I’ll be honest, the food was good. Very good. Thought the decor and service was good as well. Pretty much what you want from a good pub. A like a place with attention to detail. With that all said, the bill at the end did make me check what I ordered and I’m not surprised other reviews echo that. This would be a great weekly pub to visit otherwise - but in this economy, maybe 1 drink is enough. Save the meal for the big occasions.

We ate here Christmas Eve and had some of the best fish and chips we’ve had as well as incredible curry and ham and cheese schnitzel. The service was excellent even for a busy holiday and the decor was so cute and cozy. The little design choices are excellent here too. We’ll definitely be back!!

Really nice family pub, feels very local but also classy, if that makes sense, in terms of not grubby pub vibes but not gastro either. Good selection on Sunday roasts and the dessert was to die for!!

Classic English pub. Well off the tourist areas, so it requires a bit of determination to get there. Staff is super friendly. It's a great place to immerse yourself in real life London. Enjoy the authentic fish 'n chips!

Food always delicious, service always great. Dropped in this evening to some excellent live music- right tone and volume for enjoying a drink and a chat with. Honestly love it here.

We had our first family Christmas lunch in London 2025 at the Morgan Arms. Absolutely fantastic. We love this pub but when you combine a great kitchen, atmosphere and the wonderful staff - it was such a memorable day. The staff are top class and a reason to keep coming back.

Lovely pub in the middle of a residential area perfect for to experience that cosy pub feeling. I booked it for a Christmas gathering with a group of friends and we had an area at one of the ends of the pub which felt perfect for our group, private enough while still together with the rest of the pub. Service was prompt and lovely and food was delicious. Would recommend

The pub is absolutely lovely with a great vibe and super comfy feel. There's also a good selection of beer on tap. That said, the roasts are horrible. They were bland with overcooked carrots and undercooked roasted potatoes. We actually complained about the potatoes and the guy never came back with an update. We asked about it later and was told the chef was cooking up a new batch which never arrived. He took the service charge off but this wasn't a great customer service experience. Avoid the food. I couldn't believe how bad it was despite how overpriced it was.

The food was excellent and service even better. Quiet and clean inside. Great place to hang with friends.

Staff friendly and food is really good. Slow service even ater 9pm on a thursday night ... and no check back during the meal.

Walking down Coborn Road in Bow, there's something that immediately strikes you about the Morgan Arms' pretty sage green exterior, maybe it's the tiny white lights in the window, the large beckoning windows, or the eminent sense of history, but the place is instantaneously endearing - before you've ever even been inside. Fortunately, once its delightful facade has waved you in (and it will), the Morgan Arms doesn't even think about resting on the cutesy laurels of its outer walls, and instead ups the ante in the best possible way. Far from your standard brass-and-polished-wood gastro pub, the Morgan Arms surprises with an eclectic, well-appointed, warm and sophisticated interior. It's utterly cozy, but in an arty sort of way. They've got a seasonal wine and beer list is that is well thought through and veers toward interesting... the type you glance over and think to yourself, "Hmm. I wonder what that's like." The food also impresses, mostly because it's an ever-changing menu that is locally sourced and well-executed. On one of my last visits, I enjoyed a fragrant, autumnal squash soup, and shared a platter of hummus and tapénade that was accompanied by hearty chunks of seed-flecked artisan bread. Another friend ordered an entrée of stuffed peppers, which he enjoyed, but I have to say that £13 seemed a little much for a trio of undersized capsicums that hardly could have passed an appetizer. Otherwise, I've always had fantastic, friendly, bend-over-backwards-to-please-you service here. Indeed, as a whole, I feel extremely fortunate that the Morgan Arms is close enough to me that I can count it my own, very lovely, local pub.

Nice English pub. Does a mean sunday roast. Lots of couches and places for groups to sit. Wine list is ok and broad mix of large company beers as well as some good craft beers. It kind of feels like a lounge room as its light and cosy and has a really great atmosphere inside. In the summer the whole place opens up and there is outdoor spots to sit on roadside. There is also a biggish dining room out the back. I have only had roasts here which they nailed. Think roasted pork with crunchy crackling and a black pudding stuffing. And lots of veg and a delicious Yorkshire pudding. And heaps of gravy! So. soooo. good. One thing to note though is the kitchen on Sundays closes at 4pm then opens for dinner service at 7pm. Good place for families or a big group of sunday lunch hungry mates.

