Stopped in here for lunch while I was passing through Roseville. 5 star taqueria. Got some great chicken tacos. Well seasoned and cooked. Nice sides and insane salsas. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu.

I've been going here for about 1.5 yrs now and every time I order - food seems to just get worse. Today, I ordered Quesabirria - what I got was hard tacos 🌮 ... no consume - when I called them lady said "we ran out" - I told her I wish she would have told me - I wouldn't have ordered them. She said "I didn't know, they just told me!" Called back when I realized there was NO cheese - the receptionist argued with me about it, "what, NO cheese!?" ... to boot one small slice of lime - which helps soften the tortilla but I could only use it for one taco. Super disappointed. 😞

I stopped by here for breakfast and went with the recommendation from the cashier. The plate of chilaquiles was great. Little bit of meat, 2 eggs, chips, beans, avocado, and a lot of cheese. They also give chips and salsa with the meal too. The interior is well decorated and the cashier/waitresses are friendly. Cooks are fast bringing out the food in only a few minutes. Restrooms are outside in the back by the parking lot.

Not only were the homemade chips amazing and the chile verde delicious, but the owner and staff are truly exceptional people. My family visited for the first time (definitely not the last!) when I accidentally left my purse behind. The owner kindly stayed late so I could come back and retrieve it. Her kindness left such an impression—this world needs more people like her, making it a better place.

In some ways I hesitate to share with you how fantastic this place is. Why? I feel like I want this little gem all to myself. That if I share it, somehow it's going to get all used up, wear out... This place is unbelievably wonderful. The recipes used here are so obviously from "Grandma/Mom". The food is presented beautifully and by friendly staff who clearly CARE about the business and your experience. The food is flavorful, colorful, and fresh. The flavors are perfectly bold. Nothing overwhelming and nothing over seasoned. I've had the birria taco plate twice now. The flavor profile is just perfect. Not too salty, not over seasoned to "cover the bases", perfect seasoning. A hearty flavor that just works. I cannot recommend this place more highly to you. But please, help me preserve it. I want them to do well, I want the best for the owners of course, but I don't want to lose this perfect family intimacy I sense and taste. Share it with some, but not all your friends. Let's enjoy it but not spoil it!

Google
One of the best kept secrets of Roseville. Everything on their menu is great. Great salsas, the best street tacos, their carnitas are amazing. The prices are still pretty good. It’s a mom and pop kind of business and the family is wonderful, I just love them all.

Google
First time and will certainly come back! Quant and cute, friendly service, great food. It’s on the pricey side for sure($39 for two entrees and a horchata) so that’s the only thing that made it not 5 stars. But overall a must-try in the sea of Mexican joints in our area.

Deborah C.

Yelp
First time there I ordered the combo fish taco plate and it was exceptional. Double tortillas embracing a light filet of white fish with fresh garnish and a wonderful tangy sauce that complimented everything. The beans and rice are very good as well. What was surprising to me was the absence of a heavy fish batter, yay. Everything seemed healthier and tastier here.

Yelp
While my husband and I were in the area, we decided to make a pit stop for some lunch because we were hangry. We drove past Morenita Taqueria and I looked them up on Yelp really quick and saw that they had good reviews. The inside was kind of small, but had an authentic Mexican vibe which I liked. They also had a small bar area, but they did not offer a salsa bar which kind of bummed us out. They did bring over complimentary chips and a red salsa that was pretty good though. We ordered the Kids Bean and Cheese Burrito plate, a Chorizo Breakfast Burrito and a Huarache. My daughter devoured her entire plate, my husband really liked the Huarache and I was a fan of the Breakfast Burrito - the chorizo had great flavor and was not greasy at all. The Breakfast Burrito also came with green and red salsas - the green salsa was fire! I will definitely be checking out their Chili Verde next time because I could have drank the green salsa straight! Overall, we really enjoyed the food and can't wait to come back try other items. They also had a lot of people coming and going when we were there which I think just shows how good their food is. We will definitely be back next time we are in Roseville. Check them out!

