonderful dipping sauce from the sauce bar and advised me on the correct times for simmering my hot pot ingredients. Hot pot dining is best for two or more. The more diners, the greater the variety of ingredients for the pot. Alas, solo dining tonight. My strategy was a protein assortment and a vegetable, so I selected assorted seafood and meat meatballs, and chrysanthemum leaves to get some greens into the day's diet. I'd never ordered chrysanthemum leaves before (but I'll surely be seeking them out after tonight). The balls were raw, gently seasoned, and approximately an inch or so in diameter. My broth choice was pork rib, infused with mushrooms, goji berries, red date, and a few other ingredients. Of the three hot pot restaurants I'd dined at, the broth at Morals Village was the most pleasing, thanks to a light hand with msg - or perhaps an absence of it. (I didn't inquire about it.) Juicy quarters of orange and cubes of watermelon completed the feast. The servers and staff were very welcoming and checked in with me several times to inquire if everything was enjoyable or if I needed anything else. Happily, Morals Village is close to mom's, so I look forward to dining here again soon!

This hotpot place is authentic! Interior looks quite upscale and the food will take you back to Sichuan! I'm loving it! I ordered the extra spicy but just feel like it is mild for me. Wish they could be more spicier!!!

We just noticed this place tonight, and I was wanting a light taste vegetable broth, so I talked my husband into going. The interior decor is modern and interesting, the way the 2x4s are arranged. We were seated immediately because we went just before 5pm. The staff was friendly and helpful with advice. I ordered the vegetable broth base (single) and then added spinach, enoki, shiitake, napa cabbage and bamboo shoots, not expecting the huge amounts I was given. The base is basically water that gets flavorful as the veggies cook in it, and the light taste was exactly what I wanted. Normally, I would have ordered spicy stuff, but I'll try that next time. My husband got the pork rib broth base, which he loved. He got the whole shrimp to add in (they offer it with heads and tails on, as well as off) and some pork meatballs, and since I was awash in veggies, I gave him some of mine. Very delicious. They do have a bar with sauce to create and shrimp chips to dip into it but I didn't have much of that. The snow pear drink we had was tasty.

Average hotpot. The waitress missed our order for the pot/soup itself so we waited a long time with all the raw meat at hand. sesame sauce is not thick enough, kinda watery. It's reasonably tasty just like any other hotpot. But I'd rather go to little sheep in their neighbor town.

Staff was friendly and wonderful. Very helpful and the food was good. They were always asking if you needed anything. Good atmosphere crowded but not seated near anyone

Beef-fat broth tastes great. My boyfriend loves this place most among tons of HotPot place. The spicy beef is very fresh and soft. The potato slices are extremely thin and delicious.

Thoroughly enjoyed my meal today as I dined out with my daughter. The service was excellent and the food was very tasty. Glad you're in town now, will definitely be coming back. Ling was a excellent waiter and was patient with us as we decided on what to add to our hot pot meal. The restaurant was very clean and got very busy as we were leaving. Xie Xie Morals Village!