I love this pub. In an area where decent pubs are few and in between, it's so refreshing to know that you can always really on the Morgan Arms. It's a large pub and having recently renovated it, they've made even better use of the space - plenty of room for both the eaters and the drinkers! Come here on a Sunday and it's likely you'll be waiting a while for a table. They serve a decent roast and a great selection of food during the week too. Prices are standard for London but I'm happy to pay for the quality of the food! The staff are great too - really friendly and welcoming even when busy! Definitely recommend if in the area and looking for a pleasant experience!

A friend of mine has been working at the Morgan for some time now so I've become something of a regular visitor to this rather high-market East-End drink/eatery. Located just off the gorgeous Tredegar Square and adjacent to a stack of ex-council housing, the Morgan attracts a varied but increasingly trendy clientele. The interior oozes sophistication with lots of solid wood tables and dark red leather. Drinks are a little pricy for this area of town but the selection is excellent and they've got Aspall cider on tap, hooray! Not one I'd pick to watch a game in, but it also has Sky. Where the Morgan really comes into its own though is the food. Thanks to its ability to provide an innovative and ever-changing menu along with a great variety of wines, the Morgan is really setting the standard for gastro-pubs. I'd say this is probably the perfect place for a first date, it's not too flash but it reeks of good taste.

Nice looking pub but the food does not deliver. The steak tartare was diluted with mayonaise, the duck confit was mis balanced in flavour and bitter, and the scallops were overcooked. Sorry to say this place has too many bells and whistles but does not meet expectations.

This is a great place for a Sunday afternoon with friends. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, and the roast is really, really good. Good drinks, great wine. I will make a point to come back here.

The Morgan Arms is like a little haven in and amongst the hustle n' bustle of Bow and Mile End. Tucked away nicely just off bow road, down Coborn Road. I decided to meet up here with my best friend for a good ole' catch up , having not seen her for a good fortnight... and I'd spent a couple of lazy Sundays at this place nursing a hangover after an epic weekend previously, I knew it would be perfect for that laid back , cosy catch up. (The Sunday Roasts are lovely by the way - worth every penny of the £14 / £15 they charge). SO! Anyway - back to reality - Hmmmm,... what to choose,.. decisions , decisions,.. We were both torn between the monk-fish wrapped in parma ham and the oven-baked cod (served with dauphinoise potatoes and creamed spinach).... but then opted for the Cod, on the recommendation of the cheeky waiter who told us, "I'm a Kent boy, so I have had loads of cod in my time, and I can honestly say that, THAT cod is by FAR the BEST i have ever had in my life!", ..... hmmm,... ok - pretty convincing sales pitch there! ;) .... SOLD,.. we'll both have that then! Not disappointed!! - The fish was very fresh and succulent and the dauphinoise and spinach were delicate and flavoursome enough - but not to overpower said 'Best' Cod. Portions were good too. OK,.. good, so far a winner,... "Ladies,... can I interest you in a tantalising dessert ??" - here comes Kent boy again,.. :) .. Now,... on previous visits, The Morgan has starred on its menu, the most AMAZING Chocolate Fondants... literally ladies - seriously,.. i mean - picture that scene from 'When Harry Met Sally' in the Cafe/ Diner,... "oooh,..YESSS,.. YESSSSSSS" .... 'that' sort of amazing?..... hehe... Yep, you got it. ;) Made fresh to order etc.... Apparently this hit no longer features on the menu as they take too long to make or something like that,... ok,... fair enough,... we'll have the Chocolate Tart and the Apple Crumble,... ..... 30 minutes later and an apology for having forgotten to submit the order to chef (it happens to all of us),.... dessert arrives. Crumble,.. Yummy. My friend was happy. Chocolate Tart,.... :( Sadly,... not so exquisite - an over enlarged slab of hard shortcrust case filled with solid chocolate ganache - served with a drizzle of fruit coulis . . . Too solid, heavy and dry to be served on its own. - Definately needed some creme anglaise / cream / ice cream,... you get my drift... Too bad,.. it was all fantastic aside of that! - BRING BACK THE CHOCOLATE FONDANT!! :) That smaaaalll faux pas aside, the Morgan Arms is awesome - and that was, after maybe 5 visits the only one bad thing I could say. I would recommend this place for after work beers with pals who live locally, or a meal with friends / family,.. even a nice relaxed evening with your other half when neither of you wants to cook. Fab atmosphere, great banter with the staff and the prices are ok too. Not the cheapest of places, but you pay for what you get - this is true. Check it out next time you're in the area! Also, for dinner, I would recommend booking a table either on-line or via phone. It gets busy!! ENJOY! :)

This is a cozy local pub but serves mediocre food. I have come past here several times and got suckered in to check it out because it gave off a chill ambiance. I also saw that they serve nice dinner here so I dragged along my husband hoping for a tasteful dinner. To my dismay, we found their food mediocre for the price. The seabass was bland while the lamb that my husband ordered was without flair. I might come back here for a drink at the outdoor bench but definitely will not come back for food.