Yelp
My fave Mexican spot in Roseville. Tastes like home for me (South City in the Bay Area). Delicious food and cute and clean ambiance inside. Friendly staff.

Yelp
We were hanging in Roseville, and it was one of those moments where Hangry reared its head. YELP to the rescue and we decided to try Morenta's. Let's start off by saying that the Customer Service is definitely there. Staff is super friendly, and for a place that looks like it was once a dine in Taco Bell back in the old days, it has its own authentic feel to it. The food is just so so. Truly, nothing to write home about and for the price point it's really not a bargain. I ordered the steak quesadilla, which for nine dollars I wasn't overly impressed. The Asada is chopped very tiny and was really overcooked. It did not have much flavor so add in some cheese and it was a pretty bland quesadilla. The biztek ranchero is pretty to look at... the beans were really runny and lacked flavor, and the rice was a close second to that. While the rice wasn't runny, it just didn't really taste like much of anything. The meat was more flavorful, but it definitely was about the onions and peppers sautéed with the steak. Like the quesadilla, the meat was chopped and a really small pieces and was completely overcooked. The flavor profile was a bit better than everything else, but not by much . I found the overall experience to be OK, with the best part being the company. Would I dine here again? Probably not. There are so many more places that do a much better job and for the $50 spent on lunch, it's just not worth it.

Yelp
Microwaved plate of rice and beans. Meat was okay but nothing to tell the kids about.

Yelp
I've always wanted to try this restaurant and today I finally did! Service, food, and ambiance were great. The food came out very fast and hot and it was exceptional. So glad to have tried this place, I will be back!

Yelp
The food was good for a good price. I got both the asada and carnitas tacos, but my favorite of the two was the carnitas. The waitress was nice and very helpful.

Jessica R.

Yelp
The regular burrito tastes great except I was a bit underwhelmed by the size. It was $1 to add avocado so there's that. There are cash vs card prices. I know it's a tough market out there like $20 cash for a burrito & 2 tacos seems like a new norm but shrinkflation is real here.
google avatar

Vikki B.

Yelp
The beans are tasteless, the rice is ok. My friend liked the meat but the tortia chips are skimpy for two people. Needs a remodel

M J.

Yelp
Delicious. Hands down every dish. Authentic and reasonably priced. I generally get take out and it does take some time so call ahead. Worth every minute and dime!

Erica T.

Yelp
Great authentic food, yummy agua Fresca and great friendly service... love when we find a hole in the wall GEM!

Aaron A.

Yelp
Ordered a child's taco plate which was phenomenal! My chili quiles were packed with authentic Mexican flavor. Chips and salsa were good as well as the great service that I received. The ambiance was perfect!

