St. John Should Be Your Next Culinary Destination

"Perhaps it was the same pulse that led me to make an unrecoverable traveler’s error at Morgan’s Mango, when I happened into one of the restaurant’s coveted reservations. Every Tuesday and Saturday, dependent, according to owner Carlos Di Blasi, on the whims of the sea, the restaurant rolls out the Caribbean lobster special — grilled locally caught lobster with melted compound butter, plantains, rice, and black beans. Guests pile in for the lobster, and for the lore. “We had, in 2015, a fire that shut us down for eight months,” Di Blasi said. “And then, in 2017, we were hit by the storm.” The restaurant, Di Blasi said, never used to be booked weeks in advance. Now, good luck to those who haven’t made their plans prior to arrival. (Even better luck to those who have passed the lobster up, as I did, despite my server’s warning that I would regret it — which I immediately did.)" - Hannah Selinger

2nd floor restaurant with tropical setting. Large open air deck surrounded by palms creates enticing atmosphere. Attentive service from server Julie. Delicious tuna tartar as well as main courses( wahoo, filet) although mains were slightly over cooked- both steak and fish were supposed to be medium & medium rare but came cooked closer to well. Regardless, both the flavors and textures were still very good. Chimichurri sauce was delicious but a little over powering - request sauce on the side next time.

We came for the lobster and it did not disappoint. The hubs ordered a 1.5 pound serving and there was enough to share with our table of four. Our son ordered grilled swordfish with chimichurri sauce and my daughter and I shared the ribeye. We also ordered four rolls, the ceviche and a salad to share and the hubs and I each tried a cocktail and a glass of wine with dinner. We did have a reservation and I believe that people without a reservation were turned away. Our server was great, stand offish but attentive, almost annoyingly so. We had a 530 reservation and many people in our section were seated at the same time so we waited a while for drinks and to order but as soon as we ordered the food was paced well and came out quickly. The mezcal aperol cocktail was a highlight, along with the lobster. We also loved that the rolls came with house made herbed butter. The meal was a splurge but didn't disappoint and became a highlight of our stay on st john.

We ate here for my wife’s 50th Birthday and it might have been the best meal we’ve ever had. Flavors, service, quality and overall dining experience were all flawless. Started w the Always Morgan’s Ceviche. Then the house salad. She had a pound and a half Caribbean Lobster for Lobster Night while I had the Grouper. For dessert, we had their world famous Key Lime Pie. WOW it was soooo good. It was all incredible, but I can’t stop thinking of that Pie. If you get the chance, you need to eat here bc you’ll remember it forever. Yes. It’s that good.

Fantastic restaurant very close to the ferry port. We tried a wide variety of the food choices and they were all prepared very well and had big flavors. The coconut shrimp with the banana sauce and the key lime pie should be must tries.

Morgan's Mango was one of my favorite meals of the trip! They had an unique and flavorful selection of dishes that represented many of the islands in the Caribbean. The coconut panko grouper and seafood paella were favorites. The owner came over to check in and it turned into a lovely conversation. She even gave us a slice of their key lime pie to celebrate my mom's birthday and it was one of the best I've had ever!!

I can see why this place is so popular because the food and drinks were excellent! My husband thought the Cuban Chicken was the best meal he had in our week in USVI and I thought the drinks here were the best I had. Make a reservation in advance. I waited till a week in advance and could only get seating at the bar though it was still great and the bartender was awesome.