Beautiful pub. Really well decorated in winter time and lovely to sit outside in the summer. The central bar area is gorgeous, the staff are always a delight, and the food is fantastic (both the restaurant area food and the bar burgers). The back area is for table seating only while the front is a classic pub style, but you can order the same food in either areas. Everything about this place is great. Except A: ever since their remodel a while ago the prices are too high (ESPECIALLY drink prices), B: not enough outdoor seating, and C: lights can be too bright inside in the evening.

Great local place. More informal eating area and pub area. Friendly staff and crowd. Came with friends. Did not get food. Bartender staff very engaging. Nice experience and comfortable. Would recommend if visiting the East End of London.

Who knew?!? Mile End is actually quite nice in places. A couple of blocks over from the grime surrounding the tube station is this smart locals' favourite. We swung by here on the recommendation of the Yelp app - looking for somewhere for a bite to eat and a warm-up drink before festival-ing in Victoria Park. I expected it to be busy, given the crowds only two streets away, but it was relaxed; collections of twenty-somethings entertaining their parents. Our food wasn't great. The seasoning was all wrong. But the table next to ours were letting out yums of delight. If you're in the area, this would be a decent enough pitstop.

Tucked away a couple of blocks from Mile End station is this rather hip gastropub. Recommended by many of the locals I had to give it a whirl one friday night for dinner and drinks. I was not disappointed with my vegetarian tart. My friends weren't that thrilled with their pasta, but that is why I don't order pasta! It got really busy, which is totally cool except that we had to yell to talk to each other, and my ears where ringing when I left which either makes me old, or it makes the pubs acoustics really unbearable.

When people ask me about my time at Mile End/Bow, I usually say: "Meh, it's Mile End." But, I did keep hearing about this place through friends so I eventually decided to have a gander. What a diamond in the rough that this place is! Sure, it's a bit pricey but it's either this or chicken and chips. The great thing, other than their food, that makes Morgan Arms great is the people who come here. They're almost always amusing to watch. But, having said that, this place also makes for a great date spot if you live in the area and are too lazy to hop on the tube.

Best local pub in the east end. Nothing quite beats the selection of booze and food in this area. They are incredibly welcoming and have such good attitudes towards the finest of things. It's a really nice modern pub that is both traditional and gastro. A nice weekday lunch or a great Friday night, both handled with ease! Such a great place!

Ok, it is a gastro pub but drinking is in no way discouraged and they have a small selection of beers for your dimpled glass. There are a few tables out by the road for warm weather. Adnams explorer is rather a nice beer, served in excellent condition here.

Charming English pub with a lovely seating area outside. We stopped here for a pint of beer often, few times had a dinner with friends.

Used to be my local and popped in there again tonight. The restaurant was packed as usual but the hostess was happy to squeeze me in for a quick supper. Great service, buzzing atmosphere, and really good chips! The bar menu is delicious and it's worth heading there for the Sunday roast - but you have to go early, as they don't take bookings for lunch and do tend to sell out. The only shame is that I don't think they do their legendary dessert platters any more..

This is a blinding little pub in Mile End. Really really enjoyable. It's a strange place. I know my friends and was expecting a rubbish little dive bar. Instead, I arrived forty minutes late (whoops) and was greeted with lovely comfy chairs, real ale and great music. Friendly staff, lovely punters and a really happy atmosphere makes this a pub well worth travelling for. Luckily it's only two minutes from Mile End tube. They do pub quizzies and raffles (currently to raise money for Haiti) and I imagine this is the kind of place you'd quite like to be on a rainy Sunday afternoon. They do food, which looked yummy - not quite gastro pub but I reckon it's better than pub grub. Four pints of Doom Bar cost me £13 though which is quite pricey, isn't it. I don't care. I can't sing the praises of this pub enough.

This is my local and what a lucky girl I am. Smack in the midst of the Bow Conservation area. It's a world away from Mile end in this side of Mile End Road. Victoria houses, a grand square, and lots of trees. For those of us that live here we are happy to keep the tucked away Morgan Arms our little secret. The food is great, though I've only eaten there once, they have a lovely little restaurant area in the back of the pub. The pub part is relaxing with a laid back friendly crowd. It has large windows which makes it nice and bright during the day, and means when I walk by on the way home I can look longingly in and see everyone having a good time. Staff are helpful and seem happy to be there, which makes for a nice atmosphere. The beers and cider on tap change around which is nice, as it gives a chance to try something new. Why 4 not 5 stars, well I would like to see more nibbles on offer through out the day, and I would like to see it stay open later on the weekends, 11pm is when they have you out the door. I suspect this is because of it being in a residential area, and beyond their control.