Yelp
Taqueria Morenita, formerly known as Morenita Market and Taqueria has been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Placer County, thanks to delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine, and friendly service. Weekends are a busy time for this fine restaurant, as Roseville locals who appreciate authentic Mexican cuisine line up to place their orders. Taqueria Morenita is the most authentic Mexican restaurant that I've visited during my "foodie" adventures in western Placer County. You get a peek into the kitchen through the door to the left of the line. Taqueria Morenita operates on what I refer to as the "taqueria format," in that you walk up to the order counter, make your selection from the menu posted on the wall, pay for your order, and seat at any open table of your choice. When your order is ready, it will be brought to you by a friendly staff member, sometimes even Pancho, the talented head chef. There is a tip jar on the counter, as tips are greatly appreciated, but not expected. Chef Pancho brought a bowl of corn tortilla chips, along with a small cup of in-house-made salsa, and a Pacifico beer for dessert. A bowl of chips and salsa is included with all meals, and if you're in the mood for a second bowl, just ask, as it's on the house. From the "Weekend" section of the menu, I went with a bowl of menudo, which worked out perfectly after attending the parade in nearby downtown Roseville. Menudo and pozole, both favorites of northern Mexico are only served on weekends, unless you're lucky enough to arrive on a Monday morning when there is some left over from the weekend. Four toasted corn tortillas, a bowl of lime wedges, chopped chilantro, diced white onion, along with a shaker of Mexican orgegano and red chili pepper flakes arrived after my bowl of soup for enhancement. I squeezed lime juice into my bowl of menudo, and added the cliantro, onion and sprinkled a bit of oregano into my soup, but I passed on the chili pepper flakes. The Pacifico beer served double duty - for both appetizer and dessert - and I didn't even touch the bottle of supermarket grade Tapatio hot sauce. Every amazing soup or stew begines with a good broth, as broth is the foundation of soup, and menudo isn't an exception. The broth was simply delicious, as I could tell it was made from scratch, most likely using beef bones and scraps for the stock. Thanks the the chili peppers in the broth, the broth was a rich, brick red, flavorful, tastey, with just a little bit of "kick," and on the thick side, the way a superior broth for menudo should be. Words can't describe how wonderful this broth was... Taqueria Morenita doesn't skimp on tripe, as the stew included a generous portion - maybe even a pound - of succulent, tender, well-seasoned and juicy tripe, cut to the perfect size, and cooked just right. When I placed my order, I was asked if I wanted hominy - that's a nice touch - of course I wanted hominy, and I wasn't disappointed, as my bowl of menudo included a good helping or Mexican hominy, cooked just right. On my first spoonful of this amazing stew, I was simply hooked, as I thought I'd died and gone to heaven, or maybe a small town in northern Mexico. The broth, the tripe and the hominy all worked together to create a bowl of menudo to remember... as one of the most delicious bowls of menudo I've enjoyed during my 25 years as a resident of Placer County. I can't stay away from this amazing restaurant, as the food is delicious and the staff are super friendly, they know me, and they treat me like family. Taqueria Morenita is the most "authentic Mexican" of all the Mexican restaurants I've enjoyed during the 25+ years I've been a Placer County resident. For "foodies" and lovers of fine Mexican cuisine... this is 5-star dining.

Yelp
Super burrito is the size of a childs burrito and costs $16. Rip off! There are waaay better tacquerias in the area. Would not go back.

Yelp
I ordered a plate with tamales and rice and beans which was very good. Only thing I was let down by was my tamale had a bone in it the size of a quarter, but I get it. Some bones slip in sometimes, but I'm sure glad I was using my fork to open that tamale up. Service was great very nice and friendly!

Karen M.

Yelp
Damn near the best man, though around me and my husband went because we heard they had good menu though and they only do it on weekends so you know it's definitely coming back

Yelp
The food is amazing! Authentic Mexican food. I ordered Chicken Chimi plate and their delicious Albondigas soup! I'll be coming back
google avatar

Amarastarr K.

Yelp
I'm currently waiting for my food so I can't post a picture but their food is so authentic and bomb! I just recently moved back to sac and a lot of places out here are "watered down", especially when it comes to flavor! NOT HERE! Their green salsa is the best I've had in a long time, their prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere here is amazing. I usually get a breakfast burrito, with an horchata. It's so delicious, all their food is cooked fresh to order so it might take a few minutes longer than a fast food restaurant but it's worth it. Yenny always does me justice when ordering in person, I recommend pre/ordering over the phone if busy or in a rush.

Yelp
Based on the Yelp reviews I read, coupled with a craving for good Mexican food, I paid Morenita a visit. I was picking up dinner for the family. We ordered 5 super burritos, 4 chicken street tacos, 2 veggie tamales, 2 chicken tamales, and a guava-strawberry agua Fresca. I found it to be just a little pricey totalling just under $115. Jenny was super friendly and answered all our questions about the menu. The place was clean and the food was prepared quickly and tasted delicious. The pineapple salsa was a nice touch that you don't get just everywhere. The Adobada, carnitas, and grilled chicken in each of the items we ordered was well seasoned and plentiful. The tamales were on the smaller side, and the pork variety was not ready yet when we ordered, but the ones we tried were good. I don't have any real complaints about the food, service, or establishment. I'm sure I'll be back.

