Morelli's Gelato

Absolutely love Morellis, have been a number of times- such a beautiful location & love the decor and the history of the place. The staff are very sweet and helpful - which is not easy as it’s often very busy (for good reason!) They really went the extra mile to find something we’d left behind by accident, which was so appreciated. I would love to see more vegan options there (although they have a great range of sorbets, and oat milk for drinks) & everyone I’ve been with who isn’t vegan has really enjoyed the gelato and huge sundaes!

No idea what the fuss is about. There is a mile queue for the take away, so we sat down inside just to find out that you still have to go order and fetch the ice creams yourself. The restaurant appears to be messy and dirty, tables aren't really being cleared off and there is only one toilet. Upon ordering the tender is probably the rudest person in Broadstairs. When I changes my order from 2 Eton mess to 3, he rolled his eyes at me and made me feel really uncomfortable. The Eton mess says has chopped up strawberries inside but it was like a treasure hunt trying to find those. The "affocatos" were 80% over-sweetened vanilla ice cream and 20% burned esperesso. Waffle: don't bother. And to top all things up: 3 Eton mess', two affocatos, one waffle and one chocolate ice cream in a cup cost us a wooping £70 and no service with it whatsoever. AVOID!

No trip to Broadstairs would be complete without a visit to Morelli's. Authentic Italian café and gelateria.

If you’re in Broadstairs, you absolutely can’t miss Morelli’s, the retro Italian ice cream parlour that’s perfect for any occasion. Last Saturday, we stopped by for their authentic Italian thick hot chocolate, and it was incredible—rich, velvety, and warming in all the right ways. It felt like a little piece of Italy right on the coast! The atmosphere is charming and nostalgic, with that classic Italian flair that makes it a fun spot to relax. Bonus points for being dog-friendly—our furry babies were welcomed with a water bowl and dog treats which made the experience even better. Whether you’re after a cozy treat or one of their legendary ice creams, Morelli’s is definitely a must-visit when in Broadstairs. I’ll be back for sure!

Google
Best ice cream shop in the area. Have been coming here for over 30 years. First as a child with my parents and now as a parent with my children. Whenever we say do you want to get an ice cream both my kids assume this is the place I am referring to. If we don't go here to get said ice cream, they are very disappointed. Gets very busy during peak times but we'll worth the visit

Good Hot Chocolate & Interesting Interior Stopped by Morelli’s Gelato in Broadstairs and had their thick Italian hot chocolate. It was rich and warming, a good choice for a cold day. The interior has a distinctive, retro feel, which adds some character to the place. It’s also dog-friendly, which is a nice touch. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Google
Absolutely delicious ice cream situated in a retro designed shop. Always try to come here when in Broadstairs - they have other branches but I like this one. They have classic flavours as well as new ones such as ‘dubai chocolates’. I usually go for an Affogato or hazelnut flavour. Portions aren’t huge and prices are expensive but this is an occasional treat - but it’s a whole experience.

Yelp
pretty decent hazelnut + pistachio, not sickly sweet. not very stretchy but creamy enough

Yelp
Step back in time and visit this glorious place for the most amazing ice cream and desserts. The cafe offers also a popular takeaway service fir ice teams but for the experience of their delicious dessert menu take a seat a enjoy the view too. Great service although a big pricey it's worth every penny

Yelp
Morelli's! Basically this is the place to go if you want to replace a meal with ice cream. Morelli's is 10 year old me's dream. The sundaes are huge, ice cream quality good and even a single scoop is nicely presented when eating in. The design is retro - a bit American diner-ish. Kids will love it. Location on Broadstairs waterfront couldn't be better. Tip: If you're visiting post meal, don't order a sundae (unless sharing); you'll just be wasting your money.

Yelp
Morelli's is a well known and busy gelateria on the coast in Broadstairs. We had planned to go here rather than just popping in so didn't eat lunch beforehand because we wanted one of their epic sundaes. My husband had the Berry Pavlova and I chose the Leonardo Da Vinci - which came in a paint palette shaped bowl and I could choose 3 ice cream flavours (I chose nutella,, lemon and caramel). This was accompanied by a section of cream, a section of strawberry sauce, a section of chocolate sauce and then a chocolate stick thing (the paintbrush I guess). The ice creams are delicious but quite pricey. I paid just over £13 for our two sundaes. But this is a nice place to come for a one-off treat. They do sell smaller cornets which I suppose are more affordable options but I don't know how much they cost.

Yelp
This was my third and last attempt at this place ! As overpriced as it is , I knew that but I simply will not tolerate someone taking their bad mood out on me.... Not once not twice but THREE times , all on different occasions and all different servers! What's up with that? Why is everyone so grumpy that works there? I won't try it again, they sure ain't the only ice cream store in town!