Part of the "new East End" this was a traditional boozer that's now a Gastro-Pub. It does a very good job at being both actually. I was there mid-afternoon on a Monday. The place was immaculate, a few friendly and helpful staff. The tables are a mixture of traditional pub, traditional kitchen (farmhouse), and few butcher's chopping boards - very trendy. Chairs are all comfy. I recommend eating here - I counted 3 people working in the kitchen prepping dinner. I had a lunch of slow roasted pork and colcannon. It was yummy and excellent value (£7). If you are local pop in and relax.

I've been going to and eating in the Morgan Arms for the past 3 years and it has gone from great to poor and back to great again. I went again tonight and the food is right back to its best. The drinks have always been pretty good but the food has had its ups and downs. I understand the chef changed some time ago and the current one is really good. I had a really good Barnsley chop with really good champ and gravy, my companions had rabbit, soufflé, turkey, and halibut and everyone said how good their food was. The service was friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was buzzing, the décor good so overall no complaints at all. The only reason it hasn't got 5 stars is that it is just a little pricey, not terrible but by no means cheap! Go on, give it a try, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Best local pub. Great to sit outside on summer days, although the tables are normally full up by the afternoon. The inside bit is divided up into a typical pub area that has a bit more of a loungey atmosphere, and a proper restaurant at the back for great gastropub fare. The front has your typical pub grub (fish & chips, burgers etc) while the gastropub has a rotating menu (my favourite is the pork belly roast). Decent selection of wines on offer and your standard lagers and ales. More upmarket than the Coburn Arms down the road, but the prices reflect this. Generally nice staff and cosy vibe for a catch-up with friends or partners.

I've had some blinding nights here over the past four years but more appalling ones mainly due to the food and people working there. I'm a believer that all locals should have a personality but this one thinks far too highly of itself. I was told that the food was good. Went for an overpriced Sunday roast. The meat was tough, vegetables way too over cooked in too much brine and the gravy non-descript. The range of drinks is pretty good and the decor is decent. Bar food not so bad but I suppose that its too hard to mess that up. Its a shame the bar staff are almost always moody and unresponsive. The hostess is cold and unwelcoming. A kind of place where they take your drinks away when there is still half of it left. Maybe I just have poor luck on the days I go. Despite all of this I keep coming back. I have no idea why to be honest, but I do.

So , we have been living in Bow for 5 years now and one of the first places we stumbled upon was the Morgan Arms .. on initial impressions when we first entered it looks well planned out , a nice seperate eating area and some great antique furniture to make it feel nice and lazy .. you know the sort of pub youd like to read the papers in ! The drinks are slightly pricier than most East London pubs but the people you get in there are of a nice ilk and the staff are usually pretty friendly . So , drinking, relaxing , the ambience and layout are great in there , however the food is slightly different Whilst it is nice to get a different take on traditional foods and the way they are served up together, it seems they have forgotten about the execution of getting the prices right ... we have eaten in there on 3 or 4 different occasions and each time we have been disappointed with the result . For all the fuss of the "different twist " the MA put on the delivery , the food has either been cold , too small a portion or not served up together . The last time , when we took my girlfriends parents was a complete shambles , the food arrived seperately , the pork had more fat on than it did meat , and then when we asked the staff to change it took 15 minutes for them to deliver the new pork , and this was after 2 attempts of completely getting pork mixed up with beef and then vice versa , of which time everyone else had finished their meals and my girfriends father was sitting there with 2 slabs of pork ! Ive eaten at the Cobourn Arms going for the roast, and whilst it is not in the same league as the Morgan in looks and design the food has always been of a good standard and well priced . On a level of the Morgan , other pub/restaurants like the Brittania and the Dove are far better and still offer the same level of "feel " but with the food being far superior and slightly cheaper , which leaves you feeling the £10 - £12 you have spent on a roast was defintely worth it . So to wind up , if you want a drink and to relax with friends its great , but if youre looking for a good meal at a good price your more than likely be left feeling somewhat cheated with the price and the service .

I didn't love this pub, I'm sorry to say. Decor is cool and clientele is hipster... but there's heart and soul missing. Food was bland and poor for veggies, as well as overpriced. Won't be coming back - as I preferred the homier pub with quotes on the walls, and books on shelves, and comfy sofas across the road...