Diego A.

Yelp
The food was amazing. The wait was a bit long, so I'd recommend ordering ahead. The atmosphere is chill and spacious.

Yelp
Highy recommend. Very authentic food. And there market will make your mouth drool. So many goodies all made there on the premise.
google avatar

Gia F.

Yelp
The burrito was very mid, I love Mexican food I'm from the bay area and I decided to pick this place because of the reviews but outside of the reviews the food is very standard. They did not add rice into my burrito nor the guacamole. Very disappointing. They overcharge way too much. I paid $22 for a burrito and juice, also the cashier never asked me what size I wanted, she just assumed to charge me for the largest juice. I will definitely not be coming here again. I would rather go to a truck than go to this restaurant. The ambience was okay.

Yelp
I was in the area and craving some good Mexican food. This place exceeded my expectations. The service was great, food was even better. My favorite were the hand made tortillas!! I had the carne asada plate, a carnitas taco and agua de horchata. All amazing. Portions were big so I definitely took food home.

Joey S.

Yelp
Bro So good Mojarra - delish and fried perfectly Carnitas - quality flavor Red salsa - mild with a kick Great customer service. Chill area. Will definitely come again when I'm in the area to try more of the meat options

Yelp
Very authentic and delicious food and excellent service! Highly recommend this family-owed business!

Vik S.

Yelp
Heading back to the Bay after a long weekend basketball tourney, and burritos were def in order. Ordered an al pastor super burrito. Place looked legit and was super excited to dig in. Quality and flavor were great but where was the meat? Looked like a bean and rice burrito. Plus no spice in the burrito or accompanying salsas. Left a lot to be desired. Thankfully I'll get to makeup for it in the mission tonight.
google avatar

Veronica C.

Yelp
This is a small Mexican taqueria, NOT an award winning 5 star Michelin restaurant. Writing the Winds of War length critique is overkill & ridiculous. Nutty lardy frijoles? I also was overcharged $8.00 as a transaction fee for using my Visa debit card? There is no signage available to the public indicating the percentage therefore it is illegal. I asked the lady what the fee was but she didn't know but stated that it depended on how much you spent? I called Tapatio across the street, they do not charge. This was NOT a tip, but an additional exorbitant surcharge. I also called Visa to ask what is the "fee ceiling" the bank allows merchants to charge? It's 1.4% or $.50 to $.75 ......Most people don't check their receipts and just sign off the bill. Morenita is out of compliance and I will be issuing a complaint to the BBB. Operate an honest business or close your doors! If you are a victim, call your bank and have the entire bill placed into dispute. The bank will credit your account, that's why your money is protected by the FDIC.

Yelp
First time eating here. The food was excellent and our server Maribel was awesome. Would definitely come back.
google avatar

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Grabbed some tacos to go. Both the shrimp ($5 each) and carne asada ($4 each) tacos were great, I highly recommend trying them! The tacos are topped with cilantro, onion, and salsa, but the shrimp ones also have cabbage and a chipotle crema. Both come with a side of grilled onions/ peppers, and limes/radish to top it off. The restaurant may look a bit unexciting from the outside but the inside was very clean, colorful, and had quite a few people dining in. Friendly staff and very quick service!

Jimmy R.

Yelp
Awesome Menudo soup, it is very very good, just like home made . Great service and clean .
google avatar

Charles N.

Yelp
Order at the counter, food is brought to your table. We had mole chicken plate, enchilada plate, nachos, and a burrito. Chips were served hot. Horchata was good. The service was great.
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
La Morenita is without a doubt the one restaurant that offers authentic Mexican food. Ever since new management took over not only the service improved but also every single plate on the menu. No wonder why they are so busy all the time!

Meg C.