Yelp
Truly great gelato. Good range of flavours, nice menu of sundaes and specials. Atmospheric and comfortable surroundings with view of the sea.

Yelp
It has to be said - their ice cream is GORGEOUS! However, for those on a budget, this has to be a rare treat, rather than your regular stop off for ice creams at the seaside, and the prices are a bit OTT in my opinion. That aside, its a lovely quaint shop, very chintzy but adorable all the same. Well worth a try, if you have enough pennies!

Yelp
I have always loved Morellis, their ice cream is a little expensive but it's worth it! I have taken so many people here and they have all been as impressed as I am with this ice cream parlour. They always have new flavours, and there has never been a time when I have disliked an ice cream that I have bought from Morellis.

Yelp

Yelp
With the sun set on a dark autumn afternoon, the neon lights of Morellis beckoned. What we needed after our beach walk were steaming hot cups of hot chocolate. And this place did not disappoint! I had never heard of Morellis before, but it seems to be nothing less than a Broadstairs institution. It is an ice cream parlour in the traditional Italian tradition, and was opened in 1932. The parlour was expanded in 1957. That interior remains to this day and wow! Although it may be a little faded around the edges, there's nothing like an authentic 50s interior for evoking a great vibe. Cute pink patterned formica-topped oval tables are surrounded by Lloyd Loom lounge chairs. There are gold door handles and lamp holders fashioned as ice cream cones. Photos of the parlour's past adorn the walls, and a 50s clock on the wall is surrounded by plenty of mirrors making the place seem enormous. There is gold trim just about everywhere, and those oh-so pink neon lights. Couple this with an excellent choice of music on the complimentary juke box and you're in business! The parlour seemed to have reduced availability in terms of ice cream flavours, but this could have been due to the time of day (just before closing) or the time of year. This was not important on our visit, as we opted specifically for silky smooth hot chocolates and mochas. The hot chocolate was luxury beyond doubt, topped with a luscious blob of whipped cream (most definitely not the kind from a spray can). The mocha, too, was rich and creamy, with its sweet note reduced a notch by the mellow coffee tones perfect! Giving four stars as I could not comment on anything but the drinks.

Yelp
The position of this iconic seaside Ice Cream parlour is key to the romantic living of times that so often seem past. Morelli's somehow has not bent to the hustle of today's world, it's Lloyd Loom Chairs setting off the pink 50's ceiling decor and the faux painting colouring the wall. The ice cream is fantastic, the coffee delicious - the food offer I was assured is being revamped. Even the clatter and hum of the counter ice cream machine adds a wonderful thread to the tapestry of this 75 year old parlour. I had the Morelli's Bacio - fantastic - in every sense of the word.

Yelp
Morelli's ice cream parlour overlooks Viking Bay with its pier, beach huts and summer garden bandstand. Inside it is a step back in time to the fifties (the parlour opened in 1932 but was redecorated in 1957) with a fountain, decorated ceiling, formica, fifties music and lots of pink. I know it is called Morelli's cappuccino but it is a true ice cream parlour, serving perfect sundaes, cups and cones, with unique flavours which change from day to day. Apple crumble is one of my favourites, and strawberries and cream. All the flavours contain real fruits or chocolate or nuts, or, in apple crumble's case, a sort of ice cream-topping version of crumble. Last summer they celebrated their 100th birthday (of their founding, not this locaton) and gave away free ice creams for a day, so my brother and I leapt on the train from Charing Cross and spent the day trying out every flavour to the tunes of a barrel organ outside the ice cream parlour and a disturbingly kitsch crooner in the bandstand. It would be very sad, in fact, pretty unbearable a waste of what after all would probably amount to a life horribly deprived of the uttermost joy, to live in this country and not to go there as often as possible. In fact, I am seriously considering either moving to Broadstairs to be close by or becoming rich enough to purchase a franchise for my own parlour. You can buy their ice cream in Harrods, but it really isn't quite the same.

Yelp
Ice cream parlour in the middle of broadstairs sea front. Nice but unfortunately pricey, worth a visit, if only to try out the different flavours, but dont expect it to be cheap! The also serve drinks and hot meals if you want to eat out which is nice, the restaurant is reasonably well laid out, but can become noisy, especially in the summer, so maybe not ideal for a more private day out. Its nice, just a little to pricey for me.

Yelp
Walking into Morelli's is like walking back in time! It is a place that hasn't changed since the 1950's. It serves baguettes and sandwiches alongside tea cakes and cappucinos and wonderful hot chocolate. The best thing though is the range of ice creams on offer and the mint choc chip is a must. Prices are not too expensive. A real treat in a traditional seaside town.