My first trip to Morgan Arms was on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon in late September. Sunny and warm, I sat down for brunch with some friends. The ambiance is great - it has a wood interior but with all the windows, the room seems filled with light. The food was phenomenal. They have daily specials and a set bar menu with traditional items you'd find at any pub. I had the fish and chips (from the bar menu) and my friend had the goat cheese canneloni (daily menu). Both were amazing. The batter used to coat the fish was light and flavorful as were the mushy peas with mint. The canneloni was also delicious. Its a bit pricey, especially for an American, but the big portions make up for it. Also, this place has board games - and obviously beer so it makes for a great way and place to spend a casual afternoon.

One of a better pub near Mile End Tube station. This has become one of our usual hang out place after work great pub great atmosphere. Usually the crowd are really pleasant too and drinks are relatively cheap ideal place for casual drinks there are tables and chair outside for smokers and sunshine when the weather is good.

Good pub lunch near Mile End tube station. My roast pork was pretty damn good. If I'm being really picky, I'd say the crackling could've been cracklier. I was supposed to share my dish with my husband but I didn't want to. In the end he won and we swapped..the roast beef was good but the pork was definitely the better dish. They also serve Negroni (which thanks to another pub is my new favourite apertivo). Definitely worth a visit.

Bit of a funny vibe - it's trendy but for a kind of balding-mid-30s crowd. The place itself is faultless interior, and the food is spectacular (if expensive). Beer is also good, and as an ale drinker, they clearly treat the barrels properly. Packed in the summer as people spill out onto the streets.

Former Evening Standard gastro pub award winner is the jewel in the neighbourhood. Good food, a nice attitude and creative class punters make this a must-visit neighbourhood pub.

Hidden away in the east of the city is this gem of a pub. It's the ideal place to take parents when they visit - great food, nice ambiance and pleasant staff. It's one of the main places I miss since moving south of the Thames

I can't say how delighted I was to stumble upon this place after viewing a property right across the road. Great ales and of course your regular largers and ciders too. The food is really great, priced like a gastropub but it's worth it in my opinion. It's only a short walk away from Mile End station but it feels an entire world away. You can enjoy your pint, take a small detour over to Tredegar Square (a portal into Kensington, surely?) and be back at the tub station in a flash. As pubs go, it's quite yuppie, especially compared to Coborn Arms up the road which has a more 'local' feel to it. Don't let the nice decor fool you though, it's a lovely place to sit and relax with some drinks and have a chat. I met a lady who had an adorable labrador with her inside and none of the staff or customers seemed at all fazed. The staff are friendly, the seating is comfy and the location is great! Tucked away but very accessible for those taking the tube anywhere. I only wish I had moved into the house across the road!

This cozy local gastropub does great quality food, has a great selection of wines & hosts a great pub quiz! (Make sure to book a table for the quiz as it gets busy). Previous quizzes have included a prize of a cheeseboard and a bottle of wine for the best team joke!

Just a little pretentious. Not sure if it's the place or the people who frequent but this isn't the sort of relaxed pub/bar to unwind in, nor is it a loud and energetic place to dance around in. Silly prices for food (as in too expensive), and of course the beer isn't cheap. But hey, it seems geared towards people who live in Bow but would prefer to be elsewhere.

This has been my local for a few years but I've stopped going regularly, preferring to take a longer hike to places like The Crown (same chain) or The Hemingway E9. Food is quite good (served in a separate restaurant area towards the back). Limited outside space and no seating where the sun shines in the summer (standing only), but there is limited picnic bench style seating in the shade. This pub has a strange smell in the basement toilet area, hardly an uncommon issue I know, but this smell is unusual - rather like a wet hamster's clunge? Some of the furniture is falling apart, perhaps that is supposed to be kitsch, but there are signs of unnecessary wear so some investment is needed, I think. Still, this is a decent enough local and it's cheery, buzzy and a nice place to lose yourself if you've had a bad day at work. There's a TV but I have never seen it with the sound on, it's normally muted and showing the news with subtitles.

Friendly pub ideal for a swift cider or five after work. Only pub I visit regularly in the Bow/Mile End area.

I'm lucky to call the Morgan Arms my local! I had dinner there tonight (Monday), and had a tasty scallop risotto with a side of green beans. The food is quite simple, but the menu is interesting - not just your standard pub fare. TMA is definitely a gastro pub, and as well as the traditional pub area where you can dine or just enjoy a few pints, there is also a dedicated dining area making it more restaurant-like. My dessert of creme caramel was tasty with a citrus twist - nothing overly special, but all the food was well prepared. The staff are attentive, friendly and helpful - after asking for GF options it seems that all the waitresses then knew, and bought over a dessert menu with the GF items pre-ticked, which I thought was a nice touch. About £15-£20 for a main.