Yelp
Ever since the new owners took over the prices have skyrocketed beyond belief. They charged us $20 for a big beer. (Every other taqueria is about $11). They also charge a ridiculous fee for using your debit card. Tonight if I would have paid cash, a meal for two would have been $46 but because I used my card, it ended up being $55.01. I tried coming here again tonight after knowing all of this because the food is good, but what really put me over the edge was that they charged me $5.19 for a can of sprite. When I asked if that was an error, the girl said oh yeah that used to be the price for bottles. Sorry. Do not come here unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for what used to be good food until I realized I was being over charged every time I looked! The owners just make excuses.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Yes, please! This restaurant is finally on DoorDash and the food is outstanding. Ordered twice this week and it does not disappoint. So far I have had the super quesadilla with carne asada and chorizo super burrito; wow! The service is so good that they called to tell me they were out of something, rather than canceling or substituting. She was really sweet and patient while I decided. Can't wait to try the menudo or breakfast and dine in.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
for 3 tortas they charge $57 it's not a buffet or gold food! u can buy pizza at Costco for 10 dollars or chipotle bowl at least price!!! I'm not complaining about food just prices need to be reasonable Each torta $18!!! That's terrible
google avatar

B N.

Yelp
The food smelled good right away and the piña agua fresca I'm drinking rn is not Hella sweet its just right! The other place we were going seemed more American iced. This is it

Sasha P.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was friendly and quick. The salsa that came with the chips was flavorful. Definitely a good place to eat
google avatar

Kamaria C.

Yelp
Excellent service excellent food, clean establishment with very friendly and helpful staff.
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
The food and service is amazing! I ordered the Menudo and it was the best menudo I've ever had. I was expecting a small bowl, but wow the size is worth the price. Staff is super friendly and attentive, and our food came out really quick! I will be a returning customer for sure.
google avatar

Michelle V.

Yelp
I love eating at this location! The staff is very friendly and the food is such good quality. For authentic Mexican food I'd definitely recommend this place
google avatar

Alex s.

Yelp
I ordered chilaquiles verdes. The salsa verde was very good. Refried beans were a little watery. Over all very good. I like the way they cut the corn chips in smaller size. Gives it more crisp. My girlfriend ordered huevos rancheros but the salsa roja was missing flavor, not as good as the salsa verde.
google avatar

Victoria V.

Yelp
Excellent authentic street tacos. I never go out of my way to rate restaurants but this was is worth the time. Recommend

Yelp
THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD WE'VE EVER HAD!!!! Do not go anywhere else it's pointless omggg all 4 of us were in absolute heaven!! Literally every single thing was just AMAZINGGGG!!! And the service was sooo awesome!! Thank youuu !!

Matthew W.

Yelp
Tasty food. I got a burrito, and it was a lot of meat. Not extremely big, but definitly filling. They give you a few chips, and 3 types of salsa. There's a lot of other stuff on the menu, but I only got a burrito. There's a lot of space here, but they don't have a whole bunch of tables there. There's room for more tables, but they just don't have that many tables right now. So you might want to come a little early to get a table.

Yelp
We had some business in Roseville and we wanted some Mexican food. So happy we came here to Morenita. Loved EVERYTHING -- food, service. And ambiance!

Yelp
I've been craving authentic Mexican food and found this location through Yelp. We ordered carne asada, lengua, and tripa tacos and also an asada quesadilla. It satisfied my craving, but I wasn't absolutely wowed. I think the carne asada lacked flavor. The lengua taco didn't come out at all, which I was most excited about. We thought we had eaten it without realizing, but realized the order was missing. I liked the tripa but it too needed some more seasoning? I'm not a Mexican food guru, but I was hoping to find a location like in LA. We were looking for small hole-in-the-wall places to try. Chips were stale. There's a chips and salsa station, but I wished they had a cover over their chips container. Would have kept the chips fresher. I do like that the restaurant also sells Mexican bread. I'll be back to give that a try and maybe actually receive my order this time.
